The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/24/opinions/social-media-false-narratives-hughes/index.html
10/24/16
Is social media turning you into a zealot?

(CNN)Have you heard? Hillary Clinton is dying of Parkinson's disease. Also, Donald Trump thinks the United States shouldn't have stopped the Bosnian genocide. Angry mobs of "Bernie bros" are hurling chairs at Democratic staffers. And President Obama, who smells like sulfur, is followed everywhere he goes by a swarm of flies.

These are fake statements, pulled from the bowels of the internet. Can you tell?

If you get your information from social media, the world is an almost supernaturally dark place these days. Our feeds and timelines are jammed with outrageous and incredible accounts that prove what we all already suspected: our political opponents are crazy. Maybe some of them are downright evil.

The good news is that much of what you read via social media isn't true. The bad news is that more and more people believe it is. Social media increasingly dominates our news-getting habits. But recent studies suggest the stories we share on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and elsewhere are unreliable, polarizing, and even destructive to the social order.

A recent experiment published at Buzzfeed demonstrates that an average of 28.55% of articles shared on partisan social media are either mostly false, or a mixture of truth and fiction.

Another study, done by Gnip analytics and reported in the new issue of The Atlantic suggests that across-the-aisle dialogue could make up as little as 10% of social media interactions.

How much of that do you suppose is friendly crosstalk? Not much, according to yet another study by scholars from George Washington and American universities. According to their study of social media during the 2011 Egyptian revolution, the authors say the most politically active social media users were also the ones most prone to spreading stories promoting paranoia and violence.

Indeed, to those of us who have studied the role of social media in uprisings such as Iran's "Green Revolution" and the Arab Spring, this all comes as no surprise. Social media platforms like Twitter were instrumental in organizing the protests that led to the overthrow of despots throughout the Middle East. But when the smoke cleared, and the ousters had been accomplished, old dictatorships were replaced with new ones, and the few democratically elected governments were fast dominated by hardline Islamists.

Social media, while excellent at spreading unrest, proved incapable of supporting open, democratic reforms.

Like digital platforms in general, social media is great at disrupting institutions and industries. But when it comes to the hard work of reform and building sustainable systems, it is a dangerous hindrance. Stable government depends on a pause in revolutionary fervor. Open societies rely on people's faith in the good intentions of their fellow citizens. Democracy can't function without a well-informed electorate.

But as the previously-mentioned studies show, social media encourages exactly the opposite of all these virtues. Our personally-tailored social media feeds create what the legal scholar Cass Sunstein calls enclave extremism — groupthink and factionalism with a tendency to spiral into zealotry.

This happens in part because social media are biased in favor of duplication and repetition. It is easy to share a story, retweet it, reblog it, or affirmatively "like" it. But Silicon Valley designers have yet to invent an emoji that means "poorly argued, but reflecting valid concerns."

Add to that the fact that the most shareable stories are "click bait" designed to generate quick bursts of outrage and self-righteousness. What you get is a thousand niche realities, each spreading misinformation, mistrust, and rage.

Unfortunately, we in the United States are beginning to see the political consequences of social media's bias towards the outrageous and untruthful. Regardless of who is elected President in November, that person will face a crisis of legitimacy stemming from accounts of election fraud and suppression, or foreign or intra-party meddling. Some of these news items will contain kernels of truth, but many will not. And all of them will be spread on social media.

The very structure of social media — peer-to-peer and relatively free of oversight — means that this will not be an easy hurdle for the next President to clear. Meanwhile, social media use continues to spread worldwide. It may ultimately fall to users to de-escalate the war of words and pictures before it becomes a global digital war of all against all.

As the experience of the Arab Spring should remind us, virtual unrest can easily spill into the streets. We should ask if all the "likes" in the world are worth that outcome.

Choosing a Cabinet From Familiar Faces

Donald Trump was very public with his vice-presidential selection process, effectively auditioning several candidates, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, retired Gen. Michael Flynn and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

It's unknown whether he would take the same approach to his cabinet appointments.

Donald Trump’s transition team is being headed up by Christie, while Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has reportedly been deeply involved in that, along with many other parts of the presidential campaign.

ABC News reporting and analysis points to businessman Carl Icahn or the Trump campaign’s national finance chairman, Steve Mnuchin, as possible treasury secretary options.

Giuliani and Sheriff Joe Arpaio could be potential secretaries of the Department of Homeland Security, and Christie has long been seen as a contender for the attorney general spot.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This isn't the first report I've heard about Guilliani being a potential cabinet appointee...

Arpaio? This guy, who played his role in Obama's Hegelian Dialectic birther movement, just never goes away!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lots of Action on the First Day

During the campaign, Trump has repeatedly said he will “repeal and replace Obamacare," "immediately suspend the admission of Syrian refugees," "order a review of every single regulation issued over the last eight years," "begin lifting all regulations that are hurting our workers and our businesses," "terminate every single unconstitutional executive order signed by President Obama," “restore the rule of law to our land," "begin implementing plans for construction of a wall along our southern border," and "get rid of [international gangs of thugs and drug cartels]," all on his first day.

**One payer system coming soon!

Thousands of anti-Trump protesters take to streets of U.S. cities

CHICAGO/NEW YORK (Reuters) - Demonstrators marched in cities across the United States on Wednesday to protest against Republican Donald Trump's surprise presidential election win, blasting his campaign rhetoric about immigrants, Muslims and other groups.

In New York, thousands filled streets in midtown Manhattan as they made their way to Trump Tower, Trump's gilded home on Fifth Avenue. Hundreds of others gathered at a Manhattan park and shouted "Not my president."

In Los Angeles, protesters sat on the 110 and 101 highway interchange, blocking traffic on one of the city's main arteries as police in riot gear tried to clear them. Some 13 protesters were arrested, a local CBS affiliate reported.

An earlier rally and march in Los Angeles drew more than 5,000 people, many of them high school and college students, local media reported.

A demonstration of more than 6,000 people blocked traffic in Oakland, California, police said. Protesters threw objects at police in riot gear, burned trash in the middle of an intersection, set off fireworks and smashed store front windows.

Police responded by throwing chemical irritants at the protesters, according to a Reuters witness.

