The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. 5/21/2015 — RARE 4.0 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE STRIKES SOUTH ENGLAND ALONG THE ENGLISH CHANNEL
MAY 21, 2015

A very rare 4.0 magnitude earthquake has struck South England.

Last weeks earthquake forecast called for 4.0M earthquake activity to strike South England.

Over the past week, a 3.3 magnitude struck the English channel, and a 3.4 magnitude struck Belgium.  Now a 4.0 magnitude has struck  Southern UK along the shores of the English channel.

5.4-magnitude earthquake shakes Las Vegas, other parts of Nevada

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake shook Las Vegas and surrounding areas Friday morning. The quake, which hit at 11:47 a.m., was centered about 24 miles south-southwest of Caliente, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The earthquake might have caused minor freeway damage in Las Vegas. The ramp from southbound U.S. Route 95 to southbound Interstate 15 was closed due to damage about 12:20 p.m., the Nevada Department of Transportation said in a tweet.

The damage had not been officially linked to the earthquake, but the Nevada Highway Patrol said transportation officials were inspecting the ramp. It was not clear how long it would remain closed. Meanwhile, officers were checking for possible damage at other major freeway interchanges, NHP Trooper Loy Hixson said.

The Nevada Department of Transportation won’t be undertaking a widespread inspection of the state’s bridges as a result of the earthquake because most bridges are designed and engineered to withstand small quakes. But a ramp at the Spaghetti Bowl is being checked.

“We are currently inspecting for any potential damage following the recent earthquake in Caliente, including the U.S. (Highway) 95 southbound ramp to I-15 southbound that is currently closed due to possible structural damage,” said Tony Illia, a spokesman for the department.

“All of our bridge structures are designed to withstand rigorous wind and earthquake loading,” Illia said. “Nevada lies within an active seismic zone, which is something that we take into account during the project design and engineering phase.”

Illia said Nevada has some of the best-rated bridges in the country, according to a recent report by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association. Only 1.8 percent of Nevada bridges are classified as structurally deficient, which is the lowest in the country. The national average is 6 percent.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office had no immediate reports of any damage in or around Caliente.

A couple of items fell off the shelves of a grocery store, but it didn’t cause any serious damage to the old building, Great Basin Foods manager Alyson Hammond said.

Though the temblor was felt across Southern Nevada and as far away as Irvine, Calif., “we barely felt a thing here,” said Deputy Dathan Lewis at the sheriff’s office in Pioche, about 20 miles north of Caliente.

At Priest Elementary School, near Craig Road and Simmons Street in North Las Vegas, former Review-Journal reporter Francis McCabe said the shaking seemed to go on for about 15-30 seconds and prompted a few people to venture outside the building.

The USGS reported two more quakes, a 3.8 at 12:05 p.m. and a 3.0 at 12:19 p.m.

People across the Las Vegas area reported feeling the first earthquake, including in Henderson, North Las Vegas and Boulder City. People in three other states — Utah, Arizona and California — also reported on the USGS website that they felt it.

5.1M earthquake strikes North California near Mount Shasta Volcano — DIRECTLY at Trinity Lake Dam

A noteworthy 5.1 magnitude earthquake has struck Northern California near Mount Shasta volcano, directly at Trinity Lake Dam.

he Northern California earthquake directly followed an even larger 6.8M which struck just minutes before off the coast of Alaska.

The Alaska earthquake was just a few hours after a large unexpected volcanic blast from a volcano in South Japan.  The Japan blast, the Alaska earthquake, and this California earthquake all occurred within less than 12 hours time.

california 5.1m earthquake may 29 2015

_______

A review of the surrounding area shows the earthquake in California is very close to Mount Shasta, and also the Lassen Volcanic center (seen with multiple dark lava flows to the East).

This activity is a sign of the greater unrest happening in the Pacific due to the “global seismic unrest event” currently taking place across the planet.

lassen volcanic complex may 29 2015

_______

You might be asking .. “what global seismic unrest event” am I talking about?

The one you’re not hearing about from the main stream media, which is totally obvious to even the casual observer (if you’re paying attention).

7.0 magnitude quake strikes offshore Alaska: USGS

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck off the southwest coast of Alaska late on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The USGS said the quake's epicenter was 104 km (64 miles) south-southeast of Ugashik and 61.7 km deep. The agency upgraded the temblor to a 7.0 after initially stating it was slightly weaker.

