It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

3 small earthquakes rattle central Arizona and Phoenix area
11/2/15
http://news.yahoo.com/central-arizona-hit-3-small-earthquakes-085259974.html

PHOENIX (AP) — Three small earthquakes rattled parts of central Arizona, jolting people in cities 160 miles apart, including parts of the Phoenix area. There were no immediate reports of injury or major damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude 4.1 temblor struck at 11:29 p.m. Sunday, followed by a 4.0 quake about 20 minutes later. A smaller, magnitude-3.2 quake, hit at 9 p.m.

The USGS said all the quakes ranged from 3-6 miles in depth and were centered near Black Canyon City, about 45 miles north of Phoenix.

Black Canyon City resident Tami Barto said she woke up when one of the quakes shook her home and stirred up her dogs.

"It did worry me. It was quite a shake," said Barto. She said she found no damage at her home or the service station where she is the manager.

Black Canyon City is located in a rural part of southeastern Yavapai County just north of the Maricopa County line.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office got numerous calls but had no reports of damage or injury, spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office had no reports of damage, spokesman Chris Hegstrom said.

The USGS website recorded scores of responses from people in such suburban Phoenix cities as Cave Creek, Peoria, Scottsdale and Glendale who reported feeling at least one of the quakes.

Geologist Michael Conway, chief of the Geologic Extension Service of the Arizona Geological Survey, said the quakes were felt pretty widely — as far south as Casa Grande and as far north as Flagstaff.

He said it's not a surprise that Phoenix residents would feel earthquakes centered in central Arizona. The region has numerous active and inactive faults, some as far south as Carefree in the northern fringe of the Phoenix area, Conway said.

However, there aren't any known faults directly under Phoenix itself, Conway said from Tucson. "Certainly no young ones."

Recent significant quakes in Arizona include a 4.7 that shook the Sedona area in north-central Arizona in November 2014. A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook southwestern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona in June 2014.

Still, the fact that the shaking Sunday night was felt in parts of the Phoenix metro area will provide a teachable moment when geologists and public-safety officials conduct earthquake preparedness training in schools, Conway said.

That training urges people to drop down, find overhead cover such as a table and hold on.

"We'll probably point to this when we go back to the Phoenix area and say there's a reason for this training to take place," he said.

Arizona Public Service Co. had an outage affecting 9,700 customers in Peoria start shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, but it was due to equipment failure at a substation, the utility's spokesman, Alan Bunnell, said. "We had no reason to believe it had anything to do with the earthquakes."

Violent Shaking Along The Ring Of Fire Continues A Progression Of Disasters That Began In September

Have you noticed that seismic activity along the Ring of Fire appears to be dramatically increasing?  According to Volcano Discovery, 39 volcanoes around the world have recently erupted, and 32 of them are associated with the Ring of Fire.  This includes Mt. Popocatepetl which sits only about 50 miles away from Mexico City’s 18 million inhabitants.  If you are not familiar with the Ring of Fire, it is an area roughly shaped like a horseshoe that runs along the outer perimeter of the Pacific Ocean.  Approximately 90 percent of all earthquakes and approximately 75 percent of all volcanic eruptions occur along the Ring of Fire.  Just within the last 24 hours, we have witnessed a 4.4, a 5.4 and a 5.7 earthquake in Alaska, a 6.8 earthquake in Chile and 20 earthquakes in Indonesia of at least magnitude 4.3.  And as you will see below, this violent shaking along the Ring of Fire seems to continue a progression of major disasters that began back during the month of September.

For whatever reason, our planet suddenly seems to be waking up.  Unfortunately, the west coast of the United States is one of the areas where this is being felt the most.  The little city of San Ramon, California is about 45 miles east of San Francisco, and over the past several weeks it has experienced a record-breaking 583 earthquakes…

A total of 583 small earthquakes have shaken San Ramon, California, in the last three weeks or so – more than five times the record set 12 years ago, according to the latest US Geological Survey updates.

“It’s the swarm with the largest number of total earthquakes in San Ramon,” said USGS scientist David Schwartz, who is more concerned about the size of quakes than he is the total number of them. Still, the number tops the previous record set in 2003, when 120 earthquakes hit over 31 days, with the largest clocking in at a magnitude of 4.2.

