19 Statistics About Abortion That Every American Should Know

Every single day a tragedy greater than 9/11 takes place, but hardly anyone is talking about it anymore.  On September 11th, 2001 more than 3,000 Americans lost their lives when three giant steel frame skyscrapers were brought down in New York City.  That was a great evil, but so is the fact that we purposely kill more than 3,000 of our own babies every single day in this country.  The fact that society has generally accepted the practice of abortion does not lessen the evil that we have done one bit.  Today, the United States has the highest abortion rate in the entire western world, and hardly anyone makes a fuss about it anymore.  In fact, a lot of Americans laugh about it, and some even do comedy skits about it.  We are so casual about abortion these days that one university is actually recruiting teen girls to have abortions for a “scientific study” that is being conducted.  But someday we will be judged for what we have done.  We have killed more than 56 million of our own babies, and their blood is crying out for justice.  In the end, we will reap what we have sown.  The following are 19 statistics about abortion that every American show know.  Please share these numbers with everyone that you can…

#1 In a massacre that is almost unspeakable, more than 56 million American babies have been murdered in the United States since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973.

#2 When you total up all forms of abortion, including those caused by the abortion drug RU 486, the grand total comes to more than a million abortions performed in the United States every single year.

#3 The number of American babies killed by abortion each year is roughly equal to the number of U.S. military deaths that have occurred in all of the wars that the United States has ever been involved in combined.

#4 Approximately 3,000 Americans lost their lives as a result of the destruction of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11.  Every single day, more than 3,000 American babies are killed by abortion.

#5 About one-third of all American women will have had an abortion by the age of 45.

#6 Approximately 47 percent of the women that get an abortion each year in the United States have also had a previous abortion.

#7 It has been reported that a staggering 41 percent of all New York City pregnancies end in abortion.

#8 Approximately 78 percent of all abortions in New York City are performed on African-American and Hispanic babies.

#9 According to Pastor Clenard Childress, approximately 52 percent of all African-American pregnancies now end in abortion.

#10 Most women that get abortions in the United States claim to be Christian.  Protestant women get 42 percent of all abortions and Catholic women get 27 percent of all abortions.

#11 About 18 percent of all abortions in the United States each year are performed on teenagers.

#12 One very shocking study found that 86 percent of all abortions are done for the sake of convenience.

#13 According to the Guttmacher Institute, the average cost of a first trimester abortion at the ten week mark is $451.

#14 Many insurance companies now prefer abortion because the average cost of a ****l birth with no complications in the United States is now over $9,000.

#15 During fiscal year 2014, Planned Parenthood snuffed the life out of 327,653 babies.

#16 Planned Parenthood specifically targets the poor.  A staggering 72 percent of Planned Parenthood’s “customers” have incomes that are either equal to or beneath 150 percent of the federal poverty level.

#17 There are 30 Planned Parenthood executives that make more than $200,000 a year.  A few of them actually make more than $300,000 a year.

#18 Planned Parenthood gets more than 400 million dollars from the federal government each year.

#19 Overall, there have been well over a billion abortions performed around the world since 1980.

Every single year, both Democrats and Republicans vote to shower Planned Parenthood with hundreds of millions of dollars.

We are told that this must be done because of all the “good” the organization does.

But the truth is that this has been a despicably evil organization from the very beginning.  The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, once said the following….

“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

Does that sound “good” to you?

And in a 1922 book entitled “Woman, Morality, and Birth Control”, Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger wrote the following…

“Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.”

That is an unbelievably evil statement.  And yet this woman is constantly being showered with praise in our public schools, in the lecture halls of our colleges and universities, and even in the halls of the U.S. Congress.

Sometimes it takes a child to show us the foolishness of our ways.  I want to share with you a letter that an 11-year-old girl named Samantha sent to her state legislators.  It is written very simply, but it makes more sense than 95 percent of the stuff that is written about abortion by adults…

But you know what?

For writing such a letter, there is a good chance that Samantha will be labeled as a “potential terrorist”.