Two officers were injured in Oakland and two police squad cars were damaged, Johnna Watson, spokeswoman for the Oakland Police Department told CNN.

Secret Facebook groups become Trump-era activist tools: 'This is a wake-up call'
11/14/16

Some say they now want to run for office. Others plan to write to their local mosques to express solidarity with American Muslims and refugees, or to start preparing for the midterm elections in Congress. They are organizing in secret Facebook groups they consider safe spaces with tongue-in-cheek titles like Pantsuit Nation and Bitches For Hillary – not just to mourn but to mobilize.

“This is a huge wake-up call,” said Meghan Myszkowski, 36, of Donald Trump’s win last week.

Myszkowski, a single mother and who runs a social media agency in Pasadena, California, is a member of several invitation-only Facebook groups where disappointed voters – particularly women – are pledging to ignite a novel liberal comeback in the US.

Related: Facebook's fake news: Mark Zuckerberg rejects 'crazy idea' that it swayed voters

Pantsuit Nation was started during the Democratic primary and now has three million members, all by invitation only. A new group, Still Stronger Together, was created last Wednesday, just 12 hours after the election result became clear, and already has more than 6,000 members.

It specifically urges members to suggest ideas for fighting back against what they fear could be a wild conservative agenda from president-elect Donald Trump.

“Liberals were in an echo chamber and not listening to people outside the bubble. I want to start organizing for people to donate to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, the National Organization for Women. A friend of mine has started designing shirts with the proceeds going to these groups and we are talking about it in the secret groups. It’s a start at least,” Myszkowski said.

In her concession speech, Hillary Clinton gave a nod to such groups and called for them to be part of a comeback, saying: “And to the millions of volunteers, community leaders, activists and union organizers who knocked on doors, talked to their neighbors, posted on Facebook – even in secret, private Facebook sites, I want everybody coming out from behind that [to] make sure your voices are heard going forward.”

Prior to the presidential election, Pantsuit Nation was a rallying place for support for Clinton. Since her defeat it has become a haven where devastated Clinton voters commiserate, but also seek advice about related problems and brainstorm about next steps.

One female member in Pennsylvania posted that she went jogging after the election and passed a group of workmen, one of whom yelled: “We own your **** now” – a reference to the audio tape that surfaced during the campaign of then-candidate Trump boasting about grabbing women, unbidden, by the genitals.

Many Pantsuit Nation posters called themselves “blue dots in a sea of red” after voting for Clinton in deeply Republican areas such as Wyoming, Kentucky, Tennessee or Mississippi. They have been sharing stories of Trump voters gloating aggressively at them in the workplace since his victory, or harassing them because they are Mexican. They then receive moral support and advice from other members.

As the Thanksgiving celebration approaches, many posts discuss how – or even whether – to face gathering around the dinner table with family members who voted for Trump.

“It’s been a way to touch base with people who are struggling with hate crimes and it’s a resource to get support because I feel like liberals are going off a cliff,” said Ivory Rieger, 46, a supermarket business analyst in Portland, Maine. She joined Pantsuit Nation about three months before the election and joined Still Stronger Together last week.

She said she was an enthusiastic voter but was now inspired to become a lot more vocal and active in protest against the Trump agenda.

IT BEGINS: Far Left Leader Proposes "Truth Squads" to Disseminate Only Approved Propaganda to Global Community

Democrat operatives organized a coordinated attack against conservative websites following Hillary Clinton’s decisive defeat last week.

Far left leaders, including Barack Obama, blamed the inability of the left to convey “their message” as the reason why they were rejected by the American electorate.

The left pushed a hit list of targeted conservative websites earlier this week.

Now this…
Kenneth Roth, the creepy executive director of Human Rights Watch, a far left international “human rights” organization, wants “truth squads” set up to disseminate approved leftist propaganda to the global community.

Wow!

The left wants a ‘thought police squad’– Wow!

Fugitive Brazilian inmates post 'selfies' on Facebook while on the run

MANAUS, Brazil, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- A Brazilian man who broke out of prison in Manaus has posted photos of himself on Facebook, including one post-escape "selfie."

Brayan Bremer, sentenced on robbery charges, and another another fugitive posed for and posted on Bremer's "Mobile Uploads" Facebook folder a picture amid dense vegetation -- both giving thumbs up with the accompanying caption "On run of jail."

In the image, Bremer did not have shoes on. In one Facebook post, he advises "single ladies" to "take care."

Police said the unidentified man behind Bremer has been captured, while Bremer remains on the run, A Crítica reported. Bremer often used his Facebook account while imprisoned, though it is banned by prison officials.

Bremer was among about 72 people who broke out of the Antonio Trindade jail in Manaus on Sunday. Hours later, 112 inmates broke out of the Anisio Jobim prison amid a deadly riot. Dozens of inmates have been recaptured.

At least 60 people died, including several by decapitation, during Sunday's 17-hour Anisio Jobim prison riot. A total of 1,229 inmates were housed in the prison, which has an intended capacity of just 500.

US DESIGNATES ELECTION INFRASTRUCTURE AS 'CRITICAL'

Citing increasingly sophisticated cyber bad actors and an election infrastructure that's "vital to our national interests," Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson announced Friday that he's designating U.S. election systems critical infrastructure, a move that provides more federal help for state and local governments to keep their election systems safe from tampering.

"Given the vital role elections play in this country, it is clear that certain systems and assets of election infrastructure meet the definition of critical infrastructure, in fact and in law," Johnson said in a statement. He added: "Particularly in these times, this designation is simply the right and obvious thing to do."

The determination came after months of review and despite opposition from many states worried that the designation would lead to increased federal regulation or oversight on the many decentralized and locally run voting systems across the country. It was announced on the same day a declassified U.S. intelligence report said Russian President Vladimir Putin "ordered" an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U.S. presidential election.

The declassified report said that Russian intelligence services had "obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple U.S. state or local electoral boards." None of the systems targeted or compromised was involved in vote tallying, the report said.

A 2013 presidential directive identified 16 sectors as critical infrastructures, including energy, financial services, health care, transportation, food and agriculture and communications.

