It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

WHY SHOULD GOD BLESS AMERICA?

By Al Duncan

February 11, 2011
NewsWithViews.com

During President Barrack Obama’s April 2009 visit to Turkey's Cankaya Palace, he was asked if America was a Christian nation. His reply was: "America’s a predominantly Christian nation" but "we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation."

Most Americans still believe that the U.S. was founded as a Christian nation, while others believe it was founded as a secular nation. According to a number of 2008 polls, an overwhelming majority, approximately 76 percent of Americans called themselves Christian.

Tim LaHaye researched the religious beliefs of the fifty-five men who wrote and signed the U.S. Constitution; fifty-three were orthodox members of one of the established Christian Churches.

Since fifty-three of the fifty-five Founding Fathers who drafted the U.S. Constitution were members of various Christian denominations the First Congress enacted the First Amendment to prevent Congress from passing a law that would favor one Christian denomination over another: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…;"

Patrick Henry addressed this matter before the House of Burgesses, May 1765: “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”

Article VII of the U.S. Constitution states: "Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth IN WITNESS whereof… "

The phrase "the year of our Lord" refers to the year that Jesus Christ is believed to have been born, and the capitalization of the word "Lord" denotes His deity. The reference to "The Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth" refers to July 4, 1776, when the Founding Fathers signed The Declaration of Independence because that document was the "Articles of Incorporation" of the Constitution, and the foundation of our nation. The Declaration of Independence refers to God as "Nature's God," "Creator," "Supreme Judge of the Universe," and "Divine Providence."

On Sept. 15, Obama addressed the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and declared: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Obama omitted the key phrase, “endowed by their Creator.” His misquote is from the Declaration of Independence, the unique document that distinguishes the U.S. from every other country.

This is inscribed on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial in the nations capital: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.”

Whittaker Chambers, a Soviet spy who defected from Communism wrote in his 1952 autobiography, Witness: "Humans, and societies, live by faith and die when faith dies. Religion and freedom are indivisible. Without freedom, the soul dies."

While men have fought for liberty since the dawn of civilization, they have usually replaced one tyrant with another. The American Revolution, however, was different. The U.S. Constitution provided unparalleled freedom for over 150 years; it began to fail when Supreme Court Judges began to re-interpret the law, and the public failed to retain the belief that freedom comes from God.

Schools opened with pray and the Bible was taught in schools for 150 years, that is, until 1963 when the Supreme Court ruled that these harmless acts of reverence to God were unconstitutional.

The Founding Fathers feared that the First Amendment would be distorted: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or the right of the people to assemble peaceably, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances," so they included the Tenth Amendment, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Thomas Jefferson feared centralization of power because he knew that power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely everyone. He therefore wrote: "It has long been my opinion that the germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the Constitution of our Federal Judiciary; an irresponsible body, working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today, and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped from the States, and the government of all be consolidated into one. To this I am opposed; because, when all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks of one government on another, and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated..."

Many believe that the centralization of power in Washington D.C. and the destruction of our Christian heritage began in 1933 when Franklin Delano Roosevelt became president. FDR endorsed the National Recovery Act (NRA) that allowed Federal officials to regulate/control agriculture, industry, and private property. Congress enacted the NRA, but the U.S. Supreme Court declared the Act unconstitutional and blocked its implementation. According to the New World Encyclopedia, President Roosevelt was furious. He attacked the Supreme Court, and announced he was going to pack the Court with new Justices who supported his agenda. A wave of indignation swept the country because the American people realized President Roosevelt was jeopardizing our system of "checks and balances." FDR believed in centralized government and that it should have god-like authority, and he thus began to systematically replace retired Justices with men willing to re-interpret the Constitution and undermine Christianity. By 1941 FDR’s Supreme Court appointments held a five to four majority.

Since 1941 the Federal Government has incessantly commandeered power from the States, and to this day the Federal Courts are systematically eradicating God from American institutions.

