How Ron Wyatt found the Ark of the Covenant as told by Kent Hovind. Although this hasn't been documented, I'd say it's real. Ron Wyatt is a nice bloke - I wouldn't accuse him of lying, and neither would Hovind. Also, apparently the elders in Israel know about this find as Hovind shows in the video.

JERUSALEM EXCAVATIONS CONFIRM RADAR ANOMALY

http://www.wyattmuseum.com/pages/old_pages/Zedekiahs%20Cave.htm

SIGNIFICANT DISCOVERIES
IN ZEDEKIAH’S CAVE

SPECIAL NOTE: Wyatt Archaeological Research is sponsoring the excavation in Zedekiah's Cave under the full scientific directorship of Yehiel Zelinger of the Israel Antiquities Authority.  IAA is not party to the claims made by Ron Wyatt concerning the Ark.

As the work in Zedekiah's Cave is incomplete, this article is not intended, nor should it in any way be considered to be a conclusion, or an interpretation of the data collected.   It is simply an overview of the work that has been done to this point.

BACKGROUND:

Around 1450 BC a consuming fire descended upon Mt. Sinai. The Creator Himself came down and made a covenant with the Children of Israel. With His own finger, He wrote His covenant, The Ten Commandments, and instructed that it be placed in a golden receptacle known as the Ark of the Covenant, a container for the covenant and the very throne upon which His presence was to dwell.

In the presence of the Almighty, the chosen people of Israel became invincible "a kingdom of priests and a holy nation."

Some 800 years later, Israel had fallen away from it’s obligation to that Covenant; and, due to idolatrous abominations, the combining of pagan worship with that described in the first four commandments, the presence of God left the mercy seat, and with it the protection of Israel. In the year 586 B.C. the Babylonians took the city of Jerusalem, but not the Ark of the Covenant, for it had mysteriously vanished, seemingly without a trace. The Biblical accounts in 2 Kings chapter 25, and Ezra chapter 1, reveal that the Ark of the Covenant was not included in the spoils of Babylon.

In the late nineteenth century, while exploring the quarries of King Solomon under the city of Jerusalem, a French scholar, Charles Clermont-Ganneau , spotted a carving etched into the stone. Upon careful examination he discovered the body of a Lion, the wings of a bird, and the head of a man. The representation he found fit the description of a Biblical Cherub, not uncommon to find at the entrance of royal passageways.

Before his death in 1999, Biblical Archaeologist Ron Wyatt described an underground passageway that he determined to be that used by Jeremiah the prophet in transporting the Ark of the Covenant to a place of safety during the Babylonian siege. Ron found that the cherub, seen by Ganneau in King Solomon’s quarries, marked its entrance.

It is important to consider the fact that the information which Ron related was not a theory, but rather an eyewitness account. He believed that one day his account would be verified. As the official source of information relating to the discoveries of Ron Wyatt, Wyatt Archaeological Research - www.wyattmuseum.com - continues it’s leadership role in the Biblically prescribed principal of verification. Pursuant to that principal, the beginning phase of excavation was recently completed to locate and document the passageway of Jeremiah; a passageway which could play an integral part in events prior to the final revelation of the Creators Covenant with His people.

EXPLORATION:

In February 2003 Wyatt Archaeological Research conducted ground penetrating radar scans at the exact location Ron had described as the entrance to the passageway of Jeremiah. The Radar scans revealed a void behind a man made wall, and the project to locate Jeremiah’s passageway began. Excavation permits were obtained from the Israel Antiquities Authority and an appeal was made for volunteers to participate. The response was overwhelming. Not only were there those who offered to physically assist with the work; but others who offered financial support and most importantly their support by way of prayer.

Among those who supported the efforts of Wyatt Archaeological Research, an international team consisting of thirty plus volunteers physically participated in a concerted effort to locate the passageway of Jeremiah.

The project began with the use of the latest technology in Subsurface Interface Radar, a device that can actually peer below the surface and see what lies beneath. Having located an anomaly below a man made wall, which matched that seen in previous radar scans, the work began in earnest. Excavation began down the face of the wall in an attempt to find some opening which might lead to Jeremiah’s passageway. This effort led to a dangerous and unexpected discovery that would alter excavation plans, the discovery of what appeared to be the walls foundation only a short distance below the surface.