Could this be a prelude to a major seismic event in California?

We shall see what happens.

Meanwhile, records are being shattered in the middle part of the country as well.

For instance, the state of Oklahoma has already set a brand new yearly record for earthquakes…

The state recorded its 587th earthquake of 3.0 magnitude or higher early this week, breaking the previous record of 585. That record was set for all of 2014, meaning that Oklahoma has now had more 3.0 magnitude or higher earthquakes so far in 2015 than it did in all of 2014. So far this year, E&E News reports, Oklahoma’s averaged 2.5 quakes each day, a rate that, if it continues, means the state could see more than 912 earthquakes by the end of this year.

Oklahoma has also experienced 21 4.0 magnitude or greater earthquakes so far this year — an increase over last year, which saw 14.

And just over this past weekend there was a very disturbing series of earthquakes in the state…

Starting with a magnitude-4.1 temblor at 5:11 a.m. close to the Oklahoma-Kansas border, the region experienced a series of six earthquakes within a 75-minute period Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on its website.

The largest earthquake Saturday morning was the 4.1, which had an epicenter nine miles northwest of Medford, Okla., 59 miles southwest of Wichita.

That was followed by five more quakes near Medford with magnitudes of 2.5, 2.8, 2.5, 3.1 and 2.9 – the last of which came at 6:24 a.m.

A seventh earthquake – this one a magnitude-4.2 temblor – was recorded at 12:29 p.m., 10 miles north-northwest of Medford.

So why aren’t more Americans alarmed that these records are being broken?

We are seeing things that we have never seen before, and I believe that it will soon get even worse.

And this dramatic increase in seismic activity that we are now seeing appears to fit into a larger pattern of major disasters that we have been witnessing over the past couple of months.

As we approached the end of the summer, all of a sudden massive wildfires erupted all across the western third of the country.  According to the National Interagency Fire Center, the only time in U.S. history when wildfires had burned more acres by the end of October was during the record-setting year of 2006.

In 2015, a lot of these wildfires have really been threatening highly populated areas.  I know, because at one point a major fire came within about 10 miles of my own house.  Since the beginning of August, Barack Obama has made an astounding 25 disaster declarations related to fires, and by the end of September the horrible fires that were threatening key areas of the state of California were making headlines all over the world.

Then as we got to the very end of the month of September, a new kind of disaster began to take center stage.  As I wrote about just recently, the storm that would later became known as Hurricane Joaquin developed into a tropical depression on September 28th.

Even though that hurricane never made landfall in the United States, moisture from that storm caused a tremendous amount of chaos along the east coast.

The governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, said that it was the most rain that some areas of her state had witnessed “in a thousand years”, and it is being projected that the economic damage that was done by all of the flooding “will probably be in the billions of dollars”.

Shortly after the flooding in South Carolina, a massive storm dumped an enormous amount of rain on southern California.  Because that area had been experiencing severe drought for so long, all of that rain caused tremendous flooding and massive mudslides.  Rivers of mud literally several feet thick completely stopped traffic along many major roads across the region.  If you got caught in those rivers of mud, you were lucky to get out with your life.  In fact, authorities pulled one dead man out of a vehicle that got completely buried by mud several days after the storms had passed.  It took them that long to finally get to him.

The middle of the country was not spared either.  Hurricane Patricia ended up being one of the strongest hurricanes ever measured, and the remnants of that storm dumped an incredible amount of rain on the state of Texas.  There was so much flooding that a train was literally knocked off the tracks by the water.  And about a week after that there was more flooding in the state that caused at least six deaths.

Overall, it has really been a bad couple of months for major disasters, and this sequence of events seems to have begun during the month of September.

Thank you for posting this - this is a kind of news item you just don't hear in the MSM. Neither CNN, FOX, Yahoo, or whatever.

It's as if the devil's NWO media is doing all they can to blind the eyes and hearts of the lost world.

Experts say it’s only a matter of time before the “big one” shakes Oklahoma

Oklahoma is no longer known as the state where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.  Now, the Sooner State also leads the world in seismic activity.