The designation announced Friday places responsibilities on the Homeland Security secretary to identify and prioritize those sectors, considering physical and cyber threats against them. The secretary is also required to conduct security checks and provide information about emerging and imminent threats.

Such a change does not require presidential action, and only requires the secretary to first consult with the assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism.

Discussions about whether to designate elections systems as critical infrastructure surfaced after hackers targeted the voter registration systems of more than 20 states in the months prior to the November election.

While the designation puts responsibilities on the Department of Homeland Security, it does not require entities that are determined "critical infrastructure" to participate. Much of the nation's critical infrastructure is in the private sector.

Johnson said election infrastructure included storage facilities, polling places and vote tabulation locations, plus technology involved in the process, including voter registration databases, voting machines and other systems used to manage the election process and report and display results.

The designation allows for information to be withheld from the public when state, local and private partners meet to discuss election infrastructure security - potentially injecting secrecy into an election process that's traditionally and expressly a transparent process. U.S. officials say such closed door conversations allow for frank discussion that would prevent bad actors from learning about vulnerabilities. DHS would also be able to grant security clearances when appropriate and provide more detailed threat information to states.

The Obama administration has proposed international cyber rules for peacetime that would expressly note that countries shouldn't conduct online activity targeting critical infrastructure, which will now also include election systems.

President Barack Obama used sanctions last week to retaliate against Russian efforts to interfere in the U.S. election process by expanding a prior executive order that allows for their use in the case of cyberattack on critical infrastructure to entities "interfering with or undermining election processes or institutions." With election infrastructure designated as critical, an attack that takes the system down would also qualify for a response of sanctions.

Georgia Secretary of State Brian P. Kemp, who is a member of the U.S. Election Infrastructure Cybersecurity Working Group run by DHS, is among those who have opposed the designation. Testifying in September to a House Oversight subcommittee, Kemp said more federal oversight could make systems more vulnerable and could make protected records more accessible.

When Johnson discussed the likelihood of the designation in a conference call with state officials on Thursday, Kemp called the action "a federal overreach into a sphere constitutionally reserved for the states." According to a copy of his comments released by his office, Kemp told Johnson on the phone that "this smacks of partisan politics" given the dwindling days left in the Obama administration.

Kemp has appealed to President-elect Donald Trump to investigate "failed cyberattacks" on the Georgia secretary of state's network that traced to the Department of Homeland Security, calling the department's technical explanations insufficient.

Republicans pass sweeping bill to reform 'abusive' U.S. regulation

Republicans on Wednesday passed a bill in the House of Representatives that touched on nearly every step U.S. agencies take in creating and applying new rules, continuing their blitz to radically reform "abusive" federal regulation of areas from the environment to the workplace.

Nuclear Option: '1984' Sales Soar: Could Liberals Be Great Again? - Breitbart
by Charles Hurt8 Feb 20170

In droves, the precious political “liberals” and “progressives” are gobbling up copies of George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984” about “the perils of a totalitarian police state,” according to The Washington Post.

The book reached No. 1 among fiction paperbacks in the Washington area, according to the paper. Just ahead of “It Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis, another throwback novel about “a populist president [who] becomes a dictator.”

Hmmm, I wonder what is going on here.

Are the kids finally waking up and after decades of blithe ignorance and deciding to finally educate themselves about social studies? Are they suddenly “woke” to the ancient questions such as “Who should govern?” and “Where do rights come from?

Are they finally concerned about the dangers of a crushingly powerful and all-knowing Leviathan government that reaches into every aspect of people’s lives? Or, perhaps they are reading up in preparation for a visit to Cuba.

Probably not. But Orwell was a pretty smart guy and wrote some brilliant books. Most of us, of course, did not need to rush out and buy a copy of “1984” after Obamacare was jammed through Congress because, well, because we all still have our copies from when we first read it as teenagers.

The only reason there isn’t an actual Obamacare in “1984” is that even Mr. Orwell’s considerable imagination could not conjure up something so diabolical and wrong.

A system that forces Little Sisters of the Poor to commit what they believe is murder. And then forces them to pay for it.

A system that gives the superstate access to all of your most personal medical information and forces you into medical situations whether you want them or not.

It is the same superstate that President Obama entrusted to spy on elderly people on Social Security who required help keeping their finances straight. If they are not able to balance their checkbooks on their own, they would be deemed mentally unfit and added to the federal list of criminals barred from purchasing weapons.

Seriously, Orwell was a piker compared with this crowd today.

Meanwhile, the federal government monitors Facebook and social media accounts of citizens to make sure they are paying taxes. Yet at the same time the feds have spectacularly failed to monitor social media of terrorists plotting to kill Americans and destroy the greatest force for freedom and individual liberty on the planet today.

The similarities between “1984” and the “utopian” dreams of self-proclaimed “liberals” and “progressives” today — gross misnomers both — are uncanny.

“1984” features Newspeak, the propaganda of Oceania. Individualism and thoughtcrimes were prosecuted by the Thought Police. Today, we have political correctness to shut down debate.

Orwell had his “Ministry of Truth,” which lies about everything. “Ministry of Love” to run the torture program. “Ministry of Plenty” to handle rationing. And, best of all, the “Ministry of Peace,” which kept Oceana in the constant state of war.

Today, we have a “Treasury” Department filled with $20 trillion worth of IOUs.

We have an “Energy” Department that mainly handles spent nuclear fuel.

Our Health and Human Services ministry launches predawn raids on peaceful family farms suspected of selling fresh milk that has not been cooked to specific federal guidelines.

We have a Department of “Education,” which apparently hasn’t been teaching social studies in 40 years.

Best of all, we have the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to arm Mexican thugs, terrorists and drug dealers with guns to be used against Americans.

Orwell had to make it up. We, literally, couldn’t.

But just maybe, “liberals” today will rediscover their roots and reignite a deep suspicion of a large, all-powerful government. Perhaps by reading “1984” they will discover that any government so big that it can give you everything is so big that it will take everything away from you.

Somebody should make up some hats that say: “Make Liberals Great Again.”

Obama Appointed FEC Commissioner Pushing For Internet Censorship Forced To Resign

FEC Commissioner Wanted To Shut Down The Drudge Report

On Sunday, Federal Election Commissioner Ann Ravel tweeted out that she is resigning her position effective March 1, 2017. In her resignation letter Ravel voiced her concerns to President Trump about campaign finance reform.

