The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Austin man fatally stabs stepmom gloating about Cowboys' win

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Austin authorities say a woman's exuberance over the Dallas Cowboys winning their football game Sunday night led her stepson to fatally stab her.

Court documents reviewed by Austin television station KEYE (http://bit.ly/2haZSxm ) show Magdalena Ruiz was ''gloating'' about the Cowboys' victory over Tampa Bay after watching the game on TV with her husband. Detectives say her stepson, 20-year-old Pontrey O'Neal Jones, believed she was disrespecting his father so he walked behind a couch, lunged at his stepmother and stabbed her several times.

The woman's husband stepped in to stop the attack and Jones fled. Police later found him nearby. Ruiz was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Jones is held on a $500,000 bond and charged with murder.

Judge rebukes the Chicago four who tortured special needs man, and denies them bail

You’ll recall the recent story of four individuals in Chicago who kidnapped, and tortured a special needs man due to being an alleged “Trump voter.” The four have now had their day in court, and the judge who presided over the case had some harsh words for these young black adults.

“Where was your sense of decency?” asked the judge right before denying the four bail to be released from jail.

Fox29 has more.

“I find each of you a danger to yourself and society,” Cook County Circuit Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil said, sounding baffled that the suspects who hold jobs, attend school and, in one case, care for a brother in a wheelchair could be charged with attacking the 18-year-old victim. How, she wondered, could she agree to allow people accused of such “terrible actions” to walk out of jail?
The case has also revealed new actions that were taken by the Chicago four. Prosecutors have revealed that they had also demanded $300 from the mother of the special needs man. The torture had also started well before they got to the house, as the beatings began in the van on the way there.

They are now charged with two instances of a hate crime, one for his race, and the other due to him being special needs. Despite this, lawyers attempted to pass off the suspects as stand up citizens.

Defense attorneys portrayed the suspects as hardworking, responsible and religious. Cooper, for example, was taking care of his twin brother, who is in a wheelchair. Tanishia Covington has two small children. Her sister attends college and has a job. Hill, the judge was told, goes to church with his grandmother.

All four have experienced brushes with the law, some for serious and violent crimes.
According to Fox News, these violent crimes include an arrest of Tanishia Covington for armed robbery and aggravated battery in 2007, and armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and residential burglary for Jordan Hill.

Baby dolphin dies after tourists pull it out of the water for selfies, report says

The question "why?" can sometimes be answered by "because humans are selfish, thoughtless halfwits."

This answer may apply to the fact that tourists in the seaside resort of San Bernardo, Argentina, dragged a baby dolphin out of the water so that they could take selfies with it.

As Argentina's La Capital reports, this wasn't the work of one or two humans. A whole group of people dragged the dolphin out and surrounded it.

The paper quotes a woman called Claudia who said that after the photos were taken and fun was had, "they left it for dead."

She added that they could have put it back into the water, where dolphins are supposed to be. Instead, she said, they were more interested in touching it and taking selfies.

Video of the incident posted to Twitter shows many beachgoers crowded around the animal and no one seeming to be the slightest bit concerned for its survival.

This isn't the first time such a thing has happened.

Last February, in Santa Teresita -- another seaside Argentinian city -- a man dragged a rare Franciscana dolphin out of the water for a similar purpose and with a similar result.

Humans just can't help wanting to take selfies with animals, regardless of the risks to themselves or to the animals. In 2015, the need to take selfies with bears forced a Colorado park to close.

Please, just stop.

Chicago police: Dozens watched girl’s sexual assault on Facebook Live, but no one reported it

Chicago police said Tuesday that about 40 people watched a live stream of the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl — and no one reported it.

The apparent sexual assault of the 15-year-old Chicago girl was streamed on Facebook Live and approximately 40 people viewed it in real time, according to police.

The young girl was reported missing by her mother Sunday night after she didn’t return home from the store, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The teenager had spent the night with a relative, attended church Sunday morning and headed to a nearby store after she was dropped off, the relative said. She wasn’t spotted again until about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Tribune reported.

WGN-TV reported that she was found on a porch crying.

