Common Core's Dirty Little Secret
http://www.stopcommoncoreinoregon.com/2013/05/common-cores-dirty-little-secret.html
5/18/13

Common Core has a dirty little secret...data collection.

There are four hundred points of data being collected, monitored and stored on every child in the American education system. Monitoring devices are being implemented in our children's classrooms. All of this is being done under the guise of education reform.

What is the SLDS?

The State Longitudinal Database System, is a comprehensive database compiled on each child. This data is not aggregate data, it is linked specifically to the child. Data that is collected will follow the child through to their adult years and beyond. In fact, that is the purpose of the SLDS, to provide a database that “grows” along with the child into their career years.

The Workforce Data Quality Initiative's Mission Statement from the United States Department of Labor's website reads:

"The long-term Workforce Data Quality Initiative and SLDS goal for States is to use their longitudinal data systems to follow individuals through school and into and through their work life."

"Enable workforce data to be matched with education data to ultimately create longitudinal data systems with individual-level information beginning with pre-kindergarten through post-secondary schooling all the way through entry and sustained participation in the workforce and employment services system."

The SLDS has been implemented nationwide in each state. It became fully operational in 2012.

The funding for the SLDS was from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act in 2009. Oregon was awarded $10.5 million to create our SLDS.

Along the way the SLDS was transformed into the P20W, or the Preschool through age 20 Workforce Tracking. As the US Department of Labor stated, the P20W is to “enable workforce data to matched with education data...with individual-level information.” It is a “cradle to career” monitoring system. Children will not be the only ones under scrutiny. Teachers are going to be linked directly to their students and their performance will be assessed on the data that is collected. Parents' information is also being collected. This is essentially a complete dossier on every American that will follow them throughout their life. A permanent record of their beliefs, behavior, and their preferences.

How is this possible if we have privacy laws in place specifically for the handling of personal information? With the implementation of the SLDS, the FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) had to be altered. In December of 2011 FERPA was amended to include exceptions in which student information could be shared without parental knowledge or consent.

Let's take a look at the exception.

“One exception, which permits disclosure without consent, is disclosure to school officials with legitimate educational interests. A school official is a person employed by the school as an administrator, supervisor, instructor, or support staff member (including health or medical staff and law enforcement unit personnel) or a person serving on the school board. A school official may also include a volunteer or contractor outside of school who performs an institutional service of function for which the school would otherwise use its own employees and who is under the direct control of the school with respect to the use and maintenance of PII from education records such as an attorney, auditor, medical consultant, or therapist; a parent or student volunteering to serve on an official committee, such as a disciplinary or grievance committee; or parent, student, or other volunteer assisting another school official in performing his or her tasks. A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an education record in order to fulfill his or her professional responsibility.”

Did we leave anyone out? Basically anyone, anywhere, for any reason can access your child's information without your knowledge or consent.

400 points of data will be collected. The National Education Data Model's website had a listing but the site was “reworked” and now they are buried deep in the site. Fortunately, we have some very technically savvy people fighting against the Common Core and one person in New Jersey was able to download all 400 points, we have a link to these listed   on our website.

Ones of interest are:
•Non-school activity status (groups your child is involved in on personal time)

•Family income range

•Religious affiliation

•Medical laboratory procedure results

inBloom, Inc.is the newly formed not-for-profit organization that will warehouse the data collected by the SLDS.  All of your child's personal information will be compiled in a centralized location and shared at the whims of inBloom and the State.

This collection of data is attracting start-up educational companies and third parties like vultures to a fresh kill.

An article from Rueters states:

“The most influential new product may be the least flashy: a $100 million database built to chart the academic paths of public school students from kindergarten through high school. In operation just three months, the database already holds files on millions of children identified by name, address and sometimes social security number. Learning disabilities are documented, test scores recorded, attendance noted. In some cases, the database tracks student hobbies, career goals, attitudes toward school - even homework completion.

...federal law allows them to share files in their portion of the database with private companies selling educational products and services.

Entrepreneurs can't wait.

The database is a joint project of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which provided most of the funding, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and school officials from several states. Amplify Education, a division of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, built the infrastructure over the past 18 months. When it was ready, the Gates Foundation turned the database over to a newly created nonprofit, inBloom Inc, which will run it

The sector is undeniably hot; technology startups aimed at K-12 schools attracted more than $425 million in venture capital last year, according to the NewSchools Venture Fund, a nonprofit that focuses on the sector. The investment company GSV Advisors tracked 84 deals in the sector last year, up from 15 in 2007.

In addition to its $100 million investment in the database, the Gates Foundation has pledged $70 million in grants to schools and companies to develop personalized learning tools.”

Our children have been sold to the highest bidders.

The question uppermost in every parent's mind is: “Is my child's information safe?” inBloom answers us with this reassuring security policy clause:

“inBloom, Inc and inBloom, Inc Contractors strive to keep inBloom and PII (Personally Identifiable Information) secure, and inBloom, Inc uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to do so, however, inBloom, Inc cannot guarantee the security of the information stored in inBloom or that the information will not be intercepted when it is being transmitted.”

Well that makes me feel a whole lot better...how about you?

There are several methods of data collection and data mining that are involved in the Common Core initiative.

The first being technology.

Facial recognition cameras perched atop computers, will enable teachers and administrators to evaluate a child's emotional response to what they are learning or what they are being told to do. A pressure sensitive mouse will enable those same evaluators to determine how stressed a child is when they are required to do something. A posture-sensitive chair will reveal a child's temperament via their body language. This is directly from the “Promoting Grit, Tenacity and Perseverance” document from the Department of Education, page 44.

