September 24, 2017, 10:45:16 pm Psalm 51:17 says: The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rulebook. It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Mark 14:38 "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak." KJV

I picked this verse because it says a lot. First Christ gives two things to do WATCH and PRAY. He gives the result of not doing so with " lest ye enter into temption", and then tells you the cause which is our spirit is always willing but our flesh is weak.

There is a war between our flesh and spirit and if we are not watching and praying and earnestly seeking the Lord we can and will give into the flesh which results in sinne every time. We need to start and end our day in prayer. Prayer is our communication and personal time with God, and along side prayer wenshould be reading the scriptures so we can also extend our personal time win God by allowing God to speak to us from His scripture. When we take this approach we winbe better equipped in dealing with the battle that we go through daily with the flesh and the spirit. Look at the similar statement Paul made in Romans:

Romans 7:25 "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

For more reading concerning the spirit and the flesh read Galatians 5:16-26, and may God bless you with this and may He bless you throughout the day and remember have your daily communication with your Saviour and let Him guide your steps and allow Him to show you His will because when we stop communicating to the Master we will always fall and fail.

Matthew 19:26 "But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

In Christ,

I read once that "temptation" and "tribulation" are very similar and that you could replace "temptation" in Mark 14:38 with "tribulation" which gives another angle to the verse.

Some more about watching in the Authorized King James Bible:

"I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top." (Psalms 102:7).

"Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:33-36).

"Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." (1 Corinthians 16:13).

"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time." (Colossians 4:2-5).

"Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober." (1 Thessalonians 5:6).

"But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry." (2 Timothy 4:5).

"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." (1 Peter 4:7).

"Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee." (Revelation 3:3).

An interesting view. None the less I believe the correct word was used. If God wanted to use tribulation there it would be there I imagine.

His operative words are "could replace", not "should". I don't think he is questioning the use of the word, but pointing out that doctrinally speaking, both temptation and tribulation can result. We suffer chastening of the Father, right? We get out of line spiritually, and He will remind us to walk in the spirit and not the flesh. I think he means that tribulation(chastening) can happen when we aren't watching and praying, which is walking in the spirit.

"And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch." Mark 13:37 (KJB)

"Pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJB)

Ok, and understood however still standing in my operative words that the words used are the correct words and if another word had been needed it would have been listed instead.

Sometimes when we go substituting our words for what scripture lists (God's Words), we end up changing context of the passage.......notice the sometimes. It happens.

Thank you Jesus.

Agreed. Temptation is the word God wanted to use, but I see his point.
