Why Is The Media Silent About The Crucifixion Of Christians By Radical Jihadists?

Could you imagine the uproar in the mainstream media that we would see if a member of a politically favored class of people was crucified for who or what they are?  There would be front page headlines for weeks.  But because members of a politically favored class (Muslims) are doing it to members of a non-politically favored class (Christians), it is not newsworthy at all according to the media.  In many instances, Christians are being crucified by jihadists that are actually being assisted and funded by the governments of the United States and Saudi Arabia.  Yes, our tax dollars are being used to help arm and supply radical jihadists that are beheading and crucifying Christians.  And yet none of the big media organizations considers this to be news.

How sick and twisted do you have to be to crucify a little child for being a Christian?  Of course you never heard about this from the mainstream media, but that is exactly what happened in Syria recently…

Sister Raghida, former head of a Christian school in Damascus explained the horrific event. “Islam or death” was the choice given to many Christians in Syria on Tuesday during the height of the conflict in Syria. She said many Syrian Christians have been affected by the atrocities taking place in the Christian population of the Middle Eastern country, an area once known for the harmonious coexistence of Muslims and Christians.

According to Sister Raghida, the Muslims came to the two youths and said, “So you want to die as a teacher in whom you trust? Please choose: either to renounce (faith) or you will be crucified!”

The boys both refused to renounce faith in Jesus Christ and were martyred because of it. One of them was crucified in front of his father, who was then killed. The nun went on to tell the radio station that the Jihadists entered the city of Maaloula and started killing men, women, and children. According to her report, they killed and played football with the heads of those murdered. Sister Raghida also said the killers took pregnant women and pulled out the babies from their wombs and hung them from a tree by their umbilical cords.

This kind of brutality is absolutely unprecedented!

Who has ever heard of such a thing being done to pregnant women and children?

You would think that crimes of this magnitude would be front page news all over the globe.

But instead, there is mostly just silence.

About the only mainstream news outlet in the U.S. that will even touch this stuff is Fox News.  And even they don’t give it front page treatment.  Usually you have to really dig to find a brief story about the slaughter of Christians that we are seeing all over the planet.

The following is an excerpt from a Fox News story about another incident of crucifixion that just happened recently…

Al Qaeda-backed jihadists are hanging the bodies of executed enemies on crosses crucifixion-style in a town in Northern Syria, according to a Syrian opposition group.

The executions reportedly took place Tuesday in Raqqa, where the extremist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS, an Al Qaeda-linked network, has taken over the city, according to Abu Ibrahim Alrquaoui, who identifies himself as a founder of a group called Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently.

As I mentioned above, the jihadists that are doing this have the support of Saudi Arabia and the United States.  The Obama administration and the Saudia are desperate to overthrow the Syrian government, and Obama seems to have no problem allying us with some of the most despicable jihadists on the entire planet in order to make that happen.

The brutality against Christians by U.S.-backed fighters has been going on for month after month with very little notice by the outside world.  Just check out what has been going on in one little village in the middle of the war zone…

For a major part of the past year, it was occupied by Islamist Syrian rebels associated with al-Qaida who took advantage of its commanding position over Maaloula to help keep their grip on this Christian village. During the occupation of the village by the Saudi- and U.S.-supported rebels, strict Shariah law was enforced. Those Christians not able to flee were treated as slaves. Several Christian men were beheaded, and many of the women were forced into “temporary” marriages with multiple Islamic fighters.

And of course Syria is far from the only place where we see this kind of brutality on a consistent basis.  For example, Christians are regularly slaughtered by radical jihadists in Nigeria.  The following is just one recent example…

While many of us were enjoying our Friday evenings, a massacre was taking place in Nigeria that left between 100 and 150 Christians dead and around 200 homes burned to the ground.

At around 10pm Nigeria time last night while villagers were asleep, more than 40 Fulani herdsmen attacked the Ungwan Gata, Me-Sankwai and Tekum villages in Manchok (Kaura Local Government), which is located in Southern Kaduna, Nigeria. Southern Kaduna is a predominantly Christian.

These jihadi attackers first set fire to homes and when the Christians attempted to escape their homes, they were shot dead or butchered with machetes. The ones who could not escape their homes burned to death.

No one attacked was spared, including women and children. A pastor, his wife, and their children, of one of the villages, were said to be among the butchered.

Have you heard about that incident before now?

Probably not.

You see, the truth is that the elite control the “matrix” known as the mainstream media, and they don’t consider such stories to be important.

You probably haven’t heard about the young Christian woman that was dragged out of her car and beaten to death by a Muslim mob in Egypt either.  Fortunately, there are some non-mainstream outlets that are covering this…

Eyewitnesses have given a harrowing account of the murder in Cairo of a young Coptic Christian woman, hauled out of her car and beaten and stabbed to death by a Muslim mob, apparently targeted because of a cross hanging from her rear-view mirror.

