Parents angry after school tells 13-year-olds they can have sex, choose gender

Students at one northern California high school are learning more than just the birds and the bees.

Along with local area groups, some parents are irate that their children’s sex ed class at Acalanes High School in Lafayette is being taught by employees of Planned Parenthood without their prior knowledge. They are also fuming over the methods and materials being used, including a checklist that asks students if they are “ready for sex” and another worksheet that describes how to give and obtain consent, as well as a diagram that uses a "genderbread" person for lessons in gender identity.

“[Parents] are very concerned,” Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, a non-profit legal organization that is assisting the concerned parents, told FoxNews.com. “Planned Parenthood is not exactly the best when it comes to putting young people first.

“They get more grants from the promiscuity of children,” he added. “The material they have provided was material that mirrored their agenda.”

It was the parents of ninth-graders at Acalanes that started raising questions after their children told them one instructor threw a model of female reproductive organs at one student and that many felt the sessions were pressuring them to have sex.

“Some of the kids were distracted because it was divergent from what they were taught at home,” Dacus said.

Acalanes Union School District officials told the institute the class was not taught by teachers but rather the staff from a local Planned Parenthood in nearby Walnut Creek.

Included in the materials provided to students were documents and worksheets that included a checklist entitled, “Sex Check! Are You Ready For Sex?” in which the 13 and 14-year-old students are asked questions such as if they have water–based lubricants and condoms and if they could handle a possible infection or pregnancy. Another worksheet reads like a how-to on obtaining consent from a possible sexual partner and offers possible statements like “Do you want to go back to my place?” and “Is it OK if I take my pants off?”

They were also taught about gender identity with the “Genderbread Person,” a play on the name of the holiday cookie, to teach them on how to identify themselves as either, “agender,” “bigender,” and “two spirit” to name a few.

“Our daughter took this course two years ago, after being provided the opportunity to opt out of the class,” John Lyons, whose two children attend AHS, told FoxNews.com. “The opt-out form provided a handful of bullet points about what the course would cover. After completing the course, it was apparent that some of what was ‘taught’ went beyond what was represented on the opt-out form. This is disappointing to us, because we are actually strong supporters of teen sex education in a peer environment to complement our home-based discussions.”

Lyons added that he and his wife were dismayed by how the students were instructed. He said valuable and factual information was delivered in a manner that seemed to promote Planned Parenthood's agenda regarding 'social justice' through sex education of teens.”

Officials for the Planned Parenthood’s Northern California region did not respond to requests for comment.

Parents in the district have started a petition that has garnered over 100 signatures and have asked that AHS provide a sex ed preview course offered live to parents by the same person who teaches the kids, prior to their taking the course, to give parents the full disclosure and knowledge necessary to make an informed decision regarding their child's participation. So far, the school has not responded to their requests. They are also asking for the school system to develop and implement their own curriculum.

The Pacific Justice Institute has warned Acalanes Union High School District it may be in violation of the law.

“We have not seen any documentation to indicate that distribution of the surveys complied with either Federal law of the California Education Code as to parental notification,” reads a section of PJI’s letter, citing that a federal amendment on the protection of pupil rights states that schools must acquire written parental consent before a student is required to participate in surveys, analysis, or evaluations.

The also reference a California education code that contains the same requirements.

“Notably, the law does not merely require notice; it requires specific parental permission for this type of survey to be administered,” reads the letter.

Officials for the Acalanes Union High School District did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A number of parents are expected to come out in force to a public district meeting on Wednesday to demand that their concerns be addressed.

Arkansas Voters Repeal Local Law Allowing ‘Transgendered’ Men in Womens’ Restrooms.

Voters in Fayetteville, Arkansas have repealed a law passed by city council earlier this year that would allow men who identify as women to use womens’ restrooms and vice versa.

By a vote of 52 to 48 percent, residents rejected Ordinance 119 approved in August by the Fayetteville City Council, which voted 6-2 for the controversial measure. In addition to making provision for “transgendered” persons to use the restroom of their choice, the law also prohibited landlords from turning away homosexual couples who sought to cohabitate on their property, banned employers from rejecting homosexual applicants, and disallowed businesses from refusing services that pertained to homosexuality. Non-compliance would result in criminal penalties.

Following the passage of the ordinance, Duncan Campbell, an area pastor, formed a group called Repeal 119 and launched a petition drive that obtained enough signatures to warrant a special election over the matter.

“We wanted to repeal the ordinance because we didn’t believe it made Fayetteville a fairer city or a freer city,” Campbell told local television station KFSM. “It did just the opposite. It was called the Civil Rights Ordinance, but it was misnamed. It was an ordinance that actually took away civil rights and freedom from people. It criminalized civil behavior. It didn’t accomplish the stated purpose of the ordinance and it was crafted by an outside group; it wasn’t something Fayetteville residents put together.”

The Christian legal organization Liberty Council also sent a letter to Mayor Lioneld Jordan to assert that the law discriminated against Christians, noting that bakers, florists and photographers have been punished in other states for declining to facilitate activities that are sinful. It also pointed back to a case in 2012 where police were called on a “transgendered” Washington man who was exposing his reproductive organs in the girls’ locker room. The man cited the state’s non-discrimination ordinance as his basis for protection.

“This CRO (Civil Rights Ordinance) traverses the line between permissible regulation and impermissible burden on the rights of religious business owners throughout the City,” it wrote. “Indeed, the CRO would force churches and other religious entities to permit individuals with a ‘perceived gender identity’ contrary to the biological reality of their birth to use the restroom of whatever gender they identify with on a given day.”

Michelle Duggar of the popular reality show “19 Kids and Counting” likewise participated in a robocall warning residents about the proposal.

“The Fayetteville City Council is voting on an ordinance this Tuesday night that would allow men—Yes, I said men—to use women’s and girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, showers, sleeping areas and other areas that are designated for females only,” she stated. “I don’t believe the citizens of Fayetteville would want males with past child predator convictions that claim they are female to have a legal right to enter private areas that are reserved for women and girls.”

But following Duggar’s participation in the campaign, some created their own petition seeking to pull the family’s television show from TLC.

“The claim that this ordinance would provide predators with access to women’s restrooms in order to assault or leer at girls or women is nothing more than fear-mongering and spreading ignorance and hatred,” it read.

However, in a close tally of 7,523 votes in favor of repealing the ordinance and 7,040 votes in favor of leaving it on the books, residents struck down the controversial measure.

“Homosexual activists are intolerant,” commented Liberty Counsel’s Matt Staver in a statement. “The repeal of this radical and immoral law is a clear reminder that when good people unite and pastors speak up, their voices will be heard and they can make a difference. This ordinance sought to criminalize Judeo-Christian values. The American people should wake up and fight to preserve our inalienable right to freedom of conscience.”

Don't be fooled by these "Christian" celebrities - they are more or less being used in this Hegelian Dialectic game to join forces with the NWO(ie-the "religious right" minions).

The Duggars are likely MK-Ultra Mind Controlled slaves as well.

As for Arkansas - recently they overturned their sodomy marriage ban. Where are the Duggars' concerns over this?

Gender-neutral single-stall restrooms now required in West Hollywood

A  West Hollywood law requiring all single-stall restrooms in businesses and public places to be gender-neutral will go into effect this week.

The law, which will have no impact on multiple-stall restrooms, mandates that any facility designed for use by no more than one person not be restricted to a specific sex or gender identity by signage, design or installation of fixtures.

