The article goes on to speculate that the fireworks had something to do with it. Doubt it, otherwise, reports would have showed it would have happened every year.

Dead blackbirds fall again in Arkansas town

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Thousands of dead blackbirds rained down on a town in central Arkansas last New Year's Eve after revelers set off fireworks that spooked them from their roost, and officials were reporting a similar occurrence Saturday as 2012 approached.

Police in Beebe said dozens of blackbirds had fallen dead, prompting officers to ban residents from shooting fireworks Saturday night. It wasn't immediately clear if fireworks were again to blame, but authorities weren't taking a chance.

Officer John Weeks said the first reports of "birds on the streets" came around 7 p.m. as residents celebrated the year's end with fireworks in their neighborhoods.

"We started shutting down fireworks," he said. "We're working on cleaning up the birds now."

20 tons of dead fish wash up on Norway beaches- cause of massive fishkill unknown

January 2, 2012 – NORWAY – The inhabitants of Troms could hardly believe their eyes on the morning of New Year’s Eve, a very large amount, an estimated 10 to 20 tons of dead herring washed up on the beach, writes Northern Lights. Tromsř city is the ninth largest urban area in Norway by population. The city is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude, due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream which originates at the tip of Florida. Various theories abound for the incident but no one knows for sure what’s happened in the popular hiking area in Nordreisa municipality. However, various theories have been tossed around, explains Jan-Petter Jorgensen (44), who stumbled upon the mass death in sight on the beach with his dog Molly. People say that something similar happened in the 80′s, and there is speculation among others on the river which flows into the ocean behind a promontory on the site, may have had something to do with it. Maybe the fish have been caught in a deprived oxygen environment, and then died of fresh water? Jorgensen estimates each individual fish to be of 100-150 grams, and that the total might be about up to 20 tons. Now he’s worried about what might happen if no one comes and removing carcasses. -Dagbladet -

Norwegian beach briefly carpeted with dead herring

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Tens of thousands of dead herring have carpeted a stretch of coast in northern Norway — and then disappeared again.

The fish appeared on New Year's Eve, leading to speculation that predators might have driven a huge school ashore or the fish could have been washed onto the beach by a powerful storm that hit Norway on Christmas Day.

Jens Christian Holst of Norway's Institute of Marine Research says a combination of several factors was the likely explanation.

Locals also started pondering how to clean up the estimated 20 tons of dead fish on the beach in Kvaenes, near Tromsoe, north of the Arctic Circle, before it decayed. But before they could start, the fish disappeared.

Holst said Tuesday the herrings have likely washed back into the North Sea.

Well yeah, that's the point - if "fireworks" was the case, then why did it happen in ONLY ONE town, and NOT all over the country? And this didn't happen in Beebe, AR UNTIL the last 2 years, so why didn't happen at all the previous many centuries? Roll Eyes

EXACTLY! The same thing I have pondered.

It's not like this was the first 4th and New Years they had fireworks. Until last time this happened, I had never heard of such a claim, ever. Never seen ANY reports over the years. NONE, till last year.

Something is definately going on. It may well be the government and their animal control policies that are killing "excess" species, but I'm not sure. There are articles and evidence the government does these kinds of things, so, if it looks like a pig!

Maybe this prophecy is being fulfilled...

Hos 4:1  Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Hos 4:2  By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
Hos 4:3  Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away
.

I dunno, but yes, there's HAARP, Blue Beam, secret projects, you name it by the government - sometimes when I read these passages, it makes me think how these things are caused b/c God has handed the rebellious and unbelieving to the sword of their enemies(as the OT prophecies talk about time and time again). Maybe these are the things the sword(ie-their enemies) would do? And not God directly himself?

Yeah, this is a recent thing, not something that has happened for centuries on end consistently.

That is some really good insight BA. I've pondered that as well. Something like "vessels fitted to destruction" are given over to do all kinds of evil, for the conviction of the wicked.

Yeah, I'm thinking that plays a big part in it.

