This was mentioned in a couple of threads yesterday.

Detroit prayer event puts Muslim community on edge

A group that counts Islam among the ills facing the nation began a 24-hour prayer rally Friday evening in an area with one of the largest Muslim communities in the United States.

The gathering at Ford Field, the stadium where the Detroit Lions play, is designed to tackle issues such as the economy, racial strife, same-sex relationships and abortion. But the decade-old organization known as TheCall has said Detroit is a "microcosm of our national crisis" in all areas, including "the rising tide of the Islamic movement."

Leaders of TheCall believe a satanic spirit is shaping all parts of U.S. society, and it must be challenged through intensive Christian prayer and fasting. Such a demonic spirit has taken hold of specific areas, Detroit among them, organizers say. In the months ahead of their rallies, teams of local organizers often travel their communities performing a ritual called "divorcing Baal," the name of a demon spirit, to drive out the devil from each location.

"Our concern is that we are literally being demonized by the organizers of this group," said Dawud Walid, executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations' Michigan chapter, which last week urged local mosques and Islamic schools to increase security. "And given the recent history of other groups that have come into Michigan ... we're concerned about this prayer vigil stoking up the flames of divisiveness in the community."

TheCall is the latest and largest of several groups or individuals to come to the Detroit area with a message that stirred up many of its estimated 150,000 to 200,000 Muslims. Recent visitors have included Florida pastor Terry Jones; members of the Westboro Baptist Church; and the Acts 17 Apologetics, missionaries who were arrested for disorderly conduct last year at Dearborn's Arab International Festival but were later acquitted.

I don't think the man in the 2nd video has read 1st Tim 4.

Yes, we need to continue to witness, but let's not fool ourselves and think we can start some big revival to turn this country back.

Just watched a tad bit of the 2nd video again - something I've noticed from these "charismatic revivals", they are always putting YOUNG people in their ads. No, the young people aren't the ones speaking alot in the forefront(mostly the older guys doing that), but nonetheless, it's as if these YOUNG boys/girls they flash in these ads will really grap the lust of the eyes and flesh of the viewers. RARELY do you see middle aged and elderly in these groups, RARELY.

The NAR, charismatics, Emergent Church, postmodernists, etc have this one thing in common - they all seem to reject the elderly, and put pretty young faces in the forefront.

Brannon Howse: Aired November 9, 2011
Lou Engle’s The Call in Detroit is on 11-11-11. Lou Engle is on staff at the International House of Prayer Kansas City along with Mike Bickle. The Call which seeks to attract young people has been attended by such religious right leaders as James and Shirley Dobson and Tony Perkins and their speeches at The Call in certain cities can be seen on the internet. The Call website listed “special messages for the Call Sacramento 2010” with what were reportedly video endorsements by Bill Johnson, David Bereit, Pat & Gordon Robertson, Che Ahn, Mike Bickle, Ron Luce, Vonette Bright, Tim Wildmon, Tony Perkins, Samuel Rodriquez and Mike Huckabee. Do pro-family leaders still endorse the work of Engle and The Call? If so why? Do they agree with the theology of Engle and The Call? Do they agree with his idea of spiritual warfare? Do they agree with his dominionsim? Do they agree with extra Biblical revelations? Hear a portion of a sermon by John MacArthur in which he mentions Lou Engle and the NAR and declares that this group is involved in attributing the work of Satan to the Holy Spirit. The Call website speaks of “strike teams” that are “developed and deployed to key regions in the earth where breakthrough is needed…” One News Now reported in August of 2008, that The Call website stated that “The Call came in a prophetic dream. He contends that Joel’s Army, or the church, has replaced Israel in God’s prophetic timetable.” Hear audio of Engle proclaiming that God wants to manifest himself now and have Christians ruling now. Hear audio of Engle speaking of the need to push God’s people in to places of leadership in God’s kingdom here on earth and it requires prayer. Hear audio of Engle teaching the seven mountain mandate. Hear audio of Engle saying that if they don’t keep the prayer going in Detroit then you get demons even seven times worse. Engle believes in extra Biblical revelations. David E. Taylor proclaims on his website that he is going to take part in The Call Detroit. Taylor claims to have had over 1,000 face to face meetings with Jesus Christ and teaches others how to have these same personal and physical encounters. Hear audio of John MacArthur explaining why spiritual battle does not involve binding Satan and chasing demons but the spiritual battle involves the battle between truth and error, the battle for the mind and the heart through the preaching of the gospel and the teaching of God’s truth. MacArthur explains how Satan seeks to distort God’s message through false teachers. Sound familiar? If you know of someone that has been to or is looking to attend The Call with Lou Engle you might want to send them a copy of this radio broadcast.