This year, more than 5, 000 earthquakes have been recorded and studied in our state. Residents have become accustomed to the little shaking, rattling and rolling.

However, experts say earthquakes in Oklahoma will likely increase in magnitude over time.

Now, research said it's only a matter of time before we get a big one that will change life for those of us living here.

Over the years, damage has been caught on camera.

"Well, Oklahoma State pulled out a squeaker there," the Cowboys fan said on video in 2011 when the room began to quake. "We're having an earthquake. Do you hear that?"

In 2011, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook the state, becoming the largest quake in recent Oklahoma history.

Now, research shows a bigger, stronger one could hit soon.

"Isn't this lovely?" Jackie Dill, a Coyle resident says shaking a column on her front porch.

For 10 years, Dill has called this 1930's Coyle house her home.

"Up here on the roof, I want you to see, this really worries me," Dill says pointing out a spot on her roof. "Hit so hard we can see the rafters creaking right? We walked out and do you see the bump in the roof where the rafter is peaking up?"

Now, her house buckles each time the seismometers catch any ground quaking action.

"When I moved in in 2005, none of this was here. None of these cracks, not one," Dill said.

Fast forward 10 years later, you wonder how it's still standing.

"I now invest on lots of mortar for the rocks, I buy it by the bagfuls," Dill says.

But a little mortar to help the visible cracks won't help the underlying problems.

"We really just planned to live out the rest of our life here and be comfortable, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen, we thought we had it all, we really did," Dill said.

Now Jackie, like many Oklahomans, is waiting for the one that's sure to crumble her home.

"There's a lot of us out here, what are we going to have to do to get their attention?" Dill says.

"It's unclear exactly how high we might go, and the predictions are upper 5-6 range for most things that I've seen," Todd Halihan, a researcher from OSU, says.

Halihan studies these quakes; his expertise is hydrogeophysics.

"Underneath any of these urban areas, whether it's Stillwater, Cushing, Oklahoma City, Guthrie, these cities are not built to seismic standards. They're not in L.A." Halihan said.

What would happen to the Devon tower, Chesapeake Arena, our bridges and our roads if a big one hit in the center of Oklahoma City?

"We have a lot of buildings that were built with earthquakes not even on the radar screen, so we would expect probably a fair bit of damage," Halihan said.

"There's just so much. It's, you know, I've done all my crying and now I'm just angry, I'm so angry," Dill says. "Anything that has to do with the state we might as well forget."

"We're not out ahead of it yet, we still have fires burning, and we're trying to get ahead of those fires, but we're not there yet," Matt Skinner, spokesperson for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, said.

"The changing point I think was the Prague quake, because as a result of that, we had a hearing as to how we should proceed in the Prague area for oil and gas exploration," Skinner says.

Many people believe the commission is sitting back and watching the quakes happen, but they say that's not the case.

Our cameras were given a rare look at the work.

"March of this year, we issued a directive that applied to over 300 disposal wells that dispose into the Arbuckle formation that said prove that you are not in the basement, in other words, you haven't drilled too deep," Skinner says. "So the idea was to dial back the total volume for the area that's going down to a pre-seismicity level."

We wondered why it's taken until this year to see action, OCC says they were waiting on data from oil and gas companies.

Information that by law, does not have to be shared, but now they're handing it over.

"An arrangement was eventually come to where there's a regular exchange now between the oil and gas industry,"Skinner says.

What they called a game-changer in slowing down the quakes.

"All of the sudden, for the first time, we're seeing stressed faults, where seeing where the basement faulting is" Skinner says.

But is the oil and gas industry being completely forthcoming?

"It's a great question, it's a logical question and people don't ask it enough," Skinner said. "It is being used if you will, against them and yet the data hasn't slowed, if anything it's increased. The big problem we face right now is not that we don't have enough data to analyze, the big problem we have right now is we don't have enough people to analyze it."

4.3-magnitude earthquake rattles central Oklahoma
http://news.yahoo.com/strong-earthquake-rattles-central-oklahoma-142109871.html
12/29/15

EDMOND, Okla. (AP) — A strong, 4.3-magnitude earthquake awoke many people in the Oklahoma City area early Tuesday, the latest in a series of temblors that's prompted state regulators to call for more restrictions on oil and gas operators in the state.

