Joel Osteen Hecklers Slapped With Criminal Charges After Verbal Assaults

Six men who heckled Joel Osteen have been arrested and slapped with criminal charges.

The hecklers were arrested, according to World Religion News, and charged with criminal trespassing for their verbal assaults on the megachurch pastor.

Earlier this week, a video was posted online showing one man yelling, "Joel Osteen, you're a liar!" Charisma News previously reported. After he was escorted out, five others began to yell and harass Osteen while he preached.

The six men are members of the Church of Wells.

One of those arrested, church elder Jacob Gardner released the following statement to a Texas news station:

"The seven of us involved in the effort to warn Lakewood Church of the coming judgment, are all of one mind in regards to the message that each of us were proclaiming this past Sunday. Most of the small substance of what has been reported of the phrases that were spoken by us are accurate, but they are by no means the complete burden that flooded our hearts that morning, and that has flooded our eyes with tears for many months now as we have preached to those multitudes flowing in and out of Lakewood, like droves tottering on the brink of destruction."

VIDEO: Hecklers escorted out of Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in SW Houston

Six people were escorted out of Lakewood Church in southwest Houston Sunday morning for heckling senior pastor Joel Osteen.

A video on Twitter shows the people being escorted out of the former sports arena amid cheers. Osteen is seen at the pulpit saying, "Thank you all for your patience and we'll just continue to receive what God has for us. It's a good day to be alive."

Twitter user Anwar Richardson posted on social media, "Crazy scene. Sixth person ejected from Lakewood Church by police and security."

Jacob Gardner is charged with criminal trespass


"The praise and worship was good. His wife had just delivered a quick message. And the moment he started to preach, somebody gets up and they yell "Joel Osteen you're a liar,'" said Richardson.

Richardson shot the video of a security taking one of the hecklers out. You can hear the congregation clapping as Osteen attempts to move along with his sermon, ut the disruptions continued.

"After the sixth time that it occurred, my son was sleeping in my lap, and I looked at my wife and she was nervous and we just decided we have to get out of here," said Richardson.

And they weren't alone.

"He (Osteen) kept on going. He kept his composure. He really got the message out and he said no weapon formed against me shall prosper," said another witness. "So kudos to him for delivering a good service."

Richardson, who is visiting with his family from Austin, says thoughts of the Charleston massacre ran through his mind.

"All I could think of is you don't know what's going on, and I just can't wait to find out, so I've gotta get out of there," he said.

Lakewood Church spokesman Donald Iloff Jr. tells Eyewitness News the hecklers were all with The Church of Wells. They were asked to leave, but refused and that's when they were escorted out.

According to HPD, all six were charged with criminal trespass.

The Heretical Blasphemy Of Joel Osteen: The Power Of I Am (VIDEO)

Osteen’s “preaching” is heresy combined with blasphemy, written in the study of Satan himself.

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” 2 Peter 2:1 (KJV)

In the Bible, the term I AM is the Name that God tells Moses in Exodus 3:14 he can refer to Him as when he goes back to Egypt to have a showdown with Pharaoh. God tells his this as the bush burns but is not consumed. It is a somber, awesome and fearsome time. So holy is it that God demands that Moses even remove his shoes, for even the ground where this is happening is holiness unto the Lord. But according to Joel Osteen, you can use God’s sacred Name as a buzzword to get cool stuff.  This is the poisonous heresy of the Word Faith Movement combined with the blasphemy of using God’s Name in vain.

Joel Osteen excitedly begins to urge his followers to repeat after him – “Alright just repeat after me. I am strong. I am healthy. I am confident. I am confident. I am secure. I am talented. I am creative. I am disciplined. I am focused. I am valuable. I am beautiful. I am blessed. I am excited about my future. I am victorious. Alright how about amen?”

