The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. Psa 83:1 [[A Song [or] Psalm of Asaph.]] Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
Psa 83:2   For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
Psa 83:3   They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
Psa 83:4   They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
Psa 83:5   For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
Psa 83:6   The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Psa 83:7   Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Psa 83:8   Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
Psa 83:9   Do unto them as [unto] the Midianites; as [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
Psa 83:10   [Which] perished at Endor: they became [as] dung for the earth.
Psa 83:11   Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
Psa 83:12   Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
Psa 83:13   O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
Psa 83:14   As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
Psa 83:15   So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
Psa 83:16   Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
Psa 83:17   Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
Psa 83:18   That [men] may know that thou, whose name alone [is] JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth.

Israel sends 2 warships to Egyptian border

The Israeli military says it has sent two more warships to the Red Sea border with Egypt following warnings that militants are planning another attack on southern Israel from Egyptian soil.

Earlier this week, Israel's military ordered more troops to the border following intelligence reports of an impending attack.

Israel's home front minister said Tuesday that militants from the Gaza-based Islamic Jihad are in Egypt's Sinai peninsula waiting to attack.

Gunmen who infiltrated Israel through the porous Egyptian Sinai border killed eight Israelis earlier this month.

The attack sparked calls to increase security on both sides of the frontier and created new tensions between Israel and Egypt.

No changes in security alignments were observed on the Egyptian side of the border.

The IDF has deployed two warships to the Red Sea near the Egyptian border as Sinai terror alerts pour in; Iran plans to follow suit.   Shocked

Quote
The IDF on Monday deployed two warships in the Red Sea near the border with Egypt following warnings terrorists are planning another attack on southern Israel from Egyptian soil.

Also on Monday, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz ordered increased deployments across the entire southern command, especially near the Israel-Egypt border, increased.

The move, ostensibly due to increased terror warnings, comes concurrent to Israel's agreement to allow Egypt to deploy 1,500 more troops in areas B and C of the Sinai in order to conduct counter-terror operations on the Peninsula. Area A is the sector adjoining the Israeli-Egyptian border.

Israel's south, especially near the border, has been flooded with military forces, deployed in a manner defined by one security source as "unprecedented."

No changes in security alignments were observed on the Egyptian side of the border, but Egyptian security sources did say counter-terror raids were being staged in honor of Eid al-Fatr - the end of Ramadan - due to fears of increased holiday violence.

The IDF has also deployed advanced technology in the area - including UAVs - in order to thwart terror attacks. Military intelligence sources said earlier Tuesday a terror cell left Gaza intending to infiltrate Israel through Sinai.

The security situation in southern Israel has been particularly tense over the past few weeks, following a series of terror attacks that claimed the lives of eight Israelis in mid-August; as well as several days in which Israel's south and western Negev communities suffered heavy shelling by Gaza Strip-based terror groups.

In a provocative move certain to ratchet-up regional tensions, Iranian naval commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari told the state-run agency the Islamic Republic is planning to send its 15th fleet to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The Islamic Republic's 15th fleet is comprised of a submarine and a several warships.

Sayyari noted that Iran's Navy plans to have "an active presence in the high seas in line with the guidelines of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei with the purpose of serving the country's interests."

“The presence of Iran's army in the high seas will convey the message of peace and friendship to all countries,” he said.

What about this scripture states that it is a prophetic war?   Please, if you have other scriptures, along with your thoughts on this, I would appreciate it.  I know many who believe it is a war and that it is about to happen.  Is it because it lists certain countries? I personally am unsure either way.

something i keep coming into. Is it prophetic or a prayer. I always assumed that it would be part of Ezk 38-39, but the more i look into it, it appears to possibly be a stand alone event.  Huh or a prayer.  Huh still looking into this one.

Jewish 'settlers' prepared for Palestinian onslaught

The Israeli army has been busy training local security teams in the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria (Jewish settlements) for a possible onslaught of violent Palestinian demonstrators.

Israel fears that following the Palestinian Authority's September 20 bid at the United Nations to secure recognition of a sovereign Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria (the so-called "West Bank"), Palestinian mobs will march on any Jews they see as "invaders" in that new state.

In fact, that is precisely what Palestinian leaders are telling the public to do.

