Evolution-Deniers ‘Hold Everybody Back,‘ Harm Children’s Education & Hold Views That Will Eventually Be Extinct

For starters Bill, lying evolutionists have been saying that for years before you came along, and you know what? Almost all of them that have looked at the evidence became saved. You should try it some time instead of lying to the kids.

Bill Nye was once beloved for being America’s brightest and most energetic “science guy.” However, the former children’s show host (“Bill Nye the Science Guy” aired from 1993 until 1998) is entering more contentious ground of late, as he recently jumped into the political realm to intensely support President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

But, politics isn’t his only area of interest these days. Last week, the famed scientist lashed out against champions of creationism. In a new video for Big Think, an online educational forum, Nye claims that evolution deniers are damaging children and harming scientific progress
The video, which was posted last Thursday, has already been viewed more than one million times. Entitled, “Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children,” the clip holds little back when it comes to the scientist’s views on evolutionary denial. In the video, Nye takes particular issue with the fact that America is the only nation in which creationism is so widely embraced.

“Denial of evolution is unique to the United States,” he said. “People still move to the United States. And that’s largely because of the intellectual capital we have, the general understanding of science.”

His qualms with individuals who don’t embrace the notion that human beings evolved goes well beyond mere theological and scientific disagreement. Nye believes that those who tout creationism are actually doing damage to scientific progression.

When you have a portion of the population that doesn’t believe in that, it holds everybody back, really,” he said, going on to say that it’s difficult to make sense of life and to attain the proper answers if one denies the scientific theory. ”Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science — in all of biology.”

Nye went on to plead with parents — even those who “deny evolution” and live in a “world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe” — to properly educate their children.

“We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We need people that can — we need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems,” he added.

"In another couple centuries that worldview, I’m sure…just won’t exist,” Nye concluded. “There’s no evidence for it.”

As noted, Nye has been speaking out fervently for President Obama’s re-election campaign and, as Inquisitr has noted, he’s been stumping for him.

Do Any Scientists Believe the Bible?

High Schools, colleges, and universities typically teach only
one theory of origins, that being evolution, and they are often
given the idea that no true scientist today is a creationist.
Richard Dawkins says in his book The Greatest Show in
Earth:
“Evolution is a fact. Beyond reasonable doubt, beyond
serious doubt, beyond sane, informed, intelligent doubt,
beyond doubt evolution is a fact. ... Evolution is a fact, and
[my] book will demonstrate it. No reputable scientist
disputes it, and no unbiased reader will close the book
doubting it.”

Dawkins has written very foolishly. According to Dawkins, if
you reject evolution, you are unintelligent and your sanity
should be questioned, and he proclaims that no reputable
scientist disputes it.

In fact, modern science was invented by men who believed
in divine creation. In his book Refuting Evolution,
JONATHAN SARFATI, who has a Ph.D. in physical
chemistry from Victoria University in Wellington, New
Zealand, says:
“It is fallacious to claim, as many evolutionists do, that
believing in miracles means that laboratory science would
be impossible. In fact, most branches of modern science
were founded by believers in the Bible’s account of
creation.”

Consider some examples:
• Physics -- Newton, Faraday, Maxwell, Kelvin, Joule
• Chemistry - Boyle, Dalton, Ramsay
• Biology - Ray, Linnaeus, Mendel, Pasteur, Virchow,
Agassiz
• Geology - Steno, Woodward, Brewster, Buckland, Cuvier
• Astronomy - Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Herschel,
Maunder
• Mathematics - Pascal, Leibniz, Euler

Dr. Sarfati continues:
“Even today, many scientists reject evolution. The Creation
Ministries International staff scientists have published many
scientific papers in their own fields. DR. RUSSELL
HUMPHREYS, a nuclear physicist working with Sandia
National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has had
over 20 articles published in physics journals, while DR.
JOHN BAUMGARDNER’S catastrophic plate tectonics
theory was reported in Nature magazine. DR. EDWARD
BOUDREAUX of the University of New Orleans has
published 26 articles and four books in physical chemistry.
DR. MACIEJ GIERTYCH, head of the Department of
Genetics at the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish
Academy of Sciences, has published 90 papers in scientific
journals. DR. RAYMOND JONES was described as one of
Australia’s top scientists for his discoveries about the
legume Leucaena and bacterial symbiosis with grazing
animals, worth millions of dollars per year to Australia. DR.
BRIAN STONE has won a record number of awards for
excellence in engineering teaching at Australian
universities” (Jonathan Sarfati, Refuting Evolution, 2007, pp.
26-28).

In 1979, Science Digest reported that “scientists who utterly
reject Evolution may be one of our fastest-growing
controversial minorities. ... Many of the scientists supporting
this position hold impressive credentials in science” (Larry
Hatfield, “Educators Against Darwin,” Science Digest
Special, Winter 1979, pp. 94-96).

DUANE GISH, Ph.D. in biochemistry, worked for many
years in pharmaceutical research at Cornell University, the
University of California, and the Upjohn Company. “As a
biochemist, he has synthesized peptides, compounds
intermediate between amino acids and proteins. He has been
co-author of a number of outstanding publications in peptide
chemistry.” Gish lists the following scientists who reject
evolution and believe in creationism.

“While it is true that creationists among scientists definitely
constitute a minority, there are many creation scientists, and
their number is growing. Among these may be numbered
such well-established scientists as the late DR. W. R.
THOMPSON, world-famous biologist and former Director of
the Commonwealth Institute of Biological Control of
Canada; DR. MELVIN A. COOK, winner of the 1968 E. G.
Murphee Award in Industrial and Engineering Chemistry
from the American Chemical Society and also winner of the
Nobel Nitro Award, now president of the Ireco Chemical
Company, Salt Lake City; DR. HENRY M. MORRIS, for
thirteen years Professor of Hydraulic Engineering and Head
of the Civil Engineering Department of Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and University, one of the largest in the U.S. DR.
WALTER LAMMERTS, geneticist and famous plant
breeder, the late DR. FRANK MARSH, Professor of Biology
at Andrews University until his retirement; the late DR. J.J.
DUYVENE DE WIT, Professor of Zoology at the University
of the Orange Free State, South Africa, at the time of his
death; DR. THOMAS G. BARNES, Professor Emeritus of
Physics at the University of Texas at El Paso; DR. DMITRI
KOUZNETSOV, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., winner of the
Komosmol Lenin Prize in 1983 as one of the two most
promising young scientists in the Soviet Union, and winner
of the Council of Ministries Prize of the USSR in 1986 for
his research in biochemistry” (Evolution: The Fossils Still
Say No, 1995, pp. 13, 14).

