‘If We Get Another Chance, We Will Definitely Kill Her’: Taliban Cheers Nobel Loss For The Girl They Tried To Kill

The 2013 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded Friday to the Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
 
And the Taliban in Pakistan cheered.
 
However, they were not cheering for OPCW, but celebrating that the prize did not go to Malala Yousafzai, one of the popular favorites.
 
Malala Yousafzai is a name you should recognize. She’s the 16-year-old Pakistani girl who made news after being shot in the face by a member of the Taliban.

Why was a teenaged girl targeted for death by the Taliban?
 
Because she believes women have a right to an education. The Taliban, of course, begs to differ. Just over a year ago, she was shot while riding a school bus near her village in Pakistan.
 
Malala survived and was flown to England where her recovery made international headlines. Following three months of treatment, she was released in January from the hospital.
 
The Pakistani teen’s recuperation seemed to embolden her and she soon became the face of the battle for women’s rights in many Muslim countries. CNN readers also honored Malala by voting her the runner-up to President Obama as the “Most Intriguing Person of 2012.”
 
Yousafzai’s recovery from the gun shot, combined with her calm demeanor and unbending devotion to her mission, made the Pakistani a favorite among those who predict the Nobel Peace Prize nominations.
 
As expected, Malala was nominated. Many even thought she was shoe-in to win the Nobel. But they were wrong.
 
Following the announcement of OPCW’s win, the Pakistani Taliban issued a statement through their spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, celebrating Malala’s loss.
 
The statement read [via NBC News]: “It’s very good news.”

“If we get another chance, we will definitely kill her and that will make us feel proud,” the statement added.
 
However, despite the ongoing death threats, Malala continues her mission.
 
She appeared earlier this week on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” The 16-year old was promoting her book, “I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up For Education And Was Shot By The Taliban.”
 
Stewart asked Malala what she would do if she was faced with another attack by an armed member of the Taliban. Her answer brought cheers from the audience and stunned silence from Stewart. What did she say?
 

I would tell him how important education is and that I would even want education for your children as well. That’s what I want to tell you, now do what you want.
 
The Taliban is also focusing its vitriol on Malala’s book. Pakistani shopkeepers have reportedly been threatened with death if they carry the young activist’s book in their stores.

Pakistan Taliban claim responsibility for shooting of 14-year-old girl
A 14-year-old Pakistani girl who campaigned to promote education and expose extremist brutality has been shot in the head by gunmen from the Pakistani Taliban in a retaliatory attack.

 Malala Yousafzai was on her way home from school in the former militant stronghold of Swat when two men opened fire, shooting her in the forehead and injuring two other girls.

Witnesses said a bearded man had asked for the girl by name before opening fire.

Her work earned her international recognition and numerous peace awards after she was revealed as the brave seventh grader who wrote an anonymous blog for the BBC's Urdu service when the Taliban controlled Swat in 2009.

But it also brought death threats.

On Tuesday, a spokesman for the Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, accusing her of promoting Western, secular values.



"This was a new chapter of obscenity, and we have to finish this chapter," he said. "We have carried out this attack."

The attack on the young girl has shocked Pakistan, a nation long hardened to sickening acts of violence.

Mian Iftikhar Husing Husain, the local information minister, said: "It is the sign of weakness of Taliban that they have been targeting females."

Doctors at the Saidu Sharif Medical Complex in Mingora said Malala would be transferred to a hospital in the north-western city of Peshawar for further treatment but all three girls were in a stable condition.

Malalai – whose name means "grief-stricken" in the local Pashto language – was 11 when the Taliban took over the Swat Valley and ordered girls' schools to close.

Pakistan's shaky government appeared to appease the hardline militants, signing a ceasefire in 2009 and leaving Maulana Fazlullah, a cleric, to preside over the area.

Malala's anonymous blog is credited with being one of the first voices to alert the world to his brutal campaign of beheadings and violence.

In it, she described how her terrified classmates were forced to hide books under their shawls and lived in fear of having acid thrown in their faces.

She continued to keep her diary when the Pakistani military eventually launched an offensive against the militants.

"I heard my father talking about another three bodies lying at Green Chowk," she wrote. "I felt bad on hearing this news. Before the launch of the military operation we all used to go to Marghazar, Fiza Ghat and Kanju for picnics on Sundays. But now the situation is such that we have not been out on picnic for over a year and a half." The Pakistan army finally drove the Taliban insurgency from Swat in July 2009.

Since then she has campaigned for more girls to have the chance to go to school.

In an interview earlier this year, she described her motivation.

"I was scared enough to see pictures of bodies hanging in Swat. But the decision to ban girls from going to school was shocking for me and I decided to stand against the forces of backwardness," she said.

How Can a 9-Month-Old Baby Be Arrested for Attempted Murder?

Police in Pakistan reportedly arrested a 9-month-old baby boy for attempted murder.

The details are really sketchy, but Fox News reports that Muhammad Mosa Khan, the baby, and 30 other people were charged with threatening police and interfering with state affairs.

Police claim the suspect attempted to kill security officers by throwing stones at them following a raid to catch suspected gas thieves in Lahore, Pakistan, the Times of India reports.

When the judge got one look at the baby boy, he reportedly adjourned the case. Police now say the baby being arrested was only a misunderstanding. However, the judge was unable to dismiss the case completely because it’s not in his jurisdiction.