“It hurts me to my core because I was one of the last people to see her,” Reginald King, the girl’s uncle, told the Tribune. “I want to make sure this never happens to anybody else’s kids, and if that starts with taking down this one group, I’ll make that my life’s mission.

Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted that police are “making good progress identifying persons of interest” in the case but “no formal suspects named yet.”

The Facebook video has since been taken down, but not before screenshots of the video were shown to the girl’s mother so she could identify her daughter. Other relatives, like King, have seen the video as well.

“It was very, very graphic. She’s pulled toward the bed,” King said. “To have it put out there like that, publicly. It’s not right.”

King told the Tribune that a teenager told him about the video. He credited the teenager for doing “one of the bravest things” as he said adults viewed the livestream and did not come forward.

“What’s even more disturbing, more than the fact that they did this, there were so many people that saw this, and they didn’t pick up the phone and dial 911,” police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told WGN. “That’s just not right and [we’re] working on it and try to bring it to a successful resolution.”

Johnson told WGN that he was shown images from the video by the girl’s mother.

Guglielmi told the Tribune that Johnson was “visibly upset when he saw the pictures of the girl and was dismayed when he learned that people were watching the incident live and no one called the police.”

“[Johnson] immediately escorted the mother into the district and called the chief of detectives to order a team of investigators to respond to the district immediately,” Guglielmi said.

Chicago Alderman Michael Scott Jr. said Tuesday that a suspect is in custody but did not identify who the suspect is. However, Guglielmi tweeted Tuesday evening that the assertion could not be confirmed.

Police: Three Teens Stole Car, Killing 6-Year-Old Boy in Back Seat

Three Mississippi teenagers were arrested after a 6-year-old boy was killed in the back seat of a stolen car, police said.

Byron McBride, 19, along with D’Allen Washington and Dwan Wakefield, who are both 17, were charged with capital murder in connection with the child’s death, the Associated Press reported.

Police found 6-year-old Kingston Frazier with multiple gunshot wounds in the back of his mother’s stolen car that was abandoned in Gluckstadt, 15 miles north of Jackson, the state capital.

Authorities say Frazier went missing around 1 a.m. Thursday after a man drove a Toyota Camry out of a supermarket parking lot in Jackson.

Nine hours later, a man reported the missing vehicle found on a dead-end road in Gluckstadt.

Ebony Archie, the child’s mother, collapsed and broke down in sobs when she heard the news that her son had been killed at the district attorney’s office in Jackson.

Archie’s family members said that Ebony had just picked up Frazier from his grandmother’s house and decided to go the store to pick up party supplies for Frazier’s kindergarten graduation when the men broke into her car and drove away.

“She feels guilty for the fact that she decided to go inside the store and leave the car running when she went inside the store,” David Archie, Ebony Archie’s uncle, told WLBT.

Wakefield told investigators that McBride was the only one out of the three who was responsible for actually killing Frazier and stealing the vehicle.

Wakefield, McBride, and Washington all face charges of capital murder and will be tried as adults. However, only McBride could face the death penalty because of a Supreme Court ruling that outlawed the death penalty for anyone younger than 18.

The three of them are being held without bail in Madison County and are expected to appear in court Monday.

Michigan Killer Says He Is ‘By No Means Sorry,’ But Rather ‘It Felt Great’ to Murder

A convicted killer in Michigan expressed no remorse on Monday as he appeared in court for sentencing, but rather said that it “felt great” to kill someone.

“I am by no means sorry about what I did,” Brenton Walker, 55, declared before those gathered at the Presque Isle County Courthouse. “Now when I was given the opportunity to follow through that I’ve known for a long time that I’m capable of doing, it felt great. I feel vindicated because of it; I’ve never felt better in my life.”

According to reports, Walker met Heather Young, 42, at a bar last July, and the two went back to his house. When Young began talking about her boyfriend, he shot her in the leg with a rifle.

Walker states that he sought to help her bandage the wound, but Young sprayed him with mace and tried to run away. Walker then shot Young again, and then took a chainsaw to her dead body and burned the remains.