And to say that she was “beaten to death” doesn’t really capture the full horror of what happened to her…

Protestors climbed onto her car, collapsing the roof, then hauled her from the vehicle, beating and mauling her – to the extent, he said, that portions of her scalp were torn off. She was stabbed multiple times, her throat was slit and when she was dead, the mob torched her car.

This is evil to the highest degree.

But even in the midst of the slowest news year in ages, the mainstream media still won’t touch this stuff.

There is an extreme hesitance in the western world to report anything that will put Muslims in a bad light or put Christians in a good light.

Meanwhile, as Christians are being slaughtered by Muslims all over the globe, the western world is doing all that it can to shut down criticism of Islam.

For instance, the leader of a political party in the UK could be facing up to two years in prison for the “hate crime” of quoting Winston Churchill…

Political party leader Paul Weston was arrested by police and faces up to two years in jail for criticizing the religion of Islam during a public speech in the United Kingdom.

Weston’s “racially aggravated” hate crime consisted of him quoting Winston Churchill.

Weston’s arrest reveals the chilling implementation of thought crime in Britain and how political correctness is being used as a weapon with which to destroy the edifice of freedom of speech across the western world.

The following is what appears to be the quote that got Weston in trouble…

“The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities – but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.”

And in the U.S., great efforts are being made to make Muslims as comfortable as possible in our schools.  Even as Christian prayers are being banned, entire prayer rooms are being set aside for Muslim students in schools all over the country.  In addition, many school systems are now giving students days off during major Muslim holidays.  In fact, this will soon be happening in New York City…

New York City is moving to close school for two Muslim holidays and the Lunar New Year — but Mayor de Blasio isn’t so sure about the Hindu festival Diwali.

Appearing on WNYC’s “Brian Lehrer Show” on Monday, the mayor said he hadn’t taken a position on whether Diwali, the festival of lights celebrated in India and other South Asian countries, should be a day off from school.

But he said he’d move forward with closing schools for Lunar New Year and for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, Muslim holy days.

But that is nothing compared to what happened at one high school in Colorado.  As students recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the words “under God” were replaced with “under Allah”…

The principal at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, is facing a hailstorm of criticism from some very angry parents and residents.

The school recites the Pledge of Allegiance weekly, on Mondays. Last Monday, a member of their “Cultural Arms Club” led the student body in an Arabic version of the pledge, replacing the words “under God” with “under Allah.”

Principal Tom Lopez denies any attempt to push an Islamic agenda, saying, “These students love this country. They were not being un-American in trying to do this. They believed they were accentuating the meaning of the words as spoken regularly in English.”

In the U.S., people are bending over backwards to make the Muslim minority feel more comfortable.

But in Muslim countries, Christians are being beaten to death, beheaded and crucified and very few people in the western world even want to talk about it.

Has our society become so “politically correct” that we cannot even denounce great evil when it is happening right in front of our eyes?

Christians ‘Crucified Again’ for Refusing Islam

To the awe of its readership, a recent Daily Mail article reports that the “jihadist Islamic State of Iraq and Levant [ISIL],” which is currently entrenched in Raqqa, Syria, “publicly crucified two Syrian rebels in northeastern Syria in revenge for a grenade attack on members of their group.”

While the Daily Mail is to be commended for exposing these barbaric acts—along with posting photos of the crucified—it nonetheless minimized their significance, in two important ways: 1) by repeatedly saying things like “even al-Qaeda is distancing itself from ISIL,” and so implying that the act of crucifixion is some wild aberration that even the poster-child of jihadi terror, al-Qaeda, wants nothing to do with it; and 2) ignoring the much “sexier” story that Christians in Syria are also being crucified simply for refusing to embrace Islam (as opposed to the rather mundane but politically more correct story of jihadis crucifying each other in the context of vendetta killings).

Consider the atrocities earlier committed in Ma‘loula, Syria, an ancient Christian village where the inhabitants still spoke Aramaic, the language of Christ.

According to recent Arabic news media, “a Syrian nun testified to the Vatican news agency that some Christians in Ma‘loula were crucified for refusing to convert to Islam or pay jizya” (tribute subjugated Christians are required to pay to their Islamic conquerors in order to exist as Christians, per Koran 9:29).

Incidentally, they were crucified by the al-Qaeda linked Nasra Front (so much for Daily Mail’s portrayal of al-Qaeda “distancing” itself from the apparently “extra-extremist” ISIL for crucifying its victims).

Sister Raghad, the former head of the Patriarchate School in Damascus who currently resides in France, told Vatican Radio how she personally witnessed jihadi rebels terrorize Ma‘loula, including by pressuring Christians to proclaim the shehada—Islam’s credo that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger—which, when uttered before Muslim witnesses transforms the speaker into a Muslim, with the death penalty for apostasy should the convert later “renege” by returning to Christianity.

According to the nun, those Christians who refused to embrace Islam were

killed in atrocious and violent ways that cannot be described.  If you want examples, they crucified two youths in Ma‘loula for refusing to proclaim Islam’s credo, saying to them: “Perhaps you want to die like your teacher [Christ] whom you believe in?  You have two choices: either proclaim the shehada or else be crucified.”  One of them was crucified before his father, whom they also killed.

