TV Nudity Is Increasingly Being Rated Acceptable For Kids

A new study from Parents Television Council (PTC) has revealed that shows like ABC's "The Bachelor" are blurring the lines of how much skin is acceptable to show on primetime broadcast TV.

Based on findings from a period between January 1 and April 26 of this year, the PTC concluded “that blurred or pixilated full nudity is increasingly being shown on primetime broadcast television shows, and that almost 70% of this type of nudity is being shown on TV-PG rated programs.”

The PTC concludes that NBC and ABC are the most guilty, with the two networks accounting “for 88% of the full nudity that aired on primetime broadcast television.”

And while it may not be a conscious move by the networks to show more skin on their shows, it's often something that happens slowly over time.

"We have documented in the past that there is a phenomenon called 'ratings creep,' what’s not acceptable to show on TV in previous years eventually becomes acceptable," explains the PTC in their report.

"This data exposes the huge flaw in the TV ratings system: that the TV networks rate their own content and are financially motivated not to give a TV show a higher rating, otherwise advertisers would likely flee," continues the report.

But PTC President Tim Winter has a solution: "The FCC needs to enforce the indecency law – period. And if it doesn’t, then Congress needs to ensure that this happens and that children are protected."

Yeah, I've noticed this too - can't tell you how much skin of people they've shown on the tube in recent years, compared to the 80's and 90's, when these "pro-family" groups were constantly working the referees. Now? They don't so much anymore.

Also - this is how the entertainment industry has put out a lot of subliminal messages to embrace homosexuality - it's not so much females showing skin, but the MALES(at least from what I've noticed) in these entertainment products have done even more so. So ultimately, these have been SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES in doing so, especially when young kids and teens are constantly exposed to this, and potentially get disenthitized.

There Are 747,000 Registered Sex Offenders In The United States

America has just about reached a new milestone – we currently have close to three quarters of a million registered sex offenders in this country.  According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, there are 747,408 registered sex offenders in the United States right now.  And those are just the ones that have been caught and convicted.  How many more sickos are running around out there that we don’t even know about?  This isn’t just a problem – this is a national epidemic of unprecedented proportions.  Once upon a time in America, you could let your children run around the neighborhood and play without giving it a second thought.  But now you have to watch your kids like a hawk because there are literally millions of twisted individuals out there that would love to get their hands on them if they could.  We have become a nation that is absolutely obsessed with sex, and it is destroying us.

These days, you don’t have to work for a major news organization to “catch a predator”.  In fact, one father up in Michigan recently caught a 22-year-old man with condoms in his pockets coming over to have sex with his 13-year-old daughter.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Fortunately, the father intervened and captured the young man.  He even took a video of this young man confessing what he had intended to do…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDWBavvW8F8&feature=player_embedded

But of course that is far from an isolated incident.  Just check out these statistics about sex offenders in the United States…

-There are 747,408 registered sex offenders in the United States today.

-That number has risen by 23.2 percent just since 2006.

-There are 106,216 registered sex offenders in the state of California alone.

-Close to nine out of every 10 sex crimes are committed by individuals that do not have any record of ever committing a sex crime before.

-18 percent of all women in the United States say that they have been raped at some point in their lives.

-More than 50 percent of all rapes take place within one mile of the home.

-43 percent of all rapes take place between 6 PM and midnight.

-Teens that are in the 16 to 19 year old age bracket are 3 1/2 times more likely than the general population “to be the victims of ****, attempted **** or sexual assault.”

-60 percent of male sex abuse victims and 80 percent of female sex abuse victims “are abused by someone known to the child or the child’s family.”

-Approximately 20 percent of all child sexual abuse victims in the United States are under the age of 8.

-It is estimated that one out of every four girls will be sexually abused before they become adults.

Unfortunately, most of the time we never even hear about what is happening in the dark corners of America.  When someone does shine a light on the filth once in a while, it can be absolutely shocking…

Texas authorities said Tuesday they removed 11 children from a crowded home where a registered sex offender lives after they found eight confined in a small, dark bedroom with restraints tying some to their beds.

Along with the children, 10 adults were living in the one-story, 1,700-square-foot home in Dayton, about 30 miles northeast of Houston, Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter said. One month after a raid on the house, authorities are still trying to determine how the children are related and why they were there, she said.

