Calif. governor signs transgender-student bill

California has become the first state to enshrine certain rights for transgender K-12 students in state law, requiring public schools to allow those students access to whichever restroom and locker room they want.

Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown announced Monday that he had signed AB1266. The new law gives students the right "to participate in sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities" based on their self-perception and regardless of their birth gender.

Supporters said the law will help reduce bullying against transgender students. It comes as the families of transgender students have been waging local battles with school districts around the country over what restrooms and locker rooms their children can use.

Detractors said allowing students of one gender to use facilities intended for the other could invade the other students' privacy.

Girls Threatened With Hate Crime Charges For Complaining About Transgender Bathroom Harassment

School tells parents boy’s rights as transgender trump their daughter’s privacy rights

Female students at Florence High School in Colorado were threatened with hate crimes charges when they complained about being harassed by a transgender boy in the girls’ bathroom.

Initial complaints about the transgender student’s behavior towards the girls were made by their parents, who were told by the school that the boy’s transgender rights trumped the privacy rights of their daughters.

When the female students continued to complain about the harassment, the school threatened to kick them off the athletic team or even hit them with hate crimes charges if they didn’t stay silent.

The Pacific Justice Institute sent a letter to the school warning them against prioritizing transgender rights over the privacy rights of female students.

“We’re not going to stand by and let 99.7 percent of our students lose their privacy and free speech rights just because .3 percent of the population are gender-confused,” the letter stated.

The school so adamantly sided with the transgender student that officials even suggested the girls give up access to most of their restrooms altogether, reported CBN News.

Although Colorado’s treatment of transgender school children is determined by policy, California became the first U.S. state to mandate by law the right of girls and boys to choose which bathroom they would use regardless of their gender back in August when Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 1266, otherwise known as the ‘Transgender Bathroom Bill’. The law takes effect on January 1st.

The Pacific Justice Institute is circulating a petition that would force state officials to put the bill up for a referendum. If the group collects 500,000 signatures from Californians before November 10, the Bathroom Bill will be temporarily suspended until it is voted on at the next State general election in November of 2014.

Californians “jolted by the mental image of children sharing lavatories and locker rooms with opposite-sex classmates,” are making concerted efforts to repeal the bill before it becomes law, reports Bloomberg. If the bill is suspended, it could set the precedent for other areas of the country.

However, in states like Colorado, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Washington, students and parents are at the mercy of schools who have already instituted policies which exalt the rights of a tiny minority while violating the privacy rights of a huge majority of students who are being forced to share bathrooms with members of the opposite sex who identify as transgender.

Since the 1980's, it seems like the new norm for the thinking of the youth became, "But our parents need to understand us better...". And there was that whole "generation gap" nonsense since the 1960's.

Pt being that no wonder why in our present day, everyone is demanding their so-called "rights", whatever it is.

Christian Legal Group Demands Colorado School Protect Girls From Boy Using Womens’ Restroom

A nationally-recognized Christian legal group is demanding that a Colorado high school protect female students students from a boy who is using the girls’ restroom and allegedly making harassing comments.

The Pacific Justice Institute (PJI), based in Sacramento, California, recently sent a letter to officials at Florence High School to ask that the matter be promptly addressed.

According to the organization, parents of teenage girls at the high school contacted PJI to express concern after their daughters said that a boy, who identifies as a girl, has been using the restroom and making inappropriate comments. The male student reportedly uses the boys’ and girls’ restrooms interchangeably, and is thus not consistent in his gender identity.

However, when parents approached school officials about the matter, they were informed that the male student must be permitted to use the girls’ facilities. PJI states that some students were told that they would be dismissed from their school teams or punished in other ways if they continued to lodge complaints about the male student.

“This is a nightmare scenario for the teenage girls—some of them freshmen—and their parents at this school,” PJI staff attorney Matthew McReynolds, wrote in a recent statement about the matter. “This is exactly the kind of horror story we have been warning would accompany the push for radical transgender rights in schools, and it is the type of situation that LGBT activists have been insisting would not happen.”

But the school district denies that any harassment has taken place.

“Nothing has actually been verified,” Superintendent Rhonda Vendetti told the Transadvocate. “This is one parent basically bringing their viewpoint about this situation to the media because they weren’t getting the responses that they hoped they would get from the district, from parents of students at the high school, or from the board and myself.”

But McReynolds is standing by the allegations.

“We have received additional reports of specific, inappropriate statements made by this student, and we are working to corroborate those reports,” he stated.

McReynolds explained further to WND that the Christian legal organization is seeking a resolution to the matter that would be amicable to all parties involved. For now, female students are being advised to use the faculty restrooms if they feel uncomfortable.

“Our students are in a scenario where they’re being told, ‘If you don’t want to be in this situation where this guy walks in while you’re in the bathroom, then you’ve got to confine yourself to one staff bathroom that is very inconvenient, that’s not even open all the time that they’re on campus for athletic activities and things like that,” McReynolds said. “[They're being told that] you just have to give up your right to use the other dozen or so bathrooms on campus. You just have to clear out so that this one other student can do whatever he wants.’”

“If the teachers are willing to let the girls or the guys use the faculty bathroom, why aren’t they willing to let this person use the faculty bathroom?” parent Juan Chavez asked local television station KDVR.

PJI says that it is asking the school to ensure that privacy rights will be protected and that girls will not be forced to give up the restroom as some have suggested.

“We’re not going to stand by and let 99.7% of our students lose their privacy and free speech rights just because .3% of the population are gender-confused,” said PJI President Brad Dacus. “LGBT activists are sacrificing the safety and sanity of our schools to push an extreme political agenda. This battle is no longer confined to California or Colorado; it is spreading to every part of the nation. It is crucial that we act now to prevent a crippling blow to our constitutional freedoms.”

Middle School Student Reprimanded for Distributing Flyers Warning About State’s ‘Bathroom Bill’

A middle school student was recently reprimanded by her principal for distributing flyers that warned her peers about California’s newly enacted ‘bathroom bill,’ which allows male students who identify as females to use the girls’ restroom and vice versa.

According the reports, the eighth grader, named Caylin, took 18 flyers to her Corona-Norco-area middle school on the morning of October 21st, and handed them out to her peers near the lunch room. As she distributed the information well before the start of school—approximately 7:00 a.m.—she was approached by a security officer who asked her if she was responsible for the literature.

When Caylin acknowledged that she indeed had been sharing the flyers with students, she was told to report to the principal’s office.

Caylin’s principal then informed her that it was against the law to distribute the flyers. He then asked who had told her to hand out the information. Caylin replied that it was her own idea, as she had heard about the matter at church.

“[Your church] should be ashamed for making you do this,” the principal remarked, according to the girl.