“The fact that this happened to this particular individual is because number one she reminded me a lot of my ex–wife and others I’ve been with. A liar, a dope fiend, and a ****, so yes I’m not sorry, I have nothing to be sorry about,” he told the courtroom this week.

Young’s family members were present to hear Walker’s words, and were disgusted both at his lack of remorse and his characterization of Young.

“He stands there with a smirk on his face,” Young’s father, David Bentler, said, according to WTOL-TV. “That is not right, and they need to get ready to bring the death penalty back in Michigan. I’m going to try somewhere and somehow to get someone to help me for my daughter and other victims that are out there. … This has to stop.”

“I’m on medication for dealing with losing my daughter to your cold–hearted senseless murderous act,” also lamented the woman’s mother, Gail Walker. “I have nightmares about her dying—how she suffered until her death and how you killed her and what she probably felt in all that was coming right up to the moment of her death.”

Walker was sentenced to 45 to 70 years behind bars after accepting a plea agreement.

Jesus explained in Mark 7: 20-23 that man’s sins begin in the heart and proceed outward to their words and actions.

“That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man,” the Scripture reads. “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride [and] foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

DISTURBING VIDEO: Georgia mom, daughter attacked over cold chicken

SAVANNAH, Georgia (KRON) — A Georgia restaurant owner and her teenage daughter were beaten up by a couple, and it was all caught on camera.

And the attack all started over cold chicken.

The video is disturbing.

The owner of a Qwik Chick restaurant, Jeanette Norris, says the incident happened Thursday. A couple went to her stand and complained about their food being cold.

After a few minutes back and forth, Jeanette says she refunded their money, but then she says the couple went crazy. They started cussing and beating down the window.

Norris went outside to tell them police were on the way when the woman started punching and slapping her in the face.

That’s when her daughter got out of the truck to help, and the husband punched the teen right in the face.

“One of my employees yelled, ‘He’s got her. He’s got her,’ and that’s when I realized he had hit her,” Norris said. “Who does that? Who punches a child like she’s a grown man standing there? He needs putting under the jail!”

“The camera surveillance footage that we put out tells it all. That’s just brutality,” Baxley Police Chief James Godfrey said.

The suspects in the case are Eric and Latasha Smith. They face several felony warrants.

Norris suffered a broken nose and two black eyes.

And her daughter got a black eye.

ICE COLD: Florida Teens Film And Mock Drowning Disabled Man While Never Coming To His Rescue
The minute-long video, which police called "extremely disturbing," found its way to social media over the weekend before ending up in the hands of detectives. The clip depicts the unidentified teens — ages 14 to 16 — off-camera, laughing as the man screamed off in the distance for help before going under in the murky water just after noon July 9 off Plaza Parkway. There were no calls to 911 from the teens.

7/21/17

Police and prosecutors say little can be done legally after the revelation that a group of teens filmed the dying moments of a 32-year-old disabled man last week, with the teens mocking, cursing and laughing while the man drowned in a fenced-off pond.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,” 2 Timothy 3:1-3 (KJV)

EDITOR’S NOTE: We live in a virtual reality society that has completely made us numb to the actual pain and suffering of our fellow human beings. Case in point is today’s story of a group of Florida teens who found it to be entertaining to watch a disabled man drown in a lake without ever feeling the need to attempt to save him or even call 911. Instead they sat back, verbally insulted the drowning man, and filmed it on their cell phones to share on social media. Truly a taste of things to come of how the world will act in the time of Jacob’s trouble.

The Brevard County State Attorney’s Office released the video to FLORIDA TODAY and called the incident a “tragedy” and said the teens’ lack of action had “no moral justification” but added that the teens do not appear to have violated any laws.

Breaking: California just made it easier to infect other people

California has become the first state to officially outlaw the instinct for self-preservation. If someone knowingly infects someone else with HIV, it's no longer a crime in the state. According to the L.A. Times, Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill Friday that lowers from a felony to a misdemeanor the crime of knowingly exposing a sexual partner to HIV without disclosing the infection. "The measure also applies to those who give blood without telling the blood bank that they are HIV-positive."

