Jordan's parliament voted unanimously to expel the Israeli ambassador and recall its own envoy on Wednesday, a day after Israeli lawmakers debated a proposal to take over a Jerusalem holy site administered by Jordanians.

Knesset Temple Mount debate raises hackles in Arab world
PA calls for emergency meeting as Jordanian opposition demands a freeze to peace treaty with Israel; Egypt warns of ‘explosion’ in region

A Knesset debate Tuesday on Israeli sovereignty over the Temple Mount set off intense criticism in the Arab world, including in countries with which Israel has signed peace treaties.

Egypt’s foreign minister, Nabil Fahmy, warned Tuesday in a statement that an Israeli declaration of sovereignty over the contested site could lead to an “explosion’” in the region.

The PA asked the Arab League Tuesday to hold an emergency session on Wednesday to discuss Israeli policy toward the Temple Mount, Ma’an news agency reported. “If Israel continues this policy,” said PA ambassador to Egypt Barakat al-Farra, “it proves that it does not want peace but continues to violate international laws and resolutions.”

In Jordan, 47 out of 150 members of the country’s lower house signed a motion late Tuesday that the treaty be annulled, the government-owned al-Rai newspaper reported.

“The motion came in response to Israel’s actions in Jerusalem and to the Knesset debate of a law that seeks to impose Israel’s sovereignty over Al-Aqsa,” Al-Rai quoted MPs as saying in the motion.

“Israel’s actions clearly violate the peace treaty… it is aggression against Jordanian custodianship,” the motion said.

Al-Rai said the lower house will discuss “the repercussions of the debate later Wednesday”.

Most of the signatories came from Jordan’s Islamic Action Front, a Muslim Brotherhood faction that serves as the kingdom’s main opposition party. “We ask the government to accede to the demands of those who have called repeatedly for freezing, and eventually cancelling, the peace treaty,” the group said on its website.

Tuesday’s debate was the first to examine the right of non-Muslims to enter and pray at the holy compound in Jerusalem, with over 30 MKs from both right-wing and left-wing parties seeking to voice their opinion on the divisive topic.

The discussion ended late Tuesday with no vote being taken.

Almost all of the parliament’s Arab members chose not to attend the session in protest over the decision to hold it.

The debate, headlined “the loss of Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount” and rescheduled from last week, was initiated by right-wing lawmaker MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud), whose visits to the Temple Mount have drawn media and police attention. Feiglin was arrested for praying there in October 2012 and January 2013, before he became an MK, and visited the Mount earlier this week ahead of the debate.

“The Israeli leadership is shirking its duty,” Feiglin said at the opening of the session, during which he called for Jewish freedom of worship at the site where the first and second Jewish temples once stood. “Without the Mount, we have no home in Tel Aviv, or Haifa or anywhere else.”

Police restrictions bar Jews from praying or engaging in other religious activities while on visits to the Mount for fear that they will provoke a violent reaction from Muslims, a policy Feiglin said was absurd.

“Behind the back of our people we gave up on any vestige of Israeli sovereignty at the Mount. Every terrorist organization can wave their flag there, but the flag of Israel? It must not be mentioned. Reciting a psalm is grounds for arrest. Even wearing a skullcap [at the site] is inadvisable by police standards,” he said.

The Temple Mount is jointly administered by the Jordanian government and the Jerusalem-based Islamic Waqf, an arrangement that has been in place since Israel captured the Old City and East Jerusalem in the 1967 Six Day War and later annexed them. Regarded as a holy site by both Judaism and Islam, proposed changes to the status quo at the Mount are often a source of unrest.

Meretz head Zahava Gal-On slammed the discussion as an attempt to damage peace talks and hurt ties between Israel and the Muslim world.

Before the debate Tuesday, Israeli police clashed with rioters on the mount, who pelted them with stones and firecrackers.

Azzam Khatib, director general of the Waqf, Jordan’s Islamic authority that currently manages religious affairs at site, said the clash followed rumors that Jewish extremists were planning on entering the compound and raising the Israeli flag. He said the entire compound was Muslim and they would not allow anyone to change that situation.

“I hope they have some rational people in the government to stop them from provoking us,” he said.

Palestinian diplomat Abdelhady-Nasser accused Feiglin of “reckless actions” and called on the United Nations Security Council to give urgent attention to the “Israeli acts of incitement, provocation and aggression (which) are intended to deliberately provoke Palestinian, Arab and Muslim sensitivities and could have extremely dangerous and widespread consequences.” She sent similar letters to the General Assembly and to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Last week, the planned session drew condemnation from Jordan’s parliament, whose Palestine Committee said a move to expand Israeli control over the sensitive site would be a violation of “Jordanian national sovereignty and is tantamount to a breach of the peace treaty signed between Jordan and Israel.”

Hamas and Palestinian Authority officials, together with leaders of the Islamic Movement in the Galilee, have long accused Israel of planning to take control of the Muslim sites on the Mount.

Debate Over Temple Mount Heats Up While Rebuilding Preparations Continue

While the Israeli Knesset debated the future sovereignty of Jerusalem’s temple mount, protesters were rioting on the Holy Site. Rioters were arrested during the latest series of uprisings this month.  Arab demonstrators object to any Jewish presence on the holy site.

An impassioned MK Fieglin declared, “Without the temple Mount, we have no home, not in Tel Aviv, not in Haifa, and not anywhere else. The time has come to stop the erosion of our sovereignty in the heart of Jerusalem.”

Fieglin continued by describing the destruction of archeological artifacts on the Mount, stating that behind the nations back, we gave up every remnant of Israeli sovereignty on the mount. Any terrorist organization can wave their fag, but the Israeli flag? Unmentionable.”

“When the Jews in exile prayed to return to Zion, I think they prayed to return… to the Temple Mount. If we allow the situation to continue, we will fail in our mission to Jewish continuity.” Added coalition chairman Yariv Levin.

Left leaning MK’s see the Temple Mount controversy as a “powder keg waiting to explode” said Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On. Gal-on also stated that “No one doubts that the Jews have a right to ascend the temple Mount” but questioned the wisdom of exercising this right.

PM Benyamin Netanyahu was quoted as saying in 1995, “Jews should be able to pray on the temple Mount.” He was absent from the current debate.

MK Moalem-Refeali spoke of the hypocrisy of some on the left who’ believe in freedom of worship, but only for Arabs.

As expected, the Knesset debate sparked angry reactions in Jordan and elsewhere in the region.

Some Jordanian legislators called for a cancellation of Jordan’s peace treaty with Israel and a return of the Jordanian envoy to Amman.

The Temple Mount, captured by the IDF during the Six Day War, was placed under custodianship of the Wakf Muslim religious trust in 1967, following the war.

As for a possible shared Temple Mount solution, in  a Haaretz report as late as February 16, 2014 Palestinian President Abbas stated that the” PA would not agree to share sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque (the temple mount) in Jerusalem as  part of a peace deal but would allow freedom of worship for the Jews at the Western Wall Plaza.”

2500 years ago, the Hebrew prophet Daniel, under divine inspiration, while living in exile in Babylon, saw the future of the Temple Mount and recorded its destiny for us. Daniel foresaw a rebuilt temple in the time of the man of lawlessness, prior to the return of Jesus to Jerusalem. (Daniel 9)

Daniel further explains s the importance of the Temple in the 70 weeks prophecy in Chapter 9 vs. 27. According to Daniel, in the middle of the 70th week, sacrifices will be cut off and an event described as the abomination of desolation will occur in the Temple.

Jesus Christ also referred to Daniels prophecy in His Olivet discourse, when he identified the “abomination of desolation” as a significant event of the Tribulation period.

The Apostle Paul additionally, speaks about the rebuilt temple and the man of sin who would exalt himself as God in the third temple. (2 Thessalonians 2: 3, 4)

In fulfillment of prophecy, plans for rebuilding continue.

On November 28, 2013, the Israel National News reported that "a Cohen – priest training program" is currently training priest to officiate in the coming Temple with at least 40 men with the correct lineage  being trained in this program. According to Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, the Director of the Temple Institute, ”Traditional priestly garments have been made in various sizes to accommodate the trained priests.”

Rabbi Ariel concluded by saying "All of this is in the hope that we will soon, please GOD, erect the third temple with our own hands, and be able to perform these priestly duties in the Temple courtyard".

According to the Christian Post, “rabbis have been visiting the temple mount in unprecedented numbers”. It is also reported that the temple items required for sacrifice and worship, and the hand hewn cornerstone have been prepared and are in fact, ready to be used.

Of interest also, is the shift in the Israeli government toward a more right leaning, religious, and conservative base.  This also, bodes well for the rebuilding. A recent survey revealed that 64 % of the population favors rebuilding the temple.

Many wonder if the current peace negotiations will open the door for further progress towards the the rebuilding of the Temple.

PA Complains to UN Over Temple Mount
PA’s observer in the UN calls on the UN Security Council to prevent Israel’s “illegal activities” at the Temple Mount.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) complained to the United Nations on Wednesday over Israel’s actions at the Temple Mount.

Kol Yisrael radio reported that the PA’s observer in the UN, Riyad Mansour, said he expects the UN Security Council to prevent Israel’s “illegal activities” at the Temple Mount.

A statement posted on the website of the PA’s mission to the United Nations said that the PA was “particularly concerned by the increasing incursions by Israeli extremists and political leaders, including government officials, on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.”

“These incidents provoke Palestinian and other Muslim worshippers and often lead to clashes, in which Palestinian civilians are injured, tear-gassed and detained,” the statement said.

The PA statement also denounced the recent debate in the Knesset on Jewish access and Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount, where Jews are often forbidden from praying, harassed and arrested.

“Such actions with regard to this highly sensitive area provoke the Palestinians and may also be perceived as serious acts of incitement in the wider region,” it charged. “Moreover, these actions undermine the current negotiations process, threatening the prospects for peace.”

“These recent actions are indicative of a strategy aimed at altering the legal, demographic, physical and cultural character of East Jerusalem. Such actions are clearly prohibited under international law. House demolitions, evictions, land expropriation and the revocation of residency rights of Palestinian Jerusalemites are also on the increase,” claimed the PA statement.

“Palestinian land in East Jerusalem has been expropriated since 1967. In the same period, the residency status of more than 14,000 Palestinians has been revoked by Israel,” it continued.

“Israel also continues to construct settlements in East Jerusalem in violation of international law and in defiance of the international community’s repeated calls for ending such illegal acts,” the PA said, adding, “Since the resumption of peace talks last July, Israel announced construction plans for more than 5,000 new settlement units in Palestinian neighborhoods in the city.”