I respectfully urge you to prioritize campaign finance reform to remedy the significant problems identified during the last election cycle,” the letter says. “Disclosure laws need to be strengthened; the mistaken jurisprudence of Citizens United reexamined; public financing of candidates ought to be expanded to reduce reliance on the wealthy; and Commissioners who will carry out the mandates of the law should be appointed to expired terms at the FEC. Thank you very much.

Ann Ravel was appointed by former President Barack Obama back in 2013 to the FEC to fill a vacant spot according to the Washington Post.

Ravel’s resignation comes as she has become a no-show for public meetings since early December according to the Free Beacon.

From The Free Beacon:

“Ravel had become a frequent no-show at Commission meetings since late last year, phoning into 4 public meetings (one from a train) and completely skipping two executive sessions in January,” a source close to the Commission said in an emailed statement. “That did not stop her, however, from requesting a special meeting to obtain Commission approval to travel to Ecuador, at foreign expense, a request she later withdrew after the Free Beacon wrote about the matter.”

Previously Ravel had pushed hard for shutting down the Drudge Report which has been a political juggernaut ever since breaking the Monica Lewinsky scandal back in the late 90’s.

From The Washington Examiner:

[2014] In a surprise move late Friday, a key Democrat on the Federal Election Commission called for burdensome new rules on Internet-based campaigning, prompting the Republican chairman to warn that Democrats want to regulate online political sites and even news media like the Drudge Report.

Democratic FEC Vice Chair Ann M. Ravel announced plans to begin the process to win regulations on Internet-based campaigns and videos, currently free from most of the FEC’s rules. “A reexamination of the commission’s approach to the internet and other emerging technologies is long over due,” she said.

Momentum Building in Congress to End This Federal Department

Stating that the U.S. Department of Education has "become more interested in protecting the interests of unions, not the students it is supposed to serve," Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-La.) joined the list of co-sponsors to Rep. Thomas Massie's bill to eliminate the department.

Massie's bill is a single sentence, that states—if it is signed into law—that the DoE no longer exists as of a certain date. In addition to Abraham, it has the following co-sponsors:

    Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.),
    Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.),
    Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah),
    Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.),
    Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.), and
    Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho).

"It's time for that to change," Abraham added. "The best way to initiate that change is to return education policy decision making to where it belongs, at the state and local levels."

Interesting listen...apparently Calvin's model pushed for very similar NWO Police State agendas we're seeing now.

United States Government To ‘Simulate Nuclear Blast Over Manhattan’ With Operation Gotham Shield 2017
On April 18th thru May 5th, 2017, state, local, and federal organizations alike are planning for Operation Gotham Shield 2017 — a major nuclear detonation drill in the New York-New Jersey area, along with the U.S.-Canadian border. During this exercise, 4 nuclear devices, 2 of which are rendered “safe” during the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Vital Archer Exercise, and one successful 10kt detonation in the NYC/NJ area, along with one smaller detonation on the U.S./Canadian border are to take place.

4/21/17

On April 18th thru May 5th, 2017, state, local, and federal organizations alike are planning for Operation Gotham Shield 2017, simulating a nuclear attack on the East coast

EDITOR’S NOTE: Before you simply roll your eyes and say ‘conspiracy theory nuts’, remember the following tidbits of information. On the morning of September 11, 2001, the United States government was running military exercises to simulate attacks on the World Trade Center using commercial planes. On July 7, 2005, the British government was running military preparedness exercises simulating terrorists setting off bombs in the London Metro. Amazing coincidences, aren’t they? Predictably Snopes has already issued their “nothing to see here” response and Google predictably has made sure it’s the first link you see when you do a search for ‘Operation Gotham Shield‘. After having had so much practice with deception, all the key players now operate as a very well-oiled machine. Please see link at the bottom of this article to read the official PDF from the DOE and the NNSA on the planned exercise.

A general alert is out for something major in the near or immediate future. Hopefully, it is just another false alarm, instead of another false flag. Either way, and danger is at hand. Given all that is going on in the world, it is downright eerie to discover that the federal government is once again staging mock disasters that draw disturbing parallels with current world events.
In just a few days, during April 24-26th, Operation Gotham Shield will commence:

It is a tabletop, joint agency exercise involving FEMA, Homeland Security and a myriad of law enforcement and military agencies. WMD, chemical and biological units will all be on hand as a response is tested for a “simulated” nuclear detonation over the United States’ foremost urban center, in the iconic and densely populated island of Manhattan and nearby shores of New Jersey.

The potential for a more explosive false flag to spin out of control, by hijacking and ‘converting’ the simulated actions, is all too real.

Now U.S. government threatens to take all your cash

In the name of fighting terrorism financing, a new U.S. Senate bill threatens to force private corporations to monitor your financial activity and empowers government to seize all your assets if you fail to comply with the new law.

Even failure to fill out one form is license for the federal government to take everything you have.

Sponsored by Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., Senate Bill 1241, “Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and Counterfeiting Act of 2017,” was introduced last month and represents what some financial experts say is a new assault on cash and digital currencies.

Proponents say it’s needed to fight criminal and terrorist money laundering efforts, yet the banking institutions that will be given orders to look for evidence are themselves the primary architects of the schemes that make this activity profitable on a massive scale.

“If the bill becomes law, Americans would be subject to a whole host of government intrusions. One little slip-up would open a Pandora’s box of governmental inquiry into your financial life,” says Peter Reagan, a financial-market strategist at Birch Gold Group. “For example, failing to complete a single reporting form would result in the government being granted abilities to freeze and seize not just a portion, but the entirety, of your assets. The bill even goes so far as to include the contents of safety-deposit boxes.”

What do YOU think? Does Senate bill allowing seizure of all your assets have a chance? Sound off in the WND Poll!

As the bill stands today, precious-metals holdings are not covered under the required declarations. Most other ‘monetary instruments’ would be locked down tight.

“The war on cash and financial autonomy has been underway for some time,” says Reagan. “But this bill would solidify a serious loss of freedom we’ve been fearing for years.”