It was in Engel vs. Vitale, 1962, that the justices discovered a previously unrecognized “wall of separation between church and state.” Despite dozens of court decisions establishing the U.S. a Christian nation, they decreed that there was to be no future mention of Christianity, or religion, in public places. With that decision, the Supreme Court nullified the Judeo-Christian heritage of our nation.

Then, in a series of unprecedented decisions, the court outlawed prayer in public schools, discussion of religion in schools, ordered the destruction of a war memorial built in the shape of a cross, outlawed references to God in official publications, acknowledgment of Christmas in public places and religious exhibits on public property. As a direct result of these decisions, children can no longer be taught about our nation's Christian heritage or that our laws are based on the holy scriptures in the Bible.

The removal of Christianity from public schools was replaced by a new philosophy that taught children to make decisions that were no longer based on generations of traditional Biblical teachings of right and wrong, but on their own concept of what was right and was wrong. Accordingly, our schools adopted the belief-system of Aleister Crowley who taught his disciples: “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.”

On Feb. 16, 2007, WorldNetDaily, reported that a former Christian college that removed a cross from its chapel because it could offend visitors, this week packed its auditorium with an explicit **** show.

The Encyclopedia of 20th Century Photograph, depicts a 1989 exhibition, partially funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, which are public funds, Andres Serrano featured his 1987 photograph of a Christian crucifix suspended in a beaker of urine.

A former member of the U.S. Supreme Court has justified a city's decision to ban prayers at council meetings that are “in Jesus name,” calling it a “reasonable” restriction on a councilman's speech rights.

Governor Timothy Kaine of Virginia supports a new statewide policy under which state troopers serving as chaplains will not be allowed to pray in Jesus’ name, explaining that he can pray “without mentioning Jesus.”

WorldNetDaily reported, Oct. 21, 2010 that a single, 31-year-old woman in Michigan who posted a note on her church bulletin board seeking a “Christian roommate” to share her residence has been cited by the state for violating the Fair Housing Act by discriminating against those of other faiths.

While, on Jan. 31, 2008, Bob Unruh, of WorldNetDaily said that a Nevada Hindu who has opened the U.S. Senate with a faith-specific chant now has provided the invocation to open the state senate in Colorado with a Hindu chant of the “om” syllable that, supposedly, contains the universe.

And on Feb. 01, the U.S. Air force Academy revealed that the chapel is adding a new worship area for followers of Earth-centered religions, including Paganism, Druidism and the form of witchcraft known as Wicca.

Brock Parker, of the Globe, reported on Oct. 10, to make it easier for Muslim students to honor their highest holy days, Cambridge will close schools for one Muslim holiday each year beginning in the 2011-2012 school year.

On Constitution Day, 2009, Michelle Winkler, a teacher at a Sacramento, Florida school was charged with contempt after her husband, who is not employed by the district, offered a meal prayer at a private event in a neighboring county.

April 16, 2008, a federal appeals court ruled that a New Jersey high school football coach broke the law when he bowed his head while students on his team prayed.

As William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania wisely warned: “Those who will not be governed by God will be ruled by Tyrants.” When the Godly standard of right and wrong is rejected, people make their government, their leaders, or themselves to be a god. Each person does whatever seems right in his or her own eyes and what’s considered as right only enhances each individual’s personal condition, and thus, the inevitable collapse of society.

Accordingly, Jesus Christ and the God of the Bible have been barred from our public institutions, kicked out of our schools, forbade to be mentioned in the work place, marginalized in pulpits, vilified throughout the mainstream media, and maligned, belittled, mocked, and slandered through plays, movies and TV sitcoms.

For centuries hypocrites, professing to be Christians, have defamed God and Christianity by their lies, thievery, drunkenness, adultery, warmongering and all their ungodly ways. But the true Christian, whom Christ characterized as his disciples by their love one for another, were also commissioned to share his love and way of life with others, are now being marginalized and constrained to a state of fear.

And so I conclude as I began, why should God bless America?