A.E. WILDER-SMITH (1915-1995), who defended
creationism against evolution in his many books, had three
Ph.D.s, one in physical organic chemistry from Reading
University, England, one in pharmacology from the
University of Geneva, and one in pharmacological sciences
from ETH, a senior university in Zurich, Switzerland. A
Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a NATO threestar
general, Dr. Wilder-Smith was an expert on
chemotherapy, pharmacology, organic chemistry, and
biochemistry.

RAYMOND DAMADIAN, M.D., biophysicist, is the
recipient of the Lemelson-MIT Achievement Award as “the
man who invented the MRI scanner.” In 1988 he was
awarded the National Medal of Technology, America’s
highest award for applied science, and a year later, he was
inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame, an honor he shares
with Thomas Edison, Samuel Morse, and the Wright
Brothers. The first MRI scanner that Dr. Damadian and his
colleagues built in 1977 resides at the Smithsonian
Institution in Washington, D.C. Damadian is a Biblebelieving
Christian and attends a Baptist church. He has
stated that “the highest purpose a man can find for his life is
to serve the will of God.”

RICHARD LUMSDEN (1938-97), Ph.D., converted from
Darwinian atheist to Bible-believing Christian at the apex of
his professional career when, challenged by one of his
students, he decided to check out the evidence for himself. A
professor of parisitology and cell biology, he was dean of the
graduate school at Tulane University. He trained 30 Ph.D.s.,
published hundreds of scholarly papers, and was the winner
of the highest award for parasitology.

LEE SPETNER, author of Not By Chance: Shattering the
Modern Theory of Evolution, has a Ph.D. in physics from
MIT. He was a researcher with John Hopkins University
from 1951-1970.

JERRY BERGMAN, co-author of the book Persuaded by
the Evidence, has five Masters degrees and two Ph.D.s, one
in human biology and another in measurement and
evaluation. He had a 4.0 grade point average for both Ph.D.s.

The CREATION RESEARCH SOCIETY membership
consists of more than 600 men and women who hold
advanced degrees and are committed to biblical creationism.

The KOREA ASSOCIATION OF CREATION
RESEARCH membership includes 450 scientists, 150 of
them with Ph.D.s in the sciences. The President of KACR,
YOUNG-GIL KIM, Ph.D. in Materials Science, is with the
Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and is
the inventor of various important high-tech alloys.

FRANK MARSH has a Ph.D. in biology and is emeritus
Professor of Biology at Andrews University. He is the author
of “Variation and Fixity in Nature: The Meaning of Diversity
and Discontinuity in the World of Living Things, and Their
Bearing on Creation and Evolution.”

JOSEPH MASTROPAOLO, who has a Ph.D. in
kinesiology from the University of Iowa, has taught
biomechanics and physiology at the University of Chicago
and California State University. He holds the patent for crew
conditioning for extended manned space missions.
The speaking staff of ANSWERS IN GENESIS includes 10
men and women who have earned doctorates. DAVID
DEWITT has a Ph.D. in neuroscience. DONALD
DEYOUNG has a Ph.D. in physics. JASON LISLE has a
Ph.D. in astrophysics. DAVID MENTON has a Ph.D. in cell
biology from Brown University. TOMMY MITCHELL has
an M.D. from Vanderbilt University. TERRY
MORTENSON has a Ph.D. in the history of geology.
GARY PARKER has a doctorate in education in biology/
geology. GEORGIA PURDOM has a Ph.D. in molecular
genetics. ANDREW SNELLING has a Ph.D. in geology
from the University of Sydney.

The book In Six Days, edited by John Ashton, contains the
testimonies of 50 scientists with doctorates who believe in
the Bible’s account of creation. These include JEREMY I.
WALTER, Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from
Pennsylvania State University; JOHN KRAMER, Ph.D. in
biochemistry from the University of Minnesota; PAUL
GIEM, M.D. from Loma Linda University; ARIEL ROTH,

the Technical University at Hanover; DON BATTEN, Ph.D.
in plant physiology from the University of Sydney.

Of course, even if every “reputable” scientist believed in
evolution, as Richard Dawkins claims, this would not mean
it is correct. The Bible says, “Let God be true, but every man
a liar” (Romans 3:4), and Jesus said, “I thank thee, O Father,
Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things
from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto
babes” (Matthew 11:25).

In 1778 the French infidel Voltaire boasted that in 100 years
Christianity would cease to exist, but within 50 years the
Geneva Bible Society used his press and house to publish
Bibles (Geisler and Nix, A General Introduction to the Bible,
1986, pp. 123, 124).

Robert Ingersoll once boasted, “Within 15 years I’ll have the
Bible lodged in a morgue.” But Ingersoll is dead, and the
Bible is alive and well.

just saying... Im guessing Bill Nye the LYING guy will be dead in his sins, and the Bible will still be here.

‘Science Guy’ Bill Nye and Prominent Christian Set to Battle It Out Over Evolution and Creationism

Scientist Bill Nye has agreed to debate Christian leader Ken Ham next month at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., where the two will face off over the ever-contentious topics of evolution and creationism.

According to a release published on AnswersInGenesis.org, the website for Ham’s organization, the event will begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2014 inside the museum’s 900-seat Legacy Hall.

The two will dialogue on an agreed upon topic: “Is creation a viable model of origins in today’s modern scientific world?”

Ham said that he’s looking forward to the debate — one that he believes will help shed light on how young people are being educated; Nye once had a popular kids’ show called “Bill Nye the Science Guy” and has made comments touting the importance of evolution in children’s education.