But Caylin reiterated that her church did not make her do anything, and that she rather came up with the idea by herself.  The principal then warned that the eighth grader could face consequences if any parents contacted the school to complain about the literature that she had distributed. Reports also suggest that the school advised that it requires 24-hour advance notice when a student intends to engage in free speech activity, such as leafleting.

However, Caylin’s parents contacted the Christian legal organization Advocates for Faith and Freedom, headquartered in Murrieta. In turn, an attorney with the group sent a letter to the principal and district superintendent, urging officials to allow Caylin to distribute the flyers and noting the constitutional infirmities with the school policy. He warned that legal action could be taken if the correspondence was ignored.

On Tuesday, the district responded to the letter, allowing Caylin to again distribute literature about the new law at school. She says she intends to continue to share her message with peers.

“Censorship of a student based on a ‘24 hour’ notice requirement is unconstitutional,” stated Advocates for Faith and Freedom attorney Robert Tyler. “Students have the right to express their opinions on controversial subjects, and even warn other students of new laws that threaten their personal privacy.”

As previously reported, this past August, California Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 1266 into law—a bill that allows boys who identify as girls to use girls’ bathrooms at school, and vice versa. California legislators overwhelmingly approved the “Bathroom Bill” in the House and Senate, even though the bill’s author—Democratic Assemblyman Tom Ammiano—admitted that the new measures would “perhaps” make some children “uncomfortable.”

“I don’t want to minimize that,” Ammiano said, according to the BBC, “but new experiences are often uncomfortable. That can’t be an excuse for prejudice.”

However, Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, told Christian News Network that the enforcement of AB 1266 will lead to instances of “extreme violation of [students’] privacy,” with “horrendous” mental and emotional ramifications.

Caylin’s mother, Christy, agreed.

“All parents of public school students should be outraged at this bill,” she stated in a news release issued by Advocates for Faith and Freedom. “I was very surprised when the school wanted to silence my daughter rather than let her be a voice for herself and all students whose privacy is being threatened by this bill.”

CALIFORNIA COALITION COLLECTS OVER HALF A MILLION SIGNATURES IN EFFORT TO OVERTURN "BATHROOM BILL"

(Friday Church News Notes, November 22, 2013, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -

The following is excerpted from "California Coalition," Christian News Network , Nov. 12, 2013: "A coalition comprised of parents, students, churches and other non-profit organizations has submitted over a half a million signatures to California election officials in an effort to place the state's 'Bathroom Bill' on the ballot. As previously reported, this past August, Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 1266 into law--a bill that allows boys who identify as girls to use girls' bathrooms at school, and vice versa. 'This bill would require that a pupil be permitted to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil's records,' the legislation outlines. ... But a number of pro-family groups have staunchly insisted that the new law will  have disastrous ramifications, and many have banded together to help overturn the statute. The Privacy For All Students (PFAS) coalition is the result of the collective concerns of Christians and others across the state. On Sunday, the group announced that it had submitted over 620,000 signatures to election officials in hopes of qualifying for a referendum that would give voters a chance to overturn the state's Bathroom Bill. 'We are grateful to the thousands of volunteers who have worked tirelessly in churches and neighborhoods across California,' said Gina Gleason of Faith & Public Policy, the referendum proponent. "Many people said we had no chance to collect over half a million signatures in just 90 days, but we have proven them wrong by gathering over 115,000 more signatures than the minimum needed.' 'As far as we are aware, this is the largest number of volunteer signatures ever submitted in a California referendum campaign,' added Karen England of Capitol Resources Institute, a member of the PFAS executive committee. 'It shows the degree of opposition that exists to opening the most vulnerable areas of public schools to the opposite sex.'"

Schools prepare for transgender law

Districts working to comply with measure that takes effect Jan. 1

Transgender students in Kings County could see a few changes for them on campus next year.

School districts are working toward making sure all of their policies and programs are aligned with AB 1266, the new state transgender law which goes into effect Jan. 1. However, there is still some uncertainty amongst administrators about what they have to do to comply and how exactly schools will be affected by the law.

“We’re updating our policies to make sure everything is appropriate and that they meet the requirements,” said Ward Whaley, director of administrative services for the Hanford Joint Union High School District. “We’ve done mandated training for all employees to make sure everyone is educated on the issue and prepared for it.”

The law says public schools cannot prohibit transgender students from entering any class, school program, sports team or facility they identify with their gender.

Due to current antidiscrimination laws, Whaley said a lot of the requirements have been met or only need some small changes to comply. He also said that students in the district have mostly been accepting of transgender students.

“For us, it hasn’t been something that we’ve really had to worry about,” he said. “Kids in Hanford tend to be diverse in how they think about things and accept things, so it’s probably not going to make a big difference.”

Whaley said so far they haven’t received many calls or complaints from parents about the issue. Elsewhere in the state, however, a coalition is aiming to repeal the law through a measure on the November 2014 ballot. The group, called Privacy for All Students, submitted a petition to the Secretary of State’s Office with about 620,000 signatures from registered voters.

However, 82 percent of those signatures have to be proven to be valid. In a preliminary sample, the measure has fallen short, with about 77 percent of the signatures checked shown to be valid.

“Even if it makes the ballot, I don’t think the law will be overturned,” Whaley said. “Appeals of gay marriage laws and other similar laws in the state haven’t been very successful. We have to move forward assuming the law will still be in place.”

Although Whaley said preparing for the law hasn’t been a major concern, he believes not all of the ramifications of the law have been revealed or understood yet. As it’s a new issue, he said everyone’s learning about it as they go. He foresees that there could be some future challenges that the district may have to solve.

“I could see that we might need new facilities such as bathrooms down the road,” he said. “We might also have to do more training.”

Unlike the Hanford district, Corcoran Unified School District Superintendent Rich Merlo said they haven’t gotten very far in preparing for the law because he said they are waiting for additional direction from the state in what they need to do to comply. He said it’s likely they will have to build new bathroom facilities.

“What makes sense to protect everybody is to have bathrooms that are unisex,” he said. “Currently, our bathrooms aren’t designed for that, so that’s something we might have to do. Unfortunately, building new facilities costs a lot of money.”

Merlo said it’s likely that any construction would have to be paid for by the district, rather than through extra money provided by the state. He said it would probably come out of the district’s general fund.

“We’re hoping that if we do have to have some construction done, it won’t be very disruptive,” he said. “Sacramento needs to think about the impact laws like this have and get feedback from the public before they’re approved.”

Whaley said what’s most important is that all students feel safe and have equal opportunities available to them. He said he doesn’t believe the transgender students are trying to cause problems or draw extra attention to themselves.

“They’re just trying to find ways to deal with what they’re going through,” he said. “Everyone should be able to exercise their rights. We need to let these students get the education that’s most appropriate for them.”

The law says public schools cannot prohibit transgender students from entering any class, school program, sports team or facility they identify with their gender.