"The appeal to the UN is a battle for all Palestinians, and in order to succeed, it needs millions to pour into streets," Palestinian official Yasser Abed Rabbo told the Associated Press following a Palestinian Authority vote endorsing a mass protest march on Israel.

Rabbo and other Palestinian leaders insist the protests will be peaceful, but Israeli officials noted that more often than not the Palestinians' definition of "peaceful" does not match Israel's.

And even if the intention truly was for a peaceful march, the Israelis say that having tens or hundreds of thousands of Palestinians march on Israeli civilian neighborhoods is a situation that can quickly spiral out of control.

While Jerusalem is certain to be a primary target of such a march, it is pretty heavily barricaded from the north and east, the directions from which the Palestinian protestors would be coming.

But the Jewish settlements make much softer targets.

That's why the IDF, which will preoccupied defending the northern neighborhoods of Jerusalem and the portion of the "Green Line" separating the Tel Aviv metropolitan area from the West Bank, is busy preparing the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria to defend themselves.

Those preparations include unspecified drills on how to handle various situations, including a large Palestinian mob beseiging the gates of a small Jewish community.

Jewish settler leaders stressed that the training exercises do not constitute the formation of a new Jewish militia, noting that these are pre-existing local security teams, the members of which are, like all Israelis, also members of the IDF reserve forces.

Even with all the preparations, the situation can still devolve into chaos and violence at a moment's notice. If armed Palestinian elements open fire from among the protestors, or a Palestinian mob manages to break into a Jewish community, Israeli security forces will be obliged to use deadly force in defense of local men, women and children.

IDF general: Likelihood of regional war growing

Senior IDF officer warns of 'radical Islamic winter' that may lead to regional war, could prompt use of WMDs; new, more lethal weapons discovered in hands of terrorists during latest round of fighting in Gaza, Major General Eisenberg says

Recent revolutions in the Arab world and the deteriorating ties with Turkey are raising the likelihood of a regional war in the Middle East, IDF Home Front Command Chief, Major General Eyal Eisenberg warned Monday.

"It looks like the Arab Spring, but it can also be a radical Islamic winter," he said in a speech at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv.

Ynetnews coverage of growing Mideast threats:

    Terror attacks skyrocket in August
    'Gaza militants have Libyan arms'
IAEA worries over Iran military nuclear work
Report: Egyptian forces raid Jihad cells in Sinai
Report: Israel sends 2 warships to Egyptian border

"This leads us to the conclusion that through a long-term process, the likelihood of an all-out war is increasingly growing," the IDF general said.

Weapons of mass destruction?

Referring to what he characterized as the possibility of a "radical Islamic winter," Major-General Eisenberg said: "This raises the likelihood of an all-out, total war, with the possibility of weapons of mass destruction being used."

Israel Sensing a Wider Siege

With its Cairo embassy ransacked, its ambassador to Turkey expelled and the Palestinians seeking statehood recognition at the United Nations, Israel found itself on Saturday increasingly isolated and grappling with a radically transformed Middle East where it believes its options are limited and poor.

The diplomatic crisis, in which winds unleashed by the Arab Spring are now casting a chill over the region, was crystallized by the scene of Israeli military jets sweeping into Cairo at dawn on Saturday to evacuate diplomats after the Israeli Embassy had been besieged by thousands of protesters.

It was an image that reminded some Israelis of Iran in 1979, when Israel evacuated its embassy in Tehran after the revolution there replaced an ally with an implacable foe.

Turkey stirs pot with Cairo talks

TURKEY'S Prime Minister was due to arrive in Cairo overnight amid speculation that he will attempt to stoke anti-Israeli sentiment following last week's assault on the Israeli embassy in the Egyptian capital.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is embroiled in a separate diplomatic war with Israel over its refusal to apologise for killing Turks on a Gaza-bound ship 15 months ago, is seeking to strengthen Turkey's alliance with Egypt to cement and extend its influence in the region. In the first such visit in 15 years, Mr Erdogan is expected to offer the post-Mubarak government aid and trade deals.

In the wake of the storming of the Israeli embassy on Friday, Egyptian security police raided the Cairo offices of the Al Jazeera news channel and detained a member of its technical staff.

