Obama Admin Spending Billions on 'Military-Style' Weaponry for Non-Military Agencies
But you can't have any.

A new  Open the Books report has uncovered the billions being spent by the Obama administration for guns, ammunition, and other military-style equipment for use by non-military agencies -- a stark contrast to the gun control narrative pushed by Democrats saying no one outside the military should own military-style weapons.

Between fiscal year 2006 and 2014, sixty-seven "non-military federal agencies spent $1.48 billion on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment," according to the report. That's a jump of 104% from FY2006 to FY2011 across several federal agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration, the Small Business Administration, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Education, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and the United States Mint, among others.

The IRS alone spent $11 million on guns and ammo. And right now, the Department of Homeland Security has a bullet reserve of 160 million rounds (22 months-worth), having purchased 1.7 billion bullets since 2004, with hundreds of millions of hollow-point rounds.

Open the Books is motivated by one simple reason: "Taxpayers have a right to know how their money is being spent." The government watchdog group has full details in its report about "The militarization of general and administrative agencies."

It's an interesting time for this report to emerge as the national narrative coming from Washington is that ordinary citizens have no business owning "military-style" weapons, like the controversial AR-15, the so-called "weapon of war." Thankfully, this report uncovers the "guns for me, not for thee" attitude that permeates the Obama administration.
