In this short clip with New-Age nut job Oprah, just how mant times did he have to share the truth in Jesus's name? The only conclussion you can draw here is that Joel hates the name of Jesus and the truth of the Bible.

Pastor Joel Osteen reaches millions through his sermons, and he tries to preach in a more positive way than some of his notable contemporaries. But because he doesn't focus on sin in his sermons doesn't mean that he doesn't believe in it. He clarified his stance on sin and homosexuality on "Oprah's Next Chapter" (Sun., 9 p.m. EST on OWN).

"Sometimes we look at gay being a bigger sin than being proud or not telling the truth," Osteen said. "I don't think God categorizes sins." While he sounded almost reluctant to come out and say it directly to Oprah Winfrey, Osteen did confirm that he sees homosexualty as a sin, based on what he's read in scripture. But his point is, that it isn't necessarily a bigger sin than so many others, and therefore perhaps it shouldn't be emphasized and sensationalized as such.

He also said that he believes homosexuals can get into Heaven, just as other people with sin in them can. Forgiveness is a big part, but "To think that we're all going to be without one sin?" Osteen mused. "I hope that's true, but I don't think any of us would make it to Heaven.

Amazing how many times he had in this short discourse to proclaim the good news and promote Jesus! Yet each time he doesnt.

Joel Osteen, pastor of America's fastest growing megachurch, has reiterated his opinion that GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is a “believer in Christ like me” and that the former Massachusetts governor's confession of Jesus as the Son of God is “enough” for him.  Osteen, senior pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, told CBS’ Charlie Rose Monday morning, “What I see about Gov. Romney is that he says ‘I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He’s raised from the dead and he’s my savior.’ I see him as being a believer in Christ like me.”  And “that’s enough for you?” Rose questioned. “That’s enough for me,” Osteen stated. “There’s differences in all religion. I realize that Mormonism is different from Christianity, but you know what he’s a man of faith and values. And to me that’s strong.” Evangelical pastor Robert Jeffress made headlines in October for his “Mormonism is a cult” statements during a political event.  Jeffress said that Mormonism is not in line with the historical tenets of Christianity and is considered a cult among mainstream Christians.

Not trying to defend Osteen, but it seems like modern day Churchianity has lost their discernment over this issue as well.

2 years ago I commented to someone that Mormons believe Jesus and Lucifer were brothers, and he thought I was crazy and had no time on my hands.

It just seems like with all the "influential" evangelicals that are getting the limelight today, I hate to say it, but you can't help thinking that they're where they are b/c they happen to represent the same beliefs the modern-day church shares with them.

100 years ago, Billy Graham wouldn't have been the least bit tolerated in ANY church. Now? They're like, "Well, he speaks decent doctrine, and the gospel is getting out, so maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt for the gaffes here and there he makes". And for that matter too, someone commented to me recently that Joel Osteen's money ends up channelling out to good ministries b/c it's God's will that bad people's money gets into the hands of good people. *sigh* Whatever...

At the Night of Hope event, however, Osteen talked on some serious issues in his first ever sermon at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu.

"I think, for years, people have been pushed down by religion, and I don't say that disrespectfully, but they've been shown a God that you can't measure up to," the Texas pastor told the crowd, according to the Hawaii News Now.

"And so, my goal is to make God good and let them know, hey, I tell them all the time, God's smiling down on you right now. You're his child. He's got a great plan for your life. You can overcome mistakes, and to me, that draws people TO God," he continued, adding as the crowd cheered: "You are victors, not victims!"

Osteen also addressed some of his statements that homosexuality is a sin and accusations that his sermons only focus on receiving prosperity from God – which some critics interpret to mean money. The Lakewood Church pastor, and bestselling author, has been identified as one of America's wealthiest pastors.

Joel Osteen to Produce Movie About Mary

Megachurch pastor and best-selling author Joel Osteen will produce his first movie, considered the biblical prequel to the story of The Passion of The Christ.

That is a movie whose story comes from the catholic mystic Anna Katharina Emmerick

Israeli actress Odeya Rush will play the role of Mary in Mary, Mother of Christ, which Lionsgate will distribute in North America next year, Variety reported.

"Mary is portrayed as a brave, faithful young woman who readily embraces her divine destiny regardless of the sacrifices and hardships she must endure," said Osteen, whose best-selling books include Your Best Life Now and Every Day a Friday.

Rush joins actors Julia Ormond and Peter O'Toole in the movie, to be directed by Alister Grierson. The original screenplay for Mary, Mother of Christ was written by Benedict Fitzgerald (The Passion of The Christ) and Barbara Nicolosi, Variety said. Mary, Mother of Christ is produced by Mary Aloe of Aloe Entertainment and Shawn Williamson of Bright Light Pictures.

Besides Osteen, Mike Dolan and Ben Barton of Smithfield Street Productions, Alan Weinberger of the ASCII Group, the Samaritan Group and philanthropists Frank Carlucci (former U.S. Secretary of Defense), Mike Connell, Robert Gottlieb, Mike Nead and Herb Lande will also serve as executive producers, Variety reported.

Filming is scheduled to begin this summer in the Middle East.

Eh...it's not like it happened overnight...the seeds have been planted for some 20-30 years now(since Reagan was President), and remember the MSM in the 90's reporting stories over openly gay HS teens. It's pretty much that the final nail in the coffin is being put in now since Obama became President.

Even worse, the MSM was playing alot of the Hegelian Dialectic - in one corner, you had Franklin Graham(yes, 33rd Mason Billy's son) "defending the faith", and in the other corner, you had a Catholic priest being VERY offended over those bloody scenes of Jesus getting crucified. And the debates just went on and on and on.

Personally, I saw it b/c everyone else in Churchianity circles recommended it.

Watch and see if the Protestants and Pentecostals turn out in big numbers to see the film.

They also turned out in big numbers for the "Narnia" movies, despite all the witchcraft in it. And throw in the "Lord of the Rings" movies as well that they tried to paint as "christian"(despite its occult ties).

Have you read Gail Ripplinger's "New Age Bible Versions"?

Believe it or not, the seeds for the "prosperity gospel" were planted with Wescott and Hort, which itself has ties to the occult/New Age. So pretty much hate to say it, Osteen pretty much represents alot of these 501c3 pastors who use the NIV and other perverted bible versions. So ultimately, what Osteen is doing is nothing new(he just happens to get alot of publicity the other 501c3 hireling pastors don't).

Alot of these "discernment ministries" want to make you believe otherwise.

Evangelical Christian pastor Joel Osteen attempted to defend his views on homosexuality in a televised interview Thursday, saying that he believes homosexuality is a sin and not "God's best." Osteen is known for focusing his sermons, books and everyday messages on personal empowerment and success. The description on Joel Osteen Ministries' Twitter profile says it provides "Daily inspiration to help you live the life of victory and abundance that God intended for you," and the ministry's Facebook page declares likewise. But its upbeat messages aren't a hit with everyone.

The Texas megachurch preacher is often criticized by some in the Christian community for teaching a Gospel message void of sin and suffering.

When asked last year by The Christian Post for his response to accusations that his teaching of the Gospel is purely health and wealth, or prosperity, Osteen shared his definition of "prosperity" but also emphasized his belief that the Bible teaches that God rewards obedience.

"The way I define it is that I believe God wants you to prosper in your health, in your family, in your relationships, in your business, and in your career. So I do … if that is the prosperity Gospel, then I do believe that," he said.