Businesses and public facilities will have 60 days to comply by replacing existing signs on the exterior of single-stall restrooms to indicate that they are gender neutral and make any needed changes to make them accessible to all people.

The law, which takes effect Thursday, is intended to make public restrooms more welcoming and safer for transgender and gender non-conforming people, people with disabilities or with personal attendants and for people with children of a different gender, according to city officials.

In April 2010, a transgender graduate student was attacked in a Cal State Long Beach restroom. The student said his assailant knew his name, pushed him into a bathroom stall and carved the word “it” onto his chest.

West Hollywood Transgender Advisory Board member Drian Juarez mentioned the attack during the June meeting in which the City Council passed the gender-neutral restroom ordinance.

“Thank you for discussing gender neutral restrooms here in the city of West Hollywood and for giving that protection to transgender people,” Juarez said. “I believe that the city of West Hollywood truly is a jewel within the LGBT community.”

Councilwoman Abbe Land, who initiated the ordinance, said at a council meeting last month that the law will “provide a safe and accessible environment for all people.”

“I hope that we can encourage other cities to adopt this,” she said. “It’s really so easy when you think about it, and I’m glad that we’re one of the cities that is moving forward on that.”

The law, officials said, also will benefit “the many people who have waited in line for a gender-specific restroom when a restroom for a gender for which they don’t identify remained empty,” according to a city statement.

In 2013, the Philadelphia City Council passed a law requiring new or renovated city-owned buildings to include gender-neutral restrooms. Washington recently began threatening fines for businesses and other entities that do not comply with a 2006 law that prohibits single-occupancy public restrooms from being labeled as gender-specific.

Transgender Students Plan “****-In” to Protest Men’s Bathrooms

Students at Simon Fraser University are planning a “****-in” to protest the fact that Men’s bathrooms on campus allow only men to use them.

Transgender students and their “allies” will go into bathrooms and refuse to leave until the campus officials allow people of any gender use it. During the protest, they will post a sign that reads, “This toilet has been liberated from the gender binary” on the bathroom door.

The protest is to take place on February 18th at 1 pm.

“I think that, when we divide places to go to the bathroom by men and women, we’re creating identity centers essentially and not just having places where people can go pee or wash their hands,” said Nathan Lyndsay, 24, who is a “gender, sexuality, and women’s studies student at SFU.”

Lyndsay identifies himself as a transmasculine person.

“When a trans or gender-variant person who needs to use a washroom needs to go,” Lyndsay explained, “it’s an issue of safety. So, maybe, if they go to the men’s bathroom, they’re going to fear being raped or being attacked physically, whereas in the women’s bathroom, they’re going to be verbally threatened.”

Thus, Lyndsay wants male bathrooms to be “gender-inclusive” and has organized the protest.

“Women and trans and gender-variant folks face similar violence from cis men,” Lydsay added. “I do think it’s important to respect women’s need to have a space just for women. I do think that is important. I think that there’s no real reason why cis men need to have their own space.”

Planet Fitness Revokes Membership After Transgender Complaint Violated 'Judgment Free Zone' Policy
"No judgment" gym makes judment, kicks out concerned member

A female member at a Midland, Mich., Planet Fitness had her membership revoked after complaining that she saw a man inside the women's locker room. She was told that he is allowed in there because he is transgender and identifies as a woman. When she took her complaint to the corporate offices, she was told she had violated the company's trademarked "Judgment Free Zone" policy and her membership was canceled.

Yvette Cormier told WNEM that she was "stunned and shocked" when she saw a man walk into the women's locker room as she was getting undressed.

"He looked like a man. He did not look like a woman," Cormier said. "This is very unprofessional. This is very scary," she added.

After complaining to the front desk, Cormier was told that the other member was allowed in the locker room "because that's the sex he wants to be." Cormier explained that she understands that people can "identify" as their opposite gender, but said she was "caught off guard" because he clearly looked like a man.

Cormier also said that she is upset because Planet Fitness failed to notify her of this potential scenario and now wants other women to know before they decide to join. The company told WNEM that Cormier's complaint was "inappropriate and disruptive."

A local transgender professor, Char Davenport, spoke to the news outlet and said Cormier's reaction was not a surprise and applauded how Planet Fitness handled the situation. Davenport did suggest that providing private showers and unisex facilities would "go a long way" in order to avoid similar situations in the future. Davenport feels that it would be wrong for Planet Fitness to have to notify its customers of transgender members because it "could be construed as negative."

A gym in nearby Flint, MI -- Peak Fitness -- reached out to Cormier and offered her a free one-year membership with training after the owners heard her story.

8 BYU Students Got Catfished by a Woman Pretending to Be a Mormon Man
Yes, catfishing is real, and it's not just on MTV.

A 24-year-old woman from Texas convinced at least eight Brigham Young University students that she was a Mormon man — and tricked them into falling in love. After comparing notes about their relationships, these women realized they'd been "catfished."

According to the Brigham Young Universe, the woman went by two aliases: Hyrum Young and Hunter Anderson, and used photos of her friends to create false personas. "Hyrum" or "Hunter" would start with a text, claiming he got the number through a mutual friend. The unnamed hoaxer had kept up the façade for years with various women, getting close to them through text messages and phone calls.

Hunter and Hyrum would, of course, make lots of excuses about why they couldn't meet their girlfriends in person, which would start fights. But it was those arguments that cracked the hoax for good. Hilary Hayes met Sara Van Wagenen, who had also been in touch with a guy who wouldn't meet her in person. They compared notes and realized they were being played. They found more and more women who had been victims too.

They tracked down their catfisher through an Idaho mission group that both Hunter and Hyrum had mentioned. They then filed a "no contact" order through the BYU police.

"I was really, really hurt," Van Wagenen told Fox 13 Now. "I was angry and I was mad. I was really hurt and confused. I had a lot of ill feelings towards this person … because I had trusted them."

The hoaxer, who spoke with the Universe on condition of anonymity, said she played those parts because she's gay and Mormon, and felt excluded and ashamed. "I catfished people to hide who I am inside, never with the intent to hurt anyone," she said. She said she regrets the pain she caused and no longer actively attends Mormon church services.

Hayes wrote on Facebook that after she went public, two more women contacted her to tell her they too were victims of the hoaxer. "Finding these girls and preventing more people from being manipulated and hurt is our purpose in all of this," she wrote. She is now working on a capstone project called CyberIQ, which teaches teenagers about online safety.

Missouri City Votes to Repeal ‘Bathroom Bill’ as Megachurch Pastor Speaks Out

Residents in Springfield, Missouri have voted to repeal a law that provided special protections to those who identify as homosexuals and transgenders as local pastors have spoken out on their concerns about the issue.

The Springfield City Council had added the protections to the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance last fall, which allow for men who identify as women—and vice versa—to be allowed to use the restroom and locker room of their choice. It also prohibited landlords from turning away homosexuals who want to live together and banned business owners from refusing a homosexual or transgender for employment based on their lifestyle.

But those who opposed the move petitioned the council to either repeal the measure or put it up for a vote. As the council chose the latter, the addition went up for a vote on Tuesday.

51.4 percent of voters, or 15,347 residents, voted to have the language appealed, while 48.6 percent of voters, or 14,493 residents, voted to keep the addition in place.

One of the most vocal opponents of the bill was John Lindell, pastor of the 9,000-member James River Church. He delivered a message last month urging his congregation to vote to repeal the law.