This is what passes for preaching in 2015, Laodicean slop where YOU are the focus and God is nothing more than an errand boy who is expected to provide “stuff” on demand. “When you talk like this”, Osteen declares, “these things will follow you and God will provide them.” Outrageous! How is it possible that Lakewood Church in Houston has not yet been hit with lightning? Nothing he “preaches” about has any relation to the Bible in any way, shape or form. There is nothing in the Bible that backs up any of the claims Osteen makes the way he makes them. Everything he says has been lifted out of context, twisted, and repacked until any original meaning has long since disappeared.
Pastor Joel Osteen’s Full Sermon “The Power of ‘I Am'”

    WARNING: I only include this video of Osteen’s “The Power Of I Am” sermon so you know that what I tell you about his “preaching” is truthful and accurate. I do not recommend that you attempt to listen to it all the way through.



The greatest Christian in the Bible, the apostle Paul, asked God 3 times for the “thorn in his flesh” to be removed. God say “no, my grace is sufficient for you.” Paul suffered the rest of his life with that “thorn” and then said that his suffering brought him closer to the Lord. This is Bible doctrine, folks, this is what the Bible actually teaches. Read it and see how it matches up with Osteen’s spewings:

“For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-11 (KJV)

According to Joel Osteen’s reasoning, the apostle Paul was a faithless failure who only “dwelt on the negative” and didn’t receive God’s blessing because he didn’t “speak it and claim it”. Paul says “You want God’s power? Then glory in your weakness! Take PLEASURE in persecutions, in sickness, in distress.” That’s where God’s true power, riches and blessings are. Bible doctrine is the stark, polar opposite of Osteen’s theology.

Osteen’s sermon, “The Power Of I Am” at it’s best is Laodicean slop designed to appeal to self-centered, narcissistic “christians” looking to get more “stuff” from God. But at it’s worst, it’s heresy combined with blasphemy, written in the study of Satan himself. The Devil is the “I Will” guy, but the flip-side of that coin is stealing God’s Name and becoming the “I Am” guy. I cannot imagine how anyone can sit and listen to this trash on a Sunday morning and call it a “worship” service. It is nothing of the kind unless you are referring to self-worship, which actually seems to be the goal of Osteen’s urgings.

Enjoy all the money and the fame while you can, Joel, what’s coming next for you won’t be any fun at all.

Other pastors, however, believe fire and brimstone preaching may be what the church needs again.

“To the shame of much of today’s church, there has been a firm and steadfast rejection of any truth that doesn’t result in people feeling happy affection for God,”writes Pastor John Burton. “While a core message of mine has to do with enjoyable and permeating intimacy with Jesus, I understand that it is not a mutually exclusive one. That teaching when it stands alone, apart from the full counsel of God’s Word, produces a people who don’t understand the fear of the Lord, the severity of their lifestyle decisions or the intensity and nearness of eternity.”

Despite criticism, Osteen forges ahead.

“Our general message speaks to staying in peace and being respectful and staying full of joy and staying positive,” he tells northjersey.com. “I don’t get specific about the politics, but our core message deals with [how] every day, you have to choose to be happy; you have to overlook things that are done wrong and things that are said.” source

Joel Osteen Says He’s Not ‘Cheating People’ by Neglecting to Preach on Repentance, Hell

Megachurch self-help author and motivational speaker Joel Osteen says that he doesn’t believe that he’s “cheating people” by neglecting to preach on repentance or eternal punishment as he opines that people “feel guilty enough.”

Osteen was featured on CBS Sunday Morning on March 27, as correspondent Tracy Smith visited Lakewood to interview the megachurch leader.

“You’ve been criticized for church-lite, or a cotton candy message. Do you feel like you’re cheating people by not telling them about the Hell part? Or repentance part?” she asked.

“No, I really don’t, because it’s a different approach,” Osteen replied.

“You know, it’s not hellfire and brimstone. But I say most people are beaten down enough by life. They already feel guilty enough. They’re not doing what they should do raising their kids—we can all find reasons,” he said. “So I want them to come to Lakewood or our meetings and be lifted up, to say, ‘You know what? I may not be perfect, but I’m moving forward. I’m doing better.’ And I think that motivates you to do better.”

He later explained that because his late father rose from poverty to becoming the pastor of a growing congregation, he focuses on advising others that they too can overcome their difficult life circumstances.

“You know, my dad was very, very poor,” Osteen said. “No milk, no food, no heating in the winter. And you know what? He stepped up. And he had a big dream for his life. And look what he’s done for us. And so that’s my whole thing is, you don’t have to stay there. You gotta believe that you can rise higher.”