Those very messages are what seem to resonate with the multitudes that consistently tune into Osteen's Internet and television broadcasts, purchase his many books and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

Among Joel Osteen Ministries' Twitter fan base are pop stars, Hollywood A-listers, politicians, athletes and fellow Christian ministers who retweet the ministry's many bite-sized tweets, such as:

"Don't allow negative people to steal your joy. When you lose your joy, you lose your strength" – retweeted more than 8,000 times with responses like "true," "yes," and "love it."

"God is fighting your battles, arranging things in your favor, making a way even when you don't see a way" – retweeted by more than 7,000 Twitter users.

Social media analytics service Track Social revealed last year that among the top 10 most daily re-tweeted brands on Twitter, Osteen's ministry ranked third, managing to outshine brands like the Miami Heat and CNN. Joyce Meyer Ministries emerged as the most re-tweeted, or interactive brand, on Twitter.

Similar messages on Facebook, such as "Don't go around thinking about who hurt you. If God is for you, who can be against you," are shared even more frequently, with this specific message shared by nearly 30,000 Facebook users.

The frequent interaction with Joel Osteen Ministries' social media presence "tells us the messages are resonating with people, and more importantly being shared with others," according to Davis.

In addition to the supporters of Joel Osteen Ministries are dozens of detractors who have launched fake social media accounts parodying Osteen's feel-good messages, which is a common occurrence on social networks. While organizations like Twitter employ a verification service to check the legitimacy of certain identities, essentially anyone can log on and pretend to be someone else.

Another drawback for organizations attempting to harness the social media platform is often the wasted time and resources invested into platforms that are here one day and gone the next, which Davis admits is a challenge. But despite the hurdles, the media relations director says it is exciting the way social media can be leveraged to move the Good News forward.

"There are challenges at times with the length of characters, the open environment, and technology flaws," Davis admitted to CP. "But we are living in an exciting time where the Gospel can be shared around the world in a split second. The benefits far outweigh the challenges."

Osteen, who takes his "America's Night of Hope" event to various U.S. cities throughout the year, continues to look for new ways to implement social media. With the "America's Night of Hope" stop in Miami scheduled for April 20, Davis said the ministry plans to use social networks to engage the 150,000 people who are expected to watch online and log into chat rooms to interact during the evangelism and worship event."

Joel Osteen resigns, cites ‘lack of faith’, leaves Christianity

Houston, Texas – CNN.com – April 2, 2013 – In a shocking and surprising development, megachurch pastor Joel Osteen has announced he is resigning from his post and leaving the Christian faith.

In a statement released on his website (http://www.joelostenministries.com), which appeared stripped down and bare, he said he has been questioning the faith for a long time. “I believe now that the Bible is a fallible, flawed, highly inconsistent history book that has been altered hundreds of times. There is zero evidence the Bible is the holy word of God,” said Osten.

The reaction across the Christian world ranged from shock to grief to anger. “I can’t believe it,” said Jolene McCormack, of Austin, Texas, “he’s the last person I would expect to defect to atheism.”

Some of his parishioners at his Lakewood, Texas area megachurch expressed anger. “We’ve given him so much, and now he’s leaving us?” said Jim Burger, 65, a ten-year member of the church. “We won’t stand for it.”

In recent months, Osteen had demonstrated a willingness to deviate from Christian doctrine, often peppering his sermons with “New Age” references and at one point calling himself “God”.

The incident occurred in February and created a local uproar. Halfway through his morning Sunday service he dropped to his knees and began crying, and then announced, “I am God! I am just as much a God as our Lord is!” The 10,000 members in attendance appeared stunned. Osteen later released an apology, and blamed the outburst on a lack of sleep due to his busy travel schedule.

With Osten’s departure, the church is left with a gaping hole in its leadership. Mack Holdings III, the associate head pastor, will take over in operation and sermon duties for the time being. A press release prepared by the church claimed Osteen is experiencing a “mental breakdown” and seemed to suggest they are unwilling to accept his resignation. “We won’t put up with this,” a congregation leader said off the record. “This guy’s made millions off of us, we’re not going to let him just take our money. We know his net worth is in upwards of $50 million.”

In the church parking lot on Sunday, a crowd gathered to hold a prayer vigil. “We’ll pray for him. He’s come under the influence of the Devil,” said Margaret Samson, a twelve-year member of the church. “We will go on. But we need him. We can’t do this without him.”

What they don't know is that deep down in my heart, for a number of years now, I have been questioning the faith, Christianity and whether Jesus Christ is really my, or anyone's, 'savior'.

I am now at the point that I am comfortable enough in what I believe that I am ready to announce to the world that I am no longer a Christian. I am no longer a believer in Christ. I no longer believe the Bible is the word of God.

I believe now that the Bible is a fallible, flawed, highly inconsistent history book that has been altered hundreds of times. There is zero evidence the Bible is the holy word of God. In fact, there is zero evidence "God" even exists. I believe I am more like God than the God of the Bible, a fictional character. 

Today, I informed my closest colleagues of my decision to leave the church. Our ministry will continue in a bare-bones fashion as we liquidate our assets and fulfill various financial obligations.

It may be a little late for an April Fools' Day joke but that didn't stop some on the Internet from pulling off an elaborate hoax targeting televangelist Joel Osteen, which included telling his many followers that he was denouncing the Christian faith.

On Monday, a website posing as Osteen's official webpage unveiled a "special announcement," claiming the pastor of the Lakewood Church in Texas was leaving the Christian faith and bashed the Bible for being a "fallible, flawed, highly inconsistent history book."

Osteen spoke with ABC News overnight and said he found the entire hoax mildly amusing.

"You know, I'm really not angry. I don't feel like a victim," Osteen said. "I feel too blessed, that life is too short to let things like this get you down."

The fake website also rolled out a video complete with a screen grab of CNN's website with the headline. "Pastor of mega church resigns, rejects Christ." A Drudge headline proclaimed, "Osteen: I am no longer a Christian."

The bogus site featured a letter title "I am leaving the Christian faith."

"I believe now that the Bible is a fallible, flawed, highly inconsistent history book that has been altered hundreds of times. There is zero evidence the Bible is the holy word of God. In fact, there is zero evidence 'God' even exists," Osteen was falsely quoted saying in the letter.

There was an accompanying Twitter account that has now been suspended.

True to form, Osteen is turning the other cheek and spinning this bit of adversity as part of his core message.

"You can't stop everything from happening, but you can choose to say, 'God, it's in your hands'. I'm going to move forward. I'm going stay full of joy and I'm going enjoy this day," Osteen told ABC News.

While the leader of the 45,000 member church is adopting a forgiving attitude, he did not rule out taking some sort of legal action.

The website's domain was registered to a group called BMG Enterprises in Milwaukee and it went live on April Fools' Day. It appears that information was also fake.

BMG did not return ABC News' request for comment.

Joel Osteen: God ‘Absolutely’ Accepts Homosexuals

In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, megachurch speaker and author Joel Osteen advised that he believes God accepts homosexuals, and that he doesn’t want to “tell everybody what they’re doing wrong.”

Osteen sat down this week with host Josh Zepps to promote his new book Break Out: 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life. The two discussed a variety of issues, from Pope Francis to fighting poverty to whether unbelievers can go to Heaven.

“You say here… ‘It doesn’t matter who likes you or doesn’t like you; all that matters is that God likes you. He accepts you; He approves of you,” Zepps stated, reading from Osteen’s book. “Is that true for gay men or true for homosexuals?”

“Absolutely,” Osteen replied. “I believe that God’s breathed His life into every person. We’re all on a journey. Nobody’s perfect.”

“The Bible says that sin is pride, sin is selfish ambition,” he continued. “We tend to pick on certain things, but I believe every person is made in the image of God, and you’ve got to accept them as they are as they’re on their journey.”