The move against Al Jazeera on Sunday was denounced by a variety of Egyptian political organisations and fed a growing sense of crisis that has gripped the capital since Friday.

''The government is using the attacks on the Israeli embassy on Friday night to justify its use of repressive measures,'' said Amer al Wakil, a leader of the Egyptian Revolutionary Alliance, one of the political coalitions that emerged from the popular movement that led to the ouster of long-time Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.

Israel, rattled by diplomatic crises on three fronts, fears it is becoming increasingly isolated in the region. The sense of embattlement is heightened by the Palestinians' bid to have their state recognised at the United Nations in the coming weeks, a move supported by a majority of states.

Defence Minister Ehud Barak said Israel must face up to its growing isolation. ''There is a picture forming around us that includes what happened with Turkey, what is happening with Egypt, and what is happening with the Palestinians,'' he said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attack was a challenge to 32 years of peace between Israel and Egypt, and a ''very near disaster'' was averted. Israel flew 86 diplomats and family from Cairo after protesters used sledgehammers to demolish a security wall, allowing a small group to breach the building. Six embassy staff were under siege for some hours until commandos freed them.

The Egyptian authorities said they had raised security around the embassy. At least 19 people were arrested over the clashes, in which three people died and more than 1000 were injured.

Report: Turkey to defuse Israeli Navy weapons

Turkish newspaper claims Ankara ready to deploy three warships to Mediterranean Sea; instructs them to intercept Israeli navy vessels in international waters, neutralize their weapons system

While Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to arrive in Egypt for a historic visit, daily newspaper Sabah on Monday reported that the Turkish Navy is preparing to deploy three warships in the Mediterranean Sea, in order to "safeguard the freedom of navigation."

According to a report, Turkish navy echelons decided that if one of its ships crosses paths with an Israeli vessel outside of the latter's territorial waters, it will be instructed to come within 100 meters of the ship and neutralize its weapons system.

Over the weekend, Erdogan ruffled feathers in Israel after he was quoted as saying that Turkish warships will protect boats carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza moving forward.

"Turkish warships, in the first place, are authorized to protect our ships that carry humanitarian aid to Gaza," Erdogan was quoted as saying. "From now on, we will not let these ships to be attacked by Israel, as what happened with the Freedom Flotilla.

Jordan's Abdullah: Israel's situation today more difficult than ever

King says 'Jordan and the future Palestine are stronger than Israel is today. It is the Israeli who is scared today'

"Jordan and the future Palestine are stronger than Israel is today. It is the Israeli who is scared today," King Abdullah of Jordan said late Sunday in Amman.

The king described a recent conversation he held in the US with "one of the Israeli intellectuals" who commented on events in the Arab world, arguing that they were good for Israel. "I replied and said that it was the opposite and that Israel's situation today is more difficult than ever before."

According to the Jordanian leader, "Jordan is Jordan and Palestine is Palestine. We support all Palestinian rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state – our policy hasn’t changed. The subject of an alternative homeland must not be part of the discussion. It is unacceptable."

Shoooosh! You don't want anybody to actually know that!

But serisouly, King Abdullah said that? Wow. He never says anything like that. He's been one of the most quiet leaders in the Middle East.

And now Egypt is showing where it's headed politically, and it isn't in favor of Israel.

Israel expects to fight WMD in 'multi-front war'
'After the Arab Spring, we assess that a winter of radical Islam will arrive'

The Israeli military, alarmed by the increasing hostility that is coming from Middle East and North African countries as a result of the "Arab Spring," is forecasting there is a "likelihood of an all-out war with the possibility of weapons of mass destruction being used," according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

In an address before the Institute for National Security Studies, Home Front Command chief Maj. Gen. Eyal Eisenberg said that governments previously supported by the United States and Israel, particularly Egypt and Turkey, are turning against Israel.

"After the Arab Spring, we assess that a winter of radical Islam will arrive and as a result the possibility for a multi-front war has increased including the potential use of weapons of mass destruction," Eisenberg said.