Is there any punishment that is too harsh for those that would treat children like that?

Unfortunately, this kind of thing is becoming increasingly common.

People seem to be getting sicker and more twisted with each passing year.

So why is all of this happening?

Well, a major factor is what we have been feeding into our minds…

-An astounding 30 percent of all Internet traffic now goes to adult websites.

-70 percent of all men in the 18 to 24 year old age bracket visit at least one adult website each month.

-The average high school boy spends two hours on adult websites every single week.

-Law enforcement officials estimate that about 600,000 Americans and about 65,000 Canadians are trading dirty child pictures online.

-It has been estimated that 89 percent of all pornography is produced in the United States.

When we put garbage in, we get garbage out.

In this kind of moral environment, some men will actually jump into septic tanks full of human excrement and wait there hoping to get a glimpse of something…

Peeping Toms are always creepy in that they covertly observe victims against their will and without their knowledge. But these antics become ever more troubling when certain voyeurs take extraordinary actions to engage in and fulfill their twisted and secretive conquests. Take, for instance, the allegations against Kenneth Webster Enlow, 52, a purported peeping Tom who reportedly hid inside a septic tank and stared up at women from beneath public toilets.

Yes, you read that correctly. After being discovered underneath a public restroom, Enlow has been charged with a peeping Tom complaint. He was caught in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, after a woman took her 7-year-old daughter to the bathroom at a local park.

When the got inside the bathroom, the mother and daughter duo were in for a surprise. Enlow was allegedly staring up at them from inside the toilet.

Is this the way that we want to live?

Oh, but if you even mention words like “morality” and “purity” people look at you like you are crazy.

We have more than 747,000 registered sex offenders running around in this country, but we are told that there is nothing wrong with the moral compass of the American people.

So what do you think?

What do you believe the solution to this problem is?

Please feel free to share your opinion by posting a comment below…

City Council To Address Nudity Claim At Local ‘Breastaurant’

Officials in the city of Lewisville could soon change an ordinance to better define what constitutes nudity.

The issue came up after someone complained about what waitresses were wearing, or not wearing, at one restaurant.

A patron called Lewisville police after what they claim happened during a stop at the restaurant and bar called Redneck Heaven. When officers went to the establishment to investigate they found female waitresses serving customers with only body paint and pasties covering their breasts.

There were no charges filed or arrests made, because the wait staff had broken no law.

By Ezra Levant on July 13, 2013

Benjamin Levin, (pic above) Ontario’s former deputy minister of education, has been charged with seven counts of child exploitation, including child pornography.

He hasn’t just been charged with possessing images of children being sexually abused.

He’s been charged with arranging for sexual offences against a child, making child **** and distributing it to others.

Levin’s bail conditions include a ban on him using the Internet except at work — he’s a professor at the University of Toronto.

And he’s not allowed to use a cellphone that connects to the Internet or has a camera in it.

There are tens of thousands of civil servants in Ontario and, as a matter of statistical probability, a number will be charged with crimes every year.

But this is different.

The charge of making child pornography is the gravest immorality, perhaps second only to murder. This isn’t a shoplifting offence.

And the second factor is what Levin does. At U of T, he teaches teachers how to teach kids. And what he did.

He was deputy minister during the development of the proposed, hyper-sexualized curriculum for Ontario grade schools. Those sex lessons will start in Grade 1 — when children are barely toilet trained.

That’s relevant. Put it another way: If a deputy finance minister were charged with drunk driving, that would be awful. But if he were charged with fraud or money laundering, the charge wouldn’t just go to his personal conduct. It would raise questions about his professional work, his public policy.

Did he colour his official duties in line with his criminal mind? Did he order officials to ignore certain problems, did he weaken enforcement of white-collar crime?

Everything done at work by that deputy finance minister would rightly be questioned. All of his decisions, all of his public acts would be questioned. All his policy memos, all his e-mails would be scrutinized.

Charges of arranging for sexual offences against a child, of being a predator, are horrific in their own right. But how much darker is it that Levin had a hand in drafting the graphic sex lessons for young children?

In our legal system, Levin is innocent until proven guilty. But what about our political system?

We must also ask if changing the Ontario curriculum to bring sex lessons to children of tender years was coloured by Levin’s alleged proclivities.

