It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

She could get a divorce in California, but her lawyer argues that Mississippi wouldn't recognize the divorce and their marital property would remain "in limbo."

I thought Mississippi didn’t recognize the “marriage” to begin with. This is spin with a LOT of money backing this agenda.

Quote
A similar case has just commenced in Kentucky, where two women married in Massachusetts are seeking a divorce.

At least one same-sex couple has been able to get a divorce in a state that doesn't officially recognize same-sex unions. In 2011, the Wyoming Supreme Court ruled that two women married in Canada could get a divorce in the state, reversing a ruling by a district judge.

"It's really problematic for people in getting on with their lives, being considered single again," said Kenneth Upton Jr., an attorney in the Dallas office of Lambda Legal, a national gay-rights group.

The whole “problem” is intentionally created, organized, and heavily funded.

I’ve always been aware of the difference between doing something because you want to and doing something because you feel that you have to.

The latter seems to come from the world via emotional extortion. It can also be seen as coming from a sense of “duty”. This is generally recognized as commendable in the world’s eyes.

With me, God has preferred honesty. Better to be either hot or cold. That’s how He sees it. It's a basis for everything getting real in my life.

But I wonder if the lukewarm condition is at least partially due to worldly influences such as this.

I just realized that these are programming instructions for what to do during x-mas. In fact, I decided to write about it because it's playing in my head at the moment. I must have heard it somewhere today. I’m pretty sure every retailer in the nation has this blasting through the speakers right about now. Looks like Edward Pola and George Wyle knew a thing or two about the real origins of x-mas.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"

It's the most wonderful time of the year
It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings and gay happy meetings
When friends come to call
It's the hap- happiest season of all

There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmellows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago

It's the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be much mistletoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When love ones are near
It's the most wonderful time of the year

There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmellows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago

It's the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be much mistletoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When love ones are near
It's the most wonderful time
It's the most wonderful time
It's the most wonderful time
It's the most wonderful time of the year

Ghost stories?

Tales of glories from long ago?

Sounds like some sort of old Viking ritual.

Don’t forget to get on that emotional high! Cheer up and follow these instructions or else you’ll rock the boat! You wouldn’t want to ROCK THE BOAT. WOULD YOU?!?!?!?

I grew up listening to Andy Williams sing this every single year.

Over
and over
and over again

But I never paid much attention to the lyrics until I was well into adulthood.

I’m starting to realize where dysfunction within a family comes from.

My question is: How do you tell fellow believers nicely why you don't celebrate xmas? Especially when they get defensive??

Here’s how we handled the Halloween encounter with the church.

My family completely jumped out of the Halloween vat a couple of years ago.

Back when we were all attending church, some woman (church member#1) handed our child some candy in celebration of the “harvest festival” after the service was over. Note that CM#1 didn’t ask us if this was OK first.

The wife gave the candy back with the explanation that we, as a family, simply choose not to participate in this “holiday”.

About a week later, we get a formal scathing letter from CM#2 accusing us of hurting CM#1’s feelings for not going along with the church program. This is how the church operates.

Since then, I’ve noticed more and more people catching on and refusing to acknowledge this pagan festival. There are still holdouts that place tradition above principles though.

BTW, the letter demanded an apology.

We ended up talking to CM#2 and openly wondered why CM#1 was upset. We simply explained that our family didn’t choose to celebrate that holiday. But if anybody else in the church wanted to, then that was his or her choice. That seemed to remove all the wind from the sails.

So far, x-mas has been a mind-your-own-business affair. We had a family once come into the house under the auspices of “caroling”. What they really wanted to do was snoop. Amazing how nobody wants to ask the object of gossip to confirm or deny something. Since then, nobody seems to want to know why we don’t acknowledge x-mas, ishtar, or halloween.

We still invite people over around that time period for meals and fellowship simply because it’s a dreary time of year. It’s liberating to not have to pin some ritual onto a particular date on the calendar.

Last year I witnessed people that seemed to be in a bizzare, fuzzy, trancelike state on or about the 25th of December. I was acutely aware of the "spirit of xmas" at work. Funny how a day or two after that, people seemed irritable. Happens every year.

There’s no biological component to it. It’s simply injecting things like lighter fluid, paint thinner, and gasoline under the skin. This kills the cells, causing necrosis and gangrene. Users don’t notice any pain due to the narcotic effects of this drug. Maximum life expectancy for someone on this drug is three years, although the majority of users are dead within a year.