In referring to WMDs, Eisenberg pointed to the prospect of Iran's development of a nuclear program and the prospect of a WMD attack on Israel. He also referred to Iran's assistance to Lebanon's Iranian-backed Hezbollah and to the Gaza Strip's Hamas. He claimed that Hezbollah is dominating the Lebanese army and has gained access to its weapons.

"In Lebanon, Hezbollah is growing stronger within government arms, but it has not lost its desire to harm Israel," he said.

For its part, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah has stated that Hezbollah will attack Israel only if Israel attacks Lebanon.

With Eisenberg's statement cleared prior to its presentation, his warning about Egypt and Turkey in particular was the first time they have been identified as potential belligerents against the Jewish state.

Turkey and Egypt had maintained strategic relations with Israel until unrelated events drew the countries in separate directions.

"In Egypt, the army is collapsing under the burden of regular security operations," the general said. "And this is reflected in the loss of control in the Sinai and the turning of the border with Israel into a terror border, with the possibility that Sinai will fall under the control of an Islamic entity."

Regarding Turkey, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak urged Turkey to reduce tensions in expressing concern over the poor relations between Israel and Turkey.

Aim of Egypt border fence to block 'terror': Israel PM

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that the main aim of a fence which Israel is building on its border with Egypt is now to block militants and not just smugglers and illegal migrants.

"Putting up the fence is first of all against terror activity, and only after that against (other) infiltrators," army radio quoted him as saying during a tour of the border.

Israel began constructing the fence late last year to stem the influx of thousands of illegal migrants through the porous border, which has also been a major drug and human trafficking route into Israel.

A statement from Netanyahu's office said work on the fence would be speeded up and was expected to be completed by next September.

"Israel's border with Egypt is a border of peace. To continue the peace, there must be security, and to this end a fence is necessary," it quoted him as saying. "Its rapid construction is important for both peace and security."

Tensions between the two countries have risen since the killing last month of six Egyptian policemen on the border as Israel hunted militants who crossed from the Sinai and killed eight Israelis.

Last week, Egyptian crowds rampaged through the Israeli embassy in Cairo, with several of them tossing embassy papers from balconies and tearing down the Israeli flag.

It was the worst attack since Israel set up its mission in Egypt, the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with the Jewish state, in 1979.

Nearly all of Israel's diplomatic staff were evacuated from Egypt after the attack on the embassy.

Turkey Predicts Alliance With Egypt as Regional Anchors

A newly assertive Turkey offered on Sunday a vision of a starkly realigned Middle East, where the country’s former allies in Syria and Israel fall into deeper isolation, and a burgeoning alliance with Egypt underpins a new order in a region roiled by revolt and revolution. IE: Sharia

The portrait was described by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu of Turkey in an hourlong interview before he was to leave for the United Nations, where a contentious debate was expected this week over a Palestinian bid for recognition as a state. Viewed by many as the architect of a foreign policy that has made Turkey one of the most relevant players in the Muslim world, Mr. Davutoglu pointed to that issue and others to describe a region in the midst of a transformation. Turkey, he said, was “right at the center of everything.”

He declared that Israel was solely responsible for the near collapse in relations with Turkey, once an ally, and he accused Syria’s president of lying to him after Turkish officials offered the government there a “last chance” to salvage power by halting its brutal crackdown on dissent.

Strikingly, he predicted a partnership between Turkey and Egypt, two of the region’s militarily strongest and most populous and influential countries, which he said could create a new axis of power at a time when American influence in the Middle East seems to be diminishing.

Turkey, Iran in race to dominate
Ardently Muslim nations vying for role as top leader

The competition between Turkey and Iran over influence on Iraq, and indeed, the rest of the Middle East, is prompting outward concern in Tehran over what was thought to be a close relationship between the nations, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

The sentiment is rising just as Ankara announced a decision to allow installation of a controversial U.S. radar for an anti-ballistic missile system aimed at deterring Iranian missiles.

At the same time, Iran has begun to increase its strategic relationship with Russia.

Analysts confirm Turkey and Iran generally have enjoyed close ties and cooperate in a variety of fields including trade, economic relations, fighting terrorism, drug trafficking and promoting stability in Iraq and Central Asia.