The sex lessons developed when he was deputy minister, include teaching Grade 1 kids — six-year-old girls and boys — detailed sexual anatomy and vocabulary.

Eight-year-olds are taught homosexuality — not just its existence, but its legitimacy as a sexual alternative.

The new curriculum is clear on this. A wide range of sexual preferences are to be taught in an encouraging way, and any resistance — be it religious, cultural or just a child’s squeamishness with such adult subjects — is to be reformed and corrected by teachers.

Teacher 'popped painkillers, smoked pot and drank alcohol with high school student until they both passed out'

By Paul Thompson

PUBLISHED: 15:35 EST, 5 February 2013  | UPDATED: 15:35 EST, 5 February 2013

A high school teacher took drugs and drank alcohol with a teen student until they both passed out, according to police.

Elizabeth Hatzidakis, 33, is alleged to have taken prescription painkillers, smoked marijuana and drank alcohol with a 17-year-old from her school.

Police said they had both consumed so much they passed out on a sofa at her home in Port St Lucie, Florida.

Hatzidakis was arrested after the teen's father went to the police and admitted the teacher had bought drugs from her son.

The teen later told police he had been supplying 'Mz Hatz' with drugs since June.

Hatzidakis was arrested at St Lucie Centennial High School on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

When investigators went to her home they found a small amount of Oxycodone in her purse, a small amount of marijuana, a 'bong' and other items of drug paraphernalia.

She faced further charges of possession of a controlled substance. Hatzidakis was released on $19,000 bond.

Her arrest stunned neighbors in Port St Lucie.

Warning to parents: ‘These are not the cartoons you grew up with’

The Parents Television Council has issued an urgent warning to parents and advertisers concerning the explicit content of an animated programming block that just launched. - See

“Just when you think network standards couldn’t get any lower, they do,” begins PTC’s online alert about a new animated programming block on the FOX television network that debuted last Saturday. It is the latest attempt by FOX to enter the late night fray similar to the Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" programming block.

While the shows may appear innocent, Dan Isett, director of public policy for the Parents Television Council (PTC), warns they are ultra-violent, sexually explicit, and profanity-laden cartoons. .

“There’s an entire section of this thing that’s all about ‘sexting’ – the taking of [explicit] photographic images of young men and distributing them through the whole school,” he tells OneNewsNow. “There’s references to group sex and all sorts of things that I frankly can’t describe very well.”

According to Isett, FOX has quietly built an audience for the programming via the Internet by showing explicit animations on the program's website – which has no parental controls. “Any eight-year-old could simply click and watch selections from a collection of three-minute cartoons that are more explicit than anything we’ve seen on broadcast television to-date,” says PTC. -

Examples of X-rated animations that FOX has already made available online – and eventually may air on broadcast television – include ****, anatomically correct characters; dead, decomposing corpses that are disrobed; lesbianism; and fondling of women.

“The really key thing for parents to understand is that this is not the cartoons that you grew up with,” Isett urges. “[And] to not trust FOX in this instance, because they’ve taken things that sort of look like classic cartoon fare and turned it into something really raunchy and offensive and damaging to your children.”

PTC urges parents and grandparents to call their local Fox affiliates and ask that this programming block be preempted in their community. -

I agree some of those kinds of cartoons are extremely carnal, but that article is a bit disingenuous with their warning. They make it sound like it's a kids cartoon. It's not. Those type animated shows are for adults. But it's always about parents raising their children, so regardless of the tv show, the parents need to oversee what their kids even access online or on a tv.

The problem is that churchianity keeps meddling in the world, trying to tell the carnal, unbelieving world how they should act, when the world could care less what churchianity has to say. That's exactly why the world has all that carnal, lewd stuff they do. They don't believe in living like a Christian. But then churchianity thinks by it's own actions and protesting of tv shows, they will save somebodies soul. Ain't going to happen, and the world will not change their ways till Jesus deals with them, in His time.

12  Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13  But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
15  Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16  And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

Cops dealing Doritos at post-legalization Hempfest

A few things will be different at this year's Hempfest, the 22-year-old summer "protestival" on Seattle's waterfront where tens of thousands of revelers gather to use dope openly, listen to music and gaze at the Olympic Mountains in the distance.

The haze of pot smoke might smell a little more like victory, after Washington and Colorado became the first states to legalize marijuana use by adults over 21. Having won at the state level, speakers will concentrate on the reform of federal marijuana laws.