The quake struck at 5:39 a.m. near the city of Edmond, which is a suburb north of Oklahoma City, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey. There are no immediate reports of major damage, but the quake is blamed for power outages affecting thousands of people.

A smaller earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 hit the same area about 10 minutes later, the USGS said. Edmond city officials said about 4,400 homes and businesses lost power because of the quake but electricity was restored quickly.

Oklahoma has become one of the most earthquake-prone areas in the world, with the number of quakes magnitude 3.0 skyrocketing from a few dozen in 2012 to more than 720 so far this year. Many of the earthquakes are occurring in swarms in areas where injection wells pump salty wastewater — a byproduct of oil and gas production — deep into the earth.

In response, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission has begun reducing the volume or shutting down some disposal wells in hopes of curtailing the quakes.

The strongest earthquake on record in Oklahoma is a magnitude 5.6 centered in Prague in November 2011 that damaged 200 buildings and shook a college football stadium.

Earthquakes rattle northern, southern California within 15 minutes of each other
By Doug G. Ware   |     Dec. 29, 2015 at 10:04 PM

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Two medium-size earthquakes rattled northern and southern California on Tuesday within 15 minutes of each other, officials said -- putting emergency personnel on alert in a region famously susceptible to tectonic activity.

The first earthquake, measured at a magnitude of 4.9, occurred off the northern California coast at 5:35 p.m. local time. The epicenter was recorded about 60 miles northwest of Eureka, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Tuesday's was the second earthquake in the area in as many days. A 4.8-magnitude quake struck in virtually the same location Monday evening, officials said.

The second quake struck at about 5:45 p.m. about 50 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, data from the U.S. Geological Survey indicate.

The epicenter of the quake, measured by the USGS at a magnitude of 4.4, was recorded near Devore in the San Bernardino area. A series of strong aftershocks followed, officials said, and people felt shaking as far away as Burbank to the north and San Diego to the south, KTLA-TV reported.

The earthquake had a depth of about 3 1/2 miles, the USGS said.

Two aftershocks were measured at magnitudes of 3.8 and 3.2 and occurred within a few hundred feet of the initial earthquake.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said on Twitter it was in "earthquake mode."

"All 106 fire stations will survey their district to ensure safety for all," the department said on its website.

No injuries or damage were initially reported.

Tectonic activity is common along the state of California due to numerous fault lines, including the famed San Andreas. More than 3,000 people died in the 7.9-magnitude 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Other deadly quakes have struck in recent decades, including the 6.9-magnitude 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and 6.7-magnitude 1994 Northridge quake.

Strong quake kills at least 8 in India's remote northeast
http://news.yahoo.com/6-7-magnitude-quake-hits-indias-northeast-leaves-054806057.html
1/4/16

GAUHATI, India (AP) — A strong earthquake damaged buildings, killed at least eight people and injured more than 100 in India's remote northeast region early Monday.

The death and injuries were caused by falling debris. Manipur state's home minister, G. Gaikhangam, said several areas suffered extensive damage, especially the capital, Imphal. He did not give details but told reporters the situation was still being assessed.

Three people were killed in Imphal and five in other parts of the state, said police officer A.K. Jalajit.

Media reports said five people were killed in neighboring Bangladesh, but there was no official confirmation.

The 6.7-magnitude tremor left large cracks in walls, damaged a bridge on the outskirts of the capital and caused a newly constructed six-story building to collapse. The region is dotted with small houses with few tall buildings.

India's Meteorological Department said the epicenter was in the Tamenglong region of Manipur. It struck 35 kilometers (20 miles) northwest of Imphal, 17 kilometers (10 miles) below the surface and not far from the border with Myanmar.

Police officer L. Ragui said by telephone that dozens of homes were slightly damaged in Tamenglong.

Shangthon Kamei, a teacher in Tamenglong, said the earthquake rattled buildings.

"It lasted for around one minute. We were sleeping and were woken up by the earthquake," he said.

The area is remote, with poor cellphone and Internet connections, and information about conditions outside of major cities may take time to emerge.