5/31/15
5/31/2015 — SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 4.1M EARTHQUAKE AT SALTON SEA VOLCANO — UNREST SHOWING

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake has struck Southern California at Salton Sea Volcanic buttes.

Reports are coming in from viewers that this event was felt fairly strong in San Diego, CA.

Seeing a noteworthy earthquake strike near an active volcano in Southern California is a sign of the greater global seismic unrest currently underway.

It would be wise at this point (in light of the other recent Pacific earthquake activity) for the people of the West coast to at least be placed on a “watch” for possible larger movement.

Even if nothing actually ends up hitting, it is better to do what the Japanese are doing right now, which is warn the population of the possibility of a larger coming earthquake.

Certainly now we can all be on the same page that there IS a temporary increase in activity taking place in multiple locations globally, thus warnings should be issued for a general watch for normally earthquake prone areas, and give instructions to have a plan.

Keep in mind that this 4.1M earthquake struck at a location where “professionals” are concerned about a potential eruption — Salton Sea Volcano could erupt if earthquake / seismic conditions are right (their words not mine).  The volcano was elevated to “active” status in 2011 based upon some kind of internal USGS technicality.

6/5/15
6/05/2015 — SIBERIA RUSSIA / CHINA BORDER HIT BY EARTHQUAKE AFTER MONTHS OF SILENCE — FORECAST AREA HIT

A noteworthy (and rather rare) magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Siberia Russia near the China Border.

The USGS is not reporting this earthquake.   Just like the USGS is not reporting  the rare 4.2M earthquake which just struck in North France today (also forecast to occur this past week).

This area at the Siberia / China border was warned for movement  after the deep asthenosphere earthquake activity 3 days ago in Japan.

In my update 3 days ago, it was specifically said to watch the area West of Japan (towards the Russia / China border).  Now the area at the Russia / China border is hit by a 5.0M after months of silence.

I wonder why the USGS is omitting almost every earthquake named in the earthquake forecast 7 days ago on May 29th?

hmm….. very odd….. what are the chances ?!  SMH + a real life facepalm at this (intentional?) data omission.

Earthquake kills 2 climbers, strands 137 on Malaysia mountain

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia –  A magnitude-5.9 earthquake struck near Malaysia's highest mountain on Friday, killing two climbers, injuring 11 others, and stranding more than a hundred people on the peak, Malaysian officials said.

The quake was centered northwest of Ranau district in Sabah state on Borneo at a depth of 34 miles, Malaysia's meteorological department said.

Local media said rescuers recovered two bodies from 4,095-meter Mount Kinabalu believed to be of a local guide and a 12-year-old female Singaporean student.

Sabah police chief Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman confirmed two fatalities but couldn't give further details.

Sabah Parks director Jamili Nais said several injured climbers had been brought down the mountain. Most of the 137 stranded people were cautiously trying to descend with the help of park rangers and guides, and some were expected to reach the base camp by early Saturday, he said.

Some were foreigners, but it wasn't clear how many.

The climbing route was apparently blocked or made dangerous by rocks and boulders loosened by the quake and small aftershocks, Jamili said.

Helicopters were unable to land because of bad weather and the high altitude, he said.
The quake damaged roads and buildings, including schools and a hospital on Sabah's west coast.

State Tourism Minister Masidi Manjun tweeted that it also broke one of the twin rock formations on the mountain known as the "Donkey's Ears."

6/08/2015 — LEAD GEOLOGIST AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY IGNORANT ON NORTHWEST US SEISMIC ACTIVITY?!

As many of you may know, over the past week(s) I found out that the lead professor of Geology at Washington State University, Professor John Vidale was publicly disparaging me via multiple social media comments made on the official PNSN public group page.

[Professor Vidale is also the Lead Geologist at the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN)]

usgs may 30 2015
______

As it turns out,  some of the posts he made are very personal ad hominem jabs at me directly, not just at the science behind my posts (or lack thereof in his opinion), but personal accusations upon my character, and motivations.

He accused me of several things, but since I’d like to keep this back and forth above the cheap shot line, I’d like to address his claims that I am not accurate in my earthquake reporting.