Turkey has been strengthening its ties to Iran and other countries in the East, attempting to re-establish its historical influence, since the Muslim government of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to power in 2002. In undertaking a "zero problems" foreign policy, Turkey has sought to be a mediator in disputes between Iran and the West, especially over Iran's refusal to halt its nuclear enrichment program, which is now subject to United Nations sanctions.

Analysts warn U.S. about Turkey's instability
Longtime ally and NATO member now in confrontation with Israel

Analysts are warning the U.S., and its ally Israel, about the instability they see in Turkey, where Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Israel the biggest impediment to Middle East peace, has demanded Israel apologize for defending itself, and has suggested his nation's military might enable blockade runners to move against Israel's weapons blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Heritage Foundation foreign policy analyst Ariel Cohen believes that Turkey is not only setting itself up for confrontation with Israel, but with the U. S. as well.

"This is a headlong collision because the Obama administration does not want recognition of the Palestinian state at the U.N.," Cohen said.

American Enterprise Institute's Middle East analyst Michael Rubin says Turkey's actions and closer alignment with the Islamic world in recent days demonstrate that Turkey is not a good fit for the freedom-focused North Atlantic Treaty Organization, of which it is a member.

Turkey Voices Readiness For Israel War

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has voiced his country's readiness to engage in a conflict with Israel, in the case it becomes 'necessary.' In an interview, when Erdogan was asked if he saw the Israeli attack on a Gaza-bound flotilla that killed nine Turkish nationals as "a cause of war," -- as the premier had earlier said -- Erdogan said "we will do that too if it becomes necessary," Turkey's Vatan newspaper reported on Thursday. "As you know, Israel attacked three ships, one of which carried over 400 people from 33 countries, in international waters from sea and air. Such an attack in international waters is against international law," Erdogan noted.

Syria threatens to set Middle East on fire
'Iran will attack U.S. warships,' 'hundreds of rockets' on Israel

Syrian President Bashar Assad today reportedly warned he will set the Middle East on fire if NATO forces attack his country.

"If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv," Assad reportedly said, according to Iran's state-run Fars news agency.

Assad made the comments in a meeting today with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu, reported Fars.

Fars reported Davutoglu conveyed a warning from NATO and the U.S. that Syria could face an international military campaign if Assad does not halt his violent crackdown on an insurgency targeting the Syrian president's regime.

"All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack the U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf and the U.S., and European interests will be targeted simultaneously," Assad was quoted as saying.

While Assad's remarks could not be immediately verified, Iran, which runs Fars, is a close partner of the Damascus government.

In August, WND was first to report that Assad is taking military measures to prepare for a possible U.S.-NATO campaign against his regime.

Informed Egyptian security officials told WND Assad instructed the Syrian military to be prepared for an air or ground campaign if the international community determines his pledges of reform are not enough.

Didn't Hussein rattle his sword like this just before Bahgdad became a smoldering pile of rubble?

Iran, Syria, and Turkey, all taking smack against the US and Israel. Right on time.

Psalm 83 – A Prophecy In Process

A Google search of “The Psalm 83 prophecy” on March 31, 2012 displayed 1,380,000 results. Another Google search on the same day under “The Psalm 83 war,” uncovered 2,460,000 results. These numbers reflect approximately fifty-times as many results than there were in the same month 4 years prior. I recall, because in 2008 my book, Isralestine the Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East, was published and I had attempted to find research over the Internet on these two subjects. Psalm 83 is the central theme of Isralestine, and frankly Internet research in these areas at that time was generally fruitless, which is why the book was an eight-year work requiring countless hours of biblical study and extra-biblical historical research. At the time, most of the respected existing commentaries on the Psalm offered little more than poetic expositions. Fortunately, Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum, David Dolan, and Jack Kelley had previously written summarily about the prophetic possibilities of the Psalm, which presented me with some helpful insights.

Rocket fired from Egypt hits Israeli city of Eilat

A Grad rocket has landed in the southern Israeli city of Eilat, but has caused no damage or injuries, Israeli security officials said.

District police chief Ron Gertner told Israeli radio the rocket had been fired from Egypt's Sinai peninsula.

He said it struck a construction site close to a residential area shortly after midnight (21:00 GMT).

The blast took place as thousands congregated in the resort town for the Jewish holiday of Passover.

