The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Quote
And then there's the case of Miami Dolphins football player Don Jones. When the Dolphins selected gay athlete and cause celebre Michael Sam in the seventh round of the NFL draft, the celebratory kiss with his boyfriend was shown repeatedly on television. Jones reacted by tweeting "OMG" and "Horrible." The Dolphins immediately suspended him and ordered him to undergo sensitivity training. Sensitivity training? Re-education? What is this, Communist China?
And Michael Sam was only a 7th round draft pick - IOW, he may not even make the team when all is said and done.

With that being said - this is likely CONDITIONING the masses, to start with, to further get them(in particular the sports fan base) to accept sodomy. So ultimately, don't be surprised if months from now, a "star" player like a quarterback or wide receiver "comes out of the closet" - by then, these same non-sodomite sports fan will likely accept them.(after being conditioned for a long, long time)

Pt being that this is probably another crafty way the pro-sodomite lobby is amassing a militant - not only from sodomites, but from among the non-sodomite crowd(like football fans) as well. Personally, I watch these sports game - but at the same time you can't deny sports is entertainment and part of the lusts of the flesh. IOW - don't be surprised if/when more sodomite players start making themselves known, you'll see these same sports fan bases acting defensive when Christians start to expose this wickedness.

Panel: Baker must make cakes for gay weddings
5/30/14

DENVER (AP) — Colorado's Civil Rights Commission on Friday ordered a baker to make wedding cakes for same-sex couples, finding his religious objections to the practice did not trump the state's anti-discrimination statutes.

The unanimous ruling from the seven-member commission upheld an administrative law judge's finding in December that Jack Phillips violated civil rights law when he refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple in 2012. The couple sued.

"I can believe anything I want, but if I'm going to do business here, I'd ought to not discriminate against people," Commissioner Raju Jaram said.

Phillips, a devout Christian who owns the Masterpiece Cakeshop in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, said the decision violates his First Amendment rights to free speech and free exercise of his religion. "I will stand by my convictions until somebody shuts me down," he told reporters after the ruling.

He added his bakery has been so overwhelmed by supporters eager to buy cookies and brownies that he does not currently make wedding cakes.

The couple who sued Phillips, Dave Mullins and Charlie Craig, were pleased that the commission roundly rejected Phillips' arguments. "We're just thrilled by that," Mullins said.

Gay marriage remains illegal in Colorado. Mullins and Craig were married in Massachusetts and wanted a wedding cake for a reception to celebrate their union back home in Colorado.

State law prohibits businesses from refusing to serve customers based on their sexual orientation.

The panel issued its ruling verbally. It ordered Phillips to stop discriminating against gay people and to report quarterly for two years on staff anti-discrimination training and any customers he refuses to serve.

Phillips' attorney said she was considering appealing the ruling to the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Colorado Bakery Opposed To Gay Marriage Gets Out Of The Wedding Cake Business
5/31/14

The Colorado bakery that was ordered to bake a cake for a same-sex ceremony apparently is no longer making cakes for any weddings.

In December, a state judge found that Masterpiece Cakeshop in the Denver area cannot legally refuse service to a customer — in this case, declining to sell a wedding cake — on the basis of sexual orientation. Despite the store owner’s religious objections, his policy violated Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act, the judge concluded.

Owner Jack Phillips appealed the judge’s ruling to the seven-member Colorado Civil Rights Commission, which yesterday unanimously upheld the judge’s decision.

Anyone interested in buying a wedding cake from Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Lakewood will be out of luck as a result. “[The ruling] prompted Phillips to decide he would no longer make any wedding cakes. He said he would be fine selling cupcakes for a birthday party for someone who is gay but added, ‘I don’t want to participate in a same-sex wedding.’”

As part of the commission’s decision, the bakery will be required “to change its policy, provide staff training, and report quarterly to confirm that the business does not turn away customers due to sexual orientation.”

Colorado currently does not recognize same-sex marriage.

Phillips, a devout Christian who doesn’t believe in gay marriage, is considering an appeal to a higher court. His attorney, Nicolle Martin, claimed that state officials are violating Phillips’ freedom of religion and of speech under the First Amendment and that “A human rights tribunal has no authority to trump the United States Constitution.” Added Phillips, “I will stand by my convictions until somebody shuts me down.”

The bakery reportedly is making plenty of money selling cakes for other occasions, as well as cupcakes and cookies.

The couple whose experience prompted the case said they were thrilled with the Civil Rights Commission decision, but vowed not to do business with Masterpiece Cakeshop. Said David Mullins, “We’ve already been discriminated against. The whole point of this case … is that the next time a gay couple wanders in and asks for a wedding cake, they won’t have the same experience that we had. They will have a professional experience and will feel they were respected.”

Setting aside your views on same-sex marriage and/or the First Amendment if possible, it’s likely that there are many bakeries in the Denver area. In general, when a consumer is unhappy with store a, the consumer often takes his or her business to store b or store c. As a practical matter, would that approach have been better or worse in this instance, rather than getting the courts involved?

Houston Mayor Forces All to Open Girls Rooms to Men
5/29/14
http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Texas/2014/05/28/Houston-Mayor-Forces-All-to-Open-Girls-Rooms-to-Men

HOUSTON, Texas—Houston’s bathrooms, showers, and dressing facilities will now be open to all, regardless of gender, gender identity, gender expression, or other predilection of gender behavior. By an 11-6 vote of the Houston City Council, Mayor Annise Parker achieved this as the crowning jewel of her tenure as mayor.

Mayor Parker, Houston’s first openly gay mayor, said passing this ordinance was not the most important thing she has done in office, according to an article in the Fairfield Citizen, but it is the “most personally meaningful thing I will ever do as mayor.”

Houston Council Member, At Large Position 3, Michael Kubosh took exception to this. Kubosh told KPRC TV, "It's going to criminalize people that have been found in violation in the ordinance and the fine could be between $500 to $5,000."

In an interview with Breitbart Texas, Kubosh said, “The system is flawed and has little, if any, transparency. I did everything I could do to get the ordinance delayed or defeated, but the mayor controlled the whole process.” Kubosh said he voted against the ordinance along with District A Council Member Brenda Stardig, District D Council Member Dwight Boykins, District E Council Member Dave Martin, District G Council Member Oliver Pennington and At Large Position 5 Council Member Jack Christi.

Stephen Costello, the At Large Position 1 Council Member who supported Mayor Parker on the Proposition 1 “Rain Tax” ordinance, joined ten other council members in standing beside Mayor Parker.

The ordinance was strongly opposed by many black pastors, members of the Houston Area Pastors Council. 150 pastors from the conservative group representing a diverse coalition, ethnically and denominationally, angrily walked out of the council meeting today after two prominent African American pastors who represented the group were snubbed by the council body. According to a press release obtained by Breitbart Texas, Council Member Boykins asked to have two black pastors, Willie Davis and Max Miller, to be allowed to be moved up in the speakers list and speak out against the ordinance.  It is a common practice by council members and one that is rarely opposed by other members.

In fact, Council Member Mike Laster had just previously been allowed the same courtesy to be extended to move up four pro-GLBT speakers in the order to speak before eight members plus Mayor Parker voted against Boykin’s request. One of the black pastors called it the equivalent of being “sent to the back of the bus.” After the public snubbing of the two black pastors by council, the 150 plus pastors present walked out of the meeting in protest. Immediately after this the council allowed another pro-GLBT speaker to be moved up. Council Member Bradford was the member who voiced the objection to Boykins’ request and called for the vote. Standard protocol is usually to allow the courtesy by unanimous consent.

“It was one of the most flagrantly disrespectful actions taken by an elected body toward its own constituency I have witnessed in over thirty years of involvement,” said Rev. Dave Welch on behalf of the pastors’ coalition involving eight major denominational and inter-denominational pastor networks.

Rev. Welch said:

It was clear that enough council members had decided to vote with Annise Parker’s personal agenda over the clear will of the people and basic decency in this act of thumbing their nose at respected Black clergy who represented all of us. Our only way of showing that we understood what had happened and to respond effectively was to vote with our legs.

Despite this, Council Member Boykin was the only black council member to stand with the black pastors and vote against the ordinance. District B Council Member Jerry Davis and At Large Position 4 Council Member C.O. Bradford voted in favor of the ordinance.

Of the three council members who are presumed to be considering running to replace Parker as mayor when her final term expires, Kubosh and Pennington voted no and Costello voted with Mayor Parker as a yes vote.

“We are very enthused by the massive coming together of pastors and churches in every corner of Houston,” Rev. Welch concluded. “However, we recognize that some council members will choose today to reject good government, common decency, protecting our women and children and ultimately the clear will of over 80% of Houston citizens by voting with Mayor Parker. We were prepared for that contingency and are ready to roll out a referendum to let the people vote. They chose to be against us, not the other way around.  Once we correct this grievous act through the ballot this Fall, we will then remind those members that patronizing a tiny interest group and outgoing mayor instead of serving the people leads to a short political career.”