“This year, our AiG theme is ‘Standing Our Ground, Rescuing Our Kids,” Ham said. “Having the opportunity to hold a cordial but spirited debate with such a well-known personality who is admired by so many young people will help bring the creation/evolution issue to the attention of many more people, including youngsters.”

The creationist leader is hoping he can show Nye and the debate audience that Genesis — and not evolution — provides an accurate creation account.

Tickets, which will cost $25, will go on sale starting Jan. 6.

In the past, Ham and others from his organization have responded to Nye’s negative claims about creationism.

Consider that Nye captured headlines in 2012 when he lambasted creationists in a Big Think video and proclaimed that teaching ideas contrary to evolutionary theory is damaging to both children and society.

The "debate" is flawed from the start! They are using the "modern scientific world" as the standard of measure, which would be biased at best because it requires measuring the results based on what scientists define as a "scientific world". Science has not been able to explain or even accept into their models anything spiritual. It's not accounted for in the "scientific world".

This I believe falls under, "avoid vain and profane babblings..."

Bill Nye's Upcoming Creation Debate Prompts Blogger to Bring Up His Brief Connection to Pastor Rick Warren
1/9/14

Despite celebrity scientist Bill Nye's recent attacks on creationism, the television star has not always distanced himself from religion, as evidenced by megachurch pastor Rick Warren performing his 2006 wedding to Blair Tindall.

Blogger Daniel Stillman claimed earlier this week that Warren's link to Nye came through his fiancée, who Stillman alleged had received pastoral counselling from the Saddleback pastor and who also shares his Southern Baptist faith.

In recent years, Nye has cultivated a following due to his public denouncements of creationism. In 2012, he released a YouTube video, "Creationism Is Not Appropriate for Children," where he accused Americans unwilling to accept evolution of preventing progress.

"When you have a portion of the population that doesn't believe in [evolution] it holds everyone back," Nye said in the video, which has since racked up over 6 million views. "...The idea of deep time of billions of years explains so much of the world around us. If you try to ignore that, your worldview becomes crazy, untenable, itself inconsistent."

Nye also told creationists that they should resist imparting their beliefs on their children.

"I say to the grownups, if you want to deny evolution and live in your world, that's completely inconsistent with the world we observe, that's fine. But don't make your kids do it. Because we need them. We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We need engineers that can build stuff and solve problems," he said.

Nye and Ken Ham, CEO and president of creationist organization Answers in Genesis, recently agreed to debate one another in February on the question: "Is creation a viable model of origins in today's modern scientific world?"

Ham, who supports a literal interpretation of the creation account in Genesis, has argued that Nye "doesn't understand the difference between historical science and observational science."

"This debate will help highlight the fact that so many young people are dismissing the Bible because of evolution, and even many young people who had grown up in the church decided to leave the church because they saw evolution as showing the Bible could not be trusted," Ham said about the upcoming debate.

Eight hundred tickets for the event went on sale earlier this week and sold out in two minutes. A live video stream will be available for $4.99 on the day of the debate.

Nye's marriage to Tindall was ultimately short-lived and quickly descended into a series of lawsuits. Several months after the wedding, Nye and Tindall's marriage license was declared invalid.

The scientist shortly thereafter accused his ex of stealing several possessions from him, including his laptop and impersonating him on emails. He later sought out a restraining order, reported TMZ.

In 2009, court documents showed that Tindall violated the restraining order. When Nye returned to court to enforce it, he claimed that the lawsuit cost him $57,000, a number that he returned to court in 2012 to force her to pay.

Advice for Ken Ham in the Creation-Evolution Debate!

The creation/evolution debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham may not become a clash between a table-banging atheist and a Bible-thumping creationist, but it will come close. New Atheists have their knickers in a knot because the Feb. 4 debate may expose evolutionists/atheists for the fools they are. (God said it first!) An evolutionist who is dumb enough to go head to head with an informed creationist usually gets his head handed to him on a platter.

Richard Dawkins and his rabble are fearful of this coming encounter. Some evolutionists are even preparing excuses for Nye’s defeat: “He only has a bachelor’s degree.” “He’s an engineer, not a biologist.” Others have said that Nye will treat the debate as a joke, but if so, the joke will be on him.

Dawkins has interjected himself into this debate by pontificating: “They [creationists] want to be seen on a platform with a real scientist, because that conveys the idea that here is a genuine argument between scientists.” Only a fool, a falsifier, or fanatic declares that all scientists are in agreement on the issue of origins! One major, obvious disagreement is between Neo-Darwinists and punctuated equilibrium devotees. Of course, the huge difference is between those scientists who believe in evolution and those scientists who believe in creationism–there are thousands of them!

Dawkins has said that “Scientists should not debate creationists. Period.” In that, Dawkins is right, at least from their perspective because they almost always lose the debates!

Dawkins added incorrectly, “They [creationists] may not win the argument–in fact, they will not win the argument, but it makes it look like there really is an argument to be had.” Sorry, Dick, you are in a dream world. Dawkins got wounded when an Australian film producer asked him a question about the origin of information and Dick was silent for 19 minutes (not 11 as reported) before he came up with an answer that did not relate to the question! Now, he is denying it happened! And Dawkins has the audacity to say of creationists, “Their dishonesty stops nowhere.” I think Dawkins’ honesty has never started.

Concerning evolution/creation debates, famous evolutionist Niles Eldredge confessed in his book, Monkey Business, “The creationists nearly always win….Creationists today–at least the majority of their spokesmen–are highly educated, intelligent people. Skilled debaters, they have always done their homework. And they nearly always seem better informed than their opponents, who are reduced too often to a bewildered state of incoherence.” So, it’s no surprise that evolutionists are concerned about the “Shoot-out at the O.K. Corral” in Kentucky.

Since Ken and I are on the same team, I will provide him some unsolicited advice (although I’m sure he is “loaded for bear”) on how to handle “the science guy.” Scientific creationism has been discussed, debated, denigrated, denied but never disproved; and the “science guy” will discover that when he visits Kentucky. My advice to Nye is to run away from this debate as if his hair was on fire!

