Pope Francis Claims: ‘The Christian Who Does Not Feel Mary Is His Mother Is an Orphan’

Pope Francis focused on the person of Mary in statements issued both Tuesday and Wednesday, making assertions that some opine are unbiblical and heretical.

“The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan,” he Tweeted on Tuesday, a post that generated much criticism from around the world.

“Sorry fella, you lost me on this one,” one follower wrote.

But over 5,600 followers favorited the Tweet and over 3,600 shared it.

Today, the pope gave his weekly address in Rome, speaking about the Roman Catholic Church serving as a “mother” to the world, and exhorting the Church to follow Mary as an example of how to be a mother.

Tweet“In our catecheses, we have often noted that we do not become a Christian on our own, but by being born and nurtured in the faith in the midst of the People of God, that is the Church,” he stated. “She is a true mother who gives us life in Christ, and in the communion of the Holy Spirit, brings us into a common life with our brothers and sisters.”

“The model of motherhood for the Church is the Blessed Virgin Mary, who in the fullness of time conceived through the Holy Spirit and gave birth to the Son of God,” Pope Francis continued. “Her motherhood continues through the Church, who brings forth sons and daughters through baptism, whom she nourishes through the word of God.”

According to the Catholic News Agency, he also urged the crowds to seek the intercession of Mary, and pray that they can “learn from her that tenderness which allows us to be witnesses of maternity of the Church.”

Christian News Network asked Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries in Plano, Texas to share his thoughts Wednesday regarding the pope’s latest Tweet asserting that those who reject Mary as mother are orphans. He expressed disagreement, stating that as per Romans 8:15, those who receive the adoption of sons through the blood of Jesus can never be orphans.

“The pope continues to display his biblical ignorance,” he said. “Pope Francis does not know that Christians cannot be orphans because they have been adopted into God’s eternal family. No one can be an orphan who has received the Spirit of adoption as sons joyfully cry out ‘Abba! Father!’”

Gendron also took issue with the Tweet referring to Christians, stating that Christians and Catholics are two separate entities.

“The pope should stick to Tweeting about Catholics since he does not know how Scripture defines a Christian,” he said. “The Roman Catholic Church not only fabricates heresies concerning Mary, but does the same with her son Jesus by denying that He is the all-sufficient Savior.”

“His religion teaches that a Catholic needs to be justified repeatedly by sacraments and works because he/she loses the grace of justification each time a mortal sin is committed,” Gendron stated. “A Christian is justified once by faith because justification is a permanent declaration of righteousness by God. A Catholic is purified by the fires of Purgatory. A Christian is purified by the blood of Jesus.”

Pope Francis About To Decree Virgin Mary To Be More Important Than Jesus Christ?
9/15/14

For most of the world, Pope Francis is the one pope that everyone seems to like. With is open mind and open attitude to other religions, as well as his more humanist approach to being Catholic, many have fallen under his spell of universal peace. The Inquisitr reported numerous times on the pope’s actions that appeal to others. This includes stating that atheists are also saved, inviting Muslims to pray Islamic prayers at the Vatican, and even stating that Evangelizing is one thing that doesn’t equate to personal happiness.

However, many Evangelical Christians are not happy with the pope. With reports such as Pope Francis saying the only way to God is through the Catholic Church (and not Jesus Christ, who said He was the way) to promoting Chrislam (A religion made by combining Christianity and Islam together), it is no wonder Christ followers are upset. Now they are getting upset again because Pope Francis is about to decree the Virgin Mary to be the fourth entity in the Trinity (which makes it a Quartet).

According to an article by Vatican Radio, it reports that Pope Francis attended the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on Monday morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta. He made a reflection on the Virgin Mary, on how she learned, obeyed, and suffered at the foot of the Cross.

“And this is our hope. We are not orphans, we have Mothers: Mother Mary. But the Church is Mother and the Mother Church is anointed when it takes the same path of Jesus and Mary: the path of obedience, the path of suffering, and when she has that attitude of continually learning the path of the Lord. These two women – Mary and the Church – carry on the hope that is Christ, they give us Christ, they bring forth Christ in us. Without Mary, there would be no Jesus Christ; without the Church, we cannot go forward.”

The argument being presented is that Jesus Christ, the one who says that the only way to the Father is through Me, has been demoted to third place. By stating that without Mary, there would be no Jesus Christ, and with no church, they cannot move forward, Pope Francis effectually placed the Virgin Mary at the Godhead level.

Now The End Begins actually followed up on this news in which they related Pope Francis promoting the Virgin Mary to the status of God by citing verses 4 to 6 in the seventeenth chapter in the Book of Revelation.

“And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots and abominations of the earth. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”

Another thing to take notice is that the Godhead has appeared together numerous times, even in the Old Testament, meaning that Jesus Christ has existed even before he was born from the Virgin Mary. Good example is the first chapter of Genesis in which Soldier of Christ details that both the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are present during creation. And added note; the Virgin Mary – though Pope Francis has promoted her to Godhead level – is not mentioned.

What do you think of Pope Francis’ promotion of the Virgin Mary? Is he truly demoting Jesus Christ by placing higher importance on the Virgin Mary or are the semantics just being taken too literally? Please let us know in the comments below.

Pope Francis Claims Virgin Mary Is Second Trinity, At Godhead Level --- Report

Pope Francis, with his open-mindedness and more humanist approach to Catholicism reportedly promoted that the Virgin Mary should be at the second Holy Trinity, even putting her at Godhead level.

Pope Francis recently attended the morning mass for the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows on Sept. 15 at Casa Santa Marta. He preached on how the Virgin Mary "learned, obeyed and suffered at the foot of the cross," according to the Vatican Radio.

"Even the Mother, 'the New Eve', as Paul himself calls her, in order to participate in her Son's journey, learned, suffered and obeyed. And thus she becomes Mother," Pope Francis said.

The Pope further added that Mary is the "anointed Mother." Pope Francis said the Virgin Mary is one with the church. Without her Jesus Christ would not have been born and introduced into Christian lives. Without the Virgin Mary there would be no Mother Church.

"Without the Church, we cannot go forward," the Pope added during his sermon.

Now The End Begins claims Pope Francis' reflection on the Virgin Mary seems to suggest that people's hope is not through Jesus Christ but through her and the Mother Church.

The site claims his sermon somehow indicates a change in the position Jesus holds in the Holy Trinity.  Jesus has reportedly been downgraded to the third trinity. While the Virgin Mary and the Holy Mother Church, the Roman Catholic Church, takes over his place at the second trinity.

Additionally, basing on Pope Francis words he may have reportedly even put the status of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the "Godhead level."

Revelation 17:4-6 according to the site, gives meaning to the Pope's reflection. The chapter tells the story of the apostle John and his "great admiration" for the Virgin Mary. Now The End Begins claims the verses also speaks about the Holy Mother Church and how God thinks of the "holy Roman Mother Church".

However, the Bible seems to contradict Pope Francis promotion of the Virgin Mary to second trinity. The site quoted some passages wherein the "blessed hope" of the Christians is "the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ." There was reportedly never any mention of the Virgin Mary as being any kind of hope to anyone or anything.

But during the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, Pope Francis ended his reflection with the assurance of hope from the Virgin Mary and the Mother Church.

"Today we can go forward with a hope: the hope that our Mother Mary, steadfast at the Cross, and our Holy Mother, the hierarchical Church, give us," he said.

However, the Bible's passages shouldn't be taken literally, especially when it comes to reflections of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.

Is Pope Francis Preparing To Declare The ‘Virgin’ Mary To Be 4th Part Of The Trinity?

Francis says that our hope is not Jesus, but Mary and Mother Church

“The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.” Jeremiah 7:18

Even though they lie and say that they are only “venerating” her, the Roman Catholic Church has since the middle 1800’s worshipped Mary from the New Testament. They create idols of her, call her the Queen of Heaven, ascribe all sorts of miracles to her statues and bow down to her in worship. As someone who was raised in the Catholic Church and trained by Jesuits, I can testify that this 100% true. But Pope Francis this past weekend took Mary worship, a sin, to staggering new heights.

Francis, speaking to mark the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows in Casa Santa Marta, said the following:

“And this is our hope. We are not orphans, we have Mothers: Mother Mary. But the Church is Mother and the Mother Church is anointed when it takes the same path of Jesus and Mary: the path of obedience, the path of suffering, and when she has that attitude of continually learning the path of the Lord. These two women – Mary and the Church – carry on the hope that is Christ, they give us Christ, they bring forth Christ in us. Without Mary, there would be no Jesus Christ; without the Church, we cannot go forward“.

Jesus has been demoted to third place behind ‘mother’ Mary and the ‘Holy Mother Church’, the Roman Catholic Church. The bible says, however that the “blessed hope” of the Christian is “the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” Scripture never mentions Mary one time as being the hope of anyone or anything. But if you’re a Catholic Francis says that “ today we can go forward with a hope: the hope that our Mother Mary, steadfast at the Cross, and our Holy Mother, the hierarchical Church, give us.“

The position and title that Pope Francis has bestowed on Mary is, by his own words, equal or greater than that of the 2nd part of the Trinity, Jesus Christ. And though he has yet to use the words, he has effectually already placed her status firmly at the Godhead level.