Because fighting “terrorism” is one of the purposes of the legislation, it allows any business with government ties to act as a de facto arm of the Department of Homeland Security to take your monetary assets, including Bitcoin and so-called “crypto-currencies.”

Claire Bernish, an independent investigative reporter, says the bill would impose “autocratic financial controls in an attempt to ensure none of your assets can escape one of the state’s most nefarious, despised powers: civil forfeiture.”

“Civil forfeiture grants the government robbery writ large: your cash, property, and assets can be stolen completely sans due process, your guilt – frequently pertaining to drug ‘crimes’ – matters not,” Bernish says. “A court verdict of not guilty doesn’t even guarantee the return of state-thefted property.”

Like the reporting you see here? Sign up for free news alerts from WND.com, America’s independent news network.

She says the bill also severely curtails the right to travel freely with more than $10,000 in cash. To do so, a citizen will need to file a report with the U.S. government. Other assets that would be at risk for violations of the law include bank accounts, prepaid cards, gift cars, prepaid phones and prepaid coupons. Violators face prison terms of 10 years.

“And if that weren’t enough, this bill also gives them with new authority to engage in surveillance and wiretapping (including phone, email, etc.) if they have even a hint of suspicion that you might be transporting excess ‘monetary instruments,'” reports Simon Black of SovereignMan.com. “Usually wiretapping authority is reserved for major crimes like kidnapping, human trafficking, felony fraud, etc. Now we can add cash to that list.”

http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/massive-global-cyberattack-petya-virus-hits-computers-america-russia-across-europe/
Massive Global Cyberattack With Petya Virus Hits Computers From America To Russia And All Across Europe
Researchers at the computer security company Symantec said the new attack was using the same hacking tool created by the National Security Agency that was used in the WannaCry attacks. Called Eternal Blue, the tool was among dozens leaked online last April by a group known as the Shadow Brokers. The N.S.A. has not acknowledged its tools were used in WannaCry or other attacks.

6/27/17

Computer experts were calling it the Petya virus, and said that it was similar to the WannaCry attack, which spread quickly across much of Asia and Europe. Others cautioned, however, that it could be yet another type of ransomware.

EDITOR’S NOTE: These nasty, ugly and crippling ransomware viruses are transmitted largely via email attachments. When you click on them, it activates the virus lurking in the attachment. If you are not sure who is sending you the email do not click on any of the attachments inside it. Always look at the sender’s full email address before deciding to click on it. Oftentimes the emails will say it’s from a well-known company like Amazon, but the return email address will say something different.

“We are urgently responding to reports of another major ransomware attack on businesses in Europe,” Rob Wainwright, executive director of Europol, Europe’s police agency, said on Twitter.

At least nine European countries had been targeted in the latest attack, said Dan Smith, an information security researcher at Radware, a cybersecurity firm. “I first saw reports of this attack around 8 a.m. Eastern time coming from Ukraine, but it’s too early to tell who’s behind this,” Mr. Smith said.

The vulnerability used by Eternal Blue was patched by Microsoft last April, but as the WannaCry attacks demonstrated, hundreds of thousands of organizations around the world failed to properly install the patch. But researchers at F-Secure, the Finnish cybersecurity firm, also noted that the ransomware used at least two other vectors to spread, beyond Eternal Blue, which suggests even those who used the Microsoft patch could be vulnerable.
Nasty Petya virus ransomware spreading fast:

“Just because you roll out a patch doesn’t mean it’ll be put in place quickly,” said Carl Herberger, vice president of security at Radware. “The more bureaucratic an organization is, the higher chance it won’t have updated its software.”

Immediate reports that the computer virus was a variant of Petya suggest the attackers will be hard to trace. Petya was for sale on the so-called dark web, where its creators made the ransomware available as “ransomware as a service” — a play on Silicon Valley terminology for delivering software over the internet, according to the security firm Avast Threat Labs.

That means anyone can launch the ransomware with the click of a button, encrypt someone’s systems and demand a ransom to unlock it. If the victim pays, the authors of the Petya ransomware, who call themselves Janus Cybercrime Solutions, get a cut of the payment.

That distribution model means that pinning down the individuals responsible for Tuesday’s attack could be difficult, if nearly impossible.

The attack is actually “an improved and more lethal version of WannaCry,” according to Matthieu Suiche, a security researcher who helped contain the spread of the WannaCry ransomware last month when he created a so-called kill switch that stopped the attacks from spreading.
Over just the past seven days, Mr. Suiche noted that WannaCry had attempted to hit an additional 80,000 organizations, but was prevented from executing attack code because of the kill switch.

On Tuesday, Mr. Suiche said there was no kill switch for the Petya attacks. The Petya attacks could be worse than WannaCry, said Chris Hinkley, a researcher at Armor, the security firm, because these attacks encrypt and lock entire hard drives, while the earlier ransomware attacks locked only individual files.

But researchers at the security company Kaspersky Labs questioned whether the attack was something other than what has been described as the Petya attacks. The company’s data indicates around 2,000 users have been attacked so far.

In Ukraine, the Infrastructure Ministry, the postal service, the national railway company, and one of the country’s largest communications companies, Ukrtelecom, have been affected, Volodymyr Omelyan, the country’s infrastructure minister, said in a Facebook post.

Officials for the metro system in Kiev, the country’s capital, said card payments could not be accepted at the moment because of the attack. The national power grid company Kievenergo had to switch off all of its computers because of the attack, but the situation was under control, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency. Metro Group, a German company that runs wholesale food stores, said its operations in Ukraine had been affected, and that it was “analyzing the possible effects.”

Computer systems at the Chernobyl nuclear plant were also shut down. The computers collected data on radiation levels, and were not connected to industrial systems at the site, where, though all reactors have been decommissioned, huge volumes of radioactive waste remain. Operators said radiation monitoring was being done manually.
In Russia, Home Credit bank, one of the country’s top 50 lenders, was paralyzed, with all of its offices closed, according to the RBC news website.

“All offices can only offer consultations to clients, no banking operations are now possible,” said Artyom Moskvin, a bank teller at Home Credit’s central office in Moscow, though he denied the situation was connected to the hacking attack. “The bank is currently checking its security systems. Everything should go back to normal tomorrow.”