“The question of East Jerusalem is a crucial permanent status issue. A sovereign, contiguous and viable State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital and with arrangements for the holy sites acceptable to all is a core requirement for the achievement of a just and lasting peace.”

The restrictions on Jewish prayer at the compound are due to Muslim pressure. Israeli police, in an attempt to appease the Muslim Waqf which was left in charge of the compound after the 1967 Six Day War, ban Jews from praying or performing any other form of worship.

Police sometimes close the Mount to Jews altogether in response to Muslim riots - for days or weeks at a time - despite evidence that such violence is usually planned in advance for the specific purpose of forcing Jews out.

Meanwhile, Mansour told Kol Yisrael radio that his appeal to the UN had not broken the PA’s promise that it would not turn to international institutions during the current round of peace talks with Israel.

In fact, he claimed, it was the Israelis who are trying to sabotage the efforts of U.S. Secretary of John Kerry through their “acts of provocation on the Temple Mount.”

In response to the Knesset debate about the Temple Mount, the Arab League discussed the possibility of filing a complaint to the UN Security Council over alleged “Israeli attacks on the Al-Aqsa compound.”

Jordan also denounced the move, and its Prime Minister Abdullah Nsur warned that his country might review a 1994 peace treaty with Israel over the Knesset discussion.

Rabbis Issue United Call to Establish Synagogue on Temple Mount
Large group of Religious Zionist rabbis from across spectrum ask Prime Minister to establish a synagogue on the Temple Mount.

A wide ranging group of rabbis from the National Religious camp have written a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu advocating the construction of a synagogue on the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site.

Among the rabbis are those considered religiously “conservative” and who have avoided making public calls for prayers on the Temple Mount until now – including Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu – as well as those considered more “liberal,” including Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Rabbi She'ar Yashuv-Cohen, Rabbi Menachem Borstein, and Rabbi Daniel Shilo. Many of the latter have also avoided calling for prayers on the Mount as well.

Also signing the letter were prominent Religious Zionist figures Rabbi Dov Lior, Rabbi Eliyahu Zinni, and Rabbi Haim Cohen.

The letter was also signed by many professors, educators, and professionals; it was authored and delivered by the Amutat Yishai organization, which advocates building a synagogue on an area of the Temple Mount that many rabbis agree Jews are allowed to ascend to.

While much of the Temple Mount is off-limits to Jews today because of issues surrounding ritual impurity, many rabbis agree with the assessment of historians that some areas of the Mount were not included in the boundaries of the Holy Temple area, and as such, Jews should be allowed to visit them, even in a state of ritual impurity - though only after ritual immersion and other measures.

Jews who visit the Mount today venture only into those areas, and the letter advocates building a structure in that area where Jews can pray.

The Chief Rabbinate, as well as most hareidi rabbis, are opposed to ascending the Mount altogether, out of fear that those who ascend will mistakenly enter the forbidden areas.

“The Temple Mount is a unique place for prayer,” the letter said. “As Prime Minister, we ask you to do what is necessary to establish a place of prayer for Jews on the Temple Mount, in a respectable and peaceful manner, that will honor the holy place we all long for.”

The fiercest opposition to the proposal in the past has come from Muslim authorities and Islamist groups, most notably the Islamic Waqf authority which administers the site. Muslim extremists regularly issue threats against Jewish visits to the Mount, and Jews are forbidden from praying at their holiest site by authorities in order to avoid offending Muslim sensibilities in the Al Aqsa Mosque complex.

Late last year a bill was tabled pushing for equal prayer rights for Jews on the Temple Mount - sparking fury from Muslim MKs.

Jews Petition Police to Offer Passover Sacrifice on Temple Mount

Two Jews have petitioned Jerusalem police in the name of dozens of others for permission to carry out the mitzvah of the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount this year, for the first time in nearly 2,000 years.

The petitioners claim that police authorization is the only obstacle to ascending the Temple Mount, praying and offering their sacrifice of a lamb, as commanded in the Torah.

They said 100 Jews will be present and will bring with them a portable sacrificial altar and other equipment as described in the Torah.

Rabbi Menachem Boorstein, who is involved with studies of the Holy Temples, said that the mitzvah of the Passover sacrificial offering can be carried out without violating Jewish law. The Chief Rabbinate forbids Jews from ascending the Temple Mount, while a growing number of national religious rabbis permit it under certain conditions and in certain places.

Even the idea of public asking for permission to offer the sacrifice, let along the act itself. could be enough to set off Arabs to wage an all-out war.

Every time a Jews dares to mumble a prayer on the Temple Mount, Muslim officials and police immediately drag them away.

Hundreds of yeshiva students ascended the Temple Mount on Tuesday, the first day of the Hebrew month of Nissan and two weeks before Passover, to hear a lecture on the holy site and on Passover.

Muslims reportedly clashed with the crowd and beat up one of the Jews, but there has been no official confirmation of the claim that there was no provocation besides the actual presence of Jews, which by itself is enough to send the Arabs into a frenzy.

Below is a video of the peaceful moments the crowed of Jews enjoyed on the Temple Mount.

Passover, the Temple Mount, and Jewish Sovereignty

Now that the current U.S.-brokered Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations are in trouble, Israelis can expect violent disturbances on the Temple Mount, initiated by angry Palestinians who are not willing to wait for peace with Israel. Palestinian leaders are already re-engaging in a diplomatic war against Israel due to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ decision to apply for the inclusion of “Palestine” in 15 international organizations and treaties. But, those tactics are nothing compared to what may soon happen in Jerusalem.

Jews are preparing for Passover, which begins on the eve of April 14. Last year, Member of the Knesset (MK) Moshe Feiglin was refused access to the Temple Mount on Passover. In previous years, religious Jews wishing to ascend the Mount were also refused access during this holiday. To the dismay of many who want to visit the Mount, Jews are subject to discrimination and humiliation by the Israeli police.

If the Palestinians decide to take out their aggressions this Passover, the Israeli police are guaranteed to remove Jews from the area. When compared with Muslim incitement on the Mount, the Jews are the path of least resistance. The Israeli government wants to keep the status quo, which means quiet at all costs.

Jeff Daube, Israeli Office Director of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) believes that “unfettered access and freedom to pray at a holy site is a basic, universally recognized right, which certainly should be accorded to Jews in the Jewish State of Israel.” Daube sees this as guaranteed under Israeli law. “We have to assert our rights wherever they are threatened. The Temple Mount is the last place on Earth where Jews should tolerate this type of discrimination.”

In February 2014, for the first time in Israel’s history, more than 30 MK’s met to discuss the loss of Israeli sovereignty on the Mount. It stirred up the Arab world. Soon after, there were violent disturbances which Daube believes were provoked and directed by the Palestinian Authority. He says this behavior is “animated and exacerbated by more than four decades of Israel’s refusal to assert its own sovereignty and rights there.”

Israeli citizens have been educated to yearn for engagement with God in prayer at the Western Wall rather than on the Temple Mount. During the week of Passover, thousands of Jews participate in the Birkat Kohanim ceremony at the Wall. The traditional Aaronic Benediction is said and the House of Israel is blessed. Israelis seem satisfied conducting the ceremony at the Wall and not on the Mount.

According to Daube, “There’s a question about exactly where the Jewish Temple’s Holy of Holies had been situated. That is hallowed ground which only the High Priest on Yom Kippur could walk on. Any Jew walking there is in violation, even if unknowingly, and many believe that carries a heavenly death penalty. While the ultra-Orthodox have taken the position that Jews may enter the Temple Mount area only once the Messiah comes, more and more religious nationalist rabbis have suggested Jews are permitted to walk everywhere on the Mount except where the Dome of the Rock stands – which they think is the Holy of Holies site. These rabbis encourage Jews to visit the Temple Mount often.”

Yet, they are not allowed to pray there. They are not even allowed to move their lips in prayer without being ousted by Muslim authorities.

This Passover, Jews, along with Christians, can expect the Israeli police to keep them off the Mount rather than deal with another round of Muslim disturbances.

Several MK’s recently visited the Mount, to the dismay of Palestinians and Jordanians who claimed it was an Israeli effort to take over. But, Daube explains this is a Muslim excuse for violence, as in the case of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Mount in 2000.

“The rocks, already on the Temple Mount, had been made ready for us. Faisal Husseini, among others, had already planned the ‘outbreak’. The same thing is happening now. As there is growing talk in pro-religious rights circles of finding a modus vivendi for joint prayer, and as the negotiations wind down, the PA is looking for another pretext to blame the Israelis.”

In 1967, Jewish soldiers liberated the Temple Mount from the Jordanians, and Jerusalem was united again. Under Israeli control, the soldiers said the Hallel (Prayer of Praise) because the Mount and East Jerusalem were, miraculously, given into their hands. Under international pressure, and fearing it would ignite a major Middle East war, Israeli leader Moshe Dayan gave the keys of control back to the WAQF.  To date, the WAQF, also known as the Jordanian Religious Trust, does not allow anyone but Muslims to pray on the Mount.

Legally, access to holy places is a right guaranteed by Israeli law, but the law isn’t being implemented. The ZOA explains that after the Six Day War, the Israeli Knesset passed an amendment to the Law and Administration Ordinance, extending Israeli sovereignty to Jerusalem’s eastern sector, including the Old City and the Temple Mount. Furthermore, the Knesset passed the Safeguarding of the Holy Places Law meant to protect freedom of access to the Mount by members of religious denominations.

Today, the WAQF identifies visitors and singles out Jews for biased treatment. Muslims are treated with respect and with no discrimination. The ZOA says the Israeli government is more willing to meet the extremist demands of the WAQF, than consider the legal rights of all its citizens.

The Temple Mount has always been the holiest site in Jewish history. In contrast, for Muslims it is Islam’s third holiest site, not its first. Israeli MK’s are frustrated with the status quo. They want the government to stop abdicating its authority. They refuse to accept that Jews are banned from the most intimate place of prayer before God.

Since the 1980s, Muslims on the Mount have persisted in getting rid of Jewish artifacts in an effort to delegitimize Jewish ties to the holy site and East Jerusalem. Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reported in March 2014, inflammatory remarks by the PA Minister of Religious Affairs. He claimed Israel was planning to remove the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Temple Mount. The PMW also reported that Palestinian religious leaders want more limitations to Jewish prayers, claiming only Palestinians have the right to access the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings, and Jews should no longer pray at the Western Wall.  In 2012, Abbas suggested Israel’s actions in Jerusalem were to take over Muslim and Christian holy sites. This Palestinian libel has been actively promoted since the 1990s.