That is also one of the first changes of the Purpose Driven Church. Get rid of all the older well versed members of the church as they will stand in the way of the changes that are required to make the church Purpose Driven.

I'm not familiar with it, but yes, here in Texas, there seems to be alot of charismatics, NAR, pentacostal types. I mean for years, all I've heard is how Texas is a "Christian" state. This is NOT the case.

This artical sums the Call up-they are part of the Kansas city crowd....

Kingdom-Now ‘Prophets’ Unite on 07/07/07
by Jackie Alnor
Apostasy Alert

This week the Elijah List, an umbrella group of today’s prominent false prophets, sent out a notice of a coming event this summer:
“About TheCall – On 07.07.07, we believe the largest prayer gathering in the history of this state will be held at LP Field, The Titans’ Stadium in Nashville. Believers from around the country will converge on this city for a national, solemn assembly of biblical proportions. The mandate the Lord has given us comes from Joel 2:12 – 27: ‘Call a sacred assembly… gather the elders… 40 years after the start of the Jesus Movement and 40 years after the rebellion of the Summer of Love, it’s time for a new generation to step forward and return to the Lord and to renew our covenant vows of love with Him.’”

Lou Engle, Founder of TheCall and Justice House of Prayer, who is sponsoring the event, believes that this gathering of prayer warriors will be more effective than his last seven such events that began in Washington D.C. in 2000. This one is different, he surmises, because of the prophetic words it has received and because of the significance of the 07-07-07 date. He writes:

“In 1993, Bob Jones prophesied, ‘The Houston Oilers would move to Nashville, and Nashville would build God a stadium. And 100,000 people, particularly youth, would gather for a great mobilization of the army of God.’ With this prophecy in effect, I was praying about holding TheCall in Titan Stadium in Nashville on 07-07-07.”

The Bob Jones who Engle quoted is the same Bob Jones who was one of the infamous Kansas City Prophets who was scandalized for using his so-called prophetic gift as a ruse to get women to disrobe for his amusement. Another one of the Kansas City Prophets, Paul Cain, was exposed for homosexual behavior and that was the final straw that pushed all of them into the background for the past decade. Now it seems as though, under the leadership of the late John Wimber’s former associate C. Peter Wagner, they have all reassociated together still hoping for the manifestation of what they call the “New Breed” of prophets that are to be the long awaited “Joel’s Army” who will take the nation for Christ and rule and reign without the need for His visible return.

The same “Joel’s Army” rhetoric is resurfacing as one reads through the promotional material about TheCall on their website and the Elijah List website as well as in Charisma magazine (see last week’s Reflection). That comes at no surprise since not only do they quote scandalized false prophets such as Bob Jones, but former Kansas City Prophets Mike Bickle and Rick Joyner are listed as serving on TheCall’s Board. (Other Board members include Wesley and Stacey Campbell {the shaking prophetess}, Bill Hamon {“the apostle of all prophets”}, and Bob Weiner {former leader of Maranatha Campus Ministries that was considered by many to be a cult in the 1980s.}

Engle says he received his confirmation of Bob Jones’ prophecy from a female seer. He wrote in the promo material:

“While in a prophets gathering, I received a profound confirmation. Sharon Stone, a prophetic voice from England, who knew nothing that was on my heart, stood and began to speak forth this word over me, ‘There is coming a fresh recruitment on 07-07-07. I heard the day very clearly, and on that day, a stand will be taken, and it will bring forth a great shift.’ Could it be that TheCall in Nashville is that day of recruitment and that day of shifting?”

They love using military terms such as “recruitment” for the Joel’s Army vision that puts these “prophets” in authority over the western church as they claim this nation as their dominion. They give themselves titles of authority such as “the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders” that was recently convened by C. Peter Wagner and Cindy Jacobs, leaders in the New Apostolic Reformation. They reject the Bible’s prophecies of the church ruling and reigning with Christ during His literal 1,000-year Kingdom in exchange for their own time of prominence and interpret all prophecies of the former as applying to Christ ruling indirectly through them. They’re looking for a kingdom without Christ, with them in charge, as God is said to have lowered His scepter to them. And they cannot come into that season without a critical mass of the energies of thousands of participants.