Osteen then explained his belief that Christians should exemplify kindness to the world, rather than “pushing people down.”

“Again, the Scripture teaches the way people are going to know His disciples is for our love for one another, and so, I’m not preaching hate [or] pushing people down,” he stated. “I’m not here to tell everybody what they’re doing wrong.”

Osteen was later asked if he believes unbelievers can go to Heaven. He replied that he believes Scripture states that Christ is the way, but that he is not the judge of who is allowed to enter.

“As a Christian pastor, the only thing in Scripture that I see is that a relationship with Jesus will get you to Heaven,” he replied. “Now, do you have to be a certain denomination or something like that? I don’t know that, but I do know that I’m not the judge of who gets to go Heaven. What I see in the Scripture is that you have to have a relationship with Jesus. That’s why He came.”

“Someone who believes in the monkey god is not going to Heaven then,” Zepps commented, referencing the 1.2 Indians in the world, many of whom practice polytheism.

“I don’t claim to understand who’s all going to Heaven,” Osteen replied. “I just believe and I teach in all my messages that when you have a relationship with Christ–that’s the reason why He came, to have a relationship with him that is the guarantee from Heaven.”

“People don’t all believe like me; they see it bigger,” he added. “I believe God’s mercy is very big. I thank God I’m not the judge of who gets to come. Only He can, but that’s the way I see it.”

While some have applauded Osteen for the way in which he responded to Zepps’ questions, others have expressed deep concern. Dr. Michael Brown, host of the Line of Fire radio broadcast, and author of the forthcoming book Hyper-Grace, told Christian News Network that Osteen “offers affirmation for sinners–of all kinds–rather than a call for transformation.”

“If he meant that God accepts us the way we are and that’s it–no repentance or changed life in Jesus required, then I categorically disagree,” he stated. “Paul says plainly in 2 Timothy 2:19, ‘Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.’”

Brown said that Osteen missed an opportunity to encourage those who struggle with homosexual temptations that Christ came to free men from the power of sin.

“If Joel Osteen had made himself clear and given a full, biblical message, which, sadly, he often fails to do, this could have given hope to those struggling with homosexuality, as well as brought the fear of the Lord to those who believe homosexual practice and Christianity are compatible,” he stated. “t’s so important that we open the door wide to all those identify as LGBT, telling them Jesus died for them just as He died for the rest of the world and there is new life and new hope in Him.”

Brown said that he is concerned that there are those like Osteen who preach a humanistic Gospel, which “starts with me and tells me what God can do to please me,” instead of a biblical Gospel, which “starts with God and tells me what I can do to please Him.”

“While I appreciate Joel Osteen bringing a personable, smiling face to the TV screen in the name of Jesus,  I’m deeply grieved by the man-centered, cross-avoiding message that he preaches, and because of his great influence, he is greatly accountable,” he stated. “We should pray for God to get hold of him in a radical way and raise him up to be a preacher of righteousness.”

Joel Osteen’s gay problem: The religious right is history if he can’t solve it

Evangelicals need to tone down their views to stay relevant. The slick Houston pastor is showing them how it's done


Joel Osteen has a problem,Yep, and his name is Jesus one that all Evangelicals in the U.S. are facing. The anti-gay position of mainstream Christianity has fallen out of favor with the public. Every reputable poll currently shows uncontested majority support for gay marriage. And the cultural shift happened more quickly than the churches can follow.

The Huffington Post’s Josh Zepps recently asked Osteen about this passage from his new book, “Break Out: 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barrier and Live an Extraordinary Life”: “It doesn’t matter who likes you or doesn’t like you, all that matters is that God likes you. He accepts you, he approves of you.”

Zepps wanted to know if this included gay folks. “Absolutely,” Osteen offered without missing a beat. Evangelicals are notoriously tricky on the subject. It’s common theology to claim that God accepts absolutely everyone because being gay is viewed as an affliction, not an identity. What makes Osteen’s statement so unusual is his claim that God “approves” of gay folks.

The Texas megachurch pastor has always been relatively soft on the issue compared to his colleagues, notably the Evangelical behemoth Southern Baptist Convention. In the past, Osteen at the very least claimed homosexuality was unacceptable. He told  Fox News’ Chris Wallace in 2012, “I believe that Scripture says that being gay is a sin, but every time I say that, Chris, I get people saying, ‘You’re a gay hater.’”

Osteen is quite a bit more slippery on the issue than his straightforward answer to Wallace would imply. In the same interview, Osteen immediately followed his anti-gay pronouncement by saying, “Gays are some of the nicest, kindest, most loving people in the world.” Osteen never says a bad word about LGBT individuals without offering some sort of olive branch afterward, often a condescending one. In a particularly weird moment with CNN’s Piers Morgan, he even professed a love of Lady Gaga while his wife prefers Madonna.

Sometimes, Osteen drops the anti-gay facade entirely. In Boston, I once witnessed him personally intervene during a 2011 stop on his “Night of Hope” tour. The decidedly apolitical touring event is a mixture of top-notch live music and inspirational sermons by the Osteen family. During the proceedings, local ministers are invited to offer blessings. One pastor offered a thinly veiled attack on LGBT individuals by rambling on in gendered language about stable heterosexual families.

Osteen rushed the stage claiming God had laid something on his own heart. He proceeded to bless “all families and those we love,” curiously imploring god to help “every single person to find someone to love.” The husband/wife dichotomy of the previous minister had just been passive-aggressively knocked to the floor.

Some Evangelical church leaders are already going the full distance and embracing change. The controversial minister Rob Bell, also a multiple New York Times bestselling author, announced full support for marriage equality earlier this year. But he didn’t end with the endorsement. He pointedly criticized  the Evangelical church for its role in anti-gay discourse: “I think we are witnessing the death of a particular subculture that doesn’t work. I think there is a very narrow, politically intertwined, culturally ghettoized, Evangelical subculture that was told, ‘We’re gonna change the thing,’ and they haven’t … And we have supported policies and ways of viewing the world that are actually destructive. And we’ve done it in the name of God and we need to repent.” The Evangelical Lutheran Church also made history this year by ordaining its first openly gay bishop to a six-year term in May. Many Presbyterian congregations in the U.S. also welcome LGBT parishioners and leaders.

The anti-gay position is becoming increasingly problematic in churches given support for LGBT equality among young people, even including white Evangelicals. Ministers are being forced to either embrace a dying ideology or risk ejection from their churches. The “because God says so” answers derived from the Bible’s handful of homophobic passages are headed the way of biblical slavery defenses, and young Evangelicals aren’t buying. (It’s also of note that the nation’s largest Evangelical denomination, the previously mentioned SBC, was originally formed to protect the rights of slaveholders. They’re sorry now.

Complicating matters further is Catholicism’s recent tonal shift on LGBT issues, which could create a ripple effect throughout the Christian world. Pope Francis made Christians around the world do a double-take when he claimed they were “obsessed” with gay people and needed to get over it, even going so far as to muse, “”Who am I to judge a gay person of goodwill who seeks the Lord?”

It won’t be surprising when Joel Osteen, along with the rest of the Evangelical community, announces an Obama-style evolution on the issue. While some denominations will hold onto existing prejudice until the bitter end, most are likely headed the way of the Evangelical Lutherans. Until then, many Evangelicals across the nation will be forced into an uncomfortable gray area as church leaders furiously argue over an issue the rest of the country already decided.

And this has been the Hegelian Dialectic by the Illuminati minions from the get-go - started with the "religious right"/"moral majority" and the "culture wars" that divided the country - only for at the turn of the century for the RR/MM to pass the baton to the "religious left"(Emergent Church leaders Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, Rob Bell, Brian McLaren, etc) to embrace this very sodomy issue and put the final nail in the coffin.

