US to weigh gay rights in foreign aid

The Obama administration will begin considering how countries treat gay and lesbian citizens when making decisions about allocating foreign aid, an official familiar with the decision says.

The White House is expected to issue a presidential memorandum announcing the change Tuesday morning. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will follow up the announcement with a speech in Geneva later in the day.

The presidential memorandum is the first U.S. government strategy to deal with human rights abuses against gays and lesbians abroad.

The official spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to discuss the announcement before it was announced.

Obama, Clinton to world: Stop gay discrimination

GENEVA (AP) — The Obama administration bluntly warned the world against gay and lesbian discrimination Tuesday, declaring the U.S. will use foreign assistance as well as diplomacy to back its insistence that gay rights are fully equal to other basic human rights.

In unusually strong language, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton compared the struggle for gay equality to difficult passages toward women's rights and racial equality, and she said a country's cultural or religious traditions are no excuse for discrimination.

"Gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights," she said. "It should never be a crime to be gay."

Clinton's audience included diplomats from Arab, African and other nations where homosexuality is criminalized or where brutality and discrimination against gay people is tolerated or encouraged.

Obama offers plan for U.S. to be global LGBT sex cop ...
Wants to import homosexuals with special asylum privileges

The Obama administration has announced it intends to make the United States the global sex cop, with plans to try to intervene in the workings of other nations where homosexuality is not promoted as well as plans to create special provisions for homosexuals and those with other lifestyle choices to gain special admittance to the U.S.

Among the provisions is a specific call for the U.S. government to "enhance" its work to provide services to "LGBT refugees and asylum seekers."

"Who knew when Reagan was talking about being a shining city on the hill the city would turn out to be Sodom," said Peter LaBarbera, chief of Americans for Truth, an Illinois organization active in revealing the truth of homosexuality.

The White House statement is called the Presidential Memorandum – International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons.

In the introduction to the multi-section document, Obama explains that he's already instructed that agencies "engaged abroad" to already have started "taking action to promote the fundamental human rights of LGBT persons everywhere."

Specifically, his plan is to try to intervene in other nation's internal operations where the homosexual lifestyle choice is at risk. That would happen through U.S. government's agencies that would "strengthen existing efforts to effectively combat the criminalization by foreign governments of LGBT status or conduct and to expand efforts to combat discrimination, homophobia, and intolerance on the basis of LGBT status or conduct."

Further, special access to the United States needs to be provided to any "LGBT" person, Obama explains.

"In order to improve protection for LGBT refugees and asylum seekers at all stages of displacement, the Departments of State and Homeland Security shall enhance their ongoing efforts to ensure that LGBT refugees and asylum seekers have equal access to protection and assistance…," Obama wrote.

He explained that federal workers must be trained to help LGBT class members in their desires.

The enhancements the U.S. offers for those who support the alternative sexual lifestyle choices also means that those agencies helping with foreign aid should step up their involvement with LGBT interests and a special "standing group" should be organized to make sure the U.S. is responding as he wants, Obama said.

Also, the State Department and other agencies "should strengthen the work they have begun and initiate additional efforts in these multilateral fora and organizations to … counter discrimination on the basis of LGBT status; broaden the number of countries willing to support and defend LGBT issues… " and other outreaches.

The statement from Obama came just a day after his press secretary refused to answer a question about the appropriateness of a Senate vote to remove the ban on bestiality from the law that governs the nation's military.

Those who have been involved in the confrontations over the demands for "rights" from homosexual and other groups in America said the move is extraordinarily inappropriate.

"America is not being a post-Christian nation … We're anti-Christian. We're directly at war with Judeo-Christian ethics," LaBarbera told WND. "Also [at war with] Muslims and the ethics in other countries. We're turning human history on its head."

He said Obama, and his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, literally are "redefining sin."

"In all of the colonies, through our whole history, homosexuality has been forbidden," he said. "Now all of a sudden we're going to be lecturing other countries, forcing other nations to follow the new-fangled version of human rights."

He said regarding Obama press secretary Jay Carney's handling of the question about military bestiality, the very things that have been said about homosexuality and rights could apply to bestiality and rights, or pedophilia and rights, or other alternative lifestyle choices and rights.

"On what basis," he asked, "can we say that's [pedophilia or bestiality] beyond the pale? NAMBLA [the North American Man-Boy Love Association for ped0philess] used to walk in gay pride parades."

"Human rights are rooted in biblical, Judeo-Christianity's idea of rights. This is unbelievable. They are twisting what human rights are. If there's a right to homosexual behavior, why isn't there a right to polygamy, adultery, incest?"

Randy Thomasson, of of SaveCalifornia.com, has been involved in that state's fights over the indoctrination of sexual alternatives in public schools as well as the fight over the voter-approved constitutional amendment that defines marriage as being only between one man and one woman.

He said the promotion by Obama and Hillary Clinton of homosexuality simply isn't rooted in the facts.

"Homosexuality has never shown evidence that it is inherited, or has a genetic or biological origin. The 'gay gene' doesn't exist. Race and ethnicity are inherited, but homosexuality is not inherited," he said.

"Obama and Hillary Clinton need to take a science course on human sexuality and genetics and learn what they think is right is scientifically wrong," he said.

He said the classification of homosexuality as a "right" is a "fatal error" that threatens children, accurate science, good health, real marriage, religious freedom, free speech as well as property rights.

He's assembled information about homosexuality and releases it through his NotBornThisWay website.

That explains homosexuality is not, in fact, genetic, nor is it healthy. It also includes offers of assistance for those struggling to leave homosexuality.

Matt Barber, an official with Liberty Counsel, also told WND, "How dare we, the U.S., export our decline in morality to other nations? This president has brought shame upon our nation by using extortion. I use a strong word there, extortion, in an attempt to compel other nations to adopt every demand of the radical homosexual lobby."

He noted the urgency of Obama's concern about homosexuals under fire around the world, yet notes that it is Christian men, women and children, who are "slaughtered" daily under anti-Christian regimes.

It was GOP presidential hopeful and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., who said the vote in the Senate to repeal the military's ban on sodomy and bestiality was "absolutely abhorrent."

She made the comments last night on Glenn Beck's web television program.

Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, had asked press secretary Jay Carney, "The Family Research Council and CNS News both reported a 93-to-7 U.S. Senate vote to approve a defense authorization bill that, quote, 'includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, but also repeals the military ban on sex with animals, or bestiality.' Does the commander in chief approve or disapprove of bestiality in our armed forces?"

Carney said, "I don't have any comment on – I don't have any comment on that. Let me go to another question."

See the exchange that happened at the White House:

Kinsolving tried to ask whether the president thought it would be endorsed by animal support groups, and Carney said, "Let's get to something more serious."

Clinton Says Obama Wants Gay Rights Over Religious Freedom in Key Speech

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton yesterday put the Obama administration clearly on the opposite side of Christians seeking religious freedom in the debate over human sexuality, prompting praise from gay rights activists and criticism from GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry.

In remarks on Tuesday in Geneva to the United Nations, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said religious and cultural beliefs are standing in the way of homosexual human rights worldwide.

“Now, raising this issue, I know, is sensitive for many people and that the obstacles standing in the way of protecting the human rights of LGBT people rest on deeply held personal, political, cultural, and religious beliefs,” said Clinton.