In the current issue of Charisma Magazine (May 2007), the cover story is on Dutch Sheets and Chuck Pierce, two so-called prophets. Dutch Sheets is on the Board of TheCall. Their idea of the “coming revival” reveals the wrong view of prayer and spiritual warfare they are engaging in. Pierce, president of Glory of Zion Int’l in Denton, Texas, said, “I believe the Lord is trying to increase our sphere of authority in prayer.” The two men have been traveling all over America together for the past 18 months teaching on prayer – not as petitioning God – but as taking authority over the spirit realm and prophesying over each state. They claim to be mobilizing an “army of intercessors” to pray for the nation. They say that they hope to ignite a revival similar to Azusa Street, and TheCall has that same vision. After visiting all 50 states, they were excited at the response they received – except they didn’t like the state of Arizona, that they say is spiritually cold. They said they were “blindsided” by that and Sheets reported, “We couldn’t tap into anything, as far as discerning and anointing” in that state.” (Charisma May 2007, page 40).

Another Board member of TheCall, James Goll (author of the books, The Seer, Dream Language, and The Prophetic Intercessor), wrote in the same issue of Charisma that the upcoming 7-7-7 Nashville Call will result in “a new breed of radical, fierce, yet humble intercessors… emerging on the scene” (Pg. 14). He points out that “in every generation God raises up forerunners… like John the Baptist…to prepare the way.” What he doesn’t understand is that the spirit of antichrist does the same thing in the use of his forerunner the false prophet. And since they do not acknowledge a Premillennial return of Christ Jesus, what are they forerunning?

Whereas TheCall and Charisma Magazine say they are anticipating a revival like Azusa Street, they seem to have opposition by certified false prophet Kim Clement. In the current issue of Elijah List’s magazine Elijah Rain (May, 2007) which features a full-page ad for TheCall, “prophet” Clement prophesied first person as if from God:

“The four years that I have dictated are now coming close to an end and a swift change in the churches – in My house – for suddenly that which happened on the day of Pentecost will suddenly begin to happen again…and they shall say, ‘Is this a revisitation of Azusa Street?’ No, no, there shall be a revisitation of nothing, for you shall not recapture the past anymore. You will capture the future and you will bring it into existence.”

So Clement’s supposed word from God contradicted the “prophets” of Elijah List and TheCall. In fact, according to Clement, rather than a revival in the church, he is predicting an imminent revival in the homosexual community, though he says absolutely nothing about homosexuals repenting and being delivered out of their sin. His prophecy concluded:

“One of the greatest revivals shall take place in San Francisco with the gay people (how nice that God usespolitically correct terms). Many cried out against My servant, Haggard. Yes, My servant Haggard, who fell…and I ran after him…I put My Spirit upon him as a small child. Ted Haggard, I will raise you up to be a voice to the gay community, and you will be an evangelist that shall raise them up to speak the Word; for I will restore, says the Lord.’” (pp. 22-23).

Wrong concepts of prayer, wrong concepts of the Kingdom of God, wrong concepts of revival, wrong concepts of authority, wrong attitudes toward human government and our own citizenship — all equal a gathering of confusion. If anything is spawned by the Nashville event of 7-7-07, it won’t be anything holy – that’s for sure!

♥♥♥

“Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink. For the Lord has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers. The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, ‘Read this, please.’ And he says, ‘I cannot, for it is sealed.’ Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, ‘Read this, please.’ And he says, ‘I am not literate.’ Therefore the Lord said: ‘Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.’” — Isaiah 29:9-14

LUKE 10

21In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

22All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately,

24For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Thousands Pray, Fast 24 Hours for God's Healing in Detroit

Thousands of people who joined TheCall Detroit spent 24 hours praying and calling out to God for healing in the city. Though the event was met with some protest, participants came out of it convinced that God was already moving.

"It was an awesome 24 hour time of prayer & worship. We are tired. The Lord is moving in Motown," Pam Olsen tweeted Saturday.

The event kicked off Friday night with participants fasting, praying and singing at Ford Field. With no big name bands or speakers, the event was touted as a solemn assembly, rather than a festival, where worshippers seek God.

"We are not just seeking to have a good gathering. We are trying to move heaven on behalf of a desperate situation in Detroit," Lou Engle, co-founder of TheCall, said ahead of the event.