“We all have desires that are warped as a result of our fallen nature: pride, selfishness, greed, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, lust, envy, covetousness, chemical addiction,” Lindell said. “Our desire for things God has forbidden is a reflection of how sin has distorted us, rather than a reflection of how Christ has made us.”

He encouraged congregants that change is possible—for any stronghold—as the reason for Christ’s death was to set mankind free from the power of sin.

“It is possible for someone who has practiced a life of adultery to stop,” Lindell declared. “It is possible for someone who has been a life-long alcoholic to stop. It is possible for somebody who has a cutting tongue and a big mouth to stop. It is possible for someone who is engaged in homosexual behavior to stop.”

According to the Springfield News Leader, Lindell explained that the ordinance is wrongful as not only is the Bible clear that homosexuality is against God’s creation order, but the amended language tramples the rights of Christians who believe God’s word. He suggested that it forced Christians into the closet while homosexuals come out of it.

“This ordinance reduces freedom of religion to freedom of worship,” Lindell said. “In other words, you can believe what you want within the confines of the four walls of the church as long as you don’t live it outside of the church.”

He continued to urge his congregation to think biblically as they go to vote, reminding them that although critics say that he should not speak on such issues in church, it is his duty as a pastor.

“Martin Luther, the great reformer, said this: ‘If you preach the gospel in all aspects—with the exception of the issues which deal specifically with your time—you are not preaching the gospel at all,'” Lindell declared.

Assemblies of God Superintendent George Wood had also penned a letter to 35 Springfield churches, encouraging them to urge their congregations to vote for the repeal.

President Obama opens White House’s first gender-neutral bathroom

The Obama administration announced Wednesday that it had opened a gender-neutral bathroom for staff and visitors within the White House complex.

The newly designated restroom will be located in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, where much of the White House staff works, Politico reported.

The restroom is the latest in a series of symbolic steps the president has taken to protect the rights of LGBT individuals, following an executive order that bans discrimination against LGBT employees of companies that contract with the federal government, Politico reported.

“The White House allows staff and guests to use restrooms consistent with their gender identity, which is in keeping with the administration’s existing legal guidance on this issue and consistent with what is required by the executive order that took effect today for federal contractors,” said White House spokesman Jeff Tiller. “In addition, an all-gender restroom is also available in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which provides guests and staff an additional option.”

On Wednesday, White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett lauded the president’s LGBT executive order in an op-ed for The Advocate.
President Barack Obama waves as he walks across the South Lawn to board the Marine One helicopter en route to a trip to Jamaica and Panama,

“The president is determined to lead by example,” Ms. Jarrett wrote. “He has hired more openly LGBT Americans to serve in his administration than any other in history. And we have closely examined our internal policies on everything from benefits, to restroom access, to how we invite people to events, to ensure that everyone who enters this building feels safe and fully respected.”

brethren and sisters, please hang tight - I was reading 2 Timothy 3 and 2 Timothy 4:1-4 in the mall bookstore yesterday. We are in those perilous times, those denying the Lord's power, and itching ears now.

https://www.yahoo.com/parenting/when-your-5-year-old-daughter-insists-shes-a-boy-117272104342.html

Transgender awareness has skyrocketed in recent years. That’s due, in large part, to examples in pop culture ranging from “Orange Is the New Black” actress Laverne Cox and model Carmen Carrera to the Amazon hit series “Transparent” and the chatter surrounding Bruce Jenner’s shifting appearance — set to reach a crescendo on Friday night as Diane Sawyer’s exclusive interview with the sports icon airs.

Huckabee Hyperbole: 'Coach, I Think I'd Rather Shower With The Girls Today'
"You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous, doesn’t it?”

Video has just surfaced courtesy of WNDtv of Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee speaking at the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters Convention in February. In his remarks, the former Arkansas governor joked that if someone told him he could have felt like a woman in high school, he would have showered with the girls after PE.

The context for Huckabee's comment was in reaction to city ordinances that are popping up around the country that would allow transgender people to use the bathroom of their preferred gender. He said:

For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize that the fact that we are now in city after city watching ordinances say that your 7-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom, cannot be offended and you can’t be offended, if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.

But it is what was said next that has already put the candidate under the media-shaming microscope:

Now, I wish someone had told me when I was in high school that I could've felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE. I’m pretty sure I would've found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ [crowd laughs] You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous, doesn’t it?

The Washington Post called this statement "puzzling" and said it suggests that Huckabee's campaign is "stuck in the past." New York Daily News claims Huckabee is mocking the transgender community and call what he said "shocking." As this news is quickly spreading, Huckabee will undoubtedly be expected to make a full apology for his remarks. Requests are already pouring in on social media.

In his final thoughts on the subject at the convention, Huckabee said:

And yet today we're the ones who are ridiculed and scorned because we point out the obvious. That there's something inherently wrong with forcing little children to be a part of this social experiment. I’m not against anybody. I’d just like for somebody to bring their brain to work someday and not leave it on the bed stand when they show up to govern.

The clip was captured by and is featured over at BuzzFeed. The conservative site World Net Daily posted the entire video on YouTube, but as of today, it appears as though their YouTube account has been suspended "due to multiple or severe violations of… spam, gaming, [or] misleading content."

TRANSGENDER MMA FIGHTER GOES IN RING AGAINST AN ACTUAL WOMAN AND NEARLY BEATS HER TO DEATH (VIDEO)
Geoffrey Grider | June 9, 2015 | 59 Comments

TRANSGENDER MIXED MARTIAL ARTS COMPETITOR FALLON FOX IS FACING NEW CRITICISMS AFTER BREAKING THE EYE SOCKET OF HIS LAST OPPONENT.

EDITOR’S NOTE: There is no surgery available to change your gender, you are what you are born as. Men who become transgender and “convert” to being a woman are still men with all the DNA, testosterone and body strength that goes with it. Allowing a man to call himself a “woman” and to then be allowed to get in a ring and fight an actual woman borders on criminal behavior. If MMA is smart, they will put an immediate stop to this nonsense right away.

On Saturday, Fox defeated Tamikka Brents by TKO at 2:17 of the first round of their match. In addition to the damaged orbital bone that required seven staples, Brents received a concussion. In a post-fight interview this week, she told Whoa TV that “I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life.”

“I’ve fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can’t answer whether it’s because [he] was born a man or not, because I’m not a doctor,” she stated. “I can only say, I’ve never felt so overpowered ever in my life, and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right. ”

His “grip was different,” she added. “I could usually move around in the clinch against…females but couldn’t move at all in Fox’s clinch.”

Fox’s gender controversy is not new. In March 2013, after a 39-second knockout victory, it was revealed that Fox had not told the MMA community about his sex-change operation, which took place in 2006. That bout was the fifth straight first-round victory for the then-37-year old Fox, including his three amateur bouts, and his second victory as a professional fighter.

A video of the Brents fight taken by a ringside fan shows Fox throwing several powerful knees to the face and torso of Brents at the start of the match, who pulled guard to protect herself. Soon, Brents turned her back to avoid damage, where she took approximately 45 seconds of elbow and fist strikes – many blocked by her hands and arms – before the referee stopped the fight. source

Boston City Hall Gets Gender Neutral Bathrooms

If you have any business to conduct in Boston City Hall, you will be able to share the bathroom with people of the opposite sex or any sex for that matter.

