Yeah, even today's churches celebrates Halloween for their kids and youth group. Supposedly, it's "harmless". But supposedly, "soft rock n roll" music is "harmless" as well. And for that matter too, a little MSG at McD's and Jack in the Box is "harmless" too.

Seriously, churches should know full well that Satan's biggest weapon is DECEPTION - he knows his fate is already sealed in the lake of fire, so he just wants to drag as many with him there as possible(as the saying goes, "misery loves company").

Errrr My sister's church celebrates Halloween.  :-\

So does the church I attend with my parents(yeah, it's a 501c3, and shouldn't be anywhere near it) - they call it "trunk or treat".

They can "salt the name" all they want, but it's like trying to add more milk into pepsi "to make it better".

My family completely jumped out of the Halloween vat a couple of years ago.

Back when we were all attending church, some woman (church member#1) handed our child some candy in celebration of the “harvest festival” after the service was over. Note that CM#1 didn’t ask us if this was OK first.

The wife gave the candy back with the explanation that we, as a family, simply choose not to participate in this “holiday”.

About a week later, we get a formal scathing letter from CM#2 accusing us of hurting CM#1’s feelings for not going along with the church program. This is how the church operates.

Since then, I’ve noticed more and more people catching on and refusing to acknowledge this pagan festival. There are still holdouts that place tradition above principles though.

From what I've seen(at least with my experiences), even Churchianity people don't take their kids trick or treating - however, churches will do something to "Christianize" it where they're recognizing this "holiday" and rationalizing how they're spreading the gospel to others.

With that being said - all of that candy they get just makes everyone sick, not to mention all of the poisons like MSG, among other things, they put in them.

How the Devil Uses Halloween to Attack Your Children

Do demons really want to harm my child? The answer is yes. Demons really do want to harm our children and they may use ghosts and goblins to gain access. The greatest danger to children comes from an unseen force. It is Satan and his army of darkness. This evil spiritual army is obsessed with and completely focused on keeping as many men, women and children eternally separated from the love of God and the saving grace of Jesus. We must not assume that our children are not a threat to darkness. The enemy’s purpose is to grip and blind every generation, establishing strongholds in the lives of our children from a very young age.

God created mankind because He has a Father’s heart and He wanted children to love. Just as earthly fathers and mothers long to have children born out of loving relationship, our heavenly Father also yearns for relationship with us, His children. Therefore, from the time we are conceived, through birth and throughout our lives, the enemy will set up traps, snares, and schemes in order to keep us bound to lies of darkness and paralyzed from reaching our fullest kingdom potential.

He is a predator looking to kill, steal, and destroy all that God wants to release in our lives.

We would all agree that at our time in history darkness is alive and well. I do not say this to generate fear. Nor do I believe that Satan is as powerful as our Lord—absolutely not. But we live in a dark time in history, and the following statistics from the Teen Mania website prove that this is the case. This generation is in great need of the truth.

• Ninety-one percent say there is no absolute truth.

• Seventy-five percent of teens in America believe the central message of the Bible is, “God helps those who help themselves.”

• Fifty-three percent believe Jesus committed sin (40 percent of born-again teens believe Jesus committed sin).

This younger generation is seeking. They are going to see, experience, and be a part of the most strategic and intense times in the history of the Christian church. They are going to witness firsthand amazing events unfold in our world and miraculous signs and wonders that even the prophets of the Bible wrote about. But there is a battle of darkness raging to keep them out of the light and in deception.

I love what Paul wrote to his spiritual son Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:11–14, 20, as he obviously knew the dangers that his spiritual son would face and instructed him on how to rise above the traps of the world and the enemy.

Paul exhorts Timothy to flee evil, including all the temptations of money and all the evils associated with it, to pursue righteousness and fight the good fight of faith. Reading these verses causes me to ponder.

Our children, or those raised in the church, are normally taught to flee evil and to follow after righteousness. But I question how well we have done fighting on behalf of our youth and teaching them how to fight the good fight of faith.

The Greek word for fight in this scripture is agonizimai. It means “to enter a contest, to contend with adversaries, struggles and dangers.”

Contend means “to struggle in opposition”; “to wrestle, grapple, battle, fight, compete, argue, wrangle, hold and claim.” Isn’t this what we do in battles with our adversary? We wrestle in battle to fight the competition and struggle against all the arguments of darkness, disputing their hold and taking hold and claiming our freedom and inheritance in the kingdom of God.

Paul understood this. He told Timothy to keep the deposit entrusted to him. Friends, it is our responsibility to guard and keep what God has entrusted to us. We have to step into the knowledge of how to guard and keep not only for our personal lives but also for the lives of our children.

Which is exactly what the NIV preaches - no absolute truth, "God helps those who help themselves" works nonsense, and Jesus committed sin.



Unfortunately, only Republicanism has been taught to these kids since 1980 in terms of who is evil - although recently, it's been more of an Emergent/Purpose Driven works-based.

Halloween indeed should NOT be even recognized by Christians, much less participate in those wicked celebrations, yet obviously the false churches of churchianity are knee deep along with the world in all the pagan hoopla.

And churchianity is the primary problem. Instead of setting an example how people as believers should act, they instead do the same things that unbelievers in the world do.

Wearing costumes for a pagan holiday isn't exactly following in the steps of Jesus.

Speaking of churchianity, the wife and I like to watch the show "Duck Dynasty" mainly because it's wholesome and not full of a bunch of unbelieving clowns acting like reprobates. I like also how Phil closes the show with a very short prayer ("...let thy words be few") at the dinner table, and usually ends it with saying "Jesus", so for that I rejoice.

But Duck Dynasty celebrating Halloween? THAT was a real disappointment. But I must say not surprising as they have shown themselves to be just more products of churchianity, right along with their "preacher" son Alan, who SHOULD be rebuking his family for their pagan practices, and more so the patriarch Phil SHOULD refuse to allow any such things around his house or family.

-It's not edifying
-it's not expedient
-and under the law, it's a sin

So what's their excuse? They have no excuse. Jesus already has told them to repent and to change their ways, to "put off" things concerning the "old man".

Clearly Jesus knows exactly what He's talking about when He says how difficult it is for the rich to enter heaven. The financial success of Duck Dynasty has no doubt made it more difficult for those people to walk in the spirit when they are so deeply entrenched in living like the world does.

Yes - if you go through a lot of the things that have infiltrated society(maybe not everything, but at least 90% of them), you will see that the roots of them came from Churchianity.

For example - take the Sunday School movement - guess who was behind it? Guess what it lead too? Yep - Churchianity, and the national public school system. You see - the socialist indoctrination that is the national public school system wouldn't exist today if Churchianity hadn't bought into the whole Sunday School movement. And for that matter too - evolution wouldn't be been taught anywhere if they hadn't bought into this SS movement.

No - I'm not trying to play the blame game here - but you see prophecy coming to pass from the pages of the bible when you see these things. The same can be said for Halloween, Xmas, Ishtar, etc(ie-Churchianity was the one that bought into bringing this pagan Xmas holiday within their walls in the 1800's).

Even occultists have admitted they laugh when they see these churches celebrating these "holidays". Pt being that even these occultists and witches KNOW these "holidays" are evil.

The Dark Side Of Halloween: The Kind Of Stuff That Real Life Nightmares Are Made Of

On October 31st, tens of millions of Americans will celebrate Halloween by going trick-or-treating or by attending costume parties.  For most people, Halloween is a fun evening of dressing up and eating too much candy, and it is a holiday that is becoming more popular than ever.  According to a recent report from the National Retail Federation, seven out of every 10 Americans plan to celebrate Halloween this year.  That is the highest level that the National Retail Federation has ever recorded.  This year, it is being projected that Americans will spend $6.86 billion on Halloween.  Every year Halloween just keeps getting bigger and bigger.  But there is also a dark side to Halloween.  It is not “politically correct” to talk about this, but the truth is that the way that many people choose to celebrate Halloween is the kind of stuff that real life nightmares are made of.
 
This article is controversial.  If you are going to be very offended or very frightened by what really goes on deep in the woods on Halloween night, then you probably should not read it.
 
It is not “cool” to talk about the dark things that happen on Halloween.  A lot of people will get very upset when they read this article.  But just because people want to deny what is going on does not mean that the horrific rituals and blood sacrifices described below do not exist.
 
So please be warned.  This article is attempting to discuss a very, very controversial subject.  If you think that this may deeply offend or deeply traumatize you, then you might not want to read it.
 