Called a “landmark” speech by the homosexual community, Clinton announced that the U.S. would spend $3 million in aid and the full strength of their diplomacy to expand the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people worldwide.

Texas Gov. and GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry, an outspoken critical of special rights for sexual orientation, was critical of the administrations comments.

“President Obama has again mistaken America’s tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles,” Perry said in a statement. “I will not make that mistake.”

“Some suggest that gay rights and human rights are separate and distinct, but in fact they are one and the same,” Clinton said.

Clinton’s speech – delivered to an international audience – may be a response to growing restiveness in an LGBT community frustrated over the Obama administration’s reluctance to fully endorse same sex marriage in the U.S. Obama critics say the venue was chosen to lessen its political impact and not because the President does not support the gay rights agenda.

Short of fully endorsing same-sex marriage, the Obama administration has taken a number of steps to support gay rights on the international stage. It recently circulated a memo saying that the U.S. government would fight against abuse of LGBT individuals in foreign countries. Clinton’s speech appears to be evidence of that commitment.

“Now, there is still, as you all know, much more to be done to secure that commitment, that reality, and progress for all people. Today, I want to talk about the work we have left to do to protect one group of people whose human rights are still denied in too many parts of the world today,” Clinton stated.

“In many ways, they are an invisible minority. They are arrested, beaten, terrorized, even executed. Many are treated with contempt and violence by their fellow citizens while authorities empowered to protect the look the other way or, too often, even join in the abuse…I am talking about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, human beings born free and given bestowed equality and dignity, who have a right to claim that, which is now one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time.”

Critics of Clinton’s speech will want to know where and how the $3 million is going to be spent, especially since many of the countries that she was addressing have an outright ban on homosexuality and insist that homosexuality is a “western” problem.

For example, Saudi Arabia, a U.S. ally, forbids homosexuality and can punish with offense with flogging or in some cases, death. The Nigerian senate banned same-sex marriage and imposed a 14-year prison sentence for offenders.

"I certainly don't believe homosexuals or anyone else should be flogged or put to death for their sexual sins," Dr. Richard Land of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission told The Christian Post. "However, I don't believe homosexuals should receive special treatment over and above anyone else either. Secretary Clinton's remarks were more than likely a painless way for the Obama administration to placate to the homosexual community in the U.S."

AND IT BEGINS......

Quote
Malawi will review a series of controversial laws, including a ban on homosexual acts, Justice Minister Ephraim Chiume has said.

Mr Chiume said the review was in response to "public opinion".

Western governments criticised Malawi last year for jailing a gay couple on sodomy charges.

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the US would use foreign aid to encourage countries to decriminalise homosexuality.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron expressed a similar view in October, saying that gay rights were a human right.

Homosexual acts are illegal in most African countries, where they are often viewed as un-Christian and un-Islamic.

Mr Chiume said provisions of the penal code concerning "indecent practices and unnatural acts" would be reviewed.

"In view of the sentiments from the general public and in response to public opinion regarding certain laws, the government wishes to announce to the Malawi nation that it is submitting the relevant laws and provisions of laws to the Law Commission for review," he said.

Last year, a gay couple were sentenced to 14 years in prison for sodomy, after they held an engagement ceremony in the city of Blantyre.

During their trial, President Bingu wa Mutharika called homosexuality "evil and very bad before the eyes of God". He later pardoned them following international condemnation of the sentence.

According to Africa Review, other laws which will be reviewed include one which allows the information minister to ban newspapers deemed not to be serving the interest of Malawians, as well as a law preventing people taking legal action against the government and public officials.

The UK and other donors have already cut aid to Malawi, amid criticism of its economic policies and its attitude to the opposition and journalists.

In April, the UK and Malawi expelled each other's diplomatic envoys after Wikileaks published a cable citing the British High Commissioner accusing President Mutharika of "not tolerating criticism".

So what we see here is a case of the world telling the two largest religions on the planet that they must practice their religion the way the world says or they will cut them off from the world, which is a type of death sentence, in effect.

Forcing the mark on people isn't as far off as some think. "Watch"

Hillary Clinton: ‘Religious Beliefs’ Are ‘Standing in the Way of Protecting Human Rights of LGBT People'

Religious beliefs and cultural values do not justify the failure to uphold the human rights of homosexuals, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told the United Nations in Geneva on Tuesday.

"Now, raising this issue, I know, is sensitive for many people and that the obstacles standing in the way of protecting the human rights of LGBT people rest on deeply held personal, political, cultural, and religious beliefs," Clinton said.

Her speech at the Geneva headquarters of the United Nations and its Human Rights Council (HRC) was delivered ahead of Human Rights Day on December 10, the anniversary of the U.N.’s adoption in 1948 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

With Syrian abuses having been at the forefront of the Human Rights Council’s attention in recent days and weeks, Clinton’s focus on “LGBT rights” was unexpected, even after President Obama’s signing earlier in the day of a memorandum which the White House called the “first-ever U.S. government strategy dedicated to combating human rights abuses against LGBT persons abroad.” (See story)

Clinton said recognition that LGBT people "are entitled to the full measure of dignity and rights" has evolved over time: "And as it did, we understood that we were honoring rights that people always had, rather than creating new or special rights for them. Like being a woman, like being a racial, religious, tribal, or ethnic minority, being LGBT does not make you less human. And that is why gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights."

Clinton noted that among the challenges facing LGBT people is "when people cite religious or cultural values as a reason to violate or not to protect the human rights of LGBT citizens. This is not unlike the justification offered for violent practices towards women like honor killings, widow burning, or female genital mutilation. Some people still defend those practices as part of a cultural tradition. But violence toward women isn't cultural; it's criminal. Likewise with slavery, what was once justified as sanctioned by God is now properly reviled as an unconscionable violation of human rights," she said.

"In each of these cases, we came to learn that no practice or tradition trumps the human rights that belong to all of us. And this holds true for inflicting violence on LGBT people, criminalizing their status or behavior, expelling them from their families and communities, or tacitly or explicitly accepting their killing.

"Rarely are cultural and religious traditions and teachings actually in conflict with the protection of human rights," Clinton continued. "Indeed, our religion and our culture are sources of compassion and inspiration toward our fellow human beings. It was not only those who’ve justified slavery who leaned on religion, it was also those who sought to abolish it. And let us keep in mind that our commitments to protect the freedom of religion and to defend the dignity of LGBT people emanate from a common source.

“For many of us, religious belief and practice is a vital source of meaning and identity, and fundamental to who we are as people. And likewise, for most of us, the bonds of love and family that we forge are also vital sources of meaning and identity. And caring for others is an expression of what it means to be fully human. It is because the human experience is universal that human rights are universal and cut across all religions and cultures."

According to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, homosexual acts are punishable by death in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Mauritania, Sudan and Yemen, as well as in parts of Nigeria under shari’a law.

Countries whose laws allow for imprisonment of 10 years or more for homosexuality include Libya, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and Guyana, it says.

A number of other countries have penalties of prison terms of less than ten years, fines or other restrictions.

‘At war with people of faith’

During a background briefing in Geneva, a senior State Department official was asked about the administration’s view on same-sex marriage in the context of its new policy of promoting LGBT rights worldwide.