Breitbart Texas previously reported about prior council meetings about the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO). Lana Shadwick wrote in detail about previous testimony before the city council and about the community protest held in regards to defeating the ordinance. Council Member Kubosh sat down for an exclusive interview on the topic with this writer. Because of the controversy surrounding this ordinance and the manner in which Mayor Parker handled the process, many are considering a recall action against the Mayor and/or some supporting council members.

Boston pride parade features anti-Catholic group

A traditional values group is taking aim at corporate sponsors of Saturday's homosexual "pride" parade in Boston.

The grand marshal of this year's parade is the anti-Catholic group called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Brian Camenker of MassResistance is familiar with the group.

"The group is made up of homosexual men who dress up in these gaudy costumes as Catholic nuns and they give themselves obscene names, which I won't repeat," he says. "And they do obscene things, mostly with homosexual themes to them, regarding Jesus and other Catholic imagery and Christian imagery."

Major politicians, including Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, will be in the parade.

"And major corporations are a part of this," Camenker continues. "Bank of America and Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Google, Johnson & Johnson, Macy's, Staples, and others." Walmart, Marriott, and Starbucks are also listed as sponsors.

Camenker says people who oppose the homosexual lifestyle will stay home from the parade as per usual, but what they can do is contact the sponsors and let them know you don't appreciate it.

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/06/gay-marriage-human-rights-campaign-poll-108007.html
Poll: No gay marriage ‘revolt’ coming
6/18/14

The Human Rights Campaign is welcoming the National Organization for Marriage to Washington Thursday with a poll conducted by Mitt Romney’s former data director showing just how far the majority of Americans are now from their anti-gay marriage views.

The poll was conducted to coincide with NOM’s rally near the Capitol and march to the Supreme Court, followed by a gala at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel.

Conducted by Alex Lundry through his firm TargetPoint Consulting and obtained by POLITICO, it singled out the views of one person, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, who predicted in 2012 — before Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act were struck down — that the Supreme Court legalizing gay marriage would cause “a revolution. You will see Americans saying, ‘You know what? Enough of this.’ It could explode and just break this nation apart."

Conducting his poll at the beginning of June, Lundry didn’t find much support for that kind of revolt when the quote was read to respondents, with 59 percent overall disagreeing with Perkins. Of people who said they were opposed to gay marriage, 58 percent said they wouldn’t do anything, despite disagreeing and being disappointed in the decision.

“Only one directly mentions the word ‘revolution,’ five voters threaten to leave the country, and a scant fifteen people (3% of opponents) mention any form of protest,” reads a prepared polling memo. “Clearly, there is no real threat of widespread calamity should we extend the freedom to marry to gays and lesbians.”

Support for gay marriage is at 56 percent, with 37 percent opposed, squaring with public polls. Asked to rate the degree of their support, 44 percent said they “strongly” support legalization, with only 28 percent opposed.

Trying for a different measure, the poll also asked people to ask how much money they’d be willing to put toward the effort of either stopping or increasing legalization. On average, supporters said they’d be willing to pay $8,500 whereas opponents would only pay $2,600.

Those feelings are reflected in some of the other answers to the survey: 74 percent of people said their lives wouldn’t change with legalized gay marriage, and among those who did foresee a change, many rated it as one that would be for the better.

The NOM rally and the release of the HRC poll Thursday come as LGBT advocates head to the White House for a meeting about President Barack Obama’s decision to sign a new executive order banning LGBT workplace discrimination and a Justice Department report about the administration’s efforts to broadly interpret last year’s Windsor decision striking down the Defense of Marriage Act is scheduled for release.

http://thegospelcoalition.org/article/9-things-you-should-know-about-transgenderism
9 Things You Should Know About Transgenderism
6/17/14

Transgenderism has been a frequently discussed topic over the past few weeks. On May 30, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services review board ruled that Medicare can pay for the "reassignment" surgery sought by the transgendered. A few days later Time magazine's cover story on the "transgender tipping point" declared the social movement is "poised to challenge deeply held cultural beliefs." And last week the Southern Baptist Convention, America's largest Protestant denomination, overwhelmingly passed a resolution titled “On Transgender Identity.” Since the topic will be coming up for some time to come, here are nine things you should know about transgenderism.

1. Transgenderism is an umbrella term for the state or condition of identifying or expressing a gender identity that does not match a person's physical/genetic sex. Transgender is independent of sexual orientation, and those who self-identify as transgender may consider themselves to be heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, or asexual. Approximately 700,000 individuals in the U.S. identify as transgender.

2. Transgenderism differs from intersex, a variation in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, or genitals that do not allow an individual to be distinctly identified as male or female. Intersex is a physical condition while transgender is a psychological condition. The vast majority of people with intersex conditions identify as male or female rather than transgender or transsexual. (The term "hermaphrodite" is now considered outdated, inaccurate, and offensive as a reference to people who are intersex.)

3. The terms transgender, transsexual, and transvestite are not synonymous. Transsexual is a narrower term used to refer to people who identify as the opposite of their birth gender designation, regardless of whether they have undergone or intend to undergo hormone replacement therapy and/or sex reassignment surgery. A transvestite is a person who cross-dresses, or dresses in clothes of the opposite sex, though they may not identify with, or want to be the opposite gender. All transexuals are transgender, but transvestites do not necessarily fall into either of the other categories.

4. The LGBTQIA community considers gender to be a trait that exists along a continuum. Transgenders can thus be bigender (move between feminine and masculine gender-typed behavior depending on context), trigender (shifting between male, female, and a third gender), pangender (all genders at once), genderqueer (a catchall for people who consider themselves any of the subsets of transgender, such as genderless, pangender, etc.).

5. The term cisgender is used to refer to individuals who have a match between the gender they were assigned at birth, their bodies, and their personal identity. Cisgender is often used within the LGBTQIA community to refer to people who are not transgender.

6. In the 1960s Johns Hopkins University became the first American medical center to offer "sex-reassignment surgery." But they later stopped performing the procedure after a study on transgendered people in the 1970s. The study compared the outcomes of transgendered people who had the surgery with the outcomes of those who did not. Most of the surgically treated patients described themselves as "satisfied" by the results, but their subsequent psycho-social adjustments were no better than those who didn't have the surgery. As Dr. McHugh, former psychiatrist in chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, explains, "at Hopkins we stopped doing sex-reassignment surgery, since producing a "satisfied" but still troubled patient seemed an inadequate reason for surgically amputating normal organs."

7. When children who reported transgender feelings were tracked without medical or surgical treatment at both Vanderbilt University and London's Portman Clinic, 70-80 percent of them spontaneously lost those feelings. Some 25 percent did have persisting feelings, notes Dr. McHugh, but what differentiates those individuals remains to be discerned. Despite such studies several states—including California, New Jersey and Massachusetts—have passed laws barring psychiatrists, even with parental permission, from striving to restore natural gender feelings to a transgender minor.

8. A 2011 study at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden followed 324 people who had sex-reassignment surgery (191 male-to-females, 133 female-to-males) from 1973 to 2003. The overall rate of death was higher than expected, with suicide being the leading cause. Those who had the sex-change surgery were almost 20 times more likely to take their own lives than the non-transgender population. They were also more likely to seek in-house treatment for psychiatric conditions.

9. At the heart of the problem is confusion over the nature of the transgendered, says McHugh. "'Sex change' is biologically impossible," he adds. "People who undergo sex-reassignment surgery do not change from men to women or vice versa. Rather, they become feminized men or masculinized women. Claiming that this is civil-rights matter and encouraging surgical intervention is in reality to collaborate with and promote a mental disorder."

Gay Men and the Presidents Who Loved Them

Presidents have long had gay advisers. But it’s only recently that the leader of the free world has felt secure enough to let it be known that he’s friends with friends of Dorothy.

Sometimes the significance of an item in the news can sometimes be measured by how little attention it attracts. To see how far the cause of gay rights has progressed in such a remarkably short period of time, consider the following sentence buried in an otherwise banal Associated Press report about Barack and Michelle Obama’s vacation plans over the recent Father’s Day Weekend in Rancho Mirage, California. “They are staying with White House decorator Michael Smith and his partner, U.S. Ambassador to Spain James Costos, at their vacation home.”

Not long ago, the notion of the First Couple spending a long weekend with a gay one, let alone advertising it to the press, would have presented the White House Chief of Staff with a PR headache. Would the public read too much into it? Would it signal support for same-sex marriage? How will it play in Peoria? Now, nobody bats an eye.