And then there was Title IX which was pushed by the feminists in the 70's, which made boys and girls athletics in public schools to be mandatorily equally funded.

Not surprising, as the current generation has been conditioned with this mindset in their respective institutions.

Transgender student sexually assaulted at school
3/4/14

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A transgender teenager was beaten and sexually assaulted by three boys in a bathroom at a suburban San Francisco public school, police said, marking the second time a transgender student reported being the target of violence at the campus.

The 15-year-old student, who is biologically female but identifies as male, told officers he was leaving a boy's bathroom late Monday morning at Hercules Middle/High School when the assailants pushed him inside a large stall and attacked him, Hercules police Detective Connie Van Putten said.

Van Putten said the boys reportedly made disparaging remarks to the student, allowing police to treat the case as a hate crime. The victim said he didn't know the boys.

"He walked himself to the health center, and was obviously very upset when he talked to officers," Van Putten said. "He is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances."

It was the first assault of a transgender student made public since a new California law went into effect on Jan. 1 guaranteeing students the right to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that match the gender with which they identify.

But even before the law took effect, the West Contra Costa Unified School District, which includes Hercules Middle/High, gave transgender students their choice of which school facilities to use, district spokesman Marin Trujillo said.

The bathroom where the attack occurred is between a custodial office and a classroom. Trujillo would not say how long the student victim had been using the boys' restrooms at school but stressed that it would have been permitted even if the law had not been passed.

"We have transgender students at our elementary, middle and high schools and have been making these types of accommodations for many years already," he said.

Opponents of the new law recently tried to repeal it at the ballot box but failed to gather enough signatures to qualify a referendum for the November election. School officials suspect the campaign may have indirectly played a role in Monday's attack by fueling fears among parents and students, Trujillo said.

"We believe as a district, and the superintendent does, that the latest efforts by the petitioners to bring down the law has stirred up a lot of hate and it is showing up in the wrong places," he said.

The teen was taken to a hospital for treatment and released to his parents, No suspects or witnesses have been identified, and detectives on Tuesday collected physical evidence and interviewed students at the campus of 1,800 students in grades 6-12 about 20 miles northeast of San Francisco.

Citing privacy rules and the ongoing investigation, neither police nor school officials would provide details about what happened in the bathroom or the nature of the student's injuries.

Last fall, another transgender student went public with an account of what life was like for her at Hercules High after she got into a fight with three other girls that was caught on a cellphone video that went viral. The transgender teenager, Jewlyes Gutierrez, a biological male who identifies as a female, said she had repeatedly complained about being harassed at school before the brawl.

No one was seriously injured in the fight, but Gutierrez, 16, was charged with misdemeanor battery. Civil rights groups and the president of the school board have called on prosecutors to drop the charge after questioning why she was the only one to face a possible criminal penalty.

Carolyn Laub, executive director of the Gay-Straight Alliance Network, which supports and trains student organizations that serve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students, said Monday's attack indicates that Hercules High has serious safety problems that have nothing to do with the new law.

"This is a horrible incident with a young person who has been sexually assaulted. It's not about bathrooms," Laub said. "It's an attack and it happened at a school where violence has been rampant and allowed to escalate to where something like this has been allowed to occur."

Trujillo said it was wrong to put Gutierrez' experience and Monday's assault in the same category and denied that the school has unusual behavior problems.

In a national survey of more than 8,500 young people between ages 13 and 20, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network found that more than 75 percent of those who self-identified as transgender reported being verbally harassed at school because of their gender identity.

More than 32 percent of the transgender respondents said they had been physically assaulted at school, according to the 2011 survey by the New York-based organization that advocates for policies to improve the school experiences of gay and transgender youth.

WHOOPS!

Swift response before transgender teen recanted

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Police, civil rights activists and school district officials in the San Francisco suburb of Hercules responded aggressively when a transgender teenager showed up at his high school health center saying he had just been beaten and sexually assaulted in a school bathroom.

But on Tuesday afternoon, the 15-year-old student who alleged the attack recanted, acknowledging during a follow-up interview with a detective that he had fabricated the whole tale, Hercules police said.

The reversal left open the possibility the teen could be charged with making a false criminal report, said Connie Van Putten, a police department spokeswoman.

The student, who is biologically female but identifies as male, had told officers he was leaving a boy's bathroom on Monday morning when three other boys he did not know pushed him inside a large stall and attacked him.

But officers could not substantiate certain elements of his statement, including the time frame, and he lacked any physical injuries to his head, face and hands, police said.

The student acknowledged he had made up the story during the follow-up interview, Van Putten said. She would not speculate on why he had lied.

The incident came as school districts across California are bringing their policies into compliance with a law that took effect Jan. 1 guaranteeing students the right to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that match the gender with which they identify.

Advocates who fought to get the law through the Legislature last year said the fact that the Hercules teen's story appeared to be untrue does not minimize the harassment that transgender students routinely face.

Mario Trujillo, spokesman for the West Contra Costa Unified School District, said school officials are less concerned with punishing the student than making sure he gets the support he needs.

Since November, Hercules High has been dealing with the fallout from an on-campus fight involving another transgender student and three girls that was captured in a cellphone video. Jewlyes Gutierrez, a biological male who identifies as female, was charged with misdemeanor assault and said she had repeatedly complained about being harassed at school before she fought back.

The West Contra Costa Unified School District also has been responding to criticism over its handling of sexual harassment involving students. The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights launched an investigation of the district after a female student was gang-raped outside a homecoming dance at another high school in 2009, the year after another girl at a third high school was raped in a classroom by two classmates.

Parents outraged after Arizona school allows boys and girls to use whichever bathroom they choose

Parents with children attending a school in the Tucson Unified School District are outraged after school officials decided that transgender students could use whichever bathroom they "identify" with rather than be restricted by their biological sex.

According to KVOA TV, the Tucson Unified School District voted on March 25 to update its non-discrimination policy to include "gender identity and expression."

Parents with children at Anna Henry Elementary School in Tucson voiced their concern at a meeting on Wednesday night where they related incidents that made their kids very uncomfortable.

John Bellisario, principal of Henry Elementary, when asked which bathrooms transgender students are encouraged to use, replied, "We have multiple restrooms, we have boys restrooms, we have girls restrooms, we have unisex restrooms, and the children can use the restroom they identify with. That's based on case law all over the country."

Susan Wright related an incident where her 10-year old son was using the urinal in the boys' bathroom when a student he identified as a female walked in on him, according to a Tucson News Now report.

"My son won't even let me go in the bathroom with him, he won't let a female teacher go in with him, this did not make him comfortable," said Wright.

"My child's privacy was infringed upon. If he doesn't want his own mother in the bathroom with him, he's certainly not going to want one of his peers," Wright stated.

