It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Verizon Wireless Now Handing Over Your Web, Location and App Data to Advertizers by Default
October 17th, 2011

For the last month, Verizon Wireless has been notifying customers through email of a major change to its default privacy setting: it will begin collecting your Web browsing history, cell phone location and app usage, for third-party marketing purposes.

You can opt out of such surveillance, although Verizon has promised not to share any identifiable information with these third-party companies.

We recently dropped Verizon after my wife's line suddenly had over 10 times the normal usuage, and overage charges on our shared minutes, usage we have never even come close to in our several year history with them, yet they insist it's no mistake or hack, we owe it all. I say if God wills.

She also hase gotten involved with Facebook games in the last few months, and does alot of texting, but nowhere near what they claim she did that one month, over 7000 texts ABOVE her normal usage, and hasn't been that high since. Several times we have ended up with some charge for a text service she had no clue what it was, so we'd have to call Verizon and get them to dump the charges. If she didn't text, most problems would be solved. And her "smart phone", though basic, does have web service. She just doesn't understand that her phone is actually a small computer that has a phone in it! Technically speaking, that's really what these smart phones are; small handheld computers that have a cell phone service built in. That's why I don't understand why tablets don't have cell service. Same thing, larger device.

I have to advise people, knowing what I know about electronics, computers, etc, I really advise people not use the "smart phones", ones that have a web browser. And if you can find it, get a basic phone that doesn't have GPS. They may have it in there anyway, but that can be dealt with too with a small Faraday cage pouch, but when you use it, your line is fair game digitally speaking, so people should just accept it that their digital communications are in fact monitored, and act accordingly.

Gov't scooping up Verizon phone records

The National Security Agency has been collecting the telephone records of millions of U.S. customers of Verizon under a top secret court order, according to a report in Britain’s Guardian newspaper.

The order was granted by the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court on April 25 and is good until July 19, the newspaper reported Wednesday. The order requires Verizon, one of the nation’s largest telecommunications companies, on an ‘‘ongoing, daily basis’’ to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the U.S. and between the U.S. and other countries.

The newspaper said the document, a copy of which it had obtained, shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of U.S. citizens were being collected indiscriminately and in bulk, regardless of whether they were suspected of any wrongdoing.

The Associated Press could not authenticate the order because documents from the court are classified.

Verizon spokesman Ed McFadden said Wednesday the company had no comment. The White House declined comment and referred questions to the NSA. The NSA had no immediate comment.

Verizon Communications Inc. listed 121 million customers in its first-quarter earnings report this April — 98.9 million wireless customers, 11.7 million residential phone lines and about 10 million commercial lines. The court order didn’t specify which type of phone customers’ records were being tracked.

Under the terms of the order, the phone numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as are location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered, The Guardian said.

The broad, unlimited nature of the records being handed over to the NSA is unusual. FISA court orders typically direct the production of records pertaining to a specific named target suspected of being an agent of a terrorist group or foreign state, or a finite set of individually named targets. NSA warrantless wiretapping during the George W. Bush administration after the 9/11 attacks was very controversial.

The FISA court order, signed by Judge Roger Vinson, compelled Verizon to provide the NSA with electronic copies of ‘‘all call detail records or telephony metadata created by Verizon for communications between the United States and abroad’’ or ‘‘wholly within the United States, including local telephone calls,’’ The Guardian said.

The law on which the order explicitly relies is the ‘‘business records’’ provision of the USA Patriot Act.

Col 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Col 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Yeah, and the NSA has it's own special room for their secret monitoring equipment at phone company switching stations, where they monitor and collect info. No need to request it from the companies. This is just government tossing business under the bus, making it look like it's big business that ratted out the public to government, when the fact is that government and business have been working directly together behind the scenes for years.