Ham should challenge Nye to declare that he does or does not believe the unsupportable, even outrageous teaching that nothing created everything. Ham should promise not to laugh out loud, maybe only a snicker or two. If Nye follows the path taken by others, he will try to flimflam common people with scientific jargon, psycho-babble, and gibberish. He should be pressed to make his points in clear, concise, and common English. He may try to laugh it away but Ham should not permit him to get away with that.

Ham should demand an explanation as to how all the scientific laws such as gravity, inertia, the First and Second Laws, laws of planetary motion, and others came into existence. After all, “laws” cannot evolve. Were those laws operating before or after the Big Bang?

I would then ask Nye to produce evidence that an explosion has ever resulted in order. Nye may then try to declare that evolutionists don’t believe the Big Bang was an explosion but Nye is lying or is uninformed if he defends that myth. Press him, kindly, of course.

I would then ask how life first formed on a planet made entirely of rock! Then force him to admit that he believes in spontaneous generation that no sane person believes! Press harder.

I would then ask why, if the earth is billions of years old, no meteorites are found in “ancient” strata. That was zero, nil, zip, nothing! Everyone admits that meteorites have always fallen so where is the evidence if the earth is ancient?

I then would ask which evolved first, the mouth, the stomach, the digestive system, or the elimination system. After all, what good is a mouth if you don’t have a stomach? No sensible person says they all evolved together. Yes, evolution requires miracles but only one every few million years. Not four miracles happening at the same time!

I would then ask about DNA. Since everyone admits that DNA is a code, ask who wrote the code. Books, codes, messages, letters, notes, emails, etc., do not self-compose, well except in the fairytale world of the evolutionists. Who wrote the DNA code? Press real hard!

I would then demand to know how blind chemistry created mind/intelligence, meaning, altruism, and morality. The “science guy” will probably sweat, squirm, stutter, and stammer about here.

I would then ask him to explain the symbiotic relationship between wild creatures such as the Nile crock and the Egyptian plover that walks into the crock’s mouth to clean out parasites then walks out without any harm. How does such evolution happen without the crock getting an easy, tasty meal and the plover getting dead?
I would ask how it is possible for fresh (not fossilized) blood cells to be discovered in dinosaurs that are alleged to be more than 60 million years old. That doesn’t happen in the real world.

Evolution is simply a humanist, materialistic religion that seeks to explain man’s origins. It’s not a very good religion. It doesn’t even have any holidays except April 1, although most evolutionists get rather pious on the anniversary of the founding of the ACLU.

Every evolutionist I have met and observed and read after brings up the “creation is religion and evolution is science” axiom as if that settles the matter. But how can evolution be science when it can’t be observed, tested, or demonstrated? The fact is, evolution is as scientific as a voodoo-rooster-plucking ceremony in Haiti–almost!

Evolution is like a blind man in a dark basement looking for a black cat–that isn’t there.

Press on, Ken, press on.

Well, the big debate was last night! Let's see how it went...Notice how the article is titled. I wonder who the AP supports?!  Roll Eyes

I also think it's interesting that the article focuses on their debate on the age of the earth rather than evolution. Let's hear comments trying to convince people evolution is a fact versus the unproven theory that it is.

Men of science are fine so long as they aren't challenged on the evolution theory. Ask them to prove it and they get all strange.

Bill Nye defends evolution in Kentucky debate

Associated Press
By DYLAN LOVAN 3 hours ago

PETERSBURG, Ky. (AP) — TV's "Science Guy" Bill Nye says there are infinite discoveries yet to be made about the universe and how we got here.

Ken Ham, the man Nye traveled to Kentucky to debate Tuesday night, says all those answers are already in the Bible.

Over the course of the two-and-a-half hour debate at Kentucky's Creation Museum, both men had plenty to say, but neither left convinced of the other's argument.

Nye, true to his TV persona, delivered a passionate and animated defense of science and challenged the teachings on display at the museum that the earth is 6,000 years old and man once lived alongside dinosaurs.

"If we accept Mr. Ham's point of view ... that the Bible serves as a science text and he and his followers will interpret that for you, I want you to consider what that means," Nye said. "It means that Mr. Ham's word is to be more respected than what you can observe in nature, what you can find in your backyard in Kentucky."

Nye said scientists can track the age of stars based on their distance from earth.

"How could there be billions of stars more distant than 6,000 years, if the world is only 6,000 years old?" Nye asked Ham.

After a question from an audience member about where atoms and matter comes from, Nye said scientists are making discoveries on that front every day.

Ham, founder of the Creation Musuem, said he already knows the answer.

"Bill, I want to tell you, there is a book that tells where atoms come from, and its starts out, 'In the beginning ...,'" Ham said, referring to the Bible's creation story.

Ham showed the theater audience of about 800 people — and those watching the debate live on the Internet — slides to back up his assertions.

"The Bible is the word of God," Ham said. "I admit that's where I start from."

He also introduced scientists who he said were creationists.

"I believe the word 'science' has been high-jacked by secularists," Ham said.

Regardless of the outcome, the debate was a boon for the museum, which opened in 2007 after being built on $27 million worth of private donations. Ham said his Facebook page on Tuesday had hundreds of thousands of views.

"I think it shows you that the majority of people out there, they're interested in this topic, they want to know about this, they don't want debate shut down," Ham said before the debate.

Some scientists were critical of Nye for agreeing to debate the head of a Christian ministry that is dismissive of evolution.

Jerry Coyne, a professor of ecology and evolution at the University of Chicago, wrote on his blog that "Nye's appearance will be giving money to organizations who try to subvert the mission Nye has had all his life: science education, particularly of kids." Coyne pointed out that the Creation Museum will be selling DVDs of the event.

The museum quickly sold out its 800 seats, thanks in part to Nye's celebrity as the former host of "Bill Nye The Science Guy," a 1990s science education TV program that is still played in some classrooms. Some people in the audience wore "Bill Nye is my home boy" T-shirts. A few more fans wore a bow tie and Nye's signature lab coat.

Nye waded into the evolution debate in an online video in 2012 that urged parents not to pass their religious-based doubts about evolution on to their children. Ham rebutted Nye's statements with his own online video with comments from scientists who work at the museum.