Osteen, who reportedly lives in a $10.5 million dollar home, explained to CBS that most of his wealth comes from his book sales and his work with Sirius Satellite Radio. He does not take a salary from Lakewood, which he estimates makes $90 million a year.

“I do think that there is a certain thought, especially in the church world, that you’re supposed to be poor and broke and defeated to show that you’re humble, and I don’t buy into that,” he said.

However, much concern has been raised over the past decade that the messages at Lakewood are noticeably man-centered and humanistic, instead of Christ-centered and gospel centric. Osteen’s self-help books have included “Your Best Life Now,” “Become a Better You,” “You Can, You Will” and “It’s Your Time.”

Osteen’s latest book, “The Power of I Am,” teaches readers to manifest blessings in their life by making positive confessions about themselves, so that they might “lead a more productive and happier life.”

In 2014, Osteen’s wife Victoria raised concerns when she preached, “Just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy. When you come to church, when you worship Him, you’re not doing it for God really. You’re doing it for yourself…”

“His core message is God is nice, you’re nice, be nice. It’s sort of a, if it were a form of music, I think it would be easy listening,” Michael Horton, professor of theology at Westminster Seminary in Escondido, told reporters. “He uses the Bible like a fortune cookie. ‘This is what’s gonna happen for you. There’s gonna be a windfall in your life tomorrow.’ The Bible’s not meant to be read that way.”

Osteen recently made headlines after his longtime senior worship leader, Israel Houghton, publicly announced last month that he had obtained a divorce due to damage caused when he “sinned in his marriage” five years ago. Some became concerned that Houghton was allowed to lead worship during this time, and outlets quickly pointed out that Houghton was seen with a new girlfriend earlier this month. Lakewood has stated that Houghton is on “indefinite leave” but is still employed as a staff member.

Sadly, it's not just Osteen (and Rick Warren for that matter too) - now even KJV IFB churches are pushing this watered down gospel message as well - pretty much no guilty of sin, conviction of sin, turning from sin, repentance, etc, and experiences of a changed life after salvation isn't necessary (and the wolves are really attacking people like Bryan Denlinger now).

I really hate to say it, but I believe 90% of people in hell are those that THOUGHT they were saved and were diligently doing good service for the LORD.

God “Absolutely” Approves of Homosexuals says Joel Osteen

One of America’s most well-known evangelical pastors, Joel Osteen, recently declared that God “absolutely” approves of everyone, including homosexuals.

The Houston megapastor and best-selling author has been touring to all the talk shows lately to promote his new book Break Out! 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life.

Osteen, who has been the pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston since 1999, recently talked to the Huffington Post about several subjects, including his thoughts on homosexuality.

HuffPo Live host Josh Zepps quoted from Osteen’s new book: “It doesn’t matter who likes you or who doesn’t like you, all that matters is God likes you. He accepts you, he approves of you.”

Zepps went on to ask Osteen if that included homosexuals.

“Absolutely,” Osteen insisted.

“I believe that God has breathed his life into every single person. We’re all on a journey. Nobody’s perfect,” stated the pastor who oversees a congregation of 45,000 followers, including the likes of Cher and Oprah Winfrey. “The Bible said a sin is pride, a sin is selfish ambition. We tend to pick out these certain things,” he add.

Sadly, even the Independent Fundamental Baptist crowd, as well as more (professing) King James Bible ministries have gone this route as well - ignoring hellfire and brimstone, and also God's holiness.

Honestly, we can't blame Osteen, Bell, Warren, and these other Emergent Church heretics completely - the last commandment Paul gave to the church of Corinth was to "EXAMINE yourselves, to see if you're in the faith...", which churches have really gotten away from - instead, it's gone the route of "Just remember the prayer you prayed" or "Just remember that one point where you decided to believe".

Celebrity televangelist Joel Osteen is under Twitter fire for not opening his church to victims of Tropical Storm Harvey.

Osteen is the head of Lakewood Church in Houston, which is housed in The Summit–the former NBA stadium of the Rockets, which holds 16,800 people.