At that time, it was uncertain whether what had been discovered was truly a foundation, or the top of another wall. Once again radar was employed in an attempt to determine the nature of the discovery. After reviewing the data Israeli archaeologists called for extensive excavation; the removal of tons of material. The call presented a seemingly insurmountable task given the time constraints of the workers. The question arose; How could so much material be moved in such a short period of time?

The Wyatt team went to work. A ramp system was devised which would make it possible to transport stone, soil, and debris from the excavation site to wheelbarrows below; a system which would prove to greatly accelerate the dig. In an unprecedented effort, tons of material were removed in record time only to confirm that what had been revealed was indeed a foundation and not the top of another wall.

DSC06639.jpg (84981 bytes)

After the walls’ foundation had been carefully and painstakingly cleaned, engineers were brought in to analyze the situation. Their conclusion cast serious doubt upon further excavation. The wall was in danger of collapse!

Excavation team members brought with them a wide range of talents; business men, medical doctors and nurses, those involved in the field of science, and those having expertise in the field of construction and construction materials. By divine appointment, it was no coincidence that the owner of one of the nations largest firms, involved with foundation support, was a participant in the excavations. Plans were presented to engineers and a concerted effort was launched to devise a method of shoring that would not only support the compromised wall but which would provide for a means of safely excavating under it.

A special meeting was called at Rockefeller Museum, home of the Israel Antiquities Authority; and after hours of extensive discussion and scientific calculation a shoring system was agreed upon which would allow the work to continue. While the excavation team made preparation, the search for wooden shoring material was underway; an expensive and not so simple task in Jerusalem, a city of predominately stone construction. After visits to multiple suppliers the materials were finally secured and within hours of delivery the first shoring frame was ready to be placed.

DSC06973.jpg (88714 bytes)

In front of the subterranean wall a shelter was to be built from which the excavation could safely continue under its foundation. One by one team members positioned the shoring frames, while at the same time others carefully braced the wall with backfill and sand bags. Having re-secured the wall, the work could then proceed. Following the pathway of material that had been seen on radar, a tunnel was constructed under the foundation of the ancient wall. A pathway of loose stone and then soft soil was located, which supported Ron’s account. This was definitely an area that had been filled in at some time in the past. Probes into the material, and additional radar scans, indicated that we were on the right track.

Once again, safety concerns became a factor. It was determined by the engineers assigned to the project, that once the excavation extended past the walls’ foundation, which now served as a ceiling, the tremendous weight of the loose material above could collapse in on the excavations; a potentially deadly scenario.

In an effort to make an accurate determination of how much material rested above, a survey crew was called in to calculate the exact position and elevation of the Wyatt excavation in relationship to the ancient walls of Suleiman, and the Old City of Jerusalem which lay above. After locating a survey benchmark outside the Northern wall of Jerusalem, the position of the city above was superimposed on the excavation map. The survey led to a startling discovery. To everyone’s amazement, not only was the excavation about to extend beyond the wall below, but beyond the towering outer walls of Jerusalem, a scenario in perfect agreement with the account of Ron Wyatt.

As the survey continued it was soon determined that more than 10 meters, some 40 feet of material, lay above the heads of the workers.

With the excavation schedule for the first phase of excavations nearing its end, it was agreed by all parties that the site should temporarily be secured. A decision which would not serve to end the project; but rather a new beginning, an essential step toward future success.

As archaeological engineering for continued excavation proceeds, discussions are underway about amazing options never before thought possible.

Reminded that Ron Wyatt worked for three and one half years before the realization of his efforts to locate the Ark of the Covenant, the Wyatt teams returns home with a sense of accomplishment and awaits another day for the key that will unlock the mystery of the cherub in Zedekiah’s cave, and the passageway that leads to the Ark of the Covenant.

I think the odds are pretty good that if they build the temple, they'll have an ark to put in it, real or not. Personally, I think it will be a forgery and not the real ark as I think that would fit with the overall abomination.