Daube insists, “The PA never has prepared the Palestinian street or the Arab world to respect the facts of Jewish history, or the sanctity of Jewish holy places, because that would mean having to recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish People. What is new is that Israel now has been forced to confront its revisionist adversary on the world stage, where the Palestinians have been offered a bully pulpit to promote their historically absurd narrative.”

What could change the current scenario is an order from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanding the police crackdown on Muslim violence, while at the same time, allowing Jews up on the Mount during holy days. Netanyahu could take further action permitting Jews and Christians to pray on the Mount without fear of Muslim reprisals.

Holding to the status quo, the Israeli government is undermining one of the greatest outcomes of the Six Day War -- the Old City and the Temple Mount once again under Jewish sovereignty. That sovereignty, along with Israel’s sovereignty over other parts of the homeland, is under scrutiny. If Israeli leaders would exercise Israel’s rights to its biblical sites, perhaps, there would be greater respect in the global community for Israel’s historical claim of being the nation state of the Jewish People.

Quote
Israelis can expect violent disturbances on the Temple Mount,
that was fast

Dozens wounded in Temple Mount riot
Masked assailants throw stones and firecrackers, barricade themselves in Jerusalem compound; site closed to public

Dozens of Palestinian protesters and an Israeli policeman were wounded Wednesday morning on the Temple Mount after the site was opened to Jewish visitors.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told AFP that Palestinians threw “stones and firecrackers” at police when they opened the walled compound’s gates.

Police responded with stun grenades, Rosenfeld said, and closed the complex to the Jewish visitors after a small number had toured the site.

An AFP correspondent at the scene said dozens of Palestinians were wounded by rubber-coated bullets and stun grenade canisters, and were staying inside the Al-Aqsa mosque out of fear they would be arrested when leaving.

Riots on the Temple Mount are not uncommon, and often accompany political tension or visits by Israeli right-wing activists.

On Sunday, riot police were called in to quell a violent protest at the Temple Mount’s Mughrabi Gate as the site opened to visitors in the morning.

One policeman was lightly injured and law enforcement officers entered the al-Aqsa mosque compound and used stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the rioters.

Five Jewish Israelis were arrested Monday after allegedly attempting to sacrifice a goat at the Temple Mount in honor of the Passover holiday.

Israel Closes Temple Mount after Riots

Police closed the Temple Mount to visitors Wednesday morning following more Arab riots that injured two officers. There's a heightened security presence in the Old City due to the Passover holiday and the upcoming Priestly Blessing, when thousands of Israelis from around the country will visit Jerusalem and the Western Wall. Police used riot control gear against Muslim youth throwing rocks and fire bombs at police. Arabs also wounded another officer in a rock-throwing incident in one of the Old City's narrow streets.

Temple Mount clash over Passover sacrifice

An attempt to slaughter an animal for a Passover sacrifice atop the Temple Mount in Jerusalem has led to the arrest of eight Jews and a new wave of criticism against the Israeli government.

According to local media, eight Jews were taken into custody Monday as they ascended the mount, considered the holiest site in Judaism where two of God’s temples once stood. They were carrying a goat and were reportedly seeking to slay the animal in accordance with biblical instructions.

Historically, Passover first debuted in Old Testament times when God commanded Moses and the Israelites to offer the sacrifice as they embarked on the Exodus out of Egyptian slavery. God said he would “pass over” the Israelites who obeyed his instructions, while He would slay the firstborn children and animals in Egypt.

The animal sacrifice was continued in the New Testament, as Jesus Himself ate a Passover meal along with his apostles at the famous “Last Supper,” among other instances.

“The sacrifice is supposed to take place on the Temple Mount, which is the site of the two former Holy Temples of Jerusalem but which today is occupied by the Islamic Al Aqsa Mosque complex,” Israel National News reported. “By order of the Islamic Waqf authorities who administer the site, Jews are forbidden from praying or carrying out any other religious rituals on their holiest site, in what activists have repeatedly condemned as a capitulation by police to Muslim extremists.”

Ynet News reported the suspects were taken in to a nearby police station for further questioning, and the goat was handed over to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Among those detained was Noam Federman, who blasted the arrests as an “embarrassment” to the State of Israel.

“It is a mark of shame that the government of Israel is directing a regime of racism against Jews on the Temple Mount. They (Jews) are forbidden to pray and even prevented from carrying out the mitzvot (Torah commandments) of the [Passover] festival,” Federman told Israel National News.

Is the Temple Mount really the precise location of God’s temple? This DVD may have you thinking twice.

The paper noted the Temple Organizations Headquarters, which represents several Jewish-rights groups, condemned the arrests as “a severe blow to freedom of religion, the Basic Law of Freedom of Worship, the holy places and the rule of law in Jerusalem.”

“The time has come to allow Jews to act as a free people in the State of Israel, without worrying about or surrendering to Islamist threats,” the group continued, referring to threats of violence by Islamist groups if Jews are granted equal prayer rights on the Temple Mount.

In fact, there have been at least two violent outbursts at the Temple Mount just this week.

Wednesday morning, Israeli police stormed the area to calm a riot by dozens of Palestinian youth. Haaretz reports officers used gas and stun grenades to disperse the riot and stop the protesters from barricading themselves inside of the mosques.

One officer was reportedly injured during stone-throwing by the protesters, and some 25 people were hurt during the riot, with one in serious condition and 15 with moderate injuries.

Israel Today reported on a previous clash Sunday, noting two Israeli police officers were wounded when Muslim rioters attacked them and possibly other Jewish visitors. One observer explained the use of dozens of Molotov cocktails indicated the riot was premeditated, and not some spontaneous response to any Israeli provocation.

Last week, two U.S. congressmen visited the Temple Mount in stealth fashion with a group of religious Jews to assess the situation.

U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio, told Israel National News the visit left him “shocked and disturbed.”

Johnson also focused on the Waqf (Islamic Trust) official who tailed his group, seeming to exercise unwarranted influence over the Israeli police.

“This thug followed us everywhere we went and if we stopped and took too long in one place he would look at the Israeli police, who would say ‘you need to keep your group moving,’” the congressman said.

Jews Arrested Trying to Perform Passover Sacrifice on Temple Mount

A group of eight Israeli Jews were arrested on Monday while attempting to ascend the Temple Mount and sacrifice a goat there in fulfillment of the biblical instructions regarding the Passover holiday.

Several organizations associated with the group told Israel National News that the arrests were yet another indication of the total lack of religious freedom for Jews atop the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest site.

That same Temple Mount again exploded in violence on Wednesday morning when Muslim mobs assaulted police and Jewish visitors.

The violence began as police opened the Mughrabi Gate, the sole entrance where non-Muslim visitors can enter the Temple Mount. Muslim rioters waiting on the other side of the gate hurled stones and firecrackers, prompting Israeli police to respond with rubber bullets and tear gas.

One police officer and dozens of rioters were injured in the melee, and the Temple Mount was quickly closed again to all non-Muslims.

It was the second such outburst of violence this week.

On Sunday, two Israeli police officers were wounded when Muslim rioters attacked them and possibly other Jewish visitors at the Mughrabi Gate. One observer noted that the use of dozens of firebombs (Molotov cocktails) indicated that the riot had been premeditated, and was not a spontaneous response to some Israeli provocation.

Last week, two American congressmen clandestinely visited the Temple Mount with a group of religious Jews to assess the situation. US Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) told Israel National News that the Temple Mount visit left he and his colleague “shocked and disturbed.”

Johnson made special note of the Waqf (Islamic Trust) official that tailed the group and seemed to exercise unwarranted influence over the Israeli police present there. “This thug followed us everywhere we went and if we stopped and took too long in one place he would look at the Israeli police, who would say ‘you need to keep your group moving,’” noted the American lawmaker.

Rioting After Police Limit Muslim Access to Temple Mount

Palestinian Arab youth riot, throw stones at police after age limit announced; two police officers lightly hurt.

Tens of Palestinian Arab youths rioted at the Temple Mount Sunday morning, after police limited Muslim access to the Mount after another series of clashes on Saturday night.

Police have dispersed the riot and arrested 24 rioters; two officers suffered light injuries.

The Temple Mount has now been closed to all visitors, including Jews.

Breaking the Calm

Earlier Sunday, Jerusalem police have limited Muslim access to the Temple Mount again, after Arab youths attempted to riot yet again at Judaism's holiest site.

Five Arab youths were arrested late Saturday night, after they tried to scale the eastern wall of the Temple Mount compound and were found with tear gas in their possession. The teens were taken in for questioning.

Police Commander Yossi Pariente made the decision to limit access to the Mount early Sunday, announcing that only Muslims with a blue teudat zehut, or Israeli ID card, would be allowed to enter the Mount for the remainder of the day, and only men over 50 and women of any age.

Extra police forces have also been deployed throughout the Old City of Jerusalem since early Sunday morning, police announced, in a move to keep the highly congested area calm on the eve of the final day of the Passover holiday and on the Christian holiday of Easter.

A New Trend?

This the the second time in one week that access to the Temple Mount has been limited for Muslim visitors, after a series of clashes between Hamas terrorists and Palestinian Arab youths with Israeli police forces broke out at Judaism's holiest site last week.

The Temple Mount was closed to visitors by police on Thursday following rioting by Muslims in the area for "Prisoners Day," in which thousands of Arab residents of Judea, Samaria and Gaza demanded the release of Israeli-held terrorists. Those protests turned violent in Hevron, where police and soldiers were attacked with rocks.

Six Arab youths in Jerusalem were arrested on Thursday, over suspicion of being involved in rioting on Wednesday at the Temple Mount, when firecrackers and rocks were hurled at police.

Following the rioting on Wednesday, Dov Kalmanovitz, the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, demanded that police close the Temple Mount to Arab visitors for the rest of the day.

However, police instead closed the holiest site in Judaism to Jews for Wednesday and Thursday, sparking outrage among government ministers. MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud) argued that the Israeli government had "abandoned the Temple Mount to the Hamas regime."

Calls to Fire Internal Security Minister Over Temple Mount Riots
MK Moshe Feiglin calls for heads to roll after Hamas terrorists seize control of Temple Mount.