Excruciating withdrawal symptoms are said to last a month or more. This creates a path, well known amongst users, that practically guarantees death as the only way out of this addictive substance.

This substance preys on people that are initially addicted to morphine or her0in, then run out of money.

SOMETHING TO BE AWARE OF.
It works like this:

Last Wednesday I had a phone call late morning from Express Couriers to ask if I was going to be home as he had a delivery for me. He said he would be there in roughly an hour. He turned up with a beautiful basket of flowers and wine. I expressed my surprise as I wasn’t expecting anything like this and said I was intrigued to know who was sending me such a lovely gift. He said he was only delivering the gift and that the card was being sent separately (the card has never arrived). There was a consignment note with the gift. He went on to explain that because the gift contained alcohol he has to charge the recipient $3.50 as proof that he has actually delivered to an adult, and not left it on a door step if the recipient is out, to be stolen or taken by children. This seemed logical and I offered to get the cash. He then said that the company required the payment to be by Eftpos so he’s not handling cash and everything is properly accounted for.

Frank was there and got his credit card and ‘John’ swiped the card on this small mobile machine that also had a small screen upon which Frank entered in his pin number on. A receipt was printed out and given to us.

Between last Thursday and Monday, $4,000 was withdrawn from our credit account at ATM machines in the north shore area. It appears a dummy credit card was made using the details in the machine and of course they had Frank’s pin number. The Bank has stopped our cards and I’ve been to the Police this morning, where they confirmed that it is a definite scam and many households were hit during the first 3 days of October.

So PLEASE be wary of accepting a gift you ‘ re not expecting especially if the card is not with it. We ‘ ve all received gifts like this and would never dream that it could be such a despicable act. Please also let other female friends and relatives know. Hopefully, these fraudsters have ceased this activity by now but you never know.

My, oh my. I knew that sounded familiar. IHOP came out of the Kansas City crew which has close ties to Toronto, Lakeland, Brownsville, etc. They all know each other.

The Dangers of the International House of Prayer (IHOP)

by John Park

The International House of Prayer (IHOP) was started on May 7, 1999 by Mike Bickle in Kansas City. [1]  It is well known for its 24/7 worship and prayer ministry.  Now it has grown substantially to include international ties, its very own seminary, and undergraduate program.  People from around the globe are flocking to IHOP, but do they actually know what they are getting into?

Cultic Origins and Goals

It is clear that almost all of the participants in IHOP do not have an understanding of what they are getting into.  Many of the participants, including many genuine Christians who are being deceived, believe it is a place to go pray and worship, while not knowing what the theological distinctives are that make IHOP unique.  The true origin started in 1982 after a man named Augustine approached Mike Bickle and said an audible voice told him to prophesy to his congregation.  Later that year, Mike Bickle claimed to hear an audible voice speaking to him while on a trip in Cairo, Egypt.  The voice told him, “I am inviting you to raise up a work that will touch the ends of the earth. I have invited many people to do this thing and many people have said yes, but very few have done my will.” [2]

This is parallel to how many other cults of Christianity are born.  They follow the basic formula:
(Blank 1) said God told him/her a message, and he/she and starts the (Blank 2) church.

For Example:
·   Joseph Smith said God told him a message, and he started the Mormon church.
·   Ellen G. White said God told her a message, and she started the Seventh Day Adventist church.
·   Mary Eddy Baker said God told her a message, and she started the Christian Scientist church.
·   Sun Myung Moon said God told him a message, and he started the Unification church.
·   Witness Lee/Watchman Nee said God told him a message, and he started the Local Church.
·   Mike Bickle said God told him a message, and he started the International House of Prayer.

Not only is IHOP origin akin to many other aberrant groups, but their ultimate goals follow suit.  Mike Bickle has been quoted to say the church brings on the great tribulation:

We're not absent for the great tribulation, now listen carefully, the church causes the great tribulation. What I mean by that – it's the church, it's the praying church under Jesus' leadership that's loosing the judgment in the great tribulation in the way that Moses stretched forth his rod and prayed and loosed the judgments upon Pharaoh. The church in the tribulation is in the position that Moses was before Pharaoh but it won't be a Pharaoh and Egypt, it'll be the great end time Pharaoh called the antichrist and the book of Revelation is a book about the judgments of God on the antichrist loosed by the praying church. [9]

Even worse, Bickle proposes that an elite end-time church defeats God's enemies, and Jesus is "held in the heavens" until it happens.