Has the ark of the covenant been Discovered?
The end of the Old Testament period brought a different world to the Jewish people than what they had been used to experiencing. Not the least of these changes involved the loss of their independence and the destruction of their Temple. As we begin our consideration of the Messianic promise during the time between the testaments, it is good to pause and attempt to answer a question that I am often asked—the whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant. The problem is that the Bible is silent about what happened to it before or after the destruction of the Temple in 586 B.C. While the issue is not directly related to the subject of the Messiah, it will serve to introduce the next period that will concern us—the Intertestamental age and how the Messianic idea underwent change and even caused some of that change!

The Ark of the Covenant was the central furnishing both in the Tabernacle and also later in the Temple of Solomon. It was a chest made of acacia wood covered by gold, 3 3/4 feet in length and 2 1/4 feet wide and high. Within were the two tables of the Law. It was from above this Ark, between the cherubim attached to the mercy seat resting upon the Ark, that Yahweh communed with Israel (cf. Ex. 25:22).

In the 1980's, reports surfaced that an American group had discovered the Ark of the Covenant on Mount Nebo in Jordan. Although no reliable pictures of the Ark were released and no qualified archaeologists ever confirmed the discovery, the rumor spread quickly and caused many to wonder and ask questions. There are also reports that rabbis have "seen" the ark under the Temple Mount. The attitude of any sensible person ought to be that until solid evidence of the Ark's discovery is revealed and confirmed by competent authorities, a skeptical opinion must be held. The reason for this is evident when some basic historical and biblical facts about the Ark are understood.

Fact One
The Bible simply does not reveal what happened to the Ark when the Solomonic Temple was destroyed in 586 B.C. Although it may have been carried off to Babylon as a trophy of war, there is no mention of its being among the confiscated Temple items in 2 Kings 25. The explanation offered in the movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, is that it was carried off by the Egyptian Pharaoh Shishak when he plundered the "treasures" of the Temple in 925 B.C. (1 Ki. 14:25-26). It is not clear at all, however, that the Ark was among those "treasures." As a matter of fact, the Bible teaches that the ark was still in Jerusalem during the time of Josiah, three hundred years after the attack by Shishak (2 Chron. 35:3). So we know that it did not disappear into Egypt at that time. This is particularly important in light of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church claim to have the ark in an underground temple in Northern Ethiopia. The Biblical statement cited above contradicts any idea that the ark was carried away to Africa in the tenth century B.C. as the Ethiopians claim. Further complicating this claim is the fact that no outsider has ever seen this ark in Ethiopia. How then can such a claim ever possibly be substantiated?

Fact Two
An apocryphal book written during the century prior to Jesus' birth records an interesting idea about the fate of the Ark. 2 Maccabees 2:4-7 reads:

"It was also in the writing that the prophet [Jeremiah], in obedience to a revelation, gave orders that the tent and the ark should accompany him, and that he went up and beheld God's inheritance. And Jeremiah came and found a cave-dwelling, and he took the tent and the ark and the incense altar into it, and he blocked up the door. And some of those who followed him came up to mark the road, and they could not find it. But when Jeremiah found it out, he blamed them and said, "The place shall be unknown until God gathers the congregation of his people together and shows his mercy."

It is this reference that some ark-hunters used in their "discovery" of the Ark on Mount Nebo in Jordan. The following should be kept in mind, however, concerning this passage. While scholars acknowledge that 1 Maccabees is a very reliable source of historical information, 2 Maccabees is marred by many legendary and miraculous tales recorded nowhere else. For example, it is in 2 Maccabees 12:43-46 where the offering of prayers and sacrifices for the dead is mentioned, a practice which is nowhere mentioned in the canonical Scriptures. It is highly doubtful, therefore, that Jeremiah did what the above account declares he did. There is no such reference to Jeremiah's action in either Kings, Chronicles or in his very autobiographical prophetic book that goes by his name. Again we must ask, "Why did not the Scriptures record this very important deed if it really happened?"

Furthermore, if we are going to consider information from non-scriptural sources, why not accept the following simple statement in an apocryphal work from the first century? In 4 Esdras 10:22, the Jewish author bemoans the idea that, among other tragedies befalling his people, "the ark of our covenant has been plundered."