Oh, and the Seattle police - who have long turned a lenient eye on Hempfest tokers - don't plan to be writing tickets or making arrests. They'll be busy handing out Doritos.

"I think it's going to be a lot of fun," said Sgt. Sean Whitcomb, department spokesman and junk-food-dispenser-in-chief. "It's meant to be ironic. The idea of police passing out Doritos at a festival that celebrates pot, we're sure, is going to generate some buzz."

The idea isn't just to satisfy some munchies. The department has affixed labels to 1,000 bags of Doritos urging people to check out a question-and-answer post on its website, titled "Marijwhatnow? A Guide to Legal Marijuana Use In Seattle." It explains some of the nuances of Washington's law: that adults can possess up to an ounce but can't sell it or give it away, that driving under the influence of pot is illegal, and that - festivals aside - public use is illegal.

Organizers are expecting as many as 85,000 people each day of the three-day event, which begins Friday and is the first Hempfest since voters passed Initiative 502 last fall.

The vote legalized possession of marijuana and set up a system of state-licensed marijuana growers, processors and stores to sell taxed and regulated weed. Officials are still writing rules for the new pot industry, with sales scheduled to begin next year.

Hempfest executive director Vivian McPeak said that despite the state-level legalization, work remains as long as pot is illegal under federal law. The event is free, but McPeak is asking attendees to contribute $10 to offset the $800,000 cost of Hempfest so it can continue next year.

"It's going to be the most interesting Hempfest we've ever had because it's going to be part victory celebration," McPeak said. "That said, we feel it's very important to remind everyone that as long as it's still a Schedule 1 drug under the Controlled Substances Act, it's not legal anywhere. The job's not done yet."

The event will feature 117 musical acts on six stages and more than 100 speakers, not to mention 400 vendors offering informational pamphlets, colorful glass bongs, food and art.

McPeak said that to encourage the responsible use of pot, Hempfest this year will be handing out cards with marijuana "gut checks" prepared by Roger Roffman, a University of Washington School of Social Work professor and marijuana dependence expert. The cards note that while marijuana is used safely by many people, it can cause short-term memory loss, affect your ability to drive and cause dependence.

"We hope people will take it more seriously coming from us than from a traditional messenger," McPeak said.

And although police won't be ticketing people for smoking in public, officers will be ensuring public safety and keeping a close eye out for intoxicated drivers leaving the event, Whitcomb said.

Brett Laoruangroch is hoping to use Hempfest to promote his fledgling business, Prohibition Brands, by rolling a joint of at least 2 pounds - an effort Hempfest's organizers have frowned upon as not compliant with Initiative 502. Prohibition Brands hopes to obtain a marijuana processing license under the state's new law.

"This is a big moment for me," he said. As a pot smoker, "You kind of get an image that's cast upon you in a negative way. For a lot of people, this is a you-don't-have-to-hide-in-the-shadows-any-more kind of thing. You can be out in the open."

New Jersey Gov. Christie conditionally vetoes kids medical marijuana bill

Gov. Chris Christie has agreed to give chronically ill children easier access to medical marijuana.

However, the governor conditionally vetoed a bill on the issue because it goes further than he was willing to go.

"As I have repeatedly noted, I believe that parents, and not government regulators, are best suited to decide how to care for their children," Christie said in a statement. "Protection of our children remains my utmost concern, and my heart goes out to those children and their families who are suffering with serious illnesses. Today, I am making commonsense recommendations to this legislation to ensure sick children receive the treatment their parents prefer, while maintaining appropriate safeguards. I am calling on the Legislature to reconvene quickly and address these issues so that children in need can get the treatment they need."

Christie agreed to allow production of ingestible forms of pot at state-approved dispensaries and to allow dispensaries to grow more than three strains of the drug.

But he wants to leave a requirement that a psychiatrist and pediatrician sign off before children are allowed medical marijuana.

They would still need a third doctor's recommendation if one of the others is not registered in the program.

The bill was being pushed by parents of children with severe seizure disorders who say that children elsewhere have benefited from certain strains of marijuana.

It now goes back to the state Legislature.

But he wants to leave a requirement that a psychiatrist and pediatrician sign off before children are allowed medical ****.

They would still need a third doctor's recommendation if one of the others is not registered in the program.