President Obama and Clinton have both stated publicly that they oppose same-sex marriage.

“I think the secretary and the president have both spoken about their personal views on marriage,” the official replied. “And I think that one of the things that comes up a lot in the international context is that, as in America, elsewhere there’s a ongoing debate about gay marriage.

“But whatever our position on gay marriage, I think one of the things that many of us have been working toward finding an agreement on is the fact that no matter what you think about that question, we can all agree that people ought not be killed or imprisoned for who they are and who they love,” the official said.

Republican presidential candidates Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Sen. Rick Santorum both criticized the administration’s LGBT announcements.

“Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money,” Perry said in a statement, adding that the policy was “just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country.”

“Obviously the administration is promoting their particular agenda in this country, and now they feel its their obligation to promote those values not just in the military, not just in our society, but now around the world with taxpayer dollars,” CNN quoted Santorum as telling reporters in Iowa

He said Obama must make his stance on same-sex marriage clear.

“He said he’s for traditional marriage, and now he’s promoting gay lifestyles and gay rights and he’s fighting against traditional marriage within the courts, and I think he needs to be honest,” Santorum said.

Africa reacts to Obama's pro-gay rights foreign policy

Most of Africa's 54 nations ban homosexuality, so President Obama's promotion of gay rights as a human right draws quick ire from African governments.

The enshrinement of equal rights for homosexuals into US foreign policy activities has drawn quick ire from African nations, with one senior figure saying the notion is “abhorrent” across the continent.

President Obama has instructed officials across government to “ensure that US diplomacy and foreign assistance promote and protect the human rights of lesbian, gay, and transgender persons” around the world.

Under the move, legal, moral, and financial support will be boosted for gay rights organizations, emergency assistance will be sent to groups or individuals facing threats, and asylum in the US will be offered to people forced to flee homophobic persecution in their countries, Mr. Obama said.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton outlined the new focus in a speech marking international human rights day in Geneva Tuesday night.

Calling discrimination of homosexual and transgender people “one of the remaining human rights challenges of our time,” Secretary Clinton said “gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights.”

“It is violation of human rights when people are beaten or killed because of their sexual orientation, or because they do not conform to cultural norms about how men and women should look or behave,” she said. “It is a violation of human rights when governments declare it illegal to be gay, or allow those who harm gay people to go unpunished.”

John Nagenda, a senior adviser to Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni, told The Monitor that this view would be “anathema” to most African nations.

“I don’t like her tone, at all,” he said.

“I’m amazed she’s not looking to her own country and lecturing them first, before she comes to say these things which she knows are very sensitive issues in so many parts of the world, not least Africa.

“Homosexuality here is taboo, it’s something anathema to Africans, and I can say that this idea of Clinton’s, of Obama’s, is something that will be seen as abhorrent in every country on the continent that I can think of.”

Almost all of Africa’s 54 nations ban homosexuality. Uganda drew opprobrium from across the West last year when a bill was tabled in parliament that would have imposed the death penalty for what was termed “aggravated homosexuality.” The bill has since been shelved, but being found to be gay still risks a maximum 14-year jail sentence and Amnesty International has reported arbitrary arrests and torture of suspected gay people in Uganda.

More recently, Nigeria’s Senate last week agreed a proposed law banning same-sex marriages, again imposing 14-year jail terms for people found guilty, and adding a 10-year sentence for anyone who helps homosexuals marry.

Writing in Nigeria’s Tribune newspaper Thursday, columnist Leon Usigbe wrote that the new US gay rights policy would provoke a “significant diplomatic confrontation” between Washington and Africa’s most populous country.

“Diplomatic sources hinted on Wednesday that the timing of the Obama presidential order was too closely tied to the recent passing of a bill by the Senate banning same-sex marriage and relationships,” Usigbe said.

State Department officials say the timing of the announcement, on Tuesday, was more to do with it being international human rights day than any sudden external impetus.

But in Kenya, influential church leaders immediately condemned the idea that lesbian, gay, and transgender people deserved extra support to achieve equal rights.

“We don’t believe in advancing the rights of gays,” said Oliver Kisaka, deputy general secretary of the National Council of Churches of Kenya.

“God did not make a mistake; [being gay] is that person’s own perception. Those who live as gays need help to live right and we should not be supporting them to live in a wrong reality.

“Society should reach out to gays and transgender people to help them out of their situation. They have not ceased to be God’s children and no one is a gone case.”

Such strident views will draw widespread support in Kenya, and across Africa, but there is some indication that the situation is changing.

Last year, Rwanda’s justice minister, Tharcisse Karugarama, confirmed that there were no plans to criminalize homosexuality there, after fears that a law similar to Uganda’s was in the offing.

South Africa, where gay rights are entrenched in the post-apartheid Constitution, took the lead by introducing a resolution to the UN’s Human Rights Council in June that recognized the need to protect the rights of LGBT people around the world. It was passed by 23 votes to 19, with most African and Arab nations opposing or dissenting.

In her speech, Secretary Clinton was not unaware of the debate her comments would provoke. But she referred to earlier campaigns on women’s rights and the fight for racial and religious equality as battles already won from which gay people worldwide could draw strength.

“Step by step, barriers that once prevented people from enjoying the full measure of liberty, the full experience of dignity, and the full benefits of humanity have fallen away,” she said.

It will take a long time for that view to percolate down to the majority of Africans, says John Nagenda, the Ugandan presidential adviser.

“A very, very slowly increasing number of Ugandans, and I am one of them, see homosexuals as full human beings who can do what they like in private, between consenting adults,” he said.

“But people look at me like I am a very funny fish when I say these things, even in my own household, such is the way that these things are looked at on this continent.”

Taxpayers to pay $3 million to promote worldwide homosexual advocacy, Lady Gaga concerts

 Huh  Shocked  Roll Eyes

As part of a worldwide campaign to promote global acceptance of homosexuality, the Obama administration has established a $3 million “Global Equality Fund” to fund homosexual political “advocacy” around the world at taxpayer expense. State Department guidelines suggest this could include everything from funding foreign political activists to campaign against legislation that defines marriage as a union between one man and one women, to hosting gay pride parades and concerts by Lady Gaga in far-flung countries.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton trumpeted the formation of the group in a speech she delivered in Geneva on Tuesday. “I am also pleased to announce that we are launching a new Global Equality Fund that will support the work of civil society organizations working on these issues around the world,” Clinton said.

“This fund will help them record facts so they can target their advocacy, learn how to use the law as a tool, manage their budgets, train their staffs, and forge partnerships with women’s organizations and other human rights groups,” Clinton said.

She noted the administration had “committed more than $3 million” of taxpayer funds to start this organization. The State Department’s website describes the fund as a “public-private partnership” that “will seek partnership commitments from donor governments, corporations, and foundations.”

A State Department fact sheet reveals that its Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) will “support programming through the Global Equality Fund.” This will include boosting “NGO capacity to advocate before host governments and in multilateral forums” on behalf of LGBT causes. The DRL asks homosexual groups to assist them in documenting cases of discrimination.

The fund will also pay for international “programs that enhance public awareness and further positive dialogue” about homosexuality, “such as inclusive civic education and cultural activities, and build diverse human rights coalitions around public messaging.”