Since the debate was announced in early January, attention has been heaped on the Creation Museum and its directing ministry, Answers in Genesis, which is raising money for a theme park built around a replica of Noah's Ark. The project was announced in 2011 but fundraising has been slow and its groundbreaking date is in limbo.

The Creation Museum said visitors from 29 states bought seats for the debate.

Ham believes the Earth was created 6,000 years ago and that the Bible tells the factual account of the universe's beginnings and the creation of humans. Nye said he, and the rest of the scientific community, believe the Earth was created by a big bang billions of years ago and people have evolved over time.

"I just want to remind us all there are billions of people in the world who are deeply religious, who get enriched by the wonderful sense of community by their religion," said Nye, who wore his trademark bow tie. "But these same people do not embrace the extraordinary view that the Earth is somehow only 6,000 years old."

Nye said technology keeps the U.S. ahead as a world leader and he worried that if creationism is taught to children the country would fall behind.

And as usual, the article comments are more of a hoot than the article itself!

I like Ham, but sometimes I wish creationists wouldn't waste their time debating these evolutionists reprobates like Nye. But at the same time, this is a rare time I don't mind them debating these reprobates b/c these "evolutionists" end up tripping and making fools out of themselves.

With that being said - Churchianity has done nothing in terms of standing a stand - a lot of comments I hear is, "But evolution is science", "But we can't be narrow minded", etc.

Found an MP3 of this. Nye starts off his introduction by comparing science with CSI on tv. yes a program that doesnt even follow science as its a MADE UP TV SHOW. Good job Bill.  Cheesy You dont get DNA tests back in a 1:30 commercial break. But hey you guys just make the stuff up anyways, so it might be a good way to start the debate.

Seriously, how can ANYONE believe evolution is "science", and children need to learn it so that they can be more "open minded"?

These reprobates like Nye just merely talk a bunch of words without showing any kind of evidence(other than words from other reprobates like Stephen Hawking).

Bill Nye is just your standard main stream tool, even reiterating things known to be false. Just amazing, i really thought this guy was better than this. But hes not, he just reiterates stuff.  Cheesy Ham had this won before it even started.

oh and he is VERY PRIDEFUL.

I saw a clip awhile back of Kent Hovind debating an evolutionist - at one point the evolutionist tried to trip up Hovind by asking, "What bible version does it say this?".

Pt being that even the unbelieving atheists seem to be aware of these false bible versions too(and seem to use them to deceive the public as well). No wonder why 99% of churches in America have easily been infiltrated.

The one thing that keeps rattling around in my head is the fact that people seem to ignore the distinct possibility, and I say it's a probability, that God made the earth old from the start. There seems to be an assumption that the earth had to go through all that time for there to be canyons, like the Grand Canyon, and various other geological formations. They say it had to take millions of years for this and that to happen, etc., but who is man to say that the earth could not be created at once in it's present form? Who says it had to go through 4 billion years real time?

God couldn't make earth to be that old geologically in an instant? Science seems to say no. I say that is exactly what God did. Earth didn't go through billions of years of development. God made it this "old", and on top of that, many geological issues are not in fact due to age as science claims. It's simply lies and distortions to make their theory fit.

God says His ways are not our ways. And He also clearly says that time doesn't exits with God. "...a thousand years as one day..."

Here's an opinion piece, post debate...(not a very enthusiastic article title!)

Bill Nye's Creationism Debate Not a Total Disaster, Scientists Say

LiveScience.com
By By Stephanie Pappas, Senior Writer 13 hours ago

The debate between science popularizer Bill Nye and creationist Ken Ham last night (Feb. 4) was controversial before it even began. Scientists from across disciplines argued that debating young-Earth creationism legitimizes the idea, which holds that the Bible's Book of Genesis is a literal description of the creation of the world 6,000 years ago.

Scientists and science educators also worried that Nye would be backed into a corner by a barrage of nonsensical misrepresentations of scientific evidence, impossible to refute without teaching the audience Science 101. The morning after, watchers seemed to agree that such a slaughter had not come to pass, though they still questioned the point of the creationism debate and the detailed approach taken, which included a scripted introduction and presentation by each speaker followed by a more traditional debate.

"Success, as much as there could be in this situation, came when the scripted part was over and Nye put his heart, soul and guts into his direct reactions to Ham's," said Holly Dunsworth, an anthropologist at the University of Rhode Island. "Before that, it just looked like two men throwing as much stuff at the audience as they could." [Creationism vs. Evolution: 6 Big Battles]

Debating science

Ham, founder of Kentucky's Creation Museum, rejects large swaths of scientific knowledge, because of his belief that Genesis should be interpreted literally. He also, as he made clear during the 2.5-hour-long debate at the Museum, rejects much of the scientific process. Ham divides science into "observation science," the discoveries that work in the present and make modern technology possible, and "historical science," which encompasses any attempt to look into the past. Ham is alone in making this distinction, which scientific researchers find baffling.

"What happened a minute ago is due to the same laws that cause what will happen a minute from now," Dunsworth told Live Science. "Everyone takes this for granted, even creationists, otherwise they'd be afraid to step outside the house every morning, wondering whether the ground would give way or whether they'd fall up into outer space."

Nye combated Ham's argument with a barrage of evidence of a planet far older than 6,000 years (in fact, Earth is about 4.5 billion years old), including ice cores that hold a record of hundreds of thousands of summer-winter cycles, fossils dating back millions of years, tree rings showing at least 9,000 years of history and cosmic microwave background radiation that holds evidence of the Big Bang, but failed to get much of an explanation for why Ham disregards this evidence.

"[Ham's] explanation was 'Well, nobody was there to observe this,'" said climatologist Michael Mann of Pennsylvania State University. "In other words, if humans weren't there to observe it, it didn't happen. That's not science."

Ham also spent time citing mainstream scientific studies he said backed up his worldview. In one example, he cited research that came out in January 2014 about dog domestication, arguing that the study's finding that modern dogs evolved from a single population of wolves backs up his idea that God created "kinds" of animals that diverged into today's species within a few thousand years. Ham believes that "kinds" cannot diverge into other "kinds." For example, a branch of dinosaurs could never have evolved into today's birds.