Another parent, Danya Ayers, said she knew of an incident where a boy was very uncomfortable after a child he knew as a girl removed her underpants in front of him.

"It's a privacy issue," concurred concerned parent Sharah Gray. "It's not a gay or a lesbian issue. If that were the case, I would despise my cousin, my uncle. That has absolutely nothing to do with it."

School officials told the parents at the meeting that they had temporarily addressed the issue by blocking off all the male urinals in the boys' bathrooms, telling students to use the stalls instead.

While some parents thought simply requiring kids to use stalls was an answer to the concerns of privacy for the children, others said the issues involved in pandering to transgender students were more complex.

"I mean, what's next?" asked Danya Ayers. "The next thing you know it's not just bathrooms, it's locker rooms, it's showers. Having two boys, I would not feel comfortable with them showering next to a fully developed female."

"It's a privacy issue, it's a safety issue. Some students are just not comfortable with it," said Ayers.

Shocking: Houston Mayor Intros So-Called 'Sexual Predator Protection Act'

Houston mayor Annise Parker, a Democrat, has proposed an ordinance that could allow sexual predators access to women.

The “Open Bathrooms Component,” which some call the “Sexual Predator Protection Act,” requires all Houston businesses to allow anyone dressed in female attire—without regard to biological sex—access to all women’s bathrooms, showers and locker rooms.

Ed Young, senior pastor at Second Baptist Church in Houston, has written the following letter expressing his concern over Parker’s proposed act:

“It’s great to be a Houstonian. This city has been my home for over 35 years, but I now have a genuine concern with a staggering moral issue before the Houston City Council.

“This week, Mayor Annise Parker will continue to push the City Council to approve a ‘non-discrimination ordinance.’ This ordinance is more aptly described as a wide-reaching pro-lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ordinance and it is a direct threat to the rights of all who live and work in our city.

“In summary, the mayor seeks the power to force individuals and businesses to affirm homosexual conduct and gender identity issues or face criminal penalties and fines. The mayor is sending a direct message: The rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens are more important than the rights of citizens who do not fall into one of those categories. State and federal laws already prohibit discrimination against race, color, national origin, sex, and religion. This proposed city ordinance seeks to elevate sexual preference to a constitutionally protected class.

“The verbiage of the proposed ordinance is couched in non-discrimination language but, without question, discriminates against people, like you and me, who want to live by our own personal convictions. We strongly believe that no one should suffer from discrimination and that each person is entitled to his or her own rights and moral beliefs. During recent discussions, those who oppose this ordinance have been labeled as ‘intolerant.’

“Tolerance should not be defined as casting aside and acting against one’s own beliefs to accommodate someone else’s. Simply put, the homosexual community wants us to tolerate their behavior and beliefs but does not want to give the rest of us that same courtesy. On top of that, they want to use threats of criminal prosecution and fines to accomplish our acquiescence. Their rights should end where our morality and rights begin.

“Here are two practical points I would like you to seriously consider:

“1. Under the proposed ordinance, ladies’ restrooms will be open to men who feel or claim to feel that they are women. As a result, restrooms, showers, and locker rooms throughout Houston will be open to sexual predators who can use this proposed ordinance as cover of protection to violate women and children. For example, a biological male could claim that his perceived gender identity is female, walk into a women’s restroom, locker room, or shower and, under this ordinance, he—not women and children—would be protected. The business owner could face prosecution or a lawsuit if he asks a man to leave a ladies’ restroom.

“2. This ordinance offensively violates Houstonians’ rights as American citizens. By proposing this ordinance, the mayor is basically telling local businesses: Believe as I believe or close your doors. Consider the case in Colorado in which the owner of a bakery refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. The baker was sued for practicing his biblical beliefs and for not condoning same-sex marriage. Under the proposed ordinance, this same situation in Houston would result in a taxpayer-funded investigation of the baker, a costly lawsuit for the City to pursue and for the baker to defend (in our already crowded judicial system), and criminal and financial penalties for the baker.

“If you think that you will not be affected by the proposed ordinance simply because you do not live in the city, you are wrong. If you patronize Houston businesses, attend athletic or public events, or shop in our local malls, you will be directly affected because the tragic ordinance, not the sign outside of the door, will dictate who may use a restroom.

“We constantly tell our children to be strong and say no to things in which we do not believe. Will we do the same? The voice of the proponents of this ordinance has been heard. Before your rights as citizens are forcefully taken from you, let your voice be heard as well.

“Pray for the Houston City Council to vote against the proposed ordinance. The Bible tells us in Second Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Pray that the City Council will have the courage to stand for what is right and to protect, not take away, the rights of Houstonians.

“Contact, either by email or phone, at least one council member and the mayor, no matter where you live in Houston or in the greater metropolitan area. Respectfully state that voting for this ordinance will take away your rights to live what you believe, will be unsafe for women and children, will adversely impact local businesses, will clog our courts, and will unnecessarily spend our tax dollars. Ask them to vote Against This Ordinance.

“Attend the Houston City Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Houston City Hall, 901 Bagby. Plan to arrive one hour before the meeting begins.

“Tell your friends what is at stake. Ask them to join you in prayer and to spread the word of this unconstitutional ordinance.”

Houston’s Grace Community Church Pastor Steve Riggle and his wife, Becky, created the following video to get the message out about the proposed ordinance:

Houston's sodomite mayor has been in office in 2009 - ultimately, she has really been under the radar. Especially considering how Texas is a RED state, you would think they would through and through at the very least exposed her through and through(and for that matter too she should have had no chance at getting into any office here) - but like said, unlike Wendy Davis, she has quietly slipped under the radar.

I know the bible explains it well in Romans 1:18-32, but nonetheless like said.

Boys Want to Use Girls' Bathroom at Kentucky School, Principal Agrees

Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) has sent a letter to Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) that asks it to reverse a decision by the Atherton High School principal to allow students to use bathrooms and changing areas reserved for the opposite sex. The letter provides a recommended policy that addresses the school’s concerns about discrimination without allowing the sharing of bathrooms.

The ADF letter explains that, contrary to the principal’s decision, no law requires public schools to allow boys into girls’ restrooms or girls into boys’ restrooms. In fact, the district could be subjecting itself to legal liability for violating students’ privacy rights and placing them in potentially unsafe conditions.

“A school district’s duty is to protect its students,” says ADF legal counsel Jonathan Scruggs. “The school district should adopt policies that protect student privacy and safety, not open itself to legal liability from students whose privacy rights are harmed by misguided policy decisions.”

“Every student has a right to privacy and safety. There is no legal mandate that requires every child in the district to give up these rights because a boy wants to use the girls’ restroom,” adds ADF senior legal counsel Jeremy Tedesco. “The only sensible, objective and enforceable policy is one that ensures single-sex access to areas where children undress or engage in other activities that require privacy. The ADF model policy addresses the problems the district is trying to solve without compromising student privacy and safety.”