Hypocrite!

Thought you said, "As I have repeatedly noted, I believe that parents, and not government regulators, are best suited to decide how to care for their children,"

Oh, wait, you did say that!  Roll Eyes

What this is all boiling down to, as I suspected it would, is the state literally stealing an industry from the public, and handing it over to select "officially-recognized" organizations and "experts", with the government taking their massive cut off the top via outrageously high tax rates on commercial operations and dispensaries, while severely and unrealistically restricting individuals, because if individuals could actually grow their own, then there would be no market for dispensary tax revenue!

Just take a look at the tax rates states are proposing or are charging "authorized" commercial growers and dispensaries. As high as 50% at the wholesale level!

Outright theft I'm tellin' ya!

After the pro-gay lobby get their "rights", pretty soon these types will be demanding their "rights" as well...

Former Mont. teacher gets 30 days for student ****
8/27/13

District Judge G. Todd Baugh sentenced Stacey Dean Rambold to 15 years in prison for sexual intercourse without consent, with all but 31 days suspended.

BILLINGS, Mont. — A former Billings Senior High School teacher who pleaded guilty to raping a 14-year-old student who later killed herself has been sentenced to 30 days in jail by a judge who said the victim was "older than her chronological age" and "as much in control of the situation" as the teacher.

Teacher who raped suicidal teen gets just 30 days in jail

District Judge G. Todd Baugh sentenced Stacey Dean Rambold to 15 years in prison for sexual intercourse without consent, with all but 31 days suspended. He gave Rambold credit for one day already served, The Billings Gazette reported.

The girl's mother repeatedly screamed, "You people suck!" and stormed out of the courtroom Monday.

Rambold, now 54, was charged in October 2008 with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent alleging that he had an ongoing sexual relationship with Cherice Morales, starting the previous year when she was 14.

Morales took her own life in February 2010 while the case was pending.

In July 2010, Rambold entered a three-year deferred prosecution agreement with prosecutors that said the charges would be dismissed if Rambold completed a sex offender treatment program and met other conditions, including having no contact with children. He also admitted to one **** charge.

The case was revived last December when prosecutors learned Rambold had been terminated from the sex offender treatment program.

Treatment provider Michael Sullivan said Rambold started missing meetings in August 2012, but Sullivan said he met with Rambold and he appeared to be back on track with his treatment.

Rambold was terminated from the program in November when it was learned that he had been having unsupervised visits with minors, who were family members, and did not inform counselors that he had been having sexual relations with a woman.

Defense attorney Jay Lansing said Rambold has since continued his treatment with a different program and an evaluation found him at low risk to re-offend.

Baugh said he was not convinced that the reasons for Rambold's termination from treatment were serious enough to warrant the 10-year prison term prosecutors recommended.

The judge said he listened to statements given by Morales before her death and believed that while she was a troubled youth, she was "as much in control of the situation" as Rambold and was "older than her chronological age."

Yellowstone County Attorney Scott Twito told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he would not appeal the judge's sentence.

"We respect the court's sentencing decision. We obviously disagree with it, based on the recommendations my attorneys made, but it appears to be legally permissible," he said.

Asked about Baugh's reasoning that a 14-year-old girl below the state's age of consent had an equal share of control of the relationship, Twito declined to answer directly.

"The judge's reasons are his reasons and his reasons alone. He has broad authority under state law, given the proper criteria," Twito said.

The case resulted in a $91,000 wrongful death settlement between the school district and Morales' family.

Rambold reached a confidential settlement with the girl's family.

^^ It seems like in our present day, EVERYTHING in our justice system has been compromised - not only the judges, but also the prosecuting DAs et al.

U.S. School Teachers Across Nation Now Moonlighting As
Call Girls (‘Sugar Babies’)

Brandon Wade, the website’s founder and CEO, said the average public school teacher registered on the site is between the ages of 28- and 33-years-old, and asks for approximately $3,000 a month in financial assistance from her sugar daddy. “You can’t expect a teacher to accept less pay for more work than their peers, and then reach into their pockets to fund your child’s classroom,” Wade said in a statement. “But that’s what’s happening. If those are the expectations and pressures we are putting on our teachers in America, than they can’t possibly be judged for whatever extracurricular activities they choose to pursue to stay afloat.”