As for the RR/MM, their leaders attacked the King James Bible(they called King James a homosexual), and recommended those Vatican perversions which deleted all references of sodomy. Talk about a crafty bait and switch here.

Also to add here - what really hammered that final nail was the Ted Haggard scandal in 2006, which was only 2 or so weeks before the midterm elections - yes, these elections are rigged, but nonetheless it gave the Illuminati minions more ammunition to rig it further for liberalism as public angry really grew over this(and to boot - Churchianity started complaining how their faith got shipwrecked). It was also the same year when Obama really got a lot of national publicity.

This is what the bible says about the Christian life:

“Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;” Hebrews 11:25

As you can see, the perverted theology of Joel Osteen has nothing to do with New Testament Christianity. Osteen preaches a carnal, worldly, fleshly, syrupy false gospel that in no way will save your soul or prepare you to stand at the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ in that day.

A board game? A lot of these board games have been used to condition the masses(and even telegraph their punches). That Monopoly game is a prime example.

^^ Just a warning about Keith Thompson(the guy who made this video) - he believes in Lordship Salvation. I listened to like 15 minutes or so of this video a couple of weeks ago, and he made comments supporting it(while showing comments from John MacArthur and Paul Washer - both of whom are LS proponents).

FWIW, I've liked some of Thompson's exposes a lot("Age of Aquarius" which Scott J and Chris White were interviewed in, his exposing of "truth" movement leaders in another one, etc). But nonetheless while I don't think he himself tries to deceive anyone, he uses other bible versions other than the KJB(the NIV and others preach LS), I think he is deceived into thinking this is true doctrine.

That's exactly what these wolves do - COMPROMISE, otherwise they would make themselves too obvious - Rick Warren gave a similar response last month when Piers Morgan asked him the same question. He said how he's against gay marriage, but we should respect gay people, and then he went on to equate that over how we should respect Muslims.

Thieves stole about $600,000 in cash and checks from Pastor Joel Osteen's Houston church.


March. 11 (UPI) -- Lakewood, the Houston megachurch led by popular televangelist Pastor Joel Osteen, said Monday that thieves had stolen about $200,000 in cash and $400,000 in checks from the church safe.

"We were heartbroken to learn today that funds were stolen from the church over the weekend," Lakewood officials said in a letter to members. They added that the stolen money was limited to funds received during church services on Saturday and Sunday.

The church also said some of the checks and envelopes contained credit card information, and urged weekend attendees to "pay close attention" to their accounts and report any suspicious activity.

Lakewood boasts more than 40,000 members. Pastor Joel Osteen and his wife, Victoria, lead televised services from the church that are broadcast to millions of people around the world every week.

Church rep Donald Iloff, Jr. told the Houston Chronicle that "Lakewood Church is working in conjunction with the Houston Police Department to investigate this matter."

"We do not want to compromise the investigation by commenting at this time,” he said.

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT a minute! They are claiming they took in $600,000 over ONE WEEKEND? And they said this Monday, which means those checks were hand delivered, not mailed in.

Over 1/2 a million dollars over one weekend?

That leaves me nearly speechless. Either they are raking it in, or they are lying for insurance or whatever. How do you prove you had $200,000 in cash? Or they got a thieve on the inside.

Regardless, that much money over just two days? I assume every weekend is similar in cash intake. That's just insane!

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT a minute! They are claiming they took in $600,000 over ONE WEEKEND? And they said this Monday, which means those checks were hand delivered, not mailed in.

Over 1/2 a million dollars over one weekend?

That leaves me nearly speechless. Either they are raking it in, or they are lying for insurance or whatever. How do you prove you had $200,000 in cash? Or they got a thieve on the inside.

Regardless, that much money over just two days? I assume every weekend is similar in cash intake. That's just insane!

Osteen's "church" is the largest one in the country I think(40K members) - not only is raking in $600K in one weekend pretty normal for them, but we're at a point now where Churchianity accepts credit card payments too.

Yes, I too thought when I read this that it was (likely)an inside job - I would think Osteen would have that entire place secured. Also remember news stories in recent months over how there's been credit card fraud et al at certain corporations like Target. Hhhhmmm...maybe Osteen and other Churchianity sects are next in line to prep their pews...

And don't forget about those Mega-movie theaters that came out in the late 1990's - box office receipts went through the roof b/c people started flocking to them not necessarily b/c they wanted to see particular movies, but all of the "goodies" they put out in it(ie-coffee shops, game rooms, wider variety of food, big screens, big sounds, accepting credit cards, etc) - pretty much another venue for social events.

Mega-churches, Mega-movie theaters, Mega-malls, Mega-bookstores, etc - they're all one and the same.

HOUSTON (AP) — A $25,000 reward is being offered for clues to solving a $600,000 theft from the Houston megachurch led by Joel Osteen.

A Crime Stoppers statement Friday announced the reward in the Lakewood Church burglary case. Houston police say $200,000 in cash and $400,000 in checks were taken from a church safe between 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, and 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 10.

No arrests have been made.

Lakewood Church said the money and checks taken, as well as some envelopes with credit card information, had been collected that weekend. Church officials say there was no data breach and the stolen funds are insured. Credit card information was in donation envelopes.

More than 40,000 people attend weekly services led by Osteen, whose televised sermons reach nearly 100 countries.

Joel Osteen Denies Being a 'Prosperity' Preacher

 Joel Osteen, pastor of the largest Protestant church in the United States, has refuted accusations of being a so-called “prosperity preacher.”

Osteen’s church sees an average weekly attendance of over 43,000 people; he is the author of numerous bestselling books and his sermons are featured weekly on several television networks. Christianity Today reports that Osteen is worth about $40 million.

In the past, Osteen has been criticized for believing in the prosperity gospel, a doctrine that says God financially blesses those who tithe large amounts.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Osteen said, “I don’t like that term [prosperity preacher]. “I specifically stay away [from the topic of money] because people are already skeptical.”

“But prosperity to me means good relationships, it’s having health, it’s accomplishing your dreams, it’s having money to pay your bills, it’s being blessed so you can be a blessing.”

Osteen emphasized that Christians who are blessed with wealth have an obligation to use money to God’s glory.

“Victoria [Osteen’s wife] and I never dreamed that we would be able to support orphanages and kids and things the way that God has blessed us, but it’s to turn it around and be a blessing to others.”

When questioned about God’s view of money, Osteen said that he believes there is nothing wrong with being rich.

“You look at the Old Testament; Christianity was started with Abraham and it says he was the wealthiest man there. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that -- I think God wants you to succeed and excel, but I don’t think you can say ‘Money is my goal, if I’m a Christian well God’s going to make me rich,’ I think that’s the wrong thing. You’re wealthy when you have your health; you’re wealthy when you have people to love. That’s real wealth.”

Osteen meets with Pope Francis at Vatican

On the same day his wife took 300 schoolchildren to the Bronx Zoo, Joel Osteen, the pastor of Houston's Lakewood Church, was meeting Thursday with Pope Francis at the Vatican.

Osteen said Friday it was a great honor to represent the pastors of America in the meeting with the pontiff, whom he described as warm, personable and full of joy.

"I like the fact that this pope is trying to make the church larger, not smaller," Osteen said. "He's not pushing people out but making the church more inclusive. That resonated with me."

The unofficial meeting also included Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah; former U.S. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne; Tim Timmons, a pastor and author based in Newport Beach, Calif.; and Gayle D. Beebe, president of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif., according to the Deseret News of Salt Lake City.

FYI - Mike Lee is a MORMON.

"We had very little time with him," Osteen said. "We were going to have more time, but a cardinal died that morning."