Let’s ease into this slowly.
 
So how exactly did we get this holiday that we call “Halloween”?
 
A recent article posted on Raiders News Update summarized some of the history behind this holiday….
 

ALL HALLOWS’ EVE, or Halloween, originated in the 7th century AD. It was celebrated on 13 May and was a night for remembering deceased saints and martyrs. The date was later changed to November 1 in order to Christianize the pagan holidays Beltane and Samhain–festivals of summer, winter and fire.
 
The Catholic Church attempted to make a very popular pagan festival an official holiday of Catholicism.  But the truth is that Samhain was celebrated for many centuries before “Halloween” was ever invented.  In fact, there are many groups that celebrate Samhain even today.
 
A lot of Protestants did not approve of “Halloween”.  In many areas of early America, Halloween was considered to be so evil that it was banned.  But later on as waves of immigrants from Europe came over the celebration of Halloween began to spread and today it has been overwhelming accepted by most of society.
 
When I was growing up, most children would dress up as ghosts, cartoon characters or super heroes on Halloween.
 
But today, Halloween has become much more “edgy” and much more “seductive”.
 
An article posted on the website of the L.A. Times noted that even girls as young as seven or eight years old are now dressing very “sexy” for Halloween….
 

“Halloween costumes for 7- and 8-year-old girls and even younger have become downright titillating, and for tweens and teens, the vast majority of those sold in stores and on the Internet are unabashedly sexually alluring.”
 
But is this a good thing?  In a recent article for the Washington Times, Tricia Owen lamented how depraved Halloween is becoming….
 

What’s happened to Halloween? I live around the corner from one of those pop-up costume shops, and looking in the window is truly frightening. Not because of all the ghouls and goblins, but because of what can only be described as the debasement of Halloween. There are the sexy nurse, sexy teacher, sexy witch, naughty nun – a seemingly endless supply of not sexy, but R-rated costumes.
 
Since when did Halloween become an excuse to dress so, well, slutty?
 
Unfortunately, the truth is that Halloween was never an “innocent” holiday.  It is just that mainstream America is quite a bit more eager to embrace the darkness of Halloween these days.
 
Most Americans are completely unaware of it, but the reality is that some very, very bizarre rituals take place on Halloween night.  For some, Halloween night is the most important night of the year.
 
There is a reason why many animal shelters and pet stores refuse to adopt out black cats in the weeks leading up to Halloween.
 
The following comes from an article in the New York Daily News….
 

“This is a time when blood rituals take place,” said Hedy Litke, director of animal placement at the ASPCA. “Black cats are often sacrificed.”
 
Once again this Halloween, there will be cats, dogs and other animals that will be tortured and/or sacrificed.
 
The people that work at animal shelters day in and day out know what is going on.  The following is from an article in the Baltimore Sun….
 

“As horrible as this may sound, cats are tortured around Halloween time,” said Deborah Thomas, executive director of the Maryland SPCA, which for years has enforced a virtual moratorium on black cat adoptions in the days before Halloween. “It’s just incredible what people will do to cats, as if they don’t have any feelings.”
 
Reportedly, black cats and white cats are the ones most commonly used in these rituals, but as an article in the L.A. Times noted, these groups will use cats of any color if they are desperate….
 

“There are also so-called religious groups that sacrifice animals,” said Leslie Eppick of the Glendale SPCA. “If desperate, they will take any cat, no matter what color.”
 
For those that love cats, stories like these are absolutely horrifying.  How anyone could treat cats this way is absolutely inconceivable.
 
But this stuff really happens.

The black cat was carried into the woods near a Clayton County, Ga. apartment complex, sprayed with flammable liquid and set on fire.
 
In Stockbridge, Ga., someone tried to chemically burn a devil caricature, horns and all, into the face of a black kitten.
 
As another Halloween approaches, animal activists and animal shelter officials say black cats, always shrouded in superstition, always linked to bad luck, again are at risk for twisted holiday rituals.
 
“I think more happens than we know about,” Deborah Rumbold of PeachState Pet Partners said.
 
In recent years, there has been an explosion of interest in the occult in the United States.  Some of the most popular books, television shows and movies have been about vampires, witches, warlocks, ghosts and dark supernatural phenomena.
 
Unfortunately, some people seem to want to act out these things in real life.  For example, down in Florida recently an 18-year-old girl was charged along with four others of beating a 16-year-old boy to death.
 
What was so strange about this was the fact that the 18-year-old girl actually believes that she is part vampire and part werewolf.
 
The following comes from an article about this bizarre incident from the local NBC affiliate in Miami….
 

Stephanie Pistey confirmed assertions by police in Parker, Fla., that the people involved in the July murder of 16-year-old Jacob Hendershot were in a vampire cult. Pistey, who was arrested last Monday and charged with accessory to murder, said she sees herself as a modern day Dracula.
 
“Since I was like 12 every fiber in my body, basically everything, I know this is going to be crazy, but I believe that I’m a vampire and part werewolf,” Pistey told WBBH-TV.
 
Sadly, this is not just an isolated incident.  Just check out the following description of another “vampire crime” that comes from a recent article by the Christian Post….
 

Just a few months ago, a 19-year-old in Texas, claiming to have been a 500-year-old vampire needing to be fed, broke into a woman’s home, threw her against the wall, and tried to suck her blood.
 
Whether you want to deny it or not, the truth is that there are some people out there that take this stuff very, very seriously.
 
For many of them, Halloween is the highlight of the year.
 
You see, it is not just cats that are abused and sacrificed on Halloween.
 
Children are often involved as well.
 
You won’t find it very often in the mainstream news, but the reality is that a lot of people have come forward with stories of what really happens on Halloween night.
 
If you don’t want to believe what they are saying, then don’t believe it.
 
But that doesn’t mean that it is not happening.

Some of my earliest memories of the ceremony and worship of the dark side that I experienced here follows. One of the hardest involved being up in the canyon at the lodge where they gathered. Very late into the night of the moons shining upon them they would begin. After the normal families left and the “die hards” lit the bonfire and continued to binge on the feasts and drink the hard booze it would commence. There was a man who was the leader. He would “all gather, lets get this thing on the road” and cheers would sound up as the wild tones would echo. I and other kids, children of the others there were in a cabin like building. The big kids would then get the little kid that was chosen by the adults. That night it was me.

There are some groups that actually use “breeders” to produce babies that will be used for child sacrifices.  The following is what Nancy Dunn (who was raised in a Satanist family) recently told CBN….
 

“My father worked in the aerospace industry. My mother worked for a doctor. On the outside just looked normal, but nobody knew what was going on behind closed doors.
 
My father was actually a Satanic high priest, so he did all kinds of evil things. He sexually assaulted me, took me to satanic rituals. My father actually used me as a baby breeder, which means I was impregnated so the Satanists would have a baby to sacrifice to the devil in their Satanic rituals. As soon as I was able to have a baby, I was pregnant.”
 
As I mentioned earlier, it is very controversial to discuss the dark side of Halloween.
 
There is stuff going on out there that is absolutely unimaginable.
 
A lot of people do not want to acknowledge the real life nightmares that happen during Halloween, but refusing to acknowledge them will not make them go away.

Christianity and the Dark Side—What about Halloween?

Over a hundred years ago, the great Dutch theologian Herman Bavinck predicted that the 20th century would “witness a gigantic conflict of spirits.” His prediction turned out to be an understatement, and this great conflict continues into the 21st century.
 
The issue of Halloween presses itself annually upon the Christian conscience. Acutely aware of dangers new and old, many Christian parents choose to withdraw their children from the holiday altogether. Others choose to follow a strategic battle plan for engagement with the holiday. Still others have gone further, seeking to convert Halloween into an evangelistic opportunity. Is Halloween really that significant?
 
Well, Halloween is a big deal in the marketplace. Halloween is surpassed only by Christmas in terms of economic activity. Reporting in 2007, David J. Skal estimated: “Precise figures are difficult to determine, but the annual economic impact of Halloween is now somewhere between 4 billion and 6 billion dollars depending on the number and kinds of industries one includes in the calculations.” As of 2012, that total exceeded $8 billion.
 
Furthermore, historian Nicholas Rogers claims:
 

Halloween is currently the second most important party night in North America. In terms of its retail potential, it is second only to Christmas. This commercialism fortifies its significance as a time of public license, a custom-designed opportunity to have a blast. Regardless of its spiritual complications, Halloween is big business.
 