Right now the prayer movement is growing fast….really fast! But when I say it's growing fast instead of one percent of the Body of Christ taking hold of it, maybe 10 percent. It's….you know it's like 10 times bigger than it was a generation ago, but beloved as fast as the prayer movement is growing, where people are getting hold of it, still for 90 percent of the Body of Christ it's not even on their mind. Jesus is not coming until the Body of Christ globally is crying out "Come Lord Jesus, Come Lord Jesus, Come Lord Jesus" and they don't just say "come and forgive me" they are crying out in the understanding of who they are as the one that is cherished by Jesus in the bridal identity. [9]

The Power of Emotionalism, Mysticism, and Gnosticism

The major draw of IHOP is experience.  People often come to me citing their experience and go back again and again to experience "God" and the "Spirit" - no different than an emotional high.  This is analogous to mysticism, which is defined as “the pursuit of deeper or higher subjective religious experience,” and “that spiritual reality is perceived apart from the human intellect and natural senses.” [13] They practice what is known as centering or contemplative prayer.  This is defined as “the practice of relaxing, emptying the mind, and letting one's self find the presence of God within.” [10] In fact, they had an article titled “Contemplative Prayer” on their website, but after much negative press they have taken it down. [13]

However, the contents of the article have been preserved by a former IHOP staff member’s website and is available for all to see here: (http://gospelmasquerade.wordpress.com/2009/08/01/contemplative-prayer-continued/)

One of the highest criticisms would be IHOP’s insidious Gnosticism.  Gnosticism is derived from the greek word gnosis, meaning “knowledge.”  The hallmark of Gnosticism is the idea of having “hidden knowledge” of the spiritual realm that is unavailable to others.  This knowledge comes via prophecies, visions, and dreams that God specifically gives to a certain privileged group of people  - in this case IHOP.  In fact, IHOP has their own “prophecy rooms” where one can receive “prophecies,” and they used to have a practice of mailing out recorded tapes, of which I was asked by my friend’s mother to translate!

This is something the Apostle Paul discusses in Colossians 2:18. “Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind” (NASB) [11].

Great experiences with our Lord are a gift from God, but one needs to exercise caution concerning the authority he/she gives personal experiences.  More often than not, the people who go to IHOP do not have a strong theological foundation and so they rely on their experiences to dictate what the Bible says and not the other way around.  Here are some words (from Dr. John MacArthur's sermon "Are Experiences a Valid Source of Truth?) of wisdom regarding experiences:

There is the ploy they use, "Well, we would expect you to be against it since you haven't had the experience." That is Gnosticism. That is believing that you have been elevated to a higher level of comprehension which the uninitiated have no understanding. Rodman Williams, who has written a number of books and who was once the president of a local Charismatic school, and I quote said, "Any vital information concerning the Gifts of the Spirit, the Pneumatic Charismata, predisposes a participation in them. Without such a participation, whatever is said about the Gifts may only result in confusion and error." If you haven't had it, you have no right to talk about it. One pastor said to me, "You talk exactly like one who never had the experience. You are speaking out of ignorance." I wonder if they feel that way talking about Heaven, Hell, murder, adultery, homosexuality, and numerous other subjects. Do we have to have that experience too? [5]

The IHOP Dilemma

When someone comes to you and say that God gave him a clear audible and/or visual revelation (dream, vision, prophecy, etc.), you are now in what I will call the IHOP Dilemma.

Due to the seriousness of disobeying genuine prophecy and the heinousness of proclaiming a false one, you are in an IHOP Dilemma when you are now forced to choose:

1) If this person is actually speaking truth from God.  If so, we are bound to listen or face incurring the steep penalty of disobeying God's very own commands via His prophet.

or

2) Whether or not a person is proclaiming falsehood in God's name and thus incurring the steep penalty of false prophesying and being a false prophet.

Unfortunately, this puts the rest of Christianity in a hard situation, because we now have to make the determination whether IHOP is full of false prophets or true prophets and to treat them as such.  We cannot merely remain neutral.  How can we be neutral on God's revelation or on such an egregious sin as false prophecy within the church?  It is like someone saying the pastor cheated on his wife or that he murdered someone and saying, "Hmm... let me think about that and get back to you later."  No, you're now in a tough situation and you now have to make a hard decision!