Likud MK and Knesset Deputy Speaker Moshe Feiglin has called on Prime Minister Netanyahu to investigate the recent riots by Muslim extremists on the Temple Mount, and to take action to put an end to intimidation and violence against Jews on Judaism's holiest site - action which he says should include firing Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Feiglin branded the string of riots over the Pesach (Passover) holiday as a "Hamas takeover on the Temple Mount."

He described how "Hamas flags were flown on the Mount", as Islamists succeeded repeatedly in blocking Jews and tourist groups from visiting the holy site, and said the "sheer helplessness of the Israeli Police" marked a security failure so severe that it was impossible to overlook.

"We are talking about a loss of sovereignty in the heart of hearts of the capital of Israel, in the holiest place for the Jewish people, and the handing over [of sovereignty] to a terrorist movement which inscribes [calls for] the destruction of the State of Israel on its flag."

MK Feiglin went further, claiming that the Muslim riots were pre-planned and that the police were fully aware of them in advance - but were prevented from acting by directives forbidding them from operating within the Al Aqsa Mosque complex itself, for fear of offending Muslim sensibilities. Indeed, Islamist youths barricaded themselves inside the Al Aqsa Mosque for several hours on more than one occasion, hurling rocks and launching fireworks at riot police with impunity.

Those directives, he said, came from the Internal Security Ministry, and therefore the blame for the total collapse of security on the Temple Mount rests squarely on the shoulders of ministry head Yitzhak Aharonovich.

Those claims follow similar allegations by Temple Mount activists, who accused police of "collaborating" with Islamist rioters.

Aharonovich "did not issue the correct guidelines and did not act to combat the (openly) stated aims of terrorist groups, who are now celebrating their victory," Feiglin said.

Following such a grave failure, he continued, there was simply no way Aharonovich could be allowed to retain his post.

He called on the Prime Minister to "conduct a comprehensive and thorough investigation of the matter, and to draw the necessary conclusions - even if we are talking about personal conclusions about the leadership of the police, or indeed the Internal Security Ministry."

Despite being Judaism's holiest site, Jewish visits to the Temple Mount are severely restricted, including a blanket ban on prayers or any other forms of worship.

Jewish Temple Mount groups have slammed the measures as draconian, and a capitulation to the demands of the Waqf Islamic trust which administers the site, as well as threats by Islamist groups including Hamas.

Muslim extremists often attack or intimidate Jewish visitors in an attempt to drive them from the site, while those Jews suspected of breaking rules banning all forms of worship on the Mount are regularly arrested.

A Knesset bill is currently being considered which would instate equal prayer rights for Jews and Muslims on the Mount - a proposal which is fiercely opposed by Muslim MKs and Islamist groups.

Israel Is 'Destroying' Al-Aqsa Mosque for 'Alleged' Temple
PA officials, TV, and highest religious authority spread libel that Israel dividing Temple Mount to build 'alleged' Temple.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has been stepping up its libel that Israel is "destroying" the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, in order to build the "alleged" Temple.

The highest PA religious authority, Mufti Muhammad Hussein, asserted in late March that Israel was making an "attempt... at lay[ing] hands on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque... [and] in addition to the threat of destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque to establish the alleged Temple on its ruins."

Palestinian Media Watch translated the comments, which were made by the same mufti who in 2012 publicly called for the genocide of the Jewish people.

The comments were made ahead of the recent series of Arab riots on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem raging since last week, in which Israeli police have been attacked by rocks and firebombs, and limits have been placed on Muslim visitors as well as Jewish visitors.

Destroying to "erect what they call 'the Temple'"

Similarly Khaled Mismar, Chairman of the Political Committee of the Palestinian National Council, the legislative body of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) reiterated the libels on March 30 on official PA TV.

"Now they want to divide up the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., the Temple Mount Plaza). Furthermore, they want to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and erect what they call 'the Temple' over Al-Aqsa," remarked Mismar.

On the same day, official PA TV broadcast a cartoon from the Jordanian newspaper Al-Dustur on its show Circle of Events.

The cartoon depicts Israel as a monstrous soldier eating the Dome of the Rock Mosque, while a Hamas activist holds a flag with the word "Land," and a Fatah activists holds a flag with the word "Day."

"Land Day" is an event in which extremist Arabs protest the Jewish victories in the wars started by Arab nations since 1948, and the expropriation of land previously held by Arab residents in the aftermaths of these wars.

Israeli Institute Prepares Priests for Jerusalem's Third Temple
The movement to rebuild Jerusalem's third temple expands.

On April 10, at 5 p.m., hundreds of Jews will gather at the Maimonides rabbinical institution plaza in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood in Jerusalem and start learning the Jewish laws of Passover. Rabbis and experts, including Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, the head of the Temple Institute in the Old City of Jerusalem, the leading body preparing for the establishment of the third temple, will teach the audience the laws of the Passover sacrifice. Alongside Ariel, the ritual slaughterer (shohet) Rabbi Yehudah Giatt will teach the audience about the unique elements of the slaughter of the Passover sacrifice. After the lessons, the real thing will start: the simulation of the Passover sacrifice.

The timing of the gathering isn’t coincidental: This was the date on which the people of Israel were commanded to take a lamb and sacrifice it, before the exodus from Egypt. The ceremony on Thursday will be, in Israel Defense Forces (IDF) lingo, “practice with live fire.” Slaughtering lambs, sprinkling their blood on the altar by priests dressed in kosher priestly garments and roasting the lambs, with their heads, legs and innards. Just as God intended.

This isn’t the first time that the "Association of Temple Organizations" will hold this activity, but this year the practice drill and re-enactment of the Passover sacrifice will be carried out by the students of the school for priests, Nezer Ha-kodesh, which started operating this year. The priest school intends to train the hundreds of priests that would be needed to work at the third temple; many Jews endeavor for its establishment in Israel today.

Ten students, who got to the priests school by word of mouth, paid 1,000 shekels (some $290), a relatively small sum, for twice-weekly lessons, three hours each, that teach “how to be priests.” The director of the school, Rabbi Yehoshua Friedman, hopes that the school will be more properly publicized next year and that more students will arrive. “The rabbis say that the minimum necessary is 13 priests in the temple to carry out the mandatory sacrifices. If you’re talking about a fully operating temple, where people bring their own sacrifices, it’s a place where hundreds of priests work daily,” he says. “In the days of old, a father and grandfather would teach the grandson and son how to be a priest, the commandments and laws. Today, they have to take a course. The prayer to establish the temple has no meaning if we don’t actually prepare for it. Think what would happen if tomorrow you got a functioning temple and don’t have priests.”

There are a great many laws for the temple, some of which have been forgotten and faded over the years: how to use incense, how to light the holy menorah, how to sanctify hands and feet, and of course, how to sacrifice. “The priests themselves come with requests to learn one topic or another. We are also learning as we go how the course should look. The students are very practical and focused,” explains Friedman.

At the Temple Institute, researchers are working hard to relearn the laws as well as study the architecture, location and necessary tools. “One of the unique elements of the course,” says Friedman, “is the actual practice. In my course, they learned how to sacrifice birds, so we brought stuffed doves, so that the priests would learn how to hold them, how to execute the specific moves. We work on standing in front of the altar to demonstrate the action, so that it’ll become natural to them.”

For the temple people, the priests’ course is an advanced stage that follows the completion of quite a few steps. First of all is the level of consciousness. For many years, say those working to establish the third temple, religious Zionism and the State of Israel worked to focus Jewish longing on the Western Wall.

“The Western Wall isn’t a holy place,” declares Arnon Segal, a journalist who devotedly follows the preparations for the establishment of the temple. “It was meant to remove the Temple Mount from the Jewish mind. Opium for the masses.” Segal and his friends have been working in recent years to change the outlook of decision-makers: rabbis, members of the Knesset and other influential Israelis. They have had success: The Jewish presence on the Temple Mount is gaining ground in Jewish-Israeli discourse, members of the Knesset and rabbis are ascending to the Temple Mount more frequently and today a third of the Israeli public believes that when the day comes the temple should be erected. This number is only growing.

“This notion isn’t foreign to most Israelis,” says Segal. “They’re traditional and attached to the texts of the prayers and study of Judaism, which is full of the desire to re-establish the temple. The gap between consciousness and realization isn’t great.”

According to a study undertaken by journalist and social activist Yizhar Beer a year ago for the Ir Amim organization, about 12 official groups are working in Israel today to establish the temple. Some of them receive funding amounting to hundreds of thousands of shekels from the State of Israel. One of the main groups is the Temple Institute.

Thousands of people visit the Temple Institute every year, and it holds various training sessions meant to educate and raise consciousness. But they also work on the pragmatic level: The institute has the holy menorah, a modular altar that could quickly be taken apart and reassembled at the temple, the bronze basin, the shewbread (consecrated unleavened bread) table and no less than 40 sets of kosher priestly garments, which will be the prototype for the thousands of sets to be sewn in the future. The rabbis detailed 93 different tools that were used in the temple, and the Temple Institute also deals with them. “It’s based on very in-depth research done at various places,” explains Segal, “For instance, the garments of the high priest — identifying the stones in the breastplate, the whole issue of blue, purple and scarlet (particular colors mentioned in Exodus 28:6) and their recreation. It’s an entire research project of the past 20 years.”

There’s also an architectural plan. “I compare it to a late model car and a car from a hundred years ago,” explains Friedman, “there’s parts you can’t do without and there’s parts that change. A hundred years ago they also had an engine and wheels, but a lot of things change around it. The third temple will mostly look like the Second Temple, and there’s an organized plan for the Chamber of Hewn Stone, the seat of the Sanhedrin [the ancient high court assembly]. We know clearly that there will be a menorah, an altar, a shewbread table, the Holy of Holies. But we know that there will be no entryway in the sanctuary, what’s called a hall. It did exist in the First and Second Temples. The basin changed a lot over the generations and the Talmud notes that 12 spigots were added to it. It’s unknown how many they had before that.”

Friedman further explains that the modern era will also have a place in the planned temple. “Every judge will have a computer with a database and law decisions available. Fruit and grain sacrifices, which were kneaded by hand in the past to make a mixture for the sacrifice, could now be mixed in a mixer. I wrote a suggestion to build an electric oven to roast the Passover sacrifice, for the sake of the modern generation who don’t necessarily know how to roast a whole lamb,” he says. But he notes that modern advances could also create some difficulties: “The temple subsisted on the half-shekel tax. This money became sanctified when it was transferred to the temple. Today, when payments are made by direct deposit, they will only be numbers in bank accounts and there’s no actual sacred currency. It’s a nuance that needs to be considered.”