Nearly 90 members of the National Disaster Response Force have left to check on remote areas, police said.

Imphal residents said furniture was knocked over and books fell off shelves.

"The ground swayed for almost a minute, jolting people awake in their homes," said one resident, Apem Arthur.

BREAKING: Back-to-back earthquakes rattle Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas

Two strong earthquakes rocked Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas on Wednesday night.

The quakes were recorded as magnitudes 4.3 and 4.8, respectively, the United States Geological Survey reported.

The larger temblor was centered 19 miles south-southeast of Alva, Oklahoma, west of Enid, at 10:28 p.m. CST, the USGS said. The first quake occurred 32 seconds before the larger quake near Fairview, Oklahoma.

Both were felt in Wichita, Kansas, where meteorologists from AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions were working.

"The tables shook pretty good as well as our computer screens. Really felt like the whole building was rumbling. We are on the seventh floor so it always seems like it's worse up here," Lead Meteorologist John Lavin said.

The quakes were one of six earthquakes to be reported within 90 minutes Wednesday night in Oklahoma, according to USGS data.

US West Coast Earthquake Warning As Cascadia Subduction Zone Surges

An ocean data buoy is alerting to an “event” in the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the west coast of Oregon. This is where a magnitude 9 earthquake hit in 1700.

According to the data buoy, the water column height (depth) fell sharply within minutes off the coast of Oregon, signaling the land beneath the ocean has suddenly “sunk.”

As of 0231:30, the initial water column height is 2738.80 Meters deep (8985.56 feet). Two minutes and thirty seconds later, that same water column height had dropped to 2738.66 Meters deep (8985.10 feet). Where did the four inches of water disappear to? Answer: The earth sunk; and continued to sink for the next several HOURS. As you can see from the second chart above, from 0230 GMT to 0600 GMT, the ocean continued to sink to 2737.7 meters deep (8981.95 feet). The buoy is too far away from shore to be affected by high/low tide, so where did the four feet of ocean water disappear to?

This means a Tectonic Plate in the Ocean named the “Juan de Fuca Plate” has made a sudden, eastward movement and slipped beneath another Tectonic Plate named the “North American Plate.” This type of event is usually followed by a massive upward movement of the North American Plate causing a very severe earthquake.

interstate5The entire column of water . . . all 8985 feet of it . . . is what dropped four feet. And it did so over an area several miles wide. When the tectonic plate snaps back upward, it can launch that entire 8985 foot column of water upward and toward the shore. As the continental shelf rises toward the shore (the ocean gets more shallow) that 8985 foot column of water starts accumulating upon itself as it moves toward shore, becoming one massive wave, perhaps 45-50 feet tall, that hits the shore for twenty minutes. If such a thing were to happen today, hundreds-of-thousands of people would be killed as a fifteen meter (45 foot) wall of water came ashore well inland passing Interstate 5 and destroying everything its path from the beach to Interstate 5.

Magnitude-6.8 earthquake hits Alaska, jolting nerves

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A magnitude-6.8 earthquake knocked items off shelves and walls in south-central Alaska and jolted the nerves of residents in this earthquake-prone region. But there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The earthquake struck about 1:30 a.m. Alaska time and was centered 53 miles west of Anchor Point in the Kenai Peninsula, which is about 160 miles southwest of Anchorage, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. About two hours later, a magnitude-4.3 aftershock hit the Cook Inlet, the agency said. A slightly stronger aftershock — magnitude-4.7 —hit the Cook Inlet at 5.29 a.m.

The possibility of a gas leak led to the evacuation of more than a dozen homes in Kenai.

The earthquake was widely felt by residents of Anchorage. But the Anchorage and Valdez police departments said they have not received any reports of injury or significant damage.

Vincent Nusunginya, 34, of Kenai said he was at his girlfriend's house when the earthquake hit.

"It started out as a shaking and it seemed very much like a normal earthquake. But then it started to feel like a normal swaying, like a very smooth side-to-side swaying," said Nusunginya, director of audience at the Peninsula Clarion newspaper. "It was unsettling. Some things got knocked over, but there was no damage."

