Abortionist Gets Away With Murder: No Punishment for Botched 33-Week Abortion

Abortion practitioner LeRoy Carhart is not facing charges from county officials for killing a woman in a botched 33-week abortion. Now, the state medical board has clear Carhart as well, even though he is responsible for killing Jennifer Morbelli.

The official death certificate for Jennifer Morbelli confirms the young woman died on February 7, 2013, from complications to a 33-week abortion done by late-term abortion practitioner LeRoy Carhart. But the Maryland county police closed their investigation Monday without filing criminal charges. The medical examiner’s office confirmed a botched 33-week abortion killed the young woman.

County officials closed their investigation and Carhart will face no charges in connection with Morbelli’s death.

Now, Maryland health officials quietly released a report late Friday exonerating Carhart and saying an investigation found “no deficiencies” in Morbelli’s care at Carhart’s abortion facility. The abortion clinic itself was found to have problems, but none of them reportedly life-threatening.

Troy Newman, the head of the pro-life group Operation Rescue, which first brought Morbelli’s death to light, told LifeNews he was disappointed the state health board is not holding Carhart accountable for killing Morbelli. He is also upset the board released the results late on a Friday of a holiday weekend — when they would get little scrutiny.

“The medical board and police department are the gatekeepers of the abortion industry,” he said. “These are the entities that protect and cover up the abuses of the abortion cartel and the likes of LeRoy Carhart. Vindicating LeRoy Carhart is the same as vindicating Ted Kennedy in the killing of Mary Joe at Chappaquiddikc.”

“The fact that the board drop this late on a Friday afternoon of memorial weekend shows the complete bank rottenness of this organization. They knew they were shilling for Carhart,” he added. “This decision also shows that abortion is such a sacrament of the left that it’s okay that women die to protect it. Carhart gets away with murder– again.”

Operation Rescue has obtained the official death certificate. The document confirms that Morbelli died at 12:25 p.m. on February 7 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Section 23a indicated that the cause of death was Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation “due to or as a consequence of Amniotic Fluid Embolism following Medical Termination of Pregnancy.”

While “Fetal Anomalies” is also listed in the same section, the certificate clearly states that this entry refers to the “Disease or injury that initiated events resulting in death.”

“There have been some erroneous reports that the fetal anomaly suffered by Mrs. Morbelli’s baby led to or contributed to her death, but her death certificate sets the records straight. It clearly was the diagnosis of her baby’s health problems that served as the catalyst to events that led Mrs. Morbelli to seek the abortion that killed her,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation. “If Mrs. Morbelli had not sought an abortion from LeRoy Carhart, she would be alive today.”

Newman says the death certificate confirms the information first uncovered by Operation Rescue and reported by LifeNews and it indicated Morbelli was pregnant and that she delivered a dead baby on February 6, the day before her death.

Morbelli was a 29-year old kindergarten teacher that lived with her husband in White Plains, New York. She was pregnant with their first child, who they had already named Madison Leigh. While in her 31st week of pregnancy, Morbelli received news that her baby suffered from an apparent seizure syndrome, which led her to seek an abortion two weeks later.

Operation Rescue made a formal request of the Montgomery County State Attorney for Carhart to be charged criminally for abandoning his patient, an act that led to a delay in her seeking emergency medical care. Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, the clotting condition that led to her hemorrhaging to death, is known to be treatable if caught in time.

This is the same condition suffered by another Carhart patient, Christin Gilbert, who died from complications to a late-term abortion she received from him in 2005.

“Jennifer Morbelli’s death certificate only reinforces our strong belief that the negligent actions of LeRoy Carhart caused her tragic death. We call on the authorities in Maryland to hold him accountable and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law before he kills again,” said Newman.

LeRoy Carhart, the Maryland abortion practitioner who recently killed a woman in a failed legal abortion is now under investigation by Maryland officials on the state health board.

A letter from seventeen members of the Maryland House Delegates raising concerns about abortion clinic safety led to state officials looking into Morbelli’s death has uncovered the death of yet another woman from a legal abortion in Maryland.

The chief medical examiner in Baltimore has confirmed Morbelli died when amniotic fluid seeped into her bloodstream, according to new entries on her death certificate. The entry lists “amniotic fluid embolism following termination of pregnancy” as one of two causes of death. The second is “disseminated intravascular coagulation,” a condition during which small blood cots form in blood vessels.

As LifeNews reported, papers uncovered in trash bins outside the abortion facility where a woman was killed in a botched late-term abortion are leading to questions about whether she was instructed to not go to a local emergency room after the failed abortion.

Following a new probe started by local officials, the Maryland Attorney General has opened an investigation into the late-term abortion practitioner who killed a Morbelli. The Maryland Attorney General’s office is not specifically looking into Morbelli’s deathbut it is looking at illegal dumping by the abortion clinic that could result in fines or other form of punishment.