In fact, according to earlier media reports from October 2013, soon after Ma‘loula fell to the jihadis, one “shaky voiced” elderly Christian man had reported that he heard the invading jihadis shouting, “Convert to Islam, or you will be crucified like Jesus.”

It is, of course, a documented fact that some Christians in Ma‘loula were put to death for refusing to convert to Islam, such as Minas, an Armenian man, while other families succumbed to pressure and converted to Islam.

But it is not clear whether the two crucified Christians mentioned by the nun are among the three men in Ma‘loula who, according to Asia News, “refused to repudiate their religion” and thus “were summarily executed in public”—so many and varied were the barbaric acts, including beheadings, ****, and infanticide during the rebel occupation, not to mention the other massacres in other Christian regions the mainstream media failed to report on.

These three were declared martyrs by the Syrian Greek-Catholic Church, or as Patriarch Gregorios III explained to Pope Francis in a meeting: “Holy Father, they are true martyrs. Ordered to give up their faith, they proudly refused. Three others however gave in and were forced to declare themselves Muslim, but later returned to the faith of their ancestors.”

For his part, and according to a May 3rd Arabic report, Pope Francis recently said, “I wept when I saw reports saying that Christians were being crucified in some non-Christian countries.”

The fact is, crucifixion is a prescribed form of punishment in the Koran (5:33) and occurs throughout the Islamic world with much greater frequency than suggested by the Daily Mail.  For example:

Iraq, June 2008: A Canadian parliamentary committee heard about how “militant Muslims” were crucifying Christian children in order to terrorize Christians into fleeing Iraq: “Since the war began in 2003, about 12 children, many as young as 10, have been kidnapped and killed, then nailed to makeshift crosses near their homes to terrify and torment their parents.”
Ivory Coast, May 2011: Two Christian peasant brothers were “brutally crucified” on “the example of Christ” by Muslim forces accusing them of being supportive of the ousted Christian president.  One died, while the other survived: “The pair were badly beaten and tortured before being crudely nailed to cross-shaped planks by their hands and feet with steel spikes.”
Egypt, August 2012: Multiple media agencies reported that during one uprisal against Islamist president Muhammad Morsi, Muslim Brotherhood operatives crucified some protesters on trees.   Earlier, a Salafi MP in Egypt called for the penal codification of crucifixion.
Yemen, August 2012: A video of a man crucified on the accusation of spying for the U.S. appeared.  A sign placed above his head quotes Koran 5:33:  “The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off from opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter.”

Of course, if one delves into Islamic history, one learns that crucifixions were extremely common.  For example, Witnesses For Christ: Orthodox Christian Neomartyrs of the Ottoman Period 1437-1860 lists crucifixion as one of the many forms thousands of Christians were executed by the Muslim Turks.

And in her memoir, Ravished Armenia, Aurora Mardiganian described how in the early twentieth century in the city of Malatia, she saw 16 girls crucified, vultures eating their corpses: “Each girl had been nailed alive upon her cross, spikes through her feet and hands,” wrote the Armenian survivor. “Only their hair blown by the wind covered their bodies.”

Prescribed in the Koran itself, crucifixions are as old as Islam and, with the global revival of the latter, are returning with increased frequency.  And, although it is more politically correct to report on jihadis crucifying other jihadis—other terrorists or “spies”—the fact is, many more innocent Christians are being crucified again, including simply for refusing to embrace Islam and thus renounce Christ.

“We will enter churches and slaughter Christians…We are calling on all Muslims to come out and fight jihad”
March 31, 2014

Here is a pungent bit of interfaith outreach from the Jamaʻat Ahl as-Sunnah lid-daʻwa wal-Jihād, the Party of the People of the Sunnah for Dawah and Jihad, better known as Boko Haram (“Books bad!”). What is astonishing about this is how the mainstream media ignores this frankly and openly genocidal rhetoric, and instead focuses on the enormities of the Nigerian security forces — as if the secret to ending this jihad were just being gentler with these poor dears.

“Boko Haram Derides Nigerian Police In Video, Says Churches, Christians And Nigerian State Remain Targets,” from Sahara Reporters, March 28 (thanks to Shoebat.com):

The Jamaʻat Ahl as-Sunnah lid-daʻwa wal-Jihād, widely known as Boko Haram, has derided the Nigerian Police ‘women’ in a video detailing how the sect attacked Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri on March 14, 2014.

The 24-minute video appears to confirm the sect’s sophistication as well as its access to modern weaponry.

The video shows the sect exhibiting their warfare techniques, shooting targets from specialized armed vans, as well as holding and firing grenades from the ground. It also shows the sect’s commanders coordinating operations by giving orders.

The footage contains details of how the sect launched attacks from several directions in and around the military barracks. It also shows hundreds of people the sect claimed to have freed from detention by the Nigerian military.