Unfortunately, many of those in IHOP have no idea what they are doing when they are supposedly "prophesying."  As I said before, they do not have a strong Biblical foundation and do not pause to think of the gravity of what they are actually proclaiming. [8]

<snip>

Conclusion

A quick review of the main offenses include:
1.   Cultic origin, worship style, and goals
2.   Emotionalism
3.   Mysticism
4.   Gnosticism
5.   The IHOP dilemma
6.   False Prophecies
7.   Effective Denial of Sola Scriptura
8.   Opposition by multiple Godly Christian Groups

Though it may seem like a place that is on fire and passionate for God, this is simply not the case.  Many of the people that do go there are sincere Christians, but they have been overcome by the lies and experiences they have there.  In short, the people I have communicated with ignore the things above and simply hold on to what they have experienced and point the finger at me saying, “you don’t know about us.”  Unfortunately I do know, and I hope this article persuades or helps you convince someone else who is going down a destructive path.  It breaks my heart to see so many young people fall victim to this place, and all the people who waste their lives and God given talents to expand IHOP’s kingdom and not God’s Kingdom.

That scourge got worse with the development of the duplex, then quadraplex. I wonder if apartments were popular back then. It definitely expanded the slumlord profession…all driven by greed. America went from recognizing the need for “elbow room” in the 1800’s to putting up with this. I suspect that office cubical farms arose for the same reason.
104  General Category / North America / Re: Are entitlements corrupting America? on: November 01, 2013, 10:09:49 am
I'd say it really got it's start when the military started coming home from WW2. That's when the US housing boom started and many land developers took off with their push to sell shiny, new homes to the military because they were getting money from the government when they returned home.

I’ve heard about that from an old-timer. It’s not exactly in the history books. He also said that that program profoundly changed the social structure of America. By building lots of smaller houses in teeny subdivisions, the nuclear family was born. Prior to that, the standard was multiple generations under the same roof on a much larger chunk of land, like the Waltons. People in other countries still maintain a “family house” as a fallback for economic hardship. American culture seems to have abandoned this idea.
105  General Category / N/S America / Re: Can government tell Christian ministries what to say? on: October 28, 2013, 06:27:55 pm
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I think that nailed it right there. Throughout history, kings have maintained a close relationship with religious leadership. Same with chiefs and witch doctors. Same with Roman governors and Sadducees. If the king stays on friendly terms with them, offering “gifts”, then when push comes to shove, he has some political leverage over the situation. If he blows the relationship off, then he knows that religious leadership can turn the people against him.

Can government tell Christian ministries what to say? Depends on how yoked up they are. There's obviously been a whole lotta yoking going on over the years.
106  General Category / N/S America / Re: Can government tell Christian ministries what to say? on: October 28, 2013, 03:44:28 pm
What I think a lot of people don’t get is that when the government talks about “faith-based initiatives”, it’s talking about grant money. Since when does government money not have some sort of strings attached? Another popular term these days is “public-private partnership”, the very definition of fascism.

In a way, the government has intentionally violated its self-declared “separation of church and state”. Then again, that phrase is only invoked when politically convenient.

Maybe I’m stating the obvious, but I’m still running into people in my town that haven’t thought much about this, especially in the churches.
107  General Category / Revelation Prophecy / Re: False Teachers teaching you can take the Mark and still get saved on: October 26, 2013, 02:55:15 pm
If the mark of the beast somehow permanently altered a human at the molecular level, (say, via nanotechnology) then I can see the real possibility of not coming to repentance ever.

A lot of people react in fear whenever I bring this up. But I do see the intent and desire to develop this through scientific articles and the transhumanism movement right now.

They are selling the idea to the public as being able to cure currently incurable medical conditions.

World leaders would easily support the idea of controlling the human central nervous system directly. This would give them control over individual thoughts and attitudes and would be sold as a solution to war and crime. Michael Aquino’s work already takes this approach.

I thought that I had seen a verse somewhere that explicitly stated that those who take the mark will belong to the devil/beast. I can’t seem to find that verse anywhere now. Maybe I didn’t see it in scripture. IDK.

