Israeli widow blasts ‘insensitive’ Kerry claim of no murders

Washington Free Beacon

Israeli victims of terrorism lashed out at Secretary of State John Kerry for his "insensitivity" after he inaccurately claimed "not one Israeli was killed by a Palestinian from the West Bank" in a recent speech.

During a controversial speech over the weekend in Germany, Kerry threatened Israel with economic boycotts and claimed that the Jewish state is enjoying a respite from Palestinian terrorism.

"There's a momentary prosperity, there's a momentary peace," Kerry said. "Last year, not one Israeli was killed by a Palestinian from the West Bank."

However, this is untrue. At least five Israelis were murdered by West Bank Palestinians in 2013.

Evyatar Borovsky is one of those victims. He was stabbed to death 10 months ago while hitchhiking in the West Bank. He left behind his wife, Tsofia, and five children.

"It's a feeling of carelessness and neglecting actual Israeli needs," Tsofia Borovsky told the Free Beacon on Tuesday when asked about Kerry's remarks.

At least 5? Would think it would be even more than that!

But yeah...WOW! I doubt this was a "mistake" on his part(for whatever excuse he chooses to come up with, that is).

New York Times Says Third Intifada To Delegitimize Israel Is Now Underway

Israel is facing a third intifada, influential New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman says. "Being here, it’s obvious that a Third Intifada is underway. It’s the one that Israel always feared most — not an intifada with stones or suicide bombers, but one propelled by nonviolent resistance and economic boycott." Friedman contends that the leaders of this uprising are not even Palestinians, saying that this intifada is led "by the European Union in Brussels and other opponents of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank across the globe. Regardless of origin, though, it’s becoming a real source of leverage for the Palestinians in their negotiations with Israel." The Times columnist points out that US Secretary of State John Kerry already made this threat when he recently warned that a campaign to boycott and delegitimize Israel will gain momentum if peace talks fail.

Yes, the same thing they've been doing to churches in America since the 50's - threatening to take their bowl of pottage away(and then end up bribing them with more bowls of pottage) - which is why 99% of churches in America has been so corrupt.

We'll see how this turns out, but wouldn't surprise me that this could be an effective scheme to get Israel to compromise, and ultimately usher in the Daniel 9:27 prophecy.

‘Kerry fails to get Obama backing to confront Israel on peace terms’

John Kerry sought but failed to get backing from President Barack Obama to confront Israel over its objections to his peace proposals, and therefore his bid to try impose terms for peace on Israel and the Palestinians has “pretty much collapsed,” an Israeli TV report claimed on Sunday night.

Netanyahu accepts Kerry’s “framework” in principle, seeks publication delayed to Knesset recess

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report February 11, 2014, 9:23 AM (IST)

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has informed the White House in Washington and US Secretary of State John Kerry of his acceptance in principle of the US framework document - subject to the reservations he has raised with US Special Envoy Martin Indyk, debkafile’s exclusive Washington sources report.

This step was followed by news that the prime minister would call on President Barack Obama in the first week of March during his next visit to Washington.

It was also the background to Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer’s defense of the US Secretary in an interview published in TIME Magazine Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Kerry’s comment about boycott and international isolation hanging over Israel if his peace mission failed was denounced in Jerusalem as attempted intimidation. However, Dermer let him off the hook by saying: “I think he was making a descriptive statement. I don’t think he was doing it in order to pressure Israel.”

By overstating the ambassador’s role as “Bibi’s brain,” TIME was hinting that Dermer’s comment represented the prime minister’s current thinking on the incident.

In the exchanges leading up to the Obama-Netanyahu meeting, the prime minister’s office and Israel embassy have asked the White House and State Department to delay publication of the Kerry document to mid-April during the Knesset’s Passover recess. This will help Netanyahu to stay clear of the rowdy debates and heated special sessions he expects to erupt over his acceptance of the paper.

The Secretary of State may therefore add a few weeks to the three-way negotiating time table and release his framework accord at the end of April or early May.

A high-ranking US official told debkafile: “We all know that the die is cast in Jerusalem and that Netanyahu has accepted Kerry’s guidelines. They are now working on the reservations he needs to submit for his government coalition to survive the expected storm of protest and resistance and for the talks with the Palestinians to carry on.

