Oscar-Nominated Director Producing Documentary on Hollywood Child Sex Ring
Working with accuser of X-Men director Bryan Singer Oscar-nominated director Amy Berg (Deliver Us from Evil, West Memphis) is working with the accuser of X-Men director Bryan Singer to produce a documentary that intends to expose the dark realities of rampant child sexual abuse in Hollywood.
The MailOnline reports Berg’s Los Angeles-based company, Disarming Films, has been working on the “Hollywood sex ring” documentary for the last two years. A source close to Singer’s accuser, Michael Egan III, told MailOnline that Berg’s company had recently contacted Egan about providing information, videos, and pictures for the film.
The source said that the documentary involved “numerous children, now adults, now coming forward about this.”
Egan claims that when he was 15 years old, Singer, then in his mid-thirties, sexually abused him and used coercive tactics to force his silence.
In a press conference Monday, Egan’s attorney, Jeff Herman, announced the names of three high-powered industry players who he claims also took part in the abuse, helped by “ring-leader” Marc Collins-Rector, a registered sex offender and former head of Digital Entertainment Network.
Singer's attorney, Marty Singer (no relation), maintains his client's innocence, pointing to holes in Egan's accusations -- particularly the director's alleged involvement in an event in 1999, which the attorney claims to have hard evidence to disprove -- and the fact that the director was not named in Egan's 2000 lawsuit.
Despite Singer's insistence on his innocence, he has canceled a number of public appearances, and studios including Fox who are working with the director have distanced themselves from him in advertising campaigns.
Berg was nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for Deliver Us from Evil, a documentary on child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, focusing particularly on the case of Father Oliver O’Grady, who abused numerous children in the 1970s (trailer below). Berg’s most recent film, West of Memphis (2012), was produced by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit), and won numerous awards at festivals.
Berg told the MailOnline that she was not yet ready to comment on the Hollywood sexual abuse project, but did confirm that she had been working on it for two years.