The ADF letter cites pertinent legal precedent, including a 2006 U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit ruling that employers do not violate federal law when they restrict restrooms and changing areas to members of the same sex for privacy and safety reasons.

“Based on such cases, JCPS does not have any legal duty to open changing areas to opposite-sex students as a means to prevent discrimination. There simply is no discrimination in protecting young children from inappropriate exposure to the opposite-sex,” the ADF letter states.

“Permitting students to use opposite-sex restrooms would seriously endanger student safety, undermine parental authority, and severely impair an environment conducive to learning,” the letter continues. “These dangers are so clear-cut that a school district allowing such activity would clearly subject itself—and its teachers—to tort liability. We therefore suggest that JCPS reverse the decision of Atherton’s principal and prohibit students from using opposite-sex changing areas.”

In the letter, ADF offers to defend the school district free of charge if it adopts the ADF-recommended policy and then faces any legal challenge over it in court. Clint Elliott, one of more than 2,300 attorneys allied with Alliance Defending Freedom, is serving as local counsel in the matter.

University to Offer ‘Gender-Open’ Restrooms
7/30/14

Northwestern University adds to list of more than 150 campuses with gender-open restrooms nationwide

EVANSTON, ILL. – Northwestern University will offer “gender-open restrooms” to its students this fall.

“We are trying to be responsive to the needs of all of our students and to be inclusive,” campus spokesman Bob Rowley said in an email to The College Fix. “This is becoming a common occurrence on campuses across the U.S.”

At Northwestern, the two sex-segregated bathrooms to be changed will simply have their front door placards replaced to reflect the transition – no major renovations are planned. The bathrooms are located on the third floor of the university’s main building that serves as the campus hub.

Northwestern joins the estimated 150 campuses across the nation that now offer some sort of gender-open restrooms, also called gender-neutral, unisex, or all-gender bathrooms, according to a tally by the LGTBQ group Stonewall at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. GORestroom

But while advocates convey them as mostly “single-stall, lockable restrooms available to people of all genders,” it’s clear many are also sex-segregated bathrooms converted to open-gender ones, as is the case at Northwestern.

The concern among some female students who now must share restrooms with anatomically male students is apparently not significant enough to put the brakes on these transitions.

“We received overwhelmingly positive information, and so we went with it,” Devin Moss, the director of Northwestern’s LGBTQ Resource Center, told the Daily Northwestern. “We didn’t really get any major concerns.”

According to a survey by the resource center, which occupies the third floor where the new restrooms are located, people who frequent those bathrooms were “mostly comfortable” with the transition, the university states on its website.

The open-gender campus restroom trend mirrors newly approved state laws that force school officials to allow students to use whatever bathroom they prefer, depending on what gender with which they identify, laws most notably found in California and Maryland.

“Certain people feel threatened in single-sex bathrooms based on their presumed sexual orientation rather than gender identity,” Stonewall has stated.

“Students have faced gay-baiting comments in our university’s sex-segregated bathrooms,” the group added. “Men’s bathrooms may be particular sites for this sort of harassment because of their image as queer cruising grounds.”

Northwestern plans to expand its “inclusive” floorplans.

“Gender open restrooms are also planned for the new parking structure … and the new Kellogg School of Management building,” the Daily Northwestern student newspaper reports.

Earlier this month, Illinois State University converted its “all family” restrooms to “all gender” restrooms by changing their signage, “a move Michael Shane McCreery of the school’s Office of Equal Opportunity, Ethics and Access said ‘evidences the university’s efforts to have an inclusive environment,’” the Huffington Post reported.

That article, published July 18 and headlined “Gender-Neutral Bathrooms Are Quietly Becoming The New Thing At Colleges,” also reported that disability rights activists have come out in support of gender-neutral bathrooms.

UC to create more 'gender-neutral' restrooms
Sep 29, 2014 6:05 p.m.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - University of California President Janet Napolitano is responding to concerns raised by gay and transgender students and staff by directing the system's 10 campuses to create more gender-neutral restrooms and to allow students to update their records with a preferred name that does not necessarily match their legal name.

Napolitano said Monday that the two actions respond to recommendations from a task force that started meeting before she assumed the president's job and that she has asked to provide her with ongoing advice for how the university can be more LGBT-inclusive.

Several UC campuses already have implemented such changes on their own in recent years.

UC spokeswoman Brooke Converse says that under the new policy all single-stall restrooms will be made available to both men and women instead of reserved for a single sex.

And remember the whole Title IX nonsense pushed by the feminists in the 70's - which made schools fund girls athletics equally as boys athletics - which ended up allowing girls to play on boys sports teams like wrestling.

Marvel ye not that it's come to THIS...

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/national/a-question-for-schools-which-sports-teams-should-transgender-students-play-on/ar-BB74vkS
A question for schools: Which sports teams should transgender students play on?

It had been a relatively quiet policy debate until the full-page ad appeared in Sunday’s local newspaper. “A male wants to shower beside your 14-year-old daughter,” it said. “Are you OK with that?”

The ad, placed by a socially conservative group in Minnesota, was meant to snap attention to a proposal to allow transgender students to play on teams based on their preferred gender rather than the sex assigned to them at birth.

It appears to have worked. More than 100 community members flooded a meeting this week near Minneapolis and thousands more sent e-mails. In response, the quasi-public body governing high school sports on Wednesday decided to delay a vote on a new policy covering sports participation by transgender students. Members of the board of directors said they needed more time to study the issue.

The policy, which they now plan to vote on in December, was an attempt to grapple with a question that has bedeviled many states: How do you deal with the growing number of children identifying as transgender at a young age who want to participate in the highly gender-specific worlds of high school sports and extracurricular activities?

School systems have scrambled to adopt policies aimed at accommodating these students while also being sensitive to concerns over locker room privacy, as well as any unfair advantages a more physically imposing transgender female might have on the field with other girls.

“Generally our society is becoming more accepting in its understanding of gender identity and what that means, and we’ve been very lucky that in the last few years this cadre of young kids has started identifying themselves as trans from a young age,” said Helen Carroll, sports project director at the National Center for Lesbian Rights, who helped write a model policy for school systems. “It’s really pushing folks to really grapple with and understand what it means.”

But they have run into opposition, including from groups that contend gender is a biological fact rather than a social choice, and that schools should not cater to a small subset of the student body.

The number of students asking for such accommodations nationally is indeed very low, Carroll said, estimating that fewer than 10 students a year make such requests. Advocates and students say that is because the students are typically afraid of bullying, or very self-conscious about their bodies, and therefore choose not to participate in sports.

