Title: CCM music disguised as Traditional hymns?
Post by: Psalm 51:17 on June 28, 2012, 12:51:26 pm
Got this PDF in my email(written by David Cloud) - while I have doctrinal issues with Cloud, DA Waite, and others in the Dean Burgon Society/IFB movement(ie-they look back to the Greek lexicons to make interpretations in the KJV), Cloud wrote a very good 6 page article on music wars in Baptist churches. Here's a snippet of some CCM music you will find in Traditional hymn books in any typical SBC or even IFB church.

Yeah, I recognize a few of them, and they are DECEIVING...

“Hallelujah to the Lamb” by Don Moen (who thinks God is the author of the weird charismatic “laughing
revival”)

“In Christ Alone” by Getty/Townend

“Word of God Speak” by MercyMe (a charismatic mystical song)

“Stronger” and “Shout to the Lord” by Zschech/Hillsong (performed by Lancaster’s high school mixed
ensemble; Hillsong performed for Catholic Youth Day and Pope Benedict)

“Majesty, Worship His Majesty” by Jack Hayford (a Pentecostal Kingdom Now anthem; Hayford says God told
him not to preach against the Roman Catholic church)

“Great Is the Lord” and “How Majestic Is Your Name” by Michael W. Smith (who has been “slain in the Spirit”
and “laughed uncontrollably, “rolling on the floor ... hyperventilating”)

“Faithful Men” by Twila Paris (who works with the Roman Catholic Kathy Troccoli and with ecumenist Robert
Webber, who promotes unity between evangelicals and Catholics)

“In Christ Alone” by Michael English (who spent the 1990s and early 2000s committing adultery with another
man’s wife, bar hopping, dating a stripper, and undergoing “rehab” for drug addiction)
Songs by Steven Curtis Chapman (the most honored “high energy Christian rocker” of the 1990s who says he
doesn’t preach “fire and brimstone” and describes God as “Lord of the Dance”)
Songs by Geron Davis (“Jesus Only” Pentecostal who denies the Trinity)

“I Will Rise” by Chris Tomlin (a member of an emerging church that seeks to build the kingdom in this present
world)
Songs by Graham Kendrick (charismatic founder of the radically ecumenical Jesus March that includes
Catholics and Mormons)

“Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by Chris Tomlin was performed at Lancaster Sunday morning, Oct.
9, 2011

“Not Guilty” by the jazz CCM artist Mandisa was performed at the 2011 Leadership Conference
“Above All Things” by Rebecca St. James (covered on West Coast Baptist College’s “For the Faith of the
Gospel” CD)

“Glorify You Alone” by Gateway Worship (March 2012)

“Step by Step” by Rich Mullins (Youth Conference 2012, Mullins was in the process of converting to Rome
when he died)

why is that name sound familliar?

Scott mentions him during his audio teachings every now and then(along with Mike Slattery, Sam Adams, John Weaver, just to name a few), as he, I think is good friends with them. I have Waite's Defined KJB b/c Scott(and a woman here) recommended it to me a couple of years ago when I was searching for one.(Local Church Bible Publishers was the other recommended to me, but I opted for Waite's)

The only gripe I have against Waite, Cloud, and the IFB/DBS people is them going overboard wanting to use the Greek lexicons to interpret passages of scripture in the KJV. Other than that, I'm on Waite's email list, and from time to time I get some good articles and current events.

FYI, I heard a couple of months ago that the Mormons use the same "traditional hymn" books that the Protestant/Baptist "churches" use.

Yes, they are "traditional hymn" books, per se(and not this CCM/Christian Rock nonsense), but nonetheless if these "Christian churches" are using the SAME THING as the Mormons...a RED FLAG should really be raised for everyone to see!

Even these new bible versions are very similar to alot of these pseudo-christian cults, believe it or not.