Oddly, this is something I've seen in tv shows and movies during the 1980's and 90's(when I was unsaved), during a time when this was not tolerated. Pretty much, the way these sitcoms, for example, would portray it, they would do so sympathetically.

Yet more predictive programming.

Synthetic pot 'Spice' puts dozens in ER

'Predominant thing we see is patients completely out of control'

Health officials are continuing to see people being hospitalized with a bad reaction after taking “Spice.”

Police believe a bad batch of Spice is making its way around the Denver metro area and was responsible for sending dozens to the hospital last week. Just over the weekend at least another six people experienced a dangerous reaction to the drug.

“Spice,” “K2″ or “Black Mamba” are the names of a drug that is a form of synthetic marijuana. The drug is distributed in little packets. It can be 800 times more potent than THC the chemical in marijuana that makes you high.

Police believe that a bad batch of the synthetic drug is being spread around and has left more than 60 people in area emergency rooms. Several of those are on life support.

So much for this "war on drugs" that started in the 1980's - probably the biggest "war" hoax ever, even more so than the "war on terror".

Mexico City considers creating *pot* smoking 'clubs'
Mexico City council is considering the legalisation of cannabis plants and the creation of private *pot* smoking "clubs".

The capital hosted a three-day forum on drug policy amid a growing debate in Latin America over the course of the region's deadly struggle against trafficking, with President Enrique Pena Nieto taking a stance against legalisation.

Esthela Damian, a councilman of the city's ruling Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), said AFP the proposals on the table include allowing the cultivation of three cannabis plants per person, as well as a system of co-operatives or "non-profit private clubs."

The US states of Washington and Colorado voted to legalise the recreational use of *pot* last year, a move that shocked the Mexican government as it faces cartel violence that has left more than 70,000 people dead in the past seven years.

Former President Vicente Fox, who was in office from 2000 to 2006, has come out in favour of legalising *pot* as a solution to the violence.

Mr Pena Nieto has vowed to tweak the security policy of his predecessor, Felipe Calderon, but he has kept troops on the ground to combat drug trafficking and detains kingpins while voicing opposition to drug legalisation

Now that the benefits of cannabis is starting to get more press and proof, people are starting to jump on the bandwagon so they can get their cut of the action in the new cannabis industry. Once the feds truly back off, they won't be able to shut it down, because the public is getting much more educated via the internet and not just US televisions stations that have been brainwashing the public for decades with stupid anti-drug messages.

I see it now as getting to the point of society is starting to realize that if this things keeps going the way it is, they better take advantage now before it's too late. But the reality is that governments are starting to take the same attitude in a sense. Their approach is apparently, if you can't beat them, take their market from them, and control the market themselves.

Extreme binge drinking among high school seniors holding steady

Binge drinking among high school seniors may have declined slightly, but the rate of extreme bingeing -- people who knock back more than 10 drinks at a time -- has remained steady, a new study shows.

University of Michigan researchers, analyzing data from a nationally representative sample of 12th graders, found that one in 10 high school seniors reported consuming 10 or more drinks in a single bout over the previous two weeks. One in 20 reported they'd consumed 15 or more drinks in a row over the same time period.

“The rate of 1 in 10 is pretty alarming,” said the study’s lead author, Megan Patrick, a research assistant professor at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. “And if we had asked how many times this happened over the past year [instead of the past two weeks] the rates probably would have been higher.”

The study looked at surveys that were collected annually from 2005 to 2011 as part of the ongoing Monitoring the Future study, which began in 1975. While the overall rate of bingeing, defined as five or more drinks in a single bout, dropped four points during that period, the rate of those who drank 10 or more stayed the same.

Patrick and her colleagues decided to look at rates of underage extreme binge drinking to try to explain why, when binge drinking among teens had dropped overall, the rates of visits to the emergency room had not declined.

“Those who are drinking 15 or more are at high risk of needing hospitalization and other kinds of health care use for negative consequences,” Patrick said. “Even though the overall rate is going down, we’re seeing that the most extreme behaviors are not decreasing.”

Factors that increase risk of extreme bingeing include being white, male and living in a rural environment.