Warning Nigerian police officers to stay off their path, the sect sang, “Police give us way, you are too weak and small to stop us. You are all women and we understand you.”

The sect sang that their demand for Sharia cannot be compromised. They restated that their targets remained churches, Christians and the Nigerian state. Part of the song stated, “We are working for Allah and must bring Shariah to existence; we are committed to protecting Muslims from being annihilated by infidels. We are going to kill them. We will enter Churches and slaughter Christians and barracks. We are calling on all Muslims to come out and fight Jihad. If you joke, these infidels will annihilate Muslims. You see how they are killing our women and children.”

The group boasted that it had demonstrated its prowess in Borno, Bauchi and Abuja, and the infidels of Plateau, Kaduna, Adamawa and Gombe.

They vowed to fight for Shariah will all their might until success was achieved.

The Nigerian military was yet to react officially to the clip since it was posted yesterday.

U.S. Becomes Chief Enabler of Christian Persecution
Muslim Persecution of Christians, January 2014

"We are looking for the bishop of this church to slaughter him -- we are tired of the existence of this church near our mosque and the noise they are making." — Church elder quoting Muslims who attacked a priest, Zanzibar.

"Muslims wanted to punish [him]...because he had recently organised a demonstration against violence in Islam." — Local priest of a murdered Christian, Bangladesh.

"O people of the Scripture [Christians]. Do not exceed the limits of your religion....Cease! It will be better for you...." — Koran, 4:171, Billboard in Nazareth, Israel.

Human rights organization Open Doors published its 2014 World Watch List in January, highlighting and ranking the top 50 nations that persecute Christians. The overwhelming majority of countries making the list—and nine of the top-ten worst offenders—are Muslim, and include nations from among America's allies (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait) and its contenders (Iran); from among economically rich nations (Qatar) and poor nations (Somalia and Yemen); from among "Islamic republic" nations (Afghanistan), "democracies" (Iraq), and "moderate" nations (Malaysia and Indonesia).

The report also indicates that every Muslim nation that the U.S. has helped "liberate," including during the "Arab Spring," has become significantly worse for Christians and other minorities. Previously moderate Syria is now ranked the third-worst nation in the world in which to be Christian, Iraq fourth, Afghanistan fifth, and Libya 13th. All four receive the worst designation in the ranking process: "extreme persecution."

Three of these countries—Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya—were "liberated" in part thanks to U.S. forces, while in the fourth, Syria, the U.S. is actively sponsoring "freedom fighters" against the regime. Many of these "freedom fighters" have been responsible for any number of atrocities—including massacres, beheadings, and the crucifixion of Christians, and others.

Despite this track record of interfering in Islamic nations, only for the human rights of minorities to plummet, and despite the fact that Syria has gotten dramatically worse for Christian minorities, Secretary of State John Kerry declared in January that, if only Bashar Assad goes away, "I believe that a peace can protect all of the minorities: Druze, Christian, Isma'ilis, Alawites—all of them can be protected, and you can have a pluralistic Syria, in which minority rights of all people are protected."

The same was predicted of Iraq over a decade ago, yet today, well more than half of the Christians are either dead or have fled, after years of constant attacks on their churches and persons once the Arab dictator Saddam Hussein was ousted.

Libya offers a more recent precedent. Since U.S.-backed "rebels" overthrew Qaddafi, Christians—including Americans—have been tortured and killed (some for refusing to convert), churches bombed, and nuns threatened.

January's roundup of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and country in alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity.

Attacks on Christian Places of Worship

Egypt: Christian churches were severely targeted during the first month of 2014. Among other incidents, during New Year Eve church services, Muslim Brotherhood supporters attacked St. George Church in Ain Shams; one young Coptic man died from a bullet wound to the head. International Christian Concern reports that on Friday, January 3, Muslim Brotherhood supporters also attacked an Evangelical Church in the Gesr El Suez area of Cairo, "pelt[ing] stones on the church and chanting slogans against Christians," in the words of a local. Reports indicate that "there was no security for the church building and that the attackers operated with impunity." On Sunday, January 5, security forces in Suez disrupted a terrorist cell belonging to the "Supporters of Jerusalem," whose members were plotting to attack a nearby church during January 7 Orthodox Christmas celebrations. In the bathroom of the Three Saints Church in the city of Beni Suef, the police found, among other items, a bomb, which was defused by police. On January 10, security forces "arrested a bearded person in possession of four hand grenades in a handbag next to the Church of Two Saints," according to a local Christian. (In 2011, a suicide attack on the same church on New Year's Eve resulted in the killing of over 20 Christian worshippers). On January 24, authorities found explosives inside a car parked behind the Al Malak Church, which was targeted, "to be exploded," sources told International Christian Concern. On January 25, security forces in the city of Ismailia found 26 Molotov Cocktails inside a bag next to the Church of St. Bishoy. Witnesses say that the person in possession of the bag of explosives was sitting in a car next to the church and that "he fled when he saw the policemen." On January 28, "A group of armed men," according to Asia News "attacked the Coptic Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary in the governorate of Giza. Police responded to gunfire and one officer died in the shootout, while two others were injured."