There were reports of scattered power outages from the Matanuska Electric Association and Chugach Electric in the Anchorage area. The Homer Electric Association reported on its website that about 4,800 customers were without power early Sunday in the Kenai Peninsula.

The Alaska Department of Transportation reported on its Facebook page that there was road damage near the community of Kasilof, on the Kenai Peninsula.

Andrew Sayers, 26, of Kasilof was watching television when the quake struck.

"The house started to shake violently. The TV we were watching fell over, stuff fell off the walls," he said. "Dishes were crashing, and we sprinted toward the doorway."

Later, he was driving to his mother's home when he came across a stretch of K-Beach road that was damaged in the quake.

"We launched over this crack in the road. It's a miracle we didn't bust our tires on it," he said.

Sayers took video of the road damage.

Kenai Police Chief Gus Sandahl said 22 homes were evacuated in the community over the possibility of a gas leak. Sandahl said early Sunday morning that the fire department and gas company were investigating at the scene.

Fire departments in Kenai, Anchorage and other communities were getting calls about the quake.

A dispatcher for the Homer police department, who declined to identify herself, said no one called to report broken gas lines there or any significant damage, but many called to report feeling the strong quake.

The hashtag #akquake was trending early Sunday on Twitter, where people were sharing their experiences of the quake and posting photos of items that had fallen off walls and shelves.

After reaching his mother's house, Sayers checked on his grandparents, who live about a mile away.

"No damage, except their Christmas tree fell over," he said.

A tsunami is not expected as a result of the earthquake, the National Weather Service said.

2016 so far: small earthquakes drive 23 percent increase in tremors
3/21/16

OKLAHOMA CITY — The total number of earthquakes across Oklahoma has increased 23 percent from this time last year, though most of the quakes are very small according to USGS data.

Oklahoma started the year slowly for the total number of quakes, though now has seen a large jump in the number of quakes registering 1.9 magnitude or smaller, year-to-date.

So far in 2016, the state has seen 142 of the very small quakes. At this time in 2015, the state registered 16.

Overall, 2016 has had a total of 825 quakes compared to 2015's 671.

But 2016 has seen more large, damaging types of quakes, including a 5.1 magnitude quake, the state's third largest on record.

In 2016, there have been nine quakes 4.0 or higher, compared to just four in 2015.

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has issued a number of directives covering thousands of square miles to oil and gas producers to pull wells back. Scientists and seismologists point to oil and gas activity for the large increase in earthquakes in the last few years.

While quakes have been a part of state history, they increased dramatically starting in 2011, breaking records in 2015 for total quakes.

Last year, we had 5,650 quakes.

5 Major Earthquakes In 48 Hours As A Seismologist Warns ‘Catastrophic Mega Earthquakes’ Are Coming

Why is the crust of the Earth shaking so violently all of a sudden?  Over the past 48 hours, there have been five major earthquakes globally, and one prominent seismologist has declared that “catastrophic mega earthquakes” could be on the way.  In fact, seismologist Roger Bilham of the University of Colorado has made headlines all over the world by warning that “current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude”.  If his projections are accurate, our planet could be on the precipice of a wave of natural disasters unlike anything that any of us have ever experienced before.

Since the beginning of 2016, south Asia has been hit by an unusually high number of large earthquakes, and this has scientists groping for an explanation.  The following comes from the Express…

Scientists say there has been an above average number of significant earthquakes across south Asia and the Pacific since the start of the year.

The increased frequency has sparked fears of a repeat of the Nepal quake of 2015, when 8,000 people died, or even worse.

Roger Bilham, seismologist of University of Colorado, said: “The current conditions might trigger at least four earthquakes greater than 8.0 in magnitude.

“And if they delay, the strain accumulated during the centuries provokes more catastrophic mega earthquakes.”

A single magnitude 8.0 earthquake in a populated area would be a disaster of historic proportions.

If we were to see four of them like Roger Bilham is projecting, that would be a complete and utter nightmare.

It is important to keep in mind that a magnitude 8.0 earthquake would be many, many times larger than the twin earthquakes that hit Japan earlier today…

A devastating 6.4-magnitude earthquake has struck Japan hours after a first which killed at least three and injured 19 others.