For the professor to make the (false) claim that I am somehow misreporting events to generate popularity for myself among my viewers, then we must examine his own reporting accuracy to see if he is even capable of making this call on other people he barely knows.

In just the first few pages of his posts, I noticed a glaring factual “inaccuracy” that really should catch everyone reading this by surprise (maybe even surprise the professor himself), and really calls all his online blatherings about “accuracy” into question.

Professor John Vidale said (May 7, 2015 @ 2:07pm):
“Not that I’m complaining, but there hasn’t been an earthquake bigger than M4.5 in Oregon or Washington since I came here in 2006, and I count 15 events over M4.5 in the previous 15 years. What are the odds?“

_______

Now , let’s compare Professor John Vidales “statement” verses the actual facts.

A picture is worth a thousand words!

Here is his statement mashed up with USGS screenshots, and my own reporting from 2011, 2012, and 2013 showing the events that John Vidale somehow “missed”.

john vidale knows what june 8 2015
What was that again?

Professor Vidale says : No earthquake bigger than magnitude M4.5 has struck Oregon or Washington State since 2006?

How could the lead professor of Geology at the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network not know about the multiple M5.0 – M6.0 earthquakes which struck Oregon in 2011, 2012, and 2013?!

The picture above shows screenshots from the USGS links below.

________

It would appear that Professor John Vidale might need to reassess his own high opinion of himself, and remove the beam from his own eye, before he attempts to remove the PERCEIVED speck in someone elses.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I would like to point out to the professor that I wouldn’t be pouring over his statements, and picking apart his “science” if he hadn’t come out on full attack, and hadn’t smeared me hard … PUBLICLY for the past 3+ years.

In the most ironic twist of fate, these are the same few years where the earthquakes struck that HE MISSED.

Maybe the game of denial has gone to his head a bit, or maybe he was out of town each time, and didn’t bother to stay up to date.  Whatever the reason for this huge mistake, we expect our professionals to make few mistakes , not many.

To have this many mistakes in once single statement, he says NONE, but I just found 3-4 by doing a quick search — means he missed 4 of the largest earthquakes in the past 4 years while he was lead man in charge!

NO WONDER their earthquake forecast warning system failed… the lead man in charge doesn’t even know about the large earthquakes in the region.

Swarm of earthquakes rattles rural Alabama; reason unclear

Jim Sterling didn't know what had hit his 156-year-old antebellum home when an earthquake struck Alabama's old plantation region early one morning last November. Startled, he grabbed a gun and ran outdoors.

In the pre-dawn chill, Sterling said, he found an odd scene: horses were galloping, cows mooing and dogs barking.

"I heard a boom and felt the shaking," Sterling said. "It really upset me."

More than a dozen weak earthquakes have followed in the seven months since in west Alabama's rural Greene County, and geologists are trying to figure out what is causing the seismic swarm in an area of the South more prone to tornadoes than earthquakes.

"It is interesting that recently there has been more activity there than in the last four decades," said Sandy Ebersole, an earthquake expert with the Geological Survey of Alabama.

Records from the U.S. Geological Survey show the first of 14 earthquakes occurred on Nov. 20, when a magnitude 3.8 earthquake was recorded about 10 miles northwest of the community of Eutaw. The second occurred in mid-December, followed by another in January and three within a few hours of each other on Feb. 19.

The tremors have continued ever since, with the most recent occurring June 6, when a magnitude 3.0 quake rattled the area. All the tremors have been weaker than the initial jolt in November, and Ebersole said some have been too slight for residents to detect.

Located about 35 miles from Tuscaloosa, the whole of Greene County has only about 8,700 residents, and the area where the quakes are occurring is sparsely populated. Farmlands and forests are dotted by hunting preserves and old homes left over from Alabama's past as a cotton-producing, slave-holding state.

Experts have installed a seismic monitor in a field to enable them to get better information about the quakes, none of which has caused major damage. Ebersole said researchers are trying to rule out potential causes such as blasting for quarries and sonic booms. They've even held meetings with rattled area residents.

The quakes could be linked to underground cracks, or faults, found in the area in recent years at varying depths, Ebersole said. But just what has been causing the ground to shake is unclear.

One potential source that regulators are discounting is hydraulic fracturing or "fracking," a process for extracting underground oil or natural gas that has been blamed for earthquake swarms elsewhere, including Oklahoma. Wastewater is sometimes injected underground, a method the government has blamed for quakes.