Indonesia: In the province of Aceh, where Sharia law holds sway, Christians, who make up 1.2 percent of the population, continue to be denied permits to build churches. According to Agenzia Fides, "There are only three churches in the provincial capital Banda Aceh (one Catholic and two Protestant), and even though the Christian population in Aceh is increasing, the requirements to obtain permits and the pressures of radical Islamic groups on the civilian authorities have made it extremely difficult for non-Muslims to build new places of worship. Moreover, the current governor of the province, Zaini Abdullah, who was elected in 2012, promotes a declared program of islamization of society." According to Zulfikar Muhammad, coordinator of the Aceh Human Rights Coalition, the laws that appear within Sharia districts "limit the freedom of minorities to practice their faith and are not coherent with the Indonesian Constitution."

Malaysia: An unidentified assailant hurled two firebombs at a shrine fronting the Church of the Assumption. Only one bomb ignited, causing minor damage to the structure. The assault seems to have been the response to Christians using the word "Allah" to refer to the biblical God. "But the incident," said Sky News, "stirred memories of a wave of such attacks on places of worship—mostly churches—four years ago during an earlier bout of divisions over the dispute in the Muslim-majority country.... Conservative Muslims have raised pressure in recent weeks for Malay-speaking Christians to stop using the word 'Allah.'"

Nigeria: On a Friday in the Muslim-majority north, gunmen suspected of being members of the Islamic organization Boko Haram burned down a church and the house of a National Assembly member. Separately, in the midst of several Sunday morning raids by Muslim Fulani herdsmen, at least fifteen Christians were killed.

South Sudan: During clashes between rebel groups and the recently formed government of South Sudan, Catholic and Protestant churches were attacked and priests forced to flee for their lives. The whereabouts of a bishop who disappeared remains unknown. Some 600,000 people, most of them Christian, have also fled their homes amid reports of mass slaughters and ongoing attacks on churches.

Zanzibar: More than 100 Muslims stormed a church following an evening worship service and beat the visiting preacher. According to a church elder, "These rowdy Muslims were shouting and yelling, saying, 'We are looking for the bishop of the church to slaughter him—we are tired of the existence of this church near our mosque and the noise they are making.'" The Islamic mob fled when police arrived—but not before tearing the visiting pastor's coat and shirt, and causing him to suffer multiple injuries requiring treatment. According to another church member, the "congregation has been living in fear for their lives... At the moment we cannot worship freely because we are being threatened. The Muslims are accusing us of making a lot of noise while they themselves make a lot of noise."

Attacks on Christian Freedom: Apostasy, Blasphemy, Proselytism

Algeria: Ali Touahir, a 52-year-old Muslim convert to Christianity, is paying the price for apostasy: his Muslim wife has left him, taking their seven-year-old daughter, and is divorcing him in court. One of his wife's brothers has openly threatened to kill him. According to court documents, the wife's lawyer wrote: "It is not possible that my client [the Muslim wife] still remain under the same roof with a man who has renounced his religion, as he became apostate; and we are not ignorant of the punishment that is due an apostate under sharia [death]."

Israel: Christians in Nazareth were warned against "slandering" Allah. A large billboard was posted in Nazareth featuring a picture of a stop sign, along with Koran 4:171 which reads: "O people of the Scripture [Christians]! Do not exceed the limits of your religion. Say nothing but the truth about Allah (The One True God). The Christ Jesus, Son of Mary, was only a Messenger of God and His word conveyed to Mary and a spirit created by Him. So believe in God and His messengers and do not say: 'Three gods (trinity).' Cease! It will be better for you. Indeed, Allah is the One and the Only God. His Holiness is far above having a son."

Kazakhstan: A court fined two Protestant Christians for possession of Christian publications, which it defined as "extremist material." According to a note sent to Agenzia Fides, a "tough system of religious censorship imposed by the state" prevails in the nation. Earlier, in October, 2013, Bibles and icons in a small shop were seized by police, and the owner indicted for the sale of religious material without the permission of the state. Similarly, a 67-year-old Christian Presbyterian Pastor has been under arrest since May 17, 2013, on charges of distributing "extremist material" -- basic leaflets on the Christian faith.

Lebanon: After allegations of blasphemy, that a decades-old library owned by a Christian and church leader possessed "material deemed insulting to Islam and Muhammad," the building was torched in an arson attack; two-thirds of its 80,000 books and manuscripts were destroyed.

Malaysia: Christians using the word "Allah" for worship were again attacked by Muslim groups. Similarly, a portrait of Fr. Andrew Lawrence, Director of the Catholic Weekly Herald, was burned; threats to his life continue. Msg. Murphy Pakiam, the region's Archbishop Emeritus, in a letter asked that authorities to "take the necessary measures to prevent further provocative acts of intimidation against minorities." He concluded by saying, "Let us not forget to pray for our enemies, who have misunderstood our faith."