The fact sheet suggests these could include such events as gay pride parades and concerts by Lady Gaga – the controversial pop singer who raised the ire of Christians earlier this year when she released a video for her song Judas that depicted her at one point dressed as Mary Magdalene, sensuously nibbling Jesus Christ’s ear.

The State Department boasts it “helped convince pop artist and LGBT advocate Lady Gaga to perform at EuroPride Rome in June 2011.”

Obama’s closest adviser, Valerie Jarrett, wrote on Tuesday that she was “deeply moved” by the pop singer’s activism.

The Global Equality Fund is only one small part of an ambitious agenda to recast all U.S. foreign policy to support the LGBT cause around the world. On Tuesday, Barack Obama issued a presidential memorandum instructing foreign embassies to “expand efforts to combat discrimination, homophobia, and intolerance on the basis of LGBT status or conduct” in their host countries.

What you do in bedroom
private? Not to Obama ...
Look what president now thinks
is worthy of special treatment

Want a job with the federal government?

You may want to list your sexual orientation – preferably one of the alternative lifestyle choices – to enhance your chances.

That's after an executive order signed by President Obama makes it a goal to hire people who reflect his ideals of "diversity and inclusion."

Presidential Executive Order 13583, signed without fanfare on Main Street, has since been touted as an effort to strengthen America. It's described by the administration:

"A commitment to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion is critical for the federal government as an employer.

"By law, the federal government's recruitment policies should 'endeavor to achieve a work force from all segments of society.'"
One federal executive says about the order, the "United States is at its strongest when we embrace all of our talents, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity."

n a nine-page strategic plan launched by Obama's signature on this executive order, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, within the Office of Personnel Management, set a new bar for the recruiting, hiring, and retention of federal workers:

"As the nation's largest employer, the federal government has an obligation to lead by example."

It goes on to say, "In order to cultivate high performing organizations for the 21st century, the federal government must tap into the rich resources of our global community and ensure fairness and justice in the workplace."

So now the federal government apparently will be going overseas to hunt for workers who meet Obama's ideals regarding sexual orientation or gender identity.

That aligns with a just-released report that the Obama administration intends to make the United States the global sex cop, with plans to try to intervene in the workings of other nations where homosexuality is not promoted as well as plans to create special provisions for homosexuals and those with other lifestyle choices to gain special admittance to the U.S.

Among the provisions is a specific call for the U.S. government to "enhance" its work to provide services to "LGBT refugees and asylum seekers."

"Who knew when Reagan was talking about being a shining city on the hill the city would turn out to be Sodom," said Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, an Illinois organization active in revealing the truth of homosexuality.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has chimed in on the comprehensive, government-wide strategy regarding LGBT rights, with a speech to the "global community" in honor of International Human Rights day.

"The Obama administration defends the human rights of LGBT people as part of our comprehensive human rights policy and as a priority of our foreign policy," she said.

Clinton then announced the formation of a Global Equality Fund to help advance these policies. The U.S. will start the fund with "more than $3 million," but Clinton urged all other countries to join in.

The White House website has a section devoted to informing the LGBT community of the "historic" efforts Obama has advanced for them: "The Obama administration has taken decisive actions and made historic strides to advance Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender equality and strengthen LGBT families and communities, and continues to do so."

On this White House blog, John Berry, director of the Office of Personnel Management, praises the efforts of the OPM and Obama to "institutionalize equality in the nation's largest workforce."

While recently visiting the LGBT center of Colorado, Berry said he has a strategy to "bring equality to the OPM:"

From dismantling the discriminatory policies of the past to actively encouraging lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals to work in and for our government."

In another White House blog, Hilda Solis, secretary of the Department of Labor, announces how she and Obama have redefined federal rules regarding hiring discrimination.

"In April, I issued an order to change my department's equal employment opportunity policy to add gender identity as a protected category.

"I did that because it was the right thing to do and because no one should be denied a job or a promotion because of their gender identity or how they choose to express it."

Solis also lists other achievements in her tenure as Secretary of Labor: "Last year, we announced that the Family and Medical Leave Act applies to loving families with two mothers or two fathers. If you act like a parent, do the work of a parent and raise a child like a parent, then you are a parent, as far as my agency is concerned."

The concerted efforts by Obama to advance the LGBT movement are evident throughout the federal government that promised to bring "change" to America.

Shaun Donovan, secretary of Housing and Urban Development, touted several more accomplishments at a recent "Transgender Equality" awards ceremony.

"I was proud to represent an administration that has done remarkable work to advance equality for transgender people.

"Indeed, whether it's the record number of transgender appointments President Obama has made to the federal government, the Office of Personnel Management's announcement prohibiting gender identity discrimination for federal employment, or passing a hate crimes bill that represents the first-ever federal civil rights legislation to include the words 'sexual orientation' and 'gender identity,' the Obama administration has treated the fight for equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community not as an issue, but as a priority."

The "change" that Obama brought with him to Washington also apparently is spreading. Just ask former Macy's employee Natalie Johnson of San Antonio.

She saw a man walking out of the fitting room reserved for women at the San Antonio, Texas, Macy's and "politely told him that he could not go back in because it was for women only."

She pointed out that Macy's has a religious nondiscrimination policy and the actions violated her beliefs.

Macy's fired her.

Matt Staver, founder of the Liberty Council, says, "Macy's has essentially opened women's dressing rooms to every man."

In a related development, a White House statement called the "Presidential Memorandum – International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons" instructs federal agencies to promote "rights" of LGBT persons. .

"In order to improve protection for LGBT refugees and asylum seekers at all stages of displacement, the Departments of State and Homeland Security shall enhance their ongoing efforts to ensure that LGBT refugees and asylum seekers have equal access to protection and assistance," Obama wrote.

He explained that federal workers must be trained to help LGBT members in their desires.

The US is not enough for these people they want the whole planet to be pro-gay Angry

"Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s announcement in Geneva Tuesday night that the U.S. would be marketing gay rights as an international issue sparked both praise and criticisms from nations around the world, particularly from those in Africa.

According to President Obama, the U.S. plans on using foreign aid to “promote and protect the human rights of lesbian, gay, and transgender persons.” This means that America will ramp up legal, financial, and moral support to gay groups or individuals around the globe who are facing threats. Obama also added that asylum in the U.S. will be offered to people forced to flee homophobic persecutions.

In sub-Saharan Africa, homophobia is widespread and most African countries have come out denouncing Clinton’s initiative. For example, Nigeria reacted so strongly against Clinton’s gay rights speech that it added more anti-gay offenses to the already long list. The current bill states that same-sex kissing in public is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Nigeria isn’t the only country with strict anti-gay laws such as this. If they choose not to cooperate with the gay rights agenda of the Obama administration, here is a list of countries that could see a deduction of U.S. foreign assistance, some of which carry the death penalty for homosexuality:

Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Lesoto, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra, Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

“I don’t like her tone, at all,” John Nagenda, senior adviser to Uganda’s president, Yoweri Museveni, told The Christian Science Monitor speaking of Clinton’s speech.

“I’m amazed she’s not looking to her own country and lecturing them first, before she comes to say these things which she knows are very sensitive issues in so many parts of the world, not least Africa.”