While Greene County is on the edge of Alabama's primary region for oil and gas production, state geologist Nick Tew said no such production or disposal work is going on in the area where the quakes are occurring.

The mysterious shaking has left residents like Mark McClelland to protect themselves in the only way they can.

"After the second or third one I went to get some earthquake insurance," said McClelland. "It's not bad, about $150 a year."

The hearty construction methods and thick timbers used in his 163-old Greek Revival mansion provide some comfort to Barden Smedberg, who operates the house as a wedding venue and a bed and breakfast. One of the earliest quakes shook loose curtain rods from window frames at his Everhope Plantation, he said. But no other damage has occurred.

"This house has been here since 1852. I don't think it's going anywhere," said Smedberg.

Even without much damage or a major shake to date, Sterling said he would still like to know what is causing the quakes.

"A lot of people are wondering what's going on," he said.

6/18/2015 — VERY RARE NEBRASKA EARTHQUAKE — M3.4 HITS AT THE SOUTH DAKOTA BORDER = MAN MADE?

A very rare magnitude 3.4 earthquake struck North central Nebraska near the border of South Dakota.

In the 5 years I’ve been covering these events online, this marks only the third time I’ve seen an earthquake in Nebraska.

Upon inspecting the area via Google Earth satellite imagery , as of the date of the photos, there is nothing at the epicenter of any noteworthy mention.

The date of the images for the area  is from 2013… thus new activities could be taking place at this location…. activities like FRACKING for instance.

There was recent debate as to whether or not Nebraska would begin doing fracking / wastewater disposal.   The “officials” became paid pets of the industry, and went against local residents wishes, and began doing wastewater disposal injection / fracking as well.

The officials said there would be NO dangers to having fracking operations in Nebraska.

As I warned when this all happened in Nebraska.. we would see earthquakes begin to develop in the state if they begin wastewater disposal.

Now we see an earthquake strike after years of silence.   Does this mean they are fracking near Valentine, Nebraska?!  Maybe so.

The debate for injection of wastewater was in a different part of the state, I wonder if this area is doing something similar, and we just haven’t heard about it yet.

6/19/2015 — LARGE MID-PACIFIC M6.1 EARTHQUAKE — RARE EVENT GOES UNREPORTED BY THE USGS

A rare central Pacific magnitude 6.1 earthquake has struck.

The USGS is not reporting the event (yet) .. even though it has been several hours since the earthquake occurred.

Information from the European service EMSC:

M 6.1 – NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN – 2015-06-19 14:51:17 UTC
http://www.emsc-csem.org/Earthquake/earthquake.php?id=447401

Magnitude   M 6.1
Region   NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN
Date time   2015-06-19 14:51:17.1 UTC
Location   24.70 N ; 171.54 E
Depth   10 km
Distances   1949 km N of Majuro, Marshall Islands / pop: 25,400 / local time: 02:51:17.1 2015-06-20
2591 km N of Tarawa, Kiribati / pop: 40,311 / local time: 02:51:17.1 2015-06-20
2890 km NE of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands / pop: 48,220 / local time: 00:51:17.1 2015-06-20
________

Clearly the USGS is not reporting this event.

Here is a screenshot of the feed, and the program I personally use.. both the USGS website feed of worldwide M2.5+ earthquakes, and the regular feeds everyone uses for apps/programs.

No information yet on this rare M6.1 event.  Wonder why?

The last time we saw an earthquake at this location of any noteworthy magnitude was in December 2012, when President Obama visited Hawaii, and at the time the EVENT WAS NOT REPORTED BY THE USGS!

That earthquake was a strange event indeed….now we see this earthquake go on the omitted / delayed list by the USGS.

Very odd indeed.

Here is my post from the M6.4 which struck on December 27, 2012 , which is still up on facebook:

6/19/2015 — CHILE / SOUTH AMERICA STRUCK BY M6.4 EARTHQUAKE — REGIONAL UNREST NOW SHOWING

fter a M7.0 struck the mid-Atlantic ridge a few days ago, a new round of earthquake unrest has begun to brew around the Pacific plate (yet once again).

Now a noteworthy magnitude 6.4 earthquake has struck along the shores of South Chile.

Notice both earthquakes fall almost along the exact same latitude… (35-36 degrees South Latitude).