“I just didn’t feel like I was accepted anywhere in athletics,” said Jae Bates, 18, a student at the University of Puget Sound in Washington who graduated from a Minnesota high school. Bates had been active in soccer, swimming and track but dropped the first two after coming out as male just prior to his junior year. He remained on the girls’ track team, in part because the coach was an adviser to his school’s gay-straight alliance.

A number of states have adopted policies in recent years regarding transgender athletes, with several states placing restrictions on their ability to compete with teammates of their preferred gender. For example, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia require students to play on teams based on the gender listed on their birth certificate, according to Trans*Athlete, an online clearinghouse for information about transgender athletes.

At least 11 states and the District allow transgender athletes to play on their preferred teams, according to Trans*Athlete. New York is expected to consider such a policy this month. The one considered Wednesday by the Minnesota State High School Sports League would have left discretion up to individual schools, with the caveat that students and their parents could appeal the school’s decision to the league.

The decision to delay the vote pleased opponents of the policy. Both sides said they plan to muster support for their view before the next vote in December.

Autumn Leva, director of policy and communication for the Minnesota Family Council, said her group will be “more than happy to bring in another viewpoint” as discussions continue. She said one problem is the policy is silent about how religiously affiliated private schools that are part of the state league will have to accommodate transgender students if they are visiting from other schools.

“What if the Christian schools can’t accommodate, or do not allow their girls to compete with a team that has a boy on it, for safety reasons?” she said. “Does the private school have to forfeit?”

The ad in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune was placed by a different group, the Minnesota Child Protection League, which on its Web site opposed the policy in part because there are no “accommodations made for those who believe that gender is a biological and genetic reality, not a social choice.”

The group suggested that girls could be at risk of greater injury on the field if they are playing alongside “biological boys.” And it warned that the policy could mean a transgender girl, with intact male anatomy, could shower next to other girls or bunk with them on overnight trips, putting them at risk of sexual assault.

The accusations galled advocates for gay and transgender youth, who say transgender kids are much more likely to use private stalls to change or shower rather than risk someone seeing their bodies. They say transgender girls who have been permitted to play on girls’ teams have not outstripped their teammates in ability. And they say it is unfair to characterize these children, who are often more vulnerable than their classmates, as predators.

“It absolutely misrepresents the reality of what it means to be transgender,” said Alison Yocom, a Minneapolis mother to a transgender 11-year-old boy who is undergoing hormone therapy.

“You’re not a boy showering next to a girl,” she said. “A transgender girl is a girl. There’s a difference between your parts and your gender, and I know it’s hard to understand and there is a lot of controversy around this, but to be misgendered as a boy when you are actually a trans girl is incredibly offensive.”

Read this article today - FWIW, this whole transgender movement didn't just happen overnight during the Obama administration - seeds were planted for years and years. For example, the whole Title IX nonsense pushed by the feminists in the 70's opened the doors for allowing girls to play on boys sports teams. Ultimately - what Title IX has done is created unequally against the BOYS athletic teams(when it was designed, or supposedly, to have equal funding for both boys and girls athletics).

Just look at some of the language/buzzwords used in this article.

Two Hillcrest Middle School girls make football team
8/8/2010

TUSCALOOSA | Hillcrest Middle School football players Jade Lindsey, 13, and Stephanie Lowery, 12, are now experts at kicking, passing and tackling.

The first girls to join the Hillcrest Middle School football team challenged the status quo by going out for spring practice this year. Competing against more than 100 guys, Lindsey and Lowery endured the two weeks of spring drills and were among the 70 players who made the cut and were selected for the roster.

“They’re some tough girls,” Hillcrest Middle School athletics director and football coach TaMarcus Pruitt said. “I started out with 128 total players, and now I’m down to 70 after several guys quit.”

While Lindsey and Lowery weren’t the only girls to try out, they were the only two who made the team. According to Pruitt, the girls’ athleticism set them apart from the other girls and many of the boys on the team. Padded up for tackling, the only thing that sets them apart are their long blonde ponytails.

“It’s hard to tell a girl you can’t do something,” Pruitt said. “When they came out onto the field, they were ready to play.

“You can’t judge a player on their gender. To me, they’re just players.”

While they had little prior football experience, both players were determined.

“When she was little, she wanted to be the first female football player for Alabama,” Lindsey’s mother, Tracy, said. “She’s always been a tomboy. All her friends are boys. She likes to do what boys do, but looks like a girl.

**So it's OK for boys to be sissies then?

Playing football is a balancing act for the two girls. In addition to football, Lindsey models on the weekends, runs cross country in the fall and track during the spring and is also on her church softball team. Lowery, who has played tennis for club teams, was ready to try something new and felt she was just as good, if not better, than the boys going out for the team.

**Well, hate to say it - but these "church"'s 501c3 statuses and using perverted bible versions have all but blinded them.

Lindsey is currently working at safety, while Lowery has played at both cornerback and wide receiver.

“The girls at school think we’re awesome. No one thought we’d make it through summer practice, but we did,” Lindsey said.

The girls’ presence on the team has made for mixed reactions.

“In the beginning the players said they didn’t want to hit a girl, but I told them that if they wanted to play, they were going to play football. They were hesitant at first, but they’ve definitely accepted them,” Pruitt said.

According to Darnell Webb, a Hillcrest Middle School player, the boys were worried about the girls getting injured. But after Lindsey continued to practice with a cast after breaking two fingers, Webb lost all doubts.

“It hasn’t been hard playing with the girls because they do what we do, and they work hard at it too,” Webb said.

Lowery doesn’t hold anything back.

“The guys are either scared to hit us (or) some are extra rough,” she said. “If they do hit me hard, I just hit them back.”

On the field, players endure the same heat and drills. Off the field, the girls and guys dress in separate quarters. The middle school plays on the high school field and uses the varsity field house. An old office has been converted into a locker room for the girls.

While this fall will mark Lindsey’s first and last football season at Hillcrest Middle School before graduating to the high school level, Lowery has two years to play before going on to Hillcrest High School. Asked if they will consider trying out for high school football, both girls laughed.

“This year was mostly just for fun. At the high school level, I wouldn’t want to risk getting hurt,” Lindsey said.

“I know I want to play again, but I’m iffy about high school,” Lowery said.

Lindsey’s mother isn’t sure what the future will bring.

“I don’t know how far she’s going to take it,” Tracy Lindsey said. “I don’t think her build will allow her to take it much further because she’s tall and lanky.

“I don’t know if it’s just a phase she’s going through, but I know she’s been playing football with boys since she was little.”

Hillcrest Middle School, undefeated for the last three seasons, won the city-county championship last year with an 8-0 record.

Pruitt will select the team’s starters when fall practice begins next week. Hillcrest will play in a jamboree against Hueytown Middle School on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.

“I play the best 11 players who play,” the coach said. “These girls have all my respect as players. We have 70 kids, and I try to play as many as possible.”