Health monitoring bracelets are also being implemented in schools throughout the nation. These devices are a pedometer and heart rate monitor all-in-one. Children are being encouraged to wear these at school, and even in some instances, at home as well.

The second method of collection is through data mining hidden in the assessments.

While reading through the National Assessment of Educational Progress's Fourth Grade Mathematics and Reading Assessment Sample Booklet, I found that it contained queries that were more fitting for a census questionnaire rather than a fourth grade assessment.

“In this section, please tell us about yourself and your family.

1. Which of the following best describes you? Fill in one or more ovals.

White, Black or African American, Asian, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.

2. Do you have the following in your home? Fill in ovals for all that apply:

Access to the Internet, Clothes dryer just for your family, Dishwasher, More than one bathroom, Your own bedroom.

3. How often do people in your home talk to each other in a language other than English?

Never, once in a while, about half the time, all or most the time

4. Do the following people live in your home? Fill in ovals for all that apply.

Mother, stepmother, foster mother or other female legal guardian, father, stepfather, foster father or other male legal guardian.”

What bearing on our children's knowledge of Mathematics and Reading does their ethnicity, appliance ownership status, and family dynamic have?

An adult would have the right to not answer these invasive and pointless questions. A child doesn't know they can decline. It is part of the test. Are they not taught to answer all of the questions on the test?

Why do we need all of this data collected on our children in order to determine the effectiveness of a curriculum or standards?

The US government seeks to put children on a career path that is chosen by their aptitude in academic areas. This is a career path that they will implement by middle school. This career path does not take into account the desires of the child. It is only concerned with the needs of the collective society. Instead of asking our children “What do you want to be when you grow up?” we will be asking them “What does your career aptitude assessment say you will be?”

The end purpose is to be able to inventory and monitor the human capital, our children. Major corporations have invested a lot of money in education and they are expecting a return on that investment. For every $1 invested a business can expect to gain a $7 return on that initial investment in American education. Not only are they expecting a monetary dividend, but they are also counting on a guaranteed future workforce specifically trained to meet their corporate needs.

Our children are more than a guaranteed future workforce. They have hopes, dreams and desires that they should be allowed to fulfill without the government dictating to them what they can or cannot do.

Edited for clarity!

What these "education" people are doing is setting up a science lab basically to study what works and what doesn't on kids. Then once the "data" is sorted through, it's off to the highest bidder among marketers.

Now that is a bunch of bull. They are inflating the prospects to play on people's greed. They claim that kind of return on investment, when nearly 50 percent of high school kids are failing? That math don't add up.

Ultimately, this is definitely about monitoring and compliance control of the public. Get 'em on the list while they are young and don't know any different, and fill them with all kinds of socialist propaganda at school where the parents can't see what's really going on.

It's been joked that the public education system is nothing but a government indoctrination system. With stuff like this going on and being proposed, how can anybody not see it's true that the government really is intentionally teaching kids how the government wants kids to think and act?

And yes, on the surface, it is being driven by the love of money of those corporate wolves just drooling to get their paws on all those potential customers, I mean students. Below the surface, beyond the desire for monetary gain is the fact that evil is behind it all. Parents are sending their kids to be taught and cared for by devils.

The socialist push in the education system is relentless! Parents have no idea what these people are doing to their children.

Common Core lessons blasted for sneaking politics into elementary classrooms

By Perry Chiaramonte
Published November 06, 2013
FoxNews.com

It's exactly what critics of the Common Core school curriculum warned about: Partisan political statements masquerading as English lessons finding their way into elementary school classrooms.

Teaching materials aligned with the controversial national educational standards ask fifth-graders to edit such sentences as “(The president) makes sure the laws of the country are fair,” “The wants of an individual are less important than the well-being of the nation” and “the commands of government officials must be obeyed by all.” The sentences, which appear in worksheets published by New Jersey-based Pearson Education, are presented not only for their substance, but also to teach children how to streamline bulky writing.

“We are doing a terrible disservice to this generation and the next if we only present them with one side of the argument and bombard them with ideas contrary to the American ideal."

- Glyn Wright, Eagle Forum

“Parents should insist on reviewing their children’s school assignments,” said Glyn Wright, executive director of the Eagle Forum, a think tank that opposes implementation of Common Core. “Many parents will be shocked to find that some ‘Common Core-approved’ curriculum is full of inappropriate left-wing notions, disinformation, and fails to teach the truth of American exceptionalism and opportunity.”

The politically charged lesson appears in a worksheet titled “Hold the Flag High,” in which students are taught about Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. The assignment asks students to make examples of sentences; “less wordy by replacing the underlined words with a possessive noun phrase.” They are then presented with a half-dozen sentences describing the job duties of a U.S. president.

CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL WORKSHEET

But if the lessons are meant as a primer on the Constitution, there's another problem, note critics. The job of making sure laws are fair is not the president's, but the judicial branch's. The executive branch's duty is to administer laws. And the example that places the well-being of the nation above the "wants of an individual" appears to run counter to the basic principles of the Bill of Rights.
(and that is exactly what these trolls intend to do, instill principles that run counter to the Constitution.)

“We are doing a terrible disservice to this generation and the next if we only present them with one side of the argument and bombard them with ideas contrary to the American ideal," Wright said. "In doing so, we allow our children to be indoctrinated instead of educated.” (cont.)

Yes, this right there is very, very, very eyepopping to say the least!

Remember once upon a time ago, the NIV put this similar propaganda into Romans 13(saying "submit to the government" - wheras the KJB does NOT even mention the word government).