"Mayor Martin J. Walsh established gender-neutral bathrooms in Boston's City Hall Thursday, according to a statement from the city. The move comes during Boston's Pride Week, which celebrates the LGBT community and raises awareness of discrimination."

USA Today explains the new bathrooms "can be used by anyone including individuals who may identify as transgender, caregivers helping someone of another gender and parents with small children."

Children.

"Boston thrives on diversity, and is an inclusive city," Walsh said in the statement. "This change will foster a safe and welcoming environment for employees and visitors."

The bathrooms are located outside the Mayor's office and the city council chambers.

"Gender-neutral bathrooms are important in providing a safe place for all people to use the facilities when needed without fear of harassment by others," Ruben Hopwood, a coordinator of the Transgender Health Program at Fenway Health, said in a statement, responding to the news.

Virginia Girl Who Identifies as Boy Sues School District for Being Disallowed Use of Men’s Restroom

A Virginia girl who identifies as a boy has sued her local school district in an effort to obtain permission to use the men’s restroom at school.

As previously reported, Gavin Grimm, 16, told reporters in December that she began using the boys’ restroom after obtaining permission from the school principal when she expressed disapproval over being forced to use the nurse restroom.

“I’m not a girl. Yes yes you are I’m not using the girl’s restroom,” Grimm stated. “So I said, ‘Hey, where can I use the restroom?’ … And so they said, ‘Use the nurse’s room,’ and at the time I was fine with that, because I was still afraid—I didn’t know how my peers would react. So, I didn’t want to push the envelope any further than I had to all at once.”

But she said that the option soon became a problem.

“The nurse’s office is at least a three minute walk from the class I have closest to it. It took a substantial amount of time out of my class time, and it was embarrassing,” Grimm said. “When you’re gone for 15 minutes at a time to use the bathroom, what are high schoolers gonna think? It’s humiliating and it’s alienating.”

So, the student asked the principal about the matter, who suggested that Grimm go ahead and use the boy’s restroom since she identifies as a boy. But some of the parents of the male students soon learned about the allowance, and the issue turned up before the school district.

The district soon voted to approve a policy requiring students to utilize the restroom that correlates with their biological gender, or to use a private bathroom.

And now, with the assistance of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Grimm has filed a lawsuit against the Gloucester County School District in an effort to overturn the policy.

“As a result of the School Board’s transgender restroom policy, Gavin is currently the only student in his school who must use separate private restrooms,” the complaint reads.

“The distinction stigmatizes Gavin and marks him as different from the other students; it isolates Gavin from his peers; and it exposes him to serious psychological harm,” it continues. “To avoid the stigma of having to use separate restrooms, Gavin has tried to avoid using any restroom during the school day.”

The lawsuit also asserts that “[b ]y excluding Gavin—a transgender boy—from the boys restrooms because the school board does not deem him to be ‘biologically’ male, the school board, under color of state law, has treated and continues to treat Gavin differently from similarly situated students based on his gender.”

The Christian legal organization Liberty Counsel has offered to represent the Gloucester County School Board for free.

“A student is not free to override biology, as well as the safety, privacy, and religious concerns of others, and to demand admittance into opposite-sex restrooms and locker rooms,” Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said in a statement. “While students with gender confusion should be treated with respect, that does not include disrespecting other students by admittance into opposite-sex, private spaces.”

Italian Families Protest Forced Cross-Dressing of Schoolchildren

Parents from the north of Italy have organized a massive demonstration, called “Defend Our Children,” against gender ideology in schools, which will be held this Saturday in the Saint John Lateran Square in Rome. The demonstrators will be protesting Italian educational programs that are meant to blur the sexual identity of children.

In the northern Italian city of Trieste, parents are in uproar over a taxpayer-funded elementary school program that includes dressing little boys as girls and girls as boys to overcome so-called “gender stereotypes.” Schools are calling the exercise “the game of respect,” which purportedly adopts many guidelines from the European standards on sex education, attributed to the World Health Organization.

The so-called “game of respect” consists in a box containing several cards, presenting the figures of different working roles: male and female housewives and husbands, male and female plumbers and firefighters, with the figures represented in exactly the same way to show that males and females are completely interchangeable.

There is also a card with a game called “If he were she and she were he,” where boys and girls are expected to exchange the clothes they are wearing: the boy dresses as a girl and the girl as a boy, and they discuss how they feel in that new “role.”

Parents are especially up in arms over the school district’s attempt to conceal the program and its contents from them. The father of one of the children, Amedeo Rossetti, said that in early February, he attended a PTA meeting where the program for the second semester was presented. When Rossetti posed specific questions on issues of gender, school administrators categorically denied the presence of gender-based activities at the school.

One of the goals of the protesters is the enforcement of European art. 26 regarding “informed consent,” whereby parents can ask the school to be informed before their children are introduced to courses with themes like those regarding gender theory.

Parents are also protesting a sex education program for kindergarten students intended to highlight the similarities and differences between boys’ and girls’ bodies. The program involves one child lying down and the others placing their hand first on the child’s heart to feel how it beats, then on the diaphragm to feel it rise and fall. The text reads that “obviously in the genital area children can see that they are made differently from one another.” Though the text does not specifically state that the children are to touch each other in the genital area, parents are complaining that it is “understood.”

Rossetti says that the upcoming demonstration in the Italian capital is “absolutely essential,” since it is “up to us as parents” to defend our right to oversee the education of our children. The primary responsibility for our children’s upbringing and education “depends on us and we cannot delegate it,” he said.

The spokesman for the protest, Prof. Massimo Gandolfini, said that Saturday’s demonstration was organized “to protect our children from the propaganda of gender theories that are appearing surreptitiously and in an ever more worrying way in schools.”

The event, he said, will defend the institution of marriage as composed of a man and a woman, the child’s right to have a mother figure and a father, without having to suffer as kindergarteners the propaganda of gender ideology that Pope Francis has defined as “an error of the human mind.”

Just this past Sunday, Pope Francis spoke out yet again against gender ideology and the right and duty of parents to guide their children’s education, telling them that they are the ones “primarily responsible” for their children’s formation.

The Pope said that children today “are beginning to hear strange ideas, a sort of ideological colonization that poisons the soul and the family: we must act against this.”

Francis cited a recent case where a good Christian couple with children in the first and second grade had to “re-catechize” their children in the evenings, to counteract what they were receiving “from some teachers of the school or from the textbooks that they were using.”

“This ideological colonization,” he said, “does great harm and can even destroy a society, a country or a family.”

Nevada to offer transgender health coverage starting July 1

CARSON CITY — State employees and covered family members will have health coverage for gender reassignment and other transgender procedures under a new insurance policy that takes effect July 1.

The Public Employee Benefits Program board voted in November to remove language in the state’s self-funded and HMO plans that specifically excluded therapy for gender dysphoria.

Brock Maylath, president of the advocacy group Transgender Allies Group, on Wednesday hailed the change as a “significant step” for the transgender community.

Previous language in the state insurance design plan excluded treatment designed to alter physical characteristics and any other treatment related to sex transformations.

“We commend the Nevada state PEBP board for making this significant step to ensure that transgender employees have access to lifesaving care,” Maylath said. “Medical treatment should be determined by conversations between a patient and a doctor, rather than on arbitrary exclusions created by an insurance company.”