American presidents have long had gay friends and advisers, many of whom have occupied positions not so stereotypically swish as White House decorator. One could conceivably start the list with William King, who served as vice president to Franklin Pierce, and is speculated by some historians to have been the lover of President James Buchanan. More often than not, however, their homosexuality was a closely guarded secret, revealed unintentionally or as a result of embarrassing scandal. It is only very recently that the leader of the free world has felt secure enough to let it be known that he’s friends with friends of Dorothy.

Washington has long attracted a disproportionate number of gay people, a phenomenon that really took off with the city’s massive expansion as the seat of federal bureaucracy during World War II. (The Advocate magazine recently lauded Washington as the most gay-friendly city in the country and The New York Times, utilizing census data, has deemed it the “gayest place in America.”) Government service often requires long hours away from home and unquestioning loyalty to one’s boss, job requirements that gay men in particular, generally free from the constraints of traditional family life, have been adept at filling. Here is a (by no means exhaustive) list of presidents and some of their gay consiglieres:

Dwight Eisenhower and Arthur Vandenberg Jr.

Arthur Vandenberg Jr., the son of a Michigan senator, was preparing to start a senior job in the administration of incoming President Dwight Eisenhower when the FBI informed him that his future as a White House staffer was not to be. J. Edgar Hoover, the agency’s director, had come into possession of compromising material about Vandenberg, information he was keeping as part of the Sex Deviates Program that would ruin the careers of thousands of gay men and women (as well as those whose homosexuality was merely presumed) over the course of nearly 25 years. “Arthur wasn’t a fighter,” wrote Dudley Clendinen, Vandenberg’s godson. “He folded. He checked into a hospital, complaining of stomach problems, and resigned the appointment for ‘health reasons’ three months after Eisenhower’s inauguration.”

In a May, 1953 letter to Vandenberg, Eisenhower wrote, “I want to make the personal request that whenever you may come to this city you make it a habit to give my office a ring, so that we may arrange at least a short meeting.” Three years later, the scandal magazine Confidential, likely working in collusion with the FBI, published an expose of Vandenberg’s alleged gay trysts. Despite all his work on Eisenhower’s successful presidential campaign, Vandenberg was relegated to a footnote in Eisenhower’s memoir.

John F. Kennedy and Lem Billings and Joe Alsop

From his schoolboy days at the tony New England prep school Choate until his death by an assassin’s bullet 30 years later in Dallas, John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s best friend was Kirk LeMoyne Billings, also known as “Lem.” According to Jack and Lem, a 2008 book about their friendship, Billings made a pass at the future president while the two were students. “I’m not that kind of boy,” Kennedy told him. Most men in that place and time—it was the early 1930s—would have ended the relationship immediately. But the two remained close, traveling through Europe after graduating from high school (Joe Kennedy Sr. referred to Billings as “a second son.”) Billings worked on Kennedy’s successful 1960 presidential campaign, but declined prestigious job offers including leadership of the newly created Peace Corps. Nonetheless, he was such a frequent visitor to the White House during the Kennedy administration that he had his own room.

Though Billings was discreet about his sexual orientation, it was well known throughout Washington. Kennedy’s unconcern about Billings crashing 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue most weekends might have been due to the fact that, as an infamous lothario himself, he didn’t worry that close friendship with a gay man would generate suspicions of homosexuality.

JFK’s other gay friend was one of the most famous men in Washington at the time, but also one of its most closeted. Joseph Alsop was a distant cousin of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and, with his brother Stewart, penned a thrice-weekly column, “Matter of Fact,” which appeared in some 200 newspapers across the country. A virulent anti-communist and ardent supporter of the Vietnam War, Alsop was the most prominent journalist to push the supposed “missile gap” between the Soviet Union and America, a term skillfully used by Kennedy to paint the incumbent Eisenhower administration and its vice president, presidential contender Richard Nixon, as soft on communism. Alsop’s exterior toughness against the Soviets, which masked a deep secret, has led some historians to conclude that he was compensating for his hidden homosexuality. “During his early career as a congressman, Jack had been a guest at a number of Alsop’s dinner parties, until his flippant remark that there never seemed to be any pretty girls in attendance irritated Alsop, who cut off further invitations,” writes Barbara Lemming, author of a biography of Jackie Kennedy.

On a 1957 trip to Moscow, Alsop was entrapped by a handsome young KGB spy and the incident was caught on camera. Confronted with the evidence, Alsop refused to become a Soviet spy, and immediately told his editors and the CIA about what had happened. Such was the Washington rumor mill at the time and the nature of the capital “E” Establishment, that many powerful people in the capital, including Kennedy, knew about Alsop’s secret but refused to divulge it. When, in 1970, after a particularly bruising series of anti-Soviet columns, the Russians sent envelopes containing photos of the 1957 encounter to Washington journalists—including two of Alsop’s many nemeses—none of the recipients publicized the information. Columnist Art Buchwald, then engaged in a long-running feud with Alsop, tore the photos up.

Lyndon B. Johnson and Walter Jenkins

Decades before Idaho Senator Larry Craig’s political career would end in shame over a foot-tapping scandal in an airport restroom, there was the sad case of Walter Jenkins. Lyndon B. Johnson once referred to Jenkins as “my Vice President in Charge of Everything.” Jenkins joined Johnson’s employ at the age of 21 when the latter was a congressman, and served alongside him for his entire adult life. On October 7, 1964, Jenkins attended a Newsweek magazine party celebrating the opening of its bureau in Washington, D.C. Tipsy, he walked to the YMCA near the White House.

The bathroom, a notorious cruising scene at the time, was under surveillance by D.C. police, who arrested Jenkins and his sex partner almost immediately after the two entered a toilet stall. Hoping the matter would go away (he had been arrested, in the same bathroom, in 1959), Jenkins pleaded guilty to the charge of lewd conduct and didn’t even hire a lawyer. But the story inevitably broke in the press. “There can be no place on the White House staff or in the upper echelons of government for a person of markedly deviant behavior,” remarked the now-stridently pro-gay New York Times editorial board. Jenkins promptly resigned and checked into a hospital for “exhaustion.”

Richard Nixon and… Nobody

Thanks to recently released transcripts of Richard Nixon’s White House conversations, we know for sure what had been long-suspected: that in addition to blacks, Jews and other minority groups, Nixon wasn’t particularly fond of gays. Discussing the popular television program All in the Family, Nixon was incredulous at a positive portrayal of gay characters. “They were glorifying homosexuality!” he exclaimed in a 1971 conversation with advisers John Ehrlichman and Bob Haldeman. “You ever see what happened, you know what happened to the Greeks? Homosexuality destroyed them. Aristotle was a homo. So was Socrates.” After Ehrlichman, ever the obsequious minion, egged on his boss by remarking that the Greek philosopher “never had the influence that television has,” the pseudo-historian president replies indignantly that, “The last six Roman emperors were fags. You see, homosexuality, immorality in general, these are the enemies of strong societies. That’s why the communists and the left-wingers are pushing it. They’re trying to destroy us.”

With these views, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Nixon did not have any known, openly gay friends or advisers. But a 2011 book speculates that Nixon may have had a gay affair. In Nixon’s Darkest Secrets: The Inside Story of America’s Most Troubled President, author Don Fulsom speculates that Nixon had a relationship of a “possibly homosexual nature” with his best friend, Charles “Bebe” Rebozo. Fulsom proffered little evidence to buttress his claim; a former Time magazine reporter who claimed to have seen the men holding hands under a dinner table, another journalist who saw Nixon put his arm around Rebozo “the way you’d cuddle your senior prom date.” Mark Feldstein, author of another book about Nixon and a journalism professor at the University of Maryland, attributed this most improbable of historical outings as the result of gossip refracted through the controversies of our cultural moment, coming as it did amidst a time when “homosexuality has come out of the closet and same-sex marriage has become a prominent part of the legislative agenda in many places.”

Gerald Ford and Oliver Sipple

Gerald Ford and his gay best friend sealed their bond on September 22, 1975. On that day, five-time divorcee Sarah Jane Moore pulled a gun on the president as he exited the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco (it was a bad month for Ford, just three weeks earlier, another disturbed woman, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, tried to assassinate him in San Francisco, but a Secret Service Agent forced the gun from her hand). Had Oliver Sipple not grabbed Moore’s hand as she fired, directing the bullet away from the president, Ford likely would have been gravely injured, if not killed.

Sipple’s homosexuality was revealed by San Francisco Chronicle columnist Herb Caen, who had heard the ex-Marine was a friend of Harvey Milk, an openly gay man then running for a seat on the city’s Board of Supervisors. In the Mayor of Castro Street, his biography of Milk, author Randy Shilts reported that that the budding politician thought the world should know of Sipple’s sexual orientation so that “for once we can show that gays can do heroic things.”

That a gay man would save a president’s life was ironic. Just three years earlier, newspaper columnist Jack Anderson revealed that the Secret Service had compiled a list of 400 organizations that it monitored “to prevent political assassinations.” On the list: the Gay Liberation Front
.