Pope Francis asked the group to pray for him and to pray for peace in the Middle East, Osteen said.

As part of a visit to promote interfaith understanding and ecumenical prayer, the meeting with Pope Francis was arranged by The International Foundation, a private nonprofit organization, Lee told the Deseret News.

Earlier in the week, the 15-member group met with Vatican staff members, toured the Vatican and attended the Convocation of Renewal at Olympic Stadium in Rome, according to a statement from Westmont College.

More than 50,000 charismatic Roman Catholics also attended the convocation, during which the pope knelt on the ground to pray, the Deseret News reported.

The day before the meeting with Pope Francis, Osteen said, he attended Mass in St. Peter's Square with 100,000 people.

"Afterward, (the pope) spent an hour and a half going through the crowd with the Popemobile, greeting people," he said. "It was very heartwarming to see him caring for people."

Osteen said he met the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and had dinner with another cardinal in a stone house on the Vatican grounds. The small structure with magnificently painted ceilings served as the pope's home 600 years ago, he said.

Osteen is scheduled to speak Saturday evening at Yankee Stadium as part of his "America's Night of Hope" tour.

His flight from Rome arrived in New York Friday morning.

‘Do Good for Your Own Self’: Osteen Says Obedience, Worship ‘Not for God’ [Video]

A recently recorded video is circulating online of Victoria Osteen, wife of megachurch speaker and author Joel Osteen, calling on congregants at Lakewood Church to ‘do good for your own self’ because obedience, the church and worship are not for God as much as for self-happiness.

“I just want to encourage every one of us to realize when we obey God, we’re not doing it for God—I mean, that’s one way to look at it—we’re doing it for ourselves, because God takes pleasure when we’re happy,” she declares in the undated 36-second clip with her husband standing by her side and nodding. “That’s the thing that gives Him the greatest joy…”

“So, I want you to know this morning: Just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy,” Osteen continues. “When you come to church, when you worship Him, you’re not doing it for God really. You’re doing it for yourself, because that’s what makes God happy. Amen?”

Osteen is the author of the book Love Your Life, and is “co-pastor” of Lakewood in Houston, Texas. Her husband Joel is known for his motivational speeches and his books Your Best Life Now and It’s Your Time.

Steve Camp, pastor of The Cross Church in Palm City, Florida and former singer/songwriter, told Christian News Network that he viewed the video on Wednesday, and while saddened, he was not surprised at her remarks. He stated that Osteen’s statements were humanistic in nature and antithetical to Scripture.

“It’s the age old sin of idolatry—that it’s not about God, it’s about us,” he explained. “True worship for the humanist is about how we feel at the end of the day and what gives us meaning, as opposed to what gives God glory.”

“When we come to see men happy rather than God glorified, it’s not worship, it’s idolatry,” Camp stated, reading from Psalm 115:1, which states, “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.”

He said that Osteen’s words were essentially blasphemous because they disregard God’s holiness and the way that He is to be worshiped.

“She honestly believes that God exists to make us happy rather than holy,” Camp lamented. “She honestly believes that worship is about our fulfillment rather than His glory. That’s the bottom issue here.”

But he outlined that Scripture commands man to be selflessly abandon themselves to Christ and to not worry about their own lives.

“1 Corinthians so clearly says that whether we eat or drink, do it all to the glory of God. It’s not just self,” Camp stated. “Jesus said … in Matthew 16, ‘Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Me.’”

He also pointed to Acts 20:24, which reads, “[N]either count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”

“The Osteens have just inverted that. They think it’s not the denial of self, but the exaltation of self,” Camp lamented. “They’re not trying to pursue a cross; they’re trying to pursue prosperity. And they’re certainly not following the biblical Jesus; they’re following whatever brings happiness and contentment.”

When asked about the dangers of “me-centered” church, Camp outlined numerous concerns. He explained that besides such congregations not being a real church to begin with, “me-centered” churches are based on pragmatism over Scripture, the pleasure of men over the glory of God, and are more concerned with being liked than being truthful. In doing so, such assemblies thrust the Lord of the Church outside of the Church as in Laodicea, as  Christ declared, “[T]hou sayest, ‘I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing,’ and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”

“The gospel is always counter-cultural. It always runs against that with which man wants to be satisfied and pleased with,” Camp explained. “The me-centered church is about what’s temporal rather than eternal. … The end of worship in a me-centered church has to be money, has to be fame, has to be the pragmatics of temporal culture. Therefore, it won’t do anything to offend a culture.”

“What’s the chief end of man? To bring glory to God and enjoy him forever,” he stated, quoting from Thomas Watson. “I think that’s the thing that’s been lost in our culture.”

Camp, who has spoken with Joel Osteen in the past in exhorting him to be willing to speak boldly about Christ instead of being worried public opinion, said that if he were to encourage Victoria, he would call upon her to repent.

“Repent of this self-oriented, feel good gospel you’ve embraced, and don’t let your life be of any value to you or precious to yourself,” he said. “The chief concern in this life is not us. The chief concern is that we bring glory to God, that we further His gospel, and that we testify of His grace. We’re here to do his bidding.”

Mega-church pastor Joel Osteen may lead the largest Protestant church in the United States, but a recent Facebook post shows he might need to go back to Sunday school.

A Monday post to his verified Facebook page, Joel Osteen ministries, read: “God said in Numbers 11:23, ‘Moses, is there any limit to My power?’ He was saying, ‘Moses, you saw Me part the Red Sea, stop the sun for Joshua, keep three Hebrew teenagers safe in a fiery furnace, don’t you realize that I can bring water without rain?’ There’s no limit to God’s power.”

There’s just one problem: According to the Bible, Moses was dead before Joshua asked God to stop the setting of the sun, and long before the three Hebrew youths were burned in the furnace.

The Old Testament Book of Joshua explains that God appointed Joshua as Moses’s successor after Moses’s death (the first sentence literally begins, “After the death of Moses…”), who led the Israelites into battle against the Amorites, during which he commanded the sun and the moon not to move. “So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies,” (Joshua 10:13).

The story of the “three holy children,” as the Hebrew youths are sometimes known, is told in the Old Testament Book of Daniel. According to the passage, the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, who reigned around the 6th century B.C. (long, long after the projected time of Moses), ordered his people to worship a large golden idol, “and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace,” (Daniel 3:6). The three Hebrew youths refused to worship the idol and were thrown into the furnace, but were not burned.

In many Christian traditions this passage is particularly important because it is understood to prefigure Christ — when the king asked whether the three were burned, one of his counselors replied “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God,” (Daniel 3:25).

Joel Osteen, Pastor of the biggest congregation in America, Lakewood Church, declared to the world who he really is by endorsing Obama, despite the fact that Obama's agenda goes against everything true Christians believe. Those of us who are intelligent and observant were not really surprised, as we have known for a long time that Osteen's “I'm okay, you're okay” milk toast sermons are far from Bible-based and do not reflect in any way the beliefs of his father, John Osteen, who started Lakewood Church and preached the uncompromising message of Christ for multiple decades before his death in 1999. Joel Osteen, however he may have started out, is currently nothing more than a progressive in Christian's clothing.

Obama a Christian? Come, come now

Anyone calling President B. Hussein Obama a Christian is a curious thing, as Obama himself no longer even tries to make this claim. In addition, President Obama has stated that we are not a Christian nation and that the Bible is “not adequate for modern life.” He has not yet offered any criticism of the Koran, however. Maybe he feels the violence it promotes IS appropriate for today's modern world.

