Title: "Jesus hates the sin BUT loves the sinner"?
Post by: Psalm 51:17 on December 16, 2012, 09:17:18 pm
First off, WHERE in scripture does it say this?

With that being said...

James 5:19  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
James 5:20  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

So this passage completely debunks the typical Churchianity heresy of "Jesus hates the sin but loves the sinner", right?

I think the "saying" is extrapolated from various verses...

Romans 3:9-12, 22-23 KJV

What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:8-10 KJV

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

John 3:16 is a prime example. It says God LOVED the world. Past tense. Not loves the world.