Nagenda said homosexuality in his country is taboo. “t’s something anathema to Africans, and I can say that this idea of Clinton’s, of Obama’s, is something that will be seen as abhorrent in every country on the continent that I can think of.”

In South and Central America, most headlines regarding the speech took the viewpoint that Obama’s policies have been hijacked, or at least heavily influenced, by gay rights activists.

One headline on the front of Venezuela’s El Universal newspaper reads (translated from Spanish): "The rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are at the heart of [America's] foreign policy." A translated version of the article goes on to imply that this policy shift has something to do with electoral votes for the upcoming 2012 presidential election.

"Obama has taken several policy measures to please the gay rights activists, a key group among voters in the Democratic Party, including the final repeal gay taboo in the Army, putting end a law that barred gays declare their sexual preference," the article reads.

Europe and Asia took a more straightforward news approach to Clinton’s speech, both noting that this may be hard for the U.S. to implement considering a lot of key allies seem to be lacking in the gay rights department, most strikingly Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

There is, perhaps unsurprisingly, not much news coming out of the Middle East region in regards to Clinton’s pro-gay rights speech."

High level Freemasons tend to be pedefiles, as are alot of the Roman Catholic priests - unsurprisingly, they are demon-infested.

Funny how all you hear in the media since the 80's is how people "are born gay" and how "we need to come to an acceptance of them". But never to they say how alot of our high level influential people like Ronald Reagan and Obama are homosexuals themselves.

International backlash begins against Obama’s LGBT agenda

The citizens of several countries are pushing back against President Obama’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender foreign policy imperative. Leaders in El Salvador launched a website on “Obama’s Corrupting Foreign Policy” and are asking the U.S. Senate to reject Obama’s nominee for ambassador to their country.

President Obama announced in December that the promotion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) behavior is a top foreign policy priority, even for the U.S. military overseas.  At the same time, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a high-profile speech at the UN equating LGBT status with religion. The State Department told oambassadors worldwide to recognize “gay pride month,” and it released a list of “accomplishments” including the fact that a U.S. ambassador had published an OpEd promoting the LGBT agenda on behalf of the United States .

Mari Carmen Aponte, a temporary ambassador to El Salvador, published an essay conflating disapproval of homosexuality with “brutal hostility” and “aggression” by “those who promote hatred.” It is Salvadorans’ “responsibility” to become advocates for LGBT issues and “to inform our neighbors and friends about what it means to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender,” she wrote. The OpEd ran in a major Salvadoran newspaper in June, igniting a firestorm by offended citizens.

More than three-dozen leaders in Latin American countries rebuked the ambassador. In a declaration in a Salvadoran newspaper, they accused the U.S. representative of “disregarding our profound Christian values, rooted in natural law,” by trying to “impose . . . a new vision of foreign and bizarre values, completely alien to our moral fiber, intending to disguise this as ‘human rights’” with “an air of superiority.” The only thing they agreed with, they stated, is that violence should be repudiated “just the same as against skinny, fat, tall or short” people.

The leaders also sent a letter to U.S. Senators protesting Aponte’s appointment. At a congressional hearing in December, Senator Jim DeMint read their complaint and criticized Aponte’s “presuming to represent the views of all Americans” in her OpEd. “I would like to apologize to the Salvadoran people on behalf of the United States and reassure them that most Americans share their values,” DeMint said.

Salvadorans perceived that the assault extended beyond Aponte and launched a website this week exposing “Obama’s Corrupting Foreign Policies.” It chronicles the campaign by US officials to promote homosexuality, and the counter-campaign by Latin Americans.

The Washington Times, a major Washington, DC newspaper, published a letter from Latin American leaders warning that the aggressive promotion of homosexual rights constitutes a “war on religion.” The Obama administration has placed people in other countries “on the front lines,” the letter said, and is “demeaning our culture and insulting our values.” The leaders wrote, “We support the legitimate human rights of all our citizens. We do not support made up ‘homosexual rights’. We do not appreciate the ambassador from another country coming in and preaching to us. We intend to defend our moral values and preserve our families.”

In Pakistan, the US embassy hosted an LGBT “pride celebration” in June which provoked protests in several cities. A leader of one of the rallies said, “America has unleashed a storm of immoral values” and “we’ll resist at all costs.” The U.S. ambassador to Serbia promoted a homosexual rights march in that country last October which led to riots with an explicitly anti-Western tone.

Ban bucks Obama:

U.N.: Africa leaders should respect 'gay' rights
Many countries on continent outlaw homosexuality

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said yesterday that African nations should stop treating gays as “second-class citizens or even criminals.’’

Ban told African leaders who gathered in Ethiopia’s capital for an African Union summit that discrimination based on sexual orientation “had been ignored or even sanctioned by many states for far too long.’’

Ban said it would be challenging for Africa to confront this discrimination. There was no immediate response from African heads of states to Ban’s speech. Many African countries outlaw homosexuality, and many African churches preach against it.

Dominicans Freak Out Over Obama's Gay Ambassador Pick

Opposition to President Obama's nominee for U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic reached a fever pitch this week as religious organizers stage a "Lunes Negro" or Black Monday protest against James "Wally" Brewster.

If confirmed, Brewster will be the first openly gay ambassador to the country, a prospect that is not going over well with some segments of this conservative Christian country of 9 million people. Local reports indicate that church leaders are pressuring the government to reject Brewster's nomination and calling on the faithful to dress in black on Monday in solidarity against him

Praise Christian Church Pastor Sauford Medrano is quoted in Diario Libre as saying that Brewster could cause "the U.S. promotion of gender beliefs in the country." That supposedly violates a general education law in the country that "all the Dominican education system is based on Christian principles."

The report was flagged by Cable reader and Dominican expat Will Williams, an architect in New York City. He said he witnessed the animosity toward the ambassador in a visit last weekend. "I could confirm myself that the opposition has been even worse from what have been reflected in the news," he said. "As a Dominican, I feel ashamed this is happening in my country ... The evangelical church is convoking the general public to reject this ambassador ... [It's] asking the public to show a black band, black banner or ribbon on cars or dress showing rejection."

In a statement to The Cable, Monica Trasandes, director of Spanish Language Media at GLAAD, defended the president's pick. "We stand with LGBT advocates in the Dominican Republic, who are calling on leaders to quit categorizing their country's population as homophobic," she said. "We hope that James Brewster will help educate those still adversely affected by homophobia and applaud the work of LGBT advocates in the Dominican Republic."

When news of opposition to Brewster first began, the Dominican embassy in Washington told The Cable that the country supports the president's pick. "The Dominican Republic is a democracy with a vibrant media and a wide diversity of opinions on every conceivable topic," the statement read. "However, it is the position of the Government of the Dominican Republic that a person´s sexual preference is strictly a personal matter and it looks forward to working constructively with Mr. Brewster in his official capacity once his nomination is approved by the U.S. Senate."

In June, the AP spoke with Catholic and evangelical church leaders who opposed the nomination. "If he arrives, he'll suffer and will be forced to leave," Vicar Pablo Cedano, told the AP. He said the pick showed "a lack of respect, of consideration, that they send us that kind of person as ambassador." Rev. Cristobal Cardozo, leader of the Dominican Evangelical Fraternity, said the appointment was offensive. "It's an insult to good Dominican customs," he said.