The storm, which started out as a Category 4 hurricane but was reduced to a tropical storm once it hit land, has showered Texas with more than 30 inches of rain, has left 300,000 people without power and displaced 30,000 in temporary shelters across the state. FEMA is expecting as many as 450,000 potential disaster victims.

On Osteen’s Twitter, he is encouraging his followers to visit the church website to help with relief. The link he provides offers a donation button and a volunteer button, the latter of which shows a partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, a disaster relief organization. “We know the need is great. That much is clear. We do not yet know all the ways we can help,” the church’s website says. Well, for one, many on Twitter say, is to open up the church for those who are in need of shelter.

Joel Osteen: Televangelist Whose Church Closed During Hurricane Harvey Tells Victims not to Have 'Poor Me' Attitude

A televangelist whose church closed its doors during Hurricane Harvey claims that he is the victim of “misinformation” and told flood victims not to have a “poor me” attitude.

In his Sunday sermon, multimillionaire pastor Joel Osteen addressed the criticism that has been directed at him after his 16,000 seat Houston megachurch initially closed its doors during the storm, in which thousands of people were left homeless and 40 were killed.

Pictures and video posted on social media showed the church apparently undamaged by the storm, and Osteen initially claimed he had not opened its doors because he had not been asked to by the state. The church re-opened Tuesday, as floodwaters began to recede.

Osteen defended the decision not to open the church during the devastating storm, and told those affected not to have a “poor old me attitude.”

“You know I really believe in these times of difficulty it's, for me, certainly not the time to question your faith but to turn to your faith because God is the one that gives you the strength to make it through the difficult times," he said in a video of Sunday's sermon posted on YouTube.

“We are not going to understand everything that happens but, you know, having a 'poor old me' mentality or 'look what I lost' or 'why did this happen', that's just going to pull you down. Like we've been talking about all night, you just got to turn it over and say 'God you're still on the throne'.”

Osteen preaches the prosperity gospel, a branch of Christianity that holds that following Christian teachings can increase personal wealth. His Lakewood church is one of the largest in the U.S.

On Sunday, Osteen blamed “misinformation” for criticism levelled at the church for remaining closed. He said he hadn’t opened its doors due to safety concerns, and floodwaters came within a couple of feet of breaching flood walls installed after floods in 2001.

He added: “Had we opened the building sooner and someone got injured, or perhaps the building flooded and someone lost their lives, that would have been a very different story. Now I don’t mind taking the heat for being precautious. But I don’t want to take the heat for being foolish.”

He continued: "This is not just an attack on me, it's an attack on what we stand for—for faith, for hope, for love," he said. "Jesus even said, 'When the world hates you, remember: it hated me first.'"

Joel Osteen’s Church Has a $90 Million Annual Budget  Shocked

Mega-pastor Joel Osteen may not know theology very well, but he sure knows how to rake in the bucks. To put it another way, Osteen is an expert at getting your down-on-their-luck relatives to hand over their money to his "ministry." The proof is in the pudding, so they say, because the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Lakewood Church's annual budget is around 90 million dollars a year.

Lakewood Church's fiscal budget was revealed during the newspaper's series titled "The Preacher's Son." The series "explores the origins and spectacular growth of Houston's Lakewood Church under pastor Joel Osteen." However, the Chronicle and writer Katherine Blunt decided to run a separate piece breaking down the church's budget.

According to the article, here's a rough breakdown of how Lakewood Church uses that 90 million dollar budget:

    Weekly services and programs: $31.7 million

    Night of Hope events: $6.7 million

    TV ministry: $25.1 million

    General and administrative: $11.5 million

    Fundraising: $11.9 million

    Mission and outreach: $1.2 million

There are two related things that I find sad, albeit not surprising, about how Osteen and company spend their many millions. Most of that big pile of money is spent on furthering Osteen's brand while a tiny fraction of it is spent on evangelizing the lost. And by a tiny fraction, I mean just a bit over 1 percent.

Joel and his wife Victoria were in attendance at the Lady Gaga Pride concert featuring drag queens, amazingly foul language and the endless glorification of the LGBTQ+P for **** agenda. It seems that the Osteens had no problems at all attending such an event, which is not surprising considering how they have been creeping ever closer to supporting same-sex marriage.