Chicago Woman Pushers Stranger Onto Train Tracks Because She was Having a Bad Day

A Chicago woman who said she was having a bad day was arrested for attempted murder for pushing a stranger onto the city’s electrified train tracks on Friday.

Chicago Police arrested Wilma Maxey, 57, for pushing a woman she did not know onto the CTA’s train tracks at a North Rogers Park train station, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The suspect told police she was “having a bad day” and “wanted to kill someone” because her bank account had not cleared her to access a sum of cash she was waiting to spend.

Maxey was at the Mores Avenue train stop just before 7:00 a.m. on March 2 when she saw a 66-year-old woman walking down the platform. Police say Maxey then stood up from her bench, walked over to the victim, shoved the woman off the platform and down onto the train tracks. Maxey then allegedly sat back down on the bench, where police found her after being called to the scene by a witness.

One witness tried to help the victim who was knocked unconscious after falling to the tracks, police said. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and was treated for a skull fracture, brain contusions, and an injured jaw.

The suspect was seen sitting calmly on the bench and was arrested without incident.

Maxey was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and ordered held without bail. Maxey claimed she receives Social Security disability checks for a mental illness causing a judge to sign a mental healthcare hold on her.

Abortion Activist To Her Abortionist: Thank You for Aborting My Baby

The abortion industry has managed to convince too many women that they need to abort their unborn babies if they want to live successful lives.

Thus, Bustle writer Amanda Chatel penned a thank you column to her abortionist for killing her unborn child in 2005 and, in her mind, giving her the chance to pursue her career and travel the world.

“I have the life I have today because of my abortion,” Chatel wrote. “And, of all the choices I’ve made in my life, my abortion is definitely one of the best. I do not regret it; I’ll never regret it.”

Chatel had an abortion in March 2005 after admittedly being irresponsible about taking her birth control pills. She did not discover she was pregnant until about 11 weeks. By that time, her unborn baby already had a heartbeat and brain waves. He or she already may have experienced hiccups or even sucked their thumbs.

Having recently moved to New York City to pursue a writing career, Chatel said she quickly decided to have an abortion. She said she felt so groggy after her abortion that she never got the chance to thank the abortionist or nurse who calmed her fears before she went through with the abortion.

Remembering that day, Chatel said she was afraid that the abortion clinic nurses were judging her and asked them if they were.

“‘Of course not,’ I remember her saying. ‘This is your right, your decision, and I’m not in the position to judge what a woman decides to do with her body.’ I will remember those words for as long as I live,” she wrote.

Chatel thanked the nurse for showing her respect and the abortionist for “her career,” claiming it never would have been possible if they hadn’t killed her unborn baby.

“Had I decided not to terminate, there’s no way in hell my career would have ever come to fruition. I would have had to move back to my parents’ house, gotten a job there, and kissed my dreams goodbye,” she wrote.

Click here to sign up for pro-life news alerts from LifeNews.com

She concluded:

Since my abortion, I’ve seen my career as a writer take off. I’m not only fortunate to write for Bustle, but I’ve seen my work in other publications and on other sites, too. I’ve been married. I’ve loved, I’ve lost. I’ve traveled to 33 countries. I’ve seen Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia at dawn. (Which I highly recommend.) I’ve swam with sharks in Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve been to Tokyo during cherry blossom season. My life is beautiful. Even on days when I’m not feeling so great — as the grey days of winter tend to do that — I’m grateful for who I am, where I’ve been, and the experiences that have enriched my life. None of this would have been possible had I not terminated my pregnancy.

Chatel said she has plans to volunteer at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, too. All – supposedly – because she sacrificed her own baby’s life.

Her letter was full of shallow praise and happiness, but it truly was a tragedy to read about someone who so fully bought into the deception that women are not strong enough or capable enough to bear children and achieve their dreams, that women must kill their own children to compete with men.

Pro-life advocates believe women can do both, and provide them with the support and encouragement they and their babies need. Every human being deserves to be encouraged and supported, to be told that they can, to be lifted up, to be valued.

