Women who have abortions 'face double the risk of mental health problems'

Women who have abortions are at risk of severe mental health problems, according to a study.
The research found that those who undergo abortion face nearly double the risk of mental health difficulties compared with others and that one in ten of all mental health problems was a result of abortion.

I knew a woman who had an abortion; it was my brother's girlfriend.  She had it before she met him.  She would carry rosary beads around in her hand and admitted that it was the worst mistake of her life.  From what I could tell, she was having a hard time living with this decision, it seemed to dominate her every thought.

I wouldn't doubt that each of these women go into the decision of abortion very independent, with a "I'm in charge, I can make my own decisions" sort of mind-frame, but once the deed is done their souls are tortured.  I'm sure there are those who are so hardened that it doesn't even cross their mind the next day, but I think most do ponder the repercussions and true nature of what they have done.

what ever happened to her? she seems to have a lot of guilt over the murder.

Did she come to know Jesus?

I wish I knew.  Her and my brother did not last very long, but the couple of visits to our home, (my brother lived with me), made a lasting impression on me of her mental state.  And yes, guilt consumed her and my only hope is that she did come to know Jesus.

Are you familiar with Vicky Courtney? She runs a women's ministry - I read about her testimony in a Christian magazine a few years ago(before I moved back to North Texas). She had a wild life in college, and ended up getting pregnant one time, and then got an abortion...it was after this she got so depressed and regretful, that she turned to the one and only Saviour Jesus Christ. She now has a family and a women's ministry(occassionally, she will get depressed when she sees a pro-choice/pro-life bumper sticker, and her son remind her how the Lord forgave her).

Also, Capitol Hill does one heck of a job playing the Hegelian Dialect over this, with Republicans(the pro-life crowd) and the Democrats(the pro-choice crowd) sparring one another with no end. In the midst of this, the number of abortions continue to grow no matter what party is in power. And oh yeah - both of W's appointments Roberts and Scalia think Roe V. Wade IS the law of the land, and both are Roman Catholic to boot.