Rogers and Skal have each produced books dealing with the origin and significance of Halloween. Nicholas Rogers is author of Halloween: From Pagan Ritual to Party Night. Professor of History at York University in Canada, Rogers has written a celebration of Halloween as a transgressive holiday that allows the bizarre and elements from the dark side to enter the mainstream. Skal, a specialist on the culture of Hollywood, has written Death Makes a Holiday: A Cultural History of Halloween. Skal’s approach is more dispassionate and focused on entertainment, looking at the cultural impact of Halloween in the rise of horror movies and the nation’s fascination with violence.
 
The pagan roots of Halloween are well documented. The holiday is rooted in the Celtic festival of Samhain, which came at summer’s end. As Rogers explains, “Paired with the feast of Beltane, which celebrated the life-generating powers of the sun, Samhain beckoned to winter and the dark nights ahead.” Scholars dispute whether Samhain was celebrated as a festival of the dead, but the pagan roots of the festival are indisputable. Questions of human and animal sacrifices and various occultic sexual practices continue as issues of debate, but the reality of the celebration as an occultic festival focused on the changing of seasons undoubtedly involved practices pointing to winter as a season of death.
 
As Rogers comments: “In fact, the pagan origins of Halloween generally flow not from this sacrificial evidence, but from a different set of symbolic practices. These revolve around the notion of Samhain as a festival of the dead and as a time of supernatural intensity heralding the onset of winter.
 
How should Christians respond to this pagan background? Harold L. Myra of Christianity Today argues that these pagan roots were well known to Christians of the past:
 

More than a thousand years ago Christians confronted pagan rites appeasing the lord of death and evil spirits. Halloween’s unsavory beginnings preceded Christ’s birth when the druids, in what is now Britain and France, observed the end of summer with sacrifices to the gods. It was the beginning of the Celtic year and they believed Samhain, the lord of death, sent evil spirits abroad to attack humans, who could escape only by assuming disguises and looking like evil spirits themselves.
 
Thus, the custom of wearing costumes, especially costumes imitating evil spirits, is rooted in the Celtic pagan culture. As Myra summarizes, “Most of our Halloween practices can be traced back to the old pagan rites and superstitions.”
 
The complications of Halloween go far beyond its pagan roots, however. In modern culture, Halloween has become not only a commercial holiday, but a season of cultural fascination with evil and the demonic. Even as the society has pressed the limits on issues such as sexuality, the culture’s confrontation with the “dark side” has also pushed far beyond boundaries honored in the past.
 
As David J. Skal makes clear, the modern concept of Halloween is inseparable from the portrayal of the holiday presented by Hollywood. As Skal comments, “The Halloween machine turns the world upside down. One’s identity can be discarded with impunity. Men dress as women, and vice versa. Authority can be mocked and circumvented, and, most important, graves open and the departed return.”
 
This is the kind of material that keeps Hollywood in business. “Few holidays have a cinematic potential that equals Halloween’s,” comments Skal. “Visually, the subject is unparalleled, if only considered in terms of costume design and art direction. Dramatically, Halloween’s ancient roots evoke dark and melodramatic themes, ripe for transformation into film’s language of shadow and light.”
 
But television’s “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” (which debuted in 1966) has given way to Hollywood’s “Halloween” series and the rise of violent “slasher” films. Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff have been replaced by Michael Myers and Freddy Kruger.
 
This fascination with the occult comes as America has been sliding into post-Christian secularism. While the courts remove all theistic references from America’s public square, the void is being filled with a pervasive fascination with evil, paganism, and new forms of occultism.
 
In addition to all this, Halloween has become downright dangerous in many neighborhoods. Scares about razor blades hidden in apples and poisoned candy have spread across the nation in recurring cycles. For most parents, the greater fear is the encounter with occultic symbols and the society’s fascination with moral darkness.
 
For this reason, many families withdraw from the holiday completely. Their children do not go trick-or-treating, they wear no costumes, and they attend no parties related to the holiday. Some churches have organized alternative festivals, capitalizing on the holiday opportunity, but turning the event away from pagan roots and the fascination with evil spirits. For others, the holiday presents no special challenges at all.
 
These Christians argue that the pagan roots of Halloween are no more significant than the pagan origins of Christmas and other church festivals. Without doubt, the church has progressively Christianized the calendar, seizing secular and pagan holidays as opportunities for Christian witness and celebration. Anderson M. Rearick, III argues that Christians should not surrender the holiday. As he relates, “I am reluctant to give up what was one of the highlights of my childhood calendar to the Great Imposter and Chief of Liars for no reason except that some of his servants claim it as his.”
 
Nevertheless, the issue is a bit more complicated than that. While affirming that make-believe and imagination are part and parcel of God’s gift of imagination, Christians should still be very concerned about the focus of that imagination and creativity. Arguing against Halloween is not equivalent to arguing against Christmas. The old church festival of “All Hallow’s Eve” is by no means as universally understood among Christians as the celebration of the incarnation at Christmas.
 
Christian parents should make careful decisions based on a biblically-informed Christian conscience. Some Halloween practices are clearly out of bounds. Others may be strategically transformed, but this takes hard work and may meet with mixed success.
 
The coming of Halloween is a good time for Christians to remember that evil spirits are real and that the Devil will seize every opportunity to trumpet his own celebrity. Perhaps the best response to the Devil at Halloween is that offered by Martin Luther, the great Reformer: “The best way to drive out the devil, if he will not yield to texts of Scripture, is to jeer and flout him for he cannot bear scorn.”
 
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther began the Reformation with a declaration that the church must be recalled to the authority of God’s Word and the purity of biblical doctrine. With this in mind, the best Christian response to Halloween might be to scorn the Devil and then pray for the Reformation of Christ’s church on earth. Let’s put the dark side on the defensive.

From a lot of videos I've seen and articles I've read the last couple of years - "prominent" people in local, state, and national communities are likely involved in this(whether politics, business, sports, medical, etc) - the more I think about it, the more I'm not surprised b/c pretty much they bring a lot of talents to the table that leave you scratching your head. I was initiated into Halloween in 1959.  I was four-years-old.  My grandmother let me choose a costume at the Five and Dime. I went straight for a latex red devil mask that came with shiny red rayon cape.

When I wore the mask, I felt transformed into something more powerful than my four-year-old self.  After Halloween night, my grandmother took it away because I persisted in wearing it. Neighbors were beginning to talk.

"The person wearing the mask feels internally transformed and takes on temporarily the qualities of the god or demon represented by the mask" (Biedermann, Hans. Dictionary of Symbolism, p. 218)

Now I'm sick of Halloween.  I've become sensitive to how casually Americans watch the daily **** of slaughter called 'the news.'  Real blood and corpses alternate with staged violence and comedy on HDTV screens.

Now I dread the time when rubber skulls pop up on neighbor's lawns, and   supermarkets look like they hired the set director from "the Killing Fields".

But don't worry.  If skulls and rotting zombies don't turn you on, Halloween has also become about kinky sex!   How 'bout handing out candy to little girls dressed like Lady Gaga and little boys dressed in spandex tights.

At a pre-Halloween party in my neighborhood, I was dumbfounded that the children's costumes all have GENDER BENDING themes this year.  Girls dressed like leather bikers, one was a soldier,  and boys wearing fruity body stockings under the guise of 'superheros'.

One girl was a Supreme Court justice in a black robe and tie, another girl was Suffragette wearing a banner that said "Women's Right to Vote".  One boy was wearing a body stocking and long hair hot pink wig - I have no idea who that was supposed to be... but it was the faggiest damn costume I've ever seen on a straight kid.  The scary part is that we've reached the point where parents really don't know any better but to dress their boys like fruits and the girls either slutty - or butch.

DATES TO ROMAN TIMES

My grandmother explained that Halloween is part of our family heritage. It was the ancient harvest festival called Samhain (pronounced "sah-win").   It came from the old religion of the Druids, and she showed me a picture of Stonehenge in an old encyclopedia.

Julius Caesar described the Druid Samhain harvest festival in 'The Gallic Wars'.  He described the Druids as a theocracy that enslaved the peasant population through terror.  The joy of harvest festival was combined with mass human sacrifices, when thousands of men, women and children were burned alive in giant 'Wicker Man' structures.

wickerman.jpgCaesar wrote, "Druids administer these sacrifices. Large effigies interwoven with twigs, the limbs of which are filled up with living people which are set on fire from below, and the people are deprived of life surrounded by flames."

First century Roman historian Strabo recorded in his "Geography":

"The Romans put a stop both to these customs and to the ones connected with sacrifice and divination, as they were in conflict with our own ways."