Lady Gaga calls her followers ‘little monsters‘ and that is exactly what Joel and Victoria Osteen have become. If you can read this article and still happily attend Lakewood Church or listen to his ‘preaching’ online, it is likely you have never been born again.

FROM CHRISTIAN NEWS: “Are you ready to [expletive] party tonight? Are we making history?” Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, asked the crowd as she opened the show, according to the New York Daily News.

The popular music streaming companies had announced last month that they would be presenting the “special performance” to “celebrate SiriusXM and Pandora coming together as one company.” They also noted that the concert “coincides with World Pride Month, which this year is being celebrated in New York City.”

The Daily News reports that Germanotta “performed a selection of her most beloved hits dancing around, in a most homoerotic latex fantasy, dropping F-bombs and getting tips from the future by speaking to an ‘Avatar’-like Gaga figure.”

She also spoke of her advocacy for those who identify as homosexuals and transgenders, telling the crowd, “So, it’s Pride Week. I wish it could exist 365 days of the year, but I’ll take an [expletive] global week.”

Germanotta urged those in the theater and around the world to “[a]sk the question: ‘What is your pronoun?’ Because for a lot of people, it’s really hard, and their pronouns aren’t respected or they’re not asked.”

As previously reported, Germanotta, whose music videos and concerts are often performed in little clothing and are sexually suggestive, sings about homosexuality in her song “Born This Way.”

“A different lover is not a sin, believe capital H-I-M,” the tune claims. “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive. … I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes.”

A number of drag queens attended the invitation-only event, including Alaska Thunder[expletive] (Justin Honard), Ginger Minj (Joshua Eads), Sharon Needles (Aaron Coady), Aquaria (Giovanni Palandrani) and Shangela Wadley (Darius Pierce) of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
Other attendees included American Idol’s Adam Lambert, Saturday Night Live’s Heidi Gardner, actor Michael Douglas, and Neil Patrick Harris and his “husband” David Burtka.

And in the midst of those photographed were Joel and Victoria Osteen, who posed like the others adjacent to the Pandora/SiriusXM/Lady Gaga backdrop. The Osteens have their own channel on SiriusXM, which according to its description, features “daily messages of hope and inspiration, live call-in shows and with Joel and Victoria, and special live services.” Being connected to the network is likely the reason why they were invited to the event.

Christian News contacted Joel Osteen Ministries to inquire about the appearance, but was told by a representative that she didn’t know anything about the matter as she had just learned of it and that any statement would have to come from Joel himself.

Some outlets expressed bewilderment as to why the Osteens attended since it was assumed that he opposes homosexuality, which Gaga advocates.

As previously reported, Osteen drew criticism in 2013 when he told the Huffington Post that God accepts homosexuals without also mentioning the requirement of repentance.

    “You say in your book … ‘It doesn’t matter who likes you or doesn’t like you; all that matters is that God likes you. He accepts you; He approves of you,” host Josh Zepps stated. “Is that true for gay men or true for homosexuals?”

    “Absolutely,” Osteen replied. “I believe that God’s breathed His life into every person. We’re all on a journey. Nobody’s perfect.”

“The Bible says that sin is pride, sin is selfish ambition,” he continued. “We tend to pick on certain things, but I believe every person is made in the image of God, and you’ve got to accept them as they are as they’re on their journey.”

Osteen then explained his belief that Christians should exemplify kindness to the world, rather than “pushing people down.”

“Again, the Scripture teaches the way people are going to know His disciples is for our love for one another, and so, I’m not preaching hate [or] pushing people down,” he stated. “I’m not here to tell everybody what they’re doing wrong.” READ MORE
Joel Osteen, who is known for his effervescent personality and sunny disposition in nearly all matters, says he is not cheating people by not preaching about hell.

The number one reason why anyone should ever want to be saved can be summed up in one word – Hell. Because of Hell, Jesus went to the cross and made a payment to set you free if you would only take it. Because of Hell, God commands believers to take the message of salvation to a lost and dying world. What sends you to Hell? Unpaid sin in your life. But Joel Osteen refuses to tell people about Hell because he wants them to be “uplifted” and “feel positive”.