The quakes, which struck the south-western island of Kyushu, leveled more than a dozen homes, sparked fires and trapped several people under collapsed buildings.

Around 350 military personnel have been dispatched to aid the rescue effort, said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga.

The first earthquake, measuring 6.5-magnitude, hit the south-east Asian country late on Friday, local time, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

On Thursday we also saw a magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit Vanuatu, and a magnitude 5.9 earthquake shook the southern Philippines…

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Mindanao early Thursday, April 14, seismologists said, with no damage or casualties immediately reported and no tsunami warning issued. The quake occurred at 2:21 am (1821 GMT Wednesday) off the coast of Zamboanga del Norte, with its epicenter at a depth of 15 kilometers, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

And of course on Wednesday a huge magnitude 6.9 earthquake caused tremendous devastation in Myanmar…

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Myanmar on Wednesday, causing tremors around the region, including in neighboring Bangladesh where scores were reported injured in stampedes and buildings were damaged. The quake, which took place at a depth of 134 kilometers (83 miles), hit some 400 kilometers northwest of Myanmar’s capital Naypyidaw, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), and was also felt in parts of India and China. There were no immediate reports of casualties, although the region where the earthquake hit has poor communications infrastructure like many of Myanmar’s outlying provinces.

So why is this happening?

Why is Asia shaking so violently all of a sudden?

And does this shaking bode ill for other areas along the “Ring of Fire” including the west coast of the United States?

I think that it is important to point out that all of this shaking did not just begin this week.  In fact, ever since the start of this calendar year there has been a lot of unusual earthquake activity all over Asia…

Just four days ago, on April 10, six people died in Pakistan when a 6.6-magnitude quake hit Kabul with aftershocks in India

Two days before, on April 8, there was a magnitude 4.2 earthquake in Nepal.

Nepal had suffered a larger 5.5 magnitude one on February 22.

A month before, on January 20, there was a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in China, and 16 days earlier 11 people died when a 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit Manipur in India.

In addition, let us not forget about all of the volcanic eruptions that have been in the news in recent weeks.

According to Volcano Discovery, 38 volcanoes around the globe are erupting right now.  This is definitely an unusually high number.

In Matthew 24, Jesus warned us that there would be earthquakes in “divers places” just prior to His return.  This is something that I discuss quite a bit in my new book.  If we truly are in the times that the Bible refers to as “the last days”, we should expect the shaking of our planet to continue to intensify.

If seismologist Roger Bilham is right and we do begin to see a series of absolutely massive earthquakes, that could dramatically change the course of world events literally overnight.

Even a single magnitude 8.0 earthquake in a major city in Japan, China or the United States would cause global markets to crash and would mean billions of dollars in economic damage.

So let us hope that the crust of our planet begins to stabilize, but let us also not ignore the warnings of the scientists.

What they are warning us about right now lines up perfectly with what Jesus warned us about nearly 2000 years ago, and that is a very sobering thing to consider.

EARTHQUAKE KILLS 238 IN ECUADOR; EMERGENCY WORKERS RUSH IN

Rescuers pulled survivors from rubble Sunday after the strongest earthquake to hit Ecuador in decades flattened buildings and buckled highways along its Pacific coast. Officials said the quake had killed at least 238 people and injured more than 1,500.

The magnitude-7.8 quake, the strongest to hit Ecuador since 1979, was centered on Ecuador's sparsely populated fishing ports and tourist beaches, 105 miles (170 kilometers) northwest of Quito, the capital.

Vice President Jorge Glas reported the death toll at a somber news conference, while President Rafael Correa flew back from Rome to deal with the crisis. He said 1,557 people were injured.

Glas said there were deaths in the cities of Manta, Portoviejo and Guayaquil - all several hundred kilometers (miles) from the center of the quake, which struck shortly after nightfall Saturday.

In Pedernales, a town of 40,000 near the quake's epicenter, dozens of frightened residents slept in the streets while men equipped with little more than car headlights tried to rescue survivors who could be heard trapped under the rubble.

"We're trying to do the most we can, but there's almost nothing we can do," said Pedernales Mayor Gabriel Alcivar.