So it was the Romans - not the Christians - that broke up the Druid theocracy.    A few centuries after the Druids demise, the Roman Empire collapsed and was replaced by the Roman Church, that in turn Christianized most of the festivals.  The Samhain belief that spirits of the dead and demons roam the nights of the Harvest Festival became "All Saints Day".

The masked and cloaked Druid priests of old were replaced with peasant in masks and costumes.  Instead of demanding a family member in return for magical protection from spirits, the Christianized visitor asked for food in return for saying a prayer for departed members of the household.  But All Saints Day has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the Bible.

For nearly two thousand years, the barbaric Druid rituals were forbidden.  It may surprise you to realize that the Gallic Druid mass sacrifice tradition was resurrected by the Illuminati during the French Revolution. Rivers of Christian blood flooded the gutters of Paris.  Robespierre himself presided the "Festival of the Supreme Being" June 8th, 1794 in the midst of ten months of non-stop human sacrifice.

Sixteen Carmelite nuns of Compiègne were guillotined on 17 July 1794 for the crime of refusing to take off their habits and renounce their vows.  Since then the ancient festivals have been relentlessly resurrected under various covers.



PRESENT DAY

There's more to Halloween masks than changing suits.  The person wearing the mask feels internally transformed and takes on temporarily the qualities of the god or demon represented by the mask.

Since Halloween 1974, I've seen several cases Jekyll and Hyde personality phenomenon at Halloween parties.

The pro-pagan 'Pagan Book of Halloween'  by Wiccan  Gerina. Dunwich, admits, "Some say that Halloween brings out the evil side of human nature in certain individuals. The number of vandalism acts committed each year on Halloween certainly seems to support this." . . ( The Pagan Book of Halloween, p. 23)

There's also a statistical spike of rapes associated with costume parties, especially if drugs are involved.

HELL-NIGHT.jpgDevil's Night or Hell Night is a crime wave of Halloween violence and vandalism. The most famous and destructive was 'Hell Night' in  Detroit, Michigan from the 70s through the 90s which crossed the line from smashing windows to major and widespread arson,  gun fights, and murder.

In case readers are wondering, there never was a Jewish connection to Halloween at all.  Jewish religious schools warn parents against observance of  Halloween or Halloween parties or trick or treat because "observance of Halloween is pagan and therefore destructive to the Jewish educational process". Obviously, Halloween is destructive to the Christian educational process too - yet I see every year most churches and their schools actually hold major Halloween festivals.

CONCLUSION

Halloween was designed to be a framework for self initiation into the Luciferian way of thinking. Once a minor toe hold of the occult in modern life, why has Halloween imagery and obsession with lust and death become the mainstay of the entertainment industry?  Notice that as Halloween mushroomed since 1966, so has obsession and 'revolution' of perverted sex, the occult, and admiration of serial killers and psychotics.

If Jewish religious schools caution parents that observance of Halloween is pagan and therefore destructive to the Jewish educational process, that should also apply to Christian and Muslim parents.   Halloween is religious indoctrination and formation into Druid paganism, witchcraft, and Satanism.

The Darker Side of a Dark Holiday: Where Did Halloween Come From? (Pt. 1)

Every October, as leaves and temperature fall, a certain festive change takes place across the United States.

Spooky decorations mark houses and other buildings, scary movies dominate primetime television, and candy sales skyrocket.  It is the season of Halloween, a holiday known for its haunted houses, costumes, trick-or-treating, and creepy imagery.

Yet where did such a modern holiday come from?

According to The History Channel website, the earliest observances resembling the modern concept of Halloween came with the Celts.  "It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts," reads an entry on its website.

As the Roman Catholic Church came to dominate European life and religion, the pagan holiday was given a Christian connotation, reported Katharine Whittemore of the Boston Globe.

"Just as the early Christian Church overlaid Christmas on a pagan winter solstice festival, and Easter on spring solstice, Halloween became tied to harvest time and All Saints Day, celebrated on Nov. 1 - 'hallow' sprung from the Old English word for 'holy' and 'e'en' is a contraction of 'evening,' thus 'Halloween' for the night before," wrote Whittemore.

And thus Oct. 31, "All Hallows Eve," became the day of vigil for All Saints' Day. Various parts of Europe came to celebrate the occasion in different ways, noted Bernd Biege of about.com.

"In Britain All Hallows was celebrated with a procession ... of children dressed up as saints, angels and devils," wrote Biege.  "And they were rewarded for their enthusiasm with 'soul cakes', sweet biscuits. And in Brittany All Hallows was connected to pranks, some of them quite macabre."

Attaching Halloween to All Saints' Day was well established in the medieval Catholic Church, wrote Scott P. Richert in an article about All Saints Day on about.com.

"The current date of November 1 was instituted by Pope Gregory III (731-741), when he consecrated a chapel to all the martyrs in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and ordered an annual celebration," wrote Richert.

"This celebration was originally confined to the diocese of Rome, but Pope Gregory IV (827-844) extended the feast to the entire Church and ordered it to be celebrated on November 1."

Halloween's as a more distinctive and independent celebration came later on, with The History Channel site noting that as time passed, "Halloween evolved into a secular, community-based event characterized by child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating."

Halloween's transformation came via a mixture of immigrant practices and changing social norms in the United States, reads an entry on the University of Albany's website.

"In the second half of the nineteenth century, America was flooded with new immigrants including the Irish fleeing from the potato famine in Ireland in 1846. By combining Irish and English traditions, Americans began the 'trick-or-treat' tradition," reads the entry in part.

"In the later 1800's the holiday became more centered on community and in the 1920's and 1930's, Halloween became 'a secular, but community-centered holiday'. In the 1950's leaders changed Halloween as a holiday aimed at the young to limit vandalism. This all led to what Halloween actually is like today."

The Darker Side of a Dark Holiday: Should Christians Believe in Paranormal Activities? (Pt. 2)

Halloween is a holiday known for its haunted houses, costume parties, kids trick-or-treating, and various scary imagery on screens big and small.  The final day of October is also a time associated with darker ideas, like the Occult, witchcraft, and other unexplained phenomenon.

Many of these images dominate movies and television programs during late October, showcasing to mainstream America spiritual notions known as the "paranormal." According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, when something is paranormal it is "very strange and not able to be explained by what scientists know about nature and the world."  The term involves a fairly diverse group of activities and entities, including the Occult, psychics, spirits, and other supernatural phenomenon.

So, should Christians believe in paranormal activity?

Dr. Rick Walston, author and president of Columbia Evangelical Seminary in Buckley, Wash., told The Christian Post that much of what falls under the category of "paranormal activity" is fake.

"I would say that much, perhaps most, of the 'paranormal activity' that is shown on TV is nothing more than con artists plying their trade," said Walston.

"Many people get sucked into the idea that a psychic medium can communicate with their dead loved ones, but in reality they are simply scam artists who prey on the emotions and gullibility of those who desperately want to reconnect with their dead loved ones."

Walston did add that while most occurrences dubbed "paranormal" are false or hoaxes, such events are not impossible.

"Yet, there can be real paranormal activity; however, the mere fact that the word 'paranormal' means 'beyond normal' indicates that this activity does not come from man, but from a source beyond man," said Walston.

"The question is then, is this source godly or demonic?"

A warning against encountering things connected to the paranormal is strongly suggested by the website gotquestions.org.

"Christians should avoid any and all contact with the paranormal," reads an entry on how Christians should "respond to evidence of paranormal activity."

"Our response to paranormal activity, at least as it pertains to any sort of demonic activity, is to be reminded of the evil which ultimately led to our Savior's great sacrifice."

Compelling Truth, a website affiliated with gotquestions.org, stated in an entry about the topic that Christians "need to be alert."

"The Bible is clear what we should do in regards to ungodly paranormal activity: avoid it. Ephesians 4:27 says to not give it a foothold. James 4:7 says that confrontations with Satan are inevitable, but if we resist him, he will flee. We are not to seek out demonic paranormal activity, even for the purpose of defeating it (Jude 1:8-10)," reads the entry in part.

Halloween is a holiday known for its haunted houses, late evening costume parties, neighborhood trick-or-treating, and various scary stories on screens big and small.

The end of October holiday is also a time associated with darker ideas such as ghosts, demons, and even spiritual possessions.  Throughout the year, and in certain places, such disturbing topics are pondered and debated, with some believing that such things exist and other dismissing them as mythology.