Fact Three
A Jewish tradition exists that the Ark had been buried under the "Chamber of Wood" in the Temple prior to the Babylonian destruction in 586 BC. We should note, however, that this tradition appeared hundreds of years later than the destruction of the Temple. Furthermore, the rabbi that mentioned this tradition was opposed by other rabbis in the Talmudic discussion on this subject in Yoma 53b. The fact that this discussion took place in approximately 160 A.D. and that such an act of burying was not recorded either in the Bible or in previous apocryphal books makes this tradition questionable. This does not prevent, however, some orthodox rabbis in Jerusalem today from believing that the Ark is still underneath the Temple Mount and will be recovered someday by archaeologists or Jewish religious leaders. It is often overlooked, however, that the subterranean sections of the Temple Mount have been dug up or explored a number of times since 586 B.C. People like Herod the Great (37-4 B.C.), the Moslem conquerors (640 A.D. ff.), the Crusaders (1199 AD ff.), the Turks (1540 AD ff.), and the British explorer Charles Warren (1850-70) dug up or explored all the subterranean regions of the Temple Mount and no one claimed to have found the ark. It is often forgotten that Warren was a dedicated Free Mason who was actually searching for the ark! Rabbinic "reports" about a so-called ark-sighting after the '67 War are purely apocryphal and have no independent confirmation or photographs. While the remote possibility still exists that it is in a hidden chamber under the mount, only time will tell and skepticism about its presence there is highly advisable.

Fact Four
Modern ark-hunters often defend their efforts by saying that the discovery of the Ark is necessary for the rebuilding of the Temple. They forget, however, an important established fact of history. It was not necessary for the Ark to be present in either Zerubbabel's Temple or in the later, greatly enlarged Temple of Herod. Josephus records that when Pompey entered the Temple in 63 B.C., he did not find the Ark in the Holy of Holies (Antiquities XIV, IV, 4). Furthermore, it was acknowledged by later rabbis that after the Ark had been taken away by the Babylonians, the only thing that remained in the Holy of Holies was a "foundation stone." On this stone the high priest sprinkled the blood on the Day of Atonement that he formerly sprinkled on the Ark during the days of the first Temple (Mishna Yoma 5:2-3). The point to be noticed is that although the ark was not present in the Second Temple, its absence did not prevent the Temple from being very active during that time.

Although the discovery of the Ark would be an astounding event, its discovery is not necessary for the rebuilding of the Temple prophesied in Daniel 9:26-27; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:4; and Revelation 11:1-2.

Fact Five
An amazing prophetic statement by Jeremiah should be carefully noted:

"And when you have multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, declares the LORD, they shall no more say, 'The ark of the covenant of the LORD.' It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again" (Jer. 3:16).

Jeremiah is prophesying of the future millennial restoration of Israel. He clearly states the lack of necessity for an Ark during this time of future blessing. Moreover, it is highly significant to note that Ezekiel 40-44 describes the millennial Temple and makes no mention of the Ark, although many other details of its gates, chambers, furniture, and ritual are given.

All of the above information should cause each of us to be very careful in evaluating any stories about the supposed discovery of the Ark of the Covenant. Let us labor to study what God has clearly revealed, and not get caught up with extra-biblical ideas and teachings. We have enough in God's Word to keep us busy—let's not get sidetracked by sensational "arkaeology"!

"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deut. 29:29).

Will this be the first time the world sees the Ark of Covenant? Leaking roof in Ethiopian chapel 'will lead to relic being revealed'

Ark contains Ten Commandments God 'gave' to Moses on Mount Sinai
One holy monk is the only person allowed to see the holy box...

...but he'll need a hand carrying metre long wooden structure to new home

A very British problem of a leaky church roof could be about to give the world the chance to glimpse the legendary Ark of the Covenant.

That's because the claimed home of the iconic relic - a small chapel in Ethiopia - has sprung a leak and so the Ark could now be on the move.

The Ark - which The Bible says holds God's Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai - is said to have been kept in Aksum, in the Chapel of the Tablet, adjacent to St Mary of Zion Church, since the 1960s.

According to the Old Testament, it was first kept in the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem for centuries until a Babylonian invasion in the 6th century BC.

Since then it's been the goal of many adventurers and archaeologists to find it. Most-famously, but also fictitiously, Indiana Jones was shown in the 1981 Steven Spielberg film Raiders of the Lost Ark.