Though Engle stressed that the gathering was meant to break down all barriers and unite people as they seek God's healing hand, some saw the event as divisive, anti-Muslim and anti-abortion.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations – Michigan sounded the alarm and warned local mosques that TheCall would demonize Muslims.

In support of the Muslim community, some pastors held a small counter-rally outside the stadium Friday night and others chose to pull out of the event.

Bishop Wayne T. Jackson of Great Faith Ministries told The Detroit News that TheCall is "not anti-anything."

"I know people are getting confused about the rumors out there ... And we know there's word out there in the Muslim community that we're coming out against them, but we're not," he told the local paper. "This city needs healing."

Local clergy who supported TheCall expressed a need for prayer and healing not just in Detroit, which has been hit hard by the economic downturn, but the entire country.

The Pentecostal-style event consisted of worshipping and praying. Some participants opted to rest during some part of the 24 hours while others chose to stick it out all the way until the end – 6 p.m. Saturday.

Pastor Barbara J. Yoder, founding apostle and senior pastor of Shekinah Christian Church in Ann Arbor, Mich., stood on stage in the final hours of the event to motivate and challenge the city.

"God is beginning to overtake this territory and God is raising up leaders," she said. "God is calling you into the darkest places of Detroit.

"We call forth the awakening to break through ... God is going to visit this nation with an awakening!"

TheCall is a 10-year-old movement that was co-founded by Engle, who had a vision to call young adults into a lifestyle of radical prayer and fasting.

Pastors Prepping for TheCall Detroit Tell Muslims 'We Love You'

Pastors in Detroit are trying to calm Muslim communities that are cautiously upping security at Islamic mosques and schools on Friday as the 24-hour prayer event TheCall kicks off. The group of clergy are proclaiming messages of brotherly love for Muslims and renewal for the Motor City.

“We LOVE MUSLIMS!! But I know someone who loves them even more than we do! Jesus,” Jubilee City Church Pastor Marcellis Smith tweeted Friday morning. He followed up two hours later simply proclaiming, “We love Muslims!!”

The emphasis on love comes after the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations held a Wednesday press conference warning Muslims about TheCall.

Detroit CAIR spokesman Dawud Walid told ABC7, “This group has propagated over a video that Muslims are demon possessed and they believe in exorcisms to the point of going to certain locations and driving stakes into the ground.”

As a result, Walid said area mosques have been warned to heighten their security efforts this weekend.

Walid also told the local television station that he feared the Christian prayer event would foster an atmosphere of hatred and intolerance towards Muslims.

“Our other concern is when you have a movement in the name of religion, in the name of Christianity that is demonizing an entire group of people.”

TheCall is a 10-year movement that has called together crowds of young Christians in various states to pray and fast for 24 hours.

Lou Engle, the movement’s founder, calls on participants to embrace the message of Joel 2 when the Israelites are called to return to God through fasting, weeping and mourning. The end result is an outpouring of blessings and spirit-filled action.

In videos for TheCall Detroit, Engle and Detroit pastors made no mention of Muslims. Rather, the event leaders spoke about renewal for the economically-depressed manufacturing city.

“We’re believing that on 11-11-11, when the body of Christ from all over the nation converge here on this field of dreams, we believe, with united fasting and prayer, God is going to answer from heaven [and] He’s going to bring healing to this city,” Engle said.

Still Walid criticized the videotaped messages, saying, “They’ve brought one group of messages to certain pastors that didn’t mention Muslims but when you go online, do research and look at their videos [you see] that they clearly talked about Muslims and how Islam is not even a religion, that we’re demon possessed.”

The Christian Post found a video online where Morning Star Ministries leader Rick Joyner and Engle discuss the growing Muslim community all over the world and in Dearborn, Mich., and their conversion to Christianity.

Joyner said, “One of the things that Detroit has become known for is the largest Muslim community in our nation, in Dearborn. It’s growing and many have said that there’s actually going to [be an] attempt to make Michigan our first Muslim state.”

He continued, “Islam is in our face everywhere we turn and here, in America, this is the one place where it is most in our face right now.”

In the video, Engle responds, “On 11-11-11, the Lord just clearly showed to us that you got to pray all night long because it’s when the Muslims sleep. And all of over the world, Muslims are having dreams of Jesus.”