The superintendent who filed the charges against the child has reportedly been suspended.

The boy’s father claims police arrested them on made up charges and said the crowd was protesting an electricity shortage.

Couple gets death over 'blasphemous' text message

LAHORE: A court in eastern Pakistan has sentenced a Christian couple to death for sending a blasphemous text message insulting to Prophet Mohammed (pbuh), their lawyer said Saturday.

Judge Mian Amir Habib handed the death sentence to Shafqat Emmanuel and Shagufta Kausar in a jail in the town of Toba Tek Singh on Friday, defence lawyer Nadeem Hassan told AFP.

Prosecution department officials confirmed the sentence.

The impoverished couple, who are in their forties, have three children and live in the town of Gojra, which has a history of violence against Christians, Hassan said.

Both denied the charges, Hassan said, adding that they would appeal the sentence.

Maulvi Mohammad Hussain, the prayer leader at a local mosque in Gojra, lodged a complaint against couple on July 21 last year for sending him a text message which he said was insulting to Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).

Hussain accused the husband of sending the message from his wife’s cellphone.

However, defence lawyer Hassan said that the text originated from a cellphone which the couple had lost some time before the incident, so they could not have sent the message.

The defence lawyer said that the couple had suspected rivals of implicating them into blasphemy case to settle personal scores and that they had ties with the complainant.

In 2009, a mob had attacked a Christian neighbourhood in Gojra and burned 77 houses and killed at least seven people after rumours that a Quran had been desecrated.

On March 27, another Christian man Sawan Masih was sentenced to death in Lahore for insulting Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) during the course of a conversation with a Muslim friend in the Joseph Colony neighbourhood in March last year.

Pakistani baby taken into hiding after attempted murder charge

 Relatives of a nine-month old baby charged with attempted murder in Pakistan have taken him into hiding, one said on Tuesday, in a case that has thrown a spotlight on Pakistan's dysfunctional criminal justice system.

Baby Musa Khan appeared in court in the city of Lahore last week, charged with attempted murder along with his father and grandfather after a mob protesting against gas cuts and price increases stoned police and gas company workers trying to collect overdue bills.

"Police are vindictive. Now they are trying to settle the issue on personal grounds, that's why I sent my grandson to Faisalabad for protection," the baby's grandfather, Muhammad Yasin, told Reuters, referring to a central Pakistani city.

The baby is on bail and due to appear at the next hearing on April 12 but Yasin said he was not sure if he would take him to court for the case.

"There is immense pressure on me from various corners," he said.

At his first appearance in court last week, Musa cried while his fingerprints were taken by a court official. Later, the baby sucked on a bottle of milk and tried to grab journalists' microphones as his grandfather spoke to the media.

"He does not even know how to pick up his milk bottle properly, how can he stone the police?" Yasin asked journalists at the court last Thursday.

The baby was apparently charged because an assistant sub-inspector complained in a crime report that Musa's whole family beaten him up and injured his head.

The case has once again highlighted dysfunction in Pakistan's police and justice system.

Poorly trained and underpaid police are frequently accused of corruption and human rights abuses. Many are not even qualified to write a crime report.

Commanders say it is not their fault, pointing out that the this year's federal budget gave the military about $6 billion and the police a paltry $686 million.

The provincial law minister, Rana Sanaullah Khan, told Reuters that the provincial chief minister had ordered an investigation into the charges against Musa. One policeman had been suspended, he said.

"He has directed police authorities to take action against the officials who booked the infant," he said.

Islamic Cleric Suggests Physical Education Classes Leads 'Infidelity and Prostitution'

 Girls in Saudi Arabian schools do not currently have access to physical education classes, but the possibility of adding sports instruction to the curriculum is under discussion.

However, one Islamic Cleric voiced concerns that introducing PE classes would ultimately lead to prostitution. Abdullah Al Dawood, an Islamic cleric tweeted, “If we keep silent about the step of adding PE classes to girls’ schools then we are giving the Shoura Council a green light to continue the steps of Westernization and these steps will end in infidelity and prostitution.”

The Shoura Council voted 92-18 in favor of discussing the addition to the curriculum. The BLAZE reports that the girls would be segregated from the boys, taught by women, and still adhere to the guidelines of Sharia dress.

Last year the Shoura Council approved gym glasses for Saudi Arabian girls in private school. Human Rights Watch director of global initiatives Minky Worden said, “If the government can take down its barrier for private schools, it should give girls and women in publicly funded schools the same benefit.”

Worden explained that the PE classes will have “social, educational, and health benefits” for the female students.

Nigeria: Islamic jihadists abduct 100 schoolgirls as sex slaves

The Qur’an allows for the owning of sex slaves:
 

If you fear that you will not act justly towards the orphans, marry such women as seem good to you, two, three, four; but if you fear you will not be equitable, then only one, or what your right hands own; so it is likelier you will not be partial. (Qur’an 4:3)

This verse is the basis for Islamic polygamy, allowing a man to take as many as four wives, as long as he believes he is able to “deal justly” with all of them. But justice in these circumstances is in the eye of the beholder. Ibn Kathir says this the requirement to deal justly with one”s wives is no big deal, since treating them justly isn’t the same as treating them equally: “it is not obligatory to treat them equally, rather it is recommended. So if one does so, that is good, and if not, there is no harm on him.”
 
The verse goes on to say that if a man cannot deal justly with multiple wives, then he should marry only one, or resort to “what your right hands own” — that is, slave girls.
 