Pakistan: Asia Bibi, a Catholic Christian wife and mother who has been on death row for over four years without trial for allegedly blaspheming Islam and/or its prophet Muhammad, sent a message to Pope Francis saying that "only God will be able to free me.... I also hope that every Christian has been able to celebrate the Christmas just past with joy. Like many other prisoners, I also celebrated the birth of the Lord in prison in Multan, here in Pakistan... I would have liked to be in St. Peter's for Christmas to pray with you, but I trust in God's plan for me and hopefully it will be achieved next year."

Dhimmitude and Murder

Bangladesh: Ovidio Marandy, a young Christian and brother of a Catholic priest, was murdered. According to his brother and family, "Muslim radicals wanted to punish the young man, a well-known figure in the local Catholic community, because he had recently organised a demonstration in his village against Islamist violence," and more generally was speaking for Christian rights in the Muslim majority nation. According to the local Christian priest, "We are shocked by what happened. Christians have the right to vote. Why are Islamists attacking us? We want peace."

Buddhists and Christians protest Islamist violence in Bangladesh.

Egypt: Yet another Coptic Christian child was kidnapped in Egypt. Thirteen-year-old Cyril Rif'at Fayiz was abducted in the Minya district by "unknown persons" who later called the child's parents demanding one million Egyptian pounds, the equivalent of nearly $150,000 USD -- an exorbitant sum for Egyptian villagers.

Syria: Two Armenian families were compelled to convert to Islam at the hands of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and one young Armenian man, Minas, was killed for refusing. According to iNews, "Minas and his father were held in ISIL's prison for 115 days, according to one activist, and his accusation was that he refused to submit [to Islam; convert]." The same report mentions other Christian Armenians killed, including one who reportedly had "his head chopped off and placed in a biscuit box." Separately, according to Aleteia.org, another Christian man, Fadi, was beheaded and his body stabbed with his own crucifix, which had exposed him as a Christian to "rebels" who had stopped his car.

Turkey: Protests against Christmas and New Year celebrations were described as "unprecedented" by Al-Monitor. The campaign was led by the Anatolian Youth Association (AYA), the youth branch of the pro-Islamic Felicity Party. In one instance, in various Istanbul neighborhoods, members displayed posters picturing a Muslim man punching Santa Claus, with the slogan "No to New Year's and Christmas celebrations." The group also distributed flyers stating, "We are crying out that the New Year's and Christmas celebrations held in our country are wrong and constitute a blow dealt to our Muslim identity." On 26 December at Beyazit Square in Istanbul, the AYA stabbed an inflatable Santa while chanting against Christmas and New Year celebrations. One Christian bishop expressed concerns that the Santa parody was "like a rehearsal" for attacks on real people: "A handful of Christians are left in this country, and such incidents naturally cause fear... The savage murders of missionaries took place in the wake of similar hate campaigns."

About this Series

While not all, or even most, Muslims are involved, persecution of Christians is expanding. "Muslim Persecution of Christians" was developed to collate some—by no means all—of the instances of persecution that surface each month.

It documents what the mainstream media often fails to report.

It posits that such persecution is not random but systematic, and takes place in all languages ethnicities and locations.

Why Does Christian Persecution Get Worse In Every Country The U.S. “Liberates”?

When the U.S. military “liberates” a nation, shouldn’t it result in more liberty, freedom and peace for the people living there?  Instead, we find just the opposite.  In fact, in every single case since 9/11, when the U.S. military has “liberated” a nation it has resulted in the persecution of Christians in that country becoming much worse.  In areas where we spent hundreds of billions of dollars and where thousands of precious American lives were sacrificed, churches are regularly being bombed, Christians are being brutally beheaded, and laws have been passed to make it illegal for a Muslim to convert to Christianity.  If we were not even able to provide the most basic of liberties and freedoms to the people living in those nations, what in the world did we actually accomplish by “liberating” them?

Just look at what has happened in Afghanistan.  We have been at war in Afghanistan for more than a dozen years, and yet things are so bad for Christians in that country at this point that there is not a single church left…

The supposedly “moderate” Karzai government installed by the U.S. upholds many of the draconian laws enforced by the Taliban—including the apostasy law, fiercely persecuting those who seek to convert to Christianity—and, in 2011, under U.S. auspices, it destroyed Afghanistan’s last Christian church.

We find a similar story in Iraq.  It is estimated that before the invasion, there were up to 2 million Christians living in Iraq.  Now that number is down to less than 450,000, and it is falling fast.

In fact, things are so dire for Iraq’s Christian community that some Iraqi Christian leaders are warning that Christians may soon become “extinct” in that nation…

As the mass exodus of Iraq’s Christians continues, so does the call for ending the plight of those who have remained. Like Iraq’s ancient Jewish community before them, one of the world’s oldest Christian communities may soon cease to exist.