Anyhow - this CC curriculum reminded me of what the corrupt bible version translators did many years ago.

Ultimately - this is teaching children that abortions and sodomy is OK just as long as the government says so. No wonder why the younger generation have strayed away from their previous generations traditional upbringings.

The NIV(and other bible perversions) teach the same thing!

Common Core Teaches Kids Government Must Be Obeyed
11/15/13

Schools: Opposition is rising to new national education standards pushed on public schools. They have turned schools into re-education camps for liberalism, with political statements masquerading as English lessons.

If one had to include one speech by President Ronald Reagan as recommended reading in a national standardized curriculum it might be the one in which he stood in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

One might pick Reagan's first inaugural address when he said, "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." Or even his 1964 "A Time for Choosing" on behalf of Barry Goldwater that launched him to political prominence.

The speech chosen by Common Core for its English Standards, which recommends "exemplar texts" for reading, including addresses by a host of worthy historical figures — such as Patrick Henry, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt and Martin Luther King — was Reagan's May 1988 speech to students at Moscow University.

It is a fine speech and in it he speaks of the fruits of liberty in the West and of the promise of the "Moscow Spring" but its softer tone does not speak of the "evil empire" that would soon come crashing down.

There is no stirring rhetoric on the evils of tyranny, or of the dangers of big government.

Could it be that recommending a Reagan speech that defines government as the problem rather than the solution might conflict with the subliminal messages in a worksheet that asks students to rewrite sentences to make them "less wordy." Sentences like, "The commands of government officials must be obeyed by all."

The worksheets, published by New Jersey-based Pearson Education, ask fifth-graders to edit such sentences as "(The president) makes sure the laws of the country are fair," and "The wants of an individual are less important than the well-being of the nation."

That last sentence sounds suspiciously like the old Marxist axiom "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs."

The Constitution, the Supreme Court and a system of checks and balances among the three branches of government ensure fairness under of our laws. The Constitution and the laws enacted by Congress are what should protect individuals. The president should see to it that that the laws are faithfully executed.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Initiative was cooked by a group of the nation's governors and backed by the Obama White House in 2009 with the goal of setting a uniform standard for grades K-12 nationwide. Some 45 states, in many cases enticed by federal grants, have signed on. Testing in grades 3-8 and high school is scheduled to begin next year.

Duncan takes heat over description of Common Core foes as 'white suburban moms'

Published November 18, 2013
FoxNews.com

Education Secretary Arne Duncan faced heated criticism Monday for reportedly dismissing foes of so-called Common Core standards as "white suburban moms" who are worried their schools or children don't measure up to the new benchmarks.

Duncan made the comments on Friday in Richmond, Va., discussing academic standards which have become highly controversial at the state level.

"It's fascinating to me that some of the pushback is coming from, sort of, white suburban moms who -- all of a sudden -- their child isn't as brilliant as they thought they were and their school isn't quite as good as they thought they were, and that's pretty scary," Duncan said, according to an account from Politico. "You've bet your house and where you live and everything on, `My child's going to be prepared.' That can be a punch in the gut."

The Education Department said no official transcript of the remarks exists, but did not dispute Politico's account.

Asked about the remarks on Monday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the "broader point" was that "I think we need to be honest about whether we're providing the skills ... our children need to succeed."   (cont.)

Carney gets paid to side step, but that's a classic!

Why would Duncan inject 'race' in Common Core debate?

The leader of America's education system continues to be raked over the coals for his remarks disparaging those who are criticizing the Common Core Standards.

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recently lashed out and trashed opponents of Common Core Standards, labeling those critics as "white suburban moms" who are worried their children don't measure up to the new standards. In her op-ed yesterday, syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin said in making those comments, Duncan revealed himself to be "a bigot, a bully, an elitist, and a foot-in-mouth fool all rolled into one."

Duncan apologized later, describing it as "clumsy phrasing that I regret."

Jane Robbins, a senior fellow with the American Principles Project, says Duncan's outburst is evidence of his growing irritation with growing criticism of the Common Core. She says this comment went beyond demeaning remarks he's made in the past.

"They generally call everybody 'conspiracy theorists' and 'black helicopter people' and all that, but what he's done now is to introduce race and class into it," she laments.

Robbins says parents opposed to what she considers Common Core's "inferior standards" can actually be heartened in spite of the secretary's invectives.

"Intensity is building all over the country," she notes. "We don't have to settle for this – we're Americans, we have freedom in this country, and we don't have to just roll over for what other so-called 'experts' think that our children need."

Yeah, they like to use a lot of buzzwords which will make the opposition stand down - for example, even the so-called "right" does it quite frequently by yelling "liberal media bias!" every time something gets exposed.(ie-when Ronald Reagan's evils get exposed, they will do just that) And believe it or not too, the so-called "right" will yell the same thing when POPE FRANCIS gets called out for his evils(ie-FOX et al have been doing damage control over his recent eyepopping comments).

Yes, I know the MSM pushes liberalism, but just commenting on this particular aspect.

Ultimately, the PC establishment will try to play on your guilt - even the modern-day churches have gotten into this act as well.

http://www.christianpost.com/news/common-core-recommended-reading-condones-****-pedophilia-graphic-sex-103072/
Common Core Recommended Reading Condones ****, Pedophilia, Graphic Sex?
8/27/13

A book on the federal Common Core State Standards Initiative's recommended reading list has sparked outrage among Christian leaders and one community in Colorado for its graphic and non-judgmental portrayal of ****, pedophilia, and incest.