Honoring those who refute the Gospel

Christians should not be surprised, as the Bible warns that there will be a falling away in the church during the end times, which is the era we are living in right now. The Scriptures state that supposed ministers of the true Gospel will abandon Biblical Christianity in favor of their own mystical, man-centered doctrines. Anyone who listens to Osteen preach can see that that is exactly what he has done.

Oprah Winfrey, a self-professed “new age high priestess,” felt perfectly comfortable sitting in the front row of Osteen's church with her friend, Tyler Perry. (We won't even go there.) Why would any true Christian pastor want to give praise to someone who uses her influence with people around the world to convince them that there are many ways to God, rather than the One Way spoken of in the Bible? Osteen made the following speech when Oprah visited his church: “we are so honored to have a world changer, history maker and one of the great voices of our generation present today. Oprah has brought a friend with her, Tyler Perry, and we are so honored to have you two here and it is great to see what God is doing in your lives.”

What God is doing in their lives? One must wonder to which god Osteen is referring, since it is impossible for Jesus to work in the lives of those who are not his followers. Of course, he also stated that there will be homosexuals in Heaven.

I have a hunch that neither Osteen nor Obama have breezed through the Bible lately.

Oprah Winfrey teaches us about life (insert chuckle)

Now we all know Osteen joined Oprah Winfrey’s “life classes” in 2011, which are nothing more than the teachings of New Age heresy. Osteen was featured on Winfrey’s series, where he offered a message to followers that included no mention of Jesus Christ, forgiveness of sins or the Biblical Gospel.

Winfrey openly promotes a book called “The Secret,” which is based on the occult. It talks about something called the “law of attraction” and eventually leads people to determine that they are their own gods. Obviously, it is up to each individual person to decide what to believe. Denies Jesus on the Larry King Show

Osteen also had absolutely no issue with refusing to state one of the most obvious Biblical truths that even those who have only been Christians for a short time believe: That the only way to God is through his Son, Jesus Christ. However, on Larry King live, Osteen danced around a direct question concerning this matter continuously until King eventually dropped it. He was asked if those who do not accept Jesus will go to Heaven and the closest he came to any semblance of an answer was “it's not for me to say.”

Well, actually it is, Joel. Anyone who claims to be a minister of the Gospel and pastor of a Bible based church is commissioned to proclaim that there is one way to Heaven and that is through the Son of God, Jesus Christ. This is something all Christians are commissioned to do, but pastors in particular have absolutely no excuse for hedging on this question, otherwise what is the point of claiming to be a minister of the Christian faith?

Unfortunately, the Gospel is not what Osteen regularly preaches to his television audience or his live congregation. Rather, after hearing him, it is easy to believe that the inspiration for many of his sermons could have very well been “The Secret.” In other words, he preaches the New Age religion under a Christian label. At a time when ministers throughout the country are encouraging people to vote and standing up to persecution, such as that recently dished out by Houston's lesbian mayor, we're hearing about Osteen cheering for Obama and his failed policies. Why not just call yourself what you are, Mr. Osteen? Never mind, it looks like you already have in many different ways.

Evangelical Christian pastor Joel Osteen shared in an interview this week that "a whole group of probably about 50 Muslims" recently visited his nondenominational megachurch in Houston, Texas, and indicated that his inspirational messages on "how to live a great life" resonate with people "in Muslim countries."

"I have Muslims that attend our church and my books sell a lot in Muslim countries as well," Osteen said during an interview with Jeremy Hobson for the "Here and Now" radio program published online Monday.

Hobson had mentioned that he heard Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel express the opinion that Christianity and Judaism had not done "a good enough job keeping an open conversation with Muslims" in the U.S. He then asked Osteen if he has conversations with Muslims, which prompted the preacher to share that he "certainly" does.

"You know, I don't know, I don't get too deep in those kinds of things," Osteen added, "but our ministry is about reaching out to everybody, and so you know, I do have those conversations."

"I had a whole group of probably about 50 Muslims here at the service about two weeks ago, sitting right on the front row. They came, and we have good, good relationships. And I think part of our ministry is, our main theme is Jesus says love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as you love yourself. And I don't try to put people in a box — OK, they're Jewish or they're Catholic, they're this or they're that. I just say, 'you know what, they're somebody that God's put in our path for us to love,' and that's our philosophy," he added.

Joel Osteen Hecklers Slapped With Criminal Charges After Verbal Assaults

Six men who heckled Joel Osteen have been arrested and slapped with criminal charges.

The hecklers were arrested, according to World Religion News, and charged with criminal trespassing for their verbal assaults on the megachurch pastor.

Earlier this week, a video was posted online showing one man yelling, "Joel Osteen, you're a liar!" Charisma News previously reported. After he was escorted out, five others began to yell and harass Osteen while he preached.

The six men are members of the Church of Wells.

One of those arrested, church elder Jacob Gardner released the following statement to a Texas news station:

Six people were escorted out of Lakewood Church in southwest Houston Sunday morning for heckling senior pastor Joel Osteen.

A video on Twitter shows the people being escorted out of the former sports arena amid cheers. Osteen is seen at the pulpit saying, "Thank you all for your patience and we'll just continue to receive what God has for us. It's a good day to be alive."

Twitter user Anwar Richardson posted on social media, "Crazy scene. Sixth person ejected from Lakewood Church by police and security."

Jacob Gardner is charged with criminal trespass


"The praise and worship was good. His wife had just delivered a quick message. And the moment he started to preach, somebody gets up and they yell "Joel Osteen you're a liar,'" said Richardson.

Richardson shot the video of a security taking one of the hecklers out. You can hear the congregation clapping as Osteen attempts to move along with his sermon, ut the disruptions continued.

"After the sixth time that it occurred, my son was sleeping in my lap, and I looked at my wife and she was nervous and we just decided we have to get out of here," said Richardson.

And they weren't alone.

"He (Osteen) kept on going. He kept his composure. He really got the message out and he said no weapon formed against me shall prosper," said another witness. "So kudos to him for delivering a good service."

Richardson, who is visiting with his family from Austin, says thoughts of the Charleston massacre ran through his mind.

"All I could think of is you don't know what's going on, and I just can't wait to find out, so I've gotta get out of there," he said.

Lakewood Church spokesman Donald Iloff Jr. tells Eyewitness News the hecklers were all with The Church of Wells. They were asked to leave, but refused and that's when they were escorted out.

According to HPD, all six were charged with criminal trespass.

Osteen’s “preaching” is heresy combined with blasphemy, written in the study of Satan himself.

In the Bible, the term I AM is the Name that God tells Moses in Exodus 3:14 he can refer to Him as when he goes back to Egypt to have a showdown with Pharaoh. God tells his this as the bush burns but is not consumed. It is a somber, awesome and fearsome time. So holy is it that God demands that Moses even remove his shoes, for even the ground where this is happening is holiness unto the Lord. But according to Joel Osteen, you can use God’s sacred Name as a buzzword to get cool stuff.  This is the poisonous heresy of the Word Faith Movement combined with the blasphemy of using God’s Name in vain.

Joel Osteen excitedly begins to urge his followers to repeat after him – “Alright just repeat after me. I am strong. I am healthy. I am confident. I am confident. I am secure. I am talented. This is what passes for preaching in 2015, Laodicean slop where YOU are the focus and God is nothing more than an errand boy who is expected to provide “stuff” on demand. “When you talk like this”, Osteen declares, “these things will follow you and God will provide them.” Outrageous! How is it possible that Lakewood Church in Houston has not yet been hit with lightning? Nothing he “preaches” about has any relation to the Bible in any way, shape or form. There is nothing in the Bible that backs up any of the claims Osteen makes the way he makes them. Everything he says has been lifted out of context, twisted, and repacked until any original meaning has long since disappeared.