Interesting thing, in the book of Revelation and speaking of the Roman Catholic Church, the apostle John writes this about that ‘holy mother church':

“And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”Revelation 17:4-6

And that’s what God thinks of the “holy Roman Mother Church”.

Mary did not stay as a virgin, she had a bunch of children with Joseph:

“And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” Mark 6:2,3

It’s because of scriptures like these that the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t want you to read and interpret the bible for yourself.

Pope at Santa Marta: Learning from Our Lady of Sorrows

Pope Francis marked the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows during Monday morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, with a reflection on how Mary learned, obeyed and suffered at the foot of the Cross.

The Holy Father said that in the liturgy of the day first we are shown the glorious Cross, then the meek and humble Mother. In the Letter to the Hebrews, "Paul emphasizes three strong words": he says that Jesus "learned, obeyed and suffered". "It’s the opposite of what had happened to our father Adam, who did not want to learn what the Lord commanded, who did not want to suffer, or obey." Instead, even though Jesus is God, He "is annihilated, He humbled Himself and became a servant. This is the glory of the Cross of Jesus":

"Jesus came into the world to learn how to be a man, and by being a man, walk with men. He came into the world to obey, and He obeyed. But he learned this obedience from suffering. Adam left Paradise with a promise, a promise that lasted for so many centuries. Today, through this obedience, this self-abnegation, this humiliation, through Jesus, that promise becomes hope. And the people of God walk with sure hope. Even the Mother, 'the New Eve', as Paul himself calls her, in order to participate in her Son’s journey, learned, suffered and obeyed. And thus she becomes Mother”.

The Gospel shows us Mary at the foot of the Cross. Jesus says to John, "Behold your mother." Mary - the Pope said - "is anointed Mother"

"And this is our hope. We are not orphans, we have Mothers: Mother Mary. But the Church is Mother and the Mother Church is anointed when it takes the same path of Jesus and Mary: the path of obedience, the path of suffering, and when she has that attitude of continually learning the path of the Lord. These two women - Mary and the Church - carry on the hope that is Christ, they give us Christ, they bring forth Christ in us. Without Mary, there would be no Jesus Christ; without the Church, we cannot go forward".

"Two women and two mothers" - continued the Pope Francis - and next to them our soul, which in the words of Isaac, the abbot of Stella, is "feminine" and is like "Mary and the Church".

"Today, looking at this woman by the Cross, steadfast in following her Son in His suffering to learn obedience, looking at her we see the Church and look at our Mother. And also, we look at our little soul that will never be lost, if it continues to be a woman close to these two great women who accompany us in life: Mary and the Church. And just as our fathers left Paradise with a promise, today we can go forward with a hope: the hope that our Mother Mary, steadfast at the Cross, and our Holy Mother, the hierarchical Church, give us. "

Pope Francis: 'Evolution Is Not Inconsistent With The Notion Of Creation'

VATICAN CITY (RNS) Pope Francis on Monday (Oct. 27) waded into the controversial debate over the origins of human life, saying the big bang theory did not contradict the role of a divine creator, but even required it.

The pope was addressing the plenary assembly of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, which gathered at the Vatican to discuss “Evolving Concepts of Nature.”

“When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so,” Francis said.

“He created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfillment.”

Francis said the beginning of the world was not “a work of chaos” but created from a principle of love. He said sometimes competing beliefs in creation and evolution could co-exist.

“God is not a divine being or a magician, but the Creator who brought everything to life,” the pope said. “Evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.”

Unlike much of evangelical Protestantism in the U.S., Catholic teaching traditionally has not been at odds with evolution. In 1950, Pope Pius XII proclaimed there was no opposition between evolution and Catholic doctrine. In 1996, St. John Paul II endorsed Pius’ statement.

**Odd, b/c the Catholic HS I went to - the city's archdiocese et al forbade Biology classes to teach evolution.

Some wondered if Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI wanted to change that when he and some acolytes seemed to endorse the theory of intelligent design, the idea that the world is too complex to have evolved according to Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection. Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn of Vienna, a close associate of Benedict, penned a widely noticed 2005 op-ed in The New York Times that said “Evolution in the sense of common ancestry might be true, but evolution in the neo-Darwinian sense — an unguided, unplanned process … is not.”

Giovanni Bignami, a professor and president of Italy’s National Institute for Astrophysics, welcomed Francis’ comments, saying he had buried the “pseudo theories” of creationists.

“The pope’s statement is significant,” Bignami told Italian news agency Adnkronos. “We are the direct descendents from the Big Bang that created the universe. Evolution came from creation.”

**2 years ago saw Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" when I was in a hotel - in this movie/novel, Brown telegraphed these very punches showing how the Vatican supports this.

Giulio Giorello, professor of the philosophy of science at Milan’s University degli Studi, said he believed Francis was “trying to reduce the emotion of dispute or presumed disputes” with science.

Francis made his speech while unveiling a bust in honor of Benedict, his predecessor, at the Vatican.

“Benedict XVI was a great pope: great for the power and penetration of his intellect, great for his significant contribution to theology, great for his love of the church and of human beings, great for his virtue and piety,” he said.

WHY ARE CATHOLICS UNABLE TO ADMIT THAT, YES, THEY DO PRAY TO MARY?

STATUES OF MARY WERE EVERYWHERE YOU LOOKED, WE WERE TAUGHT ABOUT THE MANY APPARITIONS OF MARY AROUND THE WORLD, CELEBRATED MARY ON MAY DAY, AND GIVE HER THE TOP SPOT IN OUR THOUGHTS AND DEVOTIONS. ST. MARY’S SCHOOL AND ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH TAUGHT US THESE THINGS BY ORDER OF THE VATICAN

“Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:10-12 (KJV)

In the interest of full disclosure, I was a Catholic for the first 30 years of my life. I was baptized as a baby, received “first holy communion”, was “confirmed”, spent 3 years as an altar boy in St. Mary’s Church in Pompton Lakes, NJ, and in total was educated in the Catholic school system for 12 long years. Part of our Catholic training was learning how to pray to the Virgin Mary. Statues of Mary were everywhere you looked, we were taught about the many apparitions of Mary around the world, celebrated Mary on May Day, and give her the top spot in our thoughts and devotions. St. Mary’s school and Roman Catholic Church taught us these things by order of the Vatican. Every other Catholic school or church I ever visited in 30 years did likewise. So with all that being said, why am I constantly hearing Catholics denying that they pray to Mary?

One reason for this, I suppose, is because prayer to anyone who is not God, who is not part of the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is blasphemy. So Catholics are taught to play “word games”, ala Bill Clinton, and get you debating the difference between praying to someone and simply “venerating” them. But as you will see below, this is nothing more than linguistic hogwash. Catholics absolutely do pray to Mary, and worst of all, they look to her for salvation!

But we shall let the words of some of the official, Vatican-approved Catholic prayers to Mary speak for themselves. There are hundreds of Catholic prayers to Mary, I just simply did a search and picked the first 4 at random. Read and decide for yourself:

The Memorare To Mary: “REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.” source
Prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Help: “O Mother of Perpetual Help, grant me ever to be able to call upon thy powerful name, since thy name is the help of the living and the salvation of the dying. Ah, Mary most pure, Mary most sweet, grant that thy name from this day forth may be to me the very breath of life. Dear Lady, delay not to come to my assistance whenever I call upon thee; for in all the temptations that assail me, in all the necessities that befall me, I will never leave off calling upon thee, ever repeating: Mary, Mary. What comfort, what sweetness, what confidence, what tenderness fills my soul at the sound of thy name, at the very thought of thee! I give thanks to our Lord, who for my sake hath given thee a name so sweet, so lovable, so mighty. But I am not content merely to speak thy name; I would utter it for very love of thee; it is my desire that love should ever remind me to name thee, Mother of Perpetual Help.” source
Hail, Holy Queen: “Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.” source
Prayer To Our Lady, Help Of Christians: “Most Holy Virgin Mary, Help of Christians, how sweet it is to come to your feet imploring your perpetual help. If earthly mothers cease not to remember their children, how can you, the most loving of all mothers forget me? Grant then to me, I implore you,  your perpetual help in all my necessities, in every sorrow, and especially in all my temptations. I ask for your unceasing help for all who are now suffering. Help the weak, cure the sick, convert sinners. Grant through your intercessions many vocations to the religious life.  Obtain for us, O Mary, Help of Christians, that having invoked you on earth we may love and eternally thank you in heaven.” source
On January 1, 2014, during the Roman Catholic Feast of the Mother of God, Pope Francis declared the following to be true about Mary:

“THE MOTHER OF THE REDEEMER PRECEDES US CONTINUALLY AND CONFIRMS US IN THE FAITH, IN THE VOCATION AND IN THE MISSION. WITH HER EXAMPLE OF HUMILITY AND OF AVAILABILITY TO THE WILL OF GOD, SHE HELPS US TO TRANSLATE OUR FAITH IN A JOYFUL ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE GOSPEL WITHOUT FRONTIERS. IN THIS WAY OUR MISSION WILL BE FRUITFUL, BECAUSE IT IS MODELLED ON THE MATERNITY OF MARY. TO HER WE ENTRUST OUR ITINERARY OF FAITH, THE DESIRES OF OUR HEART, OUR NECESSITIES, THE NEEDS OF THE WHOLE WORLD, ESPECIALLY THE HUNGER AND THE THIRST FOR JUSTICE AND PEACE; AND WE INVOKE HER ALL TOGETHER.”