How LGBT-friendly laws could change medicine

With same-sex marriage and the transformation of Bruce Jenner into Caitlyn Jenner in the world headlines, it’s time to ask what LGBT bioethics would look like. Timothy Murphy, of the University of Illinois College of Medicine,  foreshadows some of the major themes in the journal Bioethics.

Bioethics benefits. “Bioethics is better than it would otherwise have been, because people queer in their sexual interests and identities have challenged misconceived concepts of health and disease, challenged obstacles to access and equity in healthcare, and forced attention to professional standards in clinical care, among other things.”

Defending LGBT parenting. To show that the battle is not completely over, Murphy cites Oxford philosopher John Finnis’s implacable opposition to adoption by male and female homosexuals as “intrinsically evil”. Putting “skepticism about LGBT people as fit parents fully behind it” will be one of the first tasks of fully developed LGBT bioethics.

Promoting new reproductive technologies. In the not-too-distant future it may be possible to use stem cell technology to create synthetic gametes for gay and lesbian couples. This will allow them to raise their own genetic children. “This option would go a long way in helping transgender people express and consolidate their gender identity,” writes Murphy. Another development could be “male pregnancies”. Now that it is possible to transplant a uterus, why couldn’t males bear children?

Paying for them. Shouldn’t insurers and the government pay for these very expensive technologies, if they already cover costs for heterosexual couples? “We need to begin asking these LGBT-centric questions.”

Clarifying the scope of conscience exemptions. Denying legitimate medical services to LGBT patients should not be protected by the law. “If clinicians may turn patients away because of their perceived sinfulness or immorality, it would be difficult to set any limit on the exercise of that right … If we go that way, healthcare would be a moral bazaar, undercutting its overall value by reducing its efficiency.”

Achieving status equality. “A strong presumption in theory that LGBT people are the equals of everyone else is one very good starting point for working toward the achievement of that exactly that equality in practice.”

This particular article only hints at the panorama of changes and challenges for LGBT bioethics. But there could be many others, some quite unexpected.

For instance, in a previous article in Bioethics, Murphy saw nothing wrong with sex selection of infants. While one objection to this is the possible distortion of the roughly-equal natural sex ratio in society, Murphy points out that from an LGBT perspective, this not a significant moral problem. “Complications about who qualifies as ‘male’ and ‘female’ complicate judgments about the ratio,” he says. He concludes that “The natural sex ratio cannot be a sound moral basis for prohibiting parents from selecting the sex of their children.”

Another LGBT bioethics theorist has criticized American sex education programs which promote abstinence. Her analysis suggests that a conservative approach promotes “the terror of desire” and “the proliferation of fear”. More space needs to be given to heteronormative sexualities. In other words, it seems, when parents and teachers explain the facts of life, they will need to add lots more “facts”, from detailed discussions of homosexuality to sympathetic explanations of transgender sexuality.

All this suggests there will be more and more palaver about homosexuality and related issues. But perhaps there will be less.

About 20 years ago the bioethicist who is now the editor of the leading journal Bioethics, Udo Schuklenk and another author, argued in the Journal of Homosexuality that research into the origins of homosexuality was unethical in the present climate. “Research into the causes of homosexuality assumes more often than not that homosexuality is one or another form of mental illness or undesirable deviance from the heterosexual norm, and should be cured.” And in another article he (and colleagues) explained that “the very motivation for seeking an ‘origin’ of homosexuality reveals homophobia.”

In a society in which the fact of homosexuality is axiomatic, questioning it could become a crime. Buckle up your seat belts.

TRANSGENDER WOMAN SINGS NATIONAL ANTHEM AT PRO SPORTS EVENT FOR FIRST TIME

Transgender woman Breanna Sinclairé made history Wednesday night by becoming the first transgender person to sing the National Anthem at a professional sporting event.

Sinclairé, a classically-trained opera singer, took to the mound at Oakland’s O.co Coliseum to belt out the Star-Spangled Banner before the A’s faced off against the San Diego Padres in the first game of a two game series.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/justice-dept.-transgender-students-can-use-bathrooms-that-match-their-gender-identity/article/2567357
Justice Dept.: Transgender students can use bathrooms that match their gender identity
6/30/15

The Department of Justice argued in a brief to a federal court on Monday that transgender high school students should be able to use school restrooms that match up with their gender identity, and can't be forced by the school to use the restroom that matches up with their physical characteristics.

It's the first time the federal government has tried to make the case for this transgender right in a courtroom.

Justice's Civil Rights Division filed the brief on behalf of Gavin Grimm, a Virginia high school student who identifies as a boy, even though Grimm was born female.

"He was assigned the female sex at birth, but his gender identity is male and he presents as a boy in all aspects of his life," Justice wrote in its argument to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Grimm was allowed to use the boys' restroom for seven weeks, until Gloucester County Public Schools imposed a policy that barred Grimm from the boys' room. The school made that policy because Grimm is not "biologically male."

But Justice said Title IX of the Education Amendments, a law aimed at ending sexual discrimination, holds that the school's policy change is illegal.

"Under Title IX, discrimination based on a person's gender identity, a person's transgender status, or a person's nonconformity to sex stereotypes constitutes discrimination based on sex," Justice wrote. "As such, prohibiting a student from accessing the restrooms that match his gender identity is prohibited sex discrimination under Title IX."

As part of its brief, Justice included a letter that its Office of Civil Rights wrote in January clarifying how it will be applying Title IX to these sorts of cases.

"The Department's Title IX regulations permit schools to provide sex-segregated restrooms, locker rooms, shower facilities, housing, athletic teams, and single-sex classes under certain circumstances," the January letter said.

"When a school elects to separate or treat students differently on the basis of sex in those situations, a school generally must treat transgender students consistent with their gender identity," it added. "OCR also encourages schools to offer the use of gender-neutral, individual-user facilities to any student who does not want to use shared sex-segregated facilities."

The National Center for Lesbian Rights praised the department's briefing, and said forcing transgender students to use restrooms that are opposite their gender identity "exposes them to relentless harassment and abuse from peers."

"The federal government's position is not only consistent with decades of legal precedent, but also the experiences of many school districts throughout the country that are implementing inclusive policies without incident," said Asaf Orr, the group's attorney. "As those districts have learned, affirming a transgender student's gender identity is an important part of creating a safe and inclusive school where all students can thrive."

Norway Bill Could Allow Sex Changes for 7-year-olds
"The 'gold standard' would be to have no formal age limit."

As June came to a close last month, the government of Norway proposed a bill that would allow 7-year-old children suffering from gender dysphoria to legally change their gender so long as they have parental support. According to Reuters, should this bill pass it will represent "among the lowest ages in the world for transgender rights."

Prior to the proposal, transgender laws in Norway, which reflected most of Europe, stipulated that only adults 18 years or older who've had surgery could get their gender legally changed in a court of law, but the new law would allow minors from aged 7 to 16 to change their legal gender without surgery and without a psychiatric or medical evaluation. As long as parents consent, the children have free rein to change their gender as they please.

During the Oslo Pride festival, Health Minister Bent Høie celebrated the ruling as a victory for transgender rights in Europe.

This is an important area where Norway has lagged far behind many other countries for many years. Now we can be proud that we are implementing this law. The proposal is historic in that it will no longer be the health service but the individual who decides if he or she has changed sex.

Høie also that current transgender laws on the books requiring surgery were entirely unreasonable.

"I am clear that the present system is not acceptable," Høie said. "The system we have in Norway today in this area is very poorly conceived."