Ronald Reagan and Rock Hudson

Ronald and Nancy Reagan became friends with many gay people during their years in Hollywood. One of the most prominent was Rock Hudson, the matinee idol whose public image as a heartthrob disguised his homosexuality. In 1984, Hudson was diagnosed with HIV, a fact that he would not disclose until over a year later. This was at a time when the disease had just begun to ravage the gay community and many were criticizing the Reagan administration for its slow response to the epidemic. The following July, Hudson traveled to Paris for medical treatment and announced, through a publicist, that he had AIDS.

While President Reagan made no official statement about his friend’s illness (his first public reference to the disease was in September 1985, over two years after its existence had been reported on by The New York Times), he called Hudson at the hospital in Paris and his wife phoned then-French President Francois Mitterand to guarantee that her friend was receiving top-notch treatment. A 2003 television docudrama initially planned to air on CBS, The Reagans, portrayed Reagan as a virulent homophobe who tells Nancy, in a conversation about AIDS patients, “They that live in sin shall die in sin.” When the script leaked, Hudson’s former lover Marc Christian wrote an open letter to CBS television President Les Moonves, explaining, “The notion that President Reagan was a homophobe strikes me as silly beyond belief… The point is Reagan could have ignored Rock’s illness and didn’t.”

George H.W. Bush: First President to serve as witness to same-sex marriage

George H.W. Bush effectively became the fourth sitting or former U.S. President to endorse gay marriage (following presidents Carter, Clinton and Obama) when, with his wife, Barbara, he served as an official witness at the wedding of Bonnie Clement and Helen Thorgalsen. (This leaves his son, George W. Bush, as the only living ex-president not to support gay marriage.) His office tried to downplay any attempt at deciphering a political message from the event, with a representative issuing a statement that the Bushes “were private citizens attending a private ceremony for two friends.” The lesbian pair owns a general goods store in Kennebunkport, Maine, where the Bush family has long maintained a vacation residence.

Bill Clinton and David Mixner

David Mixner met Bill Clinton in 1969 when the two men were young activists in the anti-war and civil rights movements, and was immediately entranced. “His extraordinary talent for ‘connecting’ was irresistible,” Mixner wrote in his memoir, Stranger Among Friends. From that moment, Mixner dedicated himself to Clinton’s political career, working on his every election from a 1974 congressional race to his 1992 presidential victory. But Mixner would come to feel betrayal almost immediately once Clinton passed the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” regulation banning openly gay people serving in the military, after having specifically promised to lift such restrictions. Mixner protested the law and was arrested outside the White House. The two later made amends, but Mixner supported Barack Obama over Clinton’s wife, Hillary, in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary.

George W. Bush and Charles Francis

Charles Francis came out to his friend, then-Texas Governor George W. Bush, in a letter. His brother had served as Bush’s campaign chairman and Francis figured he could leverage his personal connection to the governor to help further the cause of gay rights among Republicans. “The day he got the letter, he called me,” Francis told Out magazine in 2001. “Our friendship couldn’t be stronger.” Francis famously organized a meeting for Bush with a group of gay Republicans (dubbed “The Austin 12”) during the 2000 presidential campaign, from which Bush emerged saying he had become “a better person.” Francis later founded the Republican Unity Coalition, a group of gay and straight Republicans that claimed Mary Cheney and former Wyoming Senator Alan Simpson as members.

But, like Mixner, Francis’s friendship with a president would be tested once politics entered the fray. In 2004, Bush endorsed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage—leading many of the prominent gay Republicans who met with him four years earlier to renounce their support for his re-election. “The stampede you hear will be 1 million gay voters who voted for President Bush—gone, and their families gone, and their friends gone,” an indignant Francis told the San Francisco Chronicle that year. Francis dropped his GOP registration and has since reconstituted the Washington Mattachine Society, one of the country’s first gay-rights organizations, dedicated to “archive activism” that exposes, through official documentation, the federal government’s historic persecution of gay people.

Biden: Gay rights take precedence over culture
6/24/14

WASHINGTON (AP) — Seeking to mobilize a global front against anti-gay violence and discrimination, Vice President Joe Biden declared Tuesday that protecting gay rights is a defining mark of a civilized nation and must trump national cultures and social traditions.

Biden told a gathering of U.S. and international gay rights advocates that President Barack Obama has directed that U.S. diplomacy and foreign assistance promote the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender men and women around the world

"I don't care what your culture is," Biden told about 100 guests at the Naval Observatory's vice presidential mansion. "Inhumanity is inhumanity is inhumanity. Prejudice is prejudice is prejudice."

With anti-gay laws taking root in nearly 80 countries, Biden and other top White House officials met with religious, human rights and HIV health care advocates in a forum dedicated to promoting gay rights internationally.

Biden, who has emerged as a leading gay rights advocate within the Obama administration ever since he got ahead of Obama in declaring his support for gay marriage, said that across U.S government agencies officials have been instructed to make the promotion of gay rights abroad a priority.

Where countries fail to move toward protections of LGBT people, he warned, "there is a price to pay for being inhumane." Among those at the evening reception were leading gay rights activists and the ambassadors from Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland.

Earlier Tuesday, White House National Security Adviser Susan Rice cast the protection of gays from global discrimination, abuse and even death as one of the most challenging international human rights issue facing the United States. Biden called gay rights "the civil rights issue of our day."

"To achieve lasting global change, we need everyone's shoulder at the wheel," she said. "With more voices to enrich and amplify the message — the message that gay rights are straight-up human rights — we can open more minds."

Rice cautioned that the effort is difficult because laws limiting gay rights in some countries enjoy strong popular support. But she said cultural differences do not excuse human rights violations.

"Governments are responsible for protecting the rights of all citizens, and it is incumbent upon the state, and on each of us, to foster tolerance and to reverse the tide of discrimination," Rice said.

Last week, the U.S. imposed visa bans on Ugandan officials who are involved in corruption and are violating the rights of gay people and others. Uganda passed a law in February that strengthened criminal penalties for gay sex and made life sentences possible for those convicted of breaking the law.

During his trip to Africa last year, Obama, while in Senegal, urged African leaders to extend equal rights to gays and lesbians. Senegal's president, however, pushed back, saying his country "still isn't ready" to decriminalize homosexuality. Seven countries have laws imposing death sentences for gay sex and Brunei is on track to becoming the eighth one.

Tuesday's forum was the latest administrative attempt by Obama to promote gay and lesbian rights both in the United States and abroad. Obama successfully pushed to repeal the ban on gays serving openly in the military and his administration stopped defending the Defense of Marriage Act years before the Supreme Court took it up.

Earlier this month, Obama announced he will sign an executive order banning federal contractors from discriminating against employees based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Last week, it also granted new benefits to same-sex couples, including those who live in states where gay marriage is against the law.

Oops! Pat Sajak Asks Gay 'Wheel Of Fortune' Contestant About Woman He's Going To Marry

This time it wasn't a contestant committing a big flub on "Wheel of Fortune." Host Pat Sajak did the honors instead.

While introducing player T.K. Klotz during an episode that aired Thursday, the host noted that Klotz was engaged. "Some woman has agreed to marry you," he said to the contestant. "Some gentleman," Klotz corrected.

As you can see in the clip above, things got a little awkward, but Sajak handled the gaffe with aplomb. A commenter who appeared to be Klotz told Deadspin that Sajak apologized during the commercial break.

Some reaction on Facebook wasn't as forgiving of Sajak. "He can't be that dumb," one user wrote.

The mistake took on uncomfortable context. In April, Sajak raised eyebrows by sending out a sarcastic tweet proclaiming his heterosexuality.

"It might be seen as just a likely ribbing at the recent spate of celebrity outings, except that Sajak is a serious right-winger" who has donated to Republican candidates, NewNowNext wrote.

http://news.yahoo.com/new-nixon-recordings-reveal-both-nuanced-and-odd-beliefs--gay-men-and--born-that-way--and--girls-don-t-swear-190019802.html

Newly released Nixon tapes reveal nuanced beliefs on gays
Gay men ‘born that way’ and ‘girls don’t swear’

7/11/14

Despite President Richard Nixon's conservative poltical stance, it seems he had a relatively progressive opinion of gays and limited exposure to girls who curse.

On Thursday, Vanity Fair released excerpts from 3,700 hours of audio recordings made during Nixon’s first term in the White House. While past Nixon recordings have focused on Watergate and his eventual resignation, these excerpts reveal a president musing on a number of topics.

The new recordings are just the latest insight into the fractured presidency and life of a man who continues to capture the public’s attention nearly 40 years after he left the White House and 20 years since his death.

Nixon’s thoughts on whether homosexuality is a genetic or learned behavior are surprisingly liberal considering both that time in history and that Nixon had expressed offensive views on race, gender and culture in other recordings.