Secular Jews wouldn’t be opposed to paying these taxes when the day will come, he’s sure of it. “Just as the ultra-Orthodox pay taxes that go to the army,” he says. One thing is certain: The third temple will have cameras that will transmit what’s happening there to the whole world. The simulated sacrifice this Thursday can also be viewed online on the Temple Institute website.

Everything is ready, then, except two additional, small matters. The easy one, you’d be surprised, is the Ark of the Covenant. “The Second Temple didn’t have an ark, either,” Segel reminds me, and Friedman adds, “There are 10 studies about the location of the Ark of the Covenant. We read them and studied all of them, and reached the conclusion that the right answer is that it’s buried in the tunnels under the Temple Mount. When the day comes, we will get to it.”

The more problematic issue is the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Dome of the Rock, which slightly impedes the architectural plans. “The temple will not be built through private acts and blowing up mosques,” emphasizes Segal. “That’s not the direction. The direction is changing consciousness. The preparations are mental more than anything.” One of the people involved in preparations, who requested anonymity, explains, “If not for the problem of the Dome of the Rock, they would build the temple today, and the temple would be built there. The third temple will be built by the government of Israel, not by private individuals. No one will do what shouldn’t be done, like an underground action to blow up the Dome of the Rock. The people who are committed to establishing the temple are normative and rational people, and just like we established the State of Israel, the day will come when we will build the temple, in an orderly, state-sanctioned manner.”

Segel notes that it can all start small: “The location of the altar where sacrifices are allowed on the Temple Mount is not within the bounds of Al-Aqsa,” he says, “so at least they should let us sacrifice on the Temple Mount.” But before any sacrifices take place there, much may have to change: Currently, the State of Israel doesn’t often authorize Jews to ascend to the Temple Mount, much less pray there.

Rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem?

The dramatic recent collapse of the Arab-Israeli peace talks and the ongoing political turmoil involving the Temple Mount have again focused world attention on the centuries-old struggle for that sacred site. Since antiquity, the roughly 37 acres of the Temple Mount and its immediate surroundings have frequently been the focus of interreligious strife.

The destruction of the Jewish temple by the Romans in A.D. 70 was a devastating event in the history of Judaism. It served as a transforming catalyst in both the origins of Christianity and the transition of Israelite religion from a priestly sacrifice-centered system to the legalistic text-centered religion of rabbinic Judaism as we know it today. Ever since that catastrophic year, many Jews have longed for the restoration of their lost temple.

During the centuries after its destruction, Jews made three major attempts to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem. The first was the messianic movement of Shimon Bar Kokhba from A.D. 132-135. His efforts were cut short by the overwhelming victory of the Roman emperor Hadrian, who altogether expelled the Jews from Jerusalem and built a temple to Jupiter on the site of the ancient house of the Lord.

In 361, a second rebuilding program was undertaken with the support of Julian “the Apostate,” a Roman emperor who had been raised a Christian but, perhaps understandably unimpressed by the murderous intrigues of his “Christian” imperial family — he was a nephew of Constantine the Great — had converted to pagan polytheism. Hoping to embarrass Christians by proving that Jesus had uttered a false prophecy about the destruction of the temple (Mark 13:1-2), Julian subsidized Jewish plans to rebuild their temple at Jerusalem. But this venture ended almost before it began when Julian died in battle against the Persians in 363, and subsequent Christian emperors halted work on the temple.

The third effort occurred in 614, when the Persians — supported by Jews in both Mesopotamia and Palestine — took Jerusalem from the Christian Byzantines.

The Persians initially rewarded the Jews for their support by granting them permission to rebuild their temple. However, Jewish relations with the Persian emperor Khusraw rapidly deteriorated and permission was quickly withdrawn. When the Arabs conquered Jerusalem in 638 and erected the current Dome of the Rock on the site of the old temple, Jewish dreams faded into the eschatological distance. Their temple, most believed, would be rebuilt only after the Messiah came.

With the rise of the state of Israel in the mid-20th century, however, the hope of rebuilding the temple has again come to life, at least in the minds of some enthusiasts. With the political success of Israel over the past five decades, many Orthodox Jews have become militant Zionists; some of these see the building of a new “Third Temple” as a key element in their messianic Zionist agenda.

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement, under the leadership of Gershon Salomon, is one of the most active of these groups. They believe that God “expects Israel to re-liberate the Temple Mount from the pagan Arab worshippers” (see "Temple Mount Fanatics Foment a New Thirty Years' War," Executive Intelligence Review, Nov. 3, 2000). Their goal, as stated in their newsletters, is “the building of the Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in our lifetime.”

They vowed in their newsletters that “we shall do everything to save the Temple Mount from the terrible abomination (Daniel 11:31) which is done today by foreigners and enemies (Arabs) and to purify the Temple Mount … exactly as our forefathers did when they liberated the Temple Mount from foreign occupation and abomination” — presumably an allusion to the wars of the Maccabees in the second century B.C. (see "Secret and Suppressed II: Banned Ideas and Hidden History Into the 21st Century" edited by Adam Parfrey and Kenn Thomas, p. 91).

Such declarations by radical Jews that they plan to destroy the “abomination” of the Muslim Dome of the Rock and replace it with the Third Temple have been met with horror by Muslim worshippers, and by more than a few worried Jews.

Recent disturbances on the Temple Mount have been caused by increasing Jewish agitation to have Jewish prayers on the Muslim holy site and, ultimately, to establish a permanent Jewish presence there. Surrounded by armed Israeli guards, small groups of activists have recently marched onto the Temple Mount, provoking raucous and sometimes violent reactions from Muslim worshippers who see such acts as an intentional provocation and as the preliminary to full Israeli military occupation of the Temple Mount, the destruction of their shrines and the rebuilding of the Third Temple.

Information on some of these radical Jewish Third Temple movements can be found at templemountfaithful.org and templeinstitute.org.

Lawsuit Demands Bank Loans for 'Building the Third Temple'
Ethiopian immigrant sues Israel's major banks – for denying him loans that he is seeking to build the Third Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

An Ethiopian immigrant is suing Israel's major banks – because they are denying him loans that he is seeking to build the Third Holy Temple (Beit Hamikdash).

The Temple was the spiritual center of the Jewish people for millenia; the destruction of the first two temples marked the exile of the Jewish people twice, first to Babylonia and then to Rome. The destruction of the Second Temple rendered the Temple Mount a ruin, and was later taken over by first the Christians, and then the Muslims, who built two mosques on the site of the Temple.

With the revival of the State of Israel in 1948, many Jews believe that the prophecies of the Prophets discussing the renewal of Jewish life in Israel, the rebuilding of the Temple, and the arrival of the Messiah, are imminent.

In his lawsuit, the Ethiopian immigrant said that he arrived in the country in 1991. “We had tears in our eyes and we kissed the land when we arrived,” he said in a letter to the court. “But we later learned that the Temple was not yet built. Now G-d has revealed Himself to me and placed upon me the responsibility to rebuild the Temple. I have been collecting donations for this purpose, but I have been facing opposition to this plan from authorities.”

The banks that the immigrant has sought money from – Bank Discount, Tefahot, Leumi, and Hapoalim – have not been helpful either. “The banks are not allowing me to open accounts to receive donations, much less provide loans.” The immigrant is seeking damages in the amount of NIS 100 million ($35 million), which he said would go to the building fund.

However, the immigrant does not have enough money to file the lawsuit. Under Israeli law, anyone seeking damages in a civil suit must pay court fees of 2.5% of the amount they are seeking. The rule exists to prevent nuisance lawsuits from flooding Israeli courts.

The court can waive the fee if it is warranted, and the immigrant asked the court to do so. The court said that the suit, while justified, did not seek to correct a situation in which damages were caused to the individual. While the immigrant's sentiments are noble, “I hereby reject the request to waive the fee. At this point, we will have to be satisfied with the rebuilding of the Land of Israel, if not the Temple,” the court said.

Cheesy  $35 million for the "building fund"? He really has no idea what kind of money they are preparing, and likely already prepared, to spend on the temple rebuilding. I suspect 35 million MIGHT cover the steps leading up to the temple!

Jewish Women Recreating Temple Veil

For more than two years a small group of women have been attempting to recreate the veil that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies in the Temple in Jerusalem.

"The women of the veil chamber," as they call themselves, have founded a little workshop in the biblical Samarian community of Shiloh that is filled with weaving devices and wool. Their attempt to weave the veil is in accordance with the commandment: "you shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim" (Ex. 26:31).

Learning how to weave the veil is another way of preparing for the day the Temple will be rebuilt.

But the task is almost beyond reach. Everything needs to be learned from scratch. The weaving techniques and the special six-cord threads required by the biblical text, the production of the correct blue, purple and scarlet dyes - all of these are lost arts.

The size of the veil itself, a single rag-like object measuring 20 meters high, 10 meters wide and 10 centimeters thick, is a project of immense complexity in and of itself. The making of the veil is therefore going to be a long learning process of trial and error.

One of the more unique challenges is to weave the faces of the cherubim so that it is an eagle face on one side of the veil and a bull's face on the other side. Another is the aforementioned production of the exotic colors needed for the veil. The scarlet is assumed to be made out of an oak aphid; the blue out of a special sea snail. The purple was also produced from animals, though no one knows for certain what animal.

While the project is beset by seemingly insurmountable obstacles already in its infancy, the women believe they will be able to produce a veil that will pass the scrutiny of the rabbis.

In addition to the "the women of the veil chamber," there is another group of women who for four years already have been producing the priestly garments needed for Temple worship, including special trousers, tunics, sashes and hats.

The making of the priest's clothing also required a learning process, but unlike the veil, these were fairly simple to produce. Since according the Jewish law a priest can perform his duties only if he is wearing his special priestly clothes, some who would fill this role are already acquiring the required garments and keeping them safely in their homes. These garments, which have to be tailor-made for each person, are sold at affordable prices to encourage as many Jews of priestly lineage as possible to buy them.

Some may see such activities as provocative. Others may see it as delusional. The weavers themselves believe that by getting involved in such a holy activity they are hastening the time of Israel's redemption. Whatever the case, at the very least one cannot but admire the desire to revive a lost enchanting art that for one reason or another continues to excite millions around the world.

We’re Ready to Rebuild the Temple

Despite the tragic war Israel is currently entangled in, our generation has been blessed with the fulfillment of numerous Biblical promises. We have seen the rebirth of the State of Israel and continue to witness the Ingathering of the Exiles from the four corners of the world. For the first time in centuries Jerusalem is in Jewish hands, yet once a year, on the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av, Jews fast, cry and mourn for the destruction of our Holy Temple. How can we ignore all these great blessings and why do we mourn for a building that was destroyed 2,000 years ago?