Netanyahu will also try presenting the Kerry paper to the public as an American proposal which is not binding either on Israel or the Palestinians, except for the attached reservations.

US officials au fait with such processes predict that those reservations will eventually find their way to the dustbin. In 2004, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon appended 16 reservations to President George W. Bush’s letter defining the American position on the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.

In that letter, Bush omitted recognition of the “right of return” for the 1948 Palestinian refugees, and tangentially acknowledged Israel’s right to establish large settlement blocs in the West Bank in consideration of demographic changes.

The Bush letter did not refer to the 1967 borders, but instead determined that future negotiations should be based on the 1949 Armistice Lines.

Sharon’s reservations had dropped by the wayside by the time Congress came to approve the Bush letter in its original form.

Informed sources in Washington forecast a similar fate for the Kerry framework document
.

For now, the US Secretary has made his own request of Netanyahu and the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas: He asks them to draw out the negotiations on his framework after its release over two years – that is up until late 2016 when the Obama administration ends. Abbas is against any prolongation of the process. He has so far agreed to an extension of no more than a year.

Obama to meet Jordan’s king in California desert‎

Discussion to focus on Syrian civil war and Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, ahead of Netanyahu visit

By AFP February 14, 2014, 6:54 am

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will launch a new round of Middle East diplomacy Friday in a plush oasis in the arid California desert, hosting a Valentine’s Day summit with Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

Obama and the king will swap the piles of snow in Washington for the Sunnylands retreat at the Annenberg estate in Palm Springs, to discuss issues including the pitiful torrent of refugees pouring into Jordan from Syria.

The meeting will be the first of a trio of meetings between Obama and key Middle East leaders in the coming weeks.

On March 3, the US president will sit down at the White House for his latest encounter with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has made no secret of his skepticism over an interim deal that Washington and other world powers reached with Iran on its nuclear program.

Then at the end of March, he will travel to Saudi Arabia, for what is likely to be a sharp personal reminder that Saudi King Abdullah shares Netanyahu’s doubts about Obama’s strategy of testing the sincerity of an Iranian diplomatic opening.

Obama and his royal guest will sit down in California just two days after the US president admitted that Syria was “crumbling,” while his Director of National Intelligence James Clapper described the civil war-splintered country as an “apocalyptic disaster.”

Jordan has borne the brunt of much of the humanitarian overflow — nearly 600,000 Syrian refugees have now crossed its borders, straining its infrastructure and finances.

Obama has all but admitted that his policy is failing in the expressed US aim of sparking a political transition in Syria leading to the exit of President Bashar al-Assad.

But he frequently notes that the United States is the largest aid donor to Syrian refugees. Washington has so far donated $1.7 billion to the cause, according to the US Agency for International Development.

But there are no signs that the Obama administration believes that a new US policy — or a change in its reluctance to either to do more to arm opposition rebels or to commit direct US military resources — would bring an end to the crisis any closer.

Obama's 'big breakthrough' coming by end of year
Leaked: Official declaration of Palestinian state

TEL AVIV – The Palestinian Authority received a pledge from the U.S. that by the end of 2014, the Obama administration will issue an official written declaration presenting general highlights of a future Palestinian state, a senior Palestinian negotiator told WND.

The negotiator further said the goal is to have the general framework for a deal ironed out by April.

The current framework for an Israeli-Palestinian agreement being brokered by Secretary of State John Kerry calls for the phased implementation of more Palestinian sovereignty within three to five years, the negotiator said.

As part of the written declaration, the U.S. is set to officially recognize Palestinian rights in eastern sections of Jerusalem, without defining the exact territories that would be eventually handed to the PA.

The U.S. will declare on paper that the Jordan Valley territory is “occupied” by Israel and that Palestinians have rights there, the negotiator said.

Kerry is currently discussing a proposal in which Israel would lease some of the Jordan Valley from the PA so some Israeli communities in the area can stay, said the negotiator.

The written framework will also declare the West Bank “occupied,” according to the negotiator.

Besides a declaration on paper, Kerry continues to broker specifics of a final-status deal, the negotiator said.

WND previously reported that Kerry is asking for the international community to administer the holy sites in the eastern section of Jerusalem, while details are still being discussed about whether Palestinians will have some symbolic presence in the area.

WND in December was first to report Kerry’s plan calling for an international administrative mandate to control holy sites in eastern Jerusalem.