Of course, the excerpts also contain unusual and unsubstantiated theories on gays from Nixon, including his apparent belief that groups such as the Boy Scouts, the YMCA and teachers “bring them in that direction.”

Here’s Nixon’s full exchange on “the gay thing” with national security adviser Henry Kissinger and chief of staff H.R. Haldeman:

Nixon: Let me say something before we get off the gay thing. I don’t want my views misunderstood. I am the most tolerant person on that of anybody in this shop. They have a problem. They’re born that way. You know that. That’s all. I think they are. Anyway, my point is, though, when I say they’re born that way, the tendency is there. [But] my point is that Boy Scout leaders, YMCA leaders, and others bring them in that direction, and teachers. And if you look over the history of societies, you will find, of course, that some of the highly intelligent people ... Oscar Wilde, Aristotle, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, were all homosexuals. Nero, of course, was, in a public way, in with a boy in Rome.

Haldeman: There’s a whole bunch of Roman emperors...

Nixon: But the point is, look at that, once a society moves in that direction, the vitality goes out of that society. Now, isn’t that right, Henry?

    Kissinger: Well—

Nixon: Do you see any other change, anywhere where it doesn’t fit?

Kissinger: That’s certainly been the case in antiquity. The Romans were notorious—

    Haldeman: The Greeks.

    Kissinger: —homosexuals. . . .

Nixon: The Greeks. And they had plenty of it. ... By God, I am not going to have a situation where we pass along a law indicating, “Well, now, kids, just go out and be gay.” They can do it. Just leave them alone. That’s a lifestyle I don't want to touch.

The new recordings are being released just two years after an acclaimed documentary, “Our Nixon,” was released, highlighting more than 500 hours of previously unseen Super 8 camera footage captured by Nixon aides.

Vanity Fair contributing editor Douglas Brinkley and historian Luke A. Nichter are compiling the audiotapes, which have been cleaned up and enhanced, into a new book that provides further insight into the strange and often provocative musings captured on tape during Nixon’s abbreviated presidency.

In a later exchange recorded in April 1971, Nixon appears to register some surprise when told that women swear just like their male counterparts:

Nixon: Why is it that the girls don’t swear? Because a man, when he swears, people can’t tolerate a girl who is a—

    Haldeman: Girls do swear.

    Nixon: Huh?

    Haldeman: They do now.

Nixon: Oh, they do now? But, nevertheless, it removes something from them. They don’t even realize it. A man drunk, and a man who swears, people will tolerate and say that’s a sign of masculinity or some other damn thing. We all do it. We all swear. But you show me a girl that swears and I’ll show you an awful unattractive person. ... I mean, all femininity is gone. And none of the smart girls do swear, incidentally.

Editor Fired for Criticizing ‘Queen James Bible’ on Personal Blog Files Federal Complaint

A newspaper editor who was fired earlier this year for opining on his personal blog that the Queen James Bible is an attempt by homosexuals “to make their sinful nature ‘right with God’” has filed a complaint with the federal government.

As previously reported, Bob Eschliman has worked as the editor of the Newton Daily News since 2012, and has served as the publisher of the Clarinda Herald-Journal. But he found himself out of a job this past May when he spoke his mind about the Queen James Bible on his personal blog.

“It’s pretty easy to brush off a nonsensical contrived version of the Bible, but that’s not the deceivers’ end goal,” Eschliman wrote. “No, they want all Christendom to abandon their faith. They do that by ‘proselytizing’ to church leaders to change their view on homosexuality.”

“[Jesus] said there would be deceivers. He said those deceivers would cause Christians who remain true to His teachings to become reviled. He said false prophets would follow to deceive even more, and that lawlessness will abound,” he continued. “If you ask me, it sounds like the Gaystapo is well on its way. We must fight back against the enemy.”

However, journalist and commentator Jim Romenesko then picked up on Eschliman’s post and wrote about it in an online article entitled Iowa Newspaper Blasts the ‘Enemy Gaystapo’ and the ‘LGBTQXYZ’ Crowd.

Romenesko outlined in his brief report that he emailed Eschliman and inquired if he could report about homosexuality objectively because of his published views. Eschliman ignored Romenesko’s correspondence, but removed the post from his blog.

The Newton Daily News then reported shortly thereafter that management had learned of Eschliman’s comments and placed him on suspension. Days later, Eschliman was officially fired.

Shaw Media President John Rung, who owns the publication, issued a statement about the matter, asserting that Eschliman’s views could have harmed the newspaper’s reputation.

“Last week, Mr. Eschliman expressed an opinion on his personal blog that in no way reflects the opinion of the Newton Daily News or Shaw Media,” he commented. “While Mr. Eschliman is entitled to his opinion, his public airing of it compromised the reputation of this newspaper and his ability to lead it.”

“Mr. Eschliman has a right to voice his opinion. And we have a right to select an editor who we believe best represents our company and best serves the interests of our readers,” he added.

But now, Eschliman has filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, asserting that he was wrongfully discriminated against because of his Christian beliefs.

“To be fired for—basically, on my own time—expressing my personal and deeply-held religious views is shocking,” he told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday.

He was joined by Jeremy Dys of The Liberty Institute, a Christian legal organization in Plano, Texas, as well as former U.S. Attorney Matt Whitaker, who are providing legal assistance to Eschliman.

“No one should be fired for simply expressing his religious beliefs,” Whitaker stated. “In America, it is against the law to fire an employee for expressing a religious belief in public. This kind of religious intolerance by an employer has no place in today’s welcoming workforce.”

LGBT Activists Issue Death Threats To Children Of Oklahoma State Senator
For introducing a religious liberties bill for private business owners

Oklahoma State Senator Joseph Silk has stirred up a hornet's nest inside the LGBT community after introducing a bill (SB440) in his home state that would ensure business owners to retain the right to serve whomever they please. That is not sitting well for some in the homosexual community, who are now sending death threats to the state senator and his family.

In an interview with TruthRevolt, Silk said that since he was quoted in The New York Times Thursday saying homosexuals "don't have a right to be served in every single store," he has received hundreds of angry e-mails and phone calls from LGBT activists who believe he is sanctioning discrimination. "A couple of them have been death threats against me and my children," Silk said.

But what the NYT failed to do was include the entirety of Silk's statement -- the part where he said he also doesn't have a right to be served in every store. Silk clarified what he told the paper in a statement at his campaign website:

Yes I did say that homosexuals do not have the right to be served in every store, just as I do not believe that I, my family, or anyone else have the right to be served in every private business.

The threats even targeted a private cabin rental business Silk manages for his father. Silk said that LGBT activists were alerted in order to flood the business with angry messages promising boycotts. But as Silk explained to TR, the business has served homosexual customers before and will continue to do so in the future.

"This bill is about protecting the rights of private business owners to make their own decisions for their business and to ensure their religious beliefs are protected," Silk said. "Business owners should not be forced to serve someone if it violates their beliefs," he added.

Silk indicated that SB 440 is not unique and is based on a similar religious liberties law in nearby Kansas. So far, he said, the bill has yet to be heard in committee and has been dead for weeks. Silk explained that he went as far as reaching out to the executive director of the LGBT group Freedom Oklahoma and invited him into the office while the bill was being written as a show of transparency.

"I had Troy Stevenson to my office to try and let him know this bill was not an attack on the LGBT movement, but rather to protect people's individual religious liberties and right to live that out," Silk said.

Silk said Stevenson expressed his problem with the bill saying that a private business owner does not have the right to refuse services because of religious convictions and the meeting ended. Silk strongly suspects that Stevenson was responsible for leaking the cabin business information shortly after they met in order to encourage activists to send harassing messages. Silk said he is "very certain" it was Stevenson because "he has family ties to that community in our same industry [and] that is the only way people could know that."

The backlash unleashed on Silk and his family is largely based on the missing half of his statement, courtesy of the narrative designed by the NYT. But what the media is failing to  report -- they're too busy mocking -- is the violent threats and vitriolic language employed by LGBT activists. Silk made it clear in the interview that as a person with homosexual friends, he isn't painting his accusations broadly, but pinpointing those radical activists who will stop at nothing short of shutting down anyone who disagrees with homosexuality.

"This incident and the way it exploded into death threats should wake people up to the fact that the LGBT activist are the single most significant threat to religious and personal rights in the United States," Silk said. "They do not want people to have the right to live out their religious conviction if those convictions do not agree with their behavior."

He continued:

The LGBT activists have shown time and time again that they want to persecute, trample on people's rights, and take people's businesses if for any reason their behavior and choices are not agreed with. My family and I, like many others before, are testimonies to their hate, intolerance, and forceful nature of this movement. The sad thing is, no one is attacking their behavior. They have the right to be gay…but if you disagree with them, they will do everything in their power to ruin your life.

