September 24, 2017, 10:45:16 pm Psalm 51:17 says: The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rulebook. It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Mesquite pastor charged with raping a woman in West Virginia

The pastor of a Baptist church in Mesquite has been jailed in West Virginia on charges he raped a woman he met in a bar there.

According to The Charleston Gazette, Matthew D. Jarrell, 41, of Terrell, is jailed in Kanawha County, W.V. He is pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Mesquite.

A complaint says he offered the woman a ride home from a bar. Instead, he drove to a secluded area. There, he held her face down on the seat of the truck and sodomized her, the newspaper reported, citing the complaint. She later was able to escape and contact police.

A sheriff's deputy detained Jarrell Thursday morning. He initially denied the attack, but later admitted it, the complaint said. According to the Gazette, an associate pastor at the church declined comment when contacted Thursday.

The image at right was taken from the web site for Open Door Baptist Church, which has been taken down today.

The front page of that now-defunct website includes a statement signed by Jarrell that decries a nation "filled with unhappy people with troubled homes."

"Our society, our schools, and many of our churches have tried modern morals and values, which all have failed," the statement says. "Open Door is still holding to those 'old-fashioned' principles and helping people to become happy again."

We're pursuing the story and will have more later.

A pastor accused of an allegedly sexually assaulting  a Sissonville woman has taken his own life, according to  officials at the South Central Regional Jail and West Virginia State Police.

Matthew Jarrell had been arraigned Thursday, May 19. Jail officials found him Saturday May 21 between 11 and 11:30 p.m.  After trying to revive him, he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The minister had been separated from the jail population and held in protective custody.

Jarrell was the senior pastor at the Open Door Baptist Church in Mesquite, Tex. The church also operates the Mesquite Baptist Academy.

Dr. Jarrell came from one of two “sending churches” for Siegfred de Guzman Evangelistic Ministries, which partnered with churches in the Philippines to spread the gospel.  In addition, he had been a featured speaker at the national God Save America Revival Conference in Boyne City, Mich. On November 8-11, 2010.

The church he pastored had  a significant Spanish ministry and based on a Facebook posting is filled every Sunday.

He was also part of the Randy Taylor Revival ministries

If he was in "protective custody", then where was the protection? Why was he seperated in the first place? Sounds strange.

As for him dying, God knows.

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Hebrews 9:27 (KJB)
