Title: Philippians 2:3
Post by: theBIBLICALdude on December 23, 2010, 11:07:09 pm
Philippians 2:3 KJV Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

I call attention to this verse for the verse of the week mainly becasue I read this after I was speaking to a friend about the Westboro Baptist church and how that ministry is out in the streets bringing the name of God too become a corrupt thing. They preach a message of hate and out of pride run around condemning everyone when they themselves are corrupt children of the devil. This passage speaks about letting nothing be done in strife (contention in anger or enmity; contest; struggle for victory; quarrel or war) and vainglory (exclusive vanity excited by one's own performances; empty pride; undue elation of mind).

Sad thing is that we have a slew of people calling themselves "christians" that run around pointing the fingers in accusation and doing so out of a prideful and hateful spirit. This type of behavior turns people away from Christ and is nothing more than a false witness for Christ. If you read in scripture you will see that over and over again we are told to be meek, humble, sincere, polite, not hateful like some are. There is no room for spreading the Gospel of Christ if done so out of strife and pride.

We are told to do these things and be harmless (which people assume is physical violence) but can also be mental as well. Words do just as much damage as force, yet the Christians of today that call themselves saved tear down the faith and potential faith of others by being so evil in their action and their presentation of the Gospel.

Philippians 2:14-15 KJV (14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings: (15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

We are told to be the light of the world, and we can not do this if our character and spirit is no better then those in the world. As I said to you we are to be kind and gentle in our giving of the Gospel. Not forceful and hateful. Not once in scripture do any of the apostles nor Christ act in the manner of these reprobates of today (Phelps and others like him)

Ephesians 4:1-3 KJV I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, (2) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; (3) Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, (25) In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; (26) And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Point is as we can see there is no room for the behavior that some of the reprobates exhibit towards the unsaved and saved alike. Pray for them that God either changes their hearts or brings judgment upon them so they can fear the Lord, according to his will.