The Qur’an commentator Maulana Bulandshahri explains the wisdom of this practice, and longs for the good old days:
 

During Jihad (religion war), many men and women become war captives. The Amirul Mu”minin [leader of the believers, or caliph -- an office now vacant] has the choice of distributing them amongst the Mujahidin [warriors of jihad], in which event they will become the property of these Mujahidin. This enslavement is the penalty for disbelief (kufr).

He goes on to explain that this is not ancient history:
 

None of the injunctions pertaining to slavery have been abrogated in the Shari”ah. The reason that the Muslims of today do not have slaves is because they do not engage in Jihad (religion war). Their wars are fought by the instruction of the disbelievers (kuffar) and are halted by the same felons. The Muslim [sic] have been shackled by such treaties of the disbelievers (kuffar) whereby they cannot enslave anyone in the event of a war. Muslims have been denied a great boon whereby every home could have had a slave. May Allah grant the Muslims the ability to escape the tentacles of the enemy, remain steadfast upon the Din (religion) and engage in Jihad (religion war) according to the injunctions of Shari”ah. Amen!

This is by no means an eccentric or unorthodox view in Islam. The Egyptian Sheikh Abu-Ishaq al-Huwayni declared in May 2011 that “we are in the era of jihad,” and that as they waged jihad warfare against infidels, Muslims would take slaves. He clarified what he meant in a subsequent interview:
 

…Jihad is only between Muslims and infidels”¦.Spoils, slaves, and prisoners are only to be taken in war between Muslims and infidels. Muslims in the past conquered, invaded, and took over countries. This is agreed to by all scholars–there is no disagreement on this from any of them, from the smallest to the largest, on the issue of taking spoils and prisoners. The prisoners and spoils are distributed among the fighters, which includes men, women, children, wealth, and so on.
 
When a slave market is erected, which is a market in which are sold slaves and sex-slaves, which are called in the Qur”an by the name milk al-yamin, “that which your right hands possess” [Qur"an 4:24]. This is a verse from the Qur”an which is still in force, and has not been abrogated. The milk al-yamin are the sex-slaves. You go to the market, look at the sex-slave, and buy her. She becomes like your wife, (but) she doesn’t need a (marriage) contract or a divorce like a free woman, nor does she need a wali. All scholars agree on this point–there is no disagreement from any of them. [...] When I want a sex slave, I just go to the market and choose the woman I like and purchase her.

Right around the same time, on May 25, 2011, a female Kuwaiti activist and politician, Salwa al-Mutairi, also spoke out in favor of the Islamic practice of sexual slavery of non-Muslim women, emphasizing that the practice accorded with Islamic law and the parameters of Islamic morality.
 

…A merchant told me that he would like to have a sex slave. He said he would not be negligent with her, and that Islam permitted this sort of thing. He was speaking the truth”¦.I brought up (this man”s) situation to the muftis in Mecca. I told them that I had a question, since they were men who specialized in what was halal, and what was good, and who loved women. I said, “What is the law of sex slaves?”Â
 
The mufti said, “With the law of sex slaves, there must be a Muslim nation at war with a Christian nation, or a nation which is not of the religion, not of the religion of Islam. And there must be prisoners of war.”
 
“Is this forbidden by Islam?,” I asked.
 
“Absolutely not. Sex slaves are not forbidden by Islam. On the contrary, sex slaves are under a different law than the free woman. The free woman must be completely covered except for her face and hands. But the sex slave can be naked from the waist up. She differs a lot from the free woman. While the free woman requires a marriage contract, the sex slave does not–she only needs to be purchased by her husband, and that”s it. Therefore the sex slave is different than the free woman.”

While the savage exploitation of girls and young women is an unfortunately cross-cultural phenomenon, only in Islamic law does it carry anything approaching divine sanction. Here is yet another human rights scandal occasioned by Islamic law that the international human rights community and the mainstream media cravenly ignore.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Suspected Islamic extremists abducted about 100 female students from a school in northeast Nigeria before dawn Tuesday, but some of the teens managed to escape from the back of an open truck, officials said.
 
The girls were abducted after midnight from a school in Chibok, on the edge of the Sambisa Forest that is an insurgent hideout, said Borno state police commissioner Tanko Lawan.
 
Gunmen killed a soldier and police officer guarding the school, then took off with at least 100 students, a State Security Service official said.
 
A local government official said he did not know how many of the girls have escaped but that “many” have walked through the bushes and back to Chibok. The girls were piled into the back of an open truck and, as it was traveling, some grabbed at low-hanging branches to swing off while others jumped off the slow-moving vehicle, he said. The two officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to give information to reporters.
 
All schools in Borno state were closed three weeks ago because of an increasing number of attacks by militants, who have killed hundreds of students in the past year. But the young women — between 16 and 18 years old — were recalled to take their final exams, the local government official explained.
 
Islamic extremists have been abducting girls to use as cooks and sex slaves.
 
Insurgents from the Boko Haram terrorist network are blamed for attacks that have killed more than 1,500 people this year alone. The group — whose name means “Western education is forbidden” — has targeted schools, mosques, churches, villages and agricultural centers in increasingly indiscriminate attacks. They have also made daring raids on military barracks and bases.
 
The extremists also are accused of Monday morning’s explosion at a busy bus station in Nigeria’s capital that killed at least 75 people and wounded 141.