HAVE YOU EVER LOOK TO SEE THE REFERENCES TO THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN IN THE BIBLE?

So as you can clearly see, not only does the Vatican teach it’s followers to pray to Mary, they have put her in place of Jesus Christ, to provide as they say “the needs of the whole world”. They call her the “advocate”, the “redeemer”, they call her “holy”, they call her the “intercessor”, and many other titles that belong to God alone. When you read the Bible you see that Mary was “blessed among woman”, but she was not blessed above women. The Bible in no way says or implies that she was “sinless”, and in fact, she goes to the Temple to make a sin offering. Lastly, no where in the Bible does it say or imply that she can now hear prayers or answer prayers. None of that is in the Bible. But you do find this reference to the Queen of Heaven that’s pretty interesting:

“The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.” Jeremiah 7:18 (KJV)

Yikes! That’s not good…

Do Catholics pray to Mary? Absolutely. They just don’t have the guts to admit they do.

HOW THE KING JAMES BIBLE ABSOLUTELY DISPROVES THE PERPETUAL VIRGINITY OF MARY

One of the arguments presented by the Catholic Church is that if Jesus really did have other brothers and sisters, then why did He have to tell His disciple John to care for Mary? The answer is quite obvious - the all deserted Him in accordance with Old Testament prophecy. Only John, the "disciple that Jesus loved" remained till the bitter and glorious end.

TODAY WE ARE GOING TO SEE WHERE THE KING JAMES BIBLE, IN BOTH OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS, REVEALS THAT MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS ABSOLUTELY HAD OTHER CHILDREN.

“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” Mark 6:3 (KJV)

If you want to see how a Catholic reacts to the above verse? Go to PPF, you have to join to see the religion section, then search for that verse with DOK in the search.  Grin

One reason why the King James Bible is hated by the Catholic Church and Laodicean “christian” scholarship is because of the treasure trove of information it contains that no other version of the Bible does to disprove so many false doctrines taught in our day. For example, only in the KJV can you run the references to discover that the identity of the coming Antichrist is none other than Judas Iscariot, the ‘son of perdition’ revealed by a sop. It also shows you what the word Selah really means, and it has nothing to do with meditating on peaceful thoughts of  sweet baby Jesus. It reveals a global war.

TODAY WE ARE GOING TO SEE WHERE THE KING JAMES BIBLE, IN BOTH OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS, REVEALS THAT MARY THE MOTHER OF JESUS ABSOLUTELY HAD OTHER CHILDREN.

The Bible verse at the top of this article clearly shows that Jesus, the carpenter son of Mary, had four brothers named James, Joses, Juda and Simon. Not only that, He had an unnamed number of sisters, but two at the very least. The Catholic Church lamely attempts to dispute this by saying that the word “brother” doesn’t always mean brother, and that they could have been cousins. Then they run to the “teachings of the early church fathers” to try and show Mary’s “perpetual virginity”:

“THE ORIGIN IS DIFFERENT BUT THE NATURE ALIKE: NOT BY INTERCOURSE WITH MAN BUT BY THE POWER OF GOD WAS IT BROUGHT ABOUT: FOR A VIRGIN CONCEIVED, A VIRGIN BORE, AND A VIRGIN SHE REMAINED [SERMONS 22:2 (A.D. 450)]. – POPE ST. LEO I

BUT IN ALL THEIR BLATHER ABOUT ATTEMPTING TO CAST DOUBT ON THE CLEAR TEACHING OF JESUS’ SIBLINGS IN MARK 6, THEY FORGOT ALL ABOUT PSALM 69.

Psalm 69 is one of those great psalms of David where he starts out talking about himself, but winds up prophesying about the crucifixion of the Messiah Jesus on the cross. Let’s start with the very well-known passage talking about events leading to His death:

“For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” Psalm 69:9 (KJV)

We know that this is talking about Jesus driving out the moneychangers in the Temple because John 2:17 says it is. This is what John recorded:

“And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.” John 2:15-17 (KJV)

When the disciples watched the action in the Temple, they remembered that David had prophesied this about the Messiah, and they rightly connected it with Jesus. But have you ever stopped to see the verse that immediately precedes it in the context? It’s a verse that talks about the rejection of Jesus by both His people the Jews in general, and his brothers and sisters in particular:

“I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.” Psalm 69:8 (KJV)

Well, will you look at that? David records Jesus talking about the two-fold rejection of Jesus by brethren and brothers. One of the arguments presented by the Catholic Church is that if Jesus really did have other brothers and sisters, then why did He have to tell His disciple John to care for Mary? The answer is quite obvious – the all deserted Him in accordance with Old Testament prophecy. Only John, the “disciple that Jesus loved” remained till the bitter and glorious end.

“But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.” Matthew 26:56 (KJV)

Now you can go on believing that Mary remained a “perpetual virgin” if you want to, but you have to do it in spite of clear Bible teaching from both Testaments that Mary had other biological children with Joseph after the birth of Jesus.

‘Pope Francis’ Claims Mary Was ‘Assumed Into Heaven Body and Soul’ on Feast of Assumption

Jorge Bergoglio, also known as “Pope Francis,” asked for Mary to intercede for the oppressed on Monday and claimed to the thousands gathered to observe what is known as the Roman Catholic “Feast of the Assumption” that she had been “assumed into Heaven body and soul.”

“To the Queen of Peace, who we contemplate today in heavenly glory, I wish to entrust once again the anxieties and sufferings of the people who, in many parts of the world, are innocent victims of persistent conflict,” he said.

The Feast of the Assumption marks the Roman Catholic belief that Mary ascended into Heaven and did not suffer a physical death, although as the outlet American Catholic notes, “Scripture does not give an account of Mary’s assumption into heaven.”

The dogma was made an official Catholic doctrine by Pius XII, who wrote in 1950, “We pronounce, declare and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma that the immaculate mother of God, the ever virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.”

Bergoglio echoed this belief on Monday as he read what is known as the Magnificat and led those gathered in a recitation of the Angelus Domini.

“She was the first to believe in the Son of God and is the first to have been assumed into Heaven body and soul,” he said.

Bergoglio stated that Mary was the first to have held the Son of God in her arms “and is the first to have been welcomed by his arms to be introduced into the eternal kingdom of the Father.”

“Mary, a humble and simple girl from a remote village in the outskirts of the empire, because she welcomed and lived the gospel, was permitted by God to stand next to the throne of the Son for all eternity,” Bergoglio stated.

However, Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries in Plano, Texas told Christian News Network that this assertion is unbiblical.

“The dogma that celebrates the assumption of Mary’s body into Heaven is closely tied to another Catholic dogma, which is, the immaculate conception of Mary,” he explained. “In 1854, Pope Pius IX declared Mary was conceived free from original sin and she remained free of every personal sin throughout her entire life (Catechism of the Catholic Church, para 491, 493).”

“After the pronouncement, some Catholics began asking a question that the church could not answer. ‘Since Mary never sinned, and sin is what causes death and the body to decay, where is Mary and what happened to her body?’ Gendron continued. “Thus the heresy that declared Mary’s sinlessness led to another heresy. In 1950, Pope Pius XII declared Mary’s body was miraculously assumed into Heaven.”

He said that Roman Catholics acknowledge that Mary’s ascension is not found in the Scriptures, but is rather only a tradition based on assumption.

“Their only basis for believing Mary’s body was miraculously assumed into Heaven is that their ‘infallible’ Church has declared it,” Gendron stated.

But, “Two thousand years ago the Pharisees nullified the word of God with their ungodly traditions and were soundly rebuked and called hypocrites by the Lord Jesus (Mark 7:6-14). Catholic bishops have made the same fatal error by rejecting and opposing God’s word,” he said.

He noted that the Bible rather states that all have sinned—including Mary, who Catholics declare to be immaculate and therefore received into Heaven bodily.

“In Romans 3:10-12, 23, we read, ‘None is righteous, no, not one…All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one … all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’ Mary is included in the ‘all,’ the ‘none’ and the ‘no one,'” Gendron said. “Instead of celebrating the assumption of Mary, Catholics would be wise to study the Scriptures so they can know the truth, which will set them free from religious bondage and deception (John 8:31-32).”

‘Pope’ Prays in Observance of Catholic Belief Mary Was Conceived Sinless: ‘You Free Us From Stain of Sin’

In one of the feasts and celebrations marked on the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar leading up to Christmas, Catholics around the world observed the Feast of Immaculate Conception on Thursday, a day in which those who follow the religion commemorate their belief that Mary was conceived without sin.