'I Just Got Rid of It': Colorado Woman Accused of Tossing Newborn Over Fence Onto Neighbor's Deck

A judge has denied bond for a Colorado woman who is accused of throwing her newborn baby over a fence, where he or she then landed on the neighbor’s deck and died there.

According to reports, Camille Wasinger-Konrad, 23, claims she didn’t know she was pregnant until she woke up on Jan. 2 with painful cramps and “[t]he baby just came out.”

Wasinger-Konrad then covered the baby’s mouth so her landlord’s family wouldn’t hear the crying and carried the child into the back yard, where, after 10 minutes of deliberation, she threw the newborn over a nine-foot fence into the neighbor’s yard.

Fox 31 Denver reports that police testified that blood smears indicate that the baby apparently bounced off a railing on the neighbor’s deck and the back of a chair before landing on the deck.

“I just got rid of it,” Wasinger-Konrad allegedly told detectives.

The neighbor, Jeanette Barich, told police that she went on her deck to use the hot tub when she saw her dog sniffing what looked like a baby. She immediately brought the dead child inside, umbilical cord still attached, and called 911.

Police searched the area and found a bloodied shower curtain in a garbage can outside the home where Wasinger-Konrad lived.

Douglas County Detective Adam Moorman told reporters that he spoke to Wasinger-Konrad, but she acted at first as if he didn’t know why he was there. When asked if her DNA would match the baby found on the neighbor’s deck, Wasinger-Konrad allegedly replied, “Well, the thing is that I don’t want to get in trouble.”

She then admitted the truth, explaining what she had done.

Wasinger-Konrad was arrested and charged with first degree murder and tampering with evidence. A judge has denied bond, and Wasinger-Konrad will have her DNA tested and face arraignment on May 22.

As previously reported, in an introductory lecture to his course on obstetrics in 1854, Philadelphia doctor Hugh Lennox Hodge lamented that even the mothers of his day were lacking of natural affection toward their own children and sought out means to kill them.

“They seem not to realize that the being within them is indeed animate, that is, in verity, a human being—body and spirit—that it is of importance, that its value is inestimable, having reference to this world and the next,” he said. “They act with as much indifference as if the living, intelligent, immortal existence lodged within their organs were of no more value than the bread eaten, or the common excretions of the system.”

“We can bear testimony that in some instances, the woman who has been well educated, who occupies high stations in society, whose influence over others is great, and whose character has not been impugned, will deliberately resort to any and every measure which may effectively destroy her unborn offspring,” Hodge sorrowed.

“[S ]he recklessly and boldly adopts measures, however severe and dangerous, for the accomplishment of her unnatural, her guilty purpose … that she may be delivered of [a child] for which she has no desire, and whose birth and appearance she dreads.”

Ray Comfort's new movie 'solves' the school shooting riddle
'The answer to the problems in this nation is …

When a Christian evangelist asks you a question, any question, the answer always is “Jesus,” right?

Probably so.

But the question evangelist Ray Comfort poses in his new movie from Living Waters University, “School Shootings: The cause and the cure in less than 20 minutes … for those who want to know,” is a little more complicated.

Comfort is the brash filmmaker who confronts Americans where they live, in this case California.

He’s noted for projects such as “Hitler, God and the Bible,” “You Can lead An Atheist to Evidence, But You Can’t Make Him Think,” “Nothing Created Everything” and “God Doesn’t Believe in Atheists.”

He has also done “The Way of the Master” television show, and he has never been one to miss an opportunity ask people about Jesus.

The movie is part of a new series he has created, and it wasn’t planned to be released just yet.

But then the school shooting happened Friday in Santa Fe, Texas.

Ten dead, 10 injured. Correction, Comfort said: “ANOTHER 10 dead, and ANOTHER 10 injured, as school shootings have been erupting with too much regularity.”

What do YOU think? What’s your solution to school shootings? Sound off in today’s WND poll.

Comfort told WND, “It is because of this that we decided to release our new film today.”

“The world doesn’t know why this is happening. We do,” he said. “Watch it freely. Share it immediately. Pray God uses it.”

As Comfort asks people on the street what is evil. Is someone who kills school children evil?

Are rapists evil?

The answers are what would be expected: Someone like that has a mental health problem. He’s sick.