"The interpretation he presented is difficult to understand from our perspective," John Novembre, the lead author of that study, told Live Science. Dogs clearly diverged from wolves recently, as shown by their DNA similarity, Novembre said; the existence of evolution makes exploring the relationship possible.

"As genome-scale sequences have finally become available to us, it's been amazing to see how a single theoretical framework can predict so many patterns seen in these massive datasets," Novembre said. (So evolutionary theory predicted what is now seen in genomes.)

However, these kinds of in-the-weeds examples likely only confused the audience, researchers said.

"I think that it was somewhat unfortunate that both speakers went into very many details, in a wide range of disciplines, instead of concentrating on a few basic points that fully capture the differences between the two views," said Mario Livio, an astrophysicist at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Md., and author of "Brilliant Blunders" (Simon & Schuster, May 14, 2013).

Success for science?

One of the key features of a scientific theory is that it is falsifiable, Livio told Live Science. That means the theory makes predictions that are testable in new experiments.

"As long as the results of those new experiments or observations agree with the predictions, the theories hold," Livio said. "Once the results are found to deviate from the predictions, the theory has to either be rejected or to be modified."

Creationism has no such predictable power, as findings must conform to the creationist's interpretation of God's word. [Top 10 Intelligent Designs (or Creation Myths)]

As a result, the debaters were "playing a game without consistent rules," Seth Shostak, an astronomer at the SETI Institute who watched the debate, wrote in an email to Live Science. Because Ham doesn't accept the basic premise of science, Shostak said, he shrugged off all of Nye's examples of scientific evidence for an old Earth and evolution.

Whether the debate was worthwhile is an open question. Some scientists, like Mann (who is friends with Nye), said their feelings were mixed but hoped a few "fence straddlers" were won over to a better understanding of evolution. Others felt the debate was a waste of time.

"This was not productive or beneficial to science education — it was a spectacle, pure and simple," said Matthew Bonnan, a paleontologist at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey who blogs at The Evolving Paleontologist.

"There is a fear among many Americans that if they accept science, and evolution in particular, they have to abandon their faith," Bonnan said. "But science and faith are different things, which are not diametrically opposed to each other."

Debate may not change many minds, Shostak said, but Nye was right to hold the line — and to appeal to the need for an educated populace.

"I would merely say that the facts can speak for themselves, and with an elegance and brilliance that no resort to misguided faith can match," Shostak said. "We can try to learn quantum mechanics in the lab, or we can try to figure it out from biblical texts.  But even wet-behind-the-ears students can appreciate that a cellphone became possible only when we took the former approach."

Josh Rosenau, a public information project director at the National Center for Science Education, helped Nye prepare for the debate and felt he came away as the winner.

"In the end, I'm just glad that it went so well," Rosenau told Live Science. "Hopefully we won't have another of these debates for a good long time."

Whos to say its old at all? Thats the whole point. The only reason anyone thinks its old is because of  Charles Lyell. He walked out one day and just made up the ages of the Earth. Thats where it came from. He said it, so it stuck. Science cannot tell you how old anything really is, outside of a historical context. The Earth isnt old. The Grand Canyon was washed out by the flood in a matter of weeks. There is no test in the world that tells how old anything is, all of them are based off assumptions, and all of them are 100% wrong if you know how old something is. And that is a scientific FACT that has been observed and repeated.

‘Clash of the Worldviews’: An Estimated Three Million People Watch Historic Ken Ham/Bill Nye Debate

During Tuesday night’s highly-publicized debate in the Creation Museum, evolutionist Bill Nye and creationist Ken Ham presented very different answers to the question of, ‘Is creation a viable model of origins in today’s modern scientific era?’

As previously reported, the debate between Answers in Genesis president Ken Ham and Bill Nye “the Science Guy” captured nationwide media attention, with tickets selling out in approximately two minutes. In total, over 70 media representatives were present at the event.

The debate garnered a huge online audience as well. According to Answers in Genesis, over 10,000 churches, schools, colleges, and other groups streamed the debate live, and the total online viewing audience was estimated to be three million people. It was also a top trending topic on social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter.

The debate, which was moderated by CNN correspondent Tom Foreman, began with five minute opening statements from Ham and Nye. Both Ham and Nye were then given 30 minutes to present their respective cases, followed by rebuttals and counter-rebuttals. Finally, a 45-minute question-and-answer period allowed both debaters to respond to inquiries from the audience.

Over the course of the debate, Ham consistently referred to the Bible as his ultimate standard, saying the creation/evolution debate is a battle over philosophical starting points. He also argued that evolutionists skew the definitions of “science” and “evolution” in order to “impose an anti-God religion on generations of unsuspecting students.”

“Our research has found that public school textbooks are using the same word ‘science’ for observational science and historical science—they arbitrarily define ‘science’ as naturalism and outlaw the supernatural,” Ham said.

“They are imposing—I believe—the religion of naturalism or atheism on generations of students,” Ham continued. “You see, I assert that the word ‘science’ has been hijacked by secularists in teaching evolution to force the religion of naturalism on generations of kids.”

Ham focused very little on targeting Nye’s personal beliefs, but instead concentrated primarily on the biblical model for earth’s history. Several times, he directly presented the Gospel to Nye and the debate audience, stating that salvation in Jesus Christ is more important than scientific beliefs.

“We make no apology about the fact that what we’re all about is this: ‘If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you’ll be saved,” Ham declared.

During his portions of the debate, Nye attempted to discredit the biblical record by drawing a distinction between “science” and creationist beliefs, which he described as “extraordinary and unsettling.” He suggested that many biblical accounts, including the Great Flood, are unrealistic.

“It’s just not reasonable to me that everything changed 4,000 years ago,” Nye said. “By ‘everything,’ I mean species, the surface of the earth, the stars in the sky, and the relationship of all the other living things on earth to humans. It’s just not reasonable to me that everything changed like that.”