Romams 1:25  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

1Timothy 5:14  I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
1Ti 5:15  For some are already turned aside after Satan.

Titus 2:3  The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Tit 2:4  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
Tit 2:5  To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

1Kings 14:24  And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

School District Issues Handouts Urging Teachers to Stop Calling Kids ‘Boys and Girls’

A school district in Nebraska is facing opposition over its teacher and administrative training, which urges faculty to stop using gender-specific terms such as “boys and girls,” but to rather utilize more inclusive language so as to accommodate transgender students or those who don’t think they fit into any gender.

Parent Rachel Terry recently told the Lincoln Journal Star that she plans to attend the Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) board meeting on Oct. 14 to express concern over several handouts that were issued to teachers to promote the use of more gender-neutral terms. One of the documents, which is now available online, is produced by the organization Gender Spectrum and outlines “12 Easy Steps On the Way to Gender Inclusiveness.”

“Don’t use phrases such as ‘boys and girls,’ ‘you guys,’ ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ and similarly gendered expressions to get kids’ attention,” it instructs. “Instead say things like ‘calling all readers,’ or ‘hey campers’ or ‘could all of the athletes come here.’ Create classroom names and then ask all of the ‘purple penguins’ to meet at the rug.”

The document urges teachers to include other options besides just boy or girl in their speech.

“When you find it necessary to reference gender, say ‘boy, girl, both or neither,'” it states. “When asked why, use this as a teachable moment. Emphasize to students that your classroom recognizes and celebrates the gender diversity of all students.”

The list of steps also asks teachers to avoid separating the boys from the girls because of their identity, but to rather find other differences that aren’t gender specific.

“Avoid asking kids to line up as boys or girls or separating them by gender,” it reads. “Instead, use things like ‘odd and even birth date,’ or ‘Which would you choose: skateboards or bikes/milk or juice/dogs or cats/summer or winter/talking or listening.'”

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that other handouts discuss the “continuum of sex and gender, and that the human condition doesn’t operate on a strict binary system of male and female.”

Student Services Director Russ Uhing said that the purpose of the documents is to help make students feel more welcomed, especially homosexual or transgender students, which he said run a greater risk of having mental issues or committing suicide.

“The agenda we’re promoting is to help all kids succeed,” also stated Brenda Leggiardo, LPS coordinator of social workers and counselors. “If there’s a staff member that’s uninformed and unsupportive, that can be pretty scary for a family maybe struggling to understand transgender issues themselves.”

Superintendent Steve Joel additionally outlined that although the training is in place, teachers are not required to eliminate gender-specific terms.

“Never once has anyone inside our system mandated that a teacher take [the words] ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ or ‘ladies’ and ‘gentlemen’ out of their interactions with children or interaction with adults,” he said.

But Terry says that she is still concerned that the district is using taxpayer dollars to push the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) agenda.

“By sidelining academic teacher training and replacing it with social re-engineering, the LPS administration has placed a higher priority on social reformation than on education,” she wrote in an email to other parents, who she urged to attend next week’s meeting.

Like the article I posted a couple of days ago above - just like that young teenage girl(from 4 years ago) who joined her middle school's football team. She isn't a "lesbian", per se - but nonetheless since she was real little, she identified herself with boys, and such played recreational sports with them et al.

This is something that's been conditioned for a long, long time on the masses(and not just overnight under Obama's watch) - to not identify a specific gender toward each other, but treat each other like we're "one and the same".

And for that matter too - all of the perversions have taken on a gender-neutral approach(not just the 2011 T-NIV, although that's the worst one). I guess this is not surprising as these satanic groups like the freemasons and the rcc believing in a male/female mixture.

Genesis 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

She likes to do what boys do, but looks like a girl.”

Like we were saying, the seeds for the whole transgender movement did NOT sprout overnight(nor during Obama's admin alone). Saw this Yahoo just now. They showed the picture of the young boy being "transformed" into a young girl on the Yahoo page - maybe I shouldn't be shocked by this, but he looked EXACTLY like a girl!(and not some fake transvestite). I know the strong delusion won't happen until the ToJT, but nonetheless it's as if we're witnessing it right now!

The New Face of Transgender Youth

What defines gender? Is it biology, the heart and mind, or some combination of both? As the debate surrounding transgender children swirls, one girl is sharing her personal story in the hope that she can help others.

Jazz Jennings was born a boy, but started to show leanings toward a feminine side at only 15 months old. By age 2, Jazz started to verbalize her feelings that "she was a girl," and by 5 she was one of the youngest people ever to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria ― a persistent unease with the characteristics of one's gender, accompanied by a strong identification with the opposite gender.

After the diagnosis, Jazz's incredibly supportive family decided to embrace her inner feelings and allowed her to start transitioning from male to female while she was only in kindergarten. Although she was teased on occasion, Jazz maintained her outgoing personality and never let anyone stand in the way of her confidence about her gender identity.

Now, at 14, Jazz has co-authored an illustrated memoir aimed at children called "I Am Jazz." The book chronicles the early years of Jazz's life, from her diagnosis to her struggles at school, and it's not just for kids in the LGBTQ community but for anyone who feels like they don't fit in.

As the country struggles with how to accommodate transgender students in the public school system, Jazz continues to be an important advocate for young people with gender dysphoria as she tries to facilitate fair treatment for other children in her situation.

Just weeks after being named one of Time magazine's "25 Most Influential Teens of 2014," Jazz sat down with Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric to discuss the challenges she faced while growing up and the motivation behind her new book.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's come to a point now where you just can't tell the difference b/w males and females anymore(I'm not talking about outward appearance alone, that is). It's not like we're seeing fake transvestites anymore.

And also - the whole feminist movement(which planted the LGBT seeds) came about in the 70's - the same decade when the NIV perversion came out.(which spawned many other gender-neutral perversions)

I believe it was bro Nephtali(who does weekly audio videos on YT) who exposed last year parents allowing their babies listen to rock music - the videos he showed was when they turned off this music, the babies started crying loudly. Then when they turned it back on, the babies were back in the content stage.

Pt being that there's alot of sodomy messages in this abomination rock music(and not to mention too sodomites are running rampant in CCM). Ultimately, I'm not surprised that "transgender" children are coming about now.

We ARE living in the days of Lot!

Transgender student to play high school sport
10/23/14

TUCSON - A transgender student will soon be competing in Arizona high school sports.

The Arizona Interscholastic Association, the organization that regulates high school athletics, approved a transgender student's appeal to play on a team Monday.

The AIA board is not revealing the sport, school or gender of the student to protect his or her privacy.

Monicia Porter was watching her son play a football game at Tucson High School Thursday.

"It doesn't bother me too much," Porter said. "I mean, if you can go for it, good. I just don't want anybody being injured or hurt."