I guess I was just thinking out loud about that. I know that we train foreign military as part of diplomatic relations. There’s one school there that did catch my eye. It’s unclear if foreigners are trained there or not. And I’m not sure exactly what this school does.

Foreign soldiers tried to abduct, sexually assault 12-year-old girl in Missouri

On Friday, Pulaski County sheriff's deputies arrested Mohammed Mahmoud Omar Mefleh, 34, and Antoine Clela, 31, after they reportedly tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into their vehicle.

The suspects' country of origin is not known at this time.

MISSOURI - Two Muslim soldiers arrested for trying to kidnap a 12-year-old girl to use as their sex
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTWH7fFSeEo

According to the video and other articles, these two are being held on a $200,000 bond. They are waiting for the “country of origin”, which they are intentionally not revealing, to pay up. Note the sheriff stressing no diplomatic immunity as if that came up immediately. I expect these men to be quickly and quietly deported after a wire transfer.

They already consider this country a third-world playground for their personal pleasure. And they consider themselves above any moral accountability simply because of where they were born.

Just a follow up to the Diane Reidy story, The audio of her speaking actually occurred after she was escorted from the room. Yet, somehow, that audio was dubbed in to some YouTube videos of her in the House chamber as if that is what she was saying prior to being dragged off.

Dianne Reidy’s Congressional Outburst: A Careful Examination

On Thursday night, the House voted to re-open the Federal Government and raise the debt ceiling.  In a move that was meant to set the public mind at ease about the ability of the government to come together for the benefit of the people, a certain woman’s words seem to be dominating the majority of the headlines.  Dianne Reidy’s congressional outburst has captivated the nation.

A White House stenographer now identified as Dianne Reidy took to the dais at the House floor to deliver a rant that she describes as coming from the Holy Spirit.  After being removed from the House floor, she continued her rant into the hallway until she was ultimately forcibly escorted into an elevator.

While headlines range from naming Dianne as a prophetess to calling her a woman suffering from a psychotic break, I tend to find that the truth is being lost in the shuffle, so I want to examine what we actually KNOW about what happened, to see if we can inject some reason into the discourse.

The majority of reports about Dianne’s proclamations claim that they were recorded on the House floor. This is incorrect. In most all of the audio clips I’ve heard thus far, we are hearing what Dianne said IN THE HALLWAY outside of Congressional chambers, after she was removed from the dais.  Here is a video proving that to be the case:

VIDEO: Stenographer escorted off House floor after open-mic rant

Now, below you will see video of what we know about what was actually said ON the House floor.. which is precisely nothing, because although she methodically approached a microphone at the dais, there was no discernible audio captured.

So to recap, we actually have NO IDEA what Dianne said on the House floor, and the ONLY audio captured was taken from her continuing yelling in the hallway outside of chambers. The majority of mainstream reporting about the audio and timing of the rant and placement of the rant is just plain incorrect as I have just proven.

There’s also some interest in the behavior of one of the congressmen that was talking to her seconds before she got up and walked directly to the podium.

Sure shines a light on who is of the world at this point. To them, she is scary and needs to be sent off for a mental health evaluation after being interviewed by the police.

This reminds me of those congressmen that walked out during a prayer that confessed the sins of the government and asked for forgiveness. Some people just don’t know, nor do they want to know, the true living God and, therefore, treat those that do know Him as "foolish".  Some people love the works of darkness and fear exposure from the light of truth. The lines are becoming clearer as time goes on. There’s the world/devil and there’s the kingdom of heaven. Home is where the heart is.

I believe God can enable and use any willing vessel at any time for His purposes.

This is regardless of the circumstance and regardless of whether or not that vessel filled out a W-4 form.

From FNC CHAD PERGRAM:

Urgent: House Stenographer says Holy Spirit woke her up at night to deliver message to the House

Per Kaplan/Pergram-Capitol Hill

Karrah Kaplan spoke with the husband of House stenographer Dianne Reidy last night. There’s an emailed statement here from Dan Reidy.
First, from Dianne:

“For the past 2 and 1/2 weeks, the Holy Spirit has been waking me up in the
middle of the night and preparing me (through my reluctance and doubt) to deliver
a message in the House Chamber.
That is what I did last night”

Her husand Dan says “My wife is a sweet, level-headed wonderful woman of God. I am proud of her.”