Among the papers was a document instructing women not to go to the ER in the event of an emergency, but instead to “call and we will meet you at the clinic,” which is clearly dangerous medical advice. The number given in the instructions has now been connected to a business Carhart owns.

The Maryland Attorney General’s office notified the Maryland Coalition for Life and Operation Rescue that is has late-term abortion practitioner LeRoy Carhart and Germantown Reproductive Health Services under an active criminal investigation for illegal dumping, based on complaints made by both groups last year. This investigation is separate to ongoing investigations into Morbelli’s death, OR informed LifeNews, that are currently underway by the State Medical Examiner, the Montgomery Police Department, and the state’s Office of Health Care Quality.

In July, 2012, Operation Rescue filed a formal complaint with the Environmental Crimes Unit and released edited video and photographic evidence that showed GRHS and Carhart engaged in the illegal dumping on a routine basis. Evidence included:

1. Documents containing private patient information concerning birth control prescriptions and abortion procedures, as well as copies of patient driver’s licenses.
 2. Bloody refuse blood clots and possible human fetal remains.
 3. Drug control violations.

“For years we have documented Carhart’s abortion abuses. This time we pray authorities will quickly act before he has the opportunity to kill again,” said Sullenger.

Other incidents documented by Operation Rescue include the 2005 third-trimester abortion death of Christin Gilbert in Kansas, unsafe abortion practices reported by former Carhart employees in Nebraska, and the falsifying of information to gain licensure in Maryland.

Sullenger continued, “The tragic death of Mrs. Morbelli from a botched 33-week abortion may be the catalyst that will finally bring Carhart to justice. It’s too bad that a woman had to die before authorities would sit up and take notice.”

Two Doctors Lose Licenses After Killing Woman in Botched Abortion

The medical licenses of abortionist Iris E. Dominy and Mansour G. Panah summarily suspended on May 29, 2013, after Dominy was involved in the death of 38-year old Maria Santiago, who stopped breathing and suffered cardiac arrest while she was left unmonitored and unattended immediately after her abortion on February 13, 2013.

A post-deprivation hearing has been scheduled by the Board of Physicians for June 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.

Panah, an extremely troubled abortionist with a long history of sexual misconduct with patients, was acting as the Medical Director of the abortion clinic, Associates in OB/GYN Care located in a residential condo complex on Calvert St. in Baltimore, and was responsible for patient care at the time of Santiago’s death. Panah and Dominy also work at Associates in Ob/GYN abortion clinics in Cheverly, Frederick, and Silver Spring, all of which are affiliated with the notorious illegal late-term abortionist Steven Chase Brigham of New Jersey.

The Maryland Board of physicians concluded that both abortionists were so dangerous that “the public health, safety, or welfare imperatively requires emergency action.”

The Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ) had suspended the operating license of three Maryland Associates in OB/GYN Care clinics in March after Santiago’s death was discovered during inspections tht were conducted due to public pressure after the death of another abortion patient, Jennifer Morbelli, at Germantown Reproductive Health Services, a late-term abortion clinic operated by LeRoy Carhart. Inspectors also found that the defibrillator at the condo/clinic did not work and that the patient had been carelessly left unattended while under heavy sedation. No one noticed when Santiago stopped breathing, and no staff was adequately trained in CPR, including Dominy. As a result of the inadequate clinic conditions and the negligence of Dominy, Santiago died from Severe Pulmonary Edema, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and Hypoxia Brain Injury.

The OHCQ reinspected the clinics on May 7 and found continued deficiencies at all four locations that posed a danger to the public and ordered suspension of abortion services again on May 9.

Dominy is accused of “failing to perform surgical abortion services in a safe manner” and of “failing to develop appropriate post-anesthesia procedures and protocols.” She also used unlicensed, unqualified workers to evaluate patients, perform and interpret ultrasounds, and dispense Misoprostol, a drug that causes strong, unpredictable uterine contractions, all without her presence at the abortion clinic.

Panah was accused of allowing abortions to be started by unlicensed, unqualified workers at a facility that was not equipped to complete the abortion. Patient A was seen by an unqualified worker with no competency in ultrasounds. There were multiple gestational ages estimated from the incompetently performed ultrasounds in the patient’s file. The worker none-the-less administered misoprostol to the patient to begin her abortion without a physician present. Later, the abortionist turned the woman away even though her abortion had been started because she was carrying twins and her uterus was the size of a 22 week pregnancy. Because Panah was the Medical Director, it was determined that he posed a danger to the public.

Panah’s long history of discipline started in 1988 when he was accused of fondling and attempting to kiss his patients on the mouth. He was disciplined once again for unwanted sexual contact with patients in 1995. One woman received as many as three breast examinations in one visit for no medical reason. When asked why the need for repeated examinations, Panah simply expressed admiration for the woman’s breasts. In 2011, Panah was again disciplined for shoddy plastic surgery methods and sloppy record-keeping.