The exact composition of the international mandate is up for discussion, but Kerry’s plan recommended a coalition that includes the Vatican and a group of Muslim countries such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The international arrangement is being proposed as a temporary solution for about two to three years while security arrangements in Jerusalem between Israelis and Palestinians are finalized, said Israeli and Palestinian diplomatic sources.

John Kerry is a Catholic, and is saying the RCC needs to be included. Okay, he's obviously biased towards his cult.

So where does the Muslim countries play into this? More and more it looks like Obama has the Muslim contingent covered, even though he attends a "church". (wink wink!)

More and more, to me anyway, this gets more obvious and blatant. Regardless of the players, Israel isn't going to win this deal however it plays out in detail.

Obama gets lecture on peace talks from Netanyahu in White House meeting

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met with US President Barack Obama in the Oval Office on Monday, pushing back against pressure from the White House to swiftly cut a deal with the Palestinians as the president warned time was running out for peace. “Israel has been doing its part, and I regret to say that the Palestinians haven’t,” Netanyahu said to Obama, in front of the press. “The people of Israel know that it’s the case.”

Yeah, its kind of hard to ignore the historical fact that Islam didn't exist prior to the early 600's AD, and the people Israel are historically documented as a people in Judea, specifically in Jerusalem during the time of Nero of Rome, whom the world openly admits persecuted Christians.

Historically, you can't have Christians without Jews existing first, and it's a documented FACT that Christians existed in the 1st century AD, some 500 years BEFORE Islam was ever invented.

Sorry, historically, Islam has ZERO claim to any part of Israel. That is a historical fact.

Israeli naval raid nabs rocket shipment

Israeli naval forces on Wednesday seized a ship laden with rockets allegedly bound for militants in the Gaza Strip, and officials accused Iran of orchestrating the delivery in an elaborate 5,000-mile (8,000-kilometer) journey that included covert stops across the region.

The Syrian-made M-302 rockets would have put Israel's biggest cities well within range of Gaza, where militants already possess thousands of less powerful rockets. During eight days of fighting in 2012, armed groups fired 1,500 rockets into Israel, including several that reached the outskirts of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The naval raid, which took place in the Red Sea hundreds of miles from Israel, came as Iran showed off powerful new ballistic missiles equipped with multiple warheads. The arms bust drew renewed Israeli calls for world powers to toughen their stand in negotiations over the Iranian nuclear program.

"Iran has been exposed for what it is. It smiles in the Geneva talks about its own nuclear ambitions, gives soothing words, and as they're doing that, they're shipping these deadly weapons to the world's worst terrorists," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in California during a U.S. visit. "Such a regime must not be able to have the capacity to make nuclear weapons."

Israel believes that Iran is trying to build a nuclear weapon, a charge Iran denies. Israel says a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a threat to the existence of the Jewish state, citing Iranian calls for Israel's destruction, its development of long-range missiles and its support for hostile militant groups.

Netanyahu has been an outspoken critic of the efforts by six world powers to negotiate a deal with Iran that would substantially scale back its nuclear program in exchange for ending international sanctions. He says a current, interim deal gives Iran too much relief while getting little in return, and fears a final agreement would leave Iran with the capability to make a bomb.

Since the global powers reached their interim deal with Iran last November, Netanyahu's warnings about Iran have been largely ignored by world leaders.

Iran's announcement Wednesday that it now has missiles with multiple warheads, greatly boosting their destructive power, only heightened Israeli concerns. The semiofficial Fars news agency said the new Qiam missile was specifically built to target U.S. bases in the region. Iran already possesses missiles capable of striking Israel and parts of Europe.

Israeli officials said that Wednesday's naval raid took place in international waters about 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the coast of Sudan, and came after months of painstaking intelligence work.

They said the rockets had been flown from Syria to Iran months ago, then shipped from Iran's Bandar Abbas port to Umm Qasr, Iraq, before being loaded onto the KLOS C civilian ship destined for Sudan. From there, Israeli officials said they were to be smuggled overland through Egypt to Gaza - a route that has been used in the past.

"We have been following this shipment for a long time through impressive intelligence work," Israel's military chief, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, told reporters. He did not elaborate, but Israel is believed to use satellites and on-the-ground spies to collect information on its enemies.