Though European transgender activists welcome the change, they still feel Norway and the rest of the continent could being doing more.

According to Richard Köhler of the Transgender Europe lobby group, the "gold standard" would be to have no formal age limit, meaning kids as young as two, three, or perhaps even one could have their gender legally changed.

Amnesty International has been hailing the proposal all the back since April, calling it a "breakthrough for transgender rights." Patricia Kaatee of Amnesty Norway has been at the forefront of getting the bill passed, petitioning to Høie to change the current laws on the grounds that people should be able to legally change their genders based on "one's own experience of gender identity, not a diagnosis or sterilization."

"It is a basic human right for people to express their own identity," Kaatee said, "even in official documents."

APNewsBreak: Pentagon readying plan to lift transgender ban
7/13/15

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Associated Press has learned that Pentagon leaders are finalizing plans aimed at lifting the ban on transgender individuals serving in the military.

Senior U.S. officials say an announcement is expected this week. They say the military would have six months to determine the impact and work out details, with the presumption that they would end one of the last gender- or sexuality-based barriers to military service.

The officials say that during the transition, transgender individuals would still not be able to join the military. Decisions to force out those already serving would have to be referred to a top Defense Department leader.

Several officials familiar with the planning spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the issue before the details have been worked out.

The End of Boys and Girls: These Companies Are Going to Change How Your Kids Dress
Frustrated parents are launching apparel startups to upend gender norms

Ever since Jaya Iyer's daughter was a toddler, she had been fascinated by Saturn and its icy rings. When Swaha turned three, she had a space-themed birthday party. But when her mom went to find clothes with space images for Swaha, she couldn't find any. They were all in the boys section.

So the 41-year-old mother of two, who has a doctorate in fashion merchandising, started her own business called Svaha (which is how her daughter's name is pronounced) to sell clothes that upend gender stereotypes. One shirt features a grinning green stegosaurus, the plates on its back adorned with polka dots. A second comes in a blazing pink hue, with an astronaut planting an American flag on the moon. That one should satisfy her daughter. "She was very upset with me for not ever buying her anything with astronauts on it," Iyer says. "Then she started telling me: 'I want a ninja on my shirt.'"

Svaha is one of several startups that have emerged in recent years with the goal of changing the standards that govern what kids wear. These upstarts aren't looking to replace current kid's apparel entirely. Instead, their founders say they want to provide children with more options. Handsome in Pink says it's all right for boys to wear pink and purple. BuddingSTEM offers science-themed garb for girls. Perhaps the buzziest label is Princess Awesome, which raised more than $200,000 in a successful Kickstarter campaign, showing demand for pirate-themed dresses and girl's apparel covered in the symbol for pi. Most of the ventures remain in early stages as online-only entities using crowdfunded or bootstrapped cash to sell small numbers of shirts or dresses.

Several of the startups share a common origin: They were borne out of parental frustration with major retailers. Simply shopping in the opposite gender's section isn't the answer, these parents say. Cultural norms mean that as kids get older, designating certain items as male or female can confuse and frustrate them. A girl may not want to wear something designated for boys, and vice-versa.

"Most kids and parents are going to the big retailers and seeing all these messages of what its means to be a boy or a girl," says Sharon Choksi, co-founder of clothing line Girls Will Be. Choksi's daughter Maya, now 10, never liked sparkles or "feminine" colors, so the Choksis would shop for Maya in the boys' section. As Maya got older, Choksi worried that "boy" and "girl" labels would unnecessarily upset her daughter.

Choksi, from Austin, started selling girl's shirts in 2013 before expanding into hoodies and shorts. In an effort to encourage girls to move around freely, the fit of Girls Will Be tops fall somewhere between a traditional, fitted girl's shirt and the boxy, looser fit typically marketed to boys. One design reads, “bold, daring, fearless, adventurous, so many things,” while another features a silhouette of a girl doing a flying sidekick. Choksi wants her clothes to fill a gap left open by big companies. "When are the big retailers going to wake up and realize that not all girls are the same and not all boys are the same?" she asks.

In Seattle, Martine Zoer had similar experiences with her sons. She grew tired of her boys, now four and seven, being pushed merchandise featuring designs of dinosaurs and trucks. In 2014, she founded Quirkie Kids, a label devoted to gender-neutral clothes. "There's nothing wrong with pink or girls liking pink," Zoer says. "But if we only offer them that choice, there's something wrong with that."

“There’s nothing hardwired in our brains that says pink is for girls and blue is for boys,” says Lise Eliot, a neuroscientist at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Frank University and author of Pink Brain, Blue Brain: How Small Differences Grow Into Troublesome Gaps—and What We Can Do About It. It’s purely a cultural phenomenon. By the time children are toddlers, Eliot says, boys start rejecting pink because they realize it may diverge from what's expected.

These apparel choices can have enduring repercussions by affecting kids' interests and long-term goals. For instance, since most female clothes are more fitted, they often double as restraints, Eliot says, pushing girls away from physical activities. Kids' play habits matter, because they affect development and ultimately, even what career they end up embracing. If a girl is tugged away from liking outer space by societal pressures, she probably won't veer toward an aerospace profession later in life. If a boy is discouraged from playing with dolls and wearing bold clothes, they may not want to get into fashion design one day. "They see it's the boys with the rocket ships and the girls with the pretty flowers," adds Eliot.

At major retail outlets such as Children's Place and Gymboree, there are few, if any, options for the girl who loves dinosaurs or football. Same goes for the boy who loves unicorns and hearts. Much of the merchandise is as stereotyped as can be: a T-Rex playing football in the boys section; a shirt that reads "I ❤ My B.F.F. More Than Shoes" in the girls section. A representative for Children's Place declined to comment on how it decides what designs and colors to sell boys and girls, and representatives for Gymboree did not respond to a request for comment.

Big retailers are typically focused on quantity, so until enough shoppers demand clothes that don't fall along traditional lines, not much will change, says Patty Leto, senior vice president of childrens' wear at the Doneger Group, a trend intelligence firm. "Pink is always going to sell for girls and blue is always going to sell for boys, no matter what is going on out there with small labels," she says. In the end, it's up to the parents. "The consumer is the ultimate voter here," she says.

Take Lands' End, which in 2014 found itself under attack by angry shoppers when New Jersey mom Lisa Ryder wrote a letter decrying stereotypes in its clothing selection. Flipping through a catalog, Ryder's daughter loved shirts with planets and dinosaurs, though they were clearly marked for boys. When it was suggested to Ryder by a Facebook commenter that she simply purchase a boy's shirt, she responded with vigor. "The problem is that your recent catalog copy and product offerings strongly promote the gender stereotypes that young boys are smart and mighty and young girls are adorable," she wrote. "Simply buying my daughter one of your 'boy shirts' is not the answer because it perpetuates the idea that science is a boy thing that she happens to be participating in." Lands' End decided to release new science-themed shirts for girls.

For the giants of the clothing world, it's an exercise in figuring out what will sell. For the budding brands, it's less a race for revenue than a mission to make a difference. "Everybody's really supportive of each other, rather than being competitive," Zoer, the Quirkie Kids founder, says of the community of new brands. "We're all sort of in this together."

Things are getting very ugly, albeit too quickly now!

First openly transgender official hired at White House

EDGARTOWN, Mass.-- The White House has hired its first openly transgender staff member.