Arkansas follows Indiana into 'religious freedom' fight (+video)

From the NCAA to Wal-Mart and Apple, businesses around the country are objecting to Indiana’s new 'religious freedom' law, which critics say is discriminatory. Arkansas is about to pass a similar law.

Indiana was the focus of harsh news this week when Gov. Mike Pence signed a “religious freedom” act and much of the business and political world erupted in criticism.

Those opposed to the law, which allows businesses to refuse service to potential customers and clients on religious grounds, say it’s a clear shot at the LGBT community – in particular those advocating or wanting to participate in same-sex marriage.

Now, Arkansas is beginning to experience the same response. The state senate passed a similar bill, which already had been passed by the state house of representatives.  (Both chambers are Republican-controlled.) Governor Asa Hutchinson (R) says he’ll sign the law, which declares that "governments should not substantially burden the free exercise of religion without compelling justification."

Two major US companies, retailer Wal-Mart (which has its home office in Bentonville, Ark.) and Apple have made it clear where they stand.

“Every day, in our stores, we see firsthand the benefits diversity and inclusion have on our associates, customers and communities we serve. It all starts with the core basic belief of respect for the individual. And that means understanding and respecting differences and being inclusive of all people,” Wal-Mart said in a statement. “We feel this legislation is counter to this core basic belief and sends the wrong message about Arkansas.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook, referring to the measures in the two states, said in a tweet: "Apple is open for everyone. We are deeply disappointed in Indiana's new law and calling on Arkansas Gov. to veto the similar HB1228."

FWIW, I visited the TX state capitol over 3 years ago(and learned some things) - the main job of the governor is just that, bringing in business to the state.

So yes - don't be fooled by all of this dog and pony show going on...who knows the true language in these "religious freedom" bills they are passing.

Stossel: Gay Marriage Movement ‘Has Moved from Tolerance to Totalitarianism’

On Wednesday’s “The O’Reilly Factor” on the Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network anchor John Stossel weighed in on the controversies tied the same-sex marriage issue and how proponents of same-sex marriage have commandeered the debate.

Transcript as follows:

O’REILLY: “Stossel Matters Segment” tonight. With us now here in New York, John Stossel from the Fox Business Network, you see his program every Friday night.

OK. I didn’t give you an introduction because I want to just tell this to you, the introduction, just face to face, not reading a stupid teleprompter, ok? It’s right there. All right.

Now, I believe that gay Americans deserve protections specifically written into the law because of the numbers. Number one, they are very small compared to the big population and children who are homosexual or effeminate if they are boys or different get brutalized. Teenagers brutalized.

Matthew Shepard, remember the case in Wyoming killed, nailed to a fence post — all right. Only because of their sexual orientation — no other reason.

So, when you have a situation like that, a situation where we have 325 million people in this country and even if 90 percent of them are good, decent folks, that leaves 32 million people running around that can hurt you. You have got to protect.

So gay Americans deserve carved out legal protections — you disagree?

JOHN STOSSEL, FBN HOST: Well, when you say carved out special protections for them.

    O’REILLY: Yes.

    STOSSEL: Not special — yes.

O’REILLY: But the crime is elevated if you attack someone on the basis —

STOSSEL: But it’s already a crime if you attack someone.

    O’REILLY: I want it elevated.

STOSSEL: But we’ve already got all the — race, gender, religion, disability, age — all these specially protected groups. I am two of those. You better be nice to me.

    O’REILLY: Well, I always am.

But I think you understand where I’m coming from here is that there is a risk in certain areas of this country.

STOSSEL: Of course. But this is the point.

O’REILLY: And maybe a local jurisdiction won’t investigate because they don’t — they succumb to the pressure. So the federal government has to get involved. It’s the same thing on the race issue.

So, I mean I’m going to demand and I think those protections are needed.

STOSSEL: Fine. No quarrel. Look, I’m for gay marriage, but I think this movement has moved from tolerance to totalitarianism — it’s the totalitarianism of the left.

O’REILLY: I have no — you are absolutely right on that.

STOSSEL: No baker should get to stop two people from getting married to anybody they want.

O’REILLY: They can’t stop it. A baker can’t stop it.

STOSSEL: But they shouldn’t be forced to bake the cake.

    O’REILLY: I agree with you.

STOSSEL: I disagree with you and Marco Rubio. This is not about religious rights. It’s about individual freedom.

O’REILLY: All right. Well, you can carry that over.

STOSSEL: They don’t have to prove that it’s religious.

O’REILLY: No, but the baker — there has got to be a reason why. Look if a black couple comes in and the baker says I’m not going to bake the cake because you are black, that’s a crime.

STOSSEL: Given America’s history, blacks are a special case. But, your point was good about exclusivity. There are lots of places —

O’REILLY: There’s lots of places to go and if it is a religious thing.

STOSSEL: All of you, even those who think this is immoral, Hobby Lobby has to go to the Supreme Court to not pay for what it considers murder? That’s wrong.

O’REILLY: Well, the system actually worked there though.

STOSSEL: Barely. They had to spend a gazillion dollars to prove they were religious?

O’REILLY: Let’s get back to this totalitarianism, fascism that’s being imposed by the secular progressive fanatics. That’s got to be, as I told Mr. Rove, confronted. It has to be.

STOSSEL: We should have freedom of information and the way — I’m sorry freedom of association in America — and the way to fight bigotry. A bigot ought to be allowed to a bigot. The way to fight it is to not patronize that store. I won’t go to the baker —

O’REILLY: Market place can dictate but a bigot, all right. If you want to be a bigot, you have a right to be a bigot but you don’t have the right to hurt someone in the process.

STOSSEL: Right. But not selling them a cake isn’t the same thing.

O’REILLY: Not the same thing. But there has to be legal protections for homosexuals in this country. There has to be.

    STOSSEL: We have those.

O’REILLY: All right. John Stossel, everybody.

Wal-Mart Demands Arkansas Gov Veto Religious Freedom Bill

Arkansas lawmakers passed a Religious Freedom Restoration Act on Tuesday that critics said would allow businesses to deny service to gays and lesbians, drawing a swift demand from Wal-Mart Stores Inc for the governor to veto the bill.

Arkansas followed Indiana, which passed a similar act last week. They are the first to do so since same-sex marriage became legal in many states last year. Corporations have criticized the measures.

At present 37 of the 50 states and the District of Columbia permit gay marriage.

The world's biggest retailer, Wal-Mart, based in Bentonville, Ark., issued a statement saying the Arkansas bill threatened to undermine "the spirit of inclusion" in the state and "does not reflect the values we proudly uphold."

Signed by Doug McMillon, chief executive officer, the statement asked Republican Governor Asa Hutchinson to veto the legislation.

Indiana's Republican Governor Mike Pence, responding to national outrage over his signing of his state's law last week, vowed earlier on Tuesday to "fix" the act so that businesses could not use the law to deny services to same-sex couples.

Some of the most powerful U.S. companies, including Apple <AAPL.O>, Angie's List, diesel engine-maker Cummins Inc <CMI.N>, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and drug-maker Eli Lilly and Co <LLY.N>, had called on Pence to clarify or repeal the law, which passed with an overwhelming majority in the state's legislature.

Democratic governors, joined by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday, banned official state business travel to Indiana. Auto racing company NASCAR and the Indianapolis-based NCAA, an organization for university athletic programs, voiced concern over the law.

At a news conference Pence said the law protected people of all faiths from being forced by the government to go against their beliefs. The lawyer and one-time radio talk-show host repeatedly denied that the intent of the law was to allow discrimination.

Critics said Indiana's law as it is now written would allow businesses to deny services such as wedding cakes or wedding music for gay marriages on religious grounds.

Pence found support from conservatives including Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz and possible presidential contenders Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, who praised the law.

Supporters have said the acts do not allow for discrimination and are needed to protect religious freedoms.

But critics contend they are part of a broader effort by Republican-dominated statehouses in socially conservative states to push back against a series of U.S. court decisions allowing same-sex marriage.

Pence said the law he signed last week had been unfairly "smeared" and called on the Republican-controlled General Assembly to come up with clarifications this week.

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to decide by the end of June whether the U.S. Constitution protects a right to same-sex marriage, and if it does not, whether states that ban it must recognize marriages performed in states permitting such unions.

"What's happened is that with same-sex marriage on the horizon, the individuals and the believers who do not want to support same-sex marriage are looking to a formula in RFRAs to allow them to avoid same-sex marriage in the market place," said Marci Hamilton, law professor at Yeshiva University's Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School and an opponent of RFRAs.

Arkansas' RFRA also allows religious discrimination lawsuits between private parties, and goes a step further in that it would bar employees from invoking religious freedom in suing employers, Hamilton said.