Nye also criticized the reliability of the Bible, saying a text that has been passed down from generation to generation must be distorted and untrustworthy.

“If you’ve ever played ‘telephone,’ ” Nye remarked, “… where you have a secret and you whisper it to the next person to the next person to the next person, things often go wrong.”

Nye, describing himself as a “reasonable man,” said the creation model is “a troubling and unsettling point of view” and argued that Ham’s beliefs are irrational.

“Your view,” Nye said, “that we’re supposed to take your word for this book written centuries ago—translated into American English—as somehow more important than what I can see with my own eyes, is an extraordinary claim.”

Topics covered over the course of the debate included dating methods, human races, continental drift, rock layers, human consciousness, science education, and the expansion of the universe.

Toward the end of the debate, Ham asserted that life only has meaning if God is real—otherwise, scientific discoveries are meaningless.

“You talk about the joy of discovery,” Ham told Nye, “but you also say that when you die, it’s over and that’s the end of you. If, when you die, it’s over and you don’t even remember you were here, what’s the point of the joy of discovery anyway? I mean, in an ultimate sense, you won’t ever know you were ever here, and no one who knew you will know they were ever here, ultimately. So what’s the point anyway?”

Following the creation/evolution debate, hundreds gave their opinions on the event via blogs and social media sites.

“I am a 15 year old Christian who watched your debate tonight,” one commenter told Ham via Google+. “I just wanted to congratulate you on your fantastic debate. … God clearly spoke through you tonight. I will pray that you can continue to spread God’s word through science. You are truly talented!”

Dr. Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and an attendee at the debate, wrote on his blog that Ham’s and Nye’s differing perspectives were evident for all to see.

“They shared the stage, but they do not live in the same intellectual world,” he wrote. “Nye is truly committed to a materialistic and naturalistic worldview. Ham is an evangelical Christian committed to the authority of the Bible. The clash of ultimate worldview questions was vividly displayed for all to see.”

“The central issue last night was really not the age of the earth or the claims of modern science,” Mohler concluded. “The question was not really about the ark or sediment layers or fossils. It was about the central worldview clash of our times, and of any time: the clash between the worldview of the self-declared ‘reasonable man’ and the worldview of the sinner saved by grace.”

Whos to say its old at all? Thats the whole point.

I think you understand my point. I'm not saying chronologically old, but weathering old.

It's like the earth was created weathered, it started off this way, with the various formations already made from the start. The system fully operational and up and running. It's feasible that the earth could be dated as 4 billion years old, even though it was all created in 6 days, and now has about 6000 years of age in real time.

Man in his finite wisdom thinks it's impossible that something they think should take billions of years to develop, happened in a basically one day. On day 2, I'm thinking the earth was already old.

Then, with the weather system God put in place, rains, flooding, earthquakes etc, take their toll on the earth from there on, wearing on it, changing the terrain over natural time as we know time. This makes the scientist crazy because they observe the current situation, with floods, and other "naturally occurring" events, and they deduce that such things as the Grand Canyon could not have been made in 6000 years, because the Colorado would not have had enough time to wear out the canyon. We think the canyon was likely made as a result of the flood, but maybe not. It could have been created as it is from the beginning.

Fact Check: Did Bill Nye Tell A Huge Lie About The Fossil Layers?

Did you get a chance to see the debate between Ken Ham and Bill Nye “the Science Guy” the other night?  It was definitely entertaining.  Unfortunately, it didn’t do much to clarify the issues that millions of Americans tuned in to learn more about.  In fact, viewers got a lot of information from Bill Nye that simply is not true.  For example, Bill Nye made it sound like science has discovered fossil layers all over the earth that are neatly stacked on top of one another with less evolved creatures in the earlier layers and more advanced creatures in the upper layers.  He also made the incredible claim that you cannot find a single fossil which is in the wrong layer.  This is such an elementary mistake, and exhibits such a complete ignorance of what the fossil record actually shows, that he should have been laughed off the stage.  This is exactly the kind of extreme anti-intellectualism that Nye was supposedly trying to warn people about.  Sadly, our society has been so “dumbed down” that there are lots of people out there that will actually believe him.

During the debate, Bill Nye said that if we could find “just one” fossil that was out of place that we could change the world.

Well, apparently he is either completely ignorant or he purposely told a huge lie to the American people.

According to Dr. Donald Burge, the curator of vertebrate paleontology at the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum, mammal fossils are found in nearly every dinosaur dig that he has ever been associated with…

“We find mammals in almost all of our [dinosaur dig] sites. These were not noticed years ago … . We have about 20,000 pounds of bentonite clay that has mammal fossils that we are trying to give away to some researcher. It’s not that they are not important, it’s just that you only live once and I specialized in something other than mammals. I specialize in reptiles and dinosaurs.”

By the way, Dr. Burge is an evolutionist.

Not only that, a whole host of modern creatures have been found in “dinosaur rock layers”.  The following is an excerpt from an article by Calvin Smith…

To the surprise of many, ducks,1 squirrels,2 platypus,3 beaver-like4 and badger-like5 creatures have all been found in ‘dinosaur-era’ rock layers along with bees, cockroaches, frogs and pine trees. Most people don’t picture a T. rex walking along with a duck flying overhead, but that’s what the so-called ‘dino-era’ fossils would prove!

In fact, a total of 432 different mammal species have been identified in rock layers containing dinosaurs.

So does that mean that mammals have been around for tens of millions of years?

No, what it could mean is that the way that evolutionists have been dating the dinosaurs is fundamentally flawed.

Most people do not realize this, but T-Rex bones have actually been discovered that still contain soft tissue inside of them.

If those bones truly were “millions of years old” that would be impossible.

And carbon dating also provides strong evidence that the evolutionary timeline is seriously messed up.

Due to the rate that it decays, there should be absolutely no measurable radioactive carbon left in any fossils that are “greater than 100,000 years old”.

No matter how much radioactive carbon was there in the first place, it should be completely gone from anything that was once living after 100,000 years.

But we find it in all of the ancient fossils that we dig up that get tested.  We even find it in coal, diamonds and in dinosaur bones.