Please read this excerpt from the FLorida petition to stop bioengineered mosquito releases (could explain die offs, also read about corn please):

http://www.change.org/petitions/oxitec-do-not-release-genetically-modified-mosquitoes-into-the-wilds-of-florida

Why This Is Important

Oxitec is planning to release a batch of genetically modified mosquitoes into the Florida Keys based on experiments they've previously conducted in both the Cayman Islands and Malaysia. The modifications of the mosquitoes include a gene that causes them to die before adulthood if they go without treatment from an antibiotic (tetracycline). When the GM insects mate with wild mosquitoes, the gene is passed on to the next generation, eventually wiping out the population of an entire species in the surrounding area. Not only does this disrupt the already fragile ecosystem of the Florida Everglades, but it's being done without the consent of the people already living there.
Oxitec is not required to inform the tens of thousands of people in southern Florida that a tampering of a major aspect of the natural order would take place right outside their front porch. Not only should the company be required to inform the people (with all the facts included) but garner majority consent from the population to conduct this dangerous and short-sighted experiment.
The possiblity of wiping out an entire insect species is high in this experiment and it could lead to the loss of the mammalian and marine life that feeds on the mosquitoes and their larvae. It isn't just the animals though; livelihoods of those who depend on the fish as a means to make a living could see their way of life destroyed by the loss of the insect species.

Friends of Earth have also released a great issue brief about the experiment. You can view the PDF

Dead fish reported in China’s Xijiang River: cause of fishkill unknown

January 10, 2012 – GUANGZHOU – A large number of fish were found dead Monday in a major river in the southern province of Guangdong, local authorities confirmed Tuesday. Floating fish were reported in a three-kilometer section of the Xijiang River in the Jiangmen City on Monday morning, but the situation improved Tuesday with no more dead fish found, said Zhao Yanqiang, spokesman for the city’s publicity department. An initial probe has ruled out a lack of oxygen or low water temperatures as the cause of the death. Local authorities initiated an emergency response Monday for disposal of the dead fish, Zhao said. A further investigation by local environmental and fishery authorities is under way. Xijiang River is a major tributary of the Pearl River, the third longest river in China and a pivotal waterway that runs across the economic heartland of Guangdong. –People Daily

Usually they disable the right click in the html code, like with an image. Don't see it too often, but some do it. I would think if people are so concerned about copyright, this would be done a lot more.

53 dead fur seals wash up on South Australia beach

January 16, 2012 – AUSTRALIA – More than 50 New Zealand fur seals have washed up dead on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula and will be examined at Adelaide University to determine how they died. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources said the bodies of 51 juveniles and two young adults were found near Port Lincoln and at Wanna Beach in the Lincoln National Park. Dr. Lucy Woolford from Adelaide University says three seals have been collected for post-mortem examinations, which will be conducted on Tuesday morning. “These seals appear to have died a few days ago, so they’re in a state of decomposition so we’re trying to see how much information we can gain from those,” she said. “[We have found] no immediate signs of injury from the seals we’ve looked at so far.” New Zealand fur seals are a protected species found along Australia’s south coast and along the coast of New Zealand’s South Island. They can grow to weigh up to 250 kilograms, but males usually average about 125kg and are considered docile, although they will attack if provoked. –ABC News

40 dolphins die, 19 survive in Cape Cod strandings

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/17/10175495-40-dolphins-die-19-survive-in-cape-cod-strandings

1/17/12

BOSTON -- Nineteen dolphins that stranded themselves along Cape Cod have been treated and released, but several dozen others have perished since the string of strandings began last Thursday.

Eight that stranded alive did not survive, said Katie Moore, manager for marine mammal rescue at the International Fund for Animal Welfare, while another 32 washed ashore already dead.

Of the 19 survivors, one was a calf and another a pregnant mom.

Strandings typically happen from January to April, but the pattern this year is unlike past years, when just one dolphin or a group would be found on a single beach, she said.

"I've been doing this for 15 years and this is only the second season I've seen it like this," she said.

"It feels like stranding after stranding after stranding," Moore added. "It's definitely out of the ordinary."

The dolphins began beaching themselves on Thursday, with a single dolphin stranded near the town of Wellfleet, said IFAW spokeswoman Kerry Branon.

On Saturday, the busiest day for rescuers, at least 37 dolphin were found spanning five towns along 20 miles of Cape Cod, Branon said.

Cape Cod is among the top locations for the phenomenon worldwide, she said. Beaching of dolphins has been happening for centuries, but researchers are still trying to determine what brings the dolphins to Cape Cod Bay this time of year.