Jorge Bergoglio, also known as Pope Francis, made his fourth visit to the “Column of the Immaculate Conception” in the Piazza di Spagna to pay homage to Mary and to pray that she would give protection and blessings.

“O Mary, our immaculate mother, on your feast day I come to you. And I come not alone. I bring with me all those with whom your Son entrusted me in this city of Rome and in the entire world, that You may bless them and preserve them from harm,” he said, according to a transcription from Vatican Radio.

Bergoglio prayed specifically for those who are lonely, abandoned and unemployed, stating that mankind is in need of her “immaculateness” in reaching out to others.

“We thank you, O mother, because in showing yourself to us you free us of all stain of sin,” he said. “You remind us that what comes first is the grace of God, the love of Jesus Christ who gave his life for us, the strength of the Holy Spirit which renews all things.”

“Let us not give in to discouragement, but that trusting in your constant help, we engage ourselves fully in renewal of self, of this city and of the entire world,” Bergoglio concluded.

As previously reported, Catholics observe the supposed birth date of Mary on Sept. 8, known as the Feast of the Nativity, and also recognize the estimated day that she was conceived on Dec. 8, known as the Feast of Immaculate Conception.

The concept of the immaculate conception was declared by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854, who issued a proclamation ex cathedra claiming that it had been revealed to him by God that Mary was conceived without sin.

“We declare, pronounce and define that the doctrine which holds that the blessed virgin Mary, at the first instant of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace of the Omnipotent God, in virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind, was preserved immaculate from all stain of original sin, has been revealed by God, and therefore should firmly and constantly be believed by all the faithful,” he said.

In 1857, Pius IX also had a statue dedicated in recognition of the doctrine—the very statue before which Bergoglio and all other Roman Catholic leaders have stood annually. The figure, which rests atop the Column of Immaculate Conception, was sculpted by Giuseppe Obici, and shows Mary stomping the head of a serpent.

But some state that the concept of the immaculate conception is unbiblical as it is not found in the Scriptures.

“Not only is Mary’s immaculate conception and her sinlessness not revealed in God’s inspired, infallible Word, it goes directly against the teaching of Scripture,” Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries told Christian News Network. “The Bible clearly states that the sin of Adam was spread to all his descendants, including Mary.”

He pointed to Romans 5:12, which reads, “[A]s by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned,” as well as Romans 3:10 and 23, which teach that “there is none righteous, no, not one,” and that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Gendron also noted that Mary acknowledged her need of the Savior from sin when she said in Luke 1:47, “My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior.”

He said that not only is the doctrine of immaculate conception unbiblical, but Bergoglio’s assertion that Mary “frees us from the stain of sin” is an affront to the gospel.

“He profanely attributed to Mary what Christ alone had accomplished on Calvary’s cross,” Gendron said. “The pope’s prayer robbed Christ of His glorious accomplishment of purifying for Himself a people for His own possession (Titus 2:14). It was Jesus who ‘made purification of sins’ and ‘sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high’ indicating His redemptive work was finished (Heb. 1:3).”

“The pope needs to stop exalting Mary as a sinless mediator and give all glory honor and praise to Jesus because it was His precious blood that purifies His people from ALL sin (1 John 1:7),” he stated.

‘Pope Francis’ Urges: ‘Let Us Entrust the New Year to Mary’

The leader of Roman Catholicism, Jorge Bergoglio, also known as “Pope Francis,” observed the feast of “the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God” on New Year’s Day, urging followers to “entrust the new year to Mary.”

“Let us entrust the new year to Mary, Mother of God, so that peace and mercy may grow throughout the world,” he Tweeted on Sunday, generating over 33,000 likes and 11,000 shares.
The feast “coincides with the octave-day of Christmas” on the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar, and was initially the feast of the Circumcision of Christ until being replaced in 1974 by Pope John VI. The “mother of God” concept, however, can be traced back as early as the Council of Ephesus in 431.

“This celebration, assigned to January 1 in conformity with the ancient liturgy of the city of Rome, is meant to commemorate the part played by Mary in this mystery of salvation,” John XI wrote. “It is meant also to exalt the singular dignity which this mystery brings to the ‘holy mother … through whom we were found worthy … to receive the Author of life.'”

“It is likewise a fitting occasion for renewed adoration of the newborn Prince of Peace, for listening once more to the glad tidings of the angels, and for imploring from God, through the Queen of Peace, the supreme gift of peace,” he said. The day is also known as the “World Day of Peace” for this reason.
In addition to Tweeting in observance of the day on Sunday, Bergoglio also delivered a homily before the masses, outlining why he believes it is important to begin a new year in such a manner.

“To celebrate Mary as mother of God and our mother at the beginning of the new year means recalling a certainty that will accompany our days: we are a people with a mother; we are not orphans,” he said. “To begin the year by recalling God’s goodness in the maternal face of Mary, in the maternal face of the Church, in the faces of our own mothers, protects us from the corrosive disease of being ‘spiritual orphans.'”

Bergoglio asserted that Jesus gave Mary to the Church when he died upon the cross, and the Church should therefore invite her into their homes and communities, and “meet her maternal gaze.”

“Together let us all confess this truth,” he instructed, as all stood to their feet. “I invite you to acclaim it three times, standing, like the faithful of Ephesus: Holy Mother of God, Holy Mother of God, Holy Mother of God.”

Bergoglio has made similar declarations throughout his tenure, urging others each Jan. 1 to entrust the year to Mary.

But Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries in Plano, Texas, told Christian News Network that such practices are unbiblical and elevate Mary to a position not called for in the Word of God. Gendron is a former Roman Catholic of over 30 years.

“Pope Francis has elevated the ungodly traditions of Mary above Scripture. In doing so, he is doing the same thing the scribes and Pharisees did when they were rebuked by the Lord Jesus. Jesus told them that they were nullifying the Word of God and thus worshipping God in vain (Mark 7:7-13),” he said.

Gendron noted that the feast of “Mary, the Mother of God” is one among several on the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar.

“The four dogmas of Mary’s perpetual virginity, her motherhood of God, her immaculate conception and her bodily assumption into heaven, form the basis of Mariology,” he outlined. “The development of Mariology is ongoing and continues to be shaped by the writings of Catholic mystics, papal statements and apparitions of Mary. Catholics are encouraged to venerate Mary and entrust their lives to her as their advocate and mediatrix of all graces.”

“Since veneration is a form of worship, Catholics who venerate Mary are committing the most serious sin of idolatry. Just as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, Catholics are being led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ (2 Cor. 11:3),” Gendron continued. “Catholics will continue to be led astray into idolatry until they submit to the Word of God as their supreme authority in all matters of faith. “

Ive been seeing this ad pop up quite a bit now

New Name for Mary?
http://www.onenewspage.us/video/20170131/6705674/New-Name-for-Mary.htm

Video is at above site. It is pushing to officially make Mary  “Co-redemptrix with Jesus the Redeemer”

http://internationalmarian.com/sites/marian/files/uploads/documents/press_release_1.pdf

PRESS RELEASE: On January 1, 2017, the Theological Commission of the International Marian
Association, an association of more than 100 theologians, bishops, priests, religious, and lay leaders from
over 20 countries dedicated to the full truth and love of Mary, Mother of Jesus, has released a 10-page
document entitled, The Role of Mary in Redemption: A Document of the Theological Commission of
the International Marian Association. This document respectfully requests that Pope Francis publicly
acknowledge and honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as the “Co-redemptrix with Jesus the Redeemer”
during the 2017 centenary anniversary of the Marian Apparitions at Fatima, Portugal.

A summary of the major points of the document produced by the 33 member Theological Commission is
as follows:

1. Mary’s free consent to bring Jesus the Redeemer into the world (Lk. 1:38) began her unique
participation with and under Jesus, in the mission of human Redemption.

2. Mary’s unique participation with Jesus in the work of Redemption is entirely dependent upon his
infinite merits as the only divine Redeemer. Her sharing in the redemptive work of Jesus in no
way obscures or diminishes his redemptive victory, but rather manifests its power and
fruitfulness.

3. Mary’s participation in the Redemption is foreshadowed in the “woman” of Genesis 3:15 and her
“seed” of victory, who will be victorious over Satan and his seed of sin and death. Mary’s
Immaculate Conception prepares her to be the perfect human partner with Jesus the Redeemer.

4. Mary’s ongoing mission with her redeeming Son is given testimony at the Presentation (cf. Luke
2:35) and culminates at Calvary (cf. Jn. 19:25-27) where Mary shares in the intensity of Jesus’
suffering in her heart and consents to the “immolation of the victim born of her” (cf. Second
Vatican Council, Lumen Gentium, n. 58, 61).

5. The development of the doctrine of Mary’s Coredemption with Jesus within Tradition begins
with the early Church concept of the “New Eve”; Mary’s united suffering with Jesus at Calvary
and the “Redemptrix” title (10th century); Mary’s compassion and being “co-crucified” with Jesus
(12th century); the “Co-redemptrix” title (15th century); the “golden age” of Co-redemptrix (17th
century), leading to its 19th century official teaching by the papal Magisterium and the repeated
use of the Co-redemptrix title by Pope Pius XI and Pope St. John Paul II.