"This book is no different than p0rnography," Monica Cole, director of One Million Moms, an online advocacy arm of the American Family Association, told The Christian Post in a Monday interview. She then linked pornography to human trafficking, ****, sexual violence, and even sexual slavery.

In order to compete for the education funds, states had to agree to adopt the standards even before they knew what the standards would be. All but five states adopted them, and their slow unveiling has caused a great deal of controversy among both conservatives and liberals.

The book in question, The Bluest Eye by Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, appears under "Grade 11-CCR Text Exemplars" on Appendix B of the Common Core website. According to the short summary, it tells how "an eleven-year-old african-american girl in Ohio, in the early 1940s, prays for her eyes to turn blue so that she will be beautiful."

The novel uses explicit, bodily detail in its narration of sexual acts. "When she senses some spasm about to grip him, she will make rapid movements with her hips, press her fingernails into his back, suck in her breath, and pretend she is having an orgasm," runs one episode. Lewd references to body parts abound, even in the case of little girls.

The author reportedly said "she wanted the reader to feel as though they are a 'co-conspirator' with the rapist," so "she took pains to make sure she never portrayed the actions as wrong in order to show how everyone has their own problems." The book narrates cases of ped0philia, ****, and incest which the author described as "friendly," "innocent," and "tender."

Since Common Core is a set of standards, not a curriculum, schools will be able to choose whether or not to suggest the book, but some have argued that even its presence on the recommended list crosses a line. A local petition to remove the book from the Common Core reading list in Broomfield, Colo., has gathered 1,205 signatures.

Cole said she was "speechless," that this book would be on the recommended reading list, and she set an ultimatum. "The material that is sexually graphic, we don't agree with it and it needs to be pulled from the curriculum immediately," she stated firmly.

Cole also condemned the ****'s use of the Lord's name to justify his actions – "I work only through the Lord. He sometimes uses me to help people," the character claims. The director of One Million Moms called this "an extremely sneaky way to involve violence in the school system."

The director asked why books like this one, as opposed to the classics, are recommended to children. She mentioned "millions of books to recommend" as opposed to this one.

Cole stressed that neither One Million Moms nor the American Family Association has yet taken a stand against Common Core in general, but when it comes to The Bluest Eye, she proved more definitive. "Nothing good will come of this," she proclaimed.

While also condemning Common Core's recommendation of the book, Peter Sprigg, senior fellow for policy studies at the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C., took a slightly different view. "This dispute is not about whether the author is skilled as a writer and it's not about whether this is even good literature for adults," but only "whether this graphic sexual subject matter is appropriate for schools," he told CP on Monday.

Sprigg argued that "if it's going to be read by minors at all, it's got to be completely voluntary without the school encouraging it in any way." While kids may end up seeing this sort of material anyway, it is inappropriate for the school itself to expose them to it.

Cases like this, Sprigg explained, inflame the debate over national education standards. While he emphasized that the Family Research Council has not yet taken a stand on the issue, he defended as legitimate the fear that Common Core "will not leave room for community standards to be applied – especially moral community standards."

While Cole argued that Morrison, the book's author, likely used the book to argue for moral relativism, Sprigg gave her the benefit of the doubt. He argued that Morrison might have just wanted the reader to feel empathy for a wrongdoer – not to condone actions like **** and pedophilia.

The Family Research Council scholar said he supports adults being able to read books like this, but he argued stringently against taxpayer dollars being spent to suggest such works to children. "Anything that, if it was depicted on screen, would be rated R or worse, it should not be presented to the students in high school or K-12 education," he argued. Nevertheless, he admitted that it should be a local decision, not something enforced by the state.

Common Core’s Anti-Gun Lessons on Sandy Hook

The pundits may have thought that Barack Obama’s efforts to exploit the Sandy Hook School tragedy on December 14, 2012, where a mentally ill young man killed 20 elementary school students and 6 teachers, had been tabled for lack of support.  Now we learn that Obama’s Organizing for Action super pac is exploiting the one-year anniversary with fake memorials in order to resume the push for gun control.

Along with the efforts to reach adults are those to reach children in schools.  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a major funder of Obama’s education initiative called Common Core (recently admitted to be an “Obama initiative” by David Axelrod) is aiding in the effort to eviscerate the Second Amendment by emotionally manipulating and indoctrinating students.

An Education Week article touts free “anti-violence” lesson plans for students in grades 4-12 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the shooting.  Education Week is full of handy “tips” and “news” for teachers, but is really a Gates Foundation-subsidized Common Core propaganda outlet, as I noted in my report on Common Core for Accuracy in Media.  Education Week articles are frequently linked in the U.S. Department of Education’s newsletter, The Teachers Edition.

The “anti-violence” Common Core-aligned lesson plan that Education Week is promoting could hardly be more propagandistic.  It is written by shooting victim Gabby Giffords, the former Arizona Congresswoman, and Nicole Hockley who lost her son Dylan at Sandy Hook.   It claims the ostensible purpose of “turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation” and “To be open to all possibilities.”  It says students should be “Open to those with the most opposing views.”

But the only views teachers are told to give are those that advance an anti-gun rights agenda.

To prime students emotionally, teachers are asked to show a School Tube video from Roma High School to demonstrate how a student-led vigil can “show how people can come together after tragic events to make the world a better place.”  (No empirical evidence is given about the cause and effect.)

There is very little reading required in the lesson, but what there is a USA Today article by Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly, chiding “special interests,” like the NRA, which they claim is “advancing the interests of an ideological fringe” and “cow[ing] Congress” into refusing to take action on “common sense reforms.”  The other is an article linked to Giffords’s and Kelly’s lobby group called Americans for Responsible Solutions.  (There is an attachment for additional reading from Slate Magazine for “older students” that unscientifically aggregates the number of gun deaths by asking readers to send in news about gun deaths in their towns.)  Teachers are advised to have students read the “Sandy Hook Promise” from the website and discuss “why they feel the promise was created.”

