The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Former Atheist Mark Zuckerberg Wants Facebook To Become More Like A ‘Church’ To Bring World ‘Closer Together’
“As I've travelled around and learned about different places, one theme is clear: every great community has great leaders. Think about it. A church doesn't just come together. It has a pastor who cares for the well-being of their congregation, makes sure they have food and shelter.”

6/28/17
Mark Zuckerberg says he wants Facebook users to start playing a similar role to pastors in churches. He recently announced a new mission for the social network, which is set to focus on growing groups and communities to “bring the world closer together”.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Last year, the former atheist Mark Zuckerberg announced that he had ‘found religion’ and celebrated Christmas for the first time. Now, he envisions Facebook as a ‘church’, and its nearly 2 billion users as ‘pastors’. Now I don’t know about you, but given Facebook’s overpowering influence around the globe, I find this new direction to be than just a little creepy. Is Zuckerberg selling…or buying? Since these are the end times, I’m thinking he’s buying.

He believes the site can be used to unite what he sees as a “divided” society, and make users feel like they are “part of something bigger”. Facebook has been using artificial intelligence to recommend groups to users, and Mr Zuckerberg says the approach led to a 50 per cent increase in people joining them, within six months.

However, while the site has almost two billion users, Mr Zuckerberg says “only” 100 million of them are currently part of “meaningful communities”. He wants that figure to rise to a billion.

“If we can do this, it will not only turn around the whole decline in community membership we’ve seen for decades, it will start to strengthen our social fabric and bring the world closer together,” he said.

“As I’ve travelled around and learned about different places, one theme is clear: every great community has great leaders. Think about it. A church doesn’t just come together. It has a pastor who cares for the well-being of their congregation, makes sure they have food and shelter.”

He added, “Leaders set the culture, inspire us, give us a safety net, and look out for us.”

He singled out a number of administrators for praise, including the leader of a support group for women and the leader of a locksmith group.

“Communities give us that sense that we are part of something bigger than ourselves, that we are not alone, that we have something better ahead to work for,” he said.
A typical day in the life of Mark Zuckerberg

“We all get meaning from our communities. Whether they’re churches, sports teams, or neighbourhood groups, they give us the strength to expand our horizons and care about broader issues. Studies have proven the more connected we are, the happier we feel and the healthier we are.

“People who go to church are more likely to volunteer and give to charity — not just because they’re religious, but because they’re part of a community.

“That’s why it’s so striking that for decades, membership in all kinds of groups has declined as much as one-quarter. That’s a lot of people who now need to find a sense of purpose and support somewhere else.” source

Facebook Live Becoming The New Internet Hot Spot For ****, Sexual Assault And Suicide Videos
The victim is a 23-year-old woman. Papania said additional charges of abusing a vulnerable adult would apply if the victim is mentally handicapped. He said he does expect additional arrests. The viral video was removed from Facebook, but a copy of the video was posted Wednesday morning. It has gotten around 48,000 views on Facebook, Papania said. “I can’t help but be disturbed by the incredible numbers of shares and views of this crude and despicable event,” he said. “We videotape pain and suffering, then we share it and then we view it over and over.”

Two teenagers wanted in connection with viral video posted on Facebook Live that shows the sexual and physical assault of a woman are in police custody, according to the Gulfport Police Department

EDITOR’S NOTE: Social media giant Facebook takes great pride in thier “community standards”, even going so far as having international ‘deletion teams’ to remove “hate speech” and other things they deem offensive. Yet somehow, they seem unable to prevent dozens of live videos over their networks showing rapes, suicides and sexual assaults. Seems to me that creating an algorithm to detect certain trigger keywords when spoken to cut off the stream shouldn’t be so hard to do. So why aren’t they doing it?

Haleigh Alexis Hudson, 19, turned herself into police around 7 p.m. Wednesday. She was arrested on charges of felony kidnapping and sexual assault. Ezzie Johnson, 17, was arrested by police around 8 p.m. Wednesday. He faces a charge of felony kidnapping.

Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner set Hudson’s bond at $400,000. Johnson’s bond was set by Ladner at $200,000. Hudson and Johnson are held at the Harrison County jail.

Officers at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday responded to a report of an assault on the 3100 block of 7th Avenue and learned a woman was sexually and physically assaulted while being recorded on Facebook Live.

Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said officers worked through the night and obtained warrants for Johnson and Hudson. Johnson, who will be charged as an adult, is accused of filming the video at Hudson’s home.

“We videotape pain and suffering, then we share it and then we view it over and over.” source

Teenagers Using Social Media To Deal Class A Drugs And Concealing It From Parents And Teachers By Using Emojis
The use of emojis also speeds up the deals. For example, an image of an autumnal maple leaf is often deployed as a symbol for drugs. Other popular drug-related symbols include a needle, pill and diamond. It has also been reported that emojis for a lightning bolt and a heart refer to ecstasy.

7/13/17

Children are using social media to buy and sell Class A drugs, an investigation found. An undercover operation exposed how popular social networks, including Snapchat and Instagram, have become a ‘paradise’ for those dealing in illegal substances.

Teenagers are employing a code made up of ‘emojis’ – small digital images normally used to convey emotions – to conceal the deals. One of the country’s largest drug gangs told a BBC documentary 75 per cent of their takings now come through social media transactions, using ‘digital-savvy’ school pupils.