Brewster was a fundraiser for Obama and currently works at the Chicago consulting firm SB&K.

State Dept. Launches New Faith-Based Office

The U.S. State Department is seeking to engage with faith communities across the globe in its efforts to promote U.S. foreign policy.

Secretary of State John Kerry is launching the new Office of Faith-based Community Initiatives Wednesday.

Shaun Casey, a professor of Christian ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary, will head the office and serve as special advisor on religious issues.

The State Department said the new office will work with faith communities on "development objectives" such as fighting poverty and promoting international religious freedom.

US State Dept. Seeks More Engagement With Faith Leaders; Opens New Outreach Office

The U.S. State Department will be reaching out more to religious leaders and communities at home and abroad, Secretary of State John Kerry explained as he announced Wednesday a new Office of Faith-Based Community Initiatives within the State Department.

"I want you to go out and engage religious leaders and faith-based communities in our day-to-day work," Kerry told State Department workers. "Build strong relationships with them and listen to their insights and understand the important contributions that they can make individually and that we can make together."

The new office will be headed by Dr. Shaun Casey, professor of Christian Ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary. An expert on religion and politics, Casey wrote a 2009 book on religion and the 1960 presidential election. During the 2008 presidential campaign, he worked on encouraging evangelicals to vote for then-candidate Barack Obama.

Kerry remarked that he and Casey became friends after meeting at a dinner in 2005 because Casey is a theologian interested in politics and Kerry is a politician interested in religion. If he were in college today, Kerry added, he would major in comparative religion "because that's how integrated it is in everything that we are working on and deciding and thinking about in life today."

Casey, speaking after Kerry, also recalled their conversations about religion and politics.

"At that time," he said, "some were claiming that religion poisons everything, while others were saying that religion would save and solve everything. You knew, however, that the reality was somewhere in between.

"I remember thinking at the time how unusual it was for a public figure to see the potential in and the power of religious groups tackling extreme poverty, convincing people to combat global climate change, fighting for global human rights, mitigating conflict and building peace, even at a time when others focused on those religious folk who committed acts of violent extremism, perversely claiming justice in the name of their own faith. From that day forward, I admired your willingness to defy the conventional wisdom that dictated religion was a purely private, personal choice, and thus communities bounded by faith must be entirely left outside of discussions of policy. That is why, today, engaging these communities in the context of policy has always struck me as being a matter of very great and deep importance."

Melissa Rogers, head of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, echoed Casey's message that religion can be both a force for good or evil.

"We have seen the power of religion throughout human history," she said. "In our own country, for example, we've seen religious leaders join with others in championing causes like abolition, civil rights, and the eradication of poverty. In so doing, these advocates have often led our nation to heed the better angels of its nature.

"Similarly, around the world, on issues ranging from health to education to conflict prevention, religious and other civil society leaders are tackling some of our most pressing challenges. They help create more peaceful and secure communities. Of course, as we know all too well, there are also times when religion is abused to promote violence and destabilize communities."

The new office, Rogers added, will have three primary objectives: promote sustainable development, advance pluralism, human rights, and religious freedom, and address violent conflicts.

Kerry and Rogers both emphasized that the new office will not violate the Constitutional restriction on government establishment of religion or Thomas Jefferson's understanding of a "wall of separation" between government and religion. State Department employees will be given special guidance, Rogers explained, on how they should interact with religious leaders and communities.

"Religious freedom"? Yet another Jesuitical/New Age buzzword - the "religious right" used it, now the "religious left" is doing so too.

Looks like the "religious right", after their influence for so many years, have finally passed the baton to the "religious left". And more proof that both the RR and RL were working hand in hand all along.

U. S. Partially Suspends Aid to Uganda for Criminalizing Homosexual Behavior

U.S. officials have partially suspended aid to the East African country of Uganda for signing into law a bill that criminalized homosexual behavior in the country.

“As a result of this review process, a portion of the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) cooperative agreement with the [Ugandan] Ministry of Health has been put on hold pending this review,” an unnamed official told Reuters this week.

The outlet states that a representative of Uganda’s health ministry confirmed that the department “would no longer be able to access money from a fund used to buy antiretroviral drugs and HIV testing kits.” It is not known exactly how much aid was cut, but last year alone, the department received $3.9 million in U.S. aid.

Ugandan President Yoweri Musevini had signed legislation into law late last month that would require up to life imprisonment for those who engage in “aggravated homosexuality,” meaning those who intentionally spread the HIV virus, commit homosexual pedophilia, or repeatedly engage in sex acts with those of the same gender.

“We have been disappointed for a long time by the conduct of the West, the way you conduct yourselves there,” Musevini, a Christian, told CNN in a recent interview. “Our disappointment is now exacerbated because we are sorry to see that you live the way you live, but we keep quiet about it. Now you say ‘you must also live like us’—that’s where we say no.”

He said that he was not concerned about the possibility that the U.S. would withhold aid in light of Uganda’s position on homosexual behavior.

“Worried? Not at all,” he said. “If the West doesn’t want to work with us because of homosexuals, then we have enough space here to live by ourselves and do business with other people.”

While Musevini and other Ugandan officials have repeatedly received international pressure to abandon the legislation, many Africans fully supported the bill and urged its passage.

“Speaker, we cannot sit back while such [a] destructive phenomenon is taking place in our nation,” stated a petition presented to Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga in 2012. “We therefore, as responsible citizens, feel duty-bound to bring this matter to your attention as the leader of Parliament … so that lawmakers can do something to quickly address the deteriorating situation in our nation.”

When questioned about the matter, Kadaga stated that she believed that parliament needed to heed the voice of the people.

“Who are we not to do what they have told us?” she said. “These people should not be begging us.”

“The most impressive part of this struggle here is that even non-Christians—like Muslims—are also at the forefront of advocating for the passing of the bill,” Restore Uganda director Okumu Yudah Tadeo told Christian News Network. “According to Uganda’s cultural and religious values that have helped to keep morals in the country, it is in Uganda’s best interest to keep up the good morals and Godly values in this generation and the generations to come.”

they flip out on Uganda, but not a word about Egypt...

Egypt court gives men 3-8 years for homosexuality

A judicial official says an Egyptian court has convicted four men of committing homosexual acts and sentenced them to up to eight years in prison.

The Nasr City misdemeanor court issued its ruling today. Police arrested the men for holding parties they say involved homosexual acts and where they found women’s clothes and makeup.

Three of the four received eight years while one received three years with hard labor.

In 2011, a high profile trial of 52 men accused of being gay caught international attention and drew criticism from rights groups. Twenty-three of them were sentenced to up to five years in prison while the rest were acquitted. Egyptian law does not explicitly refer to homosexuality, and prosecutors usually level charges that include terms such as “debauchery.”

I think Uganda is one of Rick Warren's "Purpose Driven" countries(if I'm not mistaken) - yeah, the Illuminati minions tend to focus on only select entities. For example, take the whole AZ ordeal with their "religious freedom" bill - the MSM focused solely on this state, but not a word when MS pushed it.

Rainbow flag hoisted at embassy

A pro-family activist is suggesting the United States may be making enemies rather than friends in its promotion of homosexuality worldwide.