Teachers are told that the first two paragraphs of the promise are “most helpful.”

These are the first two paragraphs:

“Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national, non-profit organization led by community members and several parents and spouses who lost loved ones in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. . . .

Our intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation.”

Teachers are told to have students “brainstorm” on the question, “How can we work together to make the United States a safer place?”

Teachers are offered the suggestion of having students trace their hands on construction paper and then making cut-outs.

On these they should write one-sentence statements, beginning with the words, “I hope.”

As models, photographs of the lesson plan writers’ own construction paper hands are presented: ”I hope for a country that can work together to prevent gun violence,” wrote Gabby Giffords on her hand.  “I hope parents can come together to build a future for our children safe from gun violence,” wrote Nicole Hockley on hers.

Finally,

Show students the other postings on UClass [a “global lesson exchange” for teachers]. Have them comment positively on other students’ hands that have been posted on UClass. Urge them to do at least one thing to make the United States a better place.

Teachers are assured that the lesson plan follows the new Common Core education standards.

For grades 3-8, the “Correlating Common Core Standards” are:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.3.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 3 topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly.

It gets a little more rigorous for high school students:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.11-12.1 Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grades 11–12 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.

In case the difference in these two academic standards is not obvious, students in upper grades are asked to “create a plan for their own anti-violence campaign” (words in bold in original). In other words, high school students should become activists.

The promoters of Common Core have repeated sales points about “high standards,” “rigor,” “close reading,” and including “critical thinking.”  Really?  Do you remember tracing your hand on construction paper in high school?

The lesson on Sandy Hook is typical of those now being produced and advertised as meeting Common Core requirements.

Of course, we know that many teachers have been using classrooms to indoctrinate students for decades now.  What is different under Common Core is that the lessons are even more ideological.  They profit the multinational publishing companies as they rewrite materials to adhere to Common Core.  And they advance the agendas of left-wing non-profits and the federal government.

The construction paper hands being produced in grades 4 through 12 to commemorate Sandy Hook show how Obama’s Common Core initiative is working (pardon the pun) hand in glove with his political pac.

Common Core Lesson Teaches Children Obama Is A Messiah

Propaganda: A lesson plan for third-graders linked to a controversial federal education initiative makes sure America's next generation does not forget who is the one we have been waiting for.

During the Soul Train Awards in 2012, comedian and actor Jamie Foxx exhorted a wildly cheering crowd to "first of all (give) honor to god, and our lord and savior Barack Obama," exhibiting the all-too-widespread hero worship that casts rational thought aside and labels even legitimate criticism as virtual blasphemy.

The same cult of personality is creeping into lesson plans and reading materials being created under the guise of the platform for nationalized education known as Common Core. One new lesson teaches our children that Obama is indeed the messiah.

A language-arts lesson plan for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders has been developed around the book "Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope," in which the author, Nikki Grimes, paints the 44th president as nothing short of a messianic figure. The description of the associated lesson plan by Sherece Bennett boasts that it is officially "aligned" with the Common Core State Standards Initiative, an attempt to standardize various K-12 curricula around the country that has drawn national opposition.

Like the faux Obama autobiography, "Dreams Of My Father," which we now know was likely written by Bill Ayers, convicted terrorist and champion of using education as a socialist social-engineering tool, this book designed for kids paints an airbrushed and quite fawning picture of the former Barry Soetoro.

"Before dawn each morning," the book says, "Barry rose — his mother's voice driving him from dream land. 'Time for learning English grammar and the Golden Rule. Be honest, be kind, be fair,' she taught him." It does not speak of who taught him the use of the teleprompter to lie about Benghazi, Fast and Furious, and ObamaCare, which has thrown stage-four cancer patients off their insurance.

The book notes Obama's struggle with his identity and uses it to slip in a biblical reference, one that would violate the left's definition of the separation of church and state. Late in the book, Obama dramatically changes his name from Barry to Barack.

"One morning, he slipped on the name he'd been born with. The name of his father, Barack. For the first time in his life, he wore it proudly — like a coat of many colors," the story goes, an obvious reference to Genesis 37:3, in which Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, receives a "coat of many colors."

Name game: Amid opposition, states change title of Common Core

It might take more than a name change to quell parental anger at Common Core, the controversial national education standards adopted by all but four states.

With angry parents protesting the standards, and curriculum they say is tailored to it by writers of textbooks and lesson plans, several states have decided the solution is all in the name. Common Core is now referred to as “The Iowa Core” in the Hawkeye State. Florida calls it the tongue-twisting “Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.” Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer recently signed an executive order to erase the name “Common Core” for their new math and reading standards and Louisiana lawmakers are mulling a name change as well.

But critics say what states really need to do is scrap the Common Core Standards Initiative altogether.

“Even under a different name, the Common Core Standards are still mediocre, at best, and continue to put American students at a significant disadvantage to their international peers,” Glyn Wright, executive director of the Eagle Forum, told FoxNews.com.

A total of 46 states and Washington, DC have adopted all or part of the Common Core standard, which in most cases officially goes into effect at the start of the next academic year. The standards are designed to ensure that students from all over the nation graduate with a baseline of math and language skills. But critics say the program, proposed by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers in 2009, takes away local control of education. And they say lessons and textbooks sold as being "aligned with Common Core" are rife with left-wing social and political messages.