Should such an offender be executed?

That’s a hard one.

Comfort presses for what people truly believe. He cites news reports of a previous school shooter.

“He said he was an atheist and that his life had no purpose, and other peoples’ lives had no purpose,” Comfort said.

“When nothing is evil, anything is acceptable,” he said.

On his YouTube page, Comfort said the answers are there, “for those who want to know.”

And he has more at LivingWaters.com.

He asks people on the street if they think about their own deaths.

“Shot in the back. This is California,” he pointed out.

Father Sentenced After Rubbing Hot Sauce, Cayenne Pepper in Infant Daughter's Eyes, Devising Ways to Torture Child

A Minnesota father has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison after allegedly rubbing hot sauce and cayenne pepper in his infant daughter’s mouth, nose and eyes, and tormenting her in other ways, because he was tired of her crying and knew that she was too young to tell anyone what he was doing to her.

Shawn Foltz, 42, was sentenced on Wednesday to 30 months behind bars after pleading guilty in June to third-degree felony assault of a victim under the age of four. He must serve at least 20 months under the plea agreement and will be eligible for supervised release for the final 10.

According to reports, Foltz is accused of abusing his two month old daughter in various ways, sitting at work and devising different schemes to torture her out of his frustration with her crying.

He allegedly told police that he put hot sauce or cayenne pepper in her mouth, nose and eyes, snapped a towel at her face, threw a small firework at her head, hit her bottom with a wooden spoon, dunked her in hot and cold water, and held her mouth shut while pinching her nose to block her airway.

The abuse took place over a month and a half, Foltz said.

The situation came to a breaking point in May 2017 when Foltz sent his wife a text message that included a photograph of the baby, whose eyes were swollen and she was foaming at the mouth.

He claimed that the matter was not as bad as it looked, but the mother called for an ambulance, and the child was transported to the hospital. Police were called to the scene for suspected child abuse.

According to Valley News Live, Foltz said that the baby was being fussy while trying to feed her, and as he couldn’t get the bib on her, he pressed down on her chest with his fingers, leaving red marks. He stated that the bottle of milk also spilled onto the towel, so in his frustration, he snapped the baby in the face with it repeatedly.

Foltz’ wife has since filed for divorce, and told the court this past week, “I felt like I did not know the man I was married to.” Their now four-year-old son, who witnessed some of the abuse, also sees a therapist for emotional harm. Foltz allegedly falsely blamed some of the abuse on the boy.

The little girl is now safe and sound, and healthy.

2 Timothy 3 warns that in the last days, “men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…”

Jesus also taught in Mark 7 that evil comes from within the heart of man, and is why men must be regenerated by the Spirit of God.

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness—all these evil things come from within and defile the man,” He declared.

Liberal Media Tries to Remake Christianity In Its Own Image

On Wednesday, the Reverend Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the global charity Samaritan's Purse, defended traditional Christian teaching on homosexual activity. His comments unleashed a firestorm of media controversy, with major media figures suggesting that Graham is not really Christian because he supports President Donald Trump and encouraged South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg to repent of his homosexual activity.

Graham explicitly attacked Buttigieg, who had said, "God doesn't have a political party."

"Presidential candidate & South Bend Mayor [Pete Buttigieg] is right—God doesn’t have a political party. But God does have commandments, laws & standards He gives us to live by. God doesn’t change. His Word is the same yesterday, today & forever," Graham tweeted. "Mayor Buttigieg says he’s a gay Christian. As a Christian I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized. The Bible says marriage is between a man & a woman—not two men, not two women."

Graham concluded with one last definitive statement. "The core of the Christian faith is believing and following Jesus Christ, who God sent to be the Savior of the world—to save us from sin, to save us from hell, to save us from eternal damnation," he tweeted.

On Thursday, MSNBC Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough told Graham to "just shut up." He called the minister "a disgrace for normalizing Donald Trump's behavior."

"Now suddenly Franklin Graham's talking about lifestyles and sinning and a guy who's gone through a very difficult personal journey to figure out who he really is?" Scarborough asked, dumbfounded. "Because it's not a lifestyle choice, and anybody who's heard Pete Buttigieg talk knows that."