Rear Adm. Yaron Levy, the navy's chief of operations, said the long distance from Israel, about 900 miles (1,500 kilometers) away, and the presence of foreign navies and merchant ships, complicated the mission and made it difficult to protect secrecy. He said Israel deployed a "strong naval force" but halted the Panamanian-flagged ship without incident.

"We got on the ship with the captain's permission. We found what we found, and you know the rest of the story," he said.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said the circuitous route, stretching nearly 5,200 miles, or 8,300 kilometers, was meant to conceal the shipment.

"It was an Iranian attempt to bring weapons to the Gaza Strip without leaving Iranian fingerprints," he said. "Apparently they tried to conduct a secret operation that we managed to thwart."

In Washington, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the U.S. had been in close coordination with Israel throughout the mission.

"Even as we continue our efforts to resolve our concerns over Iran's nuclear program through diplomacy, we will continue to stand up to Iran's support for destabilizing activities in the region, in coordination with our partners and allies," she said.

The ship was far out at sea Wednesday and was being brought to Israel. It was expected to arrive in the Israeli port of Eilat in the coming days. Video released by the military showed Israeli soldiers on the ship inspecting the rockets, shipped in large crates. The video also showed beige bags containing cement with the words "Made in I.R. Iran," in English, written on them.

Military officials gave no evidence to support their claim the rockets were headed to Gaza, though militant groups in the past have used Sudan as a transit point for arms shipments. The smuggling tunnels along Gaza's southern border with Egypt traditionally used for weapons have been all but shuttered by Egypt's new military government, making it unclear how militant groups would have been able to get the rockets into Gaza.

Officials would say only that the claim was based on firm intelligence assessments. The Islamic militant group Hamas, which governs Gaza, as well as smaller groups like Islamic Jihad and al-Qaida-inspired Salafist groups, all possess significant rocket arsenals.

Iran's semi-official Fars news agency, close to the country's elite Revolutionary Guard force, called Israel's claims "mere lies." Salah Bardawil, a Hamas spokesman, said the group "knew nothing" about the Israeli claims and said they were part of "the occupation's systematic campaign" against Gaza. Islamic Jihad, which has close ties with Iran and appeared to be the most likely target of the shipment, did not immediately comment.

Israel believes militants have had a tough time restocking their arsenals since the 2012 fighting. But officials said the M-302s would have upgraded the capabilities of Gaza militants, thanks to their longer range and heavier payload.

The M-302s have distances of 60 to 120 miles (100 to 200 kilometers) and can carry warheads of 220 to 385 pounds (100 to 175 kilograms). The higher end versions would nearly double the range, and carry a payload nearly 10 times as powerful, as the current arsenal in Gaza.

"It's not a precise rocket, but that doesn't matter when it explodes in a densely populated area," said Uzi Rubin, a former head of Israel's missile defense program. "An apartment building wouldn't hold up to a direct hit from a 150-kilogram warhead."

Israel has moved to intercept weapons shipments in the past, carrying out similar raids in 2011 and 2009. More recently, it has carried out a series of airstrikes in Syria to halt advanced weapons from being transferred to the Lebanese group Hezbollah. Last week, an Israeli airstrike hit a Hezbollah arms shipment in Lebanon for the first time since 2006.

Israel is also suspected of carrying out airstrikes in Sudan on arms shipments believed to be bound for Gaza. Israel has never confirmed carrying out the strikes.

Israel, PA Get Copies of Kerry’s Proposal
Israel, PA leaders reportedly receive controversial Kerry proposal for creation of PA state.

Israeli and Palestinian Authority leaders have received copies of United States Secretary of State John Kerry’s proposed diplomatic agreement, the PA’s Al-Quds newspaper reports.

Copies of the proposal have reportedly been given to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and to chief PA negotiator Saeb Erekat.

The report has not yet been confirmed by officials on either side.

The Kerry proposal has been the subject of speculation over the past several weeks. Journalist Thomas Friedman reported in January that Kerry’s deal includes a PA capital city in eastern Jerusalem and would create a PA state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza with borders based on the 1949 armistice line.

The deal would require the PA to recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people, and to give up the demand for the “right of return” to Israel of descendants of Arabs who fled the country during the War of Independence in 1948.

Friedman’s report contradicted an earlier report from Xinhua which said Kerry had proposed the “return” of 80,000 Arabs to Israel.