The greatest Christian in the Bible, the apostle Paul, asked God 3 times for the “thorn in his flesh” to be removed. God say “no, my grace is sufficient for you.” Paul suffered the rest of his life with that “thorn” and then said that his suffering brought him closer to the Lord. This is Bible doctrine, folks, this is what the Bible actually teaches. Read it and see how it matches up with Osteen’s spewings:

“For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. According to Joel Osteen’s reasoning, the apostle Paul was a faithless failure who only “dwelt on the negative” and didn’t receive God’s blessing because he didn’t “speak it and claim it”. Paul says “You want God’s power? Then glory in your weakness! Take PLEASURE in persecutions, in sickness, in distress.” That’s where God’s true power, riches and blessings are. Bible doctrine is the stark, polar opposite of Osteen’s theology.

Osteen’s sermon, “The Power Of I Am” at it’s best is Laodicean slop designed to appeal to self-centered, narcissistic “christians” looking to get more “stuff” from God. But at it’s worst, it’s heresy combined with blasphemy, written in the study of Satan himself. The Devil is the “I Will” guy, but the flip-side of that coin is stealing God’s Name and becoming the “I Am” guy. I cannot imagine how anyone can sit and listen to this trash on a Sunday morning and call it a “worship” service. It is nothing of the kind unless you are referring to self-worship, which actually seems to be the goal of Osteen’s urgings.

Joel Osteen Says He’s Not ‘Cheating People’ by Neglecting to Preach on Repentance, Hell

Megachurch self-help author and motivational speaker Joel Osteen says that he doesn’t believe that he’s “cheating people” by neglecting to preach on repentance or eternal punishment as he opines that people “feel guilty enough.”

Osteen was featured on CBS Sunday Morning on March 27, as correspondent Tracy Smith visited Lakewood to interview the megachurch leader.

“You’ve been criticized for church-lite, or a cotton candy message. Do you feel like you’re cheating people by not telling them about the Hell part? Or repentance part?” she asked.

“No, I really don’t, because it’s a different approach,” Osteen replied.

“You know, it’s not hellfire and brimstone. But I say most people are beaten down enough by life. They already feel guilty enough. They’re not doing what they should do raising their kids—we can all find reasons,” he said. “So I want them to come to Lakewood or our meetings and be lifted up, to say, ‘You know what? I may not be perfect, but I’m moving forward. I’m doing better.’ And I think that motivates you to do better.”

He later explained that because his late father rose from poverty to becoming the pastor of a growing congregation, he focuses on advising others that they too can overcome their difficult life circumstances.

“You know, my dad was very, very poor,” Osteen said. “No milk, no food, no heating in the winter. And you know what? He stepped up. And he had a big dream for his life. And look what he’s done for us. And so that’s my whole thing is, you don’t have to stay there. You gotta believe that you can rise higher.”

Osteen, who reportedly lives in a $10.5 million dollar home, explained to CBS that most of his wealth comes from his book sales and his work with Sirius Satellite Radio. He does not take a salary from Lakewood, which he estimates makes $90 million a year.

“I do think that there is a certain thought, especially in the church world, that you’re supposed to be poor and broke and defeated to show that you’re humble, and I don’t buy into that,” he said.

However, much concern has been raised over the past decade that the messages at Lakewood are noticeably man-centered and humanistic, instead of Christ-centered and gospel centric. Osteen’s self-help books have included “Your Best Life Now,” “Become a Better You,” “You Can, You Will” and “It’s Your Time.”

Osteen’s latest book, “The Power of I Am,” teaches readers to manifest blessings in their life by making positive confessions about themselves, so that they might “lead a more productive and happier life.”

In 2014, Osteen’s wife Victoria raised concerns when she preached, “Just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy. When you come to church, when you worship Him, you’re not doing it for God really. You’re doing it for yourself…”

“His core message is God is nice, you’re nice, be nice. It’s sort of a, if it were a form of music, I think it would be easy listening,” Michael Horton, professor of theology at Westminster Seminary in Escondido, told reporters. “He uses the Bible like a fortune cookie. ‘This is what’s gonna happen for you. There’s gonna be a windfall in your life tomorrow.’ The Bible’s not meant to be read that way.”

Osteen recently made headlines after his longtime senior worship leader, Israel Houghton, publicly announced last month that he had obtained a divorce due to damage caused when he “sinned in his marriage” five years ago. Some became concerned that Houghton was allowed to lead worship during this time, and outlets quickly pointed out that Houghton was seen with a new girlfriend earlier this month. Lakewood has stated that Houghton is on “indefinite leave” but is still employed as a staff member.

Sadly, it's not just Osteen (and Rick Warren for that matter too) - now even KJV IFB churches are pushing this watered down gospel message as well - pretty much no guilty of sin, conviction of sin, turning from sin, repentance, etc, and experiences of a changed life after salvation isn't necessary (and the wolves are really attacking people like Bryan Denlinger now).

I really hate to say it, but I believe 90% of people in hell are those that THOUGHT they were saved and were diligently doing good service for the LORD.

One of America’s most well-known evangelical pastors, Joel Osteen, recently declared that God “absolutely” approves of everyone, including homosexuals.

The Houston megapastor and best-selling author has been touring to all the talk shows lately to promote his new book Break Out! 5 Keys to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life.

Osteen, who has been the pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston since 1999, recently talked to the Huffington Post about several subjects, including his thoughts on homosexuality.

HuffPo Live host Josh Zepps quoted from Osteen’s new book: “It doesn’t matter who likes you or who doesn’t like you, all that matters is God likes you. He accepts you, he approves of you.”

Zepps went on to ask Osteen if that included homosexuals.

“Absolutely,” Osteen insisted.

“I believe that God has breathed his life into every single person. We’re all on a journey. Nobody’s perfect,” stated the pastor who oversees a congregation of 45,000 followers, including the likes of Cher and Oprah Winfrey. “The Bible said a sin is pride, a sin is selfish ambition. We tend to pick out these certain things,” he add.

Sadly, even the Independent Fundamental Baptist crowd, as well as more (professing) King James Bible ministries have gone this route as well - ignoring hellfire and brimstone, and also God's holiness.

Honestly, we can't blame Osteen, Bell, Warren, and these other Emergent Church heretics completely - the last commandment Paul gave to the church of Corinth was to "EXAMINE yourselves, to see if you're in the faith...", which churches have really gotten away from - instead, it's gone the route of "Just remember the prayer you prayed" or "Just remember that one point where you decided to believe".

Celebrity televangelist Joel Osteen is under Twitter fire for not opening his church to victims of Tropical Storm Harvey.

Osteen is the head of Lakewood Church in Houston, which is housed in The Summit–the former NBA stadium of the Rockets, which holds 16,800 people.

The storm, which started out as a Category 4 hurricane but was reduced to a tropical storm once it hit land, has showered Texas with more than 30 inches of rain, has left 300,000 people without power and displaced 30,000 in temporary shelters across the state. FEMA is expecting as many as 450,000 potential disaster victims.

Lakewood Church’s Facebook page on Sunday said the church was “inaccessible due to severe flooding,” though the message doesn’t clarify whether the church itself is flooded. On Osteen’s Twitter, he is encouraging his followers to visit the church website to help with relief. The link he provides offers a donation button and a volunteer button, the latter of which shows a partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, a disaster relief organization. “We know the need is great. That much is clear. We do not yet know all the ways we can help,” the church’s website says. Well, for one, many on Twitter say, is to open up the church for those who are in need of shelter.