The Bible repeatedly describes the Temple as the spiritual center of the world and the source for peace and prosperity. In Isaiah’s famous vision the prophet describes, “They shall beat their swords into plowshares…for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” The absence of the Temple is seen in the stories reported on the nightly news and its void adversely affects nations, geo-politics and global peace.  Director of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, Rabbi Chaim Richman explains that the 9th of Av “is not about bemoaning the Temple. It’s about bemoaning the world without the Temple. A world that has lost its light, its color and its direction.”

Indeed, there is a growing “Temple Movement” in Israel today with thousands of Jews working to rebuild the Temple. According to a poll taken last year in a leading newspaper Ha’aretz, one third of Israelis believe that Israel should erect the Temple on the Temple Mount. Israel’s Housing Minister called publicly for the rebuilding of the Temple, “We’ve built many little, little temples,” MK Uri Ariel said, referring to synagogues, “but we need to build a real Temple on the Temple Mount.”

Schools throughout Israel are diligently studying the intricate laws of the Temple and Jews of all backgrounds visit the Temple Mount each month. The Jerusalem Post quoted Sarit Berko, a non-observant Israeli who came to the Western Wall to observe the 9th of Av from her home in Tel Aviv, an annual pilgrimage she has made since the Six Day War in 1967. “During Passover, most Jews say ‘Next year in Jerusalem’,” explained Berko, “As an Israeli I pray, ‘Next year may the Third Temple be built and last for eternity.’

The Temple is such a central theme in the Bible that one third of all its commandments deal with laws carried out in it. Rabbi Richman explains that far from being an extremist, “our desire to see a rebuilt Temple is an expression of healthy, normative Judaism.”  To further their advocacy, the Temple Institute recently released a short video “The Children are Ready” which dramatically portrays young Jewish kids dragging their fathers from synagogue services in order to join them in the rebuilding of the Temple.

Tisha B’Av: The Children are Ready

While it is true that our generation has much to be grateful for and that our return to Israel is nothing short of miraculous, the golden dome sitting atop the Temple Mount provides a constant reminder that the Torah cannot be fulfilled perfectly and Judaism cannot be expressed fully until the Third Temple is rebuilt in Jerusalem.

May God quickly end this ugly war Israel is entangled in and bring a lasting and eternal peace to Zion so that this 9th of Av is the last sorrowful day and we all rejoice together in the streets of Jerusalem with the arrival of the Messiah and the redemption of the world.

Is it possible Temple wasn't on 'Temple Mount'?
Biblical historian calls discovery a 'stepping stone of prophecy' heralding Christ's return

Now, biblical historian, author and filmmaker Ken Klein believes he’s found evidence to pinpoint the Temple’s location. Klein also believes the precise location for the Temple is historically and biblically significant for the return of Christ.

“In order for there to be a return of Christ, there has to be an Antichrist,” Klein told WND. “The Antichrist is mentioned in the book of Second Thessalonians as the one who will go into the Temple of God and proclaim himself to be God.

“That will be a defiling of that Temple, so yes, it’s significant to Christians because it fits into the stepping stones of prophecy that need to be fulfilled before Christ returns,” he continued.

“Now, many Christians say the Rapture is going to happen and we will be out of here before that. That’s an academic discussion,” Klein said. “One thing we know for sure: Before Christ returns to set up His kingdom, there has to be a rebuilt Temple. So, is it going to be built on the Temple Mount where the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque are, where most people believe it will be built?

“The Jews could tear down the mosque and build their Temple there, but that will be wrong,” Klein said.

Klein believes that through his research, he has found the location of the (Solomon’s) First Temple and (Ezra’s, later also called Herod’s) Second Temple and, therefore, the location for the Third Temple yet to be rebuilt.

“I suspect it will be built on the southeast ridge of the Temple Mount,” Klein told WND. “The First Temple was built on the southeast ridge, and the Second Temple was built on the southeast ridge (in a location about 600 feet from the present wall) and we prove it pretty dramatically in my film.”

Klein says he believes he received further confirmation for the accuracy of his discovery in a recent trip to Jerusalem.

“When we went to Jerusalem a month ago, my colleague David, who’s in my film, we followed Solomon’s prayer and went down and prayed where we thought the Temple was, on the southeastern ridge, about 600 feet down from the southern wall. We prayed. Right away we noticed God working circumstantially in our itinerary,” Klein said.

“When you think about the hundreds of books and all of these people who are on radio and TV and say that Jesus is going to walk through the Eastern Gate, that’s not the Eastern Gate and that’s not even the Temple,” Klein asserted. “The places they go on their tours of the Holy Land – it’s silliness. It has nothing to do with reality or the history of Jerusalem.”

Klein also told WND he believes rebuilding the Temple on the correct location will signal the nearness of the return of Jesus to the earth.

Temple Institute Produces Pure Olive Oil for Temple Menorah

The Temple Institute in Jerusalem produced, for the first time in 2000 years, the first flask of pure olive oil fit for use in the Temple’s Menorah.

150 kg of organic olives from the Golan Heights were used to make 4 1/2 liters of olive oil, which were produced under special conditions to maintain their ritual purity and then stored in clay flasks specially made for the oil.

The oil will be brought to the Temple Institute in Jerusalem’s Old City on Monday night, December 22, 2014, the 7th night of Chanukah.

The procession will begin at 5:30 PM at Zion Gate and meet at the Golden Menorah on the Rabbi Yehuda HaLevi Stairs, opposite the site of the Holy Temple, at 6:00 PM.

At 6:30 PM In a joyous, song-filled procession, the pure olive oil will be deposited in the Temple Institute’s Holy Temple Visitors Center

Prayers to God in wrong spot?
Temple Mount 'misplaced': 'We're sitting on kryptonite'

It has been called the most contested plot of land in the world — the fissure at which three major faiths come together, and break apart.

There have been holy wars fought over it and holy writ foretelling of battles yet to come. It’s Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

But what if history got it wrong? What if the spot where Solomon built the first Jewish Temple, and Herod built the second, was actually about 600 feet to the south, in a place known as the ancient City of David?

Enter Robert Cornuke. He travels the world solving Bible mysteries: Noah’s Ark, the Ark of the Covenant, he’s studied them in depth. Now, he’s obsessed with the Jewish Temple.

His self-deprecating sense of humor and easy-going style have helped him gain access to some of the world’s most sensitive archaeological sites.

But don’t be fooled.

He attacks each mission with the doggedness of a street cop skilled in investigations. That’s because he was a street cop for nearly a decade in California before a three-hour gun battle with a man holed up with 700 rounds of ammo some years ago caused him to rethink his career options.

His new book, “Temple: Amazing New Discoveries that Change Everything About the Location of Solomon’s Temple,” is turning heads in scholarly circles for its pure audacity.

To suggest that the traditional Temple Mount, where Jews have prayed at the Wailing Wall and where Muslims pray at the Dome of the Rock, is actually not the holy ground they believe it to be, is sacrilege to many historians and archaeologists, not to mention clerics.

Yet, his case is so well researched that it’s hard to ignore. Many are reading, and re-reading, perhaps hoping to find some obvious blunder that would allow them to discount its conclusion.

Because, if it is true, that means the unthinkable for Muslims, and opens new possibilities for Jews.

Robert Cornuke

Robert Cornuke

“We have an opportunity to impact history, positively or negatively,” Cornuke said. “What we’re sitting on is the kryptonite of Bible archaeology.”

He was careful to point out this was not his idea. He merely followed up and expanded upon the work of Ernest L. Martin, an archaeologist who wrote the 1994 book, “The Temples that Jerusalem Forgot.”

Filmmaker Ken Klein has also delved into the subject in his documentary, “Jerusalem and the Lost Temple of the Jews.”

“This is not my brainchild,” he told WND. “I’m the benefactor of Dr. Martin, who really came up with this research but his book didn’t get much attention because it contained a lot of minutia that people had to wade through. I tried to write a book that is readable.

“The site has been misdiagnosed and been accepted for so long that no one has ever dared challenge it,” Cornuke continued. “I researched it to the best of my ability, from the standpoint of a police investigator, and came up with a reasonable conclusion.”

Because he’s dared to question what has become historically sacrosanct – the location of the first and second Jewish temples – he’s getting a lot of phone calls.

“I’ve had a lot of scholars, guys with PhDs and working on PhDs, going over this with me, and two are now doing their doctoral dissertations on where the temple was located, because this has opened up a whole new vein,” Cornuke said. “It seems preposterous but these guys are calling me and saying, ‘Wait a minute; this is crazy, and why haven’t we ever seen this before?’”

His book has only been out about six months, but it’s starting to upset the apple cart.

“It’s just one of those things, word of mouth, where people are talking about it, and literally I can’t get much work done now because I’m taking calls and referring people to our distributor,” he said. “It started small at first and is really catching on now.”

He realizes some will scoff while others will read and appraise the body of evidence on its merits.

“Bible archaeology is considered to be the most controversial subject within archaeology, and the Temple Mount is the most controversial part of Bible archaeology, according to Discovery Channel,” Cornuke said. “Literally, what I’m doing is taking on the most controversial subject in archaeology. So I’m surprised I have not received a personal email or someone hasn’t called me or confronted me and said, ‘You’re wrong with this premise, and here’s why.’”

So, exactly what is the proof behind his premise? And if the Western Wall is not the ruins of the ancient temple, then what is it?

The answers Cornuke gives to these questions, if proven true, could rock the prophetic world and shake the Middle East to its core.

‘Not one stone left upon another’

He starts his story with the strategic placement of the Dome of the Rock and moves on to the teachings of Jesus and an eyewitness account by Jewish historian Flavius Josephus.

The Arab caliph Adb al-Malik built the Dome of the Rock in 691 A.D. on a site chosen largely because it overshadowed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the place where Jesus is believed to have risen from the dead. Muslims see their religion as the perfection of Judaism and Christianity and this supersessionist mentality influences their architecture throughout the Middle East. To build the Dome of the Rock larger and above the church commemorating Christ’s resurrection was meant as a statement to Christians, who were the dominant religion in the area before the Muslim invaders arrived.

Then comes the prophecy of Jesus. In Matthew 24, He and His disciples exited the Temple, and Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another that shall not be thrown down.”

But the Western Wall where Jews still pray has thousands of stones remaining intact. They believe it is the western wall of their temple and, therefore, a holy place, often referred to as the Wailing Wall.