Several parents described how they were forced to carry out their own search for the girls without help from authorities, but had to pull back when they were close to where they believe the hostages were being held, in a dense forest.

“We formed a search party, riding on motorcycles into the forest, searching several places until a man gave us information that he saw our girls with the abductors ahead,” said Shettima Haruna, whose daughter is missing.

“The man actually told us that our children were not far away. But he warned that the abductors were well armed and kill at will, so we decided to save our lives and returned.” Another father, Shettima Hamma, confirmed the search party had to give up because they had no armed support.

“We trailed the abductors of our daughters far into very dangerous places inside the forest, but we couldn’t go further because we have no sophisticated weapons that could match that of those holding our daughters,” he said.

 No one has claimed responsibility for the April 14 attack on the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, a town in Borno state in northern Nigeria, but Boko Haram is suspected.

The group, which has ties to al-Qaeda’s Saharan and Somali proxies, is fighting for strict Islamic law to be introduced across Nigeria’s north, which is majority Muslim but moderate. Its name means “Western education is sinful”.

More than 1,500 people have already died in the conflict this year, including 75 in a car bomb at a bus station near the capital Abuja the same day of the abduction.

Parents have disputed the number of girls who were taken hostage. The school headmaster claimed on Tuesday that more than 230 of its pupils were initially kidnapped, and only 39 had escaped.

The mass abduction is a major embarrassment for Nigeria’s military, which had announced last week that security forces had rescued all but eight of those kidnapped, but was then was forced to retract the statement.

Musa Muka’s 17-year-old daughter Martha Musa, was preparing to sit her O-Levels when she was abducted.

“I have not seen my dear daughter, she is a good girl, we plead with government to help rescue her and her friends; we pray nothing happens to her,” Mr Muka said.

It’s ok to surrender wife to rapist, Egyptian Cleric says in fatwa

An Egyptian preacher has issued a fatwa – an Islamic legal opinion – according to which **** is like robbery and a husband should not risk his life protecting his wife’s honor from another man.

 Yasser Burhami, the vice president of Salafist Call, the religious arm of the political ultra-conservative Nour party, has compared a **** with a robbery, saying that nobody should put their live in danger for money.

“In this case he [husband] is forced [to surrender her] and not obliged [to defend her],”Al Arabiya quoted the cleric as saying in his fatwa.

Burhami’s remarks, published on Anasalafy.com have been widely condemned by other clerics and activists in Egypt.

“Every Muslim has to protect his honor even if that leads him to jail or death. The sacrifice to protect a wife'shonour is a religious obligation,” Assaeed Mohammad Ali, an official at Cairo's religious endowments ministry told the al-Masry al-Youm daily.

Sheikh Ali Abu al-Hasan, the former head of al-Azhar’s fatwa committee, said that this fatwa was “baseless in the Islamic Sharia” and that protecting a female honor is an obligation for her husbands and her relatives, Al Alrabiya quotes.

In a rebuttal, Salfist Call defended their cleric, saying that he only meant there was no “obligation of defending the [wife’s] honor.”

“But if the husband is certain that he is not capable of defending himself, that he will die and that the honor of his wife will be jeopardized, what can he do?” said Sheikh Ali Hatem, a Salafist Call party spokesman.

"He is allowed to choose between sacrificing the honor and protecting his life."

On Thursday, Egypt’s religious endowments ministry banned Burhami from preaching in any of Egypt's mosques, saying that he is not an al-Azhar graduate, Egypt's Islamic Research Academy.

Man Allegedly Tells Wife His ‘Islamic Belief’ Gives Him the Right to Kill Her During Brutal Purported Assault

An Arizona man is in police custody after allegedly punching and trying to strangle his wife, reportedly telling her that his “Islamic belief” gives him the right to kill her, WFSB-TV reported.

According to court paperwork, Ansar Muhammad, 43, attacked his wife over the weekend after accusing her of having an affair.

He reportedly carried her from the family home to his car before driving and parking behind a local pharmacy, where he purportedly punched her repeatedly and attempted to cut off her air supply.

Muhammad allegedly then brought his wife back to their home, where he threatened to throw her in a nearby lake; she cannot swim.

He then took away her phone and sexually assaulted her, according to court paperwork.

The couple’s three children were apparently asleep inside the home at the time of the incident.

The woman was able to phone police after her husband fell asleep.

Muhammad was reportedly arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of aggravated and sexual assault as well as unlawful imprisonment. He is being held without bond.

The group, which has ties to al-Qaeda’s Saharan and Somali proxies, is fighting for strict Islamic law to be introduced across Nigeria’s north, which is majority Muslim but moderate. Its name means “Western education is sinful”.

More than 1,500 people have already died in the conflict this year, including 75 in a car bomb at a bus station near the capital Abuja the same day of the abduction.

Parents have disputed the number of girls who were taken hostage. The school headmaster claimed on Tuesday that more than 230 of its pupils were initially kidnapped, and only 39 had escaped.

The mass abduction is a major embarrassment for Nigeria’s military, which had announced last week that security forces had rescued all but eight of those kidnapped, but was then was forced to retract the statement.

Musa Muka’s 17-year-old daughter Martha Musa, was preparing to sit her O-Levels when she was abducted.

“I have not seen my dear daughter, she is a good girl, we plead with government to help rescue her and her friends; we pray nothing happens to her,” Mr Muka said.