If Bill Nye wants to believe in the theory of evolution that is his choice.  But he should quit calling it “science”.  Those that choose to believe in the theory of evolution are choosing to have blind faith in an ancient pagan religious philosophy despite what the scientific evidence actually demonstrates.

If the theory of evolution was actually true, there should be millions upon millions of transitional fossils in the rock layers that show the development of one species into another species.

Instead, we find just the opposite.

But don’t take my word for it.  Just check out what one of the most famous evolutionists in the entire world has to say about the matter…

The most famous paleontologist in the world, Harvard’s Stephen Jay Gould, said, “The extreme rarity of transitional forms in the fossil record persists as the trade secret of paleontology.” (Note” “extreme rarity” is Harvard-speak for “nada, zilch, zippo.”)

So what does the fossil record actually show?

It actually contains remarkable evidence for a sudden creation.  The following is an excerpt from a recent article by Bryan Fischer…

What the fossil record teaches us, in contrast to the theory of evolution, is that increasingly complex life forms appear fully formed in the fossil record, just as if they were put there by a Creator. This is especially true of what is called the “Pre-Cambrian Explosion,” the vast, overwhelming, and quite sudden appearance of complex life forms at the dawn of time. Evolutionists are at a total loss to explain the Pre-Cambrian Explosion.

The biblical record indicates quite clearly that all things, including increasingly complex life forms, came fully formed from the hand of God.

Thus the fossil record is a powerful argument for the existence of a Creator or Intelligent Designer while at the same time being fatal for the theory of evolution.

Science is supposed to be about what you can observe, but nobody has ever seen Darwinian evolution take place.  You cannot see it in the fossil record and you cannot see it in the laboratory.

Just consider this quote from evolutionary microbiologist James Shapiro of the University of Chicago…

“There are no detailed Darwinian accounts for the evolution of any fundamental biochemical or cellular systems, only a variety of wishful speculations.”

And consider this one from University of Bristol scientist Alan Linton…

“Throughout 150 years of the science of bacteriology, there is no evidence that one species of bacteria has changed into another. None exists in the literature claiming that one species has been shown to evolve into another.”

For much more on all of this, please see my previous article entitled “44 Reasons Why Evolution Is Just A Fairy Tale For Adults“.

Once again, please feel free to believe whatever you want to believe.  Bill Nye certainly does and Pat Robertson certainly does.  I definitely strongly disagree with both of them.

But I hope that everyone out there will quit claiming that evolution is a “proven fact” like Bill Nye has been claiming.

He is only embarrassing himself in front of the entire country.

And the truth is that Bill Nye even admits that there is a vast array of things about human origins that he does not know.  Here is more from Bryan Fischer…

Where did the atoms that made up the Big Bang come from? Nye has no idea. Where did man’s consciousness come from? Nye has no idea. How can matter produce life? Nye has absolutely no idea. This surely is all one needs to know to recognize the utter bankruptcy of the theory of evolution.

In the end, by making a ridiculous spectacle of himself and mocking Christianity, Bill Nye is actually fulfilling Bible prophecy.  The following was written nearly 2000 years ago…

Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Bill Nye can scoff at the Bible all that he wants, but he can never change the truth.

So what do you think about all of these things?  Please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment below…

BILL NYE'S ERROR PERTAINING TO KENTUCKY'S SCIENTIFIC STATUS
(Friday Church News Notes, February 14, 2014, www.wayoflife.org fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143)

- The following is excerpted from "Answering Bill Nye," Around the World with Ken Ham, Feb. 8, 2014:

"During my recent debate with Bill Nye 'The Science Guy' at the Creation Museum, Mr. Nye ... made a false claim about our state of Kentucky and its medical technology. It caught the eye of a diagnostic radiologist, who wrote a letter to Bill Nye to correct him [about the] false charge that the state of Kentucky does not have a nuclear medicine program within its borders. Apparently it was Nye's attempt to show that the Creation Museum's home state is backward technologically, and that the museum has supposedly been contributing to scientific illiteracy in Kentucky. ... 'Bill, I thank you for your time and effort in participating in the debate with Ken Ham. I am a Bible-believing Christian and a physician--a diagnostic radiologist, in fact. I graduated from MIT with a degree of biology, and went on to New York University for my medical school. I was not a believer of Christ then, but I am a believer now. ... You state: "Right now, there is no place in the Commonwealth of Kentucky to get a degree in this kind of nuclear medicine." ... You could have used the website of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, the governing body for certifying individuals to be a nuclear medicine technologist. In their list of accredited schools for nuclear medicine technologists, Kentucky has two: one in Louisville at Jefferson Community College, and the other in Lexington at Bluegrass Community & Technical College. ... If you go further down the list for the State of Washington (where Nye Labs LLC is located, as per your Contact Bill Nye webpage), there is only one, at Bellevue College in Bellevue, WA. So, by your argument (of using the number of nuclear medicine technology schools as a reflection of that state's scientific sophistication), perhaps you should be worried that your state of Washington is a bit behind Kentucky in technological and scientific sophistication, and I hope that you find that "troubling" and hope you're "concerned" about that. By your argument, Kentucky is twice as scientifically literate as Washington. ... Perhaps you owe an apology to the citizens of Kentucky in the live and Internet audience regarding your comment about their state.'"

If I was a young child, and my parents caught me with THIS significant of a lie, they would have smacked me a good one.

It's amazing how even some of these grown adults like Nye think they can put out blatant lies, and think they can get away with it.

Bill Nye confuses South Pole with North Pole in 'Meet the Press' Climate Debate

Nye Flubs: Nye holding up pic of Arctic while discussing the Antarctic. At 8 min. 30 seconds in, Nye hold up picture of Arctic and asks: 'Would you say that the Antarctic has less ice than it used to?'

First time I've seen a close up picture of this guy(no, didn't watch his debate with Ken Ham recently). He looks awfully familiar. It's as if I've seen him before.

Yeah, Nye had a long running tv "science" show I think on Saturday mornings, basically a kid's show.

Bill Nye, The Science Guy tv show (1993-1998)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173528/

Notice it was a Disney production.