Even leaders in states that signed on are turning on the program, with lawmakers proposing to repeal participation and governors actively bashing it.

“We don’t ever want to educate South Carolina children like they educate California children," South Carolina Republican Gov. Nikki Haley spoke out against Common Core at a recent Republican function. We want to educate South Carolina children on South Carolina standards, not anyone else’s standards.”

Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott told state GOP officials that the new name means a different emphasis.

“Here’s what we’re going to ensure: These are Florida standards," Scott said. "They’re not some national standards; they’re going to be Florida standards. This is our state. We’re not going to have the federal government telling us how to do our education system.”

But many top Republicans, including Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee, support Common Core. They say a name-change is necessary.

Huckabee, a Fox News commentator and the former governor of Arkansas, said at a recent meeting of the Council of Chief State School Officers, which helped draft the standards, that state education leaders should be urged to ditch the “Common Core” name, because it had become “toxic.”

“Rebrand it, refocus it, but don’t retreat,”
Huckabee said.

Branding expert Rob Frankel told FoxNews.com that changing the name could change perceptions about the program.

Entities will often change a name to make it more appealing because they know that the public doesn’t read beyond the headlines,” Frankel said to FoxNews.com. “These programs are often given better sounding names.”

“If you don’t find that the public is responding well, you just change the name until it’s accepted,” he added.

But Wright isn't buying the program, no matter what it is called.

“Rebranding the Common Core does not change the fact that it is still a top-down, federally controlled approach to education that is untested and unproven,” Wright said. “We know that Americans will not be fooled by dressing-up this failed initiative.”

That's a controlled opposition statement. His beef is that it's "untested and unproven", but apparently has no issue with it's blatant socialist agenda.

He is correct though that many people don't read beyond a headline, or listen beyond a commercial sound bite, so for awhile a name change would have an affect.

But once in practice, it's still the same poison, regardless of the bottle it's in.

What's so shady about this stuff is that we have a national organization involved with educating children that is basically refusing to listen to parents by forcing an agenda on them that they don't want. The state's solution? Change the name of the agenda!

It doesn't matter anymore if the public complains, they'll be forced to do it anyway by a state that is totally ignoring what the public wants and doesn't want.

The fix is in.

The Sneaky Tactic Some States Are Using Now That Parents Are Standing Up Against Common Core

As fed-up parents across the nation voice their staunch opposition to federal Common Core standards, several states are trying a new approach to appease them… by just changing the name in a “rebranding” effort.

In Iowa, Common Core is now referred to as “The Iowa Core” and as “Next Generation Sunshine State Standards” in Florida. Further, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed an executive order recently to scrub the “Common Core” name from their math and reading standards. Louisiana is also reportedly considering a name change.

Glyn Wright, executive director of the Eagle Forum, told FoxNews.com that the name isn’t the problem.

“Even under a different name, the Common Core Standards are still mediocre, at best, and continue to put American students at a significant disadvantage to their international peers,” Wright said.

There are only four states in the U.S. that haven’t adopted at least some Common Core standards.

Critics argue that Common Core, which was never voted on by Congress, promotes a one-size-fits-all approach to education and takes away control from teachers and local school systems. There have also been problems with Common Core “aligned” lessons and textbooks including liberal and progressive political messages.

Some Republicans, including Jeb Bush and Mike Huckabee, have been longtime supporters of Common Core. Both agree that the name change is necessary because the term Common Core has become “toxic.”

“Rebrand it, refocus it, but don’t retreat,” Huckabee said at a recent meeting of the Council of Chief State School Officers.

Wright had this to say of the tactic: “Rebranding the Common Core does not change the fact that it is still a top-down, federally controlled approach to education that is untested and unproven. We know that Americans will not be fooled by dressing-up this failed initiative.”

The backlash gains ground! Now Alabama is trying to repeal Common Core. Good for them!

Now read the rhetoric by the CC fans...

Alabama bill would repeal Common Core curriculum standards

Published February 22, 2014
Associated Press

MONTGOMERY, Ala. –  A state legislator is seeking a Senate floor showdown on his proposal to repeal the Common Core curriculum standards, an issue that has divided the state's Republicans and sparked passionate debate over what the standards mean for Alabama classrooms.

Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale, filed a bill Thursday that would repeal the standards until at least Jan. 1, 2017. Beason obtained 14 co-sponsors for his legislation, which he said shows the bill at least deserves debate in the 35-member Senate.

"Common Core is an unproven, untested education experiment. If Common Core turns out to be the great educational panacea, then in 2017 the state school board can adopt it. I'm convinced by that time Common Core will be falling apart all over the country," Beason said.

Alabama is one of 45 states to adopt the standards that were developed by the National Governors' Association and tied to federal Race to the Top grants by the Obama administration. Repeal has become a rallying cry from state tea party groups and some conservatives who call it the nationalization of public education. Business associations and state education groups have embraced the standards saying they will boost Alabama student performance.

Alabama School Superintendent Tommy Bice urged legislators to reject the repeal effort.

"There's no indoctrination. There is no conspiracy. We are teaching math. We are teaching kids to read and write," Bice said
.

Now that is an outright lie! Common Core materials is nothing but indoctrination, designed behind closed doors by socialist "educators".

"It just doesn't make any sense for something that is simply a political issue. It has nothing to do with academics," Bice said.

Sally Howell, executive director of the Alabama Association of School Boards, said repeal would be like going back to a "bag phone from an iPhone."