Yes, this is actually true.  A Department of Homeland Security report that was released in January 2012 states that anyone that is “anti-abortion” is a potential terrorist.  And since that time, there have been other government reports that have also identified “anti-abortion” protesters as potential threats to national security.

But despite all of the posturing and all of the rhetoric, everyone knows deep down that an abortion kills a living human being.

Even Barack Obama knows this.  Just consider a comment that he made during one recent speech…

“Too many women face unnecessary difficulties on the job, like the difficulty of being paid less than a man for doing the same work,” said Obama. “That’s a difficulty. Or being reprimanded or fired for taking too many bathroom breaks when you’re pregnant. Clearly that’s a man making that decision because they don’t have five pounds of kicks pressing down on their bladder.”

Yes, we all know that there is a little baby in there that moves and kicks and feels pain.

But we just keep killing our precious little babies anyway.

So what does a nation that kills 56 million of its own people deserve?

What kind of judgment would fit such a crime?

Evidence Mounts for Viability of Babies not Considered Legally 'Human'

A new study published Sept. 8 found that more infants born before 28 weeks gestation are surviving without disease or other complications compared to 20 years ago. The findings cast further doubt on the adequacy of the viability standard for protecting the unborn.

The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, examined 35,000 premature births between 1993 and 2012 at 26 U.S. centers participating in the Neonatal Research Network. It broadens a previous study published in May that found an increased survival rate for infants born at 22 weeks. The May study examined 5,000 infants born at 27 weeks or earlier between 2006 and 2011.

More than 450,000 infants are born prematurely in the United States every year. While the previous study showed improvement in survival rates for infants born at 22 weeks gestation, the latest study shows a greater upward trend. In 1993, only 52 percent of infants born at 24 weeks survived. But in 2012, 65 percent survived. And the percentage increase in healthy premature infants is even more significant: 47 percent of infants born at 27 weeks in 2012 survived without major illnesses compared to 29 percent in 1993.

“Extremely pre-term babies born before the 28th week are now surviving in greater numbers, and their outcomes are better when you look at the illnesses they have” in neo-natal intensive care units, Rosemary Higgins told The Washington Post. Higgins oversees the Neonatal Research Network, a program funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.

Though prematurely born infants still face respiratory struggles due to under-developed lungs, medical advances have improved their chances of survival. More doctors prescribe antenatal steroids to women who may give birth prematurely. The steroids help stimulate an infant’s lung development. In 1993, only 24 percent of women at risk for a premature delivery were prescribed the steroids, compared to about 87 percent in 2012, according to the study.

The increase in premature infant survival also coincides with increasing cesarean sections, the authors said. Physicians may be more likely to perform the surgery than before, which results in a less traumatic birth for the infant, Higgins said.

Despite the new research, babies are still only legally considered viable at 24 weeks. But Dr. Edward Bell, co-author of the May study, told The New York Times that 22 weeks should be the new viability standard. “I guess we would say that these babies deserve a chance,” he said.

In July, a federal appeals court struck down a North Dakota law prohibiting abortions after detecting a fetal heartbeat, usually around six weeks gestation. Though the court struck down the law, the justices called the viability standard “unsatisfactory.” It strips states of their right to determine their own standards for protecting the unborn and fails to consider advances in fetal medicine, the justices wrote.

“As IVF and similar technologies improve, we can reasonably expect the amount of time an ‘embryonic unborn child’ may survive outside the womb will only increase,” the ruling states. “The viability standard will prove even less workable in the future.”

In 1986, government scientists wrote a letter to the British journal Lancet and acknowledged that abortion is a cause of breast cancer.  They wrote, "Induced abortion before first term pregnancy increases the risk of breast cancer."  (Lancet, 2/22/86, p. 436)

As of 2006, eight medical organizations recognize that abortion raises a woman's risk for breast cancer, independently of the risk of delaying the birth of a first child (a secondary effect that all experts already acknowledge).  An additional medical organization, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, issued a statement in 2003 calling on doctors to inform patients about a "highly plausible" relationship between abortion and breast cancer.  General counsel for that medical group wrote an article for its journal warning doctors that three women (two Americans, one Australian) successfully sued their abortion providers for neglecting to disclose the risks of breast cancer and emotional harm, although none of the women had developed the disease.