Alcivar pleaded for authorities to send earth-moving machines and rescue workers to help find people in the rubble. He said looting had broken out amid the chaos but authorities were too busy trying to save lives to re-establish order.

"This wasn't just a house that collapsed. It was an entire town," he said.

Correa declared a national emergency and urged Ecuadoreans to stay strong.

"Everything can be rebuilt, but what can't be rebuilt are human lives, and that's the most painful," he said in a telephone call to state TV before departing Rome for Manta.

Glas said the country had already deployed 10,000 armed forces. In addition, 4,600 national police were sent to towns near the epicenter.

Would-be rescuers scrambled through the ruins in the provincial capital Portoviejo, digging with their hands to find survivors. As officials set up shelters and field hospitals, residents said they felt like their entire town had been flattened.

More than 3,000 packages of food and nearly 8,000 sleeping kits were being delivered. Electricity in Manabi province, the hardest-hit, remained mostly down as authorities focused on finding survivors.

"Compatriots: Unity, strength and prayer," Glas told a throng of residents gathered in the streets of Manta as he instructed them on how to look for survivors. "We need to be quiet so we can hear. We can't use heavy machinery because it can be very tragic for those who are injured."

On social media, Ecuadorians celebrated a video of a baby girl being pulled from beneath a collapsed home in Manta.

Shanty towns and cheaply-constructed brick and concrete homes were reduced to rubble along the quake's path, while in Guayaquil a shopping center's roof fell down and a collapsed highway overpass crushed a car. In Manta, the airport closed after the control tower collapsed, injuring an air traffic control worker and a security guard.

Alberto Reynas, 58, was fishing off the coast of Pedernales when giant waves violently rocked his boat.

"It felt the same on sea as it did on land," he said.

But he was shaken again when he returned to land to find the facade of his two-story home had fallen into the street. He was unable to communicate with members of his family and spent the night sleeping outdoors with neighbors, keeping a close watch against thieves.

"It's pure sadness. Everything is destroyed," he said.

Luis Quito said he spent the entire night delivering water to guests trapped under the rubble of the four-story hotel owned by his father-in-law, the Hotel Chimborazo. He said his father-in-law was missing and feared dead.

"We hear screaming all through the night," said Quito as he decried the slow response by emergency workers. "There are humans trapped below the terrace. Babies. We need rescuers. But nobody has arrived so far."

In the capital, Quito, terrified people fled into the streets as the quake shook buildings. One resident shot a video of his lamps and hanging houseplants swinging wildly for more than half a minute as the building rocked back and forth. The quake knocked out electricity in several neighborhoods and a few homes collapsed, but after a few hours power was being restored.

Among those killed was the driver of a car crushed by an overpass that buckled in Guayaquil, the country's most populous city. Two Canadians were also among the dead. The city's international airport was briefly closed. Hydroelectric dams and oil pipelines in the OPEC-member nation were shut down as a precautionary measure but so there were no reports of damage to them.

Towns near the epicenter were evacuated as a precautionary measure in case of hazardous tsunami waves, but several hours later authorities said it was safe for coastal residents to return to their homes.

Ecuador's ally, Venezuela, pledged humanitarian aid while neighboring Colombia, where the quake was also felt, said it stands ready to help in any way possible. The European Union, Spain, Peru and Mexico have also pledged aid, Glas said. The government is drawing on $600 million in emergency funding from multilateral banks to rebuild, Correa said.

The U.S. Geological Survey originally put the quake at a magnitude of 7.4 then raised it to 7.8. It had a depth of 19 kilometers (12 miles). More than 135 aftershocks followed, one as strong as magnitude-5.6, and authorities urged residents to brace for even stronger ones in the coming hours and days.

David Rothery, a professor of geosciences at The Open University northeast of London said the quake was about six times as strong as the most powerful of two deadly earthquakes across the Pacific, in the southernmost of Japan's four main islands.

A magnitude-6.5 earthquake struck Thursday near Kumamoto, followed by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake just 28 hours later. Those quakes killed 41 people and injured about 1,500, flattening houses and triggering major landslides.

On Sunday, thousands of rescue workers searched a debris-strewn village in southern Japan for about a half-dozen missing people as U.S. military aircraft rushed to join the relief mission.