There has also been a long-running claim from the Orthodox Christians of Ethiopia that they have had the Ark for centuries, and since the 1960s it has apparently been kept in the chapel.

This small and curiously-styled building is surrounded by spiked iron railings, and situated between two churches, the old and new, of St Mary of Zion in central Aksum.

No one has been allowed to see the holy object, described in scripture as being made from acacia wood, plated with gold and topped with two golden angels, except one solitary elderly monk, who must watch over the Ark for the remainder of his life, and is never allowed to leave the chapel grounds.

But now the chapel - which was designed by the Ethiopian leader Emperor Hailie Selassie - has had to be covered in a tarpaulin to stop rain getting in.

The water damage could mean the Ark will be moved for the first time in decades giving religious worshippers and adventurers alike a chance to see it.

British photographer Tim Makins, 54, who is a travel photographer for publications like Lonely Planet, discovered the church had sprung a leak whilst travelling through Ethiopia last September.

He believes the moving of the Ark could be one of the best ways to discover if there's any truth in the claims of the East African state.

Tim said: 'During my most recent visit to the church, I was surprised to see some ground adjacent to the ''Chapel of the Tablet'' being cleared and levelled by workmen, and some quantities of building stone being assembled nearby.

'Asking around, I managed to discover that a new temporary chapel is due to be built, and the Ark is to be moved into it while the original chapel is repaired.

'It seems that the builders of the 1960s were not as careful as the builders of centuries past, and the roof of the chapel has developed some serious leaks that now need comprehensive repair work.

'To protect the Ark, a tarpaulin now covers the roof of the chapel but this is just a temporary measure.

'To renovate the building thoroughly, the roof must be stripped back to the bare bones and so a replacement chapel is to be built next door providing a temporary home for it.'

Tim said the construction of the new temporary chapel would take about three months according to workers and religious figures at the site, though he suspects that it will probably take much longer.

He added: 'When the work is finished, the Ark of the Covenant will be carried to its new resting place.'

'That this can be done by the one person allowed to see it is unlikely, as The Bible describes the size of the Ark as 2.5 cubits in length, 1.5 in breadth, and 1.5 in height.

'Cubits in today's measurements translate to about 1.31 metres x 0.79m x 0.79m and it is normally carried on two long wooden poles.

'If it really is this size, and still contains the two stone tablets that list God's Ten Commandments, then the elderly monk will no doubt need some help to transport it.'

Obviously, this is silly. God doesn't reside in the ark anymore, and hasn't since Jesus manifested in the flesh, and likely before that, and that means there is zero risk to seeing it or touching it. Whatever they may reveal, it ain't the real ark anyway. It's in heaven.

With the building of a new temple, they need the/an ark to place in the "holy place".

10  And they shall make an ark [of] shi ttim wood: two cubits and a half [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
11  And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.
12  And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put [them] in the four corners thereof; and two rings [shall be] in the one side of it, and two rings in the other side of it.
13  And thou shalt make staves [of] shi ttim wood, and overlay them with gold.
14  And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.
15  The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it.
16  And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.
17  And thou shalt make a mercy seat [of] pure gold: two cubits and a half [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.
18  And thou shalt make two cherubims [of] gold, [of] beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.
19  And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: [even] of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.
20  And the cherubims shall stretch forth [their] wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces [shall look] one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.
21  And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.
22  And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which [are] upon the ark of the testimony, of all [things] which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.
Exodus 25:10-22 (KJB)

I have little doubt with a new temple, they will produce an ark, maybe not the original, but I think they will have one from somewhere. But then we need to remember that the temple sacrifice will be stopped and the "abomination of desolation" will take place, which may well involve a fake ark along with the Antichrist declaring himself God.

Yes, I've seen artist renderings of what they think it looked like. But from the descriptions in scripture, I'm not convinced people have it correct. Close, but the instructions are a bit general, particularly the cherubs on top, so I suspect the end product wasn't quite what people have come up with.