6. The Latin prefix “co” signifies “with” and not equal. The Co-redemptrix title never places Mary
on a level of equality with Jesus Christ, the only divine Redeemer, as to do so would constitute
both heresy and blasphemy. The Co-redemptrix title is meaningless without Jesus the Redeemer,
and in itself focuses upon the Cross of Jesus Christ. Mary Co-redemptrix proclaims to the world
that suffering is redemptive when united to the sufferings of Christ.

7. The year 2017 commemorates the centenary anniversary of the historic apparitions of Our Lady
of the Rosary at Fatima, which in itself constitutes a powerful manifestation of Our Lady’s
Coredemption in action…

The document concludes: We, as members of the Theological Commission of the International
Marian Association, and in full obedience and fidelity to His Holiness, Pope Francis, therefore
humbly request that during this 2017 Fatima centenary, and in continuity with the papal
precedents of Pope Pius XI and Pope St. John Paul II, Pope Francis would kindly grant public
recognition and honor to the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary as “Co-redemptrix with Jesus the
Redeemer.” We believe that a public acknowledgement of Mary’s true and continuous role with
Jesus in the saving work of Redemption would justly celebrate the role of humanity in God's
saving plan; foster greater devotion to the Mother of God; and lead to the release of historic
graces through an even more powerful exercise of Our Lady’s maternal roles of intercession for
the Church and for all humanity today.

Roman Catholic Group Requests ‘Pope Francis’ Refer to Mary as ‘Co-Redemptrix With Jesus’

The International Marian Association has requested that the leader of Roman Catholicism, Jorge Bergoglio, also known as Pope Francis, refer to Mary as “co-redemptrix with Jesus the redeemer” during the 100th year anniversary of the purported apparitions of Mary in Fatima, Portugal.

The Theological Commission of the Marian Association, which is comprised of 30 supportive entities, including Vatican Secretariat of State Florian Kolfhaus, Andrew Apostoli of the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), Elias Mary of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Sanctuary in Wisconsin, and Michael O’Neill and Christopher Padgett of the Mariological Society of America, recently released a 10-page document outlining why Mary is deserving of the title.

It states that Mary passed on her sinless nature—given to her by God at conception—to Jesus, that He might redeem the world from sin. Through her willing human participation in the Father’s divine means of saving wicked men, the Commission contends, she is the “New Eve” just as Jesus is the “New Adam.”

“Mary, the ‘full of grace’ (Lk. 1:28) was providentially prepared by the Father through her Immaculate Conception to participate with the Son in the crushing of the head of Satan and redeeming humanity from sin, and to pass on to her divine Son an immaculate human nature like her own in order to accomplish the mission of redemption,” the document asserts.

“Within the rich tradition of the Church the patristic concept of Mary as the ‘New Eve’ who uniquely worked with Jesus, the ‘New Adam,’ to restore the life of grace to the human family contains within itself the doctrine of Mary’s unique participation with Jesus in the redemption,” it states. “Declared ‘Mother of the Church’ by Pope Bl. Paul VI, Mary ‘cooperated in initiating God’s kingdom’ and thus manifested her motherly co-redemption for the Church.”

The Commission clarifies, however, that the title of co-redemptrix does not set Mary as equal with Christ, as it believes such a concept would be heresy.

“The philosophical and theological meaning of ‘participation’ includes the understanding of an inferior being ‘taking part in’ (partem capere) the perfections or qualities of a superior being,” it outlines. “Thus, Mary’s participation in the redemption of Christ in no way diminishes His perfect divine redemption, but rather in a human feminine and maternal expression, partakes in its divine power and efficacy.”

The Marian Association therefore requests that “Pope Francis would kindly grant public recognition and honor to the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary as ‘co-redemptrix with Jesus the redeemer'” during the Fatima observance in May. It says that the recognition would provide a means for humanity to consider how God used men as a vessel as He carried out His purposes in the plan of salvation.

“We believe that a public acknowledgement of Mary’s true and continuous role with Jesus in the saving work of redemption would justly celebrate the role of humanity in God’s saving plan; foster greater devotion to the mother of God; and lead to the release of historic graces through an even more powerful exercise of our lady’s maternal roles of intercession for the Church and for all humanity today,” it writes.

While the Association says that title would point the eyes of the people to the cross of Christ, some beg to differ. Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries in Plano, Texas told Christian News Network that the Roman Catholic religion often attributes many of Christ’s characteristics to Mary.

“They teach that both were conceived without sin and lived sinless lives, and both are our advocates. They proclaim that Jesus is the source of grace, Mary is the channel of all grace; Jesus is the Mediator, Mary is the Mediatrix; Jesus ascended into glory, Mary’s body was assumed into glory; Jesus is the King of Heaven, Mary is the Queen of Heaven; Jesus is the Prince of peace, and Mary is the Queen of peace,” he explained.

Gendron said that these doctrines are unbiblical. Further considering Mary now as co-redemptrix, he opined, rather takes God’s rightful glory and gives part of it to man.

“Nowhere in Scripture is Mary referred to as co-redeemer or co-mediatrix,” he declared. “It was the Lord Jesus, not Mary, who gave His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). It was Jesus, not Mary, who redeemed those who were once slaves to sin and purchased their freedom so that they are no longer in bondage to sin. Jesus gave Himself to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own (Titus 2:14).”

“For anyone to refer to Mary as co-redemptrix not only violates the truth of God’s Word, it also dishonors the Lord Jesus Christ and robs Him of the glory, honor and praise that He alone deserves,” Gendron stated.

Pope John Paul II referred to Mary as co-redemptrix on several occasions, but some worried that it would impede the ecumenical unity that Catholics were seeking with Christians.

“There is great spiritual danger for Catholics when they look to Mary and not Jesus,” Gendron said. “Paul warned, ‘But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3).’ I pray that Catholics will heed the exhortation from the book of Hebrews: ‘Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).'”

Pope Francis: The Virgin Mary Was No ‘Couch Potato’

The Vatican released the video message on Tuesday in preparation for the next World Youth Day, to be held in Panama in 2019.

The Virgin Mary, Francis said, “encourages us with her faith,” when she acknowledged that the “Mighty One has done great things for me.” She also “knew how to give thanks to God who looked upon her littleness,” he said, and “recognised the great things that God was accomplishing in her life.”

Importantly, the Pope noted, Mary did not sit by idly but “set off to visit her cousin Elizabeth who was old and needed her to be close by.”

“Mary did not stay at home because she was not a young couch potato who looks for comfort and safety where nobody can bother them,” Francis said. “She was moved by faith because faith is at the heart of Our Mother’s entire life story.”

In his message, the Pope told young people that God is watching over and calling them, looking at all the love they are able to offer.

“Like the young woman of Nazareth,” he said, “you can improve the world and leave an imprint that makes a mark on history—your history and that of many others.”

“The Church and society need you,” he added. “With your plans and with your courage, with your dreams and ideals, walls of stagnation fall and roads open up that lead us to a better, fairer, less cruel and more humane world.”

The Pope also encouraged young people to cultivate a relationship of familiarity and friendship with Mary as “our Mother,” urging them to speak to her “as you would to a Mother.”

“Together with her,” he said, “give thanks for the precious gift of faith that you have received from your elders, and entrust your whole life to her. She is a good Mother who listens to you and embraces you, who loves you and walks together with you.”

“I assure you that if you do that, you will not regret it,” he said.

Pope Francis In Chile Placed Crown On Statue Of The 'Virgin Mary' And Declared Her Queen Of The Universe •

The coronation took place during mass at O’Higgins Park in Santiago, where the tens of thousands in attendance watched Pope Francis place a crown on the head of the Christ child, and then also on the head of Mary.

“The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.” Jeremiah 7:18 (KJV)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Section 966 of the official Catechism Of The Catholic Church states “the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix”. But the Bible says that Jesus alone is our Advocate with the Father. It furthermore goes on to say that Mary is a co-redeemer in that the “union of the mother with the Son in the work of salvation is made manifest”. The Bible says that Jesus alone paid for our sins, with no earthly help from anyone. So when Pope Francis was in Chile earlier this year, placing a crown on a statue of Mary and declaring her to be queen, he was simply reaffirming that Catholics worship this fictional Mary who exists nowhere within the pages of the Bible. This is nothing more than pagan idol worship of another human being, making a statue and bowing down before it. This is not Christianity, and this is not biblical. No one in the Bible ever asked Mary for her advice, not one time is recorded of anyone asking for her prayers, and on the day of Pentecost she is a silent observer, saying and doing nothing at the birth of the Church. And yet somehow, the Catholic harlot has promoted her to the 4th part of the Trinity and a co-redeemer  with God in our salvation. Anything to get and keep your eyes off of Jesus, anything at all.

In Chile, the statue is known as “Our Lady of Mount Carmel,” who is also known by Roman Catholics in the country as the patron saint and “queen” of Chile.

“The virgin who wanted to be called Your handmaid was chosen mother of the Redeemer, and true mother of all the living, and now exalted above the choirs of the angels, reigns gloriously with Your Son interceding for all men as an advocate of grace and queen of mercy,” he prayed during mass, moments before crowning the statue.