The disappearance of Iraq’s religious minorities has been a troubling trend since the US-led invasion in 2003, and it has threatened to end the cultural diversity of Iraq. As the violence in the country spikes and religious intolerance grows, many Christians, Yazidis, Mandaeans and other minority community members are leaving the country.

Last week, the head of the Iraqi Catholic Church sent a chilling warning that Iraq’s 2,000-year-old Christian community is on the brink of extinction as new waves of Christians take the journey of exodus.

It is estimated that the Iraq war cost U.S. taxpayers more than 2 trillion dollars.

We spent more than a million dollars on one soccer field alone (which has now turned to dust).

In the end, what did we actually accomplish?

The Obama administration likes to brag about how it got rid of Qaddafi and “liberated” Libya, but now al-Qaeda is in control of much of the country and things are much worse for Christians than ever before…

Ever since U.S.-backed, al-Qaeda-linked terrorists overthrew Qaddafi, Christians—including Americans—have indeed suffered extreme persecution. Churches have been bombed; Christians have been tortured and killed (including for refusing to convert); and nuns have been threatened.

In Syria, the Obama administration is shamelessly allying with radical al-Qaeda jihadists in a desperate attempt to overthrow the Assad regime.

As these jihadists torture, behead and even crucify Christian believers, the mainstream media in the United States is virtually silent about it.

Why is the media being so quiet?

Well, because exposing what is going on would make the Obama administration look bad.

Those carrying out this persecution of Christians in Syria are being directly funded and aided by the governments of the United States and Saudi Arabia.  For much more on what is going on in Syria, please see my previous article entitled “Why Is The Media Silent About The Crucifixion Of Christians By Radical Jihadists?”

And of course it is not just in the Middle East where this kind of persecution of Christians is taking place.

While Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, the State Department refused to label Boko Haram as a terrorist organization.

But now the whole world is talking about Boko Haram.  This group has attacked more than 700 churches in Nigeria over the past seven years, and this has resulted in a massive exodus of Christians from northern Nigeria to southern Nigeria…

Christian groups estimate that up to a quarter of the 4,000 people killed by Boko Haram since 2009 have been Christians, and more than 700 churches have been attacked in the last seven years alone, according to the Nigerian Catholic Bishop’s Conference. Across the troubled north-east, many Christian neighbourhoods are now ghost towns as tens of thousands of residents flee south. It is one of the biggest Christian exoduses of the century, yet largely unremarked outside of Nigeria.

It is hard to put into words how brutal Boko Haram can be.  As a recent article in the Telegraph described, the persecution of Christians in northern Nigeria by Boko Haram  has been absolutely relentless…

Arriving at St Joseph’s church in the Nigerian town of Gashua, Father John Bakeni knew he was taking on a tough posting. A flyblows settlement near the northern border with Niger, his new parish was smack in the heart of Boko Haram territory, and in the previous three years, all but a fraction of its 3,000-strong Christian minority had fled.

Sent by his bishop to show that the diocese had not deserted the town, he spent much of the following year trying to reassure the 200 remaining parishioners. But nearly every time he ventured from his rectory, a reminder would await him of the difficulty of his mission.

“Several times a week I would find a dead animal had been thrown in the compound, usually a chicken, goat or sheep, but sometimes dead cats too,” said Fr Bakeni, 38. “Stones would get thrown at the church almost every day, and sometimes also people would bang the gates and shout: ‘Infidel, we are going to kill you.’

So why has the Obama administration been so hesitant to speak out against Boko Haram until now?

In fact, although most Americans do not realize this, the Obama administration has been quite supportive of Boko Haram in the past.  Obama even actually threatened the Nigerian government with economic sanctions in 2013 in an attempt to keep them from cracking down on Boko Haram.

What in the world was the Obama administration thinking?

Whose side are they on anyway?

If you love liberty and freedom, you should be deeply troubled by the spread of groups such as Boko Haram.

Just look at what is happening in another part of Africa where jihadists have gained control.  In Sudan, a pregnant woman was recently sentenced to death by hanging for marrying a Christian man…

A Sudanese woman doctor who married a Christian man and who was convicted earlier this week on charges of “apostasy” was sentenced to death on Thursday, judicial officials said.

According to the Sudanese officials, 26-year-old Meriam Ibrahim, whose father was Muslim, was convicted on Sunday and given four days to repent and escape death. She was sentenced after that grace period expired, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

The BBC reported the woman’s death by hanging will not be carried out until two years after the birth of her child.

This kind of tyranny should not be tolerated in today’s world.

But instead, the U.S. government seems to be helping to spread it.

Boko Haram Adopts ISIS' Religious Cleansing Strategy

Human rights advocates are concerned that terrorist group Boko Haram has adopted the religious cleansing tactics of ISIS.

Fox News reports Boko Haram has targeted Christians and other religious minorities in several attacks across Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger.

Open Doors USA president David Curry said, “That is the strategy of Boko Haram. These attacks are escalating.”