Joel Osteen: Televangelist Whose Church Closed During Hurricane Harvey Tells Victims not to Have 'Poor Me' Attitude

A televangelist whose church closed its doors during Hurricane Harvey claims that he is the victim of “misinformation” and told flood victims not to have a “poor me” attitude.

In his Sunday sermon, multimillionaire pastor Joel Osteen addressed the criticism that has been directed at him after his 16,000 seat Houston megachurch initially closed its doors during the storm, in which thousands of people were left homeless and 40 were killed.

Pictures and video posted on social media showed the church apparently undamaged by the storm, and Osteen initially claimed he had not opened its doors because he had not been asked to by the state. The church re-opened Tuesday, as floodwaters began to recede.

Osteen defended the decision not to open the church during the devastating storm, and told those affected not to have a “poor old me attitude.”

“You know I really believe in these times of difficulty it's, for me, certainly not the time to question your faith but to turn to your faith because God is the one that gives you the strength to make it through the difficult times," he said in a video of Sunday's sermon posted on YouTube.

“We are not going to understand everything that happens but, you know, having a 'poor old me' mentality or 'look what I lost' or 'why did this happen', that's just going to pull you down. Like we've been talking about all night, you just got to turn it over and say 'God you're still on the throne'.”

Osteen preaches the prosperity gospel, a branch of Christianity that holds that following Christian teachings can increase personal wealth. His Lakewood church is one of the largest in the U.S.

On Sunday, Osteen blamed “misinformation” for criticism levelled at the church for remaining closed. He said he hadn’t opened its doors due to safety concerns, and floodwaters came within a couple of feet of breaching flood walls installed after floods in 2001.

He added: “Had we opened the building sooner and someone got injured, or perhaps the building flooded and someone lost their lives, that would have been a very different story. Now I don’t mind taking the heat for being precautious. But I don’t want to take the heat for being foolish.”

He continued: "This is not just an attack on me, it's an attack on what we stand for—for faith, for hope, for love," he said. "Jesus even said, 'When the world hates you, remember: it hated me first.'"

Mega-pastor Joel Osteen may not know theology very well, but he sure knows how to rake in the bucks. To put it another way, Osteen is an expert at getting your down-on-their-luck relatives to hand over their money to his "ministry." The proof is in the pudding, so they say, because the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Lakewood Church's annual budget is around 90 million dollars a year.

Lakewood Church's fiscal budget was revealed during the newspaper's series titled "The Preacher's Son." The series "explores the origins and spectacular growth of Houston's Lakewood Church under pastor Joel Osteen." However, the Chronicle and writer Katherine Blunt decided to run a separate piece breaking down the church's budget.

According to the article, here's a rough breakdown of how Lakewood Church uses that 90 million dollar budget:

    Weekly services and programs: $31.7 million

    Night of Hope events: $6.7 million

    TV ministry: $25.1 million

    General and administrative: $11.5 million

    Fundraising: $11.9 million

    Mission and outreach: $1.2 million

There are two related things that I find sad, albeit not surprising, about how Osteen and company spend their many millions. Most of that big pile of money is spent on furthering Osteen's brand while a tiny fraction of it is spent on evangelizing the lost. And by a tiny fraction, I mean just a bit over 1 percent.

They know that, despite his pusillanimous statements that ‘homosexuality is a sin‘ that Joel Osteen is actually a supporter of the LGBTQ+ and has been for sometime. There is no other way to explain his presence at the Lady Gaga filth and perversion show, no way at all.

Joel Osteen has graduated, he has moved from merely being a false teacher and preacher of the word of God, to becoming a member in good standing with the Hollywood satanists we constantly warn you about. Lady Gaga calls her followers ‘little monsters‘ and that is exactly what Joel and Victoria Osteen have become. If you can read this article and still happily attend Lakewood Church or listen to his ‘preaching’ online, it is likely you have never been born again.
Joel Osteen Parties With Lady Gaga At NYC Pride Show

FROM CHRISTIAN NEWS: “Are you ready to [expletive] party tonight? Are we making history?” Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, asked the crowd as she opened the show, according to the New York Daily News.

The popular music streaming companies had announced last month that they would be presenting the “special performance” to “celebrate SiriusXM and Pandora coming together as one company.” They also noted that the concert “coincides with World Pride Month, which this year is being celebrated in New York City.”

The Daily News reports that Germanotta “performed a selection of her most beloved hits dancing around, in a most homoerotic latex fantasy, dropping F-bombs and getting tips from the future by speaking to an ‘Avatar’-like Gaga figure.”

She also spoke of her advocacy for those who identify as homosexuals and transgenders, telling the crowd, “So, it’s Pride Week. I wish it could exist 365 days of the year, but I’ll take an [expletive] global week.”

Germanotta urged those in the theater and around the world to “[a]sk the question: ‘What is your pronoun?’ Because for a lot of people, it’s really hard, and their pronouns aren’t respected or they’re not asked.”

As previously reported, Germanotta, whose music videos and concerts are often performed in little clothing and are sexually suggestive, sings about homosexuality in her song “Born This Way.”

“A different lover is not a sin, believe capital H-I-M,” the tune claims. “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive. … I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes.”

A number of drag queens attended the invitation-only event, including Alaska Thunder[expletive] (Justin Honard), Ginger Minj (Joshua Eads), Sharon Needles (Aaron Coady), Aquaria (Giovanni Palandrani) and Shangela Wadley (Darius Pierce) of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
Other attendees included American Idol’s Adam Lambert, Saturday Night Live’s Heidi Gardner, actor Michael Douglas, and Neil Patrick Harris and his “husband” David Burtka.

And in the midst of those photographed were Joel and Victoria Osteen, who posed like the others adjacent to the Pandora/SiriusXM/Lady Gaga backdrop. The Osteens have their own channel on SiriusXM, which according to its description, features “daily messages of hope and inspiration, live call-in shows and with Joel and Victoria, and special live services.” Being connected to the network is likely the reason why they were invited to the event.

Christian News contacted Joel Osteen Ministries to inquire about the appearance, but was told by a representative that she didn’t know anything about the matter as she had just learned of it and that any statement would have to come from Joel himself.

Some outlets expressed bewilderment as to why the Osteens attended since it was assumed that he opposes homosexuality, which Gaga advocates.

As previously reported, Osteen drew criticism in 2013 when he told the Huffington Post that God accepts homosexuals without also mentioning the requirement of repentance.

    “You say in your book … ‘It doesn’t matter who likes you or doesn’t like you; all that matters is that God likes you. He accepts you; He approves of you,” host Josh Zepps stated. “Is that true for gay men or true for homosexuals?”

    “Absolutely,” Osteen replied. “I believe that God’s breathed His life into every person. We’re all on a journey. Nobody’s perfect.”

“The Bible says that sin is pride, sin is selfish ambition,” he continued. “We tend to pick on certain things, but I believe every person is made in the image of God, and you’ve got to accept them as they are as they’re on their journey.”

Osteen then explained his belief that Christians should exemplify kindness to the world, rather than “pushing people down.”

“Again, the Scripture teaches the way people are going to know His disciples is for our love for one another, and so, I’m not preaching hate [or] pushing people down,” he stated. “I’m not here to tell everybody what they’re doing wrong.” READ MORE
Joel Osteen, who is known for his effervescent personality and sunny disposition in nearly all matters, says he is not cheating people by not preaching about hell.

The number one reason why anyone should ever want to be saved can be summed up in one word – Hell. Because of Hell, Jesus went to the cross and made a payment to set you free if you would only take it. Because of Hell, God commands believers to take the message of salvation to a lost and dying world. What sends you to Hell? Unpaid sin in your life. But Joel Osteen refuses to tell people about Hell because he wants them to be “uplifted” and “feel positive”.