Following Scarborough, presidential biographer Jon Meacham accused Graham of "practicing selective self-righteousness and selective scriptural choices." Meacham blasted the reverend's statements as "extreme," "given where the country is on these issues."

Meacham went on to describe a kind of emergent revelation, suggesting that the Bible's clear condemnation of homosexual activity as sin has been overruled by modern "experience."

"One of the points of God’s universe is that it does, in fact, reveal itself and you’re able to change and grow and react to shifting data," the biographer argued. "Reverend Graham is actually disproving that, he’s actually going the other way." He accused Graham of placing "the pursuit of power ahead of religious truth."

Meacham accused Graham of making it harder to preach the gospel. "But making statements like Graham made is exactly why it gets ever harder to communicate the gospel because people feel that you are simply another interest group pointing fingers instead of a church extending a hand," he concluded.

Scarborough called the evangelical community "my community," and condemned Graham as "the most unworthy of vessels" — despite the fact that Graham's charity, Samaritan's Purse, has served millions across the world and is often the first on the scene to help in the wake of a hurricane.

The MSBNC host accused the evangelist of applying a double standard by saying that "character matters" with Bill Clinton but not with Donald Trump.

Scarborough concluded by suggesting that Jesus would not have been firm on the issue of homosexuality. "You look at all of those little red words in the New Testament, and Jesus doesn't talk about it. If Jesus doesn't talk about it, I don't obsess over it."

Over on CNN, Jake Tapper interviewed W. Kamau Bell, host of CNN's show United Shades of America. Tapper also attacked Graham for hypocrisy, but Bell went further.

"Unfortunately, preachers like Franklin Graham are the face of Christianity right now," Bell lamented. He insisted "there are certainly LGBTQ+ people who are also good Christians," and insisted that "Jesus was an immigrant," but conservative Christians are "hating on immigrants."

"It's like people are talking about different Jesuses," Tapper suggested.

At that point, an emboldened Bell accused Graham of creating his own Jesus. He suggested Christians who disagree with his identity politics mindset are following a "Jesus of your own creation, which is exactly what preachers like Franklin Graham are doing. They've created a Jesus in their own head."

"Jesus, as I understand, was about love and accepting people, even those who are defined as the lesser of us," the United Shades host argued. He even accused Graham of "actually threatening the LGBTQ+ members in his church, the gay youth," effectively pushing them to commit suicide.

By preaching against homosexual activity and transgender identity, "you're actually threatening the health and well-being of members of the community who are LGBTQ+ who feel not accepted," Bell claimed.

The backlash to Graham's comments — and the rapid embrace of Pete Buttigieg as an authoritative Christian voice — illustrates the rush among liberals to remake Christianity in their own image.

In writing about Buttigieg and the "burgeoning Christian left," CNN analyst Kirsten Powers lamented that "nonconservative Christians generally do not receive the same level of news media attention as the religious right, despite their deep understanding of Scripture and thriving faith traditions. Because most journalists are secular, they can be gullible in looking to the religious right as arbiters of biblical interpretation, especially as it relates to hot-button cultural and political issues. Because of this, many Americans aren’t even aware of the rich tradition of progressive Christianity."

Liberal Christianity does have a long tradition, but the kind of "progressive Christianity" Powers and Buttigieg are supporting is arguably not Christianity at all.

Buttigieg has said that when Vice President Mike Pence sees the mayor's homosexual activity as sinful, his "quarrel ... is with my creator." In other words, God made Buttigieg the way he is, and God implicitly approves of Buttigieg's homosexual activity.

There is nothing in scripture to support this. In fact, LGBT activists quickly admit that there are "clobber passages," in which Bible authors clearly condemn homosexual activity as sin. Liberal theologians attempt to twist the clear words of scripture to suggest that consensual homosexual sex is not forbidden as sin, but their approach is a lie.