Tony Hernandez had 2 sons playing at Thursday's game. He does not oppose the AIA decision but said there could be issues in locker rooms.

"It would make some problems," Hernandez said. "But if they can do it, more power to them."

Abby Louise Jensen is a transgender woman and advocate for transgender issues.

"I remember praying to wake up as a girl when I was 7 or 8 years old and being very confused about that
," she said. "I actually transitioned to living as Abby full-time in 2007."

Jensen said the recent court decision allowing same-sex marriages in Arizona was major progress, but she has more work to do for the transgender community.

"Overall, people typically say that the trans community is probably about 20 years behind where the gay and lesbian community is, in terms of public acceptance and understanding, and also legal protections," Jensen said.

She was not very surprised by the AIA decision.

"Every student deserves the opportunity to engage in athletics and other extracurricular activities," Jensen said. "Those things are so important to improve well-being and self esteem."

The decision was not an overall approval for future transgender athletes. First, the student's school has to approve. The AIA will handle the appeal on a case-by-case basis.

AIA is not considering any other appeals at this time.

Even worse, look at the complacent reactions to this.

Isaiah 66:3  He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
Isa 66:4  I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

A third of Fortune 500 companies now cover transgender health care
A new report highlights dramatic changes in how corporations treat trans employees

11/18/14

The number of Fortune 500 companies willing pay for sex reassignment surgeries and other transgender-related healthcare has gone from zero in 2002 to 169 this year, according to a new report from the Human Rights Campaign.

The report, which ranks corporations on their treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans employees, also found that more than half of corporations with more than 500 employees that participated in the survey now cover the procedures. That’s 418 firms.

Some of the biggest names in corporate America are among those who have signed up to cover the procedures, at up to $75,000 per employee. Facebook Inc., Visa, Starbucks Corp., CVS Health Corp. and Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. are just some of the firms that decided this year to begin covering the procedures for their workers for the first time.

“The jump in terms of employers adopting transgender benefits has been the most dramatic of any single aspect of the Corporate Equality Index in its entire history,” said Deena Fidas, the director of the Human Rights Campaign’s Workplace Equality Program, which has been producing the report for more than a decade.

Ratings in the Corporate Equality Index are derived from a look at five major areas, including: recruiting efforts, whether firms have explicit gender identity and sexual orientation anti-discrimination protections, and if they have extended health care and other benefits to same-sex partners.

While the vast majority of Fortune 500 companies now have nondiscrimination policies that explicitly protect employees from being fired for their gender identity or orientation, companies have moved much more slowly when it comes to covering transgender health care.

“Across a lot of the businesses, very well-meaning people were quite anxious about these benefits,” Fidas said. “They wondered if there’d be murmurings among the workforce.”

It took many “uphill conversations” to convince some big employers that transition-related health care is not elective or cosmetic for transgender people, Fidas said.

Such health care can include: sex reassignment surgery, breast augmentation or mastectomy, hormone therapy, short-term leave and counseling.

The vast majority of health insurance plans explicitly ban the coverage of any transition-related care, grouping those procedures with elective cosmetic surgery.

This has slowly begun to change as mainstream medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, have announced new positions in recent years stating that sex reassignment surgery is not elective for some transgender people. (The American Medical Association said in 2008 that “gender dysphoria” is a “serious medical condition” that can result in “suicidality and death” without proper treatment.)

“Transition-related care is absolutely essential to trans people who are seeking to be themselves,” said Lisa Mottet, deputy executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality. “In many cases, this care is actually life-saving.”

Not every transgender person wants surgery, but having it as an option is crucial, she said.

Some state officials are also beginning to move in that direction. Eight states have banned insurance companies from explicitly excluding surgeries for transgender people, and a handful of states even offer coverage for the procedures through Medicaid.

The Human Rights Campaign says that businesses that have decided to provide the care have not had to increase insurance premiums. The cost has been “so small it’s not quantifiable,” Fidas said. That might be in part because so few people in the country are transgender. The Williams Institute at UCLA estimates the transgender population at one third of one percent.

“There’s not one number that will tell you how many people are transgender in corporate America,” Fidas said. “We’re on the brink of seeing more people being able to be visible in their jobs and to be able to be more open about the fact that they’re transgender.”

Nancy Kelly, the director of compensation and benefits at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, said larger companies can no longer remain competitive if they are not offering transgender benefits. The bank decided this year to begin to cover transition-related health care services as of Jan 1. Kelly said she is not sure if any of the bank’s 1,200 employees are transgender or will want to access the new benefits when they become available. The Federal Reserve banks of Boston, Cleveland and Richmond also decided to offer the benefits this year.

“It was not a particular employee request, it was more about diversity and inclusion and being a competitive employer,” Kelly said.

A CVS spokeswoman said the company changed its health coverage to include sex reassignment surgery to "provide all colleagues with meaningful choices regarding their health care."

District ordered to pay transgender student $75K
12/2/14

ORONO, Maine (AP) — A Maine court has awarded the family of a transgender girl $75,000 in a settlement of her discrimination lawsuit against a school district where administrators made her use a staff, not student, bathroom.

Nicole Maines won her lawsuit against the Orono school district in January before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, which ruled that the school district violated the Maine Human Rights Act. It was the first time a state high court in the U.S. concluded that a transgender person should use the bathroom of the gender with which they identify.

A lower court awarded her the financial settlement last week. It will go to the Maines family, the Boston-based Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, and Berman Simmons, a Portland law firm that represented Maines, said GLAD spokeswoman Carisa Cunningham.

The Penobscot County Superior order, dated Nov. 25, represents the conclusion of the court case that began in 2009 when the Maines family and the Maine Human Rights Commission sued the school district. The order prohibits the district from "refusing access by transgender students to school restrooms that are consistent with their gender identity."

School administrators across the country are grappling with the issue.

Nicole, now 17, is a biological male who identified as a girl beginning at age 2.

Nicole was using the girls' bathroom in her elementary school until the grandfather of a fifth-grade boy complained to administrators. The Orono school district determined that she should use a staff bathroom, but her parents said that amounted to discrimination.

Maine District to Pay $75,000 in Transgender Restroom Suit

A school district in Maine has been ordered to pay $75,000 to a homosexuality advocacy group after a seven-year legal battle regarding a transgender student’s right to use the restroom of his choice.

17-year-old student Wyatt Maines began living as a girl in third grade. The Orono school district allowed Maines to go by the name “Nicole” and use the girls’ restroom. After a bullying incident at Asa Adams Elementary School, Maines was required to use single-stall restrooms normally reserved for faculty and staff and was assigned an adult to escort him for his safety.

Maines’ lawyers from the Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) argued that the special arrangements led to bullying and forced Maines to become an outsider.

The district must now award money to GLAD for legal costs as well as a financial reward.