Rainbow flat outside Madrid EmbassySaturday, May 17, was the 10th annual "International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia" – which President Obama commemorated by releasing an official statement equating the observance with historic struggles of the past, including the 1964 Civil Rights Act. His administration and State Department also raised the rainbow flag just beneath the American flag at least one embassy to celebrate "IDAHOT," according to a Breitbart.com report.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality describes it as homosexual "imperialism in action."

"What's happened is Obama has elevated the concerns of homosexual activists above the needs of the American people," he tells OneNewsNow. "I think even a lot of pro-homosexual Americans don't believe we should be shoving that in other country's faces, which is what we're doing now."

According to LaBarbera, that includes countries that have not forgotten what the Bible says.

"Other countries, especially those with more conservative moral values than the United States, they don't want to see homosexuality promoted," he argues, "and so this is going to alienate those people from the United States, all in the interests of pandering to the gay lobby."

Given the nature of the administration, LaBarbera says the only thing surprising to him is that "Obama didn't instruct his State Department to put the rainbow flag above the United States flag."

Several officials and agencies of the United Nations also released statements and videos and held special events in honor of the pro-LGBT observance.

Two days before the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia was the 20th anniversary of U.N.-proclaimed International Day of Families, held every year on May 15. The White House website lists no official statement about that observance.

US Embassy in Tel Aviv Makes History by Putting This Under the American Flag

"For the first time in history," said a Facebook post from U.S. Ambassador Dan Shapiro, "the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv has raised the Pride flag together with our American flag."

A photo attached to the social media announcement shows the LGBT flag flying directly beneath the American flag, a bold statement in a primarily Jewish and Muslim part of the world.

"We are proud to join with the municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo and its residents in celebrating LGBT Pride Week," said the post.

The show of gay pride from the embassy comes as the Israeli city expects upwards of 130,000 attendees of a gay pride rally scheduled for later this month, according to the Jerusalem Post.

OBAMA ORDERS KERRY TO APPOINT OPENLY GAY ENVOY TO SPREAD LGBT ‘GOSPEL’ WORLDWIDE
2/7/15

THE UNITED STATES WILL APPOINT AN OPENLY GAY OFFICIAL AS A SPECIAL ENVOY TO PROMOTE THE RIGHTS OF LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER PEOPLE OVERSEAS, THE US STATE DEPARTMENT SAID FRIDAY

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:28,29 (KJV)

Having conquered America for the LGBT Movement, Obama and company now set their sights globally. US President Barack Obama has instructed Secretary of State John Kerry to appoint an openly-gay ambassador to take the LGBT “gospel” around the world.

Obama’s goal of turning America into Babylon seems to be well within reach at this point.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said US Secretary of State John Kerry would “soon” make the appointment.  “It will be an openly gay foreign service officer. We don’t have a finalized name yet. But we will announce soon,” Harf said.

Harf said the appointment reflected Kerry’s “commitment and the administration’s commitment to advancing the human rights of LGBT persons globally.”

President Barack Obama’s administration has repeatedly pressed foreign governments on the human rights of gays and lesbians, systematically drawing attention to rights abuses or repression in several African countries. source

US government says it will now use the term 'sexual rights'

The U.S. government says it will begin using the term "sexual rights" in discussions of human rights and global development.

The statement at a U.N. meeting this week comes after years of lobbying from groups who have argued that the U.S. should show global leadership on the rights of people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

The statement, posted on a State Department website, says sexual rights include people's "right to have control over and decide freely and responsibly on matters related to their sexuality, including sexual and reproductive health, free of coercion, discrimination, and violence."

The Washington-based Center for Health and Gender Equity pointed out the statement Thursday and said it was delighted.

"On one level, it's symbolic. It also sends a signal to the global community that sexual and reproductive health and rights are a part of the global development agenda," Serra Sippel, the center's president, told The Associated Press. She said it follows "huge strides" made under the Obama administration on LGBT issues.

The announcement comes days before more than 150 world leaders gather at the U.N. to launch an ambitious set of development goals, including one of gender equality. One of the agenda's many targets is to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights by 2030.

The new U.S. use of "sexual rights" is at odds with more conservative states. The Holy See's mission to the U.N. did not comment Friday but pointed to a statement it made on the development goals Sept. 1 that reaffirmed its "well-known position concerning those family-planning methods which the Catholic Church considers morally acceptable."

Noting the term "sexual and reproductive rights" and similar terms, the statement reiterated the Holy See's stance against abortion and noted that its understanding of gender is "grounded in the biological sexual identity that is male or female."

Speaking at a meeting of the U.N. women's agency Tuesday, Richard Erdman, a deputy U.S. ambassador to the U.N., said the United States would use the term "sexual rights" for those that are not legally binding.

"Sexual rights are not human rights, and they are not enshrined in international human rights law; our use of this term does not reflect a view that they are part of customary international law," he said. "It is, however, a critical expression of our support for the rights and dignity of all individuals regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity."

Nevertheless, Sippel described the U.S. decision as "the United States catching up with the rest of the world."

Sign of the Times? US Urges UN to Push for Gay Rights

The United States appealed on Monday for the United Nations to unite to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, not just express outrage over a massacre in a Florida nightclub on Sunday in which 49 people were killed.

Being gay is a crime in at least 74 countries, the U.N. has said.

"If we are united in our outrage by the killing of so many – and we are – let us be equally united around the basic premise of upholding the universal dignity of all persons regardless of who they love, not just around condemning the terrorists who kill them," Deputy U.S. Ambassador David Pressman said

A shooter pledging allegiance to the radical group Islamic State carried out the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history on Sunday at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Rights organizations have accused Islamic State militants of killing dozens of gay men by throwing them from buildings or stoning them.

Pressman noted that there is just one General Assembly resolution referencing "sexual orientation" and "gender identity," a resolution that urges states to protect the right to life of all persons and investigate killings.

He said every year "there is a pitched fight over whether it is appropriate to include sexual orientation in that protection."

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has long advocated for gay rights but has faced opposition from African, Arab and Muslim states, as well as from Russia and China. On Sunday he condemned the Orlando attack.

In 2014, Ban announced the United Nations would recognize all same-sex marriages of its staff, allowing them to receive U.N. benefits. Russia unsuccessfully tried to overturn the move last year, with Saudi Arabia, China, Iran, India, Egypt, Pakistan, and Syria among 43 states that supported Moscow.

In February the 54-member African Group, the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation and 25-member "Group of Friends of the Family," led by Belarus, Egypt and Qatar, protested the launch of six U.N. stamps promoting LGBT equality.

Then a group of 51 Muslim states blocked 11 gay and transgender organizations from officially attending a high-level U.N. meeting last week on ending AIDS, sparking a protest by the United States, Canada and the European Union.

Orlando shooting: Rainbow flag in Jamaica sparks row

Jamaica's attorney general has sparked criticism after saying it was "disrespectful" to Jamaican law for the US embassy to fly a rainbow flag following the Orlando shooting.

In response, the US embassy in the capital Kingston asked Marlene Malahoo Forte to explain her legal reasoning.

Forty-nine people died when a gunman opened fire in a gay club in Florida.

Jamaica has laws criminalising gay sex and rights groups have warned LGBT face frequent discrimination.

The embassy in Kingston joined other US missions around the world in flying the rainbow flag in solidarity with the victims of the attack, the worst mass shooting in recent US history.