“Lord, look kindly upon these your servants, who by adorning with a visible crown the image of the mother of Your Son, recognize Your Son as King of the universe and invoke the virgin as queen,” Pope Francis said.

He “blessed” the crowns and was escorted to place them on the heads of the images. Francis then stood before the statue, swinging a smoking censer of incense.

“I pray that Our Lady of Mount Carmel, mother and queen of Chile, will continue to accompany and bring to birth the dreams of this blessed nation,” Bergoglio said in a speech to Chilean authorities on the same day.

The Roman Catholic leader also spoke to Chilean youth on Wednesday at the Basilica of Our Lady of Carmel in Maipú, where he told those gathered that the “Our Lady of Carmel waits for you and welcomes you with an open heart.”

'Pope Francis' Decrees New Feast Day on Liturgical Calendar for Mary, 'Mother of the Church'

Roman Catholic leader Jorge Bergoglio, also known as “Pope Francis,” has decreed that a new feast day be added to the liturgical calendar to honor Mary, called “Mother of the Church.” The announcement has been deemed unbiblical as the Catholic Church continues to place inordinate emphasis on Mary.

The Vatican announced the decree on Saturday, noting that the new Roman Catholic holiday will be observed every year on the Monday after Pentecost. This year, the occasion will fall on May 21.

“Having attentively considered how greatly the promotion of this devotion might encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the Church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety, Pope Francis has decreed that the memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, should be inscribed in the Roman Calendar on the Monday after Pentecost and be now celebrated every year,” reads the decree, signed by Robert Sarah, prefect, and Arthur Roche, archbishop.

“This celebration will help us to remember that growth in the Christian life must be anchored to the mystery of the cross, to the oblation of Christ in the eucharistic banquet and to the mother of the Redeemer and mother of the redeemed, the virgin who makes her offering to God,” it states.

The decree outlines that historic Roman Catholic figures—from Augustine to Paul VI—have endowed Mary with various titles, and claims that as Jesus asked his disciple, John, to look after His earthly mother in His physical absence, it signified that Mary was to be a subject of affection for all of Christ’s followers.

“Indeed, the mother standing beneath the cross (Jn. 19:25), accepted her Son’s testament of love and welcomed all people in the person of the beloved disciple as sons and daughters to be reborn unto life eternal. She thus became the tender mother of the Church which Christ begot on the cross handing on the Spirit,” the decree asserts. “Christ, in turn, in the beloved disciple, chose all disciples as ministers of his love towards His mother, entrusting her to them so that they might welcome her with filial affection.”

“Mary is the mother of the members of Christ, because with charity she cooperated in the rebirth of the faithful into the Church, while the latter says that the birth of the Head is also the birth of the body, thus indicating that Mary is at once mother of Christ, the Son of God, and mother of the members of his Mystical Body, which is the Church,” it states. “These considerations derive from the divine motherhood of Mary and from her intimate union in the work of the Redeemer, which culminated at the hour of the cross.”

Read the decree in full here. http://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2018-03/pope-institutes-new-celebration-of-mary--mother-of-church.html

The Roman Catholic Church already has a number of feast days dedicated to Mary, including the Feast of Immaculate Conception—in observance of the Catholic belief that Mary was conceived without sin, and the Feast of Assumption—in observance of the belief that Mary did not die but ascended to Heaven like Jesus.

However, some believe that these holidays not only place inordinate emphasis on Mary, but are also unbiblical. Mike Gendron of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries told Christian News Network that the Roman Catholic Church has essentially given Mary “goddess” status as she has been ascribed attributes that only belong to the divine.

“The Catholic Church has elevated Mary, a self-described servant of the Lord, to an omniscient goddess with divine attributes (Luke 1:38). She is said to be all-knowing, all seeing, and all powerful,” he explained. “Mary becomes a counterfeit savior: born sinless, without the stain of original sin, and living a sinless life. She becomes co-redeemer, provider of salvation, dispenser of forgiveness, and source of all grace. She is called the all-holy one, clearly a title belonging only to God.”

“This blasphemy stands in sharp contrast to what Scripture actually says and does not say about Mary,” Gendron continued. “When Jesus said, ‘I will build My Church,’ he never said Mary would be the mother of His Church. The one true Church has only one Head, one Shepherd and one Builder: the Lord Jesus Christ. The true Church is the body of Christ, the bride; the flock of Christ and the household of faith. Scripture never speaks of Mary having a leadership role or as a mother over the church.”

Gendron, who was a former Roman Catholic for over 30 years and now leads a ministry to speak truth to Catholics, said that the Scriptures do not provide a single instance of the disciples elevating or venerating Mary following the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ.

“In fact, the Bible says nothing about Mary’s life or her later years after Christ’s death,” he outlined. “When she briefly appears with the disciples and the other believers on the day of Pentecost, she’s not an object of worship or even a leader in the early church. She is just one among many. There simply are no biblical examples of anyone ever praying to her, honoring her or venerating her.”

“If you contrast that with the overwhelming number of books on the life of Mary, the miracles of Mary and the apparitions of Mary, it is obvious that a pagan goddess has been created in the minds of popes,” he added. “Only the name ‘Mary’ has been stolen from Christianity.”

Gendron said that “Jesus alone is the head of the Church and He alone is to be worshiped, venerated, adored and petitioned.”

Rome's Mary on the Cross and on God's Throne
June 12, 2019 (first published November 15, 2007)

For photos of Mary on God’s throne, Mary the Queen of Peace, Mary hanging on the cross, Mary adored by the apostles, and Mary on the ark of the covenant see the following:

In spite of claims of contemporary Catholic propagandists, the Roman Catholic Church worships Mary. They use the term “venerate,” but it is the same thing.

According to Rome, she was immaculately (sinlessly) conceived, participated in Christ’s suffering for mankind, ascended bodily to Heaven, was crowned Queen of the universe, and intercedes for sinners.

During a radio message concluding the Jubilee of the Redemption, April 28, 1935, Pope Pius XI gave the Catholic Mary the title Co-redemptrix. At least five times Pope Paul II referred to her by this title in his papal statements. In his general audience in 1997, he said that Mary “collaborated in obtaining the grace of salvation for all humanity” (Vatican Information Service, April 9, 1997). This pope dedicated himself and the whole world to Mary.

The influential book The Glories of Mary by Alphonsus Mary de Liguori, a Catholic saint, calls Mary our Life, our Help, our Advocate, our Guardian, our Mediatress, our Salvation, and the Hope of Sinners. Chapter 5 says “Mary’s intercession is necessary for our salvation.” This book was tested 20 times by the rules of Pope Urban VIII and Pope Benedict XIV and was said to contain not “one word worthy of censure.” It was pronounced to be without error by Pope Pius VII and by Pope Leo XII. Pope John Paul II acknowledged Liguori’s influence in his own idolatrous affection for Mary. Liguori’s book continues to be published today with the imprimatur [Latin meaning “let it be printed”] of various Catholic authorities.

MARY ON THE CROSS

In the Church of the Mother of God of Polish Martyrs in Warsaw, Poland, Mary is depicted hanging on the cross holding the child Jesus.

Outside of the main Mary basilica in Rome (Santa Maria Maggiore) there is a large crucifix with Jesus hanging on one side and a crowned Mary hanging on the other.

This statue depicts Rome’s dogma that Mary is the co-redemptress with Christ and that she intercedes for men from Heaven and aids in their salvation.

Note the following quotations from the Vatican II Council:

“As St. Irenaeus says, she being obedient, became the cause of salvation for herself and for the whole human race. Hence not a few of the early Fathers gladly assert with him in their preaching ... ‘death through Eve, LIFE THROUGH MARY.’ This UNION OF THE MOTHER WITH THE SON IN THE WORK OF SALVATION is made manifest from the time of Christ’s virginal conception up to his death” (Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, chap. 8, II, 56, pp. 380-381).

“Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but BY HER MANIFOLD INTERCESSION CONTINUES TO BRING US THE GIFTS OF ETERNAL SALVATION. By her maternal charity, she cares for the brethren of her Son, who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and difficulties, until they are led into their blessed home. Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of ADVOCATE, HELPER, BENEFACTRESS, and MEDIATRIX” (Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, chap. 8, II, 62, pp. 382-383).

A plaque in the Chapel of the Virgin of the Grace at Saints Vincent and Anastasius Church in Rome says, “Cardinal Benedetto Odescalchi, who became the pope with the name of Innocent XI, initiated THE WORSHIP OF THE IMAGE, placed on the altar in 1677, and wanted his heart to be buried here, not in the main chapel.”

This is only one example of many that could be given of the term “worship” used in regard to Mary in Rome’s churches.

MARY ADORED BY THE APOSTLES

In the Church of the Mother of God of Polish Martyrs in Warsaw, Poland, Mary is also surrounded by the 12 apostles who are adoring her rather than Jesus Christ.