Rocket attacks from Egyptian soil are uncommon. Attacks on Eilat and the nearby Jordanian town of Aqaba in 2010 killed one person and injured another four.

Sinai unrest

Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzhak-Halevy told the Jerusalem Post that the city would function as normal despite the attack.

A wave of unrest has hit the restive Sinai peninsula recently.

Israel says militants have become active in the region since former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown in February 2011.

In August 2011, an armed group crossed the border into Israel from the Sinai peninsula and killed eight Israelis.

Israel blamed Palestinian militants but five Egyptian policemen were killed as Israeli forces pursued the gunmen, sparking a diplomatic row between the two countries.

Six army battalions called up under emergency orders to meet growing threat on Egypt, Syria bordersKnesset approves IDF request to call up a further 16 battalions if needed

The IDF has issued emergency call up orders to six reserve battalions in light of new dangers on the Egyptian and Syrian borders. And the Knesset has given the IDF permission to summon a further 16 reserve battalions if necessary, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

An IDF spokesperson said intelligence assessments called for the deployment of more soldiers.

According to 2008′s Reserve Duty Law, combat soldiers can be called for active reserve duty once every three years, and for short training sessions during the other two. Rising tensions between Israel and Egypt and the ongoing unrest in Syria caused the army to ask the Knesset for special permission to call up more soldiers, more often.

The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee approved the request recently, enabling the IDF to summon up to 22 battalions for active duty for the second time in three years. Already, the army has called up six of them.

“This signifies that the IDF regards the Egyptian and Syrian borders as the potential source of a greater threat than in the past,” the former deputy chief of staff, Dan Harel, said on Wednesday night.

“The army needs a better ‘answer’ than in the past to the threat,” he said, citing Egypt’s deteriorating control over the Sinai, marked by an upsurge in Bedouin smuggling of weapons and other goods. He also spoke of the growing threat of terrorism from Sinai, as exemplified by an infiltration last August in which eight Israelis were killed.

The Syrian situation was also highly combustible, Harel said, “and it could explode at any moment… and pose a direct challenge to us.”

Maariv said the army had to decide whether to cancel training sessions for enlisted soldiers or to summon additional reserve units, and it chose the latter; canceling training would mean soldiers would not be prepared in the case of an all-out war.

The IDF spokesperson said all the letters summoning soldiers for reserve duty were sent after the IDF received the approval of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee for the larger call-up.

One of the reservists summoned told Maariv he hadn’t expected his call-up letter until next year. Leaving home for more than three weeks is something you have to prepare for, he noted.

Activists from the Reserve Soldiers Forum said they were disappointed time and again by the way the IDF treated its reserve soldiers. The law was supposed to help reservists, but it has been repeatedly bypassed and ignored, they said. “At the end, all that will remain of the law will be its title.”

Look who's complaining about the law.  Roll Eyes

Indeed there is a threat from the Syrian side, and Egypt is turning south recently too. The upside if any, is that neither one has a military to speak of, so most of the conflict would be more gorilla-style battles on the ground. And they don't have the air support of attack helos like Israel. That means somebody else has to provide material support for Israel's enemies. I suspect the Middle East oil barons are flush with cash.

Russian Expert Warns Of Possibility Of Large-Scale Middle East War

In an interview with the Voice of Russia, Russian analyst Konstantin Sivkov said: “Deploying these missiles in Turkey will be dangerous for Syrian military planes – this is obvious. A lesser obvious thing is that Turkey is getting ready for a war against Syria. If an attack on Syria from the territory of Turkey does take place, this will most likely be an attack not of the Turkish army, but of NATO’s forces.” “The Middle East is getting ready for a large-sale battle which will very likely affect the Russian part of the Caucasus, and this, in its turn, will be reflected on the entire Russia,” Mr. Sivkov added. The planned deployment by NATO countries of Patriot air defence systems on Turkey’s Syria border will actually amount to the imposition of a no-fly zone for Syrian aircraft in circumvention of the UN Security Council.

If I'm following you, this is the exact same rhetoric before the Iraq invasion.

He's correct though, there is a HUGE battle brewing in the Middle East, the final one, and none of these countries, including Russia, will like the outcome.