"This legislation is politics at its worst. It is bad for students. It is a power grab by the state Legislature, and it is wasteful. By dictating what is taught in our classrooms, the Legislature would waste hundreds of thousands of hours spent implementing higher standards and would cause school systems to trash classroom materials based on these world-class standards and replace them with old, outdated materials," Howell said.

WOW! He really believes that? No wonder the school system is a socialist-driven disaster.

Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, R-Anniston, said while he will continue to study the debate over Common Core, his position remains that a repeal bill will not hit the Senate floor.

Marsh noted Beason's bill had the signatures of 15 senators, which he said didn't show a mandate in the 35-member Senate.

The battle over Common Core is taking place with an election-year backdrop, as Republicans face primary opponents in June.

Beason, who is running for Congress, said some legislators want to avoid a vote.

"I think there are legislators in both houses that are solidly committed to both sides," Beason said.

Nathan Deal’s Common Core Push in Georgia

Dear parents, teachers, preachers and voters – we need your help to stop the GOP led Common Core (CC) march into Georgia!

Friends, we must STOP this CC bill in the Georgia House. House education hearings will begin next week after the GOP led Senate passes SB 167 this week.

As Georgia Senator William Ligon admits, his bill DOES NOT give Georgia anything resembling a CLEAN BREAK from the Common Core standards but, it instead gives all local school districts the authority to choose to continue using CC math and/or English and Language Arts (ELA) standards or return to using the previous Georgia Performance Standards (GPS).  Local school boards can choose to do this starting with the 2014-15 school year.

While I SUPPORT the goal of local control, I am very afraid that giving local control in this manner, given that many districts have already invested millions in Common Core materials, will only accelerate the integration of CC throughout our state. While state officials maintain authority over the development of statewide testing and standards to be developed/implemented during the next two to three years, currently proposed legislation WILL cause mass chaos, confusion, and division as school boards across our state engage in the difficult process of trying to please everyone in their school district.

Informed parents want to COMPLETELY REMOVE Common Core from their schools! Experienced teachers know CC is wrong. Only a very small minority of school board members, at this point, are siding with the clear wishes of parents.

Who wants to KEEP Common Core? According to Rep. Brooks Coleman, during the statewide listening tours, 100% of our district school superintendents raised their hands, indicating that they like Common Core. Also, according to Brooks Coleman, the majority of school board members across the state also like the CC testing standards. The local and state Chamber of Commerce is demanding adoption of CC standards. And our younger teachers who ONLY know how to teach curriculum that aligns with Common Core because this is what our universities have been teaching them.

WITHOUT A STATE LAW THAT REQUIRES ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO STOP TEACHING THE COMMON CORE, I believe very few school boards will choose to do so…. at least not by the start of this coming school year. Therefore, any #GOP legislation that gives our school boards a “green light” to race forward with Common Core, is a bill that is de-facto, pro Common Core.

Additionally, without STATE LAW preventing any alignment to Common Core, our public universities will continue to teach our teachers the “global citizen” vs. “American individual” ideology imbedded throughout these UN inspired CC standards.

As I see it, these are the challenges of making the change that school districts will face:

What kind of teacher retraining will have to be done, yet AGAIN?

Do they have textbooks to use if they switch back this summer?

How long will it take to get textbooks and teaching materials?

Will they be teaching enough content for their students to pass the state developed criterion reference tests?

Will there be CRTs developed by the state that align to a NON-Common Core curriculum?

What about their school performance rates based on the scores of their students taking the CRTs?

Do they have to be concerned about accreditation if they make the wrong decision?

Do they need to worry about scoring low and face the “turn around” model laid out in the Race to the Top federal grant funding agreement?

Is it logical to think that a local school district will go through all the work required to make this 180 degree turn, away from Common Core, before the start of the 2014-15 school year WITHOUT a state mandate?

I’m afraid this bill is going to be a HUGE MESS when parents realize that their local school boards won’t be willing to jump the Common Core ship right away.

Governor #NathanDeal could, with one simple signature, protect every child in our state by eliminating Georgia from our Common Core relationship. He has the executive authority to do this, yet he refuses.

Yes, I stand for complete local school control, but this current bill doesn’t go far enough, quickly enough, and guarantees a chaotic curriculum adoption process and wide spread anxiety across our state. This bill, as written, is a betrayal to all the grass roots activists that worked tirelessly to rid Common Core from our state.

When all the anti-Common Core parents realize this truth…. there will be a few more who make the decision to #homeschool or send their children to a #privateschool. As a result, our state’s schools will see an even greater loss of federal dollars and our local school districts will see even more schools closing. THIS IS THE BEST CASE SCENARIO.

The WORST CASE SCENARIO? Many schools will fail, parents will cry even louder for #charterschools (not realizing that the state charter schools REQUIRE the Common Core curriculum), our state will get federal dollars (already budgeted in the #ESEA) to shut down “failing schools” run by a local school board, then re-established as state-run charter schools run by UNELECTED and UNACCOUNTABLE school board councils using our tax dollars.

I would have preferred the original anti-Common Core bill filed last year with a clean break from teaching CC anywhere in our state. NO GRAY AREA! And, I think this is what informed parents have wanted all along.

WHO WILL BENEFIT THE MOST FROM THE PASSAGE OF THIS CURRENT BILL? Governor Nathan Deal! This will be one of his MAJOR talking point on the campaign trail between now and his May primary. Voters who haven’t read the bill, or know little about Common Core, won’t realize that neither his campaign rhetoric, nor this new legislation, will end Common Core in our state.

The exact opposite will occur.