Researchers examined data from 16,332 high school seniors across the United States from 2005 to 2011. In 2005, 22 percent of high school seniors reported they had consumed five or more drinks in a single bout during the previous two weeks. That’s compared to 18.1 percent in 2011. In the same time period, the number of those who knocked back 10 or more drinks in a single bout went from 10.5 to 9.6 percent, while those who downed 15 or more drinks in a single bout went from 5.5 percent to 4.4 percent. That might look like a slight decrease in the extreme bingers, but the drop wasn’t statistically significant, Patrick said.

More research on extreme bingeing is needed, wrote Ralph W. Hingson, an epidemiologist at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, in an editorial accompanying the article. This kind of drinking in teens dramatically increases the risk of serious injury and overdose, he wrote.

Consuming 15 or more drinks during a four hour period on an empty stomach can lead to blood alcohol levels well above 0.30 percent in a male, Hingson noted. For someone under age 21, a blood alcohol level of 0.15 can lead to devastating consequences, studies have shown.

“For drivers aged 16 to 20 years at that BAL, the increased risk of a fatal crash approached 500 times that for a sober, same-aged driver,” Hingson wrote.

While not common, “kids do die from alcohol poisoning,” said Dr. John Walkup, director of the division of child and adolescent psychiatry at NY-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Further, “it’s known that the earlier you start drinking, the greater the risk for addiction,” Walkup said. “Also, those who can tolerate large quantities of alcohol are the most vulnerable to becoming addicted.”

The best defense against teen binge drinking is parental supervision, Walkup said.

“Parents are the anti-drug,” he added. “The data are pretty good that parents who supervise their children can reduce substance abuse. You’ve seen the public service announcements showing a parent asking, ‘Where are you going? Who are you going with? What are you going to do?’

“It isn’t necessarily asking the questions that is important, it’s knowing where your kid is and who he’s with.”

The most important thing a parent can do, Walkup said, is to know their kids.

“When I see kids in trouble I ask the parents if their kid is transparent or is he opaque,” Walkup said. “Those with kids in trouble often say they see their kids as opaque and puzzling, while the kids see their parents as clueless and easily fooled. The kids will say ‘They have no idea who I am.’”

9/14/13
Are You Ready For Public School ****

To say that the state of education in the United States is poor would be an understatement. Our public education system resembles something being flushed down a toilet, spinning inexorably downward thanks in large part to our leader who choose to change everything but the things that matter. Our latest example of this is the Common Core, which is really just a continuation and an expansion of No Child Left Behind. Make no mistake, Common Core is an attempt by the left to do with education what Obamacare is doing to healthcare.

We’ve already seen more than a few horror stories developing from the current implementation of the monstrous national education system, and we’re bound to see a lot more of them in the future.

Maybe some like this one from out in Arizona.

Parents of 10th graders at Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona were surprised to learn about the content of a book that was prescribed for the entire sophomore class. “Dreaming in Cuban” by Cristina Garcia was assigned as mandatory reading to this year’s class as part of the Common Core approved and recommended materials for teaching English Language Arts to 10th graders. Not only are the students being forced to read this adult material, they are actually reading it together, out loud, in class. Here is just a sample of what they are “enjoying.” (Careful – this next section is not suitable for all ages.)

“Hugo and Felicia stripped in their room, dissolving easily into one another, and made love against the whitewashed walls. Hugo bit Felicia’s breast and left purplish bands of bruises on her upper thighs. He knelt before her in the tub and massaged black Spanish soap between her legs. He entered her repeatedly from behind.”

The story continues…

“Felicia learned what pleased him. She tied his arms above his head with their underclothing and slapped him sharply when he asked. “‘You’re my ****,’” Hugo said, groaning. “In the morning he left, promising to return in the summer.”

Dreaming-in-Cuban-pagesWhile that may be acceptable reading in certain homes across our nation, I would presume that there are likely millions of parents who would be extremely upset at learning that this was the material being used to teach our children. The problem is that many parents will have no recourse if they keep their children in the public school system, because in the eyes of the government and the school – this teacher has done nothing wrong by selecting this pornographic material for her children. It was approved and recommended at the highest levels. Perhaps the school will discontinue its use, but what if the teacher chooses another similarly scandalous text?

This is just a glimpse of what’s to come in public education, with the proliferation of technology and the internet our children will be introduced to much more questionable material without our knowledge or consent. Parents, you must stay mindful of what transpires in your child’s classroom. The public school system does not share our values, morals or purpose.