Lori Windham, senior counsel with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, which has brought RFRA cases on behalf of people of different faiths, said the clarification should not be necessary.

"It should already be clear that these laws require courts to balance religious freedom against other interests. They don't mean religion always wins, they mean that religious people have their day in court," she said.

coming soon to a church near you....

Gay Group Demands Christian Churches Be SHUT DOWN for Opposing Same-Sex Marriage

It has begun. LGBT “activists” have gone full fascist since the passage of Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

Now — right before the holiest days in the Christian calendar — one gay group is attacking Churches who dare to believe that homosexuality is wrong.

The largest gay group in one Western state is demanding that Churches who follow the Bible be shut down by the government.

Jeran Artery, the chairman of Wyoming Equality posted that stunning statement to his Facebook page. When Christians reacted with outrage, the cowardly Artery deleted it. No apology, just hoping it would go down the memory hole. No such luck.

The folks at Conservative Colorado got a screen shot of the post before Artery deleted it.

Today, in a stunning statement, Jeran Artery, Chairman of Wyoming Equality argued that churches who do not support same sex marriage should lose their tax exempt status.

“Churches that lobby to have freedoms and rights taken away from ANYONE should absolutely have their 501(c)3 status revoked!!”

Talk about tolerance, freedom of speech, and religious freedom. Disagree with Artery’s views of same sex marriage and your church will be shut down.

Gone are the days of pluralism. This is what tyranny looks like.

501c3 gays

This should come as no surprise, as it reflects the vile militancy the LGBT movement is known for. Just as they unleashed threats of violence and arson against a tiny pizzeria in Indiana when they dared to express a very mild opinion against gay marriage, so they want to punish Christians who dare to preach, well, Christianity.

Revocation of exempt status is a financial death penalty for most churches, as an estimated 85% of them barely break even or operate at a loss, with most of their efforts geared toward helping the needy. It makes perfect sense that a far-left gay group would advocate this, as it is how Obama used IRS official Lois Lerner to silence conservative groups.

But notice who he did not mention: mosques. Gays never criticize Islam, even though it is only Muslims who are hanging gays from cranes and throwing them from buildings every sngle week.

Get ready. With weak-knees like Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) already backing down, you can expect the pink mafia to step up their aggressive action against Christians who dare to exercise their 1st Amendment rights.

Did everyone see that video recently where bro Bryan exposed James White and Todd Friel with their Jesuitical double-talk - they defended 501c3 saying how churches in America will be suffering persecution by getting this status stripped from them.

Hello? For one, 501c3 is VOLUNTARY - no church had to file for it. And 2, they did so out of the LOVE OF MONEY. It was THEM, ultimately that put themselves under bondage, and NOT Caesar.

1 Samuel 8:4  Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
1Sa 8:5  And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
1Sa 8:6  But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
1Sa 8:7  And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
1Sa 8:8  According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
1Sa 8:9  Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.
1Sa 8:10  And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
1Sa 8:11  And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
1Sa 8:12  And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
1Sa 8:13  And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
1Sa 8:14  And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
1Sa 8:15  And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
1Sa 8:16  And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
1Sa 8:17  He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
1Sa 8:18  And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
1Sa 8:19  Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;
1Sa 8:20  That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.
1Sa 8:21  And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.
1Sa 8:22  And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.

FWIW - I don't mind believers gathering together on Sundays to worship - however, the big problem here is that they get together just one day of the week, and go their separate ways the rest of the week(with the possible exception of Wed nights).

Ultimately, they should be street preaching and doing other things serving the LORD together all throughout the week. For example, James Knox's and Jason Cooley's churches go around their respective areas street preaching through the week(among other things). Both are non-501c3s, BTW.

Doctor Expelled from Boston Hospital for Statements About Health Dangers of Homosexuality

A Massachusetts urologist has been expelled by a Boston hospital for making statements on an internal online portal expressing concern about the health dangers of same-sex sexual activity.

Dr. Paul Church serves as a urology professor at Harvard University and also has admitting privileges at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he has seen patients for nearly the past 30 years. He also has participated in medical missions outreaches in Mexico and Africa.

For over the past decade, Church has expressed concern to his colleagues about the hospital’s promotion of homosexual events. He has commented both via email and on the hospital’s internal portal that it is improper to promote lifestyles that are contrary to the goals of the healthcare community, and has been met with allegations that his comments constitute “discrimination and harassment” and are “offensive to BIDMC staff.”

“The evidence is irrefutable that behaviors common within the homosexual community are unhealthy and high risk for a host of serious medical consequences, including STD’s, HIV and AIDS, anal cancer, hepatitis, parasitic intestinal infections, and psychiatric disorders,” Church wrote on the portal on one occasion, according to reports.

“Life expectancy is significantly decreased as a result of HIV/AIDS, complications from the other health problems, and suicide. This alone should make it reprehensible to the medical community, who has an obligation to promote and model healthy behaviors and lifestyles,” he said.

According to reports, in 2011, after being told that he would be subjected to an investigation if he does not resign, Church received a letter from a peer review committee demanding that discontinue providing his “opinion about sexual orientation, homosexuality, or other protected status.”

Church in turn asked that he discontinue receiving the hospital’s emails promoting homosexual pride events, but when he continued to receive the notices more frequently, he again spoke out. One comment was posted in 2013, and two in 2014.

“Celebrating sexual perversions is highly inappropriate, especially in the context of a medical center that should be aware of the negative health consequences of high risk behaviors,” Church wrote in 2013. “It also ignores and dishonors the religious convictions and moral objections that many members of the hospital community share who are opposed to these behaviors.”

In 2014, he simply responded with a reference to a Bible verse, pointing to Leviticus 18:22 on one occasion and Romans 1:26-28 on another.

In September 2014, a formal investigation was launched against Church, and findings were turned over to a 25-member Medical Executive Committee for consideration. In March, the committee decided to expel Church for his “unsolicited views about homosexuality that were offensive to BIDMC Staff” and for violating the hospital’s discrimination policy.

Church appealed the expulsion, but it was upheld this month by the panel. He is now facing a final ruling from the hospital’s board of directors.

“The hospital is using the serious expulsion procedure against Dr. Church that’s normally used against physicians who abuse patients or commit some kind of malpractice,” the group Mass Resistance, which has been closely following the case, outlined in an update. “Its case is built on a strange dictum that nothing can be posted internally that ‘could offend’ any staff member.”

“But at that same time, the hospital continued to email Dr. Church their pro-LGBT material, even after he asked to be taken off the list, which he (and others) said they found to be offensive,” it continued. “The hospital sees no contradiction at all. This is the brave new world we are entering.”

The legal group Liberty Counsel is representing Church and is considering the doctor’s options.

“This needs to be a wake-up call for America,” attorney Richard Mast told reporters. “What we see being enacted in corporate America is vague terms like labeling something ‘offensive’ is grounds for being fired. We’re seeing deligitimized expressions of religious beliefs. … Rather than disagreeing with ideas, [corporate America] is characterizing the expression of a Christian worldview as offensive, hateful and hurtful, effectively enacting gag orders across corporate America for religious beliefs.”

For everyone who saw Bryan's Mark of the Beast in the CHURCH expose yesterday, you saw how he warned us to flee these church buildings.

Yeah, it's getting very, very bad now. Pretty soon, these church buildings will be forced to bow down to the sodomite agenda.

It's official: 'Homophobia' now a mental disorder!

If you think there might be something wrong with homosexuality, you most likely have a mental disorder, according to a recent study by a team of Italian researchers.

Discussing the study, lead researcher Emmanuele A. Jannini, MD, stated: "After discussing for centuries if homosexuality is to be considered a disease, for the first time we demonstrated that the real disease to be cured is homophobia, associated with potentially severe psychopathologies."

That's right. The research team specifically found that "psychoticism," "immature defense mechanisms" and a "fearful attachment style" were associated with a greater "homophobic" attitude in individuals.

Award-winning journalist and author David Kupelian was not surprised by this new study, because he predicted exactly such developments in his latest book.

"In 'The Snapping of the American Mind,' I predicted that the current obsession of the loony left – which dominates the social sciences – with pathologizing conservatives and Christians as 'disordered' would only accelerate," Kupelian said. "A generation ago, people who engaged in homosexual acts were considered 'disordered' by the psychiatric and psychological professions. Today, simply recognizing homosexuality as disordered makes you disordered!"

Kupelian noted the homosexual activist movement pressured the American Psychiatric Association in the 1970s to remove homosexuality from its official list of disorders. More recently, in 2012, the APA removed "gender identity disorder" from its manual of mental disorders. Gender identity disorder had been the common diagnosis for transgender people.

Meanwhile, those who oppose same-sex marriage or homosexuality in general are often labeled "homophobic," which implies the person has an anxiety disorder (a phobia), notes Kupelian. Other pathologizing labels include "biphobia" for those who don't like to be around bisexuals and "transphobia" for those who don't like to be around transgender people.