Nigerian Kidnapped Schoolgirls Forced Into Islam, Marriage

Schoolgirls in Nigeria abducted by suspected members of Boko Haram are being converted to Islam and taken as brides in forced marriages, said Pogu Bitrus, chairman of the Chibok Development Association.

Of the 230 students still missing following an April 14 raid on a school hostel in the Chibok area in the northeastern state of Borno, about 200 are Christians and the rest Muslims, Bitrus, who represents the body of community leaders, said yesterday.

Borno is the birthplace of the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, which means “western education is a sin” in the Hausa language. The group wants to impose Shariah, or Islamic law, in Africa’s biggest oil producer and largest economy. Leader Abubakar Shekau warned in a video obtained in March that all students should leave university and girls drop out of school to get married.

“In Islam, it is allowed to take infidel women as slaves,” Shekau said. “In due course, we will start taking women away.”

The insurgency in the north and the security operations by President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration to stop it have left at least 1,500 people dead this year, Amnesty International said on March 31.

So far 53 of the girls have escaped, leaving 220 still hostage, according to Asabe Kwambura, principal of the state-run Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok.

About 200 protesters marched through major streets in Abuja today to the parliament to demand action by the government to rescue the hostages. “There must be a concerted effort to bring back our girls,” said Oby Ezekwesili, one of the leaders of the march. “We cannot simply act as if it is just another event.”

Senate President David Mark received the protesters, saying that lawmakers “share in your pain” and would work with them for the rescue of the girls.

Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shekau Vows To Sell Nigerian Abducted Schoolgirls

The leader of Boko Haram vowed to sell hundreds of schoolgirls that were kidnapped in the north of the country two weeks ago, Agence France Press reports on Monday.

Abubakar Shekau, the infamous head of the Nigerian Islamist militant group, made the comments in a taped video message in which he also claimed responsibility for the mass abduction.

"I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah," Shekau said, according to AFP.

Armed militants abducted more than 300 Nigerian girls from their secondary school in Borno state on April 14, driving them off into the remote Sambisa forest. While some managed to escape, police said last week that 276 were still missing.

Civic organizations had warned earlier that the young women were being forced to marry extremists for as little as $12 and had been trafficked across the borders with neighboring Chad and Cameroon.

Also on Monday, Nigeria arrested the leader of a protest group that called on authorities to do more to find the kidnapped girls. A source told Reuters that Naomi Mutah Nyadar had been detained for allegedly falsely claiming that one of the abducted girls was her daughter.

‘Sex Jihad’ Fatwa Permits Incest in Syria

Last year, according to Arabic media accounts, “Saudi cleric Nasser al-‘Umar issued a fatwa permitting mujahidin [jihadis] in Syria to have sex-jihad with their sisters [muharamhum] if no one else is available.   The Saudi preacher also praised the mujahidin for their ongoing fight against, in his words, the machine of infidelity and oppression, that is, the Syrian and Iranian regimes.”

The cleric issued his fatwa on “one of the channels associated with the radical jihadi movements” where he also reportedly said: “Some today are opposing the fatwas being issued by the clerics which serve our mujahidin brethren fighting in Syria [a likely reference to Muslim criticism—as opposed to Western denial—of the sex-jihad fatwas], without criticizing the killing of children and women in Syria.”

As shocking as this report may seem, it is not the first of its kind.    For example, according to this Arabic documentary video (click “cc” for English subtitles), “The new jihad allows brothers and sisters in Syria belonging to the [al-Qaeda linked] al-Nusra Front to marry each other under the name of jihad because of the lack of girls among fighters of that organization.”

One man appears on video saying, “At the Zawia mountain there is an imam called Imam Hussein.  They bring him a brother and a sister, he says ‘Allahu Akbar’ on them three times to have sex together and make them husband and wife.”

The rationale and justification of these fatwas is based on the Islamic maxim, “necessity makes the prohibited permissible,” not unlike the more familiar adage, “the ends justify the means.” 

In other words, because fighting to make the “word of Allah,” or Sharia, supreme is the greatest good, and because sexually-deprived jihadis fighting to do just that may lose morale and quit the theatre of war for lack of women, it is permissible, indeed laudable, for Muslim women—including apparently relatives—to volunteer to give up their bodies to these men so that they can continue the jihad to empower Islam, in accordance with the Koran:  “Allah has purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain” (Yusuf Ali trans. 9:111).

This verse has been traditionally understood as Muslim men selling “their persons,” that is, their bodies, to the jihad in exchange for paradise. In the context of sex jihad, however, Muslim women—including sisters—are also selling “their persons” (their bodies for sex) to indirectly empower the jihad, also in exchange for paradise.

The fact is, the maxim, “necessity makes the prohibited permissible,” is responsible for any number of seeming contradictions: Muslim women must chastely be covered head-to-toe—yet, in the service of jihad, they are allowed to prostitute their bodies.  Homosexuality is forbidden—but permissible if rationalized as a way to kill infidels.  Lying is forbidden—but permissible to empower Islam. Suicide is forbidden—but permissible during the jihad—called “martyrdom.”  Stealing is forbidden—but the rightful booty of the jihadi who conquers infidels.

The moral of the story? Sharia is only draconian and rigid for those who find themselves living under its jurisprudence.  But as for those who work to empower Allah’s law—chief among them, the jihadis—not only are they permitted to ignore Sharia, they are permitted to ignore basic standards of morality.