Are your neighbors, PTAs, communities and churches awake yet? Please fight this GOP led effort to bring a permanent Common Core presence into our schools. Time is of the essence.  Please share this information with all you can.
Common Core

For more detailed information on why Georgia’s proposed Common Core legislation is terrible for students, please watch Dr. Mary Kay Bacallao’s EXCEPTIONAL 6 minute video that precisely analyzes this terrible legislation.

You Won’t Believe The Method That Common Core Is Using To Teach Our Kids Subtraction

The dumbing down of America is accelerating.  A massive federal takeover of education known as “Common Core” is attempting to impose nationwide academic standards on public schools throughout the entire country.  Thanks to the backing of billionaire Bill Gates, endless promotion by the U.S. Department of Education, and financial bribes to state governments by the Obama administration, 45 states and Washington, D.C. have already agreed to implement the full Common Core standards in their schools.  Unfortunately, these “standards” are doing to public education what Obamacare is doing to our health care system – absolutely ruining it.  Just look at how basic math instruction has changed.  Posted below is a comparison between the “old method” of subtraction and the “new method” of subtraction being taught in many of our schools.  When I first came across this on Facebook, I thought that it was a joke…

I thought that there was no possible way that this could be real.  I really thought that this must have come from some sort of parody website.

But it is actually true.

Here is another example of this.  The following is an incredibly bizarre Common Core math problem and the response by one very frustrated parent that has gone viral all over the Internet recently…

When I first saw this just now - my impression was that they're trying to indoctrinate these children into esoteric/Freemasonic mindsets.

Pt being that this is what the Freemasons, Gnostics, etc do - part of their esoteric mindsets is that they OBSESS on numerology like this.

Police Confront Parents for Opting Kids Out of Common Core

Last week in Marietta, Georgia parents were shocked when they were confronted by police as they walked on to their child’s school campus for a meeting with the principal. Why would police force be needed in a meeting with a pair of concerned parents? According to the police officer it was because “they were considered to be “potentially trespassing” on school property because they were in opposition to the normal school process.” The process they were opposed to was Common Core testing.

Even in a red state like Georgia, parents can’t get away from the far reaching grasp of the federal government and their education standards.

Tracy and Mary Finney, whose children attend West Side Elementary School, have decided to opt their children out of the state mandated testing. The test has been given in Georgia for years and is called the CRCT. This year is the last year the test will be given, but many parents don’t believe it’s a fair measure of what their child has learned because the state has aligned to the Common Core, and the test was not written with the Common Core in mind. It is with those thoughts in mind that the Finney’s chose to opt their children out of testing – and that should have been the end of it. But of course, it wasn’t….

“On Monday morning, we wrote a letter to our principal, forwarded to the other district administrators and teachers,” he continued. “We said that we refuse to allow our kids to take this test, and that we wanted them to be provided with other things to do during the test period, so that they were not going to ‘sit and stare.'”

Finney said, however, that he received an email from the assistant superintendent of the district, “telling me he reviewed my letter and that I’m not allowed to opt my children out or refuse testing.” …

Meg Norris, an organizer of United Opt-Out Georgia, told Breitbart News she is “shocked” at how the mandates to test children are being enforced in Georgia.

“It’s happening in schools all over Georgia,” Norris said. “Even children who are autistic must be tested.”

“Because of federal mandates, they are putting children through this,” she continued. “One child missed the first day of testing and the entire class was refused ice cream, leading to that child being bullied by his classmates.”

Norris, a former teacher, said she taught the Common Core standards for 18 months and could see what it was doing to her students. She added that Common Core has become a major issue in the elections this year.

“I just won’t vote for any politician who supports the Common Core standards,” she said.

Folks, it’s time that we all start seeing the Common Core (also No Child Left Behind and every other federally mandated education initiative) for what it is… a power grab by the federal government. Any federal plan for education takes power from the states and places it in the hands of politicians and lobbyists in Washington, D.C. While having our children’s education run from state capitals, like Atlanta, may not be much better, the accountability can be much greater. When the power does not lie in the hands of the federal government, it is much more likely to be found in the hands of parents and local schools and districts.

We must fight the Common Core because it is the continuation of failed liberal policies that have been steadily weakening American education since the Soviets launched Sputnik. The progressive bent of American education has seen our students drop from the best in the world to middle of the pack and in comparison to other industrialized nations – we are raising a nation of dunces. The fault for this lies with the way the government has involved itself in our lives – but at the end of the day it is the American voter (and parents) who have let this happen. It’s time to end the era of government raising our children. Rise Up parents, take back our kids futures.

Even the local schools and districts are just as corrupt - for example, Freemasons have infiltrated those areas too.

Florida Lawmaker Warns Common Core Will Turn Children 'Homosexual'

Over the past few months, the new U.S. education standard known as the "Common Core" has attracted its fair share of negative attention by opponents.

But Florida Republican State Rep. Charles Van Zant took the Common Core critique to a new level by claiming that the educational initiative promoted by the Obama administration will turn your children "homosexual."

Van Zant made the comments at an Orlando education conference back in March, but the video of his remarks went viral on Tuesday. Van Zant told his audience that the American Institutes for Research (AIR), that implements the Common Core in Florida, "will promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can."

"Please go on their website, click the link to what they're doing with youth and you will see what their agenda really is," Van Zant implored his audience. "They are promoting as hard as they can any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda."

Van Zant added, "I'm sorry to report that to you, but you need to know."

Van Zant is hardly the only vocal critic of the education initiative. Conservative radio host Glenn Beck recently called the Common Core "evil" and equated the standards with "slavery", saying that "if you can no longer critically think, then they can do whatever they want. I mean, this is slavery, they are breeding an entire new generation of slaves."