The attack also affected Evraz, a steel manufacturing and mining company that employs around 80,000 people, the RBC website reported.

A spokeswoman for Maersk confirmed that computer systems were down because of the attack. She said the company had been hit across different business units and sites, but declined to confirm Spanish media reports that Maersk’s operations at Spanish ports, including Algeciras and Valencia, were shut down by the attack.

Analysts have been warning that hackers are increasingly likely to use such ransomware attacks to gain access to people’s computers, both in a bid to cause major global disruption and for financial gain.

That was the case with the recent WannaCry computer virus, which attacked networks at hospitals in the United Kingdom, automakers’ production facilities and German train stations. The recent attacks appear to evade popular antivirus software. In a test of 61 antivirus solutions, only four successfully identified the ransomware. source

‘It will combat crime’: Robocop cars join Dubai’s futuristic police force (VIDEO)
Published time: 1 Jul, 2017 23:43

United Arab Emirates policing is entering an even more advanced futuristic phase, after the city of Dubai signed a deal that will see mini, self-driving cop cars deployed to fight street crime.

Dubai has already experimented with android policing, with the deployment of its first robotic officer of the law in May.

Now an agreement has been reached by UAE vice president Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and a Singapore firm over an autonomous security vehicle known as O-R3.

OTSAW in Dubai. We cannot thank @DubaiPoliceHQ enough for their hospitality! Watch highlights of the partnership signing below #SmartCitypic.twitter.com/UnnyHHscKy
— OTSAW Digital (@OTSAWDigital) June 30, 2017

The sleek robot by Otsaw Digital has four wheels and can navigate its surroundings using a series of sensors attached to its bodywork.

According to its makers, the O-R3 comes equipped with a range of cameras that will enable it to carry out “facial and license plate recognition.”

When faced with an obstacle that it cannot overcome, the O-R3 also has the ability to send out a surveillance drone in order to keep tabs on a fleeing suspect, footage of the vehicle reveals.

Meanwhile, human monitors have the ability to take over control of the robot from a centralized location.

BREAKING: Google Execs Exposed Breaking Code Of Conduct Used To Fire Conservative Employee!

Google executives have been exposed breaking the same code of conduct they used to fire James Damore for authoring a conservative in-company memo.

From Gotnews:

Did it violate Google’s Code of Conduct when Larry Page, Sergei Brin, and Eric Schmidt dated women who were their subordinates at the company?

Then Google-CEO Page dated Marissa Mayer during her early days at Google, as Business Insider reports:

…Down went Google.com.

Google went back online that day, but only after hours of work from Mayer, Silverstein, and her new colleagues. She went home at 3 a.m.

Perhaps because of long nights like that one, Mayer and Page eventually grew very close. At one point during Mayer’s early years at Google, she and Page started dating.

PARANOID ANDROIDHow Google is secretly recording YOU through your mobile, monitoring millions of conversations every day and storing the creepy audio files

You may have accidentally triggered the listening device - allowing it to record incriminating convos and steamy gossip

DID you know that Google has been recording you without your knowledge?

The technology giant has effectively turned millions of its users' smartphones into listening devices that can capture intimate conversations - even when they aren't in the room.

If you own an Android phone, it's likely that you've used Google's Assistant, which is similar to Apple's Siri.

Google says it only turns on and begins recording when you utter the words "OK Google".

But a Sun investigation has found that the virtual assistant is a little hard of hearing.

In some cases, just saying "OK" in conversation prompted it to switch on your phone and record around 20 seconds of audio.

It regularly switches on the microphone as you go about your day-to-day activities, none the wiser.

http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/google-youtube-threatening-conservative-sites-demonetization-dont-remove-offensive-content/
Google And YouTube Threatening Conservative Sites With Demonetization If They Don’t Remove “Offensive” Content
Google and YouTube have decided to take their game to the next level - demonetizing websites by restricting AdSense code and demonetizing videos on YouTube that promote a Conservative and/or Christian worldview.

by Geoffrey Grider September 1, 2017
Barry Lynn, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation — a think tank funded by Google — says he lost his job this week as a result of his research critical of Google, which Lynn says should be considered a monopoly.

As everyone knows by now, Google and its video arm YouTube control search engine results around the globe. As you may also know, Google and its various alphabet subsidiaries are screaming Liberals who seek to drive the Alt-Left agenda. Eric Schmidt worked on Hillary’s doomed campaign, providing Google’s search engine dominance to suppress Conservative stories and push Liberal articles to the top.

Now, they have decided to take their game to the next level – demonetizing websites by restricting AdSense code and demonetizing videos on YouTube that promote a Conservative and/or Christian worldview.
PROOF: Youtube Restricting Conservative Videos

On Tuesday evening, Google sent a conservative website an ultimatum: remove one of your articles, or lose the ability to make ad revenue on your website. The website was strong-armed into removing the content, and then warned that the page was “just an example and that the same violations may exist on other pages of this website.”

“Yesterday morning, we received a very bizarre letter from Google issuing us an ultimatum,” Shane Trejo, media relations director of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Michigan, wrote on The Liberty Conservative. “Either we were to remove a particular article or see all of our ad revenues choked off in an instant. This is the newest method that Big Brother is using to enforce thought control.”

The ultimatum came in the form of an email from Google’s ad placement service AdSense. The email specifically listed an article on The Liberty Conservative’s site, stating that the article violated AdSense’s policies.
Anti-corporate voices across the ideological spectrum are claiming that Google is attempting to silence them for their political positions.

Barry Lynn, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation — a think tank funded by Google — says he lost his job this week as a result of his research critical of Google, which Lynn says should be considered a monopoly.

“Every day I see people waking up to the power of Google, Facebook and Amazon. We have to do something as a people, we have to do something through our government and address the power of these companies,” Lynn told The Guardian. “The number of congressmen and others making statements on Capitol Hill about this is growing very rapidly. The number of businesses who are saying that something must be done about the power of these companies and the way they use their power.”

I think you can see where all this is going. Google plans in exerting its monopolistic dominance over search engine results and all those who don’t “play ball” will find their Internet traffic stream drying up to a standstill.