Boko Haram has already expressed its allegiance to ISIS in an online video. Like ISIS, the group has already killed thousands of people that disagree with ideology.

Media Highly Sensitive to ‘Blasphemy’ Against Islam, But Still Merrily ‘Provocative’ Against Christians

The tongue-clucking against Pamela Geller for her Mohammed Art Exhibit reached deafening levels over the weekend, as media conventional wisdom solidified around the “irresponsible abuse of free speech” talking point. Under this weird interpretation of the First Amendment, liberals wish to be given enormous credit for conceding that Geller technically has a free-speech right to violate sharia speech codes, but she should be condemned by all right-thinking people for actually doing it.

“Not since Westboro Baptist Church’s ‘God Hates Fags’ message and Florida pastor Terry Jones burning the Koran has the principle of free speech been so sullied and abused,” sniffed Kathleen Parker at the Washington Post.

Got that, everyone?  Threatening violence to suppress free speech, and making good on the threat, doesn’t “sully and abuse” the First Amendment, but defying the violent extremists does.

This sudden concern for religious sensibility from the media elite is astounding, since it seems like only yesterday they were gleefully encouraging hate mobs to trash Christians who dared to politely assert their own religious beliefs. The media elite has no problem whatsoever with cartoons, and other forms of entertainment, designed to offend Christians. In fact, merely expressing criticism of such entertainment is considered deeply uncool, and very nearly a hate crime unto itself.

Mockery of Christian faith is rarely even portrayed as “offensive,” the way Mohammed cartoons are routinely and uncritically described as “offensive” to Islam, no questions asked. Instead, art that makes sport of, or even actively insults, any religious faith except Islam is classified approvingly as “provocative” or “irreverent.”

There’s no sign of the tidal wave of “provocative” and “irreverent” entertainment slowing down, even as our media elites declare themselves experts on the finer points of sharia law and castigate uncouth “far right” types for daring to violate them.

How about a TV series starring the Devil himself as the protagonist, helping the police solve supernatural crimes? It’s coming your way next year, courtesy of the Fox entertainment network.  The new show, called Lucifer, finds the “bored and unhappy” Lord of Hell handing over the keys to his old kingdom and moving to the “gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.”

That’s nothing compared to AMC’s upcoming Preacher, which like Lucifer is based on a series of graphic novels. “Preacher revolves around Rev. Jesse Custer, a badass Texas preacher who, after losing his faith, learns that God has left heaven and forsaken his duties,” explains the Hollywood Reporter. “Jesse becomes the only one who is able to track God down and hold him responsible for his abdication. Tulip O’Hare, Jesse’s beer-guzzling vampire ex-girlfriend, accompanies him on his quest for answers. But the story doesn’t end there: The Saint of Killers, an immortal killing machine and Western lone gunman type, is hot on their trail with his sights set on Jesse.”

Allow me to put my cards on the table: I’ve read both Lucifer and Preacher in their entirety, and found them very well-written, beautifully drawn, and frequently hilarious. I’m not calling for any sort of censorship against them. Fans of the books are doubtless looking forward to seeing a talented cast bring these memorable characters alive. The Lucifer series offers one of the most interesting and offbeat fictional portrayals of the Devil; the actor who plays him will have quite a challenge on his hands.

I can also see why Christians of sincere faith would find them both offensive, especially Preacher, which is deliberately, gleefully, deliriously offensive. The Hollywood Reporter’s synopsis is incorrect on several points (there is a beer-guzzling vampire involved, but it’s not the hero’s ex-girlfriend) and really soft-pedals a few others. For example, our heroes run into a Da Vinci Code-style Church conspiracy, but the terrible theological secret they’re hiding would make Dan Brown sick to his stomach. The Saint of Killers is a lot more than just a pissed-off cowboy. God is an absolute bastard, while the angelic host is a pack of cowardly, egotistical, back-stabbing bureaucrats.

Lucifer looks to be setting its sights considerably lower than its graphic-novel inspiration, which told a huge, cosmic story about the title character’s relationship with God and the rest of the angels. Actually, what I’ve seen of the TV adaptation makes it sound like a prequel to the events of the original books. If the series is at all faithful to its inspiration, however, it will portray God as a somewhat abusive absentee father, most of the angels as dithering twits – with a few outright villains mixed in – and you don’t want to know what Adam’s first wife Lilith has been up to.

Again, I’ve read and enjoyed these books, so my purpose is not to stoke public outrage, or demand any sort of pre-emptive censorship. I’m curious to see if AMC is willing to go where Preacher wants to take it – HBO had the rights for a while, but could never work up the nerve to pull the trigger on its proposed series, which should tell you a lot about what viewers are in for.

I merely observe that nothing remotely comparable based on the Koran instead of the Bible would be permitted. Few would have the guts to write such a book – look what happened to Salman Rushdie – and if anyone did, Western media would denounce the writer as a “hate criminal.” They would be held partially or fully responsible for any violence perpetrated against them, and castigated for irresponsibly “abusing” their First Amendment rights.