The group actions tend to happen, in part, because dolphins operate with a group mentality, where many others may follow one animal toward shallow water, IFAW said.

The animals, which tend to get stuck on the bay side of the hook-shaped Cape Cod, are assessed by rescuers and then taken to deeper water on the ocean side and released.

Marine biologists check for signs of stress and body condition, among other factors, and tag the dolphins with an identifier before release.

A handful of animals have also been affixed with a tag to track movement and transmit data to researchers, Branon said.

"We also were able to test the hearing on one animal as well ... important data for our project which will hopefully aid in conservation measures to protect marine mammals from ocean noise," Moore said in a statement.

Moore said this year's series of dolphins stranded on beaches reminded her of the 2005-2006 winter, when dolphins beached themselves over a 40-day period.

More pilot whales die from beachings in New Zealand

Posted on January 23, 2012

January 23, 2012 – NEW ZEALAND – About 22 pilot whales stranded around Farewell Spit have died and fears are mounting for the remaining 77 as rescuers pack up for the evening. Project Jonah chief executive Kimberly Muncaster told NZ Newswire volunteers had tried desperately to save the whales which became stranded just after midday. “It was very sad,” she said. “But there was nothing more that we could have done.” Volunteers had begun leaving the scene for the evening about 8.45pm on Monday for safety reasons. Ms Muncaster said although there was only a small chance the remaining live whales would refloat at high tide about 11pm, she remained hopeful. Volunteers had spent the afternoon trying to keep the whales cool and upright. Project Jonah marine mammal medics have also been called to give the whales first aid. Rescue efforts were due to resume at first light on Tuesday. The spot where the whales were stranded is close to Farewell Spit, where 25 were stranded early in January. Seven of those whales died, while 65 whales died after becoming stranded in the same area in November. –NZ News

Large fishkill reported in Perth’s Swan River

January 24, 2012 – AUSTRALIA – Low oxygen levels and hot weather are believed to have killed thousands of fish in Perth’s Swan River. About 5,000 dead fish were discovered between the Middle Swan Bridge and the Ellen Brook in the upper reaches of the river. Swan River Trust spokesman Mark Cugley says recent rain and hot weather have decreased oxygen levels in the waterway and that particular area is outside the reach of the river’s oxygenation plants. “Sudden rainfall often drags nutrient-rich organic matter into the river and this typically causes oxygen levels to rapidly drop below levels suitable for fish and other aquatic fauna,” he said. “It is something that is of a concern, and although we believe the cause was low oxygen levels in the water column, we are monitoring the water quality and sending off samples of those fish for that to be clarified.” Mr Cugley says most of the fish appear to be juvenile black bream with the remainder being trumpeter. –ABC

Dozens of dolphins stranded at Cape Cod

At least 85 dolphins have beached themselves in a shallow inlet of a US nature reserve at Cape Cod, officials said on Tuesday, adding that the cause of the mass standings remained a mystery.

A spokesman for the International Fund for Animal Welfare said the huge number of beached mammals over the last two weeks, with most of them dying, was close to the amount usually recorded in the course of a year.

"We had a total of 85 confirmed standings since January 12 and that number might be as high 101," AJ Cady said. "There are still about 16 dolphins reported in difficult locations we haven't been able to confirm."

"Of that number 35 were still alive. Fifty of them were dead by the time we reached them," Cady said.

The standings took place in the area of Wellfleet and Eastham, which is notorious for sandbanks and twisting channels, just south of the famous hook of Cape Cod on the Atlantic coast of Massachusetts.

The area is the location of coastal and marine nature preserves and is famous for its population of endangered North Atlantic right whales and other sea life.

33 whales stranded again off New Zealand, to be killed

By msnbc.com staff and news services

Some 33 long-finned pilot whales that were refloated Wednesday off a New Zealand beach with the help of volunteers became stranded again Thursday and will have to be euthanized, officials told TVNZ.

“Unfortunately the stranded whales are now also further along the Spit and on the extreme boundary of our ability to reach them for another rescue attempt,” Kimberly Muncaster, CEO of the marine-mammal rescue group Project Jonah, told the TV station.

"The Department of Conservation has decided they will have to be put down."