“The emergency license suspensions of Dominy and Panah raise other serious questions concerning patient safety in Maryland and elsewhere,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “Why is Steven Brigham allowed to continue operating his chain of shoddy abortion clinics that endanger women and have now claimed the life of Maria Santiago? Brigham and all his abortion quacks should be banned from coming within a mile of a medical facility.”

Another concern is why the death of Santiago led ultimately to license suspensions while LeRoy Carhart, who was responsible for the death of Jennifer Morbelli on February 7, 2013, is allowed to continue operations as usual. Morbelli died of complications to a 33-week abortion that developed after Carhart left the state and was unreachable for emergency assistance.

“If Dominy and Panah are considered a danger to the public, then there can be no doubt that Carhart poses an equal danger,” said Newman. “We renew our calls for an emergency suspension of Carhart’s medical license as well in the interest of public safety.”

So that's it, they lost their licenses? Unless they repent, they're gonna find out that these "licenses" are nothing but pieces of papers and cheap medals at the Great White Throne of Judgment!

Rev 20:12  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13  And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Maryland Board Declines to Punish Abortionist Following Investigation Into Death of Mother, Baby

A notorious late-term abortionist will not be punished for the death of a 29-year-old mother and her 33-week-old baby following an investigation by the Maryland Board of Physicians.

As previously reported, Jennifer McKenna Morbelli of New Rochelle, New York died this past February following complications from a botched abortion. Morbelli was pregnant with a baby girl that she named Madison Leigh.

According to sidewalk counselors outside of abortionist LeRoy Carhart’s Germantown Reproductive Health Center in Maryland, Morbelli had traveled to the abortion facility the previous weekend for a late-term abortion. The woman had been informed that her 8-month-old daughter suffered from fetal anomalies, and opted to end the child’s life. She traveled from New York to Maryland to have the procedure performed, with members of her family accompanying her.

“They began the abortion process on Sunday, February 3, in the afternoon, according to sidewalk counselors who maintain a constant presence at the clinic when it is open. They noted Jennifer appeared ‘very’ late-term,” pro-life blogger Jill Stanek reported following the incident. “According to those counselors, Sunday is when Carhart kills late-term babies by lethal injection into the heart through the mothers’ abdominal wall.”

“Jennifer and her family returned on Monday, presumably to begin the labor induction process by insertion of laminaria or prostaglandins to dilate the cervix, and again on Tuesday. They presumably spent each night at a nearby hotel, as is the usual process for a multi-day, late-term abortion at Carhart’s Germantown clinic,” she continued. “The family returned again on Wednesday, presumably for the delivery of Jennifer’s dead baby Madison, staying nine hours, an extraordinary length of time.”

However, Thursday morning, Morbelli began complaining of chest pains and other discomfort. Family members attempted to contact Carhart, but were unsuccessful in reaching him. They drove Morbelli to the hospital, where it was found that she was suffering from massive internal bleeding.

While at the hospital, attempts were again made to contact Carhart, but he could not be reached. Morbelli went code blue six times, and was pronounced dead at approximately 10:00 a.m. It was during this time that Carhart called, but never arrived at the hospital.

An autopsy later revealed that Morbelli died “due to or as a consequence of Amniotic Fluid Embolism following Medical Termination of Pregnancy,” or the existence of amniotic fluid in her bloodstream, which resulted in clotting.

The Maryland Board of Physicians agreed to investigate the matter after a complaint was filed by the prominent pro-life organization Operation Rescue. Carhart has confirmed to reporters that he received a letter this week from the Board, which advised that the case will be closed without penalty.

“The Board’s review included your response, patient medical records and other materials contained in the Board record,” the letter reads, according to a copy obtained by the Washington Post. “Based on this review, the Board has decided to close this matter without further action. Since the Board has closed this matter, it does not consider any action pending against you.”

While Carhart told reporters that he thinks about Morbelli’s death every day and that the situation has been “hard” for him, Operation Rescue said that it is disappointed that the Board chose not to act.

“We are horrified at the decision of the Maryland Board of Physicians to let Carhart get away scot-free with Morbelli’s death,” President Troy Newman commented following word of the decision. “The Board has failed in their duty to protect women from Carhart’s dangerous abortion practices that have take the lives of two women, including that of Christin Gilbert in 2005. All the Board has done is ensure that Carhart will kill again.”

Carhart had also been captured on video earlier this year in an undercover investigation, where he likened the lifeless and “mushy” bodies of aborted babies to “meat in a crock pot.”

“So, what makes the baby ‘mushy?’” the undercover investigator from Live Action asked. “The fact that it’s not alive for 2 to 3 days,” Carhart responded.

“Oh, so I’ll have a dead baby in me?” the woman inquired. “For three days, yeah,” Carhart said.

“Will it start to decay or something?” the woman asked. “No,” Carhart said. “It’s like putting meat in a crock pot. Okay? It doesn’t get broken. It gets softer. It doesn’t get infected.”

“Okay, so the dead baby in me is like meat in a crock pot,” the woman repeated. “Pretty much,” Carhart replied. “Kinda much.”