Even worse, reveals Kupelian, some researchers have endeavored to prove conservatives' brains are structured differently. A 2010 study in the United Kingdom reported conservatives have brains with larger amygdalas, the part of the brain associated with fear, anxiety, and emotion. In 2012, a University of Arkansas professor released a study linking conservative views to low brainpower, writing, "[W]hen under time pressure or otherwise cognitively impaired, people are more likely to express conservative views."

However, Kupelian revealed that contrary to what liberal social scientists might prefer, solid research has shown that those on the political left are far more likely to suffer from mental illness than those on the right. A 2007 Gallup survey found Republicans reported much better mental health than either Democrats or Independents.

Similarly, a 2013 survey commissioned by BuzzFeed found Democrats were more likely than Republicans to suffer from a whole host of mental illnesses: ADD/ADHD, Asperger's/autism, depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, anorexia, and bulimia.

And yet, the Obama administration seems most concerned about protecting the rest of the country from conservatives, observes Kupelian. They may not have declared conservatives mentally ill, he notes, but the Department of Homeland Security released a report in 2009 warning of a rising domestic terrorist threat from "rightwing extremism." Potential rightwing extremists, according to the report, included returning military veterans, people concerned about illegal immigration, constitutionalists, Second Amendment supporters and pro-lifers, among others.

Kupelian pointed out that the communists of the old Soviet Union also were fond of demonizing and de-legitimizing their ideological opponents– but the Soviets went further than anything seen in the America so far.

"In the Soviet Union, far-left ideology and a powerful impulse to silence dissent led to 'diagnosing' the most normal, clear-thinking and courageous people – 'dissidents' like Natan Sharansky – and incarcerating them in mental hospitals," Kupelian explained.

"We're not there yet in the U.S., but just ask yourself this: How different is it for the crazy left to label conservatives and Christians 'haters,' 'bigots' and 'extremists' – even potential 'domestic terrorists' – as they routinely do today, and labeling the same people as mentally ill? That day may be closer than anybody thinks."

ABC approves gay rights miniseries 'When We Rise,' Gus Van Sant to direct

NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- ABC has greenlighted the creation of a new miniseries project, When We Rise, following the story of the gay rights movement.

Milk director Gus Van Sant is set to helm the eight-hour series, which has been in development for over two years, Deadline reports. Van Sant will also executive produce alongside Bruce Cohen.

The project presents a new opportunity for the team behind successful LGBT rights film Milk, including writer Dustin Lance Black, to reconvene after the 2008 film.

When We Rise will follow the expanse of personal and public experiences of LGBT men and women in history spanning from the Civil Rights movement and the Stonewall Riots to the present day, Variety reports.

Director Van Sant's most recent project, the Matthew McConaughey-led The Sea of Trees, attracted backlash during this year's Cannes Film Festival in May. Actor McConaughey responded to the negative reaction during a panel discussion saying, "real simply, anyone has as much right to boo as they do to ovate."

Transgender Activists' Wrath Falls on Texas Photographer

As of the time of publication of this article, the poster has received over 27,000 shares from her post on the Target Facebook page.

Joyce Moore first added the poster to her Facebook page on April 21st.

She told Breitbart Texas that she made the poster and published it on her personal Facebook page, and on Target’s Facebook page, because it was the right thing to do. She had no idea that the backlash against her small photography business would be so quick and so vindictive.

LGBT and activists for transgenders in women’s restrooms have retaliated by going to her Joyce Moore Photography Facebook page and slamming her in reviews. She has received 39 “1 star” ratings as a result and her overall rating has dropped to 2.8 stars from 5 stars.

Moore was warned that a Facebook page called “Entitlement is still a disease” found at www.facebook.com/EIADII/ had shared a link to her business Facebook page. The person warning her called the group a “hate group” and told her “They are on a mission to destroy you.”

The warning says that the post on the “Entitlement is still a Disease” Facebook page says “This lady created an awful meme about attacking trans rights. Be sure to leave her a wonderful review.”

Interesting, the website listed on the “Entitlement is still a disease” Facebook page is www.f**koff.com Clicking on the website link brings you to a graphic of Democrat presidential candidate Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). It says on the page, “FEEL THE BERN.”

Just a few of the “reviews” she has received to date:

Moore has a photography business and she photographs children and families. She goes to schools to take photos of children. She says that one of the reasons she made the poster against the transgender movement, including the recent decision by Target business executives, is that she is concerned for children.

Ms. Moore told Breitbart Texas that she started making posters or “memes” when she saw a photo on a Facebook page that had a “I’ll Go With You” button. Used to promote a transgender bathroom agenda, they are used to say to transgenders, I will go with you to protect you in the bathroom. The website where the button can be found includes a section that tells people how to be “An #IllGoWithYouBuddy.”

Moore also became concerned when openly gay mayor, Annise Parker, was fighting for the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO). Although Houstonians defeated the measure by a margin of 61 to 39, the fight to get to that victory was extensive. It involved going up the court system to the highest court in Texas. Breitbart Texas reported extensively about this battle.

Moore is not the only person who has posted on Target’s Facebook page. Another Texan, Michelle Prescott, added this poster on an advertisement for soup on the store’s page.

As reported by Breitbart News, people are using social media to express their disgust and outrage about the decision by Target executives to allow transgenders or men claiming to be transgender, to use any bathroom or fitting room.

#BoycottTarget has topped Facebook’s top 10 trends for three days in a row, as reported by Breitbart News. The boycott petition by the American Family Association has as of the time of publication of this article, reached over 583,000 signatures.

Moore told Breitbart Texas, “It is insanity to allow males into female restrooms. My poster says it all.  I have a right to my privacy.”

As it relates to her business, she says she is “a small conservative business owner who has worked hard to keep high standards for my business and to keep my clients happy.” She says she “was totally appalled when haters came to my website and started giving me one star and hateful comments. It came to the point that I have changed or deleted all of my personal information.”

Moore says that even though all of this has upset her greatly, she has “no regrets.” She is also encouraged that over 30,000 people and “climbing” have shared her poster.  She says she told one distractor, “I will take your one star to protect the children.”

She asks that people continue to share her poster.

NBA Commish Will Pull All-Star Game If North Carolina Won’t Allow Men In The Ladies Room
NBA doesn't believe in protecting woman!!

"We've been, I think, crystal clear that we believe a change in the law is necessary for us to play in the kind of environment that we think is appropriate for a celebratory NBA event, but that we did have some time and that if the view of the people who were allied with us in terms of a change, if their view, the people on the ground in North Carolina, was that the situation would best be served by us not setting a deadline, we would not set a deadline at this time."

Commissioner Adam Silver believes the NBA has been “crystal clear” that the 2017 All-Star Game only stays in Charlotte if a North Carolina law goes

EDITOR’S NOTE: Whether you realize it or not, what happens in North Carolina will set the standard for the other 49 states as well. The united powers of end times darkness are using every threat they have to get North Carolina to reverse it’s Bathroom Bill protecting women and little girls from pedophiles and perverts in the restroom. I can think of no greater illustration of the battle of good versus evil in the last days than this.

Political and business leaders he’s spoken with in the state believe it will, so he’s holding off for now on setting any deadlines for when the NBA might act.

Silver said last week that the law that limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people was “problematic” for the league, but he believed dialogue was more useful than ultimatums at this point, so has continued discussions with North Carolina officials.

“The sense was that if the NBA could give us some time, they in the community of North Carolina were optimistic they would see a change in the law. They weren’t guaranteeing it and I think which was why my response was the event still is 10 months from now, we don’t need to make a decision yet,” Silver said Thursday during a meeting of Associated Press Sports Editors.

“We’ve been, I think, crystal clear that we believe a change in the law is necessary for us to play in the kind of environment that we think is appropriate for a celebratory NBA event, but that we did have some time and that if the view of the people who were allied with us in terms of a change, if their view, the people on the ground in North Carolina, was that the situation would best be served by us not setting a deadline, we would not set a deadline at this time.”

The North Carolina law directs transgender people to use public toilets corresponding to the sex listed on their birth certificate. The law also excludes LGBT people from state anti-discrimination protections, blocks local governments from expanding LGBT protections, and bars all types of workplace discrimination lawsuits from state courts.

You should listen to the old Lester Roloff sermons - he died in 1982 - he was your typical old timey fire and brimstone, preaching against sin, and striving for holiness preacher.

During his time, he thought the sodomite agenda (which wasn't near the level it is now) was at an all-time high abomination - pt being that if he were alive today, his head would LITERALLY EXPLODE!

Back then, although sodomite marriage wasn't legalize, people were still doing it and getting away with it - now? The current wars are in the RESTROOMS! Beastiality and marriage with underage minors are on the horizon!