The flag symbolises the diversity of the LGBT movement.

'This is her country'

In a post that now appears to have been deleted, Ms Malahoo Forte said: "I strongly condemn #OrlandoNightClubShooting but find it disrespectful of Jamaica's laws to have #RainbowFlag flown here. #MyPersonalView."

The US embassy replied: "We're listening. Explain the legal reasoning? It was an attack of terror !!and!! hate, targeting the LGBT community".

She faced a backlash on social media where she was accused of ignorance and bigotry.

Others though defended her right to speak out. "This is her country, not America," said one comment on Facebook.

A letter to the Jamaica Observer warned the attorney general was painting the country in a bad light while saying no one was asking Ms Malahoo Forte "to condone homosexuality".

Separately, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness offered his condolences.

"The bullet of terrorism does not discriminate, it does not know gender, class or sexual orientation. We all grieve the 49 lives lost," he tweeted.

OBAMA'S FINAL-YEAR FOREIGN-POLICY PRIORITY: 'GAY' RIGHTS
President building legacy of forcing others to accept LGBT agenda

In a world beset by Islamic terrorism, persecution of Christians, a destabilized Middle East, a flood of refugees and a crumbling European Union, the Obama administration, nevertheless, has time to make LGBT rights a foreign-policy priority.

The White House office of the press secretary released a fact sheet this week detailing Obama’s efforts in “Promoting and Protecting the Human Rights of LGBT Persons.”

“Throughout the Obama administration, the promotion and protection of the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons has been a specific focus of our engagement around the world,” the press release began. “U.S. diplomacy, foreign assistance and other activities abroad have all sought to advance this goal, ensuring that efforts to promote and protect LGBT human rights are fully integrated into our broader attempts to advance freedom and dignity for all people.”

Paul Kengor, a college professor and author of “Takedown: From Communists to Progressives, How the Left Has Sabotaged Family and Marriage,” found it significant that the White House would release the fact sheet in the final months of Obama’s presidency, a time presidential historians view as a president’s “legacy” period.

“This is the time when Obama and his staff of legacy-shapers, nature redefiners and fundamental transformers are looking to hammer out his legacy for the ages,” Kengor told WND. “And the legacy they seem to most cherish is his legacy of fundamental transformation on the cultural-sexual-gender front.”

The professor also jokingly chided the administration for its choice of terminology.

“Shame on the Obama White House for not using the left’s new and more inclusive description: ‘LGBTQIA,'” Kengor said. “Does the Obama White House not like ‘queer’ and ‘intersex’ and ‘asexual’ persons?”

The press release also touted numerous changes to department and agency staffing and practices. For example, several U.S. departments and agencies, including State and Homeland Security, are “providing new training for staff and implementing partners to better understand the issues of gender identity and sexual orientation and agency roles in advancing the human rights of LGBT persons.”

It highlighted Secretary of State John Kerry’s 2015 appointment of the first-ever special envoy for the human rights of LGBT persons and USAID’s 2014 appointment of a senior LGBT coordinator. It bragged that seven openly “gay” U.S. ambassadors are serving at embassies around the world.

The press release also boasted of LGBT advocacy in the international arena, including efforts to advance LGBT interests through the U.N., World Health Organization and development banks. In practice, those organizations force nations or regions to adopt a pro-“gay” agenda in order to benefit from an international program.

The release bragged about the Obama administration’s support of LGBT activists and organizations around the world. For example, it said the State Department’s Global Equality Fund has allocated more than $30 million to LGBT organizations and activists in 80 countries around the world. The White House said the State Department in 2014 sponsored counter-hate crimes training for law enforcement officials in seven Latin American countries.

The release even noted the U.S. government has pushed back against what it considers anti-LGBT legislation in foreign countries, including Uganda and Gambia.

Michael Brown, a national radio host, WND columnist and author of “Outlasting the Gay Revolution,” reacted with outrage to the Obama administration’s imperial LGBT agenda.

“America is now bullying other nations into accepting our version of morality,” Brown said. “This makes me ashamed to be an American. How dare we tell other countries how to define the family! How dare we put pressure on other countries to embrace gay activism in their children’s schools. How dare we threaten sovereign nations with serious consequences if they don’t embrace same-sex relationships and transgender activism.

“It’s bad enough the Obama administration is bullying other Americans; it’s even worse when this administration tries to bully other nations.”

Kengor noted the press release included a few highlights of Hillary Clinton’s LGBT advocacy as secretary of state, such as a speech she gave in Geneva in 2011.

“Clearly, President Obama is hoping to pass the rainbow baton to a President Clinton so she can continue the battle for cultural transformation,” Kengor concluded. “FORWARD!”

David Kupelian, WND managing editor and author of “The Snapping of the American Mind,” acknowledged the mystery surrounding the actions of the 44th president.

“For eight years everyone’s tried to figure out Obama: Why did he pull our troops out of Iraq, creating ISIS, and why does he release top terrorists from Guantanamo during wartime?” Kupelian asked. “Why, with our economy in shambles and terrorism in the homeland an increasingly gruesome reality, does Obama ignore reality and obsess over phantom menaces like global warming and transgender discrimination?

“And now – with the world on fire, fueled largely by his disastrous presidency – why is he making global gay rights his final-year foreign policy priority?”

Some chalk it up to Obama’s extreme left-wing ideology while others say he’s sympathetic to radical Islam. Some psychiatrists, according to Kupelian, even suggest the president suffers from a mental illness such as Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

“But, while these and other explanations are by no means mutually exclusive, they miss the point,” Kupelian said. “Obama, whose values were shaped during his formative years by communists, Muslims, anti-American racists and criminals, has a spiritual problem: He is secretly attracted to everything wrong, and repelled by genuine goodness.”

Here’s how Kupelian explains the phenomenon in “The Snapping of the American Mind”:

Unfortunately, once we’ve had our innocence and integrity ripped off and have mysteriously oozed into a darker, more conflicted version of our former self, now when somebody comes along who simply radiates the wholesome qualities we left behind, we feel uncomfortable in his or her presence. In fact, we feel positively threatened, as though there’s something malevolent about that person. At the same time, we are attracted to, and feel comfortable around, people who (like us) have been seduced to the “dark side.”

Barack Obama is no exception. He has a serious case of this syndrome, sympathizing and identifying with subversive characters while being mysteriously repelled by genuine virtue. Seen at public events with leftists radicals, LGBT groups, or pro-abortion outfits like Planned Parenthood, Obama’s smile is broad and animated; he obviously feels comfortable and at home there. Yet he displays a palpable aversion to all that is emblematic of the success of Western Judeo-Christian civilization.

Kengor said he finds it funny that Obama prefers to wrap himself in the rainbow flag in his final year in office. By contrast, the professor noted, Bill Clinton tried to frame himself in 2000 as the president who balanced the budget and presided over economic growth, and Ronald Reagan in 1988 sought to frame himself as the man who defeated communism and grew the economy. It tells the professor a lot about Obama’s priorities.

“Historians should look back at the defining symbol of the Obama years as that White House illuminated in rainbow colors the day of the Obergefell decision redefining marriage in America,” Kengor said. “That is the picture that best represents Barack Obama and his legacy, and it’s the picture that Obama and his legacy-shapers want.”