The White House announced Raffi Freedman-Gurspan's appointment on Tuesday. Freedman-Gurspan is an outreach and recruitment director for presidential personnel in the Office of Personnel. Transgender advocates say she is the first openly transgender official to serve in the White House.

Freedman-Gurspan previously was a policy adviser for the National Center for Transgender Equality's racial and economic justice initiative.

Advocates hailed her appointment as an important step for the LGBT community and for ensuring that the federal government includes the voices and experiences of all Americans.

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett says Freedman-Gurspan's commitment to improving the lives of transgender Americans reflects the values of the Obama administration.

University Institutes Gender-Neutral Pronoun Policy

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus is asking professors to use gender-neutral pronouns to make the campus more welcoming to transgender students. A document from the university’s Office of Diversity says professors should call students by the name and pronoun of their choosing.

Donna Braquet, of the Office of Diversity wrote, "With the new semester beginning and an influx of new students on campus, it is important to participate in making our campus welcoming and inclusive for all. One way to do that is to use a student's chosen name and their correct pronouns."

Gender neutral pronouns include, ze, hir, zir, xe, xem and xyr, according to Charisma News.

Braquet continued, "These may sound a little funny at first, but only because they are new. The 'she' and 'he' pronouns would sound strange too if we had been taught 'ze' when growing up."

According to the university’s new protocol, professors should not call roll according to the class roster, but ask each student to provide the name they wish to be called and the pronoun they prefer.

Braquet wrote, "We should not assume someone's gender by their appearance, nor by what is listed on a roster or in student information systems. Transgender people and people who do not identify within the gender binary may use a different name than their legal name and pronouns of their gender identity, rather than the pronouns of the sex they were assigned at birth."

The policy has been met with criticism by many in the area, including Republican State Sen. Mae Beavers.

Beavers said, "It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If you must interview a student before you greet the student, that's not acceptance—that's just absurd."

Ohio School District Allows ‘Transgender’ Female Student to Use Boys’ Restroom

A non-profit legal organization is urging an Ohio school district to reverse its recent decision to allow “transgender” students to use restrooms for the opposite sex.

Late last month, a female student at Troy Junior High School, asked if she could use the school’s male restroom, claiming that she identified as a male.

After meeting with the student’s parents and discussing the matter with the board of education, the school district’s superintendent, Eric Herman, announced that students would be allowed to use the restrooms of their choice, based not on sex but rather “gender identity.”

“Troy City Schools is committed to providing a safe learning environment to all students, including an environment free from sex discrimination,” Herman explained in an automated phone call to all parents in the school district, according to local reports.

“The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education have taken the position that prohibiting a student access to the restroom that matches the student’s gender identity is prohibited sex discrimination under Title IX,” he continued. “Therefore, Troy City Schools allows students to use the restrooms that match their gender identity.”

Following Herman’s announcement, many local residents expressed concern regarding the restroom policy’s effects on the district’s 4,600 students. Last Tuesday, about 150 people gathered inside a local church building to discuss the policy. Most residents at the meeting opposed the school district’s decision.

“Troy has more issues than what bathroom someone uses,” resident Denise Burns said at the meeting, according to “Dayton Daily News.” “One person is justifying a major change for thousands of kids. How is that justified?”

Also on Tuesday, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a non-profit religious rights organization, sent a letter to members of the Troy City School District Board of Education, urging them to reconsider their controversial decision.

“We seek to reaffirm the commonsense proposition that compelling students to share restrooms and locker rooms with members of the opposite sex violates their right to bodily privacy and would not only lead to potential legal liability for the School District and its employees, but would also violate students’ and parents’ fundamental rights,” ADF’s J. Matthew Sharp wrote in the letter.

“No federal law requires public schools to open sex-specific restrooms, showers, and changing areas to opposite-sex students,” Sharp added.

In the letter’s conclusion, Sharp described the harmful consequences of the Troy school district’s revised bathroom policy.

“Allowing students to use opposite-sex restrooms and locker rooms would seriously endanger students’ privacy and safety, undermine parental authority, violate religious students’ free exercise rights, and severely impair an environment conducive to learning,” he warned. “These dangers are so clear-cut that a school district allowing such activity would clearly expose itself to tort liability.”

Bryan Kemper, a Troy resident whose children attend school in the district, implored the district to keep the interests of the students in mind.

“The long-standing tradition of having distinct facilities for boys and girls at school is in the best interest of students,” Kemper said, according to a statement on Wednesday from ADF. “Advocacy organizations trying to pressure schools to do otherwise are disregarding common sense and jeopardizing the physical and emotional well-being of the most vulnerable members of society.”

Other school districts across the U.S. have recently faced similar controversies with “transgender” students. As previously reported, approximately 150 high school students in St. Louis protested school officials’ decision to allow a 17-year-old homosexual male student to use the girls’ locker room and restrooms.

Become a Woman For Free!!

Firs the Obama Administration began pressuring public school systems. If the school systems wanted to keep federal money coming in, they needed to allow boys to use the girls’ bathroom if the boys decided they were girls. Parents did not like it, but in suburban Northern Virginia, the school board told the parents to go to hell and told the boys to get on in the girls’ bathroom if they wanted.

Well, now the Obama Administration is coming after insurance companies. Cover sex reassignment surgeries or get sued is what is going to happen.

While the wording of the newly-proposed regulation doesn’t technically force insurance companies to start paying for gender reassignment surgeries, it does say that HHS would investigate and sue insurers if they refused to pay for them.

In other words, Obamacare is not a vehicle for affordable healthcare, but rather a vehicle for “civil” rights activists to use to pressure private companies and use tax payer dollars.

Never mind that transgenderism is a mental health issue. It is only a matter of time before the Obama Administration decides to cut off any funding and go after any psychiatrist who tries to help someone through the difficult mental issues surrounding transgenderism.

NY Gov. Cuomo to outlaw transgender ‘discrimination’ by executive fiat

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he will create statewide regulations "protecting" transgender people.

"The fair, legal interpretation and definition of a person's sex includes gender [self-] identity," Cuomo said at a fundraiser in Manhattan.

At the Empire State Pride Agenda fundraiser on Thursday, Cuomo said his newly imposed law will be enacted by executive order within a week. The sweeping new transgender rule will force compliance in the workplace, in the housing industry, and in public services and facilities. It will impact public and private retail stores, hospitals, education and recreation facilities, rental establishments, and other businesses.

Cuomo will be the first governor to compel transgender "discrimination" laws by executive fiat. Other states have enacted such laws through voting in their legislatures. But gay activists in New York were frustrated because the state's transgender bill had been stalled for years.

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms (NYCF) accused Cuomo of "overstepping his bounds" as governor. "Gov. Cuomo intends to effectively amend the Human Rights Law without consulting the State Legislature," NYCF explained in a press release. The conservative organization vowed to fight the executive decree, to the point of suing the state if necessary.

"The words of the Constitution of the State of New York mean something," NYCF stated. "The Governor cannot be allowed to usurp the role of the State Legislature, and the needs of women and girls cannot be brushed aside in a craven attempt to curry favor with transgender activists."

New York State Conservative Party (NYSCP) Chairman Michael Long also criticized Cuomo for going around the legislature to unilaterally enact a law he couldn't get passed legitimately. "He's starting to consider himself the Czar of New York," Long commented to the Daily News, "[w]hich he is not."