MARY ON THE ARK OF THE COVENANT

The Saint Stanislaus Kostka Catholic church in Chicago features an image of Mary on the very Ark of God. She is sitting above the Ark in the place that was occupied by God’s presence in the Tabernacle, and she is surrounded by adoring cherubim. This blasphemous image occupies the central altar where Mass is performed. The church’s official literature says that the image depicts the Catholic doctrines that Mary was immaculately conceived and sinless, that she participated in Christ’s suffering for mankind, and that she was bodily assumed into glory and crowned Queen of Heaven. The icon depicting Mary as the Ark of Mercy was dedicated in May 2008. Since then the church has been open 24 hours a day as an invitation for “pilgrims from all around the world to immerse themselves in the spring of grace, mercy, and power” that is supposedly flowing from the image.

This is pure blasphemy. The Ark of the Covenant was located in the Holy of Holies in the Old Testament tabernacle and was the place where God’s presence dwelt (Exodus 25:22). Angels do not worship creatures (Acts 14:11-15; Rev. 19:10).

Roman Catholic churches are filled with idols. Mary is reverenced with far greater fervency than Jesus. Every “evangelical” or “Baptist” or “Protestant” who has said positive things about Rome and who has participated in ecumenical relations with Rome or who has failed even to lift his voice against Rome’s gross heresies will answer to God for the refusal to “earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints” (Jude 3) and for keeping silence in the face of evil.

MARY QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE

The Roman Catholic Basilica of Mary, Queen of the Universe is located in Orlando, Florida, near Disney World. The basilica’s official brochure says it “emphasizes devotion to the Mother of God as one of the God-given gifts enabling us to reach that salvation for which Christ gave us His life on the cross.” Thus, according to this Catholic document Mary plays a role in salvation, which is a blasphemous lie. That Rome’s Mary is worshipped as queen of heaven is clear evidence that she is a Christianized pagan idol, for the only queen of heaven mentioned in the Bible is a goddess that the Jews were worshipping at the time of the destruction of the First Temple (Jeremiah 7:18; 44:17-25). The ancient mother-goddess worship, which began at Babel and spread throughout the world, was baptized by the Roman Catholic Church as the Madonna-Child.

Pope Francis In Rome On Thursday Blasphemously Declared That Mary Is The ‘Gate Of Heaven’ Even Though The Bible Declares That Only Jesus Christ Is

“Let us look on high,” he said, where Mary awaits. “She loves us, she smiles at us and she comes to our aid with haste.”

Just when I think that Pope Francis cannot possible double-down any further on his blasphemous worship of Mary, he goes and show me just how serious he is about idol worship. During the Roman Catholic Feast of the Assumption on Thursday, he confidently declared that the door, or the gate, to getting into Heaven is not Jesus Christ, but Mary.

“Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:7-10 (KJV)

For all you Roman Catholics out there, read the scripture from John 10 that you see above, that tells you who the gate to Heaven is. You will not find one verse in the entire Bible that tells you that Mary is the pathway to anything. You will also not find a single verse in the Bible that says Mary was “assumed up into Heaven” either, why? Because she did no such thing. I can guarantee you that if you are trusting in Mary to get you to Heaven, you will wind up in Hell instead.

“And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.” Luke 1:46,47 (KJV)

Mary has no such power to lead anyone to Heaven or to save a single soul. She hears no prayers and gives no comfort or direction. She was a human being just like you, trusting in her is idol worship. Read your Catholic history and you will find that the ‘infallible doctrine’ of worshipping Mary was created by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854. Only Jesus Christ can save you, because only He paid for your sins. And guess what? He paid for Mary’s sins as well. She need a Saviour just like everyone else, just like she said in Luke 1. Why don’t you believe her?
Pope at Angelus on feast of the Assumption: Mary is the “Gate of Heaven”

FROM CRUXNOW: Mary’s assumption into heaven calls people to put aside all those insignificant, mundane and petty concerns competing for their attention and instead be drawn to God and his greatness, Pope Francis said.

After reciting the Angelus prayer on the feast of the Assumption Aug. 15, Francis also blessed thousands of rosaries that will be given to Catholics in Syria “as a sign of my closeness, especially for families who have lost someone because of the war.”

“Mary, who is a human creature, one of us, reaches eternity in body and soul”, said Pope Francis. This is why we invoke her as the “Gate of Heaven”. “There she awaits us, just as a mother waits for her children to come home”. The Pope said we are like pilgrims on our way home to Heaven. Seeing that “in paradise, together with Christ, the New Adam, there is also her, Mary, the new Eve, gives us comfort and hope in our pilgrimage down here”. source

“Prayers made with faith are powerful. Let us keep praying for peace in the Middle East and the whole world,” said the pope, who explained that Aid to the Church in Need spearheaded the initiative to send some 6,000 rosaries to Catholic communities in Syria.

With the assumption of Mary, body and soul, into heaven, she is “like a mother who waits for her children to come back home.” Knowing that she is there with God in heaven “gives us comfort and hope during our pilgrimage” on earth, he said.

The feast of the Assumption of Mary is an invitation to everyone, “especially for those who are afflicted by doubt and sadness, and live gazing downward,” he said.

“Let us look on high,” he said, where Mary awaits. “She loves us, she smiles at us and she comes to our aid with haste.” READ MORE

Idol Worshipping Pope Francis Gives Three More Titles To The 'Virgin Mary', Of Course They Were Stolen From God Just Like The Name 'Holy Father' Was • Now The End Begins
by Geoffrey Grider

First let me say that the Roman Catholic ‘virgin Mary’ is not the humble and obedient Mary from the bible, not by a long shot. The Roman Catholic ‘mary’ is a ‘Queen of Heaven’ superwoman who is literally divine, and appears to have taken over much of the workload from her overburdened Son Jesus.  According to the Litany of Loreto, the Roman Catholic ‘mary’ is most renowned, the counselor, cause of all joy, without sin, queen of peace, and the comforter. And today, Pope Francis gave her three more titles as well – Mother of Mercy, Mother of Hope and Comfort of Immigrants. If most of these names and titles seems familiar to you, that’s because they are names and attributes of God in the bible.

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 (KJB)

The real virgin Mary was not sinless, she was an obedient young woman who was visited by an angel, and was told God had selected her for a very special task, which she did beautifully. But Mary needed a Saviour just like every other sinner does, Mary performed no miracles, counseled no one, and performed no known function in the Church when it began. She was present in the upper room in Acts 2, but not in a seat of honor and she makes no remarks of any kind. Mary didn’t stay a virgin, giving birth to all these:

“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” Mark 6:3 (KJB)

So why does the Roman Catholic Church attribute all these miracles to her, and give her all these titles stolen from Jesus and the Holy Spirit? To get your focus off of the redemptive work of Jesus that can save you, and get you busy ‘venerating mary’ which has no saving power of any kind. The Roman Catholic Church is Satan’s masterpiece, the Catholic counterfeit, and it will damn your soul to an everlasting Hell. If you are counting on the ‘intercession of mary’ to get you to Heaven, you are already lost. Click here to see the bible’s path to the Throne of God.

POPE FRANCIS DECLARES THAT MAY IS THE ‘MONTH OF MARY’, COMMANDS ALL CATHOLICS EVERYWHERE TO ‘ENTRUST THEMSELVES’ TO HER FOR PROTECTION

THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH CALLS IT VENERATION, BUT THE BIBLE CALLS IT IDOL WORSHIP
Pope Francis adds ‘Mother Of Mercy’ to Virgin Mary

FROM CRUX NOW: The new titles are “Mother of Mercy,” “Mother of Hope,” and “Comfort of Migrants.” In letter dated June 20, Guinean Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, announced the titles would be added to the Litany of Mary, called the “Litany of Loreto,” which is usually recited during the rosary or on major Catholic feasts.

Addressed to the presidents of all bishops’ conferences worldwide, the letter said the move comes at the express wish of Pope Francis.

The first new title is to be placed after “Mother of the Church,” the second after “Mother of Divine Grace,” while the third will go after Mary’s designation as “Refuge of Sinners.”

In the letter, Sarah said “the Church which walks along the pathways of history as a pilgrim towards the heavenly Jerusalem and enjoys inseparable communion with Christ her Spouse and Savior, entrusts herself to her who believed in the word of the Lord.”

“We know from the Gospel that the disciples of Jesus had in fact learned from the very beginning to praise her as ‘blessed amongst women’ and to count on her maternal intercession,” he said, insisting that the numerous titles given to Mary throughout history are a “privileged and sure way to an encounter with Christ.”

Pope Francis has often emphasized the topic of mercy in the Church, most prominently through his 2015-2016 Jubilee of Mercy, and his own episcopal motto, Miserando atque eligendo, or, “choosing with mercy.”

He has also been a champion of migrants and refugees since his election in 2013, making frequent appeals on their behalf in his public audiences, and in his meetings with diplomats and heads of state. His first trip outside of Rome as pope was to the visit the Italian island of Lampedusa in 2013, where he met migrants detained at a large camp who had fled poverty and war in the Middle East and Africa.