John Mason, a Department of Conservation official, said the whales were physically deteriorating and in distress.

http://theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com/2012/02/06/scientists-mystified-by-largest-dolphin-stranding-in-northeast-u-s-in-20-years/

Scientists mystified by largest dolphin stranding in northeast U.S. in 20 years

February 6, 2012 – MASSACHUSETTS – Nearly 130 dolphins have beached themselves on Cape Cod in the last three weeks, with 92 dying in what’s become “the single largest stranding” in at least two decades in the Northeast, the International Fund for Animal Welfare reported Monday. On Sunday, four more dolphins were stranded along Cape Cod’s hook-shaped peninsula and were quickly helped back to sea. The Massachusetts peninsula sees many dolphin strandings each year, but the 129 since Jan. 12 is typically about what rescuers see over an entire year, based on records that go back to 1999, IFAW marine mammal rescue manager Katie Moore told msnbc.com. “This event started on the 12th and is still continuing,” she added at a press conference on Monday, noting that rescuers from IFAW and other stranding networks were deployed in “anticipation of more dolphins coming in this afternoon.” Most of the dolphins have appeared to be in good health, adding to the mystery of why so many have come ashore. Dolphins are known to strand in groups due to their tight social structure, but given the large numbers this year, other factors such as weather and tides are being investigated. “I don’t know,” Moore said when asked about causes. “It pains me to say those three words.” Asked if climate change might be a factor,  Roll Eyes Moore said she couldn’t rule that out or in. As for the possibility of sonar or other human-made sounds disrupting the dolphins, she said no known sources existed inside Cape Cod. Initial results of studies on nine of the dead dolphins “do not indicate any pattern,” she noted. This stranding “is not only out of the ordinary,” she said, “but it takes a huge toll on our resources. It’s hard labor.” -MSNBC

Groton has a sub base, "Naval Submarine Base New London". and there have been issues with the navy and dolphins in the past more than once.

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/26/10244852-us-sued-over-navy-sonar-tests-in-whale-waters

We need to keep in mind that most of what we see and hear is not what it seems on the surface. There are more than one explanation, usually.

High count of dead sea birds washing ashore on First Coast Beaches, but officials say not to worry

http://jacksonville.com/opinion/blog/400646/drew-dixon/2012-02-06/high-count-dead-sea-birds-washing-ashore-first-coast

Beachgoers may notice a high number of dead sea birds washing ashore on the First Coast lately.

Gary Anderson, a member of the Jacksonville Waterways Commission, just happened to be on the beach for a stroll on Friday and found about 10 dead sea birds in the area of First Street in Atlantic Beach. Concerned, Anderson began to investigate and found that there were well over a dozen dead sea birds, including gannets and pelicans, that were dead and washed ashore between Atlantic Beach and Guana Preserve in North St. Johns County.

Anderson was worried that there might be some unnatural factor at work.

But officials both with the Bird Emergency And Kare Sanctuary on Big Talbot Island and the Florida Fish and Fresh and Wildlife Conservation Commission advise beachgoers not to worry. The increase in dead sea birds is simply a result of the migration of those birds right now. Many of the birds simply become exhausted and die over open water and wash ashore.

FWC spokesman Kevin Baxter did advise any beachgoers to contact the FWC on the Internet to report any discoveries of bird remains, though.

100 pigeons dead in Rapid City

A pigeon die-off in downtown Rapid City has the state Game, Fish& Parks Department warning citizens not to touch dead or dying birds found in the area.

John Kanta, regional game manger for GF&P in Rapid City, said Friday that about 100 dead pigeons have been confirmed in the downtown area in the last couple of days.

"We're looking into it. We've already taken samples to ship to a lab to determine the cause," Kanta said. "It could be the birds got into some moldy grain or other bacterial problem. Or there it could be there's a poisoning going on. And we'll want to look into it and get to the bottom of it."

Kanta said there's no need for people to call GF&P if they find a dead pigeon or two.

"We're aware of the problem and working on it," he said.

Groton has a sub base, "Naval Submarine Base New London". and there have been issues with the navy and dolphins in the past more than once.

We need to keep in mind that most of what we see and hear is not what it seems on the surface. There are more than one explanation, usually.

I'm just reading this article(to the one that was responded to yesterday).

I'm not good at scientific stuff(even though I was a math guy in college), however, if I understand this correctly, is this happening b/c the Obama administration is putting sonar tests in the oceans? How is that affecting this?