Medical Groups Recognizing Link

A list of medical organizations recognizing a link between abortion and
breast cancer is provided below. Telling women their abortions are related
to increased breast cancer risk is clearly not good for cancer fundraising
businesses, the abortion industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Medical
groups whose doctors do not perform abortions or refer women for abortions
will be among the first to recognize that abortion raises a woman's breast
cancer risk.

Statement Concerning the Link between Induced Abortion and Breast Cancer, R. L. Walley. FRCSC., FRCOG., MPH Executive Director and Honourary Research Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

"MaterCare International an international group of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists was presented with the evidence of the link between abortion and breast cancer at its international conference in Rome in October 2004 by Dr Joel Brind's research group.  The medical explanation and the epidemiological evidence convinced our  group that there is a significant increase in breast cancer risk after induced abortion, especially before the first full term pregnancy.  This evidence has been denied by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) and other researchers.  Recently ten studies have been published in an attempt to discredit Brind's conclusion.

"In turn Brind has examined these ten studies and in a peer reviewed paper published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons (Vol 10, No 4, Winter 2005, <http://www.jpands.org>) he  has shown that they have serious methodological weaknesses and flaws and therefore do not invalidate the conclusion that there is a increased risk of breast cancer.

"Women have a basic right to know of this increased risk of breast cancer and it is unacceptable that the information should be denied to them by the medical and cancer research  establishments. MaterCare International as an organisation of women's health specialists  recognies its responsibilities in this matter and will do all it can to publish this evidence."

Planned Parenthood’s activities increase breast cancer rate more than anything else Komen Foundation does decreases it. For Komen to give into PP’s campaign of lies and pressure to give them money would be like Mothers Against Drunk Driving letting Budweiser shake them down for funds.

Study: Abortion Increases Rate of Mental Health Disorders

It may be no surprise to pro-life advocates that a new study published in the July 2016 issue of the peer-reviewed journal Sage Open Medicine confirms women who have abortions run a significantly increased risk of mental health disorders and substance abuse. But the research offers an important boon to pro-life groups in the United States, where scientific evidence showing the harmful consequences of abortion for women has been scarce because available data is inconsistent and limited.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not require states to submit abortion data. Each state sets its own reporting laws and many don’t report at all. States that do provide information have no uniformity in the type of data they submit.

An extensive analysis of state abortion reporting, published by the Charlotte Lozier Institute in August 2016, found abortion reporting is weakest in states that rank highest in abortion rates, including New York, Maryland, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, Florida, and California.

Because researchers have no reliable way to track abortion information, most studies they conduct on the topic have been statistically flawed. In 2008, an American Psychological Association task force conducted an evaluation of the scientific studies on abortion and mental health difficulties published since 1989. They found the majority of studies suffered from severe methodological problems.

“None of the literature reviewed adequately addressed the prevalence of mental health problems among women in the United States who have had an abortion,” the group concluded.

But in the present study, Paul Sullins, an associate professor of sociology with the Catholic University of America, did not rely on spotty statistics from the CDC. Instead, he analyzed data collected from 8,005 women in the United States, ages 15 to 28, who participated in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health. The study followed these women over the course of 13 years.

Sullins analyzed statistics for four groups of women: those who had given birth, those who had a voluntary abortion, those who experienced an involuntary loss of pregnancy, and those who had never been pregnant. He compared the four groups for seven mental health issues: depression, anxiety disorder, suicidal ideation, nicotine dependence, alcohol abuse, illicit drug abuse, and cannabis abuse.

The results showed women who had abortions were at a 45 percent increased risk of subsequent mental health disorders. And women who gave birth had a 0.66 lower rate of mental health problems than any of the other three groups.