In fact, many facets of "progressive" Christianity are outright lies. In condemning Franklin Graham, W. Kamau Bell claimed that Jesus Christ was an "immigrant." This is blatantly false. When Jesus was a baby, Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt to escape the command of King Herod that babies like Jesus be put to death. But Mary and Joseph never intended to settle in Egypt. The Holy Family returned after Herod's death. They may have been refugees, but they were never immigrants.

Similarly, it is blatantly false to suggest that Graham was cherry-picking verses to condemn homosexual activity, or to suggest — as Joe Scarborough did — that Jesus never spoke about homosexuality, so it must not have been important to Him.

Jesus wholeheartedly embraced the Old Testament law, and the book of Leviticus clearly condemns homosexual activity as sinful. The Bible defines marriage as the union of man and woman, idealized in the story of Adam and Eve. Jesus upholds this sexual morality by quoting Genesis while discouraging divorce (Matthew 19:5, Mark 10:7).

If Jesus had departed from the Old Testament sexual morality, it would have been noteworthy and the gospel writers would have commented on it. As it stands, the letters of Paul clearly condemn homosexual activity, suggesting that the early church, just like the Old Testament, considered homosexual activity sinful.

Yet massaging scripture or outright rejecting its meaning is common among "progressive Christians." I was baptized into the Episcopal Church, Buttigieg's denomination. My church, Falls Church Anglican, left the Episcopal Church after that denomination rejected Jesus's clear teaching that Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6). The Episcopal Church rejects the Bible's teaching on sexuality, and it rejects the Bible's teaching on the uniqueness of Jesus's redemption.

Jesus as the only path to God is central to Christian teaching. In fact, the historical bodily resurrection of Jesus is so fundamental that St. Paul wrote, "if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. ... And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. ... If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied" (1 Corinthians 15:14, 17, 19).

Yet liberal Christians — increasingly embraced by the media — say that Christians do not have to believe in Jesus' literal Resurrection. Last week, The New York Times' Nicholas Kristof interviewed Serene Jones, president of Union Theological Seminary. In that interview, both Kristof and Jones said they do not believe in the Resurrection of Jesus, but claimed that they are still Christians.

"Happy Easter, Reverend Jones! To start, do you think of Easter as a literal flesh-and-blood resurrection? I have problems with that," Kristof began.

"When you look in the Gospels, the stories are all over the place. There’s no resurrection story in Mark, just an empty tomb. Those who claim to know whether or not it happened are kidding themselves. But that empty tomb symbolizes that the ultimate love in our lives cannot be crucified and killed," Jones said.

Her suggestion that the Resurrection is not clearly told in the gospels is ridiculous, because the only gospel that does not explicitly state the fact is Mark, and the letters of the apostles clearly show that the early Church believed in a bodily Resurrection. Without that flesh-and-blood event, any symbolism is ultimately meaningless.

Yet Jones insisted that "the message of Easter is that love is stronger than life or death. That’s a much more awesome claim than that they put Jesus in the tomb and three days later he wasn’t there. For Christians for whom the physical resurrection becomes a sort of obsession, that seems to me to be a pretty wobbly faith. What if tomorrow someone found the body of Jesus still in the tomb? Would that then mean that Christianity was a lie? No, faith is stronger than that."

To be perfectly frank, the Apostle Paul is clear: Yes, if it could be proved that Jesus did not rise from the dead, Christianity would be a lie. It is not wise to believe the doctrines of a charlatan, and if Jesus did not rise from the dead, the apostles would be charlatans. (As it turns out, almost every apostle went to his painful death because he refused to deny the Resurrection and the lordship of Jesus, even though that meant torture and death.)

Jones clearly rejects the fundamental premise of Christianity, yet she described herself and Kristof as Christians. This perfectly illustrates the redefinition of Christianity.

Jake Tapper was correct: "progressive Christians" and biblical Christians are talking about two different Jesuses. But one of them is actually the Jesus of the Bible, and the other is more a social justice warrior than a savior. Note which Jesus elicits praise from MSNBC, CNN, and The New York Times, and which is hated by the world (John 15:18).

Franklin Graham may go a little easy on Trump, but he is facing this kind of vitriol for preaching the counter-cultural message of Jesus Christ, and a servant is not greater than his master.
