1 John 4:4

I want to ask a question. How many reading this think you can lose your salvation? I know that there are certain sects that teach this false doctrine from scripture and this produces Christians that think that when they win they can lose their salvation and this also ties in to thousands of believers that panic when they read about the mark of the beast due to the fear that lies in them and the ever thought of "what if I mistakenly take it?" but rest assured that scripture shows a definite salvation to those that faithfully trust in Christ.

Let's take a look at our verse of the week.

(KJV) 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Isn't this a warming passage. This passage states that we have "overcome them" and that we are of God. It also relays a very important truth to back up how we overcome "them" by showing us that he that is in us is greater than him that is in the world. We have an intercessor to God and that is Christ Jesus. It amazes me to see the ammount of Christians that show nothing but fear of man in their daily worries and much conversation and all the while we have a much greater allie that enables us to overcome what we are fearful of. It is almost like as Christians we are standing in 3 inches of water with our lifeguard - Christ - holding our hands and at the same time crying how we are going to drown. It also amazes me how people can run around and think that they have to give confession to a priest or they will be in "mortal sin" and doomed upon death, or even the reform Catholics (Protestants) that teach conditional salvation and that we can lose our salvation when all anyone has to do is open their scriptures and read verses like the above.

We have overcome them. Who is the them? Look one chapter ahead.

(KJV) 1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.
(KJV) 1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

The them is the world and the process by which we overcome the world is through faith in Christ. It is written right there plain as day. I don't know why people make it more than it is. What is the question? What about eternal security? Keep reading. We just saw that scripture says that we have overcome the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. Look what else scripture says about those that overcome.

(KJV) Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Proof enough? If not then how about one more.

(KJV) Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Still unconvinced? Ok one more.

(KJV) John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Ok last one.

(KJV) John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
(KJV) John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.
(KJV) John 10:29 My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.

Ok here is the finish line

(KJV) John 10:30 I and [my] Father are one.

So the fact of the matter is that scripture clearly shows that we are sealed, we have overcome the world when we accept Christ as our saviour and none can snatch us our his hand and he shall not cast us out. So if all those statements are true, then how can we lose our salvation?

Answer: We can't. It doesn't give us a license to sin by no means as some abuse this doctrine would love to let people believe, but none the less the fact is we are saved by his blood forever.

In Christ,