Pro-abortion activists often negate studies that link abortion with subsequent mental health difficulties by accusing the researchers of failing to consider factors that might cause a woman to seek abortion and might also predispose her to mental health problems. They cite such things as a prior history of mental illness, ****, intimate partner violence, and effects associated with any pregnancy, such as hormonal changes. But Sullins took these factors into consideration in his analysis and still found that, “of the four groups which comprise all the logically possible outcomes to pregnancy, only abortion was consistently associated with higher risk of mental disorder.”

The results of this study may have implications for American abortion laws. According to Sullins, not one single study has documented mental health benefits of having an abortion. But the federal government does not permit states to prohibit even late-term abortions if the abortion is deemed necessary to preserve the life or health, including mental health, of the mother.

“The assumed premise of these arguments is that procuring an abortion will result in less anxiety, constraint, pain, and mental distress than will bringing a pregnancy to term,” Sullins wrote. But the present study shows that premise isn’t supported by scientific evidence.

NPR: A Baby's Heartbeat Is Just 'Sounds From The Fetus'

As I drove past NPR’s building in Washington DC Tuesday night, the words scrolling across the neon ticker caught my attention: “Republican governor decided the time-limit measure is more likely to withstand legal challenges than a separate bill tied to sounds from the fetus,” it read.

Surely this descriptor — “bill tied to sounds from the fetus”– isn’t referencing the “heartbeat bill” Ohio Gov. John Kasich vetoed Tuesday, which limits abortion to roughly the first six weeks of a pregnancy, or before an unborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected via an ultrasound. NPR couldn’t possibly be so cowardly as to describe baby’s heartbeat inside the womb as “sounds from the fetus,” right?

Oh, but they are. A quick search on NPR’s site led me to this story about Kasich’s decision to sign a bill restricting abortion to the first 20 weeks of gestation. On the same day, the Republican governor vetoed the “so-called-heartbeat-ban” claiming that it wasn’t constitutionally sound, the story reads.

An excerpt of the story contains the phrase “sounds from the fetus” to describe a baby’s heartbeat, which you can see by clicking here or by checking out the screen grab below.

Come on, NPR. You ought to be better than this.

It’s time the media has an honest dialogue about what abortion is instead of couching it in sterile terms like “fetus,” “tissue,” or “sounds from the fetus.” Instead they ought to use terms like “baby,” “organs,” and “heartbeat,” because that’s what these things are. Euphemisms equal bias. With this description, NPR is putting its hand on the scale. NPR and other so-called objective media entities ought to be honest about what abortion is: the killing of an unborn child in the womb. To pretend that it’s this sterile medical procedure in which everyone benefits is a lie intended to mislead the public.

Americans aren’t dumb. They know exactly what abortion is, which is why 80 percent of Americans think abortion should be restricted to the first trimester. It’s why 78 percent of pregnant women decide against an abortion after seeing an ultrasound image of their child in the womb. Outlets like NPR ought not to be so dishonest about abortion or risk losing the trust of their readers even more than they already have.

You Just Can’t Make This Up: Planned Parenthood CEO Says We Believe Every Person Has a Right to Live

Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards sent out a memo today to supporters condemning the Trump administration’s decision to end DACA.
Cecile Richards says Planned Parenthood believes every person has the right to live.

This was an odd statement considering in 2015–16 the group carried out more than 328,000 abortions.

Life News reported:

Cecile Richards is upset that Trump ended DACA because the Planned Parenthood abortion business will get fewer customers as a result. She says she is “heartbroken” by the decision.

As everyone knows, the Planned Parenthood abortion company has a long history of preying on minorities to sell abortions. It has frequently located its abortion centers in historically minority neighborhoods in order to prey on Black and Hispanic women.

In an email sent to the abortion company’s supporters today, Richards indicated she is very upset that Trump for ending the DACA. The email makes it very clear that Planned Parenthood hopes to continue it’s attempt to keep Black and Hispanic women in its corner so it can sell them abortions down the road…

…Richards, as she is prone to do, offers one of her incredibly ironic statements. It appears she really never fully understands the words she is uttering in light ofher role presiding over the biggest abortion business in the world.

“Here at Planned Parenthood, we firmly believe that every person has the right to live, work, and raise a family freely and without the threat of deportation or separation,” she says.