But historical accounts say the Romans so fully destroyed the Jewish Temple in 70 A.D., it became nothing but a field of weeds. Many Jews were carried off to captivity, and those who were left with a memory of the true location eventually died off, Cornuke argues.

Read the entire breathtaking account of Robert Cornuke’s quest to find the true location of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem.

Josephus’s account of Roman fortress

But there is a written account from Josephus, the first century author of “Jewish Wars,” whose works are considered highly credible on other topics, but for some reason his description of the temple location is denigrated and dismissed by modern historians.

Josephus wrote that the site that today is considered the Temple Mount was actually a Roman fort called Fort Antonia. The fortress was large enough to support the Roman Tenth Legion, about 6,000 soldiers plus support staff for a total of about 10,000 personnel.

“The Roman fort would need at least the area of the present day Temple Mount (36 acres) to sustain itself,” Cornuke writes. “Josephus wrote that the fort was said to be much larger than the temple, but scholars say the temple area is much bigger than the fort. Again, who is right? According to many academics, Josephus exaggerated and is the culprit.”

In 1973, the famous historian Michael Avi-Yonah made a model of first-century Jerusalem showing the Roman fort as a small appendage to the temple on the northwest corner.

This fits nicely with tradition while ignoring eyewitness accounts, Cornuke says. “This has all resulted in us having today almost every television documentary on the subject of the temple showing the Avi-Yonah model as an ‘accurate in every way’ illustrative prop.”

There’s only one problem: That prop is far too small to accommodate the Roman legion described by Josephus.

And there is another caveat to consider. Apparently a translator of Josephus’s work mistranslated a word, tagma, or legion as a “cohort,” which is a much smaller contingent of about 480 men. Every other time Josephus uses the word tagma, he uses it to describe much larger numbers of soldiers, such as the fifth, 10th, 12th and 15th legions.

“A small Roman cohort would certainly harmonize with a small Roman fort as we have in the Avi-Yonah model,” Cornuke writes.

But would 480 men have been sufficient to maintain order in a province populated by riot-prone Jews? During religious festivals, Jerusalem’s population swelled from about 175,000 during the time of Christ to upward of 300,000.

Not to mention, the Book of Acts says Paul was arrested and escorted by 470 men from Fort Antonia to Caesarea. “So, are we to believe that a garrison of only about 480 men would send 470 of them off to Caesarea to protect a single prisoner bound in chains, and then leave the entire garrison practically empty with a handful of soldiers to defend and control as many as a quarter million, depending on festival crowds?” Cornuke asks.

Another eyewitness and clues from the Bible

Another eyewitness was Eleazar Bin Jari, commander of the Jewish rebels at Masada. He described Jerusalem as lying in total ruins: “It (Jerusalem) is now demolished to the very foundations, and hath nothing left but that monument of it preserved, I mean the camp of those (the Romans) that hath destroyed it, which still dwells upon its ruins.”

In other words, nothing was left standing in Jerusalem other than the Roman Fort Antonia, with its high stone walls still intact. Eleazar said the temple was completely gone, even its very foundation uprooted, fulfilling the prophecy of Jesus.

This account also fulfills the prophecy of Micah 3:12: It says “Zion (which is the City of David) shall be plowed like a field. Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins. And the mountains of the Temple like the bare hills of the forest.”

So, if Jerusalem was left with the western wall of the temple still standing, that forces one to consider thinking of Micah as a false prophet.

Cornuke cites a slew of other Bible verses that support his theory about the temple site being at “the stronghold of Zion” in the City of David.

A powerful clue can be found in 2 Chronicles 3:1, which describes the location where Solomon built the temple “on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.”

This threshing floor, where wheat was separated from chaff, had been purchased by David after he conquered a 12-acre fortress on a hill south of today’s Old City section of Jerusalem. That hill is today located within the City of David Jerusalem Walls National Park.

Another clue, the clincher for Cornuke, came when he read the New Testament Book of Acts, Chapter 21: 27-32. It describes a riot scene in which Paul was arrested at the temple by the commander of the Roman garrison.

The commander “immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them (toward the temple).”

“The ‘aha moment’ for me came when I read Acts 21,” Cornuke said, “where it says they went down the steps to get Paul. Well, there are no steps coming down from the traditional Temple Mount complex. From a cop’s point of view, there’s no other way.”

Or, as he writes in his book, “If the Temple Mount was the place of Paul’s riot scene, then the big question is where would someone go down from to reach Paul?”

Of course the answer is, you couldn’t. Unless the traditional Temple Mount was actually the Roman Fort and the true temple site was below, at the City of David.

Clues from scrolls and in water

Cornuke also found clues in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which contained this cryptic instruction:

“You shall make a channel all-round the laver within the building. The channel runs (from the building) of the laver to a shaft, goes down and disappears in the middle of the earth so that the water flows and runs through it and is lost in the middle of the earth.”

The description is of a natural spring of water below the Jewish temple.

Tacitus, the Roman historian, likewise recorded that the temple at Jerusalem had a natural spring of water that welled from its interior.

There is only one spring this could be referring to, the Gihon Spring, in the old City of David, also called the stronghold of Zion in Scripture.

“There is no other such spring anywhere else in Jerusalem,” Cornuke writes. “The spring connection, especially a robust gushing spring, seems to be like a laser pointer aimed at the City of David and not at the Temple Mount as the temple site.”

Cornuke cites Joel 3:18, which says, “A fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord,” and Psalm 87:5,7, which says, “And of Zion it will be said … Both the singers and the players on the instruments say, ‘All my springs are within you.’”

And another nugget is found in Ezekiel 47:1-2:

“Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south to the altar.”

The many animals slaughtered for the temple sacrifices would have required a powerful water source to wash away the tremendous amount of blood that would have been left behind. The City of David site has this water source, the traditional Temple Mount would have been nearly a quarter mile away from the Gihon Spring.

By this point, the long-held narrative of history’s writers begins to unravel. As a former cop, Cornuke is not so surprised.

“You know how many people are sitting in jail right now who were falsely accused, because you can always take somebody and make him the bad guy but not everything fits,” Cornuke told WND. “It’s like a Rubik’s cube that starts coming together, but you’re just a little bit off. Or think of the wheel on a car. If you don’t have the right size wheel, the holes aren’t going to align with the little studs, and so you have to find parts that fit. And nothing really fit on the Temple Mount complex; it just didn’t align there.”

Implications ‘staggering’ for Jews and Muslims

Bible scholar Chuck Missler, when presented with Cornuke’s evidence, said the implications for the future are staggering.

“As Chuck Missler told me, if this is true, this changes everything,” Cornuke told WND. “This turns archaeology in the Middle East on its head.”

It’s a game-changer because it releases the Jewish people to start rebuilding on a site that is already in their control.

“What it means is, the Jews now have a place they can rebuild their long-foretold temple, and for Muslims, they would lose control, which they love having over the Jews,” Cornuke said. “They can say, ‘You can pray here’ or ‘You can’t pray there,’ and the Jews are really frustrated by all this. But if they can rebuild there, in the City of David, and can do it tomorrow, what does that do with end-time prophecy, which says the antichrist will go there and sit in the temple and that leads to the coming of Christ? People have been fighting over that patch of real estate for thousands of years and that now kind of changes the whole game in the Middle East.”

Cornuke calls it “the biggest blunder in archaeological history that no one has really challenged.”

“Every book I read said this is the one place that is undisputed and that we can really rely upon, but archaeology is not a science. It’s an art. You have to take a lot of things in to develop a conclusion, and then it’s your best guess. It’s not empirical evidence. I’m not an archaeologist. I have PhD in Bible and theology, and a background as a police investigator, so what I do have is a very well-established background in investigations. I used those skills.”

Cornuke said he lacks the professional constraints of archaeologists, freeing him to take more risks.

“Scholars want to be published. They want prestige, or they want to be promoted,” he said. “That’s the university system they work under.

“Police detectives have a completely different method: We’re interested in, what are the problems and what are the possibilities?

“Josephus said the fortress overlooked the temple. Nothing fits on the Temple Mount, but the tour guides have said it for so many years, the same thing year after year. After so long, no one ever questions it. This is the way it is.”

By its very nature, university scholarship is reluctant to “test the waters,” Cornuke said.

“They want to stay in the safe harbor because testing things would open them up to scrutiny, and you’re going to get hammered, whether you’re right or wrong, and most scholars don’t want to have that, so they wait on others.

“I don’t want to bash scholarship,” he continued. “I want to say, hey, this is the evidence, and the evidence is very provocative to say the least.”

The Jewish response

On a recent visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Cornuke said he did an informal straw poll of Jewish people at the Wailing Wall.

“Everyone over 40 years old said, ‘I don’t care what you say, or what evidence you have, it’s not going to change the way I think. My father brought me here, my grandfather brought me here, and it’s all been at the Western Wailing Wall.’”

Those under 40 were less wedded to tradition.

“They said, ‘Cool, now we can rebuild our temple.’ They were excited. They wanted to know more. Then their father would come over and say, ‘Don’t talk anymore to this gentile.”

I even had a man who represents an Israeli cabinet official that wanted to get my book to (Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu, so I signed it and he was delivering it that day to Netanyahu.”

That was just two weeks ago.

“And I’ve had several rabbis that have contacted me,” Cornuke said. “I gave a talk in New Hampshire where the Jewish community was asked to come out and hear my presentation. Before I even started a father, mother, daughter and son got up and walked out. They obviously wanted to make a point. But after my presentation, the Jewish community, who was there in numbers, stood up with tears in their eyes and said we are sorry we have missed this in history, and thank you.’ I was astounded at that response.”

Cornuke says he can understand the reluctance for Jewish leaders in Jerusalem to accept his theory, because to do so requires them to come to grips with the fact that they’ve been praying at the wall of a Roman fort all these years. But if evaluated objectively, he sees the evidence as overwhelming.

“This is not a guess by me. As a police investigator, I feel this book would win a jury over,” he said. “I didn’t write it to be right; I wrote it as a gift to the Jewish people, so they can rebuild their temple.”

But the response of older Jews at the Wailing Wall was not positive.

“They kinda held up their hands, and they pointed to the foundation and said, ‘Look, there are thousands of huge stones, foundation stones, here,’ and your Jesus is wrong, because our Temple is here.’”