For instance, what exactly does a "cherub" look like? Or what would a "stave" look like? There's only a basic description. The staves are really just gold plated shi ttim wood poles. Thickness? Length? No mention. The "rings"? Gives location they were to be placed, and they were to be cast in gold. Obviously a ring is round and has a hole through it, but not even a mention of it's diameter, so I'm assuming that God simply left those details up to what man was using at the time, the "standard" size of a pole that was used to carry stuff, and a ring that was big enough for the pole to fit through.

So whatever they produce, as I understand temple worship, it must be the original. To me, a fake would be an abomination, according to Judaic law.

Then does that mean those people who would worship at the new temple not really be Jews according to the law, being in violation of the law? Hmm.

"...they say they are Jews and are not..."

World's largest ark of the covenant donated to Israel

Filipino Christian businesswoman Grace Gupana donates the world's largest replica of the Ark of the Covenant to Israel • The ark goes on display in Jerusalem Tuesday.

A giant replica of the Ark of the Covenant will go on display for the first time Tuesday on a truck opposite the Israeli Supreme Court and Foreign Ministry.

The replica was conceived, constructed and donated to the state of Israel by Grace Gupana, a 52-year-old Christian businesswoman from the Philippines.

The replica weighs 800 kg (1,760 pounds), and measures 3 meters tall, 5 meters long and 1.6 meters wide. It is made of special wood, with staves of iron as well as stone-carved cherubim painted gold.

After its display in Jerusalem, the ark will remain in Israel as a gift. The ark took 12 artists and artisans four months to build. It is a replica of the original Ark of the Covenant as described in Exodus Chapter 25. Gupana hopes it will enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest such replica in existence.

Ark Of The Covenant Location Found? Newly Translated Text Reveals Where King Solomon’s Treasures May Have Been Hidden

Text from a recently translated Hebrew document appears to reference the location of several ancient Biblical treasures, and even mentions the famed Ark of the Covenant. According to Live Science, the document, called the “Treatise of the Vessels,” suggests the artifacts were tucked away in various places throughout the Middle East.

"Some of these [treasures] were hidden in various locations in the Land of Israel and in Babylonia, while others were delivered into the hands of the angels Shamshiel, Michael, Gabriel and perhaps Sariel,” wrote James Davila, a professor at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland who translated the Hebrew text and reported on it in an article in the book "Old Testament Pseudepigrapha More Noncanonical Scriptures Volume 1.”

Davila drew parallels between the treatise and another ancient text, the Copper Scroll, one of the Dead Sea Scrolls that differed from the others in that it was written on metal. On the Copper Scroll, now housed at the Jordan Museum in Amman, is inscribed a list of locations at which various gold and silver items were buried or hidden long ago.

The newly translated treatise refers to a “tablet of bronze” on which King Solomon’s Temple treasures were recorded.

Does this mean archaeologists are one step closer to finding the lost Ark? Unfortunately, even though the Hebrew text seems to contain similarities to other ancient documents in its familiarity with King Solomon’s treasures, the text didn’t come with a road map. Treasure-seekers and Indiana Jones fans will have to wait for the next big breakthrough in Hebrew text translations.

"The writer draws on traditional methods of scriptural exegesis to deduce where the treasures might have been hidden, but I think the writer was approaching the story as a piece of entertaining fiction, not any kind of real guide for finding the lost Temple treasures," Davila told Live Science. "My guess is that whoever wrote the Treatise of Vessels came up with the same idea [of writing a treasure list on metal] coincidentally on their own, although it is not unthinkable that the writer knew of some ancient tradition or custom about inscribing important information on metal.”

People have tried for centuries to locate and recover the Ark of the Covenant, but to no avail. The legendary gilded case is believed to have been constructed nearly 3,000 years ago by the Israelites to hold the Ten Commandments handed down to Moses by God.

According to biblical text, the Ark was made of gold-plated wood and topped with two large, golden angels. Its transporters used poles inserted through rings on its sides to carry the Ark from one place to the next.

When King Solomon’s Temple was captured and destroyed by the Babylonians in 597 and 586 B.C., the Ark disappeared forever. Scholars and archaeologists alike have long debated whether the coveted ancient artifact was captured, destroyed or hidden.

There's your key right there. He's referencing Gnostic text, the "Book of Enoch".

So in reading the article, it's apparent he says absolutely nothing new. Just a news release to promote his books.