Hence the ancient and widespread appeal of the jihad.

"Humiliate Christians Until They Convert"

"In a sermon earlier this year, a British Islamist leader outlined how under an "Islamic State" Christians and other non-Muslims would be systematically humiliated and persecuted to encourage their women and children to convert to Islam.

Abu Walid, an Islamist affiliated with the hardline Salafi stream, cited sources in the hadith (Islamic teachings outside of the Koran, based on the words of Mohammed's companions) which detailed how the "People of the Book" - referring to Jews and Christians - were to be treated as second-class citizens, or dhimmis, if they chose not to convert to Islam.

Those measures include, among other things: being forced to walk on the narrower side of the street to Muslims, shaving their foreheads, wearing red belts around their necks, being forced to wear odd shoes and only being allowed to travel sideways on donkeys.

The aim is essentially to bully them into accepting Islam - or at the very least to encourage their children and wives to leave them to escape humiliation.

Though originally recorded back in January, the footage was only recently published publicly by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

Salafism is a puritanical version of Sunni Islam which preaches a return to what they see as the true origins of Islam, modeled strictly on the actions of the religion's founder Muhammed.

While the ideas expressed in the sermon might sound frankly bizarre, they were in the past implemented in the aftermath of the Islamic conquests of the Middle East, Africa and other regions including the Iberian Peninsula.

Those non-Muslims who were not "People of the Book" were usually given a much simpler choice: convert or die.

Even today, Salafi Islamists - including Al Qaeda-linked groups - often impose variations of the humiliating dhimmi status on non-Muslims under their control, which also includes the payment of a regular jizya tax to their Muslim rulers.

In the northern Syrian town of Raqqa, for example, the few Christians who remain have been allowed to retain their non-Muslim faith only under condition of accepting second-class citizenship and the payment of the jizya.

And following the ouster of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood president Mohammed Morsi last summer, Islamist extremists took control of several towns with large Coptic Christian communities, systematically abusing and humiliating them until being driven out by the military.

In the most recent high-profile attack against Christians, Islamist terrorists kidnapped nearly 300 Christian girls in Nigeria - and then released a video mocking their relatives and threatening to sell them into slavery."

Sudanese Woman Sentenced to Hang for Refusing to Convert to Islam Will Not Recant

A pregnant woman in Sudan is refusing to convert to Islam in the face of being sentenced to death by hanging.

Meriam Ibrahim, 27, was officially sentenced on Thursday after she was convicted of apostasy against Islam for professing to be an Orthodox Christian. Ibrahim was born to a Muslim father, but was raised by an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian mother as the father left the home when Ibrahim was a child. In Sudan, children are expected to follow the religion of their fathers.

Ibrahim was also sentenced to 100 lashes for allegedly committing “zena”—that is, having illegitimate sex by marrying a non-Muslim. The expectant mother married a professing Christian man, Daniel Wani, in 2011, and the two have an 18-month old son together, along with the child in Ibrahim’s womb. Sudanese law prohibits women from marrying non-Muslims, although men can marry whomever they wish without penalty.

Ibrahim was convicted of apostasy on Sunday for rejecting Islam and was given four days to recant, which would have saved her life. Unlike others who have faced similar sentences in Sudan, she refused to convert.

“I am a Christian,” she declared before the court, “and I will remain a Christian.”

“We gave you three days to recant, but you insist on not returning to Islam,” Judge Abbas Khalifa told Ibrahim, as reported by the AFP. “I sentence you to be hanged to death.”

Human rights groups worldwide have condemned the death sentence, characterizing it as “heinous” and “abhorrent.”

“Since 1999, Sudan has been designated as a Country of Particular Concern for its ongoing, egregious, and systematic violations of religious freedom,” said Caitlin Hayden, spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, in a written statement. “We continue to urge Sudan to fulfill its constitutional promise of religious freedom, and to respect the fundamental freedoms and universal human rights of all its people.”

“The fact that a woman has been sentenced to death for her religious choice, and to flogging for being married to a man of an allegedly different religion is appalling and abhorrent,” said Manar Idriss of Amnesty International. “Adultery and apostasy are acts which should not be considered crimes at all, let alone meet the international standard of ‘most serious crimes’ in relation to the death penalty. It is a flagrant breach of international human rights law.”

Ibrahim’s husband, who is confined to a wheelchair, told CNN that he is distraught over the sentence.

“I’m so frustrated. I don’t know what to do,” he said. “I’m just praying.”

Over 60 percent of Sudan identifies as Muslim, and the nation’s president, Omar al-Bashir, also an adherent to Islam, seeks to enforce Sharia law.

“Conversion from Islam is a crime punishable by death, suspected converts to Christianity face societal pressures, and government security personnel intimidate and sometimes torture those suspected of conversion,” reads a report written by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

International pressure continues to mount against Sudan to rescind its sentence as a number of human rights groups are demanding freedom for Ibrahim.

Pregnant Sudanese Woman Gives Birth in Prison

Meriam Ibrahim, the pregnant Sudanese woman who was sentenced to death for refusing to renounce her Christian faith, gave birth to a baby girl early Tuesday morning while shackled to a prison floor.

Ibrahim was also sentenced to 100 lashes for adultery. Since her father was a Muslim, the courts don't recognize Ibrahim's marriage to American Christian Daniel Wani.

According to Christian Solidarity Worldwide, the court ruled that Ibrahim, 27, left Islam when she married a Christian man.