What should Christians believe about the issues of ghosts, demons, and possession of human beings by spirits?

Dr. Rick Walston, author, professor, and president of Columbia Evangelical Seminary, told The Christian Post that demons and spiritual possession are real.

"Christians should mentally acknowledge that demons exist. The reason why is simple: the Bible identifies demons as existing," said Walston.

"And, even Jesus himself dealt with demons (Matthew 8) and taught about their activities…Jesus' apostles also dealt with demonic activity (Luke 10:17-20; Acts 16: 16-18). As most already know, demons are fallen angels that followed Satan during his rebellion against God."

Regarding ghosts, Walston cautioned that a careful definition of terms has to be in play when discussing whether or not "ghosts" exist.

"The way that most define, or understand, the term 'ghost' is that it is the spirit of a dead loved one who stays near living relatives and in some cases even communicates with them," said Walston to CP.

"The reality is that the deceased do not linger in a between-earth-and-heaven state from which they can communicate. The apostle Paul indicates that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). And, in Jesus' parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16), he clearly says that though the rich man wanted to get a message to his living family, he would not be able to do so."

Since people do not remain on earth after death, argued Walston, those who may have experienced ghostly visions that cannot be reasonably explained have encountered demons instead.

"Many claims have been made that houses, for example, are haunted. By this they mean that the malevolent spirit (or ghost) of a deceased person inhabits the house and intends to do harm to those who live there. Others claim that they have encountered good ghosts of deceased persons," said Walston.

"In both cases, if the paranormal activity is real and not the imaginings of the people, these 'ghosts' are really demons impersonating deceased loved ones."

Last night, a couple of houses down from me lives a pastor who threw a Halloween party for the youth(as cars were filling the street).

Yeah, amazing how the modern-day church has no clue over the sinister and dark origins of this "holiday". And I myself was guilty of this for years and years(so I'm not trying to put myself up on a pedestial or anything).

You should have went and handed out tracts against that.   :D

I thought about that - but at the same time, that verse "if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a ditch...let them alone" verse came to mind. If it were unbelievers, then maybe, but again, it was the Churchianity crowd where it would be better to not cast our pearls before swine.

I don't recall a situation where Jesus and or the disciples were in a temple and somebody repented while they were there speaking. Seems like all those times happened outside and away from organized religion. My point being that it appears to me that walking into a churchianity building and calling for them to repent would likely fall on deaf ears. Might as well walk into a satanic temple, because you'd most likely get about the same results. As scripture says, there is a time for everything, a time to be bold, and a time to be silent, and by relying on the Spirit to move us, we can see when it's better to avoid interaction with somebody, just as clearly as we are moved when it is time to approach or interact with someone.

By faith, we can't say when one situation or the other might arise, nor are we to take thought about what we shall say "in that hour", but indeed there are times to not cast your pearls when you find yourself before swine.

The Pagan Roots Of Halloween

Most people that celebrate Halloween have absolutely no idea what they are actually celebrating.  Even though approximately 70 percent of Americans will participate in Halloween festivities once again this year, the vast majority of them are clueless about the fact that this is a holiday that is thousands of years old and that has deeply pagan roots.  If you are going to celebrate something, shouldn’t you at least know what you are celebrating?  Before it was ever known as Halloween, this festival was known as Samhain.  According to Wikipedia, Samhain “is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literature and is known to have pre-Christian roots”.  The ancient Celts believed that Samhain was the time when the veil between the spirit world and our world was lifted and the ghosts of the dead were able to freely mingle with the living.  It was also a time to honor the Lord of the Dead known as Bel (note the similarity to Baal) or Chrom.  Almost every major Halloween tradition including the jack-o’-lantern, trick-or-treating and wearing costumes is rooted in ancient Celtic practices.  In many areas of early America, Halloween was considered to be so evil that it was banned.  But today most Americans don’t even think twice about celebrating it.

To most people these days, Halloween is just a fun time to dress up, eat candy and attend parties.

But there are others that take this holiday extremely seriously.

For Wiccans, it is one of the most important times of the year.  The following description of Samhain comes from wicca.com…

    Samhain, (pronounced SOW-in, SAH-vin, or SAM-hayne) means “End of Summer”, and is the third and final Harvest. The dark winter half of the year commences on this Sabbat.

    It is generally celebrated on October 31st, but some traditions prefer November 1st. It is one of the two “spirit-nights” each year, the other being Beltane. It is a magical interval when the mundane laws of time and space are temporarily suspended, and the Thin Veil between the worlds is lifted. Communicating with ancestors and departed loved ones is easy at this time, for they journey through this world on their way to the Summerlands. It is a time to study the Dark Mysteries and honor the Dark Mother and the Dark Father, symbolized by the Crone and her aged Consort.

    Originally the “Feast of the Dead” was celebrated in Celtic countries by leaving food offerings on altars and doorsteps for the “wandering dead”. Today a lot of practitioners still carry out that tradition. Single candles were lit and left in a window to help guide the spirits of ancestors and loved ones home. Extra chairs were set to the table and around the hearth for the unseen guest. Apples were buried along roadsides and paths for spirits who were lost or had no descendants to provide for them. Turnips were hollowed out and carved to look like protective spirits, for this was a night of magic and chaos. The Wee Folke became very active, pulling pranks on unsuspecting humans. Traveling after dark was was not advised. People dressed in white (like ghosts), wore disguises made of straw, or dressed as the opposite gender in order to fool the Nature spirits.

So how in the world did a pagan festival known as Samhain become the holiday known as “Halloween” that we celebrate today?

Well, in the early seventh century a Catholic Pope known as Gregory the First decided that the best approach to ensure the continued spread of Catholicism was to “christianize” existing pagan holidays and practices…

    As a result of their efforts to wipe out “pagan” holidays, such as Samhain, the Christians succeeded in effecting major transformations in it. In 601 A.D. Pope Gregory the First issued a now famous edict to his missionaries concerning the native beliefs and customs of the peoples he hoped to convert. Rather than try to obliterate native peoples’ customs and beliefs, the pope instructed his missionaries to use them: if a group of people worshipped a tree, rather than cut it down, he advised them to consecrate it to Christ and allow its continued worship.

An existing Catholic festival known as All Saints Day (or All Hallows Day) was moved to the same time as Samhain.  Eventually, All Hallows Eve became known as “Halloween”, but many of the ancient Celtic traditions never disappeared.

Most people don’t realize this, but some of these ancient traditions even involved human sacrifice.  The following is what occult expert Bill Schnoebelen says the Druids would do at this time of the year…

    Druids worshiped the sun god, called by names like Bel (Ba’al?) or Chrom. On October 31, they believed that he died and went into the kingdom of the dead, Anwynn. The purpose of Samhain was to insure his return. Even witches admit this involved human sacrifice.

    Both animal and human blood were believed to be needed to resurrect Bel on Samhain. Human blood was believed to open the gates of Anwynn and released the spirits for a night. Thus, October 31 came to be associated with ghosts. This is not just history. Samhain is still celebrated by Pagans and is the most solemn ceremony on their “religious calendar”.

And of course it is not just Bill Schnoebelen that teaches this.  In fact, the May 1977 edition of National Geographic admitted that Samhain was a time when “firstborn children were sacrificed”.

So back then it definitely was not the light-hearted holiday that most Americans celebrate today.

Other “Halloween traditions” also have their roots in the Druidic practices of the ancient Celts.

For example, have you ever wondered where the “Jack-0-Lantern” comes from?  Here is more from Schnoebelen…

    Here it’s a pumpkin, but in Europe it was often a turnip, or a skull with a candle in it. This serves two symbols, 1) the lord of the Dead, a “god” just like a Buddha – in short, an idol. 2) The fearsome face represented the god, Samhain, who would drive off less powerful demons that night. The lights in the Jack-o-Lantern symbolize the “faery fires” or “Will’o the Wisps” which were believed to be the lost souls flitting through the night. They also hearken back to the huge Samhain “balefires” which were lit to help conjure back the god from the darkness.

The traditions of dressing up in costumes and going trick-or-treating also come from the Druids.  The following is an excerpt from an article posted on CBN.com…

    For example, among the ancient Druids, “The ghosts that were thought to throng about the houses of the living were greeted with a banquet-laden table. At the end of the feast, masked and costumed villagers representing the souls of the dead paraded to the outskirts of town leading the ghosts away.”

