December 12, 2014, 03:37:09 am Christian40 says: Revelation 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
December 10, 2014, 04:48:07 pm BornAgain2 says: Thank you for the info, Mark - also, notice that in Matthew 24:21, it just says "great tribulation"(NO "the" in front of it, that is). It's alot like in Revelation 2:22 where those that commit adultery with Jezebel are cast into great tribulation(again, NO "the" in front of it). And I don't think this particular passage is referencing the Time of Jacob's Trouble period.
December 10, 2014, 04:37:51 pm Mark says: The "Time of Jacob's Trouble" is the correct title. If i remember correctly, the "great tribulation" as used was by Hal Lindsey as to distinguish between 3 1/2 year marks. The Lord talks of the Great Tribulation in Matt 24:21 happening AFTER the abomination of desolation. So other authors tend to use the phrase to refer to the last 3.5 years as the great Tribulation.
December 10, 2014, 11:36:59 am BornAgain2 says: Isn't the proper title "Time of Jacob's Trouble", and NOT the "great tribulation period"? I say this b/c(and this is just me) the former clearly says the 7 year period largely focuses on Israel. While the latter craftily says it focuses on EVERYONE(yes, including the NT Church). Ultimately, it seems like the more everyone uses the latter term, the more everything will have this misperception that it's something else.

That should say Eugene Peterson's New Age The Message bible he endorses.

I can't find the quote, but Weirsbe appeared to be a long-time defender of the King James Bible for awhile.

With today’s epidemic of Bible per-versions spreading like a runaway virus, nothing should shock us . . . but buckle up! If you have any spiritual pulse, Eugene Peterson’s The Message will shock you. The Message promotes the mystical New Age message with a boldness never seen in a mainstream Bible. The Message has sold over 10 million copies and has continually ranked among the top five best-selling Bibles. The Message website (www.navpress.com) displays endorsements from such prominent Christians as Billy Graham, Chuck Swindoll, Christianity Today, Dan Quayle, Bill Hybels, Gordon Fee, J.I. Packer, Jack Hayford, Jerry Jenkins, Jerry Savelle, John Maxwell, Max Lucado, Richard Foster, Rick Warren, Rod Parsley, Tony Campolo and Warren Wiersbe, among many others.