But Ibrahim disputes that view.

"I was never a Muslim," she said. "I was raised a Christian from the start."

Ibrahim and her first child, a 20-month-old son, have been in jail since February.

Her husband, who is confined to a wheelchair, said Ibrahim is chained at the ankles in her cell and is in declining health.

Pregnant Pakistani Woman Stoned to Death by Family for Choosing Own Husband

 A pregnant Pakistani woman was stoned and killed for refusing an arranged marriage, and marrying a man she loved instead. Farzana Parveen died from head trauma on May 27 after her family, including her father, brothers and arranged fiancé pelted her with bricks.

25-year-old Parveen was engaged to a cousin, but chose to marry for love, against her family’s wishes. The family accused Parveen’s husband of kidnapping. Parveen went to the Lahore High Court to refute the accusations; when she left the court building, Parveen was attacked by family members, calling the act an “honor killing.”

Police officer Umer Cheema said that about 12 men escaped the authorities, but Parveen’s father was caught. But according to Pakistani law, families who carry out honor killings are often freed. The culture believes that it is necessary to kill an individual who shames the family.

“This is a huge flaw in the law. We are really struggling on this issue,” said Wasim Wagha of the Aurat Foundation.

CNN reports that 869 Pakistani women fell victim to honor killings in 2013.

Nigeria Announces Arrest of Boko Haram Commander and 485 Members

 Hours after an attack killed at least 21 young soccer fans watching a televised World Cup match, Nigerian security forces announced they had arrested a senior commander and more than 485 members of the militant Islamist group Boko Haram that is terrorizing the country.
 
He was arrested when police apprehended a convoy of suspected terrorists in the southern state of Abia. “Police refuse to disclose the identity of the militant,” reported Ludovica Iaccino for International Business Times. “Boko Haram mainly targets villages in the north. The discovery of a senior Boko Haram militant in a southern state stoked fears that the insurgents are expanding their range.”
 
The slain soccer fans – reportedly mostly children and young soccer players – had gathered at an outdoor video screen to watch the World Cup’s Brazil v Mexico match in the tournament’s opening round. A bomb went off, apparently concealed in a pedicab-rickshaw.
 
Boko Haram - which means "Western education is forbidden" in the Hausa language - made headlines worldwide after the mass abduction of nearly 300 Christian school girls last April. The terrorist group, which is officially the Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad or “Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati Wal-Jihad,” has paraded the girls in front of video cameras and bragged that they will be sold into slavery.
 
The group was founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002 and seeks a "pure" Islamic state ruled by Islamic “shari’a” law and halting westernization – particularly the education of girls – in Nigeria, which is officially half-and-half Christian and Muslim. He died in police custody in 2009.
 
The group primarily attacks churches, schools, bus stations, public gatherings and other undefended “soft targets” where there will be no armed resistance – resulting in more than 12,000 deaths in Nigeria between 2002 and 2013, according to Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan in an interview with Nigeria’s Premium Times newspaper. At least 90,000 Nigerians have been displaced from their homes due to the group’s violence.
 
The Nigerian government is advising people to avoid gathering in public spaces to watch the World Cup, fearing that more deadly attacks might occur.
 
The BBC reported a hospital worker in Yobe's capital city Damaturu, where the blast took place, as saying truckloads of children and young athletes were being bought in for emergency treatment.  Human Rights Watch says Boko Harām sometimes uses child soldiers, including 12-year-olds – often the children of victims kidnapped and forced into service – often heavily drugged during raids.

"I looked around me and there was fire burning, houses blown up and dead people," said Ayuba, whose scars are still visible on much of his body. "I kept on crying, crying for someone to come help me, but no one would come."
 
“Ayuba is among a fast-growing list of Boko Haram victims,” reported CNN. “The Islamist militants have intensified their wave of terror targeting the north and beyond. And every attack gets more brazen.

“They swoop in on foot, motorcycles and car convoys. They hurl bombs and pull guns with lightning speed.

When Ayuba heard the news of the schoolgirls’ kidnapping, “I started crying," Ayuba told CNN. "I said to myself, 'What's wrong with these people?'"

Meriam Ibrahim Re-Arrested at Sudan Airport

 One day after Sudanese Christian Meriam Ibrahim was released from prison, she has been re-arrested by authorities. The world applauded the freedom of Ibrahim and the recission of her death penalty sentence; now Ibrahim is back in the hands of police.

Ibrahim had been in prison since February on apostasy charges.

Ibrahim was detained at the airport by about 40 security agents reports BBC News. The former prisoner was planning to travel to the United States with her husband and two young children; Ibrahim's husband, Daniel Wani, holds U.S. citizenship.

It is said that Ibrahim is being held at the headquarters of a Sudanese security agency.

Man Gets 6 Years in Egyptian Prison for Liking Christian Facebook Post

 

An Egyptian man was convicted and sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison along with a fine of $840 dollars for violating Egypt’s blasphemy laws, which make illegal any criticism of the Islamic religion.

The International Christian Concern (ICC) reported that Kerolos Shawky, a Christian man living in southern Egypt, was initially accused of violating the Islamic blasphemy laws in article 98 of the Egyptian penal code, which prohibits “ridiculing or insulting heavenly religions or inciting sectarian strife”, but as the ICC notes, the law is almost always used to go after religious minorities.

