Title: WORK

6. To produce by action, labor or exertion.

We might work any effect--only by the unity of nature.

Each herb he knew, that works or good or ill.

9. To put to labor; to exert.

WORK every nerve.

I bring this up b/c the Easy Believism crowd almost always accuses the Repentance people of supposedly pushing a "works-based" salvation.

Just think about it - when you are "Easy Believisim-ing" something, aren't you EXERTING yourself to believe something? I say this b/c I was part of the EB crowd when I was a false convert.

I used to strive to be perfect. The only thing I managed to perfect was weakness. The problem was that I was getting in the way of His working on me by trying to do it Myyyyyyyyyyy Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy or even how I thought He wanted me to do it instead of how He actually wanted to do it.

God's turned me into a marshmallow. And that's a good thing. Because if I wasn't weak, I'd probably cause an awful lot of damage to everything and everyone around me. Because of this, He doesn't always tell me what He's doing. And I agree with Him that that's probably the best way of dealing with me on certain issues.

When I am weak, then He is strong to work through me without my interference.

1 Corinthians 3:8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Do the EB crowd ever pray?

Yeah, was thinking the same thing. They will fight and fuss over "This is really how you get saved, everything else is works...", but honestly, I don't think they care about the souls and well-beings of their own brethren.

Like I mentioned in other threads - salvation isn't fun and games.

Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Lk 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Mk 6:30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

Christ is no slave driver. He wasn't then and He isn't now. The devil and the world, on the other hand, will wring people out like an old washcloth and then throw them away.

Good story just posted today. I find myself relating to the dog.

Tony Blizzard's 19-year-old dog Lobo is clinging to life. Tony, who is 82, believes Lobo is a model of Christian acceptance.