Remember when the professing Left used to be a champion of free speech for all? Those days are gone. Now it’s the Alt-Left who are in power, and they seek to impose their fascist ideology on everyone else.

http://truthfeednews.com/new-a-i-can-correctly-tell-if-someone-is-gay-or-straight-based-on-a-facial-scan/

New A.I. Can Correctly Tell if Someone is Gay or Straight Based on a Facial Scan
Culture By truthfeednews September 9, 2017

For decades some humans have claimed to have a better “gaydar” than others.

However, now it’s become clear that just like machines have eclipsed humans in playing “Jeopardy,” they have also eclipsed them in determining based on looks alone, who is gay and who is straight.

From TheGuardian

Artificial intelligence can accurately guess whether people are gay or straight based on photos of their faces, according to new research that suggests machines can have significantly better “gaydar” than humans.

The study from Stanford University – which found that a computer algorithm could correctly distinguish between gay and straight men 81% of the time, and 74% for women – has raised questions about the biological origins of sexual orientation, the ethics of facial-detection technology, and the potential for this kind of software to violate people’s privacy or be abused for anti-LGBT purposes.

The machine intelligence tested in the research, which was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and first reported in the Economist, was based on a sample of more than 35,000 facial images that men and women publicly posted on a US dating website. The researchers, Michal Kosinski and Yilun Wang, extracted features from the images using “deep neural networks”, meaning a sophisticated mathematical system that learns to analyze visuals based on a large dataset.

The research found that gay men and women tended to have “gender-atypical” features, expressions and “grooming styles”, essentially meaning gay men appeared more feminine and vice versa. The data also identified certain trends, including that gay men had narrower jaws, longer noses and larger foreheads than straight men, and that gay women had larger jaws and smaller foreheads compared to straight women.

Human judges performed much worse than the algorithm, accurately identifying orientation only 61% of the time for men and 54% for women. When the software reviewed five images per person, it was even more successful – 91% of the time with men and 83% with women. Broadly, that means “faces contain much more information about sexual orientation than can be perceived and interpreted by the human brain”, the authors wrote.

The paper suggested that the findings provide “strong support” for the theory that sexual orientation stems from exposure to certain hormones before birth, meaning people are born gay and being queer is not a choice. The machine’s lower success rate for women also could support the notion that female sexual orientation is more fluid.

While the findings have clear limits when it comes to gender and sexuality – people of color were not included in the study, and there was no consideration of transgender or bisexual people – the implications for artificial intelligence (AI) are vast and alarming. With billions of facial images of people stored on social media sites and in government databases, the researchers suggested that public data could be used to detect people’s sexual orientation without their consent.

It’s easy to imagine spouses using the technology on partners they suspect are closeted, or teenagers using the algorithm on themselves or their peers. More frighteningly, governments that continue to prosecute LGBT people could hypothetically use the technology to out and target populations. That means building this kind of software and publicizing it is itself controversial given concerns that it could encourage harmful applications.

But the authors argued that the technology already exists, and its capabilities are important to expose so that governments and companies can proactively consider privacy risks and the need for safeguards and regulations.

“It’s certainly unsettling. Like any new tool, if it gets into the wrong hands, it can be used for ill purposes,” said Nick Rule, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, who has published research on the science of gaydar. “If you can start profiling people based on their appearance, then identifying them and doing horrible things to them, that’s really bad.”

Digital Billboards Will Record Make And Model Of Your Car To Deliver Personalized Ads As You Drive Past
A series of factors are reshaping the quintessential experience of the road trip or job commute. Smart billboards are already here, gracing the sides of bus shelters, urban interstates and pedestrian walkways. And as the digital billboards grow in size and number — rotating ads, customizing them to passing traffic and earning far more income — old-fashioned billboards face an existential moment.

9/20/17

Here is what’s around the corner: Smart digital billboards will detect the make, model and year of oncoming vehicles and project ads tailored to the motorist.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This is like the third or fourth story we’ve done today showing the ultra-aggressive incursion of smart technology into our daily lives. Nest Home Climate Systems, smart TVs, coffeemakers with RFID chips, phones with facial recognition and the list goes on and on. Every moment of every part of our lives is being observed, recorded, digitized and analyzed. That One World System that everyone feared 20 years ago is now the same system being embraced by everyone.

Roadside cameras will read license plates, and powerful computers will make snap judgments based on likely home address, age, race and income level to pitch products or services through the billboards.

Once ads flash up on roadside digital screens, the sales pitch may not stop. Any mobile phones in a passing vehicle may light up with a reinforcing message linked to the ad.

Breaking: It's Happening!! They Just Branded The Electoral College A National Security Threat
9/20/17

Media Organization Politico has branded the American electoral college as threat to national security and are advocating for it to be abolished.

Dailycaller reported: The American electoral college system should be abolished because it provides foreign nations with the opportunity to influence the outcomes of U.S. presidential elections, according to Politico.

The authors used Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist No. 68 to explain the Founding Fathers’ theory that the U.S. electoral college would protect the nation from “the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils.”

The story further argued that Hamilton and the other American forefathers could not have imagined, or prepared for, an election like 2016, thereby bolstering the claim that Russia “was able to manipulate America’s election process with stunning effectiveness.”

“But it’s clear the national security rationale for the Electoral College is outdated and therefore it should be retired. Simply put, it enables foreign powers to more easily pierce the very shield Hamilton imagined it would be,” authors Matthew Olsen and Benjamin Haas wrote.

Man Who Created The Facebook ‘Like’ Button Now Warns Your Mind Can Be ‘Hijacked’ Through Social Media
In 2007, Rosenstein was one of a small group of Facebook employees who decided to create a path of least resistance – a single click – to “send little bits of positivity” across the platform. Facebook’s “like” feature was, Rosenstein says, “wildly” successful: engagement soared as people enjoyed the short-term boost they got from giving or receiving social affirmation, while Facebook harvested valuable data about the preferences of users that could be sold to advertisers. The idea was soon copied by Twitter, with its heart-shaped “likes” (previously star-shaped “favourites”), Instagram, and countless other apps and websites.

Justin Rosenstein had tweaked his laptop’s operating system to block Reddit, banned himself from Snapchat, which he compares to heroin, and imposed limits on his use of Facebook. But even that wasn’t enough.