Kerolos’ lawyer said, "Kerolos didn't intend to insult the Islamic religion, only he made a like on the page of Knights of the Cross on Facebook. He doesn't have much experience in the internet plus he suffers from poor eyesight. So there was not any intention for the contempt or blasphemy of Islam.”

A Researcher for the Institute for Middle East Policy said violent acts unfolded which seemed to be directly related to the ongoing trial. "Shortly before the man's trial was set to take place, Christian-owned property in the same village was set ablaze in what appears to be a related attack,” he said.

The ICC pointed out that Kerolos’ conviction is the third of its kind since Abdel Fatah El-Sisi took control of Egypt.

The ICC’s Middle East regional manager said of the trial:

The Egyptian legal system appears to have no concern for upholding the rule of law or protecting the fundamental rights of Egyptian citizens. From frivolous convictions on accusations of blasphemy like those brought against Kerolos and Demyana or the conviction of Bishoy, to the cases involving journalists, political dissidents, and protestors, fundamental human rights are being trampled. Egypt must quickly abandon the use of sham trials that violate the most basic rights of all citizens, including its Christian minority. The United States should use its role as a key ally and a significant donor of funds to Egypt to ensure that the country is moving to protect the fundamental rights of its citizens.

Canada mosque teaches 4-year-olds how to behead

An Ontario mosque is coming under fire for using young Muslim children to conduct mock beheadings in a school play.

Video footage of the Islamic Jaffari Center in Thornhill, Ontario, shows children as young as 4 years old watching and learning to conduct beheadings in a play that reportedly took place two years ago.

The video was featured on the Canada’s Sun News Network television program, “Byline with Brian Lilley.”

A young boy can be seen sitting on the floor as another boy approaches him from behind with a machete.

At the end of the play, the boy playing the part of the executioner announces, “Here are the heads.”

Will British authorities seize and destroy copies of the hadith of Bukhari for stating that Aisha was nine was Muhammad consummated his marriage with her? Will those who own or sell it be charged with “religious aggravation”?

Britain is dying, while its authorities do nothing to save it, for fear of being called “racist.” When telling the truth becomes an offense for which someone can be arrested and prosecuted, the society in which this happens in its death throes.

    Street evangelist Mike Overd, a client of the Christian Legal Centre, is being prosecuted in the United Kingdom for an alleged religious aggravation public order offense.

    The charges follow a complaint to police in Taunton, that Overd made a comparison between the perfect life of Jesus and the life of Islam’s prophet, Muhammad.

    Police have informed the former paratrooper that the Crown Prosecution Service wishes to bring three charges against him under Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

    A Taunton police sergeant recently gave an interview to BBC television and a newspaper locally, urging residents to film the evangelist’s preaching as it was alleged that Overd’s preaching was “causing offense.”

    The officer has also asked local traders to film Overd if they believed he was preaching “offensively.”

    Overd insists that when he made a comparison between the perfect life of Jesus and the life led by Muhammad, he did not speak in a hateful way.

    “It was a simple comparison and it was factual. Muhammad did marry a 9-year-old girl. I have no hatred of Muslims in me at all and only preach the truth of the gospel. Recently a Muslim man came to my defense when I was preaching and a local shopkeeper started to shout at me.

    “The Muslim gentleman didn’t take offense because he said he knew I was simply preaching what I believed and agreed there was no hatred in me. I’ve got this incident on video, and I also have video evidence of the incidents which have led to this forthcoming prosecution.”

    Overd has been told his case will come to court before the end of this year.

ISIS Magazine: Islam Calls for Sexual Slavery
English-language digital publication of jihadist group says raping and sexual enslaving non-Muslim women is simply part of Islam.

The brutal jihadist Islamic State (ISIS) terror group that has seized large portions of Iraq and Syria in recent months released the fourth edition of its English-language digital magazine "Dabiq" on Sunday, in which it encourages taking women as sex slaves as part of Islam.

In the article in question from the digital publication, entitled "The revival (of) slavery before the Hour" - a reference to Judgment Day - the group outright calls for the sexual enslavement of non-Muslim women, particularly from the Kurdish Yazidi ethnic minority.

"One should remember that enslaving the families of the kuffar - the infidels - and taking their women as concubines is a firmly established aspect of the Shariah, or Islamic law," wrote ISIS in the article, reports CNN.

Harrowing reports have surfaced of the endless **** and torture being imposed on Yazidi women and girls, with many opting for mass-suicide after the brutalities.

The article comes out in time for the release of a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report on ISIS crimes against the Yazidis in Iraq, which is based on interview with 76 displaced persons.

"The Islamic State's litany of horrific crimes against the Yazidis in Iraq only keeps growing," said HRW special adviser Fred Abrahams. "We heard shocking stories of forced religious conversions, forced marriage, and even sexual assault and slavery - and some of the victims were children."

In fact, ISIS is not unique in its use of sexual assault and slavery against its enemies.

Deputy to the Chief Mufti (Islamic scholar) of Syria, who is loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime that ISIS is fighting against, in early January gave Syrian soldiers religious permission to **** so as to take revenge on Syrian rebels.

Speaking of the phenomenon of ISIS atrocities, Islam expert Prof. Rafi Israeli told Arutz Sheva last month that the acts are based on Islam having a basic disregard for human life: "for them it is not sacred, like it is for us." He noted the Koran calls for terror against enemies, without specifying or limiting who those enemies are.