So Cornuke, or perhaps others following up his lead have more work to convince the Jewish people they have a free and clear site upon which to rebuild their holy temple

“There comes a time when you have to force feed your mind past reason and logic to accept some of these things that tradition teaches,” he said. “Jesus said: ‘Every stone will be thrown down,’ and every word of His prophecy has been fulfilled.”

If some aren’t ready to accept his findings, that’s OK, he said.

“We will never discover anything,” he said. “God reveals it in His time, in His way, for His glory, but He can always use a knucklehead cop from California to do this.”

"The Senate unanimously passed a resolution welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before a joint session of Congress.

No Democrat senators sponsored the resolution but none caved to reported pressure from the White House to vote against it.

“The Senate warmly welcomes the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, on his visit to the United States,” the resolution reads, “which provides a timely opportunity to reinforce the United States-Israel relationship.”

The resolution goes on to vow that the U.S. will “strongly support Israel’s right to defend itself from threats to its very survival.”

The Obama administration has been working to sabotage the address, fearing that it may hurt its relationship with Iran. The White House has caved to Iran’s demands and is expected to allow the Muslim nation to retain the most controversial aspects of its nuclear program.

The White House has also been working behind the scenes to provide taxpayer money to help defeat Netanyahu in Israel’s upcoming election.

The president has said that he will not meet with Netanyahu on his visit to the United States, ostensibly so as not to seem to be supporting one candidate over another.

Netanyahu is expected to tell Congress in his address that the White House is about to complete a deal with Iran."

Holy Altar constructed for 3rd Jewish Temple
Announcement considered major step in Bible prophecy

End-times prophecy watchers are marveling over a news report out of Jerusalem this week that the Altar of the Lord has been reconstructed by the Temple Institute.

The Institute, based in the Old City of Jerusalem, announced it has finished building an altar that is essentially “ready for use” in sacrificial services.

The altar is the most ambitious project to date toward the goal of rebuilding the Jewish Temple. The massive outdoor altar, which took several years to build, can be operational at little more than a moment’s notice, reported the Israeli magazine Matzav Haruach.

The altar is the last major component needed for the long-obstructed sacrifices to resume in a future Jewish temple.

Ultra-Orthodox Jews pray daily for its reconstruction atop the holy hill known as Mount Moriah or the Temple Mount.

Bible scholars say the rebuilding of the ancient temple is predicted throughout scripture, starting with Daniel’s vision in Daniel 9:27. Jesus echoed Daniel’s warning about an abomination standing in “the holy place” in the last days in Matthew 24:15, followed by the Apostle John’s vision of the Temple in Revelation 11:1-2. Paul mentioned it in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4.

Most people don’t realize the temple had two altars — the altar of burnt offering and the altar of incense. The largest was the altar of burnt offering, placed in the outer court of the priests. Designing and building it to exact biblical specifications required quite an undertaking.

It was approximately 5 meters (16 feet) tall and 16 meters (52.5 feet) wide, with four “horns” or raised corners, and a ramp.

The altar is the central focus of the sacrificial services that were halted with the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 70 A.D.

The Temple Institute has prepared all the priestly garments and sacred vessels for the rebuilt temple, which can be viewed on its website.  It even trains members of the priestly family to be ready to serve as soon as the Temple is constructed.

Carl Gallups, a Baptist pastor in Florida, Bible prophecy expert and author of “Final Warning: Understanding the Trumpet Days of Revelation,” told WND the announcement about the altar will be seen by many Christians as a huge step toward fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

“This announcement will surely excite prophecy watchers around the world,” he said. “Regardless of one’s eschatological leanings, every sincere student of the Word of God knows there are at least hints, if not clear declarations, of something happening just before the return of the Lord that involves altar sacrifices and the distinct possibility of a rebuilt temple on the Temple Mount.”

New Details Emerge on Rebuilt Altar of Jewish Holy Temple [PHOTOS]
By Ahuva Balofsky March 23, 2015 , 9:10 am

As Breaking Israel News reported earlier this month, the Temple Institute in Jerusalem has completed the construction of the stone altar required for the sacrificial service in the Holy Temple. In response to several inaccuracies in both the Hebrew and English media due to lack of information, the organization released its first detailed statement about the exciting event.

The altar was completed late in 2014, and officially inaugurated during the Institute’s public kindling ceremony for the Golden Menorah on the seventh night of the Hanukkah holiday, which fell on December 22.

Contrary to what was reported earlier, the height of the altar is not five meters (16 ft), but five amot, a Biblical measurement equivalent to roughly 2.35 meters (7.7 ft). Each amah measures 46-38 centimeters (18-19 inches). The ramp leading up to the altar is 16 amot long.

These measurements are in accordance with the opinion of Maimonides, the renowned medieval Jewish commentator and philosopher. This represents the smallest possible dimensions for a Kosher (permitted by Jewish law) functioning altar.

According to information released by the Temple Institute, since the Torah forbids the use of hewn stones in an altar (see Deuteronomy 27:5-6), it “consists of an outer frame of earthen bricks, oven-baked to withstand the extreme heat of the altar when in use. This outer frame is filled with natural stones, untouched by metal implements, as per Torah imperative. The outer brick frame is covered with a thin white plaster, as was done with the altar that stood in the Holy Temple courtyard.”

The base of the altar contains two portals for collecting the blood poured during animal sacrifices, in accordance with the Torah. It is also crowned with four raised corners, called horns by the Torah.

One thing that makes this altar unique is that it was designed to be disassembled and quickly reassembled in its correct position on the Temple Mount. According to the Temple Institute, “The people of Israel are required to build an altar exclusively on the site of the original altar on Mount Moriah, the Temple Mount. When circumstances become favorable, this new altar can be quickly re-assembled on the proper location, enabling the Divine service to be resumed without delay.”

The altar is temporarily on display at the Temple Institute, located in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, with most of its outer frame and the bottom edge of its base removed to show the inner filling stones. The entire altar project is part of the Institute’s goal of relearning the knowledge of the Temple service, thus its construction was for instructional as well as practical purposes.

The altar was designed by architect Shmuel Balzam, who is also drawing up the plans for the Third Temple. Those plans are the fruit of an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, which raised over $100,000 towards rebuilding the Temple Sanctuary. The preliminary stages of the project will be presented March 25, at an International Temple Mount Awareness Day event.

THE TEMPLE INSTITUTE CONDUCTS UNPRECEDENTED PASSOVER OFFERING PRACTICE DRILL

In preparation for the upcoming festival of Passover, this past Wednesday (5 Nisan - 25 March) the 'Priestly Training Academy' established by the Temple Institute held a Passover offering practice drill that was documented by professional photographers. This was the most accurate and authentic reenactment of this service to have taken place in nearly 2,000 years.

The Temple Institute is currently producing an educational documentary film which will depict the various stages of the Passover offering. A DVD is also in the works for the benefit of yeshivot, seminaries and schools, and all who wish to study the details of this important subject.

The Kohanim who participated in this drill, all true descendants of Aaron, all wore authentic Priestly garments and recited the appropriate 'blessings' ( in practice mode) which applied to each stage of the commandment's fulfillment. The event was accompanied by blasts from silver trumpets, and the song of the Levitical choir.

Other stages of the drill included: examination of the lamb for blemishes, the priests bringing the animal to the Temple courtyard, the shechita and receiving the blood which is brought to the corner of the altar, skinning and separation of the inner parts, and the roasting of the whole lamb as required by the Divine command, in a special Passover oven designed and built for this purpose.

During 'chol hamoed', the intermediary days of Passover, the Temple Institute's Holy Temple Visitors Center is open to the public until 9:00 PM. Special presentations for children and Passover-oriented guided tours are planned! For details call 02-6264545

Temple Mount Faithful sacrifices lamb in pre-Passover ritual

Yehuda Glick participates in annual ritual, also attended by Jerusalem chief rabbi and municipal official who arranged funding from city coffers.

It looked like a scene from year 200 BCE, or the end of days – yet it all played out just two days ago, on Monday, not far from the Temple Mount.

Kohanim in authentic attire blessed the excited crowd, Levites sang hymns, and a young lamb was offered up as a Passover sacrifice in keeping with all the dictates of the ancient ritual.

This "dress rehearsal," staged every year by members of the Temple Mount Faithful movement, is designed to present the public with an accurate rendition of the ritual that was in practice during the time of the Temple, which they hope to erect anew.

Back then, Seder night was not merely a sumptuous meal with uncles and aunts and four cups of wine, but a production that started almost a week earlier with the selection and slaughter of one of the family's lambs, and culminated in a festive meal in memory of the night when our ancestors were rescued from slavery in Egypt.

And Monday saw the Temple Mount Faithful at it again, with the ritual enacted to the letter – from the slaughtering of the lamb, its skinning, the spilling of its blood on the specially constructed altar, the burning of some of its organs on the altar, the roasting of the meat, and through to the serving of the best bits to the Kohanim, on the backdrop of trumpeting and songs of praise.

Despite the Temple Mount Faithful's fringe-group status, attending the ritual this year were several rabbis from the mainstream of religious Zionism, including Jerusalem Chief Rabbi Arye Stern, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu and Rabbi Yaaqov Medan from the Har Etzion Yeshiva, along with Jerusalem councilman Aryeh King, who arranged funding for the event from the municipality.

Also in attendance was Temple Mount activist Yehuda Glick, who survived an assassination attempt by an Arab terrorist some six months ago.

"Five months ago, the doctors didn't give me more than a two to five percent chance of surviving," Glick said at the event.

"My children came to the hospital to say goodbye to me. I wish I could offer up a sacrifice to express my gratitude, but we can't do so today. Who knows, perhaps we will be able to soon."

Around 100 animal rights activists demonstrated in Jerusalem on Tuesday against the ritual.

Watch: Historic Omer Barley Offering Held in Jerusalem

Temple Institute holds reenactment of new barley offering on same day it was performed in Holy Temple thousands of years ago.

After reenacting the historic Pesach (Passover) sacrifice offering last Wednesday, the Temple Institute together with Women on Behalf of the Holy Temple held another historic event, renewing the Omer harvest and offering of the new barley crop on Sunday.

The reenactment of the offering and training session for kohanim priestly descendants was held on the 16th of Nisan in the Jewish calendar, the same day when the Omer offering was performed in the Holy Temple in ancient times.

Offering the Omer is a commandment from the Torah, and was instituted to be held annually at the Temple. It marks the first day of the fifty day countdown from Pesach up until the Shavuot holiday, which commemorates the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai in Biblical times.

The event was held as part of the Temple Institute's activities to prepare for renewed Temple service at the time of the Third Temple.