“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” Revelation 13:15 (KJV)

EDITOR’S NOTE: It’s very interesting to understand that the very people who created the highly-addictive ‘like’ system have now installed extensions on their devices to block those same features from being active. What does that tell you about how enslaving social media can be? Just imagine how it will be in a few years when AI is fully rolled out, and the devices are doing our thinking for us. The “brave new world’ is a very scary place to be, and I honestly don’t think any of us really know what we’re playing with.

In August, the 34-year-old tech executive took a more radical step to restrict his use of social media and other addictive technologies. Rosenstein purchased a new iPhone and instructed his assistant to set up a parental-control feature to prevent him from downloading any apps.

He was particularly aware of the allure of Facebook “likes”, which he describes as “bright dings of pseudo-pleasure” that can be as hollow as they are seductive. And Rosenstein should know: he was the Facebook engineer who created the “like” button in the first place.

A decade after he stayed up all night coding a prototype of what was then called an “awesome” button, Rosenstein belongs to a small but growing band of Silicon Valley heretics who complain about the rise of the so-called “attention economy”: an internet shaped around the demands of an advertising economy.

These refuseniks are rarely founders or chief executives, who have little incentive to deviate from the mantra that their companies are making the world a better place. Instead, they tend to have worked a rung or two down the corporate ladder: designers, engineers and product managers who, like Rosenstein, several years ago put in place the building blocks of a digital world from which they are now trying to disentangle themselves. “It is very common,” Rosenstein says, “for humans to develop things with the best of intentions and for them to have unintended, negative consequences.”

Rosenstein, who also helped create Gchat during a stint at Google, and now leads a San Francisco-based company that improves office productivity, appears most concerned about the psychological effects on people who, research shows, touch, swipe or tap their phone 2,617 times a day.

There is growing concern that as well as addicting users, technology is contributing toward so-called “continuous partial attention”, severely limiting people’s ability to focus, and possibly lowering IQ. One recent study showed that the mere presence of smartphones damages cognitive capacity – even when the device is turned off. “Everyone is distracted,” Rosenstein says. “All of the time.”
But those concerns are trivial compared with the devastating impact upon the political system that some of Rosenstein’s peers believe can be attributed to the rise of social media and the attention-based market that drives it.

Drawing a straight line between addiction to social media and political earthquakes like Brexit and the rise of Donald Trump, they contend that digital forces have completely upended the political system and, left unchecked, could even render democracy as we know it obsolete.

It was Rosenstein’s colleague, Leah Pearlman, then a product manager at Facebook and on the team that created the Facebook “like”, who announced the feature in a 2009 blogpost. Now 35 and an illustrator, Pearlman confirmed via email that she, too, has grown disaffected with Facebook “likes” and other addictive feedback loops. She has installed a web browser plug-in to eradicate her Facebook news feed, and hired a social media manager to monitor her Facebook page so that she doesn’t have to.

“One reason I think it is particularly important for us to talk about this now is that we may be the last generation that can remember life before,” Rosenstein says. It may or may not be relevant that Rosenstein, Pearlman and most of the tech insiders questioning today’s attention economy are in their 30s, members of the last generation that can remember a world in which telephones were plugged into walls.

It is revealing that many of these younger technologists are weaning themselves off their own products, sending their children to elite Silicon Valley schools where iPhones, iPads and even laptops are banned. They appear to be abiding by a Biggie Smalls lyric from their own youth about the perils of dealing crack ****: never get high on your own supply.

One morning in April this year, designers, programmers and tech entrepreneurs from across the world gathered at a conference centre on the shore of the San Francisco Bay. They had each paid up to $1,700 to learn how to manipulate people into habitual use of their products, on a course curated by conference organiser Nir Eyal.

Eyal, 39, the author of Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products, has spent several years consulting for the tech industry, teaching techniques he developed by closely studying how the Silicon Valley giants operate.

“The technologies we use have turned into compulsions, if not full-fledged addictions,” Eyal writes. “It’s the impulse to check a message notification. It’s the pull to visit YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter for just a few minutes, only to find yourself still tapping and scrolling an hour later.” None of this is an accident, he writes. It is all “just as their designers intended”.

He explains the subtle psychological tricks that can be used to make people develop habits, such as varying the rewards people receive to create “a craving”, or exploiting negative emotions that can act as “triggers”. “Feelings of boredom, loneliness, frustration, confusion and indecisiveness often instigate a slight pain or irritation and prompt an almost instantaneous and often mindless action to quell the negative sensation,” Eyal writes.

Less than 5 minutes after posting this story on social media, Facebook banned me for 6 days in retaliation for daring to expose them.

Attendees of the 2017 Habit Summit might have been surprised when Eyal walked on stage to announce that this year’s keynote speech was about “something a little different”. He wanted to address the growing concern that technological manipulation was somehow harmful or immoral. He told his audience that they should be careful not to abuse persuasive design, and wary of crossing a line into coercion.

But he was defensive of the techniques he teaches, and dismissive of those who compare tech addiction to drugs. “We’re not freebasing Facebook and injecting Instagram here,” he said. He flashed up a slide of a shelf filled with sugary baked goods. “Just as we shouldn’t blame the baker for making such delicious treats, we can’t blame tech makers for making their products so good we want to use them,” he said. “Of course that’s what tech companies will do. And frankly: do we want it any other way?”

Without irony, Eyal finished his talk with some personal tips for resisting the lure of technology. He told his audience he uses a Chrome extension, called DF YouTube, “which scrubs out a lot of those external triggers” he writes about in his book, and recommended an app called Pocket Points that “rewards you for staying off your phone when you need to focus”.

Finally, Eyal confided the lengths he goes to protect his own family. He has installed in his house an outlet timer connected to a router that cuts off access to the internet at a set time every day. “The idea is to remember that we are not powerless,” he said. “We are in control.”

But are we? If the people who built these technologies are taking such radical steps to wean themselves free, can the rest of us reasonably be expected to exercise our free will?

Not according to Tristan Harris, a 33-year-old former Google employee turned vocal critic of the tech industry. “All of us are jacked into this system,” he says. “All of our minds can be hijacked. Our choices are not as free as we think they are.” source