He continued, “We believe God wants to invade, with His love, Dearborn with dreams of Jesus. We gathering together to say ‘God pour out your grace and revelation of Jesus all over Dearborn and the Muslim communities of North and South America.’”

The video, which was edited and posted on the website of liberal watchdog group Right Wing Watch, made no mention of demon-possessed Muslims or exorcisms outside of mosques.

CP was not able to find the full video in Joyner’s Morning Star YouTube Channel.

The controversy surrounding the event has forced local pastors to offer friendly gestures to the Muslim community. Just before the 4:30 start of the pre-Call event, Smith tweeted, “Don’t get it twisted, its a fast, not a festival! EVERYONE is welcome!! BTW We LOVE Muslims, no rhetoric, no spin.”

TheCall Detroit begins at 6 p.m. on Friday at Ford Field stadium and ends at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Leaders are expecting 50,000 to 100,000 to attend.

Detroit Clergy Divided Over TheCall Prayer Event

Thousands of Christians will gather to seek God's help for the United States at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., this weekend. But while some pastors in the Motor City are expressing their support, others say the event's founders have a radical ideology that is politically charged and divisive.

“All of us in Detroit have been praying hard for the future of our city and everyone in it,” said the Rev. Charles Williams II, pastor of Detroit’s Historic King Solomon Baptist Church and a member of People for the American Way's African American Ministers in Action. “We need to keep on praying and we need to keep on working hard for economic and social justice that lifts up every person, rich and poor. What we don’t need is more divisiveness and fear.”

TheCall, a 24-hour prayer event, will begin at the football stadium on Friday. According to the event's website, TheCall founder Lou Engle has a passion “to call young adults into a lifestyle of radical prayer, fasting, holiness and acts of justice.”

TheCall events have taken place in different cities across the country for over a decade. They don't promote bands or speakers, but instead invite Christians to join in “solemn assemblies” where they can pray and fast with the hope of seeing God “pour out His Spirit” on America.

“We are coming together, daring to believe that if the Church can unite in prayer, it can actually begin to be a healing for the fractured society of America,” Engle wrote in a blog post from September.

Williams told reporters on Wednesday, however, that the event's leaders promote anti-Muslim, anti-abortion and anti-homosexual beliefs and hope to be a divisive force between the faith communities in the city of Detroit, The Associated Press reports. As a result, clergy and activists in the community are planning to march to the stadium and hold their own prayer rally, one that they say is in favor of the city and not against any particular religion, during TheCall.

"Religious leaders who support [TheCall] should really take a look at what its undertones are all about. As a Christian pastor I support prayer, but not to bash another religion, nor to hide behind the subterfuge of political gamesmanship,” Williams said in a statement.

Last week Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations – Michigan, warned local mosques that TheCall could be a security concern for them. He told CP that the theology of the event's leaders demonizes Muslims, and he is concerned participants from TheCall may try to “harass or provoke” Muslim worshippers Friday evening.

“Our Muslim neighbors in Detroit and Dearborn want the same things that all of us want – jobs to support our families and the freedom to live our lives as we choose,” said Williams. “Those like Rev. Engle who come into the state stir up fear about a mythical ‘Muslim takeover’ and set us against each other, distract from the real problems that we face. We can’t face our problems and lift ourselves up if we are busy tearing each other down. Let’s work, and pray, together for the future of our city.”

Williams said he is expecting members of Occupy Detroit, who have set up camp in the small park where the march will begin, to join in the march and prayer rally on Friday evening. At the anti-TheCall event, they will pray for God's help in matters like the economy and education.

But while some pastors are critical of TheCall, others are excited about it.

Marcellis Smith, lead pastor of Jubilee City in Detroit, wrote on his Facebook account, “Urgent!! Breaking News!! THOUSANDS upon Thousands will gather to fast & pray in Detroit at Ford Field!! – Daring to believe AMERICA COULD TURN BACK TO GOD! The Lion ROOARRS!!! #11.11.11 #TheCall.”

All 24 hours of TheCall Detroit will be shown live on God TV this weekend, allowing anyone to take part in the event regardless of where they live.

"It is only through prayer and fasting that we will see revival come to America and the nations," said Wendy Alec, God TV co-founder and director of television. "This weekend is a time for people everywhere to come together through the power of global television to consecrate themselves and cry out to the Lord to see spiritual breakthrough come to the USA as well as into their own lives and communities."