    As already noted, Halloween was thought to be a night when mischievous and evil spirits roamed freely. As in modern poltergeist lore, mischievous spirits could play tricks on the living—so it was advantageous to “hide” from them by wearing costumes. Masks and costumes were worn to either scare away the ghosts or to keep from being recognized by them:

    In Ireland especially, people thought that ghosts and spirits roamed after dark on Halloween. They lit candles or lanterns to keep the spirits away, and if they had to go outside, they wore costumes and masks to frighten the spirits or to keep from being recognized by these unearthly beings.

You may say that “it doesn’t mean that to me”, but even today there are large numbers of people that take this stuff deadly seriously.

On page 96 of the Satanic Bible, Anton LaVey wrote the following…

    “After one’s own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht (May 1st) and Halloween.”

Most people will never see it, but in dark corners and out of the way places some incredibly sinister things will take place in America on Halloween night.

Just like for the ancient Celts, there are people out there that truly believe that it is a night to commune with the spirits.

If you are a pagan, you probably already know all of this stuff.

If you are not a pagan, you might want to think twice before you do things that could potentially open up doorways to the spirit realm.

Kirk Cameron has lately offered some outrageously faulty logic regarding Halloween. According to Cameron, Halloween was originally a Christian holiday that has since been co-opted by Satan worshippers.

“Early on, Christians would dress up in costumes as the devil, ghosts, goblins and witches precisely to make the point that those things were defeated and overthrown by the resurrected Jesus Christ,” Cameron told The Christian Post. “The costumes poke fun at the fact that the devil and other evils were publicly humiliated by Christ at His resurrection. Cameron then goes on to confuse pagans with Satanists, and claim that they have tried to steal the holy day from Christians.

“Over time you get some pagans who want to go, ‘This is our day, high holy day of the Satanic church,’ that this is all about death, but Christians have always known since the first century that death was defeated, that the grave was overwhelmed, that ghosts, goblins, devils are foolish has-beens who used to be in power but not anymore. “The real origins have a lot to do with All Saints Day and All Hallows Eve,” Cameron said. “If you go back to old church calendars, especially Catholic calendars, they recognize the holiday All Saints Day, with All Hallows Eve the day before, when they would remember the dead. That’s all tied in to Halloween.”

Cameron’s retrofitting of the “real origins” of Halloween just don’t measure up to history.

The History Channel website explains Halloween as “evolving from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain. The Celts used the day to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, and also believed that this transition between the seasons was a bridge to the world of the dead.”

In fact, All Saints’ Day (All Hallows’ Day) was originally celebrated on May 13, starting in A.D. 609. There were no masks of ghouls. The date was changed in A.D. 835 to November 1. The already-long-existing Samhain celebration, which did feature the trappings of the dead and masks, became “Christianized” as All Hallows’ Eve, or Hallowe’en.

The “Satanic Church,” which Cameron fallaciously equates with paganism, was not established until 1966. As for their use of Halloween as a “high holiday,” their own policies state:

“There is no worship in Satanism. Animal sacrifice is not permitted in Satanic rites and ceremonies… Since Satanism is a self-centered religion, the highest holiday of the year would be the Satanist’s own birthday, which needs no ritual but should be spent in doing things a Satanist would enjoy. There is no requirement that a Satanist celebrate any holidays, and there are no hard and fast traditions or rites associated with them. Since Satanism embraces Nature, the other holidays a Satanist might choose to celebrate would be the seasonal turning points marked by the equinoxes and solstices – the dates of which vary from year to year, as well as the mid points between these which can be recognized as the climaxes of each season. In particular, April 30th, called Walpurgisnacht, is the Spring climax and the anniversary of the founding of the Church of Satan and is generally noted. Halloween, October 31, is the Fall climax and may be celebrated as a time when one’s inner-self might be explored through the use of a costume, or one might recall those of importance in one’s life who have died – as was done on that night in European tradition.”

So, Satanism’s use of the Halloween holiday has nothing to do with worshipping Satan, nor is it “all about death.”

Back in 2006, Cameron’s comrade-in-arms, Ray Comfort, told the world that he could prove there was a Creator. He said the humble banana was all the proof he needed.

“Behold, the atheists’ nightmare!”, Comfort declared, then proceeded to highlight different features of a common banana as proof of intelligent design by God. Comfort pointed out:

* The banana is shaped to fit into the human hand.
* It comes with a protective, non-slip surface to hold, which is also biodegradable and sits “gracefully” over the human hand.
* It is curved towards the face for ease of consumption and does not squirt in one’s face during the act.
* There is a “pull tab” at the “top” for easy access.
* It has a simple colour code to show ripeness: Green; too early. Yellow; just right. Black; too late.

Soon after Comfort released his “findings”, many people were quick to point out that he had forgotten one critical fact about that banana: It has been genetically modified through centuries of breeding and artificial selection. It has, indeed, been intelligently “designed”, not by any higher power, but by growers.

Bananas in their original form are small, hard pods with inedible seeds. To exist and look the way they do now requires constant grower intervention. These bananas do not even have reproduction capability since they have no seeds. Without a person to intentionally transplant cuttings, they would quickly die out entirely.

Cameron and Comfort are also famous for “editing” Darwin’s On the Origin of the Species classic, omitting parts that conflict with their Creationism views, and adding a foreword to try to convince their target college student audience that the book was false.

A Theory About Charles Schultz and The Great Pumpkin

I wish I could remember where I read or hear this, but someone theorized that Charles Schultz was mocking the idea of Santa Claus being presented to children via Linus and the Great Pumpkin. Remember Charles Schultz claimed once to be born again as a member of the First Church of God, though in his later life, it does seem he fell away from the faith and grew more liberal. It would be interesting if the real meaning of this was to mock bringing children to the false "god" of Santa Claus. I hate when children are told to write letters to Santa Claus. It is like Linus writing letters to a false being too, that being a giant pumpkin. Schulz admits here, that the whole thing is a parody of Christmas.

MIKE CALLS KIRK CAMERON TO REPENT

Kirk Cameron, who has been making appearances promoting a new documentary film, is now being called to repentance after raising concerns by statements he made encouraging Christians to celebrate Halloween. Cameron, best known his role as Mike Seaver on the 80’s TV sitcom Growing Pains, is on a mission, not only to save “Christmas,” but to also save Halloween according to a recent interview with The Christian Post.

During the interview, Kirk discussed his new film “Saving Christmas,” which attempts to debunk various concerns on the pagan origins of the holiday and encourages support for the various annual traditions from trees to Santa Claus. However, Cameron likewise encouraged Christians to celebrate Halloween, stating that “Christians should have the biggest Halloween party on your block.” The actor explained his views by saying that “The real origins have to do with All Saints Day and all Hallows Eve.” “If you go back to old church calendars, especially Catholic calendars, they recognize the holiday All Saints Day, with All Hallows Eve the day before, when they would remember the dead. That’s all tied to Halloween.”

Mike Gendron told Christian News Network that he does not agree, stating that the historical origins of Halloween are connected to the pagan practices of Roman Catholicism, and that its affiliations are far removed from biblical Christianity.

“The two faiths are diametrically opposed to one another,” Gendron stated. “I strongly disagree with Kirk Cameron and would encourage him to avoid celebrating anything that has to do with the pagan practices of the apostate Roman Catholic Church,” he said.

Gendron explained that according to the Catholic Encyclopedia, the origin of All Hallows Eve goes back the the 11th century Catholic monks who set aside a day to pray for the dead.

“Very quickly a tradition of baking cakes for diseased people emerged. People would go to cemeteries at nightfall to kneel at the graves of their loved ones, and to anoint the hollow of the tombstone with holy water,” Gendron continued.

Gendron is concerned that the connections with the pagan holiday originated because of Catholicism’s fabrication of a place called purgatory where Catholics must go after they die to have their sins purged by fire before they could enter into heaven.

“The reason Martin Luther posted his 95 thesis on a church door on Oct. 31, 1517 was because the very next day, All Saints Day, Catholics would be coming to the church to venerate the bones and relics of dead ‘saints’. The Castle Church of Wittenberg had over 1900 relics of dead ‘saints’ on display. Catholics were granted indulgences for the remission of sins if they venerated the relics and made confession of their sins. This practice of necromancy is strictly forbidden by God who commands us ‘Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them’ (Leviticus 19:31). ‘Whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord’ (Deut. 18:9-12).”

Gendron admonished Cameron to repent of his message that encourages Christians to celebrate Halloween.