Film-maker Stacey Dooley confronted the young dealers, highlighting the ease with which illegal transactions can be arranged. One of them, 15-year-old ‘Denver’, was wearing his school uniform when he was filmed trying to sell her seven pills of MDMA, also known as ecstasy, at Maidstone railway station.

A second, 16-year-old ‘Tai’, was contacted via Snapchat and agreed to do a deal for six MDMA pills at Croydon station.

He revealed he makes approximately £300 a day, that the ‘money is addictive’ and he uses it to ‘buy clothes, go out, enjoy my life’.

Asked if he felt pressurised by adults into selling drugs to other children, he said: ‘I’m a kid so kids know me … kids come to me to get their thing. When I’m grown up I’m not gonna be selling to little kids … but I am a little kid and I sell these things and all these people that want it … it’s not my fault that they want it.’

Miss Dooley was granted access to the ‘safe house’ of one of Britain’s largest drug gangs. Bosses, their faces covered with balaclavas, showed her a shipment of liquid **** from South America.

They said: ‘Probably 75 per cent of the takings [are from social media]. It’s the younger generation’s game now, it’s the kids on Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram.’ They added that the fast-paced communication on such platforms, which have instant chat features, means a gang member can make £26,000 in just two days.

Miss Dooley said: ‘I fear it is going to take something very tragic to happen to these kids before [location app] Yellow, Instagram and Snapchat wake up and take action. Until then it will continue to be a drug dealers’ paradise.’

Snapchat, which has 250million global users and is used by more than 75 per cent of UK teens, said: ‘We encourage all Snapchatters to report anything to us that doesn’t belong on Snapchat.’

Instagram, which has 700 million monthly users, said it urges anyone who comes across content like that in the film to report it.

Yellow acknowledged it needs to do more to prohibit the sale of drugs but claims it is a problem in society that it cannot control. The programme tested reporting tools on Instagram, Snapchat and Yellow, highlighting three drug-dealing users, but 72 hours later, all the accounts were still active.

Dollar Tree Closing All Stores?
Neither Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, nor Dollar General is closing all their stores, despite a widespread rumor on social media.

As screenshots and shares of the rumor spread, many conflated Dollar Tree with competitors Family Dollar or Dollar General, causing confusion about which chain of low-price retail stores was purportedly closing. Regardless, React365 is a prank generator that allows users to fabricate their own phony headlines for sharing on social media:

BREAKING: Senate Intel Committee Goes After Zuckerberg!!
9/27/17

Facebook has become the latest to receive a request to testify in an open hearing regarding social media and its influence in the 2016 election.

From The Hill:

The Senate Intelligence Committee has issued a request for Facebook to testify in an open hearing to examine how foreign actors may have used social media companies to influence the 2016 election, The Hill has learned.

The hearing is set for Nov. 1. Facebook confirmed Wednesday that it has received the invitation, but it is not clear yet whether the company will accept.

Committee leaders have also expressed interest in hearing from Twitter.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said Wednesday that it’s not important to him that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg or other top executives necessarily show up.

http://reformation21.org/articles/the-advantage-of-virtual-church.php

Excerpt:

Iain Murray's latest book on Martyn Lloyd Jones makes a point about his view of preaching.

'he believed that the gospel preached in a worshipping church, and in a local setting, has an advantage over other situations. Here the preacher is not just one man addressing a crowd; he is part of a community of believers who are not onlookers; they are involved; they too are witnesses in whom the Holy Spirit is present.' (p15)

'sermons should be heard in the context of worship not listened to casually as one might listen to anything else' (p19)

We live in an unbelievably individualistic world, and this has not just crept into the church; it has run full steam in and is in danger of wiping us out.  Church is full of difficult people, people we don't naturally get on with each other, but that is the church for which Christ has died.  We neglect these people at our peril. It is the community of God's people that God meets with. Murray continues

'When this is a reality, the incomer is confronted by something that has no counterpart in the world - thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is in you of a truth (1 Cor 14:25 av). Something of eternity may be felt on such an occasion: 'Our coming together in public worship should be a foretaste of heaven'.(p15)

You just don't get that listening on your iplayer in the car or listening to sermons because you can't sleep.  We have adopted a celebrity culture in evangelicalism when conferences - or more accurately conference organisers - often feel they are the true barometer of Christianity in our culture.  If numbers are up at a conferences - 'Jubilation God is on the move' but if on the other hand numbers go down - 'people have lost their hunger for the gospel, a sad reflection on the church at this time'.  If 98% of conferences were got rid of would it make any difference?  Admittedly certain speakers would have a lot more time on their hands, but would the church suffer?

All the time the local church is bleeding because people have lost their commitment to the nitty gritty of church life.  Some are frustrated that their ministers aren't half as good as the ones they hear online. Of course the internet can be greatly used for the kingdom. Of course God has used the web ministries, but there is danger for us here.

I recognise there is a danger that we swing to the other extreme of not recognising gifted men and giants in the church. The speakers at many of these conferences are godly men doing a great work, but the danger remains. Local church can seem so dreary compared to the glamorous conferences. For us as ministers we can long to be on the bigger stage and get frustrated with the work that God has called us to do in the local church.

The church of Christ is the apple of Gods eye, the centre of what he is doing.  He cares passionately about our local church life. What goes on in your local church is infinitely more important that what goes on in any conference or any web ministry.  Don't be dazzled by the internet preachers or Christian celebrities.  Be amazed that you have been called to play your part in Gods new community - The church.