U.S. House stenographer Dianne Reidy was forced off the floor on Wednesday night following the House's passage of a debt limit resolution package, which would end the government shut down. Reidy, who has worked as a recorder for the House for over 20 years made her way to the Speaker's chair and began ranting, saying that America was not one nation under God.

Here’s what happens to people that speak out for Christ from the belly of a secular government.

Reidy was questioned by U.S. Capitol Police after her removal from the floor and was later taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. It was not immediately clear whether criminal charges would be filed.

God used a lowly stenographer last night to deliver a message to the most powerful levels of a secular government as well as to the American public. And now she pays the price for that.

What job doesn’t involve somehow, directly or indirectly, working for the temporary god of this world? We are not of the world, but we are most assuredly in the world.

House Stenographer Dragged Off Floor Yelling About Freemasons And God

As the House finished their vote to reopen the federal government and raise the debt ceiling, the House stenographer decided it was a good time to let everyone know her feelings about God, Congress, and the Freemasons.

“He [God] will not be mocked,” the stenographer, apparently named Molly, yelled into the microphone as she was dragged off by security. “The greatest deception here is that this is not one nation under God. It never was. It would not have been. The Constitution would not have been written by Freemasons. They go against God. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God. Praise be to Jesus.”

Isa 55:7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9   For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

If the soul consists of mind, will, and emotion, then this clearly indicates that the soul is corrupt without the Holy Spirit’s intervention.

Lk 23:46  And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Same thing happened with Stephen.

Acts 7:59  And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60   And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

This says that when we physically die, our soul dies as well. Just as the soul is deeply intertwined with the body, and rules over the flesh, the spirit is the same.

Everything that affects our perception, all the programming and propaganda, enters through the body into the soul. Yet, when the Holy Spirit comes alongside our spirit, there is a quickening. And the soul, the corrupt thoughts, emotions, and will are changed toward the way He would have us be.

Unclean spirits can and do occupy unsaved men, causing them to behave in a way that they think is normal. Some people can sense this spiritual influence over another. (the spirit of goodwill, christmas, anger, lust, greed, FEAR)

2 Tim 1: 7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

This verse says to me that fear is a spirit and not an emotion as secular society believes. It also tells me that it didn’t come from God.

This is how I understand it. Thank you Mark for confirming this biblically. When I hear that soul and spirit are the same thing, it creates doubt and confusion within me. I know that I can’t fix myself through my own efforts alone.
118  General Category / Churchianity / Re: Sunday Schools - they are not what you think... on: September 26, 2013, 12:59:26 pm
I used to attend “Sunday school”. At first, a general topic would be presented where attendees were able to share and comment. This allowed the Spirit to move in people’s hearts.

Then, one day, the church BOARD decided that we needed curriculum. Pre-scripted “study guides” appeared. Then, an “approved” guy with papers and credentials was picked to lead the group. I held out for a while, hoping to be able to offer someone in the room some words that might encourage or comfort them with whatever they were dealing with. Or, conversely, I had hoped to gain some insight that I hadn’t yet thought of, weighing against scripture, of course. But, as time went on, there was more insistence on sticking rigidly to the script, to the point of just sitting there, reading out of the “study guide”, and answering the questions in the study guide with the approved responses. That’s when it became indoctrination.

I finally gave up and walked away. There was no longer life in those meetings.

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if alot io(not all, but some to most) political leaders, "religious" leaders, entertainment types, and even professional athletes/coaches are these fallen angelic demonic spirits disguised as humans(ie-I'm a baseball fan, but nonetheless I find it hard to believe pitchers can throw over 95 miles per hour. And alot of these entertainment types' backgrounds before they became famous just almost never adds up). But, I do feel this is God's judgment in the latter days for the nations that reject Jesus Christ.

Psalms 78:49  He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels [among them].

Rev 9:20-21  And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

I suppose, for some, temporary superhuman ability to throw 95 mph pitches is more important than the love of truth and eternal salvation. I see more reports these days of musicians that admit that they sold their soul to the devil. They signed a “contract”. People still have the choice to actively invite a walk-in. But it’s just a matter of time before they realize that this is the same as trading their birthright for a bowl of porridge.

Yep - Secular Humanism has really been pushed, in a very subtle way, in our secular institutions.

How many times have we heard in school, "Be The Best That You Can Be!!!!"?

Another one that was repeated was "Believe in yourself."

No mention of God there.
