Pro 10:16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

University Exhibit Celebrates Abortion as a ‘Life-Sustaining Act’

A display at the University of Michigan is raising concern among pro-life groups nationwide as it celebrates abortion as a ‘life-sustaining act’ that its creator believes is a ‘gift from God.’

“’4000 Years for Choice’ is an exhibition of posters about the age-old practices of abortion and contraception as a means to reclaim reproductive freedom as a deeply personal and life-sustaining act existing throughout all of human history,” a description on the university website outlines.

The display was created by abortion activist Heather Ault, who reportedly was paid $1,000 to provide a lecture on campus surrounding reproduction and erect her art display on the topic.

“Contrary to what they are saying this display is not about pro-choice or even pro-abortion. This is about the history of women learning to control their reproductive system,” an unnamed university representative told Students for Life of America in a telephone conversation. “Heather is trying to get past the hanger and the idea of back alley dirty abortions and celebrate the ways women, and men for that matter, can control their reproductive system through birth control and even by aborting a fetus.”

The display features several posters that celebrate the different methods of contraception and abortion throughout history. Note cards created by Ault, which are not confirmed to be included in the exhibit, also assert that “abortion is a gift from God” and is “pro-family, pro-life, moral and good.”

“In 3000 BCE, ancient Egyptians contained a contraceptive recipe numbered Prescription Number 21,” one poster, entitled Affirm Ancient Contraception, reads. “It was called Recipe Not To Become Pregnant and called for crocodile feces, mixed with fermented dough, and placed in the ****.”

“Advocated by Emma Goldman and Margaret Sanger, they were sold widely through mail-order catalogues,” another poster, entitled Bless the Diaphragm, reads. “In 1884, Dr. Edward Bliss Foote wrote in his book Medical Common Sense, ‘It places conception entirely under the control of the wife, to whom it naturally belongs; for it is for her to say at what time and under what circumstances, she will become the mother, and the moral, religious, and physical instructress of offspring.’”

The exhibit, which is displayed in the main lobby of Lane Hall at the Women’s Studies building on campus, is sponsored by the Program for Sexual Rights and Reproductive Justice, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design.

“Why is the University of Michigan using taxpayer funds that declare that ‘abortion is a gift from God?’ Do they support this message?” asked Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life of America. “Abortion is never safe for women, legal or illegal, and for the University of Michigan to have the audacity to use taxpayer dollars and a taxpayer-funded building to push forth an agenda and human rights violation that the majority of Americans oppose is disgusting.”

Although the exhibit will remain on display until May 29th, Hawkins is calling for pro-life supporters across the nation to ask the university to remove the project from Lane Hall and ensure that only private funding is used in the future.

1884?? As in the same year those corrupt Wescott and Hort texts got put out??

Yeah, it seems like the same years the word of God gets corrupted AND ultimately accepted, are also the same years abominations follow it!(it's been documented in other years too, like when the same year rock music got put out)

The pro-abortion faction shows no fear before God

“One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.” (Proverbs 14:16)

Pro 14:16 A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

A pro-abortion woman gave a lecture in January at the University of Michigan (supported by our tax dollars), for which the school paid $1,000. The woman’s talk was accompanied by an ongoing display of her so-called art collection, dubbed “4000 Years for Choice,” which consists of posters celebrating the fact that women may choose to have their unborn babies killed.

Students for Life of America are seeking to have the prominently displayed collection removed. Debra Schwartz, senior public relations representative for the college’s Institute for Research on Women and Gender, naturally defended and downplayed the display. It’s not political, she said, adding, “Heather [Ault] is trying to get past the hanger and the idea of back-alley dirty abortions and celebrate the ways women, and men for that matter, can control their reproductive system through birth control and even by aborting a fetus.”

Ault—whose display includes a poster that reads, “Abortion providers are heros [sic]!”—said the posters are about “reproductive empowerment, wisdom, and self-care” and “women’s deeply ingrained desire to control pregnancies for the good of ourselves, our relationships, and our families.”

I doubt this shocks many pro-lifers. Unfortunately, we’re used to it by now. What I’ll never get used to is the blasphemy. One of Ault’s poster’s declares, “Abortion is a gift from God.” We know she isn’t referring to the God of the Bible. Still, the mockery grates on me. It’s awful enough to defend “choice,” but to invoke the Creator and call killing vulnerable and voiceless children a gift from that Creator?

It can and does get worse. The Rev. Carlton Veazey, former president and CEO of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (formerly known as the Coalition for Abortion Rights), believes black churches should be more inclusive of homosexuals. He has a point only if pastors call them to repent. But Veazey, who holds himself out as a minister of the gospel, also said that abortion is a woman’s God-given right. Where is his fear of the Lord?

Before reversing course, World Vision president Richard Stearns said his Christian humanitarian organization’s decision to hire so-called married homosexuals was a symbol of unity, not compromise. Where does the Bible teach that Christians are to unite in sin? Where does the Bible even imply that killing unborn babies is a right or a gift in the eyes of God? Of course, it teaches none of these things. I should pose the question differently. Where is the fear of offending God by embracing what He calls sin?

The words God and Lord are bandied about these days with no fear of the One whose name they utter. One could argue that Ault does so out of ignorance. What of those who claim to know God? “Praise the LORD!” the psalmist wrote. “Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments.”

Fear no man’s disapproval, but delight in what God calls good.