There has been concern in Israel that Kerry plans to “attack” Netanyahu with heavy pressure, and coerce him into accepting terms that will be bad for Israel’s security, including a withdrawal from the Jordan Valley. Likud MKs have warned that if Netanyahu were to give in to Kerry, it would mean the end of his party – and new national elections.

U.S. President Barack Obama has reportedly promised Netanyahu that his administration will expect concessions from the PA, as well.

U.S. Says There's No Need for Palestinians to Recognize Israel

The United States believes there is no need for the Palestinian Authority (PA) to recognize Israel as a Jewish state as part of a peace agreement, State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Saturday. Psaki, who spoke to the PA-based Arabic-language Al-Quds newspaper, said, “The American position is clear, Israel is a Jewish state. However, we do not see a need that both sides recognize this position as part of the final agreement.”

'Israel, Prepare For Armageddon And Forget US Help'
EMPact America founder warns of Iran nuclear threat, says under Obama US has turned into an 'enemy of Israel.'

Henry Schwartz, a prominent entrepreneur and EMPact America  founder, spoke with Arutz Sheva following his organization's National Security Action Summit last week. The purpose of the conference was to save America from a "dire" situation, revealed Schwartz.

US President Barack Obama has given Iran permission to build a nuclear weapon through a "bogus deal," charged Schwartz, warning the Iranians "will come back to Israel, G-d forbid, they will come back to America."

"Giving Israel bunker busters and (fuel) tankers, and a lot more so that they can go ahead and do America's job is the very minimum that America should do," appraised the conservative leader.

Schwartz warned that the Obama administration is "effectively an enemy" of Israel, opining that if Israeli acted to take out Iran's nuclear program, "Obama would probably be a detriment to Israel," and "feed intelligence" to Iran about Israeli activities.

Israel must find new alliances and not rely on the US, warned Schwartz, saying "America is not going to be here to take care of Israel; it can't take care of itself."

Turning to the Israeli public and leaders, Schwartz warned the Jewish state must "prepare for armageddon," given the clearly expressed Iranian intentions to destroy Israel coupled with the Islamic regime's nuclear program.

A new Cold War

On other fronts, Schwartz warned "the Cold War is not over, it's restarted," pointing to Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula.

Schwartz criticized US President Barack Obama's hesitancy, warning that as a result Russia was likely to move on other Baltic states and eastern European countries.

To stop the Russian aggression, Schwartz recommended that the US make a deal to export liquefied natural gas to Ukraine and break the country's Russian dependence, in addition to military rearrangements in the region to send a clear message that invasions will not be tolerated.

The Obama Peace Plan Includes Permanently Dividing The City Of Jerusalem

Barack Obama’s “two state” peace plan would not just permanently divide the land of Israel.  It would also permanently divide the city of Jerusalem.  It is anticipated that the “Kerry Plan”, which is expected to be revealed to the public soon, will call for a Palestinian capital in east Jerusalem without specifying the exact borders.  According to some media reports, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has approached Palestinian leadership with the idea of locating the Palestinian capital in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina.  Of course the details of any peace agreement will change as negotiations progress, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear – the Palestinians will never accept an undivided Jerusalem and the U.S. government is going to pressure Israel to hand part of the holy city over to them.  But if Israel gives in and accepts a “peace plan” that includes the permanent division of Jerusalem, it will end up being absolutely disastrous for Israel, for the Palestinians and for the United States.

Kerry: Netanyahu wrong to insist Palestinians recognize Israel as Jewish state

Secretary of State John Kerry told members of Congress on Thursday that international law already declares Israel a Jewish state, and called Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu's insistence on a public declaration of Israel's Jewish character from the Palestinians "a mistake" in the diplomatic process.

Talk about hypocrisy!

This whole deal is about the rights of "Palestinians" to be recognized as a state, and Kerry says it would be a mistake for Israel to require the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a state?

Israel must recognize "Palestine", but Palestine won't recognize Israel equally as a state? What kind of diplomacy is that? It makes no sense on any level.

Israeli Ministers Criticize Kerry over ‘Jewish State’ Remarks

John Kerry drew criticism over the weekend from Israeli government ministers after the secretary of state made comments last week suggesting Israel’s insistence that the Palestinians officially recognize their country as a Jewish state is a mistake.