In September 2019, he added a sculpture depicting a boat full of migrants to St. Peter’s Square. Marking the first new sculpture installed in square in over 400 years, it’s called, “Angels Unaware,” and depicts 140 migrants and refugees from different cultures and periods of history, including indigenous people, Jews escaping Nazi Germany, and Syrian and African refugees fleeing war and famine in modern times. ‘Pope Francis’ Claims: ‘For the Entire Course of Her Life, Mary Was Free From Any Stain of Sin’

In one of the feasts and celebrations marked on the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar leading up to Christmas, Catholics around the world observed the Feast of Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, a day in which those who follow the religion commemorate their belief that Mary was conceived in her mother’s womb without original sin. The doctrine has been deemed unbiblical and rejected by evangelicals.

“Even she (Mary) was saved by Christ, but in an extraordinary way,” Jorge Bergoglio, the leader of Roman Catholicism known as “Pope Francis,” stated during his Angelus address over St. Peter’s Square, “because God wanted that the mother of His Son not be touched by the misery of sin from the moment of her conception.”

“And so, for the entire course of her earthly life, Mary was free from any stain of sin,” he claimed. “She was the [one] ‘full of grace’ as the angel called her.”

Bergoglio made his customary visit to the Piazza di Spagna in Rome to pray to Mary before a sculpture that was commissioned in 1857 by Pius IX. The figure, which rests atop the lofty Column of Immaculate Conception, was created by Giuseppe Obici, and shows Mary stomping the head of a serpent.

“With the first light of dawn, under the rain, Pope Francis placed a bouquet of roses at the base of the column where the statue of the Madonna is, and turned to her in prayer, so that she might lovingly watch over Rome and its inhabitants, entrusting to her all in the city and the world who are afflicted by illness and discouragement,” according to a statement from the Holy See Press Office.

He also visited the Basilica of St. Mary Major, where he prayed before the Maria Salus Popoli Romani, which being translated means “Mary, Health/Protection of the Roman People.”

The oil-based painting depicts Mary holding the Christ child and has been visited by Vatican leadership for centuries, being carried throughout Rome in 593 to pray for the end of the Black Plague. Gregory XVI prayed before it in seeking help in the midst of the cholera outbreak of 1837.

Bergoglio then observed mass in the basilica’s Chapel of Nativity before returning back to the Vatican.

As previously reported, the concept of the immaculate conception was declared by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854, who issued a proclamation ex cathedra claiming that it had been revealed to him by God that Mary was conceived without sin.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church reads in paragraph 491, “Through the centuries, the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, ‘full of grace’ through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854.”

Paragraph 493 states, “The Fathers of the Eastern tradition call the Mother of God ‘the All-Holy’ (Panagia) and celebrate her as ‘free from any stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature.’ By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long.”

Bergoglio mirrored this doctrine on Tuesday, telling hearers that just as Mary was sinless, so shall they too be when their salvation is complete.

“What Mary had from the beginning, will be ours in the end,” he stated, “after we have passed through the purifying ‘bath’ of God’s grace.”

“The uncontaminated beauty of our mother is incomparable, but at the same time, it attracts us,” Bergoglio said. “Let us entrust ourselves to her and say ‘no’ to sin and ‘yes’ to grace once and for all.”

As previously reported, Catholics also believe that Mary did not die but, like Jesus, ascended into Heaven. The concept is not found in the Scriptures but was decreed by Pope Pius XII in 1950 as he wrote, “We pronounce, declare and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma that the immaculate mother of God, the ever virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.”

However, evangelicals feel that Catholics place an inordinate amount of focus on Mary and unbiblically ascribe attributes to her that belong to the Godhead alone, such as her all-seeing eye (omniscience), her ability to hear prayers from around the world (omnipresence), and her power to care for and protect those who entrust their very lives to her, even by intercession (omnipotence).

In Luke 1:47, Mary referred to the Almighty as her Savior, declaring, “My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior, for he hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden. For, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.”

GotQuestions.org outlines, “The Bible nowhere describes Mary as anything but an ordinary human female whom God chose to be the mother of the Lord Jesus Christ. Mary was undoubtedly a godly woman (Luke 1:28). Mary was surely a wonderful wife and mother. Jesus definitely loved and cherished His mother (John 19:27).”

“But the Bible gives us no reason to believe that Mary was sinless. In fact, the Bible gives us every reason to believe that Jesus Christ is the only Person who was not ‘infected’ by sin and never committed a sin (see Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5).”

Vatican Betrays Virgin Mary for Prophet Muhammad
Raymond Ibrahim
6-7 minutes

The same folks to bring you “Abrahamism”—the idea that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are intricately connected—have narrowed their sights on promoting Mary, the mother of Christ, as “a Jewish, Christian and Muslim woman,” in the words of Catholic priest Fr. Gian Matteo of the Pontifical International Marian Academy. In a ten-week webinar series titled “Mary, a model for faith and life for Christianity and Islam,” the academy will seek to present Mary as a bridge between the two religions.

This may be easier said than done — at least for those still interested in facts.  For starters, the claim that Mary was a “Jewish, Christian and Muslim woman” is only two-thirds true: yes, she was a Jew by race and background; and yes, she was a Christian in that she literally birthed Christ(ianity); but she was most certainly not a Muslim — a term and religion that came into being 600 years after Mary died.

Worse, far from being the Eternal Virgin, as she is for 1.5 billion Christians of the Catholic and Orthodox variety, Islam presents Mary, the Mother of Christ, as “married” to and “copulating” with Muhammad in paradise — a depiction that would seem to sever rather than build “bridges.”

In a hadith that was deemed reliable enough to be included in the renowned Ibn Kathir’s corpus, Muhammad declared that “Allah will wed me in paradise to Mary, Daughter of Imran,” whom Muslims identify with Jesus’s mother.  (Note: The Arabic word for “marriage” (نكاح, or nikah, denotes “legal sexual relations,” connotes the “F” word, and is wholly devoid of Western, “romantic,” or Platonic connotations.)

Nor is this just some random, obscure hadith.  None other than Dr. Salem Abdul Galil — previously deputy minister of Egypt’s religious endowments for preaching — affirmed its canonicity in 2017 during a live televised Arabic-language program.  Among other biblical women (Moses’s sister and Pharaoh’s wife), “our prophet Muhammad — prayers and be upon him — will be married to Mary in paradise,” Galil said.

If few Christians today know about this Islamic claim, medieval Christians living in Muslim-occupied nations were certainly aware of it. There, Muslims regularly threw this fantasy in the face of Catholic and Orthodox Christians who venerated Mary as the “Eternal Virgin.” Thus, Eulogius of Cordoba, an indigenous Christian of Muslim-occupied Spain, once wrote, “I will not repeat the sacrilege which that impure dog [Muhammad] dared proffer about the Blessed Virgin, Queen of the World, holy mother of our venerable Lord and Savior. He claimed that in the next world he would deflower her.”

As usual, it was Eulogius’s offensive words about Muhammad — and not the latter’s offensive words about Mary and any number of other things — that had dire consequences: He, as well as many other Spanish Christians vociferously critical of Muhammad, were found guilty of speaking against Islam and publicly tortured and executed in “Golden Age” Cordoba in 859.

One expects that all of these “inconvenient” facts will be quietly passed over during the Pontifical International Marian Academy’s webinars.  And if they are raised, no doubt Christians will somehow take the blame, as almost always happens in academic settings.  As one example, after quoting Eulogius’s aforementioned lament against Muhammad’s claim of being married to Mary, John V. Tolan, a professor and member of Academia Europaea, denounced it as an “outrageous claim” of Eulogius’s own “invention.” He then railed against the martyr — not against his murderers or their prophet:

Eulogius fabricates lies designed to shock his Christian reader.  This way, even those elements of Islam that resemble Christianity (such as reverence of Jesus and his virgin mother) are deformed and blackened, so as to prevent the Christian from admiring anything about the Muslim other.  The goal is to inspire hatred for the “oppressors[.]” … Eulogius sets out to show that the Muslim is not a friend but a potential rapist of Christ’s virgins. (Saracens: Islam in the Medieval European Imagination, p.93)

As already seen, however, it is Muhammad himself — not any “Christian polemicist” — who “fabricates lies designed to shock,” namely that Mary will be his eternal concubine.

This, incidentally, is the main problem the purveyors of Abrahamism fail to acknowledge: Islam does not treat biblical characters the way Christianity does.

Christians accept the Hebrew Bible, or Old Testament, as it is. They do not add, take away, or distort the accounts of the patriarchs that Jews also rely on. Conversely, while also relying on the figures of the Old and New Testaments — primarily for the weight of antiquity and authority attached to their names — Islam completely recasts them with different attributes that reaffirm Muhammad’s religion as the one true and final “revelation,” as opposed to Judaism and Christianity, whose biblical accounts on these figures are then seen as “distorted” because they are different from Islam’s later revisions.

Far from creating “commonalities,” it should be clear that such appropriation creates conflict. By way of analogy, imagine that you have a grandfather whom you are particularly fond of, and out of the blue, a stranger who never even met your grandfather says: “Hey, that’s my grandfather!”  Then — lest you think this stranger is somehow trying to become your friend — he adds: “And everything you thought you knew about grandpa is wrong!  Only I have his true life story.”

Would that create a “bridge” between you and this stranger trying to appropriate and recast the image of your grandfather?