When contacted by LifeSiteNews, the NYSCP explained that all citizens should be protected from discrimination, but the transgender bill hasn't passed the state legislature because conservatives oppose "setting up special categories of people to give them special privileges and rights."

Gay activists are "thrilled." The host organization called Cuomo's pro-homosexual executive decree idea "historic" and noted, "This sends a message to the country that you can extend protections by any means necessary." Nicholas Schaefer added that when legislative and judicial means don't come out in your favor, executive strong-arming indicates that "there are many ways to get a solution in the fight."

"I hope that other governors and other leaders follow Cuomo's example," Schaefer said.

Cuomo said 2002 anti-discrimination legislation for homosexuals was "flawed" and needed to add transgenders to those specially protected by the state.

New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms also lobbied against the state's proposed transgender "Bathroom Bill," explaining that the bill "would force New York employers to accommodate cross-dressing employees in the workplace, would make New York businesses liable for real or invented transgressions upon a civil right to 'gender identity or expression,' and would give intact biological males who assert female gender identities access to women's locker rooms, changing areas, and restrooms in places of public accommodation, thus compromising the privacy and safety of women and girls."

"The women of New York should ask themselves one question," NYCF advises. "Would you feel safe if men were allowed to enter women's locker rooms, changing areas, and restrooms while you were using them?"

NYCF continues, "The husbands, fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers of New York should ask similar questions: Do you want men to be allowed to enter women's locker rooms, changing areas, and restrooms when your wives, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, and sisters are using them?"

"Should men who identify as women be allowed to see your female relatives when they are undressed? Should such men be allowed to undress in front of your female relatives?"

Cuomo also pushed the legalization of same-sex marriage through New York's divided legislature, setting a precedent that many states, and President Obama, followed.

In July, Obama's defense secretary announced that the Pentagon is moving to allow transgenders to serve openly in the military by early next year.

After Cuomo decrees the new transgender law, there is a 45-day consultation period before it goes into effect.

Despite being fanatically pro-abortion and anti-marriage, Cuomo still claims to be a Roman Catholic Christian. New York Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan admitted that he and the governor "differ" on issues, but the Cardinal said he would not question that Cuomo is "a Catholic in good standing."

U.S.: Illinois transgender student must get full locker room access
11/3/15
http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/03/us/illinois-school-district-transgender-ruling/

CNN)A Chicago-area school district violated anti-discrimination laws by denying a transgender student full access to the girl's locker room, federal authorities said, the latest inquiry to side with students who feel discriminated against by school policies.

The finding against Township High School District 211 concerns only one of numerous complaints of discrimination made by transgender students.

In 2013, a Colorado court was the first to clearly rule that transgender people must be treated equally. The family of a transgender first-grader went to court after their school district stop allowing their daughter to use the girl's bathroom because she was born a boy. The ruling said such bans create a hostile, intimidating or offensive environment.

That same year, California became the first state to allow transgender students to choose which bathrooms and locker rooms to use.

The federal government has followed suit. Last year, the Obama administration announced that transgender people are protected from discrimination under the Civil Rights Act.

But the report announced Monday by the Department of Education might highlight how thin the line is that schools must follow.

Like other districts faced with this dilemma, the district tried to find a negotiated solution by putting up privacy curtains in the girls' locker room. Similar arrangements have kept schools from running afoul of anti-discrimination violations.

At Township High School District 211, however, the line between accommodation and discrimination came down to this: whether the student would be able to choose to use the privacy curtains, or whether the school could force her to do so.

The use of curtains might be OK, but the school can't have a policy that singles out this student for mandatory use of the privacy curtains, the Department of Education report states.

"All students deserve the opportunity to participate equally in school programs and activities -- this is a basic civil right," Assistant U.S. Secretary for Civil Rights Catherine Lhamon said in a statement.

The student, who hasn't been publicly identified, participates on a girls' sports team, but has been required to change and shower separately from her teammates and classmates.

The high cost of being transgender

At public schools, the trend has been one of accommodation for students with different needs -- everything from wheelchair ramps to individual education programs, said Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality.

Accommodating transgender students is not only the right thing to do, but an easy thing to do, she said.

"All that really has to happen here is the adults have to put their prejudices in check," she said. "These are just kids who are trying to go to school."

Adults have unfounded concerns that transgender students somehow disrupt class, Keisling said.

Policies that single out transgender students only further the isolation they might feel and set them up for bullying and even worse violence, she said.

In the Township case, the DOE launched the investigation following a 2013 complaint by the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, which is representing the student.

"The Department of Education's decision makes clear that what my school did was wrong," the student said in statement from the ACLU. "I hope no other student, anywhere, is forced to confront this indignity. It is a good day for all students, but especially those who are transgender all across the nation."

The district defended its stance, saying it has been responsive to the needs of its transgender students.

"We do not agree with (the DOE's) decision and remain strong in our belief that the District's course of action, including private changing stations in our locker rooms, appropriately serves the dignity and privacy of all students in our educational environment," the district said in a statement.

Under the DOE's finding, the district has been given 30 days to reach a solution or face enforcement, which could mean the loss of Title IX funding. The federal law bans sexual discrimination.

"This decision makes me extremely happy -- because of what it means for me, personally, and for countless others," the student said. "The district's policy stigmatized me, often making me feel like I was not a 'normal person.'"

Houston Voters Defeat Controversial 'Transgender Bathroom' Ordinance

A controversial Houston city ordinance that critics said would have allowed men to use women's restrooms if enacted has been defeated at the ballot box.

The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, or HERO, was put to referendum as Proposition 1 in the nation's fourth largest city on Tuesday and lost with 62 percent of voters rejecting it.

HERO expanded antidiscrimination laws regarding businesses and public facilities to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

Family Research Council, a socially conservative organization based in Washington D.C., was active in the debate over the ordinance.

"Houston has become a rallying cry for Americans tired of seeing their freedoms trampled in a politically correct stampede to redefine marriage and sexuality," stated FRC President Tony Perkins.

"Houstonians' religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the right to petition their government have won the day, but much more work remains to be done to safeguard these freedoms across the nation."

Last year, with the strong support of openly gay Mayor Annise Parker, the Houston City Council voted 11 to 6 to approve an Equal Rights Ordinance.

HERO amended Chapters 2, 15 and 17 of Houston's Code of Ordinances, prohibiting discrimination in public facilities and private employment on the basis of "protected characteristics."

This list of protected characteristics included race, color, ethnicity, sex, national origin, age, familial and marital status, military status, religion, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity.

Critics claimed HERO had several unintended consequences, such as fining Christian business owners who may be opposed to having men use women's restrooms.

The road to the vote on Proposition 1 was not a smooth one, as Houston officials attempted to derail the referendum even after opponents got tens of thousands more signatures than necessary to put HERO on the ballot.

In July, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that the city had to either repeal HERO or put the ordinance to a vote in November.

"The City Council is directed to comply with its duties, as specified in the City Charter, that arise when the City Secretary certifies that a referendum petition has a sufficient number of valid signatures. Any enforcement of the [Equal Rights] ordinance will be suspended," ruled the high court.

"If the City Council does not repeal the ordinance by Aug. 24, then by that date the City Council must order that the ordinance be put to popular vote during the November election."

As social conservatives rejoiced at the defeat of HERO, Parker and others denounced Tuesday's results as having "stained Houston's reputation as a tolerant, welcoming global city."

"No one's rights should be subject to a popular vote," stated Parker. "I absolutely fear there will be a direct economic backlash."