“Kirk Cameron needs to repent of his message that urges Christians to participate in this dark holiday that glorifies the devil, ghosts, goblins and witches. Furthermore, the celebration of Halloween obscures and overshadows the anniversary of the Reformation, one of the great dates of the Christian calendar,” Gendron stated. “On October 31st while Kirk Cameron is urging people to celebrate Halloween, our ministry will be encouraging people to remember the Reformers who were brutally tortured, murdered and burned at the stake by the Roman Catholic Church for defending the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” he concluded.

In a recent talk at Liberty University, Cameron associated criticisms on the pagan origins of holidays to Chinese food, using sarcasm to mock those who would object to celebrating over pagan concerns. Cameron ended the talk by stating that the earth is the Lord’s and everything it contains, everything God created is sacred, and the whole earth belongs to Him, implying that Christians are allowed to enjoy worldly traditions.

Myself personally, I dislike all the Gentile holidays except for Thanksgiving and my dislike for them is pretty intense. Probably more intense then yours. I actually like the practice of calling it the holiday instead of christmas which sort of moves the thing backwards towards its Roman roots.

Sadly, I've seen even good, KJB ministries endorse xmas and these other pagan holidays. The Apostate church celebrating them is no surprise to me - but on the contrary, these very good, discerning KJB ministries SHOULD know better.


I hear the pro-xmas crowd use this verse to justify celebrating this to no end - honestly, I see it as the OTHER WAY AROUND - for those that DON'T celebrate them, it's THE pro-xmas crowd that's DOING the "judging" toward us(ie-telling us how we're not respecting some "holyday").

I really do like seeing what other Christian think about Biblical issues so I appriciate the feedback. In spite of my disdain for the various holidays I try to avoid being openly critical of others about it. I think it tends to do more harm then good because it plays into the negative stereotype perceptions of Christians. If a philosophical conversation pops up I`m pretty open because in that situation it doesn`t come across as threatening or meanspirited. I relate well to people who for various reasons don`t enjoy christmas and I very much enjoy explaining to people why it`s ok to not like the holiday. Often times you can find people who have guilt because they don`t have the happiness and joy the christmas mythology is supposed to give everybody.

Regarding the verse, this one along with Romans 14 can be used to justify celebrating or not celebrating. Romans 14 cuts both ways.

I think it strengthens your argument to add the proper context and perspective although doing so opens another can of worms so to speak. The issues that Paul addresses with the Romans and the Colossians are a bit different then ones we face today. There has to be some allowence for that.

That being said, near as I can tell early Christians did not observe pagan holidays because they all revolved around worship of false gods. One can argue that the modern holidays do not involve idol worship but the pagan roots are there and if the hair is split one can argue that it is idol worship. That is all a matter of ones heart in my view.

Paul did allow the eating of meat that had been sacrificed to idols and he also allowed not eating it. Implies that some of them may have ate meals at pagan temples which would have involved attending the celebration, eating the food, not offending the host but not participating in the ceremonies and idolatry (my opinion). It also could be that the idol meat came from the local market and wasn`t properly labled as such.
Wouldn`t always be possible to tell if the meat was tainted by idolatry or not.

The worm can is this. Ok, so they didn`t celebrate christmas but just what were these holydays, moons, and sabbath days? The fact is, Paul is talking about Jewish holidays and they were observed and enjoyed by early Christians both Jewish and Gentile, some of the Gentiles, probably most of them were breaking some of the food rules  >:( and Paul supported their right to do so in the epistles  8)

The early church was rooted in a lot of Jewish culture. When you track down the early church traditions that is what you find. Unfortunately for us the Roman church purged it all out and replaced it with the paganism that pollutes Christianity.

18 Reasons Why I Don’t Celebrate Halloween

This year, 64 percent of all Americans will celebrate Halloween, but I will not be one of them.  For me, it is a wretched, horrible holiday that celebrates the darkest side of humanity, and it is deeply rooted in ancient pagan traditions that would get people thrown in prison if they attempted to duplicate them today.  With each passing year, the sexually suggestive costumes being marketed to our young girls become even skankier, the horror movies become darker and even more demonic, and the number of Americans that participate in occult ceremonies just continues to grow.  In fact, it has been estimated that the number of self-identified witches in the United States is doubling every 30 months.  Those that are deeply into the occult take this holiday very seriously, and the dark forces that they are dealing with are very real.  So no, I don’t want anything to do with this festival of death.  In no particular order, the following are 18 reasons why I don’t celebrate Halloween…

#1 I don’t want anyone in my family to observe a holiday that celebrates death, witchcraft and the occult.  This year, millions of Americans will participate in activities that could potentially open up a door for demonic activity.

#2 The average American spends $74.34 on the holiday.  I would rather save the money.

#3 Millions of women use Halloween as an excuse to dress like street walkers, and millions of men use Halloween as an excuse to act like sexual predators.

#4 Even little girls as young as three years old are being dressed up in sexually provocative costumes.  What kind of message does this send to them?

#5 Dressing up little children as ghosts, demons and vampires is not healthy for them.  In recent years, there has been a trend to make costumes for children as hellish as possible.

#6 Originally, costumes were worn on October 31st “to change the personality of the wearer to allow for communication with the spirit world“.  For 11 years in a row, dressing up as a witch has been the number one costume choice for adults in the United States.

#7 In ancient Britain, the festival known as Samhain was celebrated on October 31st.  It was supposedly a day when dead souls would revisit their old homes.  Personally, I don’t want anything to do with contacting the souls of the dead.

#8 According to the History Channel, Samhain was also the day when the Druids “gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities”.

#9 As I have written about previously, the fastest growing religion in America still practices a holiday known as “Samhain” to this very day.

#10 According to Wiccans, Halloween is the time when the veil between the living and the dead is considered to be the thinnest.  They believe that on this day their god “dies” and is reborn every year on the Winter Solstice.  This year the winter solstice falls on December 22nd.

#11 In ancient times, the resurrection of the sun god required human and animal sacrifice.  The following is what occult expert Bill Schnoebelen says that the Druids would do at this time of the year…

Druids worshiped the sun god, called by names like Bel (Ba’al?) or Chrom. On October 31, they believed that he died and went into the kingdom of the dead, Anwynn. The purpose of Samhain was to insure his return. Even witches admit this involved human sacrifice.

Both animal and human blood were believed to be needed to resurrect Bel on Samhain. Human blood was believed to open the gates of Anwynn and released the spirits for a night. Thus, October 31 came to be associated with ghosts. This is not just history. Samhain is still celebrated by Pagans and is the most solemn ceremony on their “religious calendar”.

#12 To this day, animal torture and sacrifice is still practiced on Halloween by occultists.  Many animal shelters will not adopt out black cats during the month of October for this very reason.

#13 In the early seventh century, a Catholic Pope known as Gregory the First decided that the best approach to ensure the continued spread of Catholicism was to “christianize” existing pagan holidays and practices…

As a result of their efforts to wipe out “pagan” holidays, such as Samhain, the Christians succeeded in effecting major transformations in it. In 601 A.D. Pope Gregory the First issued a now famous edict to his missionaries concerning the native beliefs and customs of the peoples he hoped to convert. Rather than try to obliterate native peoples’ customs and beliefs, the pope instructed his missionaries to use them: if a group of people worshipped a tree, rather than cut it down, he advised them to consecrate it to Christ and allow its continued worship.

#14 The tradition of “trick-or-treating” was one of the existing pagan traditions that was later “Christianized”…

The idea of trick-or-treating is further related to the ghosts of the dead in pagan, and even Catholic, history. For example, among the ancient Druids, “The ghosts that were thought to throng about the houses of the living were greeted with a banquet-laden table. At the end of the feast, masked and costumed villagers representing the souls of the dead paraded to the outskirts of town leading the ghosts away.”

As already noted, Halloween was thought to be a night when mischievous and evil spirits roamed freely. As in modern poltergeist lore, mischievous spirits could play tricks on the living—so it was advantageous to “hide” from them by wearing costumes. Masks and costumes were worn to either scare away the ghosts or to keep from being recognized by them

#15 The tradition of carving out a “Jack-O-Lantern” also comes from paganism.  The following comes from wicca.com…

Turnips were hollowed out and carved to look like protective spirits, for this was a night of magic and chaos. The Wee Folke became very active, pulling pranks on unsuspecting humans. Traveling after dark was not advised.