“I think it’s a mistake for some people to be, you know, raising it again and again as the critical decider of their attitude towards the possibility of a state and peace, and we’ve obviously made that clear,” Kerry told the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday in an apparent critique of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for whom the recognition is a key issue in negotiations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ze’ev Elkin of Netanyahu’s Likud party told Israel Radio on Sunday that Kerry’s remarks fit a trend over the past two decades in which western nations pressure Israel and not the Palestinians, no matter which side they agree with.

Elkin added that Israel had to now stand up for its principles and end the “sad tradition.”

Communications Minister Gilad Erdan called the timing of Kerry’s remarks before President Barack Obama’s meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas this coming week unfortunate.

“It is unfortunate that ahead of the Abbas-Obama meeting, Kerry makes a mistake and once again pressures the wrong side,” Erdan said.

“The Secretary of State should ask Abbas why he refuses to recognize the Jewish state. It is obvious that reason is that the Palestinians want to bring up more demands in the future, even if an agreement is signed, and are not interested in ending the conflict,” he added.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon also took issue with Kerry’s assessment that Israel was mistaken in insisting its Jewish character be recognized.

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 News that aired on Saturday, Ya’alon said that the refusal of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to recognize Israel as a Jewish state would make a final status peace deal impossible.

Netanyahu has insisted that the Palestinian Authority recognize Israel as the Jewish state before any peace deal can be signed, but Abbas has said he would refuse to do so. Palestinian officials have attributed that refusal to an unwillingness by the Palestinians to give up any future potential benefits to the those who fled the area during the 1948 and 1967 wars and their descendants.

Even opposition Labor Party leader Isaac Herzog said the Palestinians will ultimately have to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

During an account of his testimony described in the Times of Israel, Kerry said that the “Jewish state” issue has already been addressed by several UN resolutions and that the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat “confirmed that he agreed it would be a Jewish state.”

Power: US Opposes Palestinian Moves To Statehood

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power told a House panel on Wednesday that the U.S. opposes all unilateral actions that the Palestinians take to statehood. She says there are no shortcuts to statehood, and that any unilateral actions could be "tremendously destructive" to the peace process.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had promised at one point to suspend Palestinian membership applications to United Nations agencies and international conventions. Israel, in turn, pledged to release 104 long-held Palestinian prisoners during the talks, which were to last until late April. But in a surprise move Tuesday, Abbas signed letters of accession to 15 international conventions, saying this was a response to Israel's failure to release the last of four groups of prisoners by the end of March.

Minister Calls to Cancel Oslo Accords
Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel declares Israel's right to 'break the rules' after PA runs to UN.

Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) launched sharp criticism at the Palestinian Authority (PA) Wednesday evening, after news surfaced that Ramallah had turned to the UN to apply for legitimacy and recognition, in breach of the conditions of peace talks.

"The Palestinians applying to the UN breaks all the rules," Ariel wrote on a Facebook post, "and we have to respond in kind - by canceling the Oslo Accords, which have only brought terror and murder."

"The Palestinians have proven once again that there is no reason to give them false gifts, and release terrorists and murderers for a process whose conclusion is well known in advance," he continued.

Ariel continued by emphasizing that the US is "obligated" to release Jonathan Pollard this year - whether in the framework of negotiations or not.

"The US must release Pollard in honor of the holiday of freedom - Passover - and show humanitarianism regarding his [medical] condition. He paid his dues and it's time to release him, and no longer hold him hostage."

Ongoing controversy over the talks stems around the fourth batch of terrorist releases, as MKs point out that the previous releases have done nothing to further talks, and that several of the released terrorists have contributed to the increase in terror attacks over the past year.

PA chief negotiator Saeb Erekat stated last month that Abbas was staying in talks solely for the sake of the terrorist releases, prompting Israeli officials to reconsider completing the deal - which has always been contingent on real progress in the talks.

In response, Israel told PA officials over the weekend that the deal was postponed, after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said the release would "topple the government" due to public and political backlash.

In the meantime, the White House also offered to release US captive Jonathan Pollard in exchange for releasing more terrorists, enacting a construction freeze, and keeping talks going, but there is no word yet on whether the proposal was accepted. Several politicians and religious figures have already expressed deep reservations over the deal.

It's a Jewish law thing I think. They been swapping prisoners for ages. Seems I remember something in the Old Testament about it.