And as Bill Schnoebelen has noted, pumpkins eventually replaced turnips, but the meaning remained the same…

Here it’s a pumpkin, but in Europe it was often a turnip, or a skull with a candle in it. This serves two symbols, 1) the lord of the Dead, a “god” just like a Buddha – in short, an idol. 2) The fearsome face represented the god, Samhain, who would drive off less powerful demons that night. The lights in the Jack-o-Lantern symbolize the “faery fires” or “Will’o the Wisps” which were believed to be the lost souls flitting through the night. They also hearken back to the huge Samhain “balefires” which were lit to help conjure back the god from the darkness.

#16 On all Satanic holy days, there are children that get ritually abused.  This has been documented repeatedly, and yet most people (including most Christians) don’t want to hear about it.

#17 For Satanists, Halloween is one of the most important celebrations of the year.  On page 96 of the Satanic Bible, Anton LaVey wrote the following…

“After one’s own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht (May 1st) and Halloween.”

#18 The Scriptures are very clear about this sort of thing.  Deuteronomy 18:9-13 says the following: “When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults with the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord”.

    According to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, total spending for Halloween is expected to reach $8.4 billion, an all-time high in the survey’s 11-year history.

    U.S. consumers are expected to spend an average of $82.93, up from last year’s $74.34, with more than 171 million Americans planning to partake in Halloween festivities this year.

To give you some context, total Halloween spending for 2009 came in at just 4.7 billion dollars. So to say that the celebration of Halloween is growing would be a tremendous understatement.

Sadly, most people have no idea where this holiday originally came from. The truth is that a long time ago Catholicism attempted to “Christianize” an ancient pagan holiday known as Samhain…

    The origins of Halloween are Celtic in tradition and have to do with observing the end of summer sacrifices to gods in Druidic tradition. In what is now Britain and France, it was the beginning of the Celtic year, and they believed Samhain, the lord of death, sent evil spirits abroad to attack humans, who could escape only by assuming disguises and looking like evil spirits themselves. The waning of the sun and the approach of dark winter made the evil spirits rejoice and play nasty tricks. Believe it or not, most of our Halloween practices can be traced back to these old pagan rites and superstitions.

On the Wiccan calendar, Samhain is one of the most important points on “the wheel of the year”. Wiccans believe that it is the day when “the god dies”, and subsequently they celebrate his rebirth at Yule.

Today a lot of practitioners still carry out that tradition. Single candles were lit and left in a window to help guide the spirits of ancestors and loved ones home. Extra chairs were set to the table and around the hearth for the unseen guest. Apples were buried along roadsides and paths for spirits who were lost or had no descendants to provide for them. Turnips were hollowed out and carved to look like protective spirits, for this was a night of magic and chaos. The Wee Folke became very active, pulling pranks on unsuspecting humans. Traveling after dark was was not advised. People dressed in white (like ghosts), wore disguises made of straw, or dressed as the opposite gender in order to fool the Nature spirits.

The ancient practices described in those paragraphs sound very similar to what we do today in many ways, but without a doubt some of the traditions have evolved. For example, instead of carving turnips, those that celebrate Halloween carve pumpkins today.

You may not realize this, but Wicca is actually one of the fastest growing religions in America. And on October 31st, Wiccans all over the nation will get together to conduct rituals and cast spells. Here is a blurb from Wikipedia about the Wiccan belief in “magic”…

    During ritual practices, which are often staged in a sacred circle, Wiccans cast spells or “workings” intended to bring about real changes in the physical world. Common Wiccan spells include those used for healing, for protection, fertility, or to banish negative influences. Many early Wiccans, such as Alex Sanders, Sybil Leek and Alex Winfield, referred to their own magic as “white magic“, which contrasted with “black magic“, which they associated with evil and Satanism. Sanders also used the similar terminology of “left hand path” to describe malevolent magic, and “right hand path” to describe magic performed with good intentions;[64] terminology that had originated with the occultist Helena Blavatsky in the 19th century. Some modern Wiccans however have stopped using the white-black magic and left-right hand path dichotomies, arguing for instance that the colour black should not necessarily have any associations with evil.

If you are not familiar with these things, you may scoff at such practices. But the cold, hard reality of the matter is that they are very real. The dark side has power too, and those that have come out of witchcraft can tell you some stories that will stand your hair on end.

Wiccans think of themselves as “good”, and so they tend to reject blood sacrifices and things of that nature.

But for those that are deeper into the occult, blood sacrifice is an essential part of Halloween. As I mentioned above, many animal shelters all over the nation ban the adoption of black cats this time of the year…

    It’s the week of Halloween, and maybe you don’t know this, but if you suddenly wanted to adopt a black cat, you would probably have a hard time. That’s because thanks to their association with witchcraft, accepted wisdom holds that Halloween is a time when people ritualistically mutilate black cats.

    To test if this really was still accepted wisdom, I contacted some animal shelters near to our Los Angeles office, and they all told me they wouldn’t let me adopt a black cat. One, The Lange Foundation—the type of animal rescue that takes in cats from city shelters before they can be euthanized—was willing to talk to me on the phone and explain: If someone were to call and ask specifically for a black cat, that would trigger the policy. “I would say ‘not today!'” said one of the foundation’s board members, Diana Nelson.

You may not want to believe it, but animals will be killed and little children will be abused on Halloween night. The following is what one ex-witch has shared regarding her experiences…

    My parents told me before we went around the neighborhood we were going to go by the church (Mormon Church) to get some candy there. The church was very close to my grandmother’s house, and I knew so from going often.

    We went to the church and what happened next made my blood curdle. I was given candy, but that was just a preclude to the sexual abuse that would happen in a satanic ritual. On Halloween Satanists use young children, such as myself, as sexual idols to worship. Other children receive a far worse fate. Death. I know for some this is more than you can even think to believe, but it is true. I can barely write these words because the pain of the truth is almost more than I can bear. If it wasn’t for the grace and love of Jesus Christ, I would not even be here writing this at all.

You may say “it doesn’t mean that to me”, but you are just fooling yourself.

Could you take a Satanic Black Mass and turn it into a celebration of Jesus?

Of course not.

And yet so many Christians fully embrace Halloween and pretend that there is nothing wrong with it.

For the record, Satanists absolutely love Halloween. The following comes from the official Church of Satan website…

    Satanists embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, we smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” We encourage their tenebrous fantasies, the candied indulgence, and the wide-ranging evocation of our aesthetics (while tolerating some of the chintzy versions), even if it is but once a year. For the rest of the time, when those not of our meta-tribe shake their heads in wonder at us, we can point out that they may find some understanding by examining their own All Hallows Eve doings, but we generally find it simpler to just say: “Think of the Addams Family and you’ll begin to see what we’re about.”

Satanists consider Halloween to be one of the most important “holidays” of the year. On page 96 of the Satanic Bible, Anton LaVey wrote the following…

    “After one’s own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht (May 1st) and Halloween.”

Isn’t that lovely?

Despite all of this, most Christians in America will happily celebrate Halloween on October 31st. In fact, one recent survey found that just 8 percent of all Christian pastors want their congregations to skip the holiday altogether. Instead, most of them want their members to invite people to a “Christian version of Halloween” at their churches. The following comes from Charisma…

    Two-thirds (67 percent) encourage church members to invite friends and neighbors to a fall festival, trunk-or-treat or judgment house. Pastors at bigger churches (those with 250 or more in attendance) are most likely to ask church members to invite their neighbors (86 percent) to an event at the church. Those from small churches (50 or less in attendance) are least likely (48 percent).

If the gospel is preached, I am all for people going to church on October 31st. But all too often these “alternative celebrations” are nothing more than repackaged versions of the same Satanic holiday that the world is celebrating. I like how Pastor Jamie Morgan described what our approach to this day should be…

    Setting aside a day to celebrate evil, darkness, witchcraft, fear, death and the demonic brings disdain to God. Period. A Christian celebrating Halloween would be like a Satan worshiper putting up a nativity scene at Christmas while singing, “Happy Birthday, Jesus!” The two just don’t go together. Jesus has nothing in common with Satan (2 Cor. 6:14), and neither should we.

And the truth is that God has wanted us to have nothing to do with occult practices from the very beginning. The following is what Deuteronomy 18:9-13 says in the Modern English version…

    9 When you enter into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you must not learn to practice the abominations of those nations. 10 There must not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or who uses divination, or uses witchcraft, or an interpreter of omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who casts spells, or a spiritualist, or an occultist, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God will drive them out from before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

There will be many people that will read this article and will continue to celebrate Halloween just as they normally do. If that is you, then you need to understand that engaging in dark practices can open up doors to spiritual darkness for yourself and your entire family.

If you do that, then that is your choice, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
